taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

Last night, Taylor Swift wore blue to her Eras Tour film premiere . And while it may not seem like a groundbreaking statement for the average person, for the pop star, it says a whole lot.

Dressing like an Old Hollywood starlet while also paying tribute to her 1989 album, Swift wore a powder blue Oscar de la Renta gown with floral embroidery and cutouts on the red carpet (if you're a diehard Swiftie, you know that blue is the official color of 1989 , which is the next album to be re-released by the singer). She paired the dress with matching open-toe heels, diamond jewelry, and a faux bob haircut with bombshell waves and forehead fringe. The strapless blue gown in combination with her vintage hairstyle seemingly nodded to Swift's "Karma" music video, as well.

She finished off her glam with her signature red lipstick, black winged liner, and blue eyeshadow that complemented the hue of her gown.

Moments before she arrived at the event, Swift included lyrics from her Reputation album in an announcement posted to Instagram. “Look what you genuinely made me do: Due to unprecedented demand we’re opening up early access showings of The Eras Tour Concert Film on Thursday in America and Canada!! As in… TOMORROW," she wrote, adding: "I can’t thank you enough for wanting to see this film that so vividly captures my favorite adventure I’ve ever been a part of: The Eras Tour. And the best part is, it’s an adventure we’re still on together."

The concert film is being released by AMC Theaters, and thanks to the presale tickets, it's already one of the highest-grossing movies of 2023 . The project is reportedly estimated to generate up to $145 million opening weekend, which would break box office records.

Taylor Swift at "The Eras Tour" concert film premiere in Los Angeles.

Taylor Swift is in her Hollywood star era. The singer attended the highly anticipated premiere of “ Taylor Swift : The Eras Tour” film, a visual rendering of her latest record-breaking stadium tour, at The Grove in Los Angeles on Wednesday night. Swift walked on the red carpet in a light blue Oscar de la Renta dress and matching Giuseppe Zanotti heels.

Beyoncé, Marren Moris, Molly Sims, Simu Liu, Karamo Brown, Adam Sandler and Mariska Hargitay attended the premiere event.

After the screening, Swift shared a tribute to Beyoncé on Instagram. “I’m so glad I’ll never know what my life would’ve been like without @beyonce‘s influence. The way she’s taught me and every artist out here to break rules and defy industry norms. Her generosity of spirit. Her resilience and versatility. She’s been a guiding light throughout my career and the fact that she showed up tonight was like an actual fairytale,” she wrote.

“ The Eras Tour ” concert film is being released by AMC Theatres. As of last Thursday, the production had surpassed $100 million in advance ticket sales worldwide, entering theaters as the highest-grossing concert film in history — “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never,” which garnered $99 million in advance ticket sales worldwide in 2011, is now the second in the list.

Thanks to the presale tickets, “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” is already one of 2023’s highest-grossing movies . The film is reportedly estimated to generate up to $125 million from approximately 3,850 theaters in North America and add $30 million to $50 million from 4,150 venues internationally.

On Wednesday, AMC announced a raffle promotion on X (former Twitter), giving fans the chance to win a prize pack filled with “The Eras Tour” merchandise . “Share why you’re excited to see #TSTheErasTourFilm at #AMCTheatres for a chance to win this exclusive prize pack! 3 winners will be selected. You must include #TSTheErasTourFilm in your reply to be entered to win,” AMC wrote on Twitter.

Swift received a SAG-AFTRA interim agreement to promote “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.” The agreement is given to non-AMPTP (Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers) productions that meet the same standards the unions are seeking in their negotiations with the studios.

“The Eras Tour” began on March 17 in Glendale, Arizona and it has since traveled through the U.S. and Mexico. In August, Swift added 15 new dates in the U.S., bringing her total shows to 146 across five continents. The tour, which features a set list of 44 songs divided into 10 eras of her career, is currently on pause and set to resume on Nov. 9 in Buenos Aires. According to Billboard, the tour is set to make more than $1 billion in ticket sales, surpassing Elton John ‘s record of $853 million with “Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour.”

While on vacation from her tour, Swift has been enjoying her free time with family and friends. The singer made headlines on Sept. 24 after accepting Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce ’s public invitation to watch him play against the Chicago Bears. On Oct. 1, she cheered on Kelce once again, this time accompanied by her friends Sophie Turner and Blake Lively . The singer has also been named one of the most popular Halloween costume inspirations for this year.

After its first weekend, “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” film will be only shown from Thursday through Sunday for the following three weekends in selected movie theaters worldwide.

Taylor Swift Wore a Blue ‘1989’-Inspired Dress for the L.A. Premiere of Her Eras Tour Film

preview for Taylor Swift’s Iconic Career Evolution

Swift, of course, is currently on break from her tour after finishing the first leg and the majority of her U.S. dates. She’ll resume the tour in November and continue her international shows.

At the end of August, Swift reflected on how she felt about releasing the concert film. “The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful, electric experience of my life so far and I’m overjoyed to tell you that it’ll be coming to the big screen soon 😆 ,” she wrote on Instagram. “Starting Oct 13th you’ll be able to experience the concert film in theaters in North America! Tickets are on sale now. Eras attire, friendship bracelets, singing and dancing encouraged 🫶 1, 2, 3 LGB!!!! (iykyk) ”

This isn’t Swift’s only big release this month. 1989 (Taylor’s Version) is coming too and will be out on October 27; the blue dress she wore to the film premiere is most likely a nod to the rerecord, which Swift announced back in August by wearing a slew of blue outfits one night of her tour.

When announcing the news of the album, Swift wrote , “The 1989 album changed my life in countless ways, and it fills me with such excitement to announce that my version of it will be out October 27th. To be perfectly honest, this is my most FAVORITE re-record I’ve ever done because the 5 From The Vault tracks are so insane. I can’t believe they were ever left behind. But not for long!”

Taylor Swift finished off the U.S. leg of The Eras Tour with a special announcement.

The Grammy-winning musician performed her final show of the U.S. portion of her highly-grossing tour last night. While on stage after the “1989” set, she announced to the crowd that the re-recording of the album, “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” would be available on October 27, with an additional five new vault tracks.

Swift also debuted a new ballgown for the “Speak Now” portion of the evening. She wore a sparkly crystal dress with a halter neckline from Nicole + Felicia.

On Tuesday night, Swift brought out a new blue look for her “Midnights” set, the final portion of the concert. She wore a new blue bodysuit from Zuhair Murad, that many fans thought resembled a blue sequin bodysuit she wore during the original “1989” World Tour in 2015. Swift wore the new bodysuit again on Wednesday night.

While the U.S leg is over for now, Swift isn’t taking anytime off soon. She begins the international leg of The Eras Tour on August 24 in Mexico City. She is set to complete the tour on November 23, 2024 in Toronto.

Taylor Swift and the Sparkling Trap of Constant Reinvention

Why do our female pop stars have to keep changing their clothes?

  • Share full article

Ms. Swift performing in a multicolored sequined bodysuit and sequined knee-high boots.

By Vanessa Friedman

Oscar de la Renta. Versace. Alberta Ferretti. Roberto Cavalli. Elie Saab. Christian Louboutin. Zuhair Murad. Ashish. The list of the designers who have made looks for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour , which began just over a month ago in Arizona and ends in California in August before heading overseas, is like a mini-tour of fashion weeks, replete with sparkles, chiffon and a message tee.

The resulting dress-up extravaganza has been greeted, not surprisingly, with heart-thumping enthusiasm. So many clothes! So much glitter! So fun! There are pages of stories online breathlessly documenting “Every Outfit Taylor Swift Has Worn on Her Eras World Tour” (as Elle Australia put it). And new styles keep emerging, enabling new coverage. As if sheer wardrobe abundance is an achievement unto itself.

It’s possible it is. The logistics alone are daunting: How do you change that much, and that fast, while in the middle of a performance?

Certainly it has raised the bar for the artists who are touring next, as we enter the Summer of the Diva: Madonna , who is embarking on a retrospective tour (just imagine the looks that one could involve), and Beyoncé, who set the bar sky-high in August when she dropped a teaser of sorts via the “I’m That Girl” trailer, which involved at least seven looks compressed into a few minutes, from cyborg goddess to cowboy dominatrix to killer Audrey Hepburn.

