11 Days Exotic North East India Tour Package
Overall in India we find that and have opportunity to go on an 11-day tour of North East India and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The tour package was well-organized and covered all the major destinations in the region, giving us a comprehensive overview of the culture, history, and natural beauty of this lesser-explored part of India. The tour started in Guwahati, the gateway to North East India, where we were greeted by our friendly and knowledgeable tour guide. From there, we traveled to Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya, known as the 'Scotland of the East' for its stunning landscapes and pleasant climate. We visited the famous Umiam Lake, also known as Barapani Lake, and were mesmerized by its crystal clear water and surrounding hills. Next, we headed to Cherrapunjee, one of the wettest places on earth, where we got to witness the spectacular Seven Sisters Waterfall and the living root bridges, a unique and fascinating man-made wonder. The tour also took us to Mawlynnong, known as the cleanest village in Asia, and we were amazed by its pristine surroundings and the warm hospitality of the locals. We then continued our journey to Kaziranga National Park, home to the famous one-horned rhinoceros. We were lucky enough to spot these magnificent creatures during our safari in the park. The tour also included a visit to Majuli Island, the world's largest river island, where we got to experience the unique Assamese culture and enjoy a traditional dance performance. The highlight of the tour was our visit to Tawang, located in the state of Arunachal Pradesh, which is home to the second-largest Buddhist monastery in the world. The monastery was a sight to behold, and we were fortunate to witness the daily rituals and prayers of the monks. The tour also took us to the picturesque Sela Pass, which offered breathtaking views of the Himalayan mountains. Throughout the tour, we were impressed by the beauty and diversity of North East India. The accommodations provided were comfortable and the food was delicious, giving us a taste of the local cuisine. Our tour guide was highly knowledgeable and shared interesting insights about the places we visited. Overall, I would highly recommend this 11-day tour package to anyone looking to explore the exotic North East region of India. It was a perfect blend of nature, culture, and adventure, and I returned home with a deeper appreciation for this lesser-known part of our country.

INDIA – 11 Days Highlights of North East India
10 Days Sikkim Holiday

Popular Sikkim Tour Packages in 2024
Sikkim trip packages -.
Imagine a mystical land dotted with splendid mountains, wildlife sanctuaries and ancient monasteries. That is Sikkim in a nutshell. You can book a Sikkim tour package and explore popular destinations like Lachung, Yuksom, Geyzing, Gangtok, Aritar and Pelling. Enjoy amazing views of Mt. Kanchenjunga, the third-highest mountain in the world and travel through the Nathu La and Goecha La passes on your trip.
A region worth including in any north east tour package, Sikkim is also famous for being home to almost 5,000 varieties of flowers. It is also known for some of the most exotic and diverse fauna species like the civet cat, red panda and Himalayan black bear. There are several options available for travellers including Darjeeling Gangtok packages and even Meghalaya Sikkim packages .
Best Time to Visit Sikkim
You can book a Sikkim tour package in the summer season (March to June). Most travellers book their Meghalaya Sikkim packages in this period to take part in outdoor activities and sightseeing. However, booking any such north east tour package is not advisable in the monsoon months due to heavy rainfall and the risks of landslides.
Alternatively, you can consider booking Sikkim tour package including flights in the winter season if you want to experience the chilly weather conditions and snowfall.
How to Reach Sikkim
If you have booked a Sikkim tour package including flights, then you can reach the Pakyong Airport. It is just 29 km away from Gangtok, the capital of the state. However, most people prefer flying to the Bagdogra Airport in West Bengal as a part of their Gangtok tour packages. You can take a cab from this point to reach Gangtok which is around 125 km away (4.5 hours).
If you have chosen train travel for your Sikkim tour package, then you have to reach the New Jalpaiguri (NJP) railway station in West Bengal. You can then take a taxi/bus to reach Gangtok and other areas like Pelling, Ravangla, Namchi and Mangan.
Best Places to Visit in Sikkim
Here are some of the places to visit in Sikkim worth including in any Holiday package.
