Bruce Springsteen performs live in 2013

Bruce Springsteen is set to return to the UK and Europe with The E Street Band next summer for a huge summer stadium tour.

The gigs follow a 2023 run that marked the band’s first UK gigs in six years and begin in Cardiff on May 5 next year.

The announcement comes after Springsteen cancelled the remainder of his 2023 tour dates in the US due to a “monster” peptic ulcer, rearranging the gigs for between March and September next year.

The UK and European tour will also take place across that timeframe, taking in gigs in Cardiff, Sunderland, Ireland and beyond, before finishing at London’s Wembley Stadium on July 25.

There’s also a gap in the schedule for next year’s Glastonbury Festival (June 26-30), where Springsteen headlined in 2009 and joined Paul McCartney on the Pyramid Stage in 2022.

See the full list of new gigs below and find ticket details here .

MAY 2024 5 – Cardiff, Principality Stadium 9 – Belfast, Boucher Road 12 – Kilkenny, Nowlan Park 16 – Cork, Páirc Uí Chaoimh 19 – Dublin, Croke Park 22 – Sunderland, Stadium of Light 25 – Marseille, Orange Vélodrome 28 – Prague, Airport Letnany JUNE 2024 1 – Milan, San Siro 3 – Milan, San Siro 12 – Madrid, Cívitas Metropolitano 14 – Madrid, Cívitas Metropolitano 20 – Barcelona, Estadi Olímpic 27 – Nijmegen, Goffertpark JULY 2024 2 – Werchter, Werchter Park 5 – Hannover, Heinz von Heiden Arena 9 – Odense, Dyrskuepladsen 12 – Helsinki, Olympic Stadium 15 – Stockholm, Friends Arena 18 – Stockholm, Friends Arena 21 – Bergen, Dokken 25 – London, Wembley Stadium

Back in 2021,  Springsteen became the latest artist to sell off the masters and publishing rights to his entire back catalogue  in a hugely lucrative deal.

The Boss struck a $500 million (£377 million) agreement with Sony Music, giving the label total control over his musical life’s work, which encompasses 20 studio albums, more than 300 songs, 7 EPs and 23 live records.

Bruce Springsteen Tour 2024: E Street Band headed to Europe during 2024 World Tour

3 minute read.

springsteen european tour 2024

Europe is a go.

On Halloween, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band announced 22 shows in the spring and summer of 2024 in the United Kingdom and Europe.

On Wednesday, Nov. 1 fans started purchasing tickets via pre-sales.

“Wembley, Cardiff and Prague in the bag,” commented a fan Wednesday on Facebook, with a smiley face.

The shows begin May 5 at Cardiff, Wales, and wrap up July 25 at Wembley Stadium in London. Ticket prices range from $90 to $218, once converted to American dollars, for the Wembley show, according to social media postings.

The upcoming tour includes three shows in Ireland.

“Oh my so who else is planning a week in Ireland next May?” commented a fan.

Fan Howard Bloom from Ottawa, Ontario, will be flying to Milan, where the E Street Band is playing June 12 and 14 at San Siro Stadium.

“I booked a hotel and I'm heading to San Siro,” said Bloom via email, adding that Milan and Israel are the two places left on his Bruce Bucket List. “I'm not a fan of stadium shows, but this is the one place I can go where Bruce and the E Street Band will be.”

The European tour announcement, billed as the 2024 World Tour, comes after 24 North American shows postponed earlier this year were rescheduled for the spring and summer of 2024 due to Springsteen recovering from a bout with peptic ulcer disease.

“It's better this week than it was last, and I want to thank everyone for their support and well wishes,” said Springsteen Oct. 9 on his SiriusXM “From My Home to Yours” show , which was taped two weeks ago. “We will see you in the new year and we will bring it to you in your town at the top of our game — there's no other way.”

The last E Street Band show was a triumphal Sept. 3 show at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford . Steven Van Zandt said thay the Boss was playing in “pain” at MetLife on the Naked Lunch podcast.

“You have to give him credit because most people say that last show we did was the best show they've ever seen,” Van Zandt said.

Springsteen made two unannounced public appearances over the weekend, first on Oct. 28 at the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music symposium marking the 50th anniversary of “The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle” at Monmouth University in West Long Branch. He appeared on two panels.