But it’s also possible to see in all these Swiftian clothes, all the wardrobe switcheroos, something else. It’s possible that they are, actually, not just a tour down memory lane but a more pointed piece of meta-commentary on the expectation that female pop stars unveil new versions of themselves for our viewing pleasure, one-upping their old image with new wardrobes ad infinitum. And a message that Ms. Swift is, perhaps, calling time on the whole thing.

The promise of reinvention is a core American value: the belief that everyone has the right to a fresh start, that you are limited only by your imagination and abilities. It’s intrinsically linked to the promise of fashion, which likewise dangles the lure of a new you; of allowing you to try on different selves until you settle into one that feels right.

Yet it is also its own kind of prison, as Ms. Swift, who has made a habit of embedding meaning into her wardrobe choices, said in her 2020 documentary, “ Miss Americana .”

“The female artists that I know of have reinvented themselves 20 times more than the male artists,” she says in a voice-over toward the end of the film, as various versions of her public personas flash by: teenage Taylor, with her gold ringlets, sparkly blue eye shadow and princess dresses; “1989” Taylor, with her ironed bob and glittery bodysuits; “Reputation” angry Taylor, with snakes crawling up her limbs.

This is necessary, Ms. Swift continues, because otherwise “you’re out of a job.”

At the time she was talking about her newfound political voice as well as her new album, “Lover” (now three albums and at least two Taylors ago: the earth nymph Taylor of “Folklore” and “Evermore,” and the dreamer Taylor of “Midnights”). But in many ways, what she meant is laid bare (so to speak) in her Eras Tour.

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

Each musical era revisited in the show had — and has — its own look, all 10 or so of them. To watch her go through them in succession is to see not just fabulous clothes worn with purpose, but also the hamster wheel of constant reinvention that has been the model for contemporary female pop stars since Madonna set the tone in the 1980s.

It’s particularly stark in comparison with another musical act now touring to similar response and acclaim: Bruce Springsteen. Mr. Springsteen is 73, and his style hasn’t changed much in 50 years. He’s still in beat-up jeans and a denim shirt, bracelets around his wrist, boots on his feet.

To be fair, there are male rock stars who have made a game out of reinvention: most notably David Bowie but also, to a certain extent, Harry Styles (though he generally dons one statement outfit per night). And there are women — Lucinda Williams, Patti Smith — who bucked the trend.

But it is also true, said Kathy Iandoli, an adjunct professor at the New York University Steinhardt School and the author of “God Save the Queens: The Essential History of Women in Hip-Hop,” that the pressure to dress up and change up falls exponentially on women. “1,000 percent,” Ms. Iandoli said. “There’s a level of costuming that comes with being a female pop star, a way for labels to market creativity. And if you are known as an evolutionary artist you are always held to the standard of ‘what’s the next version of you?’”

Ms. Swift has turned that pressure to her own ends as cannily as anyone. Her makeovers, which coincide with her sonic evolutions, are not the same as the makeover imposed on the main character in the Lady Gaga version of “A Star Is Born,” in which studio bigwigs force their latest discovery into Creamsicle hair, new outfits and new dance moves — a ginned-up version of herself she rejects after her husband’s death.

By contrast, Ms. Swift (with her stylist Joseph Cassell Falconer) has been her own wardrobe mistress, and her fans, many of whom show up dressed as their favorite Taylor, can relate.

But even Gaga, a master of the fashion-music makeover, seemingly rebelled against the imperative at this year’s Oscars when, rather than change into yet another showstopping gown for her performance, she subverted all expectations by donning ripped jeans and a black T-shirt and scrubbing her face bare, as if to say to the watching world: enough.

Fernando Garcia, a creative director of Oscar de la Renta, which made a lavender faux-fur coat with matching crystal-embroidered T-shirt dress and a midnight-blue, crystal-embroidered jumpsuit for the current tour, said that working with Ms. Swift on Eras felt “very much like a full circle moment.” If so, perhaps it’s also a sign that another era is coming to an end.

At one point in the Eras show, when Ms. Swift is singing “Look What You Made Me Do,” all of the old Taylors are embodied by different backup dancers in different outfits in different little glass boxes — all those mini-mes of the past, trapped in their own limited spaces, in their old wardrobes, only to finally break free .

As fashion metaphors go, it’s hard to miss.

An earlier version of a picture caption with this article misidentified the location of the opening night of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. It was in Glendale, Ariz., not Arlington, Texas.

Every outfit Taylor Swift wears on the Eras Tour, ranked

  • Taylor Swift recently kicked off the South American leg of the Eras Tour .
  • She has worn more than 40 different outfits on stage, with unique styles for each album.
  • Insider's music team ranked them from worst to best, with the original "Lover" bodysuit in the top spot.

46. The surprise song dress in yellow

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

Each night during the Eras Tour, Taylor Swift performs an acoustic set with two surprise songs .

The dress for this segment is designed for a quick change; Swift slips it over the "1989" outfit while still on stage. It makes sense for the dress to be plain. But it doesn't make sense for the fabric to be the same color as Big Bird.

Frankly, the yellow dress is ugly. It's way too yellow.

45. The surprise song dress in green

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

The green dress isn't ugly, but it's not especially stunning either.

44. The surprise song dress in pink

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

The pink dress still isn't anything to write home about, but generally speaking, Swift looks good in pink.

43. The surprise song dress in blue

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

Swift wore blue versions of several classic tour looks for the night she announced "1989 (Taylor's Version)."

This is the best surprise song dress, purely because it reminds me of Sharpay Evans singing "Bop to the Top."

42. The "Speak Now" ballgown that's growing mushrooms

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

The flowers plopped all over this dress are flimsy and unpleasant-looking. I would be glad to never see it again.

41. The "Red" romper

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

Honestly, Swift's outfits never slay during the "Red" segment, but the ombre romper is the worst offender. It's not terrible, but it doesn't do anything for her.

40. The "All Too Well" jacket

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

Swift dons glittery, floor-grazing outerwear to perform "All Too Well (10 Minute Version)," which helps make the "Red" segment a bit more sophisticated — though it doesn't match the somber vibe of the song. I much preferred the sleek look that Swift wore to perform the song on "Saturday Night Live."

39. The "22" shirt

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

There are three versions of this shirt, inspired by an outfit worn by Swift in the "22" music video: "A lot going on at the moment," "We are never getting back together like ever," and "Who's Taylor Swift anyway? Ew." The shirt is always paired with a black bowler hat.

The shirt isn't exactly high-fashion, but it gets extra points for the nostalgia factor. The hat is ugly, but it gets even more extra points for the cuteness factor, since Swift always gives it to a special fan in the crowd .

38. The "Fearless" dress in gold

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

As Insider's Courteney Larocca has bravely noted , the "weird noodle-like strings" that hang from this dress are absolutely uncalled for.

37. The "Fearless" dress in silver

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

Silver is slightly better than gold, but the tassels still look like octopus tentacles.

36. The cupcake-shaped "Speak Now" ballgown

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

It's too puffy!

35. The pink "Karma" jacket

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

It's too pink!

34. The pink-and-purple "Midnights" look

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

This is a much nicer shade of pink.

33. The blue-and-purple "Midnights" look

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

Blue makes sense for " Midnights ," especially because the album cover features a light-blue font, so this is a happier marriage than the purple coat and pink dress underneath.

32. The extra-sparkly "Midnights" look

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

This version of the T-shirt dress is slightly elevated, with multicolored gems scattered across the fabric.

31. The "Lavender Haze" look

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

The fuzzy coat that opens the "Midnights" segment is a reference to the "Lavender Haze" music video . This connection is most obvious when Swift wears the opalescent T-shirt dress underneath.

It kind of looks like Swift skinned a Muppet to make this coat, but don't worry: she confirmed in a behind-the-scenes clip  that she would never wear real fur.

30. The blue "Karma" jacket

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

Blue-on-blue is a logical combo for the closing number, if a little predictable.

29. The multicolored "Karma" jacket

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

The multicolored fringe is a little chaotic, but it's a fun way to spice things up for the final song of the evening.

28. The hot pink "Karma" jacket

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

The contrast between Swift's bright skin, dark-blue bodysuit, and hot-pink fringe is very compelling.

27. The classic "Evermore" dress

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

For the majority of the US leg, Swift only had one look for the "Evermore" segment: a mustard-yellow dress that screams cottagecore. It's cute but nothing particularly special, and it has grown a little dull over time.

