Tour de l’Île Des milliers de cyclistes dans les rues de Montréal

Plus de 17 000 cyclistes sont attendus à la 38 e  édition du Tour de l’Île.

Des milliers de cyclistes ont pris d’assaut les rues de la métropole dimanche matin à l’occasion de la 38 e  édition du Tour de l’Île de Montréal. De nombreuses entraves à la circulation sont à prévoir.

« C’est ma première fois au tour de l’île. Ça va être ma plus longue distance », s’exclame la jeune Frida Bishop Saldana, à quelques mètres de la ligne de départ. « Elle a un nouveau vélo, alors elle voulait l’essayer », renchérit son père à ses côtés, David Bishop.

Plus de 17 000 cyclistes sont attendus à l’évènement. « Pour plusieurs personnes, ça va être la première fois qu’ils vont rouler 47 km ou qu’ils vont rouler en ville. C’est un évènement vraiment festif et accessible pour tous les âges, de 8 à 88 ans », a déclaré à La Presse le président-directeur général de Vélo Québec, Jean-François Rheault. L’an dernier, le Tour de l’île avait attiré 19 000 participants.

Yves Orphanos complétera le trajet avec son petit-fils Jason, pour lui transmettre sa passion du vélo. Le résidant de Montréal parcourt une centaine de kilomètres chaque vendredi. Aujourd’hui, ce sera plutôt une balade familiale. « C’est sa première fois », dit M. Orphanos, en regardant le garçon souriant.

Le départ officiel du Tour de l’île de Montréal a été donné au parc Maisonneuve, à l’angle du boulevard Rosemont et de la 26 e  Avenue, à 9 h 15.

Dès 7 h, des participants ont entamé le parcours du Tour de l’île découverte incluant des circuits entre 50 et 100 km. Les cyclistes roulent toutefois à la file dans les rues ouvertes à la circulation automobile. « Ils sont accompagnés par des encadreurs et des instructeurs si jamais ils ont un pépin », a indiqué M. Rheault.

Entraves à prévoir

Mieux vaudra prévoir son itinéraire, dimanche. Plusieurs grands axes seront fermés à la circulation automobile, et ce, de 8 h 45 à 14 h 30.

Les participants s’élanceront dans les rues de sept arrondissements et villes, soit Rosemont – La Petite-Patrie, Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension, Ahuntsic-Cartierville, Montréal-Nord, Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles, Anjou et Saint-Léonard, avec des impacts à prévoir sur la circulation.

Le trajet de 47 km emprunté par les cyclistes compte, entre autres, l’avenue du Parc, la rue Jarry Ouest, les boulevards de l’Acadie, Gouin, Maurice-Duplessis, Henri-Bourrassa et Provencher, la 35 e  Avenue et la rue Viau.

Pour faciliter les déplacements, Vélo Québec invite la population à utiliser l’application Waze , qui offre des informations en temps réel sur l’état des parcours.

Tout au long du trajet, des bénévoles, des cadets et des policiers seront présents aux intersections des rues barrées pour orienter les automobilistes. Ils pourront remettre, à ceux qui le désirent, un plan du parcours et des voies de contournement.

Société Montréal se prépare pour le Tour la Nuit et le Tour de l’Île

Montréal se prépare pour le tour la nuit et le tour de l’île.

Les cyclistes seront à l’honneur à Montréal ce week-end. Ils seront des milliers à participer au Tour la Nuit, vendredi, et au Tour de l’Île, dimanche, pour lancer officiellement la saison du vélo. Les automobilistes devront quant à eux prévoir leurs déplacements dans le nord de la ville.

« Le Festival Go Vélo, c’est vraiment une fête où le vélo est à l’avant-plan », affirme d’emblée Jean-François Rheault, président-directeur général de Vélo Québec, qui organise le festival.

Le Tour la Nuit est « vraiment un party », poursuit M. Rheault. L’événement se déroulera à partir de 20 h vendredi. Les cyclistes seront invités à pédaler 24 kilomètres dans des rues fermées à la circulation pour l’occasion, vêtus de leurs plus beaux accessoires lumineux.