On Oct. 29, the Boss inducted his wife, E Street Band member Patti Scialfa, into the New Jersey Hall of Fame. He also sang backup with Scialfa, Van Zandt and Tony Orlando for a rendition of “With a Little Help from My Friends” by the evening's house band.

Fans in the U.S. are hopeful more dates will be added for 2024.

“I can’t see him passing over New Jersey and New York, so it wouldn’t surprise me to see a few more added,” said Brandon Thompson of Blog It All Night . “Hopefully markets like Nashville that they missed the first time around get some shows as well.”

Before then, Van Zandt told the USA Today Network NJ that he and the Disciples of Soul will be accompanying Darlene Love on the Friday, Dec. 15, broadcast of “The View” as she sings “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home).”

Bruce Springsteen is returning to the UK and Ireland as part of a European stadium tour in summer 2024.

In June, the musician, 74, broke his six-year UK touring hiatus to play two shows at BST Festival in Hyde Park . The gigs were a part of his wide-ranging world tour, which was his first with the E Street Band since 2017.

It’s now been revealed that Springsteen will continue proving all night he was born to tour with a string of European stadium dates, alongside his trusty E Street Band members, from May to July 2024.

As part of these dates, the musician will return to Wembley Stadium , for the first time since 2016, where he will play the London venue on 25 July. He will also play stadium shows in Cardiff, Sunderland as well in other European cities, including Dublin, Marseilles and Stockholm.

The new announcement was shared on the musician’s social media pages, with the statement: “Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band delivered “the greatest show on earth” ( Billboard ) across Europe this past summer, and they’ll make a triumphant return to the continent in 2024 with a just-announced 22-show stadium run.”

These new dates come after Springsteen was forced to postpone the remainder of his 2023 dates as he recovered from peptic ulcer disease.

The “Dancing in the Dark” singer initially announced in early September that he would be cancelling the remainder of his gigs that month while he underwent treatment for the disease.

The delay of Springsteen’s return to live music was mostly down to the pandemic, but also due to other projects the musician undertook, including his one-man show Springsteen on Broadway and his studio film Western Stars , which was directed by Thom Zimny, in 2019.

His 2020 record Letter to You was also received an accompanying film, which is available to stream on Apple TV+.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band Announce 2024 European Tour

B ruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will return to Europe in the spring and summer of 2024 for a new stadium tour that currently features 22 confirmed dates.

The trek is scheduled to kick off on May 5 in Cardiff, Wales, in the U.K., and is plotted out through a July 25 concert at Wembley Stadium in London. The tour also will stop in a couple of other U.K. cities, as well as in Ireland, France, the Czech Republic, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, and Norway.

Springsteen and company’s 2024 European itinerary includes two-night stands in Milan, Italy; Madrid, Spain; and Stockholm, Sweden.

Tickets for a July 9 show in Odense, Denmark, will be available for purchase starting this Thursday, November 2, while tickets for the other concerts will go on sale over the next several days after that. Visit BruceSpringsteen.net for more details. Tickets are also available via StubHub .

Springsteen and the E Street Band also visited Europe this year for a tour that ran from late April to late July. The new European outing is sandwiched between 2024 North American tour legs that feature U.S. and Canadian shows that were postponed after the Boss was sidelined because he needed medical treatment for peptic ulcer disease.

The rescheduled North American dates include a 10-show series of U.S. shows taking place in March and April, followed by six more U.S. concerts in August and September, and eight Canadian dates in late October and November.

Meanwhile, in honor of Halloween on Tuesday, Springsteen’s social media pages offered up a special spooky post featuring a clip from the music video for the Boss’ 2008 song “ A Night with the Jersey Devil .” The track originally was released as a download-only single as a “Halloween treat” for fans on October 31, 2008. It was inspired by tales of a legendary creature that supposedly haunts New Jersey’s Pine Barrens region.

The post is accompanied by a note that reads, “The legend lives!” followed by a related quote from Springsteen: “If you grew up in central or south Jersey, you grew up with the ‘Jersey Devil.’”

The “A Night with the Jersey Devil” video later appeared on a DVD packaged with the deluxe version of Springsteen’s 2009 studio album Working on a Dream , while the track was featured on a 7-inch vinyl that was released as part of the 2009 Record Store Day event.