26. The bronze "Evermore" dress

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

Swift has only worn this alternate "Evermore" dress a handful of times, but it made for a nice change of pace — and the deep, sparkling bronze compliments the moody, wintery vibe of songs like "'Tis the Damn Season," "Champagne Problems," and "Tolerate It."

25. The gold "Speak Now" ballgown

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

The "Speak Now" outfit is a callback to the Speak Now World Tour, when Swift wore sparkly gowns while singing "Enchanted." For The Eras Tour, Swift pumped up the drama with voluminous skirts and embroidered jewels.

The gold version is fine, but looks slightly cheaper than its counterparts — like an extravagant prom dress.

24. The silver "Speak Now" ballgown

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

Instead of muted gold, silver offers a lovely contrast with the purple visuals of "Speak Now."

23. The pink "Speak Now" ballgown

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

The baby-pink version of the "Enchanted" gown is almost the best, with its flattering neckline and strips of sparkles that resemble falling rain.

22. The purple "Lover" bodysuit with tassels

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

The deep purple hue made for an exciting change when Swift debuted this look in East Rutherford, New Jersey — but the tassels throw off the whole effect. They make the bodysuit look cheaper than it is.

21. "1989" in orange

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

The orange set is nice, but it's the weakest link of the "1989" colors (and signals that she'll wear the yellow surprise-song dress).

Maybe it's a subtle Easter egg for "Karma," the rumored album that Swift scrapped in between "1989" and "Reputation." (In the music video for "The Man," the word is graffitied on the wall in orange paint.)

20. "1989" in green

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

The green is prettier than orange, but not as pretty as pink.

19. "1989" in pink

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

Although hot pink isn't quite right for the overall vibe of "1989," it does pair well with the girlish charm of "Blank Space" and the fiery passion of "Bad Blood."

18. "1989" in blue

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

After 26 concerts, we finally got to see Swift perform songs from "1989" wearing the album's distinctive color. This glittering blue set recalls the New York City skyline that inspired Swift's iconic pop songs.

17. The newest "Midnights" bodysuit

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

The latest edition of the "Midnights" bodysuit is likely designed to resemble an outfit that Swift wore during the 1989 World Tour.

It's one of her most daring looks yet , but the sheer cutouts in the abdomen look a little misplaced.

16. The blue-and-yellow "Lover" bodysuit

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

The "Lover" bodysuit is always gorgeous, but there's something slightly off about the blue-and-yellow color combination. The tones are too muted to complement the show's opening visuals.

15. "The Man" blazer in silver

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

Swift typically slips on a silver blazer over her "Lover" bodysuit to perform "The Man" and "You Need to Calm Down." With the matching red-bottomed boots, it's a powerful combination.

14. "The Man" blazer in black

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

We love the silver blazer, but the black blazer is extremely hot.

13. "Folklore" in blue

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

The sheer, baby-blue cape sleeves are very pretty, but the color isn't the right fit for "Folklore," which is not a blue-sounding album in the slightest.

12. "Folklore" in purple

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

"Folklore" isn't a purple-sounding album either, but this dress does look like something a young widow might wear in a Jane Austen film adaptation, so it works.

11. "Folklore" in cream

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

Cream is a fitting color for "Folklore," an album that evokes earthy and neutral tones.

10. "Folklore" with lace

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

This is only slightly different from "Folklore" in cream, but the lace adds a new edge — romantic and old-timey, well-suited for the "pioneer woman in a forbidden love affair" that Swift imagined while she was writing these songs.

9. The blue "Speak Now" ballgown

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

Although blue is not the traditional "Speak Now" color, everything about this dress is truly stunning, from the floral details to the elegant train.

8. The original "Midnights" bodysuit

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

The navy bodysuit is an Eras Tour classic, dark and sparkling like midnight rain. It's an almost-perfect choice to close the show.

7. "Folklore" in green

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

Out of all the flowy "Folklore" gowns, green is the best fit for "Folklore." It makes Swift look like a woodland fairy.

6. The original "Fearless" dress

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

Swift's flapper-inspired dress is ideal for performing classics like "You Belong With Me" and "Love Story." The fringe is fun and youthful, just like the original "Fearless" era, but paired with knee-high boots, it's still chic and modern.

5. The only "Reputation" outfit

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The one-legged "Reputation" jumpsuit is bold and sexy with a hint of danger, just like the album itself .

4. The scalloped "Midnights" bodysuit

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

There is something especially ethereal about this version of the classic "Midnights" bodysuit. The blue has a slightly warmer, richer tone — a better match for Swift's ocean eyes and pinkish undertones than navy — and the scalloped detailing on the bodice is exquisite up close.

3. "The Man" blazer in pink

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

Swift looks like a Barbie come to life in this version of the blazer, which she debuted on stage in Argentina. It also gives her performance of "The Man" a flirty, feminine edge.

2. The "Lover" bodysuit in pink

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

Swift also debuted this pink version of her opening look in Argentina. The gorgeous combination of shades, from baby pink to strawberry and fuchsia, compliments the tone of songs like "Cruel Summer" and "Lover."

1. The original "Lover" bodysuit

taylor swift 1989 blue dress eras tour

This was the first outfit Swift wore when she arrived on the Eras Tour stage back in March, and to this day, it remains the best.

The blue, purple, and pink gems create the perfect color combo, especially suited for the warmth and whimsy of the "Lover" era.

Here are Taylor Swift fans' best Eras Tour outfits, from bejeweled boots to mirrorballs

  • Many fans' "Midnights" style is inspired by "Lavender Haze" and "Bejeweled."
  • "Mirrorball" is a popular look for fans of "Folklore."
  • Those who feel robbed of a "Lover" era are gravitating toward the album's signature pastel colors and rainbow motifs.
  • One of the more popular Eras Tour outfits on social media seems to be Swift's purple sweetheart neckline dress from her Speak Now Tour.

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour kicks off March 17 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale and Swifties are ready for her first tour in nearly five years.

The pent-up demand to see her perform live is palpable after Swift added four new albums and two "Taylor's Version" re-records to her discography since her 2018 Reputation Tour. Because the Eras Tour promises to span her entire music catalog, fans have almost unlimited options for how to style themselves in celebration of the occasion.

If social media is anything to go by, the 52 Eras Tour shows will be a chaotic potpourri of cowboy boots, sparkles, leather and neon, which represent various albums, tours, music videos and inside jokes among Swifties over the past 17 years.

If you're struggling to decide on an era, let alone an outfit, here's how some creative fans are planning to dress up for Swift’s U.S. shows in 2023.

Ultimate Eras Tour fan guide: Parking, bag policy and what to know about traffic

How fans are paying homage to various Taylor Swift eras

@pnwfitswiftie, aka Kimberly and Sawyer, predict that crowds at Eras Tour concerts will be chaotic. They posted a TikTok video in which they wear outfits reminiscent of eras past and present as “POV you’re Taylor Swift looking out into the crowd at the Eras Tour” is superimposed over the footage. The caption reads, “Cannot wait for the Swiftie chaos at the Eras Tour.”

Many fans appear to be designing their own apparel that represents all of Swift’s eras, including on denim jackets. Here are some other unique ways people have combined various themes.

“Bejeweled” meets “Lover”: Foreverandfashion shared a “‘Bejeweled’ meets ‘Lover’” look for one of the Houston concerts on Tumblr. It comprises rhinestones, holographic shorts, a tie dye rainbow fringe jacket similar to one Swift wore during an iHeartRadio Wango Tango performance in 2019 and bedazzled heeled boots.

DIY Eras cape: @sunflowerrswift is traveling from Sydney, Australia, to attend both Arizona shows and hand-painted a cape with 10 different sections, with each representing the imagery from an album.

DIY Eras jeweled bustier: Sarah, aka @spookybaseball on TikTok, has been sharing progress on a custom-made bustier top that is striped with hand-glued jewels grouped into colors that represent each album.

