The Cure at Blossom Music Center

Known for their distinct blend of post-punk, new wave, and rock, matched with their iconic '80s style featuring Robert Smith's iconic hair and smudged lipstick, The Cure quickly became a global favorite for their breakout hit single "Boys Don't Cry". Following an induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019, the band took the world by surprise with a new headlining tour, seven years since their last.

Kicking off this May, the tour will mark the band's 45th year anniversary since its formation in 1978. Influenced by the punk-rock and new wave movement, the band found early waves of success touring around London nightclubs. With the release of their debut album "Three Imaginary Boys," in 1979, the band took some time to re-engineer their sound towards a gothic influence to their blend of pop, punk, and rock.

This led to the birth of "Seventeen Seconds" at the onset of the '80s. Since then, The Cure marked their signature gothic-infused tone and darker sounds that soon dominated the industry. To date, the band has 13 studio albums with over 40 singles which include their classic hits "Boys Don't Cry", "Lovesong", "The Lovecats", "Just Like Heaven", "In Between Days", and "Friday I'm in Love".

The Cure became a staple mainstream favorite across the '80s and early '90s with the release of their albums "Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me" and "Disintegration". The latter is highly regarded as the bands greatest masterpiece, exploring different themes with an atmospheric sound.

"The whole album was just me indulging myself. I had no idea it would be a big album," Smith told NME in 2019. "I just knew that I wanted to make an album that I liked".

Despite twists and turns over the last four decades, Rober Smith continued to keep the legendary band alive. The Cure's last studio record was 2008's "4:13 Dream" which featured its singles "The Only One", "Freakshow", "Sleep When I'm Dead", and "The Perfect Boy".

In 2019, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. "We've been going for so long that I think we've proved our point," Smith told Rolling Stone. "We don't have to prove it anymore. We're just doing it for the fun of it now."

Jet-set to launch their comeback tour, rumors of new music began to rise once again. With big surprises to watch out for, don't miss out on this chance to catch the legendary band, The Cure, bringing its music back to life across the country on the live stage. Book your tickets now!

The Cure Announces 2023 North American Tour

The Cure  has announced tour dates that will bring them to the U.S. for the first time since 2019.

The Lost World Tour will kick off on May 10 in New Orleans and continue through summer, coming to a close on July 1 in Miami. Along the way, the band will appear in major cities like Dallas, Seattle, Denver, Chicago and Toronto, plus perform two three-night runs in Los Angeles and New York City.

You can see a complete list of dates below.

Tickets will be available via Ticketmaster's verified fan sale program  beginning on March 15. In a statement, the Cure noted that "apart from a few Hollywood Bowl charity seats, there will be no 'platinum' or 'dynamically priced' tickets on this tour."

The alternative legends have been off the road since wrapping up a fall European tour last year. The run was their first since the pandemic and featured the debut of material from the band's long-delayed new album.

According to frontman Robert Smith, the Cure has recorded at least 20 songs for two prospective albums. In April 2022, he told  NME  that the first one is tentatively titled  Songs of a Lost World . It marks the band's first studio album since 2008.

Guitarist Reeves Gabrels previously told UCR that the Cure had amassed a wealth of recordings during the pandemic that could fill up to three albums. "We were overproductive," Gabrels said. "Which is great, except it means you really can't judge the songs until you get them close to finished. You kinda have to bring all that material up to the point where you can hear what they are."

Smith had hinted in a  2021 interview that the upcoming songs could be the end of new music by the band. “The new Cure stuff is very emotional,” he revealed to  The Sunday Times . “It’s 10 years of life distilled into a couple of hours of intense stuff. I can’t think we’ll ever do anything else.”

Though the band’s last studio album was 2008’s “4:13 Dream,” frontman Robert Smith has regularly teased a new body of work from the band throughout the past few years. Last year, the band reissued 1992’s “Wish,” and Smith most recently remixed Noel Gallagher’s “Pretty Boy” single.

Their website also says that tickets have been priced by the band to “benefit fans and our efforts to block scalpers and limit inflated resale prices”, supported by ticketing partners.

The Cure have not toured the US since 2016, but performed at Pasadena Daydream Festival and Austin City Limits in 2019.

Smith has repeatedly teased The Cure’s new record to NME  as a  dark, “merciless, relentless ” piece, inspired by  a period of great loss and in a similar spirit to their 1989 gothic art-rock album ‘Disintegration’.

Reviewing The Cure in London this December , NME described the show as “an unusual, but thrilling festive party”.

Elsewhere, Noel Gallagher released Robert Smith‘s remix of  High Flying Birds ‘ track ‘Pretty Boy’ this week, with The Cure frontman sharing that he was “surprised and delighted” when when the former Oasis singer-songwriter asked him to “remix this gorgeous song”.