« Il y a un sentiment de bonheur de pouvoir rouler dans la ville sans interactions avec les voitures. Il y a vraiment un sentiment de sécurité, de liberté. Il y a un côté hyperpaisible à l’idée de juste pouvoir découvrir la ville », évoque M. Rheault.

Le parcours du Tour la Nuit débutera au parc Maisonneuve à l’angle du boulevard Rosemont. Les cyclistes traverseront les arrondissements de Rosemont-La-Petite-Patrie, de Saint-Michel, de Montréal-Nord et de Saint-Léonard.

Les parcours du Festival Go Vélo s’amorçaient autrefois au parc La Fontaine, dans l’arrondissement du Plateau-Mont-Royal. L’organisation a choisi de déplacer l’événement cette année en raison de la forte circulation automobile aux abords du pont Jacques-Cartier, causée par les travaux du tunnel Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine.

Vélo Québec s’attend à ce que près de 20 000 personnes participent au Tour la Nuit, et que près de 18 000 prennent part au Tour de l’Île.

Un Tour de l’Île qui traverse sept arrondissements

Le 38 e  Tour de l’Île de Montréal se tiendra pour sa part le dimanche 4 juin. L’événement emblématique propose aux cyclistes de parcourir 47 kilomètres dans les rues de la métropole, qui seront inaccessibles aux automobilistes. Le départ de cette activité se déroulera aussi au parc Maisonneuve, et sera effectué sur le coup de 9 h 15.

Les participants au Tour de l’Île traverseront sept arrondissements de Montréal : Rosemont–La-Petite-Patrie, Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension, Ahuntsic-Cartierville, Montréal-Nord, Rivières-des-Prairies-Pointe-aux-Trembles, Anjou et Saint-Léonard.

Pour les plus sportifs, des parcours alternatifs de 53, 75 ou 99 kilomètres seront proposés. Toutefois, ces trajets comporteront des rues ouvertes à la circulation automobile. Il n’y aura pas de départ officiel pour ces parcours « découverte », et les cyclistes les amorceront à leur rythme à partir de 7 h.

« C’est une fête oui, mais ça permet aux gens d’expérimenter la ville d’un point de vue différent, puis parfois de se dépasser », affirme le président de Vélo Québec.

Les deux activités se termineront également au parc Maisonneuve. Des DJ, des jeux gonflables et d’autres activités animeront petits et grands.

« Il y aura le retour de la grande roue, qu’on avait laissée de côté durant la pandémie. Ça va vraiment être un site festif », promet M. Rheault.

Les cyclistes qui souhaitent participer à ces événements peuvent toujours s’inscrire sur le site web de Vélo Québec, ou bien compléter leur inscription sur place le jour même. Les enfants de 12 ans et moins peuvent participer à l’événement gratuitement.

Entraves pour les automobilistes

Les automobilistes devront prévoir leurs déplacements s’ils comptent circuler dans le nord de l’île de Montréal, vendredi soir ou dimanche. Vélo Québec invite les citoyens à consulter la carte du trajet des cyclistes, ou à utiliser l’application Waze, où le parcours des cyclistes sera indiqué.

Lors des deux événements, l’autoroute 40 et la rue Sherbrooke seront ouvertes à la circulation automobile, de même que le boulevard Saint-Michel, l’autoroute 25 et l’autoroute 15.

« Il y a vraiment des options pour pouvoir bouger, il suffit d’un peu mieux se préparer », déclare M. Rheault.

With Tour de l'Île weekend pedalling into Montreal, drivers should plan their trips

Road closures begin friday night with tour la nuit, daytime event is planned for sunday.

This weekend, Tour de l'Île will be pedalling through parts of Montreal, leading to fun for cyclists but headaches for some drivers trying to navigate certain areas of the city.

Things will kick off Friday night with the Tour la Nuit, starting at Maisonneuve park. 