"Folklore," "Reputation," "Red" and "1989" patchwork outfit: @HollyMar13 shared a DIY outfit for the first show of The Eras Tour that incorporates at least four eras on Twitter and TikTok . The patchwork project, which appears to be split down the middle, includes half of a cardigan and the "rep" velvet long-sleeve bodysuit (from the "Look What You Made Me Do" music video) on top, split black and white hot pants on the bottom (the black is reminiscent of the Red Tour and the white portion is similar to a 1989 Tour look), thigh-high boots and a sparkly Red Tour ringmaster cape. Swift herself seemed to cosign the outfit by liking it on TikTok.

For subscribers: Why Taylor Swift launching her tour at State Farm Stadium is a big deal for Glendale, AZ

Fans who want to represent Swift’s latest album are largely taking inspiration from the songs “Lavender Haze” and “Bejeweled” as well as the glittery, shimmery outfits she has worn to several recent events.

DIY “Midnights” cardigan: TikToker @_chricket crocheted a “Midnights” cardigan with the album cover on the back and plans to wear it to an Atlanta show.

“Bejeweled”: @devenanthony debuted a “Bejeweled” outfit on TikTok for the March 17 Glendale show that includes a colorful rhinestone-studded vest that features “Nice!” written on the back as an ode to the song’s lyrics.

DIY stars: @Skye_Caylen0614 tweeted photos of a DIY dress made out of more than 550 paper stars that are shipped with merchandise purchased from Swift’s official online store. Coincidentally, it is also reminiscent of the star-embellished blue Moschino romper that Swift wore to a Video Music Awards afterparty in August 2022; the style looks similar to the fringe mini dresses that Swift has worn on stage during various tours, too.

2022 VMAs afterparty romper: Speaking of the Moschino romper, TikToker @danigolub crafted this look herself with glittery stars and rhinestones, paired with a faux fur jacket.

“Midnight Rain”: Look out for some “Midnight Rain” in Glendale as @supposed2befun has a costume inspired by the sixth track off “Midnights.” In photos posted to Twitter , Shaunna is donning a fluffy cloud skirt with dangling crystals depicting rain, which is paired with tops that look like dark clouds and a raincloud hat.

2022 VMAs Oscar de la Renta dress: @knottaylorswift has done what she called "amateur cosplay" on TikTok and crafted Swift's designer nude-colored dress that was dripping in crystals at last year's Video Music Awards.

Glendale (Taylor's Version): City temporarily changes name to honor Taylor Swift's Eras Tour launch

‘Red (Taylor’s Version)’ era outfits

One particular vault track from Swift’s 2021 album “Red (Taylor’s Version)” seems to have inspired several fans.

“I Bet You Think About Me”: @kindahannah8 made a defiled red velvet wedding cake cowboy hat in an ode to the “I Bet You Think About Me” music video and paired it with a sparkly red dress, as shown in her TikTok video . Twitter user @itsdelicateee13 also took inspiration from the video and created an outfit with red lace gloves, a flower crown of roses and a red dress for the second Glendale show.

“All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)”: In an ode to fan-favorite ballad “All Too Well,” whose 10-minute version was finally released during this era, @katietufts made a “crumbled up piece of paper” outfit and shared it on TikTok .

‘Folklore’ and ‘Evermore’ era outfits

Though some Swifties fear their idol will eschew these sister albums that were born out of the pandemic in favor of her stadium-friendly pop hits, they seem passionate about not allowing these alternative cottagecore-inspired albums to be forgotten.

“Mirrorball”: @ajpeck5 has finished attaching reflective silver squares on a disco ball-inspired cowboy hat, which is a nod to Track 6 off “Folklore,” “Mirrorball.” @fairyytaleswift is also going for the “Mirrorball” look with head-to-toe reflective silver, according to photos posted on Twitter . Joey (@theswift911) also has a disco ball look — and as a bonus it’s identical to the outfit that Swift wore to the 2018 American Music Awards. (Side note: If anyone also braved the ticket sale for Beyoncé’s Renaissance tour and has tickets to one of those shows, this hat can be repurposed in an ode to Beyoncé’s outfit in the tour poster .)

“Cardigan” and “Willow”: Sisters Elaine ( @replover4eva ) and Kelly ( @xmastreefarm13 ) revealed three different complementary looks for their State Farm Stadium shows, including one that pays homage to “Folklore” and “Evermore.” Their outfits incorporate Swift’s “Folklore” merchandise cardigan with an ivory dress as well as a green velvet cape paired with a medieval-inspired dress, which look like what she wore in her “Cardigan” and “Willow” music videos, respectively.

“Cowboy Like Me”: Krista, aka @nsttnsttnstt on Twitter, has fashioned a glittery veiled cowboy hat to wear at State Farm Stadium. It’s decorated with the words “forever” and “is the sweetest con” in a nod to the “Evermore” song “Cowboy Like Me.”

Taylor Swift ‘Lover’ era outfits

Fans who had tickets to Swift’s Lover Fest, which was supposed to take place in 2020 and was never rescheduled amid the pandemic, might be feeling robbed of the full “Lover” experience. As such, many people are gravitating toward fashion that reflects the her seventh studio album's color palette and the outfits she wore while promoting it.

“Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince”: @hallelikehalleberry is DIY-ing a “Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince” couple’s outfit, including a sparkly jacket with broken hearts and a “Lover” patch. Twitter user @AriReadyForIt has another unique take on “Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince” that involves an American flag cheerleader outfit and a sash with the lyrics “most likely to run away with you.”

“Me!”: @emilyyy630 recreated one of Swift’s outfits — a pink ‘70s go-go dancer-inspired dress with a heart across the torso — from the “Me!” music video in a TikTok. This is one of the more popular looks, as Twitter users @mo0nandsaturn and @theruthlessgame also shared that they will also wear this at State Farm Stadium.

Pink and blue: @devenanthony revealed a “Lover”-inspired outfit on TikTok. It involves hot pink cargo pants and a short-sleeve button-down with the album’s signature pink and baby blue clouds as well as the album title on the back of the shirt and on a pair of tennis shoes.

“Cruel Summer”: @longggglive has a head-to-toe blue group outfit complete with blue heart sunglasses, bodysuits and tutus planned for the State Farm Stadium shows, according to a Twitter post . This is in homage to “Cruel Summer,” in which Swift sings, “it's new, the shape of your body / It's blue, the feeling I've got.”

The house from the “Lover” music video: In an impressive feat, Madi — aka @bettysporchlght — created the three-story house in the “Lover” music video that depicts each album as a different room. The accessory, which is made out of foam, is attached with straps and covers Madi’s entire torso.

‘Reputation’ era outfits

Swifties who are nostalgic for her last tour are ready to don dark colors, snake motifs and bodysuits once again in honor of the 2017 “Reputation” album.

“Reputation” meets “Lover”: @danibeedabbles is combining “Reputation” and “Lover” — “my favorite two albums” — to put together an outfit that incorporates the snake motif and rainbow tie dye. It comprises a snake-print mesh bolero jacket and holographic colorful snakeskin-print bodysuit.

“Look What You Made Me Do” music video: Meanwhile, Twitter user @cowboylikeme_tv plans to roll up to the first Eras Tour show in Glendale in a black outfit that’s inspired by the “Look What You Made Me Do” music video , in which Swift wears a bodysuit with a glittery “rep” emblazoned across the chest. Several others, including @ashlyn.poly and @midnjghts , have opted for this look at well.

“Delicate” music video: @13folkloreTS, aka Kirsty, will also represent “Reputation” while wearing a “Delicate” music video-inspired blue fringe dress at State Farm Stadium, according to a tweet .

‘1989’ era outfits

Taylor Swift’s official transition into her pop era in 2014 came with a new generation of glittery outfits during her 2015 world tour and some iconic costumes from her music videos, including “Shake It Off,” “Bad Blood” and “Blank Space.”

The 1989 Tour silver bodysuit: Paige, aka @swiftie_paige13, made an Eras Tour denim jacket to wear over a bejeweled outfit inspired by one of Swift’s dazzling silver bodysuits from the 1989 Tour, according to a Twitter post .

“Shake It Off” cheerleader: @AllTooDrew13 shared plans on Twitter to “have the best day shaking it off with Taylor and my baby girl” — who is in a cheerleading outfit from the “Shake It Off” music video — at State Farm Stadium.