The Cure Announce First North American Tour Since 2016 + Are Trying to Block Scalpers From Buying Tickets

It's official — goth rock/new wave legends The Cure will embark on a North American tour this year, their first continental run since 2016.

Dubbed the "Shows of a Lost World" tour, the 30-date jaunt will kick off on May 10 in New Orleans, trekking through several major markets in the U.S. and Canada with things wrapping up on June 1 in Miami.

Opening each night are The Twilight Sad, a post-punk/indie rock group from Scotland who have been on the road with The Cure on previous tours. It also happens to be the 20th anniversary since their formation, so perhaps a special set is in order as they also continue to promote their most recent album, 2019's  It Won/t Be Like This All the Time .

The Cure, meanwhile, are expected to release a new album this year, which will be their first studio effort since 2008's  4:13 Dream . Last year, fans were even treated to a couple of new songs live , which are presumably on the forthcoming  Songs of a Lost World album, the title which frontman Robert Smith confirmed earlier in 2022. He also forecasted a fall 2022 release, so fans have really been on edge waiting for this new record.

Per The Cure's website, tickets will be available on March 15 via Ticketmaster Verified Fan Sale, which requires registration to access . "We have priced tickets to benefit fans and our efforts to block scalpers and limited inflated resale prices are being supported by our ticketing partners," the band also confirmed.

The Cure announces 30-date “Shows of a Lost World” North American tour

The Cure this morning announced its first North American tour in seven years, with plans to bring its “Shows of a Lost World” trek to the U.S. and Canada for 30 dates beginning in May, with three nights apiece in New York City and Los Angeles.

The tour opens May 10 in New Orleans and runs through July 1 in Miami, with dates in between in Dallas, Seattle, Denver, Chicago, Cleveland, Montreal, Atlanta and more, plus three-night stands at the Hollywood Bowl and Madison Square Garden. The Twilight Sad, once again, will open all shows.

See full dates below.

Tickets will be available through a Ticketmaster Verified Fan Sale beginning Wednesday, March 15, and it will require pre-registration to access. Fans will be able to register for a maximum of five different shows, and registration closes at 10 a.m. Pacific Monday, March 13. Head over here for details and to register.

In an email to fans, bandleader Robert Smith — in his trademark all-caps — makes this promise:

THE CURE HAVE AGREED ALL TICKET PRICES, AND APART FROM A FEW HOLLYWOOD BOWL CHARITY SEATS, THERE WILL BE NO ‘PLATINUM’ OR ‘DYNAMICALLY PRICED’ TICKETS ON THIS TOUR

The Cure’s touring lineup had been stable for more than a decade, with Smith joined by his longest-serving bandmate, bassist Simon Gallup, as well as drummer Jason Cooper, keyboardist Roger O’Donnell and guitarist Reeves Gabrels. Smith surprised fans last fall by bringing back guitarist/keyboardist Perry Bamonte, who played in the band from 1990 to 2005.

Smith has been teasing the completion and release of The Cure’s 14th studio album Songs of a Lost World — the group’s first since 2008’s 4.13 Dream — for more than a year, at one point suggesting it would be released before the band embarked on a lengthy European tour last fall .

That didn’t happen, although the group performed a number of new songs live, including “Alone,” “Endsong,” “And Nothing is Forever,” “I Can Never Say Goodbye” and “A Fragile Thing.”

The Cure’s European tour last year marked the group’s first live shows since before the pandemic, when The Cure followed up its Pasadena Daydream festival in Southern California in September 2019 with appearances at the Austin City Limits Festival in Texas and a one-off stadium concert in Mexico City.

The band has not toured the U.S. since 2016.

Here are The Cure’s new dates:

The Twilight Sad Conect Festival 2022

Who Is Opening The Cure’s 2023 Tour?

Flisadam Pointer

Last year, The Cure’s frontman Robert Smith announced a new album was in the works. Although the rock band didn’t drop a project of original music, they did share a remastered version of their breakout album, Wish , to celebrate its 30th anniversary. Now, the group is heading out on their first North American tour since 2016 .

Kicking off in New Orleans in May, supporting them on tour is Scottish post-punk band The Twilight Sad . Consisting of vocalist James Graham, guitarist Andy MacFarlane, bassist Johnny Docherty, keyboardist Brendan Smith, and drummer Grant Hutchison, the group has successfully toured with The Cure in the past, as recently as 2016, for international dates.

While The Twilight Sad hasn’t reached peak popularity in the States, alternative music fans consider their 2014 album, It Won’t Be Like This All The Time , to be groundbreaking in the indie rock scene. The Twilight Sad and The Cure’s discography pair well with each other, making them ideal for touring companions.

