Everything you need to know about Manchester United's pre-season matches, including fixtures, kick-off times, results, schedule, how to watch and lots more.

After a two-year hiatus, Manchester United will partake in a pre-season tour ahead of the new Premier League season .

Just like other teams, the English giants had to put their travelling plans on hold as the Covid-19 pandemic shut down parts of the world, meaning United had to settle for playing pre friendlies on home soil.

Now, following a disastrous season and a new manager at the helm United will jet off to several parts of the world, adding much delight to their support bases outside of the UK.

United's pre-season tour would also give Erik ten Hag a full view of his new team as they look to become title contenders once again, domestically and on the European stage. The Red Devils finished the season in 6th position with 58 points, something fans were not too pleased with.

So, if you want to follow United during their pre-season campaign, GiveMeSport has you covered, here's everything you need to know.

A look at Manchester United's full pre-season schedule

A look at Manchester United's full pre-season schedule

Manchester United will begin their 2022-23 Premier League season against Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford on August 7.

The match will mark Erik ten Hag 's first competitive fixture as head coach of the club, but the team have a lot of football to play before the start of their new campaign, with six pre-season fixtures in the diary.

The Red Devils are due to return to pre-season training before the end of the month, although those involved for their countries during the recent break have been given extra recovery time.

"We will start pre-season on 27 June and I will get a few of the squad, of the individual players. Not all the players will be coming in [on 27 June], because the ones who play internationals will have a longer break, because they play longer in this current season," Ten Hag told MUTV last month.

Ten Hag's start will start their preparations for the new season against English rivals Liverpool in Bangkok on July 12, with the match taking place at the Rajamangala Stadium in Thailand's capital.

From there, the 20-time English champions will head to Australia, where they will take on Melbourne Victory and Crystal Palace on July 15 and July 19 respectively, with both matches taking place at Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag on May 22, 2022

Perth's Optus Stadium will then host Man United against Aston Villa on July 23, with the Red Devils facing three Premier League sides during their preparations for the new campaign.

The fixture against Steven Gerrard 's outfit will be the final match of their Thailand and Australia tour, but they will head back to Europe to take on Atletico Madrid in Oslo, Norway on July 30.

Man United will then face Rayo Vallecano on July 31, with the fixtures on back-to-back days meaning that there will be a lot of rotation, with the games coming one week before the start of the Premier League season.

The match will mark new head coach Erik ten Hag's first home fixture, and the club's football director John Murtough said that the game would be "a great opportunity" for players not heavily involved in the pre-season tour to get minutes in their legs.

New Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, Mitchell van der Gaag, director of football John Murtough, Steve McClaren and chief executive officer Richard Arnold in the stands on May 22, 2022

"Pre-season is all about preparation and this is a great opportunity for those squad members who may not have featured in some of our earlier Tour and pre-season matches to get valuable minutes on the pitch – and where better to do this than Old Trafford?" Murtough told the club's official website.

"This will be the new manager's first match at Old Trafford, and I am sure the fans will provide him with a warm welcome."

Last season, the Red Devils finished sixth in the Premier League, reached the fourth round of the FA Cup, third round of the EFL Cup and last-16 stage of the Champions League.

The fixtures for the 2022-23 Premier League season were released on Thursday, and Man United will take on Brighton, Brentford, Liverpool, Southampton and Leicester City in the first month of the campaign.

October will also be particularly busy for the 20-time English champions, facing Manchester City, Everton, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and West Ham United in the league, while they will also play three times in the group stage of the Europa League that month.

The season is starting earlier than usual due to the 2022 World Cup, which will take place in November and December, so the group stage of the Europa League will be completed by early November.

Man United's pre-season schedule:

July 12 vs. Liverpool Rajamangala Stadium, Bangkok

July 15 vs. Melbourne Victory Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne

July 19 vs. Crystal Palace Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne

July 23 vs. Aston Villa Optus Stadium, Perth

July 30 vs. Atletico Madrid Ullevaal Stadium, Oslo

Manchester United are slated to play as many as seven games in their 2023 pre-season tour.

manchester united pre season tour fixtures

Twenty-time English champions Manchester United will begin their pre-season 2023 tour in Norway against Leeds United on Wednesday, July 12.

After finishing third in the Premier League last season, the Red Devils will be eager to kick on and close the gap to their crosstown rivals Manchester City, who have won the league title in four of the last five seasons.

Soon after their opening per-season game against Leeds, United under the tutelage of Dutchman Erik ten Hag will travel to Scotland and face Lyon on Wednesday, July 19.

Following their visits to Norway and Scotland, United will kickstart their pre-season tour of the United States.

Their first game in the United States will see them take on Premier League rivals Arsenal in New Jersey on Saturday, July 22.

The Red Devils will be in action once again three days later when they will square off against newly promoted League Two outfit Wrexham in San Diego on  Wednesday, July 26.

Next up for United during their 2023 pre-season tour is a high-profile friendly against Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid. This encounter between two of club football’s most successful teams will happen in Texas on Thursday, July 27.

The Red Devils’ last pre-seson match in the United States is slated to take place in Las Vegas on Monday, July 31 against German giants Borussia Dortmund.

However, United’s pre-season 2023 doesn’t end with their last match in the United States against Dortmund.

After concluding their US tour, United are scheduled to return to the United Kingdom before travelling to Dublin to face Spanish outfit Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday, August 6 for their last match of the pre-season preparations.