Pink light-up dress: Some Swifties, like @madisonsatterlee1, have recreated the pink two-piece outfit with lights that Swift wore during the 1989 tour, though a number of fans have chimed in that stadiums might prevent ticketholders from entering the venue with the lights. ( This is the case for State Farm Stadium. )

‘Red’ era outfits

The release of Taylor’s Version in 2021 has some people nostalgic for Swift’s “Red” promotional era a decade ago and its circus theme, fedoras, animal onesies, high-waisted shorts and graphic tees.

Ringmaster costume: Twitter user @rachisfearless harkened back to the 2013-2014 Red Tour with her circus ringmaster costume, which she plans to wear to one of the Arlington, Texas, shows.

‘Speak Now’ era outfits

Swift has dropped numerous hints, including in the music video for “Bejeweled,” that “Speak Now” will get the Taylor’s Version re-release treatment next. In anticipation of this, some fans are looking back at her tour outfits from 2011-2012.

Purple sweetheart dress: As shown in a TikTok video, @kirst_ec was able to find a sweetheart neckline lilac dress that is nearly identical to the one Swift wore while touring her 2010 album, “Speak Now.” Over on Twitter , @FolkloreSwift89 also alluded to wearing this to a Tampa, Florida, show.

Gold fringe dress: As a “‘Speak Now’ stan, TikTok user @trinytiblair bought a gold fringe dress that looks just like the one that Swift wore during that tour.

‘Fearless’ era outfits

The first of Swift’s albums to be re-recorded as a Taylor’s Version (released in April 2021), "Fearless" (2008), has some enduring hit singles such as “Love Story” and “You Belong With Me.” This was the first album that she toured, and her enduring sparkly and glittery aesthetic was cemented in 2009-2010.

Junior jewels T-shirt: Tumblr user lanterns-lit shared an early look at their outfit for one of the Chicago shows, which incorporates a version of Swift’s iconic “junior jewels” shirt from the “You Belong With Me” music video. The white T-shirt is stylized the same way but has song lyrics, album titles and symbols from Swift’s various eras.

Their outfit will also involve Swift-related jewelry and patches.

‘Taylor Swift’ (debut album) era outfits

Fans on social media seem to unanimously agree that recreating Swift’s mid-2000s "Taylor Swift" album era style involves cowboy boots, flowy dresses and anything, really, that evokes country.

@itshaley.y showed off a light-colored sundress with flower embroidery and cowgirl boots that “literally screams debut” on TikTok .

Why Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’ Is Directly Connected to the Color Blue

The detective work never stops for swifties, and the next case fans are on is why 1989 is blue after Taylor Swift wore five new blue dresses on the night she announced her next album, 1989 (Taylor’s Version) .

Swift concluded her caption with none other than two light blue heart emojis. During the Eras Tour show where she announced 1989 (Taylor’s Version) , Swift also wore several new blue dresses, including at the exact moment she unveiled the album. “I want to add this goes back to my tweet about five dresses that are blue hence fifth album aka 1989 and yep this all happened I can sleep happy,” one user tweeted after the concert. Another user wrote, “i literally 100% didn’t believe in any of your theories and then the taylor swift comes out in blue dresses on 8/9.” One more user tweeted, “NO WAY WE ARE CLOWNING RIGHT??? SWIFTIES THE NEW BLUE DRESSES ON ERAS TOUR SURELY TAYLOR SWIFT IS NOT THIS EVIL.”

It’s clear that if 1989 had a color, it would be be blue. But why is 1989 blue ? Well, as all things Taylor Swift-related, the answer is complicated.

Taylor Swift - The Eras Tour

Why is 1989 blue?

What’s undecided in the thread are Swift’s debut album, Taylor Swift , and her fifth album, 1989 . Her 10th album, Midnights , was also missing because it hadn’t been released yet at the time the thread was posted, though one can argue that Midnights ‘ color is dark blue. The thread also argues that Taylor Swift is green, though it didn’t have a distinct era because it was Swift’s first album.

“The inspiration behind this record, I was listening to a lot of late 80’s pop … I really loved the chances they were taking, how bold it was,” Swift said of the inspiration behind 1989 in an interview with ABC News in 2014. “It was apparently a time of limitless potential, the idea you could do what you want be what you want … the idea of endless possibility was kind of a theme in the last two years of my life.” She added later in the interview, “For the record this is my very first documented pop album.”

All in all, there are so many reasons one could say 1989 is blue. The discussion only begs the question, what color will Swift’s next album be? Orange? Green? Gray? The theories are endless.

Taylor Swift has some incredible Eras Tour outfits

Who designs Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour outfits?

Taylor has been bringing out the big guns for her global tour. Notable designers include Fausto Puglisi who heads up Italian fashion house Roberto Cavalli. Fausto describes himself  as a Sicilian maverick. He designed 12 of the looks from Taylor’s Eras shows, including the skintight snake catsuit from the Reputation era, and the gold-fringed minidress from her Fearless era.

And Taylor isn’t the only superstar he has dressed – J-Lo and Zendaya have also had the honour. He also designed the cape that Madonna wore on her Madame X album.

Another designer that has been tapped by Taylor for her stage costumes is Donatella Versace. The legendary designer was the mastermind behind Taylor’s bejewelled bodysuits that feature in the Lover section of her shows.

And rounding off the Lover looks are a pair of custom-made, jewel-encrusted, knee-high boots from none other than Christian Louboutin. With their signature red soles, Louboutins are the footwear of choice for the rich, famous and impeccably dressed.

Italian dressmaker Alberta Ferretti also has a starring role on the Eras Tour. Her ethereal and dreamy gowns complements the Folklore section of Taylor’s shows completely.

Taylor has also selected a number of lesser-known names to wear alongside fashion powerhouses like Oscar de la Renta and Ellie Saab. Indie designer Anish Gupta created the sequin slogan T-shirts emblazoned with her iconic lyrics “WE ARE NEVER EVER GETTING BACK TOGETHER, LIKE EVER”

And with that impressive list of designers, we couldn't resist the urge to round up all the Eras Tour stage ensembles she's worn so far, check out all the Taylor tour looks (as well as her newest additions)...

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour Rehearsal Outfits Include All the Activewear I Want

She's preparing to hit the stage in under-$100 gems from Nike and Free People.

On the promo circuit, Taylor Swift is deep in her gothic Tortured Poets Department fashion era. Behind the scenes, she's practicing for the next leg of her Eras Tour in the down-to-earth activewear my workout routine is missing.

Swift shared a YouTube short filled with clips from rehearsals for the next leg of her record-shattering tour on Thursday, April 25. In addition to glimpses at updated choreography and, potentially, new songs on the setlist, Swift showed a workout wardrobe packed with under-$100 finds. One clip shows her practicing in Nike sneakers and Free People joggers; in another, she twirls through her routine in a PopFlex skort set that's gone viral.

While I'm not on a grueling workout schedule like the world's biggest pop star, I can imagine these pieces becoming personal heroes for runs, walks, and yoga sessions. Ahead, I've broken down three outfits featured in the snippet of Swift's Eras Tour practice sessions. Leave the sleuthing for setlist updates to the other fans. Here, there are just IDs on activewear with thousands of five-star reviews (including Swift's, apparently).

Any Swiftie can tell you that their fearless leader loves Free People: She's consistently worn FP T-shirts, dresses, and sweaters in her street style over the years, including on trips to the studio to record The Tortured Poets Department . Now, we know she also prepares for the stage in her FP gear. One of the first clips in her rehearsal outfit montage show Swift in a casual pair of Free People joggers, layered with a tank top and a supportive sports bra. On her feet, she swaps her onstage custom Louboutins for a pair of Nike sneakers .

For those of us who aren't practicing for a three-and-a-half-hour performance, it's exactly the sort of low-key look that can work for yoga, breathwork, or a long walk. Forme's high-performance bra is also a cult-favorite, with more than 1,700 five-star reviews praising its failsafe support and comfortable-yet-strong fabric.

Taylor Swift lets her affinity for accessible brands shine during rehearsals, wearing Free People joggers and Nike sneakers.

In her first round of promo for "Fortnight," The Tortured Poets Department 's lead single, Swift shared a clip playing pickleball and wearing PopFlex's flouncy Pirouette skort . She brought the piece back with a matching, corseted sports bra for rehearsals in Thursday's video. The skort combines a coquette tiered skirt with flexible, breathable undershorts—and Swift's stamp of approval has caused orders to spike 600 percent, according to a rep for the brand. This is your sign to order your own set before they sell out.