All The Best New R&B Music From This Week

Kid Cudi, one of Joe Burrow's 'idols,' cancels Insano World Tour after breaking foot

We can now say that Joe Burrow and his favorite rapper have one thing in common.

They're both on the injured reserve.

Kid Cudi, an Ohio native and known to be one of the Bengals quarterback's "idols growing up," announced in an X post Wednesday that he is canceling his Insano Engage the Rage World Tour after breaking his foot at Coachella on Sunday.

Cudi said in the post that he has a "broken calcaneus" and that he'd soon be undergoing surgery. He added that "there's gonna be a long recovery time."

"We have to cancel the tour so I can focus on getting better to be out there in top shape to rage with you all," Cudi said. "There's just no way I can bounce back in time to give 100%. The injury is much more severe than I thought."

The nine-month tour featured over 40 concerts across North America and Europe. It was scheduled to kick off in Austin, Texas, June 28 and he was supposed to stop in Cincinnati on Aug. 2 for a show at the Heritage Bank Center, as well as in his hometown of Cleveland on July 31.

Cudi added in the post that anyone who bought tickets will get a full refund and new tour dates will be rescheduled as soon as possible.

The 40-year-old rapper, who was a special treat just for second-weekend fans at the coveted music festival in Indio, California, played to an overflowing Sahara tent crowd. However, late in his 40-minute set, he tried to jump down from the stage during his hit "Memories" and he severely injured his foot in the process.

He took an awkward tumble and immediately winced as he rolled to the ground. He was seen being escorted off by two men as he was not able to put weight on his leg.

He confirmed in a late-night social media post that he did in fact break his foot.

The Insano World Tour is named after Cudi's ninth studio album, "Insano," which was released in January and features 20 tracks.

Shad Powers of the Palm Springs Desert Sun contributed to the report.

There will be two tour packages available and fans can enjoy extended hours of the stadium being open and even book last minute tours if available:

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Nearly 200 years ago, Oberlin was an important stop on Underground Railroad, which helped enslaved persons escape to freedom.

Now, a day filled with social justice poetry — which confronts hard truths about injustice and hate — and visits to Oberlin’s historical sites will remember and celebrate that past.

Worthington Farmers Market, Columbus Food Adventures voted as the best in the country

Local produce at the farmers market in Worthington.

The Worthington Farmers Market is to open its summer season May 4 with a major honor to its credit. It has been voted by readers of USA TODAY as the nation's best farmers market.

They must be doing something right at the market that runs every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon along a stretch of High Street in Old Worthington. The Worthington Farmers Market topped outdoor markets that operate along the Intracoastal Waterway in West Palm Beach, Florida, and at an oceanfront park in Honolulu.

The West Palm Beach GreenMarket had been voted No. 1 in USA TODAY's 10 best reader polls for three straight years. This was the first year Worthington's market was nominated by a panel of travel writers and other experts.

More farmers markets: When do area farmers markets open? Here's a guide to where and when to go

The result of reader votes were announced today.

"Nearly 100 vendors from the Columbus area converge for the year-round Worthington Farmers Market that adapts to the seasons," USA TODAY wrote.

"In summer, May through October, farmers and producers of high-quality food and plants sell al fresco in the Old Worthington Historic District. The rest of the year, the market goes indoors at The Shops at Worthington Place."

The last indoor market takes place Saturday before it moves outdoors for summer.

Organizers say the Worthington Farmers Market, which began in 1987, should have its highest number of vendors ever this summer.

Columbus Food Adventures another favorite

Another favorite of Columbus foodies also was voted as the nation's best by USA TODAY readers. Columbus Food Adventures , which leads geography and cuisine-based food tours in Columbus and its suburbs, topped a list of nominees that included tours in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Seattle, New Orleans and Chicago.

Here's how Columbus Food Adventures was described by USA TODAY: "From neighborhood walking tours to by-van excursions and private tours, Columbus Food Adventures offers a full menu of ways to meet the area's rich culinary scene. Whether you're a meat-lover, brew-hound, taco fiend or gastronomic globe-trotter, there's a tour to fit your appetite."

Walking tours include the Short North, German Village, Grandview Avenue, Dublin and Old Worthington, while van tours hit local taco trucks or a variety of international restaurants.

Results of a third USA TODAY reader vote also were announced. Budd Dairy Food Hall , the Italian-Village collection of bars and restaurants in an old milk-bottling plant, finished at No. 3 in voting for the nation's best food hall.

Mother Road Market in Tulsa, Oklahoma, finished at the top in national voting, while the Garage Food Hall in Indianapolis finished second.

Budd Dairy was ranked sixth in a list of the best U.S. food halls posted by the global travel site Big 7 Travel .
