Weather and Best Time to Visit: Ranakpur Tourism And Travel Guide

The weather of Ranakpur is much gentler than most parts of the state. However it does resemble the prominent weather of the state. The best time to visit Ranakpur is, without doubt, during winter.

Summer: (April to June) The summers are mostly hot and dry with maximum day time temperatures reaching almost 45°C. The evenings are more tolerable, hence if this is the season you choose, the evenings would be the best time for sight-seeing.

Monsoon: (July to September) The monsoon plays an important role here as it replenishes the water supply and the surrounding greenery. It also helps bring down the temperature by a bit but only to increase the humidity. Hence these months are also not considered favourable.

Winter: (October to March) The on season arrives with the winter months. With pleasant day time temperatures that average at 25°C, this is the best time for sight-seeing, bird watching and trekking. Additionally, it is also the time when the popular Ranakpur Festival is held.

Things To Do

Things To Do: Ranakpur Tourism And Travel Guide

Sight-Seeing:

Ranakpur’s pride is the 15th century Jain Temple that was, as the legend goes, a product of divine intervention. The gorgeous marble temple is a large structure that has over a thousand pillars, many turrets and domes, statues and wall engravings and a very striking architecture. The temple is also one of the top pilgrim destinations for the Jain community. Though the temple takes up most of the attention there are a couple of other things to see like the Sun Temple for example. This temple is much older than the Jain temple and has a distinct architecture and some of the notable features of the temple include the sanctum, the engraved walls and pillars. Besides the temples Ranakpur’s natural beauty is something that deserves exploration and there is no place like the Ranakpur dam for this. There are safaris organized by different agents that tour the town and the nearby forests.

One look at the place and any trekker would realise its worth. Nestled among the Aravali, Ranakpur has many great trekking routes for amateurs and pros. Some of the commonly taken paths include those to Kumbhalgarh, Aranyawas and Ghanerao. They pass through hilly terrains and plain land and plenty of greenery, almost ensuring wildlife spotting. A hike up nearby paths is also great for bird-watching. The region is known for birds like peacocks, red spurfowls and the painted francolins.

While a number of festivals are celebrated in Ranakpur as in the rest of India , the most sought after festival is The Ranakpur Festival. It consists of cultural shows like dance and music and lots of traditional food. The performances are usually held near the Jain Temple and since it encourages tourism they offer additional services like safaris around the town.

First refuelling for Russia’s Akademik Lomonosov floating NPP

!{Model.Description}

ranakpur tourism

The FNPP includes two KLT-40S reactor units. In such reactors, nuclear fuel is not replaced in the same way as in standard NPPs – partial replacement of fuel once every 12-18 months. Instead, once every few years the entire reactor core is replaced with and a full load of fresh fuel.

The KLT-40S reactor cores have a number of advantages compared with standard NPPs. For the first time, a cassette core was used, which made it possible to increase the fuel cycle to 3-3.5 years before refuelling, and also reduce by one and a half times the fuel component in the cost of the electricity produced. The operating experience of the FNPP provided the basis for the design of the new series of nuclear icebreaker reactors (series 22220). Currently, three such icebreakers have been launched.

The Akademik Lomonosov was connected to the power grid in December 2019, and put into commercial operation in May 2020.

Electricity generation from the FNPP at the end of 2023 amounted to 194 GWh. The population of Pevek is just over 4,000 people. However, the plant can potentially provide electricity to a city with a population of up to 100,000. The FNPP solved two problems. Firstly, it replaced the retiring capacities of the Bilibino Nuclear Power Plant, which has been operating since 1974, as well as the Chaunskaya Thermal Power Plant, which is more than 70 years old. It also supplies power to the main mining enterprises located in western Chukotka. In September, a 490 km 110 kilovolt power transmission line was put into operation connecting Pevek and Bilibino.