• Gangtok - Booking a Gangtok tour package will help you explore the fascinating attractions of Sikkim’s capital city. Adventure lovers can indulge in river rafting, mountain biking and cable car rides here. Some of the top attractions include the Nathula Pass , Tsomgo Lake, Rumtek Monastery and more.
• Yuksom - A peaceful hamlet in west Sikkim, it is called the meeting place of three Lamas. The village houses the Dubdi Monastery, the first in Sikkim (founded in 1701) and is known for its lakes and waterfalls.
• Pelling - Those who love the mountains should not miss a trip to Pelling. This quaint town offers fabulous Kanchenjunga views at 7,200 feet above sea level. It is an adventure sports hub and is also home to several ancient monasteries, bridges and waterfalls.
• Lachung - From gorgeous mountain views to the Lachung Chu River’s sparkling waters and the Lachung Gompa, there are several attractions here for tourists. A Lachung tour package will take you through this northern town with its waterfalls and fruit orchards.
• Ravangla - One of South Sikkim’s most picturesque spots, Ravangla is famous among birdwatchers. It is home to several unique species like the dark-throated thrush, blue whistling thrush, babblers and more. You can explore several monasteries, tea gardens and temples here.
Best Dishes to Try in Sikkim
Those booking Sikkim tour packages should not miss trying the local delicacies of the state on their trips. Here are a few of them:
• Momo- Originating from Tibet, momos are a popular snack across India. You will find some of the most delicious versions of this dish in Sikkim, complete with a variety of fillings like cheese, tofu and more.
• Thukpa- Gya Thuk or Thukpa is a comforting Tibetan noodle soup with meat and vegetarian options. Local vegetables like celery, cauliflower, spinach, bell peppers and carrots are used to create this hearty dish.
• Phagshapa- Pork fat is stewed with radish and dry chilies to make this fabulous Sikkimese dish. It is one of the most-loved preparations in Sikkim.
• Sha Phaley- With multiple stuffing options, this crispy fried and juicy dumpling is a must-try in Sikkim.
• Sinki- One of Sikkim’s most traditional dishes, Sinki is made with radish taproots. They are chopped before being placed in bamboo and pressed with straws. The mixture thus remains fresh for a long duration and can be easily used in various soups and stews. You can also eat it as a pickle with parathas or other items.

Sikkim Tour Packages: "Mountains are the beginning and end of all natural scenery," John Ruskin wrote. This sentiment is confirmed when you embark on one of the Sikkim tour packages and find yourself transported to an ethereal world nestled in the laps of the Himalayas. A Sikkim tour is more than just a vacation; it is a soulful journey through emerald landscapes, vibrant cultures, and the mystic aura of Himalayan spirituality.
The allure of Sikkim tour packages lies not only in the panoramic beauty of its vistas, but also in the distinct cultural heritage that pervades every nook and cranny of this Himalayan state. Every Sikkim tour offers a glimpse into the lives and customs of the region's diverse communities, from the mystic monasteries echoing with Buddhist monk chants to the rhythmic beats of traditional Lepcha music.
On a Sikkim tour, the sheer variety of experiences available is astounding. The exotic flora and fauna of Kanchenjunga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, one moment, and the healing powers of Yumthang's hot springs the next. You'll quickly understand why Sikkim tour packages are so popular as you walk through the meandering trails of Rhododendron sanctuaries, which are carpeted in a riot of colours during the blooming season.
The seamless fusion of natural beauty and cultural diversity is what distinguishes Sikkim tours from other types of travel. A profound sense of awe and wonder is intended to be evoked by each Sikkim package, which is a meticulously curated journey into the heart of the Himalayas. Imagine enjoying vibrant celebrations like Losar and Saga Dawa or observing the golden hues of sunrise over the majestic Kanchenjunga from the Pelling viewpoint.