While the biking starts at 8 p.m., street closures will begin at 5 p.m. when Rosemont Boulevard closes between Viau Street and Pix-IX Boulevard in the city's east end.

From there, a long list of streets will close for blocks of time, some for several hours. For example, that first section will be closed until midnight. The night course covers 24 car-free kilometres through six boroughs.

The night tour will travel through boroughs such as Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, Saint-Léonard, Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie, Anjou and Montréal-Nord.

Then on Sunday, a different route is on offer for the daytime riders, giving them exclusive use of 47 kilometres of streets through seven boroughs. 

The loop will go through areas such as Rivière-des-Prairies, Anjou, Montréal-Nord, Ahuntsic-Cartierville, Parc-Extension, Outremont, Plateau-Mont-Royal and Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie.

A complete list of street closures can be found here , with closures starting at 6 a.m. and running into the afternoon. The map can be  found here . Cyclists start pedalling at 9:15 a.m., with activities throughout the route.

"As these events will change the usual traffic conditions, we invite you to plan your trips," organizer Vélo Québec says on its website .

Alternative measures have been put in place to ensure access to health-care facilities located near the Tour la Nuit and Tour de l'Île routes, Vélo Québec says.

The organization recommends getting information from the health facility, or by calling 811.

The organization also has a support service to help people navigate traffic. They can email or call for more information. The contact information is available on Vélo Québec's website .

Here's which roads will be closed in Montreal for Tour de l'Ile weekend

Motorists driving in and around Montreal this weekend should be aware that the Tour la Nuit (Friday) and Tour de l'Ile (Sunday) will take place in addition to a number of construction projects that will force road closures.

Notably, the Saint-Pierre interchange, and highways 13, 15, and 440 will feature more than a few orange cones denoting construction projects underway.

SAINT-PIERRE INTERCHANGE

From Friday at midnight to Monday at 5 a.m., the following closure will be in effect:

• The Route 138 eastbound ramp (from the Honoré-Mercier bridge) to Highway 20 westbound / airport.
• From Saturday at 7 a.m. to Sunday at 11 p.m., two of three lanes will be closed on Route 138 eastbound between Clement Street and the interchange.
• As a result, the Clement Street entrance will be a default closure from Friday at 11 p.m. to Monday at 5:30 a.m.

Saint-Pierre interchange closures from June 2 to 5, 2023.

Ville marie expressway (r-136).

From Friday at 10 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m., the following closure will be in effect:

• At the end of the eastbound Ville-Marie tunnel, exit 6 (boulevard Saint-Laurent, rue Berri).

METROPOLITAINE EXPRESSWAY (A-40)

From Friday at midnight to Saturday at 9 p.m., and from Sunday at 6 a.m. to Monday at 6 a.m., the following closure will be in effect:

• On the Metropolitaine (A-40) eastbound, exit 74 (D'Iberville Street).

From Friday at 11 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m., the following closure will be in effect:

• In Pointe-Claire, on Highway 20 westbound, Exit 53 (boulevard des Sources).

Sources Interchange closures from June 2 to 5, 2023.

• Heading south, Exit 4 (Montreal / Centre-Ville, Jacques-Cartier Bridge) and the entrance from Sherbrooke Street.

La Fontaine tunnel closures from June 2 to 5, 2023.

From Friday at 10 p.m. to Monday at 6 a.m., the following closure will be in effect:

• In Laval, Highway 13 northbound, between exit 15 (A-440, R-148, Boulevard Dagenais) and the Sainte-Rose Boulevard entrance.
• As a result, the Notre-Dame Boulevard and Highway 440 entrances are default closures.

Highway 13 closures from June 2 to 5,2023.

Highway 440.

From Friday at 9.30 p.m. to Saturday at 6.30 a.m., from Saturday at 9:30 p.m. to Sunday at 7:30 a.m., and from Sunday at 9 p.m. to Monday at 4 a.m., the following closure will be in effect:

• In Laval, Highway 440 eastbound, between exit 19 (R-117, Chomedey Boulevard) and the Corbusier Boulevard entrance.