The new 2024 shows follow a huge run of shows that Springsteen played across the UK earlier this year including his concerts in Edinburgh and Birmingham and a two-night headline slot at London’s BST Hyde Park .

It also follows The Boss being forced to postpone the remainder of his upcoming 2023 tour dates due to a continuous battle with peptic ulcer disease.

The rock veteran – now aged 74 – had initially fallen ill with a then-undisclosed illness back in August that resulted in two cancelled Philadelphia shows. Three weeks later, all of Springsteen’s September tour dates were postponed when it was revealed that the singer had been diagnosed with peptic ulcers.

Earlier this month he rescheduled the affected US tour dates and confirmed to fans that he’d be embarking on the tour between March and September 2024 instead. You can find any remaining tickets to US shows here .

In other Springsteen news, the singer, songwriter and guitarist praised his wife and bandmate Patti Scialfa as he inducted her into the New Jersey Hall Of Fame .

The rock legend – who was also honoured by the Hall of Fame in 2008 – described her as his “secret weapon” as he gave her the award at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark.

Bruce Springsteen Announces Lots More 2024 Tour Dates

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have announced 22 additional concerts for their 2024 tour. The summer shows in the U.K., Ireland, and Europe, were revealed on Oct. 31. On Oct. 6, Springsteen revealed the rescheduled dates for the balance of his 2023 North American concerts that were postponed due to the legend’s continued recovery from a peptic ulcer disease. That decision, citing “doctor’s advice” and “an abundance of caution” KO’d more than 20 shows that were supposed to run through December 10. On Sept. 6, Springsteen postponed all of his remaining September concerts while being treated. The band was already scheduled to take a break during October before resuming with another run of concerts in November and December. Those are all pushed back to 2024; see the revised dates below.

In a Sept. 27 post, Springsteen wrote, “Thanks to all my friends and fans for your good wishes, encouragement, and support. I’m on the mend and can’t wait to see you all next year.”

Springsteen’s earlier statement on Sept. 6 noted: “Over here on E Street, we’re heartbroken to have to postpone these shows. First, apologies to our fabulous Philly fans who we missed a few weeks ago. We’ll be back to pick these shows up and then some. Thank you for your understanding and support. We’ve been having a blast at our U.S. shows and we’re looking forward to more great times. We’ll be back soon. Love and God bless all, Bruce.”

Most recently, Springsteen and the E Street Band had done three concerts at Metlife Stadium in E. Rutherford, N.J. The most recent was on Sept. 3. Just days before, he had announced the first 2024 dates of his international tour. They’re actually the two concerts in Philadelphia that were originally planned for August 2023. The pair of shows at Citizens Bank Park were abruptly postponed when the Boss took ill. Those two concerts are scheduled for August 2024, leading to speculation that Springsteen and his band will move the rest of the 2023 postponed shows to then. The tour began on Feb. 1 and continued in U.S. arenas through mid April. A second leg, of European stadium concerts followed, beginning on April 28 and concluding on July 25. A run of U.S. stadiums took place over the summer. After a break, they were scheduled to resume on Nov. 3 with arena concerts in Canada, finishing with shows in the U.S. on December 10. See the itinerary below. The original news of the tour arrived at the stroke of midnight ET on May 24, 2022.

The 2023 dates marked the first live shows for Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band since the conclusion of their 14-month, worldwide The River Tour in February 2017. The River Tour was named 2016’s top global tour by both Billboard and Pollstar.

Still no England on that list (not to mention Scotland & Wales as well) – personally I think Bruce should make it up to us (in England) by doing a few smaller scale gigs in Brighton (maybe the Dome?) come on Bruce, do the right thing…

Springsteen was never the future of rock & roll but he is a great artist, performer. He is so overrated by the media along with his fans that it’s pathetic.

You say he is great then overrated. By who, you ? Selling out stadiums & arenas all over the world after a 50 year plus career. The only pathetic one is you with your absurd comment.

Bruce Springsteen and E Street Band alive and well in 3-plus hours of thunderous hits

springsteen european tour 2024

The pent-up demand for Bruce Springsteen and his E Street Band had put ardent fans on edge.