For a segment of rehearsal that appeared to reference The Tortured Poets Department , Swift practiced in a PopFlex sports bra and coordinating skort.

For segments of rehearsal that appear to feature new choreography (fans haven't seen those canes and hats before!), Swift dresses in a crewneck sweatshirt of unknown provenance and a black skort. The second piece is once again from PopFlex, proving that even newly-minted billionaires appreciate an under-$100 find.

Swift also let her inner sneakerhead out with this last rehearsal outfit. She's wearing the Ganni x New Balance 1906R sneaker, a collaboration that debuted on the Copenhagen Fashion Week runway for the Spring 2024 season and quickly sold out. (Select sizes are still in stock at Farfetch.)

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

Fans theorize that Taylor Swift is changing her Eras Tour setlist to include songs from her new album, “The Tortured Poets Department.”

Swift shared a black-and-white video collage of her practicing for the upcoming leg of her tour and added her new single, “Fortnight,” in the background to YouTube Shorts on Thursday.

The Grammy winner, 34, included several snippets of her wearing different athleisure outfits while holding a microphone, singing and dancing on different parts of the stage.

The “Cruel Summer” songstress even featured a snap of her playing her acoustic guitar and sitting at her signature mossy piano.

However, some eagle-eyed fans noticed a few differences in some of the clips from what she’s done in her past shows –– such as her background dancers wearing black top hats and canes.

Swift also appeared to be leaning on a silver pole that seemed to have a white “TTPD” sign hanging on the side of it. Fans additionally pointed out her white guitar and matching microphone.

Swift has not released the setlist for her upcoming shows and she did not share the setlist before she kicked off the tour in Arizona in March 2023.

The “Shake it Off” songstress previously sang 44 songs on every show and swapped out two songs each concert that were acoustic “surprise songs” not included in the same setlist.

After Paris, Swift will hit several European countries, including Sweden, Spain and Portugal, before wrapping up in London in August.

Swifties Trying to Rewrite History and Make Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’ About Matty Healy May Have Lost the Plot

Swifties Who Are Trying to Rewrite History to Make Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’ About Matty Healy May Have Lost the Plot

Following the release of The Tortured Poets Department , some Taylor Swift fans are speculating that her sixth studio album, 1989, may actually be about Matty Healy   — and we’re afraid they may have lost the plot entirely.

Beloved Swifties, we appreciate your prowess, but 1989 has and always will be dedicated to Mr. Harry Styles (allegedly). Although it’s understandable that TTPD has caused many to reevaluate some of Swift’s more recent work, including 2022’s Midnights , rewriting history to make a record so specific to Styles about someone else simply doesn’t make a ton of sense.

Before we dive into the reasons it’s a no, here are the three things fans are attempting to harp on when it comes to 1989 . Many believe lyrics in “Style,” particularly “You’ve got that long hair slicked back / White T-shirt” apply to Healy’s 2014 performance vibe, while others think Swift’s silhouette being featured in both the “Style” and “Fortnight” — a TTPD song rumored to be about Healy — music videos is a deliberate parallel. On a bigger scale, some Swifties think because 1989 is about a delicate, on-and-off relationship — described in “OOTW,” “I Wish You Would” and “All You Had to Do Was Stay,” for example — it must trace back to Healy, since the Swift and The 1975 frontman met the same year the record was released.

Back to why this is wrong. Starting with the most obvious of evidence, Swift and Healy didn’t even meet until one month after 1989 was released. The twosome first crossed paths in November 2014 when Swift attended a The 1975 show alongside pals Ellie Goulding and Selena Gomez . Healy later opened up about being introduced to the pop star while on the Australian radio program Shazam Top 20, where he admitted the duo exchanged numbers.

Taylor Swift's Relationships With Her Exes Where Do They Stand Now

Related: Where Does Taylor Swift Stand With Her Exes Now? A Full Breakdown

If how time works isn’t enough proof, there’s always the fact that one of Swift’s singles on the album is literally titled Style, using wordplay to compare the duo’s on-and-off romance, which lasted from 2012 to 2014, to clothing and fashion that “never goes out of style.”

Although Swift never actually names names in her songs — except she kind of does in this one, right? — she also didn’t try to hide her inspiration for “Style”  when discussing it in a 2014 interview with Rolling Stone , telling the outlet, “We should have just called [the song], ‘I’m Not Even Sorry.'”

Styles, for his part, wrote “Two Ghosts” in 2017, which many believe is a response to Swift’s track. “Same lips red / Same eyes blue / Same white shirt / Couple more tattoos,” he sings in the first verse, likely in response to Swift’s “I got that red lip classic thing that you like” and “You got that long hair, slicked back, white T-shirt” lyrics.

Swifties Who Are Trying to Rewrite History to Make Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’ About Matty Healy May Have Lost the Plot

“Out of the Woods” is another 1989 track that clearly belongs to Styles, as it references his and Swift’s infamous snowmobile accident that resulted in both of them going to the hospital, with Styles getting “20 stitches.”

Though she didn’t name Styles at the time, Swift later confirmed to Rolling Stone that the song was about the crash, telling the outlet she wasn’t hurt in the incident before correcting herself, saying, ”Not as hurt.’” When asked why nobody has ever leaked information about the accident, she added: ”You know what I’ve found works even better than an NDA? Looking someone in the eye and saying, ‘Please don’t tell anyone about this.'”

When the music video for “OOTW” dropped in 2015, Swift was featured lost in a snowy woods in a blue dress. The garment was a callback to her and Styles’ breakup in January 2013, when they called it quits while vacationing in the Virgin Islands following a “heated argument.” Swift reportedly cut her trip short and headed home to Nashville to begin rehearsing for her Red tour and was photographed leaving the resort on a boat while donning a blue dress.

Swift can also be seen wearing the necklace of a paper airplane gifted to her by Styles in both the “OOTW” and “Style” videos. The jewelry is referenced in the “OOTW” lyric, “Two paper airplanes flying.”

Swift and Styles’ beachside breakup also came back into play for Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) , which she released in October 2023 with a series of bonus Vault Tracks. In “ Is It Over Now? ” Swift calls back to multiple other 1989 songs, singing, “Blue Dress / On a boat.” The snowmobile accident also ties in, with the lyrics, “Red blood / White snow.”

“Now That We Don’t Talk,” another track off 1989 (Taylor’s Version) , also seems to Styles hanging out on boats with his One Direction bandmates following their breakup with the line, “Now I don’t have to pretend I like acid rock / Or that I like to be on a mega yacht / With important men who think important thoughts.”

“Slut!,” meanwhile, touches on the idea of being judged for a public romance as a woman while the man skates by. Swift and Styles were infamously photographed together everywhere they went, with Swift taking a lot of heat from One Direction fans.

“Send the code, he’s waiting there / The sticks and stones they throw froze mid-air,” she sings in the second verse. “Everyone wants him, that was my crime / The wrong place at the right time.”

Swifties Who Are Trying to Rewrite History to Make Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’ About Matty Healy May Have Lost the Plot

If Healy was an on-and-off love for Swift since 2014, they certainly kept it under wraps, but Swift has all but confirmed that was the case when it came to Styles. During an interview on The Morning Show i n December 2014, Swift confessed that much of 1989 , but “Style” in particular, is about a romance you can’t seem to get over. (While there could be something to Swift having similar feelings about Healy since they rekindled things in 2023, she’d have to have a look into the future to be speaking about Healy then.)

“‘Style’ is actually about those relationships that are never really done ,” she explained. “You always kind of have that one person who you feel like might interrupt your wedding and be like, ‘Don’t do it, we’re not over yet.’ I think everybody has that one person who kind of floats in and out of their life and the narrative is never truly over.”

Swift has touched on this concept with her other records, most notably Folklore’s “The 1” and Midnights’ “Question,” which directly samples from “OOTW.” While Swift did perform “Question” while dating Healy at her May 2023 Eras Tour show, the song likely was originally penned with Styles in mind. Swift sings about a time when her ex saw her in a “crowded room” with “some meathead guy,” which could callback to Styles standing on stage at the 2017 Billboard Awards and seeing Swift kiss then-boyfriend Calvin Harris .