A Sikkim tour also offers the chance to experience the region's distinctive cuisine. Travellers can treat their palates to regional specialities like Phagshapa, Gundruk soup, and Sikkimese tea, which is brewed with an aromatic blend of spices. Here, eating is more than just a sensory experience; it's also a window into another culture and a symbol of the coexistence of many different traditions in this state.
A Sikkim tour's most intriguing feature may be the deep spiritual connection one experiences while touring the region's holy sites. Every place of worship in Sikkim, from the important Tibetan Buddhist centre Rumtek Monastery to the serene seclusion of Phensang Monastery's caves, adds a layer of profound depth to your travel arrangements.
Sikkim is, in essence, more than just a place to visit; it is an emotion, a symphony of the natural beauties, cultural treasures, and spiritual enlightenments. With a Sikkim tour, you can take the path less taken, see the unspoiled beauty of the Himalayan landscapes, and get lost in the calming rhythm of its age-old customs. “ In Ladakh, find the perfect blend of culture, adventure, and serenity. December last year I decided that my next trip would be Ladakh but didn’t know how to go about it. I knew I wanted to travel in a group, as I had prior experiences of traveling in a group but wanted an organiser I could trust. Ladakh isn’t like other destinations wherein you need some instructions due to the high altitudes.

Sikkim Entry Protocol
To promote tourism in Sikkim, constraints on the entry of tourists in the restricted areas have been considerably relaxed; however visitors should follow the underlying necessary guidelines to have a hassle-free experience while visiting this picturesque state of India. Indian Nationals intending to visit Sikkim do not require any special permit while visiting some of the unrestricted areas like Gangtok, Yuksom, Rumtek, Pemayangtse, Phodong etc, but visiting certain areas of North Sikkim like Yumthang Valley, Chungthang, Lachung, Yumesamdong, Lachen, Thangu, Chopta and Gurudongmar Lake, it is mandatory even for Indian nationals also to obtain a permit.
Foreign Nationals intending to visit Sikkim can obtain a permit for an initial period of 15 days which is extendable up to 30 days. The permits can be arranged very easily at several places such as Siliguri, Darjeeling, Rongpo and Malli. These permits can also be obtained from Indian Embassy at different places. Foreign tourists have to travel in groups of two or more to visit restricted and protected areas of Sikkim like Yumthang Valley, as they are not allowed to club and go with Indian tourists.
There are however further restrictions on visiting several places deeper inside Sikkim. Both domestic and foreign visitors require special permits to visit Tsongo and Nathula area which is a day tour from Gangtok. Foreigners can only visit Tsongo and not Nathula.
Restricted Area Permit and Protected Area Permit Regime
Sikkim has certain entry restrictions and is under a restricted area regime due to its proximity with neighbouring countries like China. This State is divided into 3 areas based on travel restrictions. Some parts require Protected Area Permit (PAP) while some require Restricted Area Permit (RAP). Therefore all foreign nationals require Restricted Area Permit to visit any part of Sikkim. Earlier this permit was known as Inner Line Permit (ILP). Indians however do not require this but there are other restrictions for all including Indians for few specific places in Sikkim. There are certain areas like Tsomgo Lake, Dzongri etc which are defined as Protected Areas and have special army deployment. Both foreigners and Indians require a Protected Area Permit (PAP) to visit such places. But few protected border areas like Nathulla are not accessible to foreigners at all, while Indians can still visit with the Protected Area Permit.
Restricted Area Permits (RAP) This permit is mandatory only for foreigners who wish to enter Sikkim. It is free of cost. All that is required is a valid Passport along with an Indian visa. With proper documentation, it takes less than 30 minutes to get the permit. Protected Area Permits (PAP) This permit is applicable for both foreigners and Indians intending to visit protected areas. Solo foreigners are not permitted in such areas. Additionally foreign tourists wanting to go trekking in the interiors of Sikkim should apply for the PAP through tour operators who are registered with Sikkim Tourism Department and the trekking programme should be arranged by them. Photo ID proof like passport, voter's ID card or a driving license would be the required documentation.