Would the Boss' energy be the same after the rocker was forced to cancel last year's show in March due to illness and then a rescheduled performance in September due to a peptic ulcer?

Did the 74-year-old still have the stamina to navigate a stage for more than three hours? To gyrate with his guitar and hit the high notes of ballads and rock classics? To remember the lyrics as he's done for more than four decades in over 1,300 concerts with the band?

The answer, from about 20,000 devotees at Sunday's concert at Nationwide Arena, was a resounding, deafening "Yes." It was the band's first show in Columbus since 2016.

The tone was set in the opening bars of "Youngstown," a nod to the Rust Belt factories that build the weaponry "that won this country's wars," but then died off to leave empty shells and unemployment. A searing guitar solo by Nils Lofgren infused the song with powerful shards of despair.

And like the canon blast after a Columbus Blue Jackets' goal, "Lonesome Days" followed, with a jarring rim shot by drummer Max Weinberg, a percussive human metronome throughout the sell-out concert that lasted about three hours and 10 minutes.

Springsteen, in a short-sleeve denim shirt, black vest and purple tie, appeared to relish the arena crowd. With eyes often closed, he channeled deeply personal songs like "The Promised Land," The Rising," and "Ghosts."

His grimacing was not from bad joints, but during his guitar solos, thrashing the strings during extended versions of favorites such as "Streets of Fire."

He didn't pause much between songs, often exchanging one guitar for another by tossing it to a stagehand, as Weinberg continued to strafe the crowd with nonstop rhythmic transitions.

During "Spirit in the Night," Springsteen graciously walked behind the stage to focus on those seated behind the band, sauntering at times for effect.

He ended up in front, resting his legs on the edge of the stage and his back against saxophonist Jake Clemons, whose uncle Clarence Clemons, also a sax player, was one of Springsteen's closest friends.

While mortality and distant youth were themes that may have resonated with the older crowd, many of whom were in high school or college when Springsteen blasted into stardom in the late 1970s and early '80s, there were also some younger fans.

Michelle Grinestaff and her husband, Jared Schuetter, brought their daughters, Claudia, 14, and Vivian, 12, both of whom had memorized many of Bruce's hits.

"She's been playing Springsteen their entire lives," said Schuetter of his wife.

Grinestaff's attraction followed her father Jerry's, a rabid fan who, two years ago died of pulmonary fibrosis. The night before his passing, she told him she really wanted him to come to last year's concert with the girls. "He said to just make sure you have a good time," she recalled, halting to wipe a tear.

She vividly recalls that Springsteen's "Racing in the Street" was playing while to spoke to her dad. She hoped she'd hear it Sunday night.

Photos: Taylor Swift played 5 concerts in Columbus before release of The Tortured Poets Department

Sure enough, the concert's 19th song, "Racing in the Street," was a beautiful rendition of love, loss and redemption with exquisite interplay between Roy Bittan's piano and Charles Giordano's organ. The audience quickly silenced, seemingly in hushed awe of Springsteen's meticulous alchemy of music and lyrics, considered by many among his best work.

The Boss still is in top form, telling the audience that his little "bellyache" from last year is a memory. "It's all good now," he said. He even skipped across the stage at one point during "Hungry Heart."

Springsteen seems to thrive on the adulation, but not in a selfish manner. He's keenly aware of audience temperament. And knowing when to end a marathon show is about having empathy for the crowd, which stood most of the night.

Typical of the band's recent encores, the iconic "Born to Run" led a string of hits, including "Rosalita (Come out Tonight)," "Bobby Jean," "Dancing in the Dark" and "Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out."

Full, bright arena lighting illuminated the crowd during a medley of oldie covers, including a Detroit medley, "Devil with the Blue Dress On/Good Golly Miss Molly and C.C. Rider," among others.

Brothers Darrell and Don Miller, of Hilliard, both in their early 60s, recalled before the concert training for high school basketball with a coach playing the song "Born to Run" endlessly to inspire track workouts.

"It's the one song not on my playlist," said Don, "because I had to run laps to that thing for two years."

Live Music: Rap-icon Future coming to Schottenstein Center with Metro Boomin on Aug. 10

Fair Concerts: Ice Cube, Jamey Johnson added to Ohio State Fair's concert lineup

Darrell couldn't help wonder how much longer Springsteen can keep running.