As far as their squad composition is concerned, United have released the likes of Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe, while David de Gea and Wout Weghorst are also among the expected departures.

Incomings, on the other hand, could see the likes of Mason Mount and goalkeeper Andre Onana join the squad before United start their pre-seson.

Liverpool pre-season 2024/25: Fixtures and schedule

  • Liverpool face a pre-season without Jurgen Klopp for the first time since 2015/16
  • The Reds are expected to be busy in the summer transfer market
  • Plenty of the club's stars will be in international action over the summer period

By Ewan Ross-Murray | Apr 28, 2024

Liverpool will have a new manager for the 2024/25 season

Liverpool will have their first pre-season without Jurgen Klopp for nine years when they prepare themselves for the 2024/25 campaign.

The 56-year-old's underwhelming final season at Anfield is coming to a close and Liverpool are yet to announce a replacement for the iconic German. However, all signs currently point to Feyenoord's Arne Slot , who will hope to lead the Reds into a new successful era.

With change comes both nerves and excitement and Liverpool supporters will be eager to see how this summer's transfer window and pre-season plans impact the club ahead of next season.

Here is what we know about Liverpool 's pre-season plans so far.

Where are Liverpool going for 2024/25 pre-season?

We will return to the USA this summer for a pre-season tour, facing off against Arsenal and Manchester United 🙌 — Liverpool FC (@LFC) February 23, 2024

Liverpool will travel to the United States this summer under new management, returning to North America for the first time since 2019. The Reds are likely to travel across the country and already have three matches lined up against some familiar opponents.

Speaking about their US tour, the club's commercial director Ben Latty stated: "We are proud to announce our highly anticipated return to the USA providing a great environment for the squad to prepare for the season ahead.

"Pre-season tours always present exceptional opportunities for our supporters, the team and our official partners to engage in memorable experiences within a key focus market for the club."

Liverpool usually begin their pre-season campaign with clashes against lower league English sides such as Tranmere Rovers, although they travelled to Germany instead last season. However, it remains to be seen if the Reds will play some friendlies on home soil before jetting off to the United States.

Liverpool pre-season 2023/24 confirmed schedule

Liverpool are likely to announce more dates of friendly fixtures as the end of the season draws to a close, but as things stand they are kicking off their pre-season journey with a match against Real Betis in Pittsburgh on 27 July.

The Reds then face two of their fiercest Premier League foes, starting with a clash against Arsenal on 1 August and followed by a battle with rivals Manchester United three days later. All kick-off times are in the early hours of the morning in the United Kingdom.

How to watch Liverpool's 2024/25 pre-season

While the club have not officially announced how supporters can access pre-season clashes just yet, Liverpool's friendlies are normally shown on LFCTV .

Viewers will need a valid subscription and are often able to find one-month free trials during pre-season. However, this is subject to change.

Manchester united set for massive turnover report says ‘nearly all’ players available this summer.

  • Nicholas Mendola ,
  • Nicholas Mendola

Very few Manchester United players’ futures with the club are safe this summer, says BBC football reporter Simon Stone .

Stone reports that United is “willing to listen to offers for virtually all their first-team squad this summer” as it looks to rebuild the club after a miserable season that is still not yet assured of a return to European football.

The report lists Rasmus Hojlund, Alejandro Garnacho, and Kobbie Mainoo as not being on the list, and says it would take “major” offers to get Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Dalot, and Andre Onana.

It also says the United would like to keep Marcus Rashford and rejuvenate his form, but acknowledges that he’s “on the list.”

All this, of course, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe and United’s new hierarchy decide what to do with manager Erik ten Hag.

What will Manchester United look like next season?

Sofyan Amrabat’s loan expires this summer and it seems unlikely the Red Devils would exercise the right to buy him from Fiorentina. The contracts of Tom Heaton and Jonny Evans will expire and both Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial have option years. Varane is the only one you’d possibly expect to stay at Old Trafford.

Mason Mount would seem likely to get a chance to deliver with a healthy summer of prep after an injury-riddled year, as hsi contract runs through 2028.

Loanees Mason Greenwood (Getafe) and Jadon Sancho (Dortmund) are likely to be sold, while Donny van de Beek and Hannibal Mejbri have not become feature players on loan to Eintracht Frankfurt and Sevilla, respectively. Alvaro Carreras has been bright in a short-term move to Benfica, while Facundo Pellistri’s had some good moments at Granada.

But, really, who would you expect back? Bruno Fernandes is the club’s best player and — as stated above — Dalot, Hojlund, Garnacho, and Mainoo have been good. Mount, Scott McTominay, Tyrell Malacia, Amad Diallo, and Lisandro Martinez are in, one would think, as well as breakthrough back Willy Kambwala.

There are so many questions, though. Victor Lindelof is valuable but going into the last year of his deal, as are Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Christian Eriksen, Diallo, and McTominay. And what are the market rates for Antony, Casemiro, Varane, Wan-Bissaka, and Maguire? And how much better would Casemiro look with a better midfielder next to him? Or Varane with a full year of Martinez?

And there’s another aspect to consider: Manchester United is one of the biggest clubs in the world but isn’t going to rally the world’s very best for Europa League or Conference League play unless there’s a clear path back to the Champions League.

Gonna be one interesting summer.