As for Styles himself, the musician has all but confirmed many of Swift’s 1989 tracks are about him. When asked his feelings on being the rumored subject of her music during a 2014 Google hangout , he said, “We always say that we write from personal experience, and I think everyone does. So, it would be hypocritical to say ‘Oh, you can’t write songs.’ And she’s really good, so, they’re good songs. I’m really lucky in that sense.”

During a Rolling Stone interview three years later, Styles expanded on his thoughts, but did note that he can’t be sure the songs are 100 percent about him.

“I’m lucky if everything [we went through] helped create those songs,” he said. “That’s what hits your heart. That’s the stuff that’s hardest to say, and it’s the stuff I talk least about. That’s the part that’s about the two people.”

Taylor Swift shares big video hint that the 'Eras Tour' may be changing

Taylor Swift is taking fans behind the scenes of her “Eras Tour” with a series of clips, and Swifties now suspect there’s a hint as to changes coming to the world-renowned show.

Days after releasing her newest album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” Swift posted another YouTube Short video with her hit single “Fortnight,” featuring Post Malone,” playing over videos of her and her dancers rehearsing for the tour. But there’s one moment in the montage that has fans doing what they do best: speculating.

Fans will recognize many of the scenes being practiced, such as Swift's iconic entrance from the ground, her performance of "Lavender Haze" in a coat surrounded by clouds, playing "Champagne Problems" seated at a moss-covered piano and more. But one clip, in which Swift stands in the middle of a stage with her dancers lined up behind her wearing top hats and holding canes, did not appear in the original "Eras Tour."

Taylor Swift YouTube Short

“Since when do background dancers have a top hat and canes?!” one fan with the username armaisacat.1989 captioned a TikTok of the scene, adding “Taylor Swift you have some explaining to do!!”

The “Eras Tour” is a three-hour, 15-minute concert in which Swift performs songs from all of her albums since her 2006 self-titled debut record. Many — including the TODAY.com staff — have speculated whether or not the pop star would integrate “Tortured Poets Department” as another era in the show.

All will be (hopefully) be revealed when the tour begins again in Paris on May 9.

This is the second YouTube Short Swift has posted since the latest album release. On April 19, she shared glimpses of her personal life , again set to the tune of “Fortnight.”

In that compilation, her boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce, makes appearances with the star. The videos are in collaboration with YouTube, encouraging users to post their own “14 snippets” of their lives set to the same song.

Pickleball to Eras Tour prep: How Taylor Swift’s skorts helped Popflex go viral

Talk about a Swift sellout.

Following last Friday’s release of her new album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” Taylor Swift took to YouTube Shorts to share some rare behind-the-scenes footage from her personal life, including a several-second snippet of herself playing pickleball in a tutu-style lavender skirt.

Despite the clip’s brevity, it took mere moments for Taylor Swift Style blogger Sarah Chapelle to ID the singer’s activewear as the Popflex Pirouette Skort ($60) — and just 15 minutes for the style to sell out completely in Swift’s lilac shade. Before long, it was wiped out of stock in all 11 colors.

“I was in shock. Pure shock,” the activewear brand’s founder, Cassey Ho , tells Page Six Style. At the time Swift posted the video, Ho was at the hair salon with her phone on “Do Not Disturb” mode, so she missed the first handful of calls from her husband as he tried to alert her of the major moment.

“It finally went through because when you do that on iPhone, it counts as an emergency,” she says, quipping, “This was an emergency.”

In an effort to meet the overwhelming demand, Ho enabled preorders for the lavender skort on her Shopify site — “we never do this,” she says — and has since sold “about 7,000” of the Swift-approved style. Since they’ll all be made from scratch, the skorts will ship in August.

“I don’t want to rush through anything; I want to make sure everyone who’s ordering the skort gets the same quality that Taylor got,” she notes.

But this was no flash-in-the-pan stroke of fortune for Ho and her brand — Swift returned to YouTube Thursday to share a compilation of clips from her recent Eras Tour rehearsals, which happened to be peppered with Popflex pieces.

In one scene, she pairs her Pirouette Skort with the brand’s Corset Bra ($44); in another, she takes the streamlined Twirl Skort ($54) for a spin, while a third shows her striking a confident pose in the Crisscross Hourglass Booty Short ($45).

Ho confirms none of the merchandise was gifted to the superstar.

“I think she placed an order — I don’t know when,” she tells us. “And it seems like she must have bought a lot of things!”

The fitness entrepreneur and influencer, who’s also the founder of the popular YouTube channel Blogilates , describes her designs as “romantic, feminine, but also always solving a problem,” pointing to Popflex’s inclusive size range (XXS to 3X) and multiple available legging lengths as examples of the latter.

“We all know that Taylor loves princesses and castles and love stories. And so I think because of that, she’s really drawn to the femininity and the romantic-ness of it all.”

Scoring the Grammy winner’s stamp of approval is especially meaningful for Ho, who’s been a Swiftie since 2006.

In 2014, after posting a YouTube video spotlighting her favorite songs from Swift’s emotional “Red” album — “I was going through a lot at the time,” she says — the vlogger even scored an invite to one of her idol’s “secret sessions,” and was one of the first people to hear Swift’s then-unreleased “1989” record in the musician’s own LA home.

“ The Taylor Swift walks out with her red lips and her cropped hair and her crop top, and I’m physically shaking, and she walks over and says, ‘Cassey, I love your videos,'” Ho recalls. “I’m like, ‘What do you mean?!’ “

Years later, the pair’s lives have paralleled in other ways; while Swift was fighting for ownership of her master recordings , Ho was battling larger companies selling bootleg versions of her creations.

“When I designed the Pirouette Skort a few years ago, I remember telling my husband, ‘This is the one that’s going to be stolen by Shein .’ I just knew, because it’s so different,” she says.

Since then, Ho tells me she’s dealt with two separate instances of the fast-fashion giant knocking off her signature design and selling it for cheap; she recently applied for a design patent to protect her work.

“It took a whole year for me to get the patent, but it was weirdly awarded on my birthday,” she says, adding that she announced the milestone with a TikTok set to — what else? — Swift’s tune “Karma.”

Unfortunately, the patent hasn’t put the kibosh on all the copycats.

“Amazon and TikTok Shop make it really easy,” the designer says, telling us she’s flagged “a ton” of listings for lookalike skorts that include customer reviews and photos taken from her own website — including snaps of Ho herself.

“Every day is like Whac-A-Mole; we take one [listing] down, they start a new account and put it up again,” she adds. “Dupe culture — counterfeit culture — has gotten out of control.”

But considering most Swifties now swear to only listen to the musician’s rerecorded versions of her earlier albums, Ho is confident that those in search of Swift’s skort will add “Cassey’s Version” to their carts.

“Swifties want the real thing. They want the thing that Taylor’s wearing,” she says. “And I just hope that the skort makes everyone who gets it really happy.”

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are not hiding their love!

An eyewitness inside Patrick Mahomes '  15 and the Mahomies Foundation Gala on Saturday night tells ET that The Tortured Poets Department  singer and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, both 34, were packing on the PDA.

According to the eyewitness Taylor and Travis "walked in holding hands and were affectionate all night" while supporting Mahomes' charity initiative in Las Vegas, Nevada. The eventgoer adds that throughout the night, there was "lots of kissing and just overall happiness between them. The support is there for one another."

"The two seem to be in good spirits and definitely in love," said the eyewitness.

Another person in Vegas over the weekend shared that Taylor and Travis spent Friday evening with Patrick, 28, and Brittany Mahomes at Easy's Cocktail Lounge inside the ARIA Resort and Casino before hitting the green and partying it up on Saturday during the 15 and the Mahomies gala. There, the couples enjoyed a low-key double date, even jamming along to some of Taylor's own music inside the speakeasy-inspired venue.

"The pair kept a low profile as they held hands and danced to various hits, including a few of Taylor’s that were played inside. The two didn’t leave each other’s side, and were seen leaving with smiles on their faces," the source shared.

ET also spoke with gala attendee Meghan Dunham who was lucky enough to snap a pic with Taylor inside. She shared her firsthand interaction with the "Karma" singer and three-time Super Bowl champ, who she called "amazing humans."

"Travis is incredibly attentive and loving to Taylor! It's very sweet and nothing but love between the two of them," she shared, calling their relationship "genuine and authentic."