"He's going overseas. This might be his ride off into the sunset," he said.

The blast furnace of a performance is the tour's last in the U.S. as the band now heads to Great Britain to begin its European tour. It returns in late summer, including two shows in Pittsburgh on Aug. 15 and 18.

Toward the show's final encore, "I'll See You in my Dreams," from his 2020 album, "Letter to You," Springsteen bent over in feigned (or likely real) exhaustion.

"I don't think you got anything left," he challenged the crowd, which answered in a deafening roar. "Are you saying you can outlast the E Street Band?"

A test of an artist's emotional reach is often found in the most distant seats. In the upper bowl, at the far end of the Nationwide stage, fans could be seen dancing, pumping their arms and waving.

Springsteen looked skyward, opened his eyes and smiled broadly.

Taylor Swift at the 2024 Grammy awards.

Taylor Swift equals Madonna’s record of 12 UK No 1 albums

Swift now has joint highest number of chart-toppers for a female artist, as The Tortured Poets Department earns biggest opening week in seven years

Taylor Swift has tied with Madonna to become the female artist with the most UK No 1 albums, earning her twelfth chart-topper with the global phenomenon that is The Tortured Poets Department.

Swift also dominates this week’s singles chart, with three songs in the Top Five including a No 1 for Fortnight, featuring Post Malone. It’s her fourth No 1 single, and her third chart double.

With 207,000 chart sales, a figure combined from streams and purchases, The Tortured Poets Department outsold the rest of the Top 10 combined and has the UK’s biggest opening week of sales in seven years, since Ed Sheeran’s ÷ in 2017.

Bruce Springsteen also has 12 No 1s, while the only artists with more are the Beatles (16), the Rolling Stones (14), Robbie Williams (14) and Elvis Presley (13).

No artist has got to 12 No 1s as swiftly as Swift, though – she did it in 11 years and six months, considerably quicker than the Beatles, who needed to wait until 1977’s The Beatles at Hollywood Bowl to get their 12th. Eight of those No 1s have been since 2020, partly thanks to her project to re-record her albums from an ill-fated deal with former label Big Machine.

The Tortured Poets Department, a 31-track, two-hour double album which includes songs that pick apart her recent relationships with actor Joe Alwyn and singer Matty Healy with unflinching candour, has further established Swift as the century’s biggest music star.

It became the most streamed album in a single day on Spotify, then the fastest album to reach a billion streams on the platform. Twenty-two of the 50 most streamed songs globally on Thursday were by Swift.

After three days on sale, Swift had sold 700,000 vinyl copies of The Tortured Poets Department in the US, breaking the weekly record (since records began in 1991). That number is particularly remarkable considering that around a million vinyl albums were sold in total in the US in 2023, with nearly 10% of those sold by Swift (chiefly her album Midnights).

The rest of the UK chart is put rather in the shade, but last week’s singles chart-topper Hozier manages to outsell a couple of Swift’s songs and sit at No 2. Swift’s recent tour support artist Sabrina Carpenter rises to No 5 with her peppy Espresso, now the second-most streamed track globally on Spotify.

In the album chart, Pearl Jam reach No 2 with Dark Matter to earn their tenth UK Top 10 album and joint-highest placing. UB40 reach No 5 with their album UB45, their highest placing since 1994. Thanks to a special Record Store Day release, Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours – spending its 1,042nd week in the UK charts – jumps up to No 9.

With TTPD out in the world, Swift now looks to the next leg of her Eras tour. After concluding the Asia and Australia leg with six nights at Singapore’s National Stadium in March, she will begin the European leg on 9 May with four nights in Paris. Eras reaches the UK on 7 June at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium, and later includes eight dates at Wembley Stadium, equalling a record set by Take That.

According to data by US live music analysts Pollstar, Eras had already made over $1bn in revenue by the end of 2023, and estimates that by the end of the tour in December it will gross over $2bn – comprehensively beating the previous record of $939m set by Elton John’s farewell tour.

She will probably score her 13th No 1 album as early as 2024, with fans looking forward to her re-recorded version of 2017 album Reputation – a release date has not yet been announced.