According to Meghan, Taylor was "an absolute gem" and more than happy to take a photo with her. She called the 14-time GRAMMY winner "gracious and sweet," noting, "She truly is a beautiful soul inside and out."

The insider updates come just hours after Mahomes, 28, posted a weekend recap to his Instagram and snuck in a quick shot of Taylor in a floor-length green gown, hand-in-hand with Travis , who was   dressed in a blue suit and white button-up shirt. The pair can be seen entering the venue looking ready to party and dressed to the nines.

"Great weekend in Las Vegas for the @15andMahomies Vegas Golf Classic," the Chiefs quarterback captioned the post.

Fans were quick to also point out another snippet in the video which showed Travis on the green during the golfing tournament and a blurry figure in the background of someone wearing a light blue dress. The eagle-eyed Swifties noticed that all signs point to the mystery person being Taylor, cheering on her man from the sidelines.

"Hate to be insane in this way but we do have proof of Taylor cheering on Travis at the golf course," one person wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

During the gala, Travis surprised audience members in a last-minute shakeup when he took the stage to adorably raffle off one more item and shout out Taylor who helped pull off one of the hottest ticket items on the docket.

"I was just talking to my significant other and we might have another auction item that wasn't on the docket," he said slyly. "Has anybody heard of the Eras Tour?"

For the charity, Taylor and Travis pulled together four tickets to a future concert -- either in Miami Gardens, Florida, New Orleans, Louisiana, or Indianapolis, Indiana.

According to the event's auctioneer, Harry Santa, the four tickets did more than their fair share of heavy lifting to support the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation -- an organization devoted to bettering the lives of children through health and wellness programs.

"It's not every night @taylorswift is in your audience,"  Santa wrote on Instagram . "Four tickets to The Eras Tour raised an incredible $80,000... It was a truly special night supporting @15andmahomies."

I Went to Opening Weekend of the Eras Tour — Here's What to Wear to Taylor Swift's Concert

Pick your era and run with it

Folklore and Evermore

On March 18, I buzzed with excitement in a crowd of nearly 70,000 fans eagerly counting down the seconds (literally — a giant clock ticked on screen) until Taylor Swift walked onstage for her second show of the wildly-anticipated Eras Tour . Three hours and 13 minutes later, I was basking in the blissful aftermath of an epic 44-song setlist from the music icon.

But before that, I thought long and hard about what to wear to a Taylor Swift concert I'd been daydreaming about for years. With four new albums and two re-recordings released since her last tour, the options were endless. Should I dress for her latest era, the glimmering, moody Midnights , wander back into the whimsical woods in honor of Folklore and Evermore , embrace the bubblegum pink wonderland of Lover , or pay tribute to Red (Taylor's Version) in loafers and, well, red?

The countless Taylor Swift concert outfit ideas might seem overwhelming, but after attending the first stop on the Eras Tour, I can tell you this: You'll see a little bit of everything (and a lot of sparkles.) Some Swifties threw it back to Fearless in cowboy boots , others wore heart-covered tulle dresses, and one dedicated fan even covered herself head-to-toe in ivy in honor of the Evermore track.

Below, channel whichever era you feel most passionate about with these 141 Taylor Swift concert outfit ideas. Pick your poison, era-style. And don't forget to nab a stadium-approved clear bag for as little as $17.

Swift's latest album, Midnights, evokes a '70s haze, if you will, with purple eyeshadow, tousled hair, and shag coats. For the final portion of her Eras Tour setlist, the "Anti-Hero" singer wore two outfits: a sparkly T-shirt dress topped with a lavender fur jacket that was dripping in crystals and a bejeweled dark purple fringe leotard, both worn with knee-high Christian Louboutin rhinestone boots.

While you might not go that extra (or designer), the color palette is an easy place to start. I opted for these lavender metallic wide-leg trousers and this sparkly ruched cowl neck tank top , both under $25 at Cider. Slip into the lavender haze with purple pants, disco-ball-esque tops, and furry jackets like this one that starts at $32 at Amazon, and stock up on friendship bracelets (à la "You're on Your Own, Kid") with a custom bracelet-making kit . You could also recreate Swift's glamorous birthday look that she wore in New York City with a sparkly little black dress .

Folklore and Evermore , released just four months apart in 2020, took us deep into the trees where moss grew on pianos and braided buns were a must. While Swift sang songs like "Marjorie" and "Champagne Problems" during the Eras Tour, she donned a dreamy mustard maxi dress with a tiered skirt, ruffled shoulders, and gold accents. For slow burns like "Cardigan" and "Invisible String," the 12-time Grammy winner laid on the roof of a cabin and twirled around in a billowy cream maxi .

To embrace the cottagecore vibes of Folklore and Evermore at the concert, simply wear the flowiest, breeziest dress that makes you want to spin in circles to "August," like this Evermore era lookalike that's on sale for $42 and this $40 corset dress with eyelet details.

With pop anthems like "Cruel Summer" and the album's titular swoony ballad, Lover is the Taylor Swift album fans have been waiting to hear live since 2019. This lovestruck era was all about pink, pastel tie-dye, and fringe jackets. During the second night of the Eras Tour, Swift made a splash in her opening outfit, a custom Atelier Versace bodysuit covered in blue and gold rhinestones and silver knee-high boots by Christian Louboutin. She coyly layered a matching rhinestone Versace blazer on top for her cheeky performance of "The Man."

If Lover is your era of choice, anything pink and pastel will do. Try this open-back mini dress or this pastel pink rhinestone denim jacket on for size. Or, copy Swift's stadium style with a blazer dress that makes you feel like the man.

Before there was the starry-eyed Taylor seeing life through rose-colored glasses, we had the all-black-clad, hooded, narrow-eyed snake, aka Reputation -era Taylor . Swift only wore one outfit to represent this edgy era during her concert, and it spoke for itself. The showstopping one-legged Roberto Cavalli catsuit featured red snakes slithering down her body and black sequins that resembled scales.

You can't go wrong wearing black to represent the Reputation era, and throw some snakeskin prints in for an extra oomph.

With 1989 , Taylor ditched her country roots and dove headfirst into pop music — and her "red-lipped, classic" style reflected that shift. Two-piece sets were Swift's jam during her New York City '80s synth-pop era, and she brought them back with a Kelly green beaded skirt and crop top when she performed fan-favorites like "Blank Space" and "Wildest Dreams" on the second night of the Eras Tour.

If 1989 is your crown jewel in Swift's discography, wear a two-piece set in any color, throw on a sequin bomber jacket à la the 1989 World Tour, or recreate one of the looks from the "Shake It Off" music video like the person next to me in Glendale, Arizona did. The full ballerina tutu was seriously impressive.

Back in 2012, the Taylor Swift who brought us classics like "I Knew You Were Trouble" and "22" loved oxfords, stripes, hats, and all things red. This might be the easiest era to recreate. Simply wear black shorts, leather loafers, a black fedora, or opt for a fun graphic T-shirt like this $15 one that reads “loving him was red,” which is a subtle nod to Swift’s football player beau, Travis Kelce. It might be trickier to find the floor-length red sequin coat she layered on top for her 10-minute performance of "All Too Well."

Swift only sang one song from her 2010 album Speak Now at the Eras Tour, but it left me wonderstruck nonetheless. Taylor looked like a real-life princess in a Zuhair Murad ball gown fitting for a castle while she sang "Enchanted." Your row neighbors probably wouldn't love having a giant skirt like that bumping into them throughout the show, so something simpler might be a good idea.

Swift's Speak Now era involved a lot of romantic purple sundresses, side braids, and the number 13 painted on the back of her hand. Channel this innocent time with fairytale-like dresses you'll actually wear all summer long.

Back on her first headlining tour, curly-haired, head-banging Taylor wore countless sequin fringe mini dresses — and she wore two similar but elevated versions 13 years later for the Eras Tour. As she strummed her bedazzled guitar and sang hits like "You Belong With Me" and "Love Story," Swift wore a Roberto Cavalli dress that featured an ombre gold and silver sequin fringe. This $80 dress is super similar.

If you're looking for comfy footwear to dance the night away during this three-hour show, consider cowboy boots. Not only are they classic teenage Taylor, but they've been making a comeback in recent years with celebrities like Kendall Jenner and Emily Ratajkowski , too. Add this pointed-toe pair to your shoe rack and wear it way more places than just the Eras tour.