As a result, the following are default closures:

• The entrances from A-13 and R-117.
• From Saturday at 6.30 a.m. to 9.30 p.m. and on Sunday from 7.30 a.m. to 9 p.m., one of three lanes on Highway 440 eastbound will be closed, between exit 19 (R-117, Chomedey Boulevard) and the next entrance.
• As a result, exit 22 (A-15, Industriel Boulevard) is a default closure.

HIGHWAY 15 (LA PRAIRIE)

On Friday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on Sunday from 8 a.m. to Monday at 5 a.m., the following closure will be in effect:

• Two of three lanes on Highway 15 southbound between exit 50 (Matte Boulevard) and the entrance to the R-134 (Taschereau Boulevard).

As a result, the Matte Boulevard and Robert Street entrances are default closures.

From Friday at 9 p.m. to Saturday at 8 a.m., and from Saturday at 9 p.m. to Sunday at 8 a.m., the following closure will be in effect:

• Highway 15 southbound between exit 50 (Matte Boulevard) and the entrance to Route 134 (Taschereau Boulevard).
• As a result, the Salaberry Street and Montcalm Boulevard exits are default closures.

MONTREAL CLOSURES

In Montreal, The Tour la Nuit on Friday and Tour de l'Île on Sunday will result in several closures in the city.

In the Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension borough, two of three eastbound lanes on Crémazie Boulevard will be closed between Jarry and Molson streets, from Friday at midnight to Saturday at 9 p.m. and from Sunday at 6 a.m. to Monday at 6 a.m.

In the Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension borough, two of three westbound lanes of Crémazie Boulevard will be closed at Iberville Street from Friday at midnight to Saturday at 9 p.m.

On Highway 19 northbound, exit 4 (Boulevard Lévesque) will be closed on Sunday from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Notre Dame and Concorde Boulevard ramps on the Highway 15 service roads will be closed in both directions on Sunday from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Firefighters' Run on Sunday, June 4, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. will result in several road closures.

OTHER CLOSURES

• On Highway 10 west in Brossard, exit 8 (R-134, Taschereau Boulevard) will be closed until Monday, June 12 at 5 a.m.
• Starting on Tuesday, June 6, construction work will begin on a new left-hand lane on Highway 15 (des Laurentides) between highways 640 and 50. The work will take three years to complete.
• Until December 2023, Highway 40 eastbound will be closed with one lane open in each direction on the wesbound section of the highway between the Morgan Boulevard sector in Baie-D'Urfé and the entrance from Saint-Charles Boulevard in Kirkland. Speed will be reduced throughout the worksite.

All roadwork may be cancelled in the event of adverse weather conditions or operational constraints, closures may be cancelled or modified. Visit Quebec511.info to find out about current and future network closures.

Voici les rues fermées pour le Tour de l’Île et le Tour la Nuit

Cette fin de semaine, c’est le festival Go Vélo MTL, et ce sera l’occasion pour les cyclistes de prendre part au Tour la Nuit, vendredi soir, ou au Tour de l’Île, dimanche. Les participants à vélo auront la totalité de la chaussée pour eux, et un certain nombre de rues seront donc fermées. Découvrez lesquelles avec ces cartes.

Le vendredi 2 juin, entre 17h et minuit, des axes seront bloqués pour le Tour la Nuit dans Rosemont, Saint-Léonard et Montréal-Nord. La boucle empruntée par les participants passe, entre autres, par les rues Viau et Beaubien ainsi que par les boulevards Langelier, Gouin et Provencher. Voici la carte de toutes les rues fermées, avec les horaires.

Le dimanche 4 juin, ce sera au tour des cyclistes de jour d’enfourcher leur vélo et de pédaler à travers les quartiers de la métropole. Il y aura des impacts sur la circulation dans Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie, Saint-Léonard, Rivière-des-Prairies, Montréal-Nord, Ahuntsic, Villeray et Parc-Extension.

Parmi les grands axes bloqués par le Tour de l’Île, on compte les boulevards Provencher, Lavoisier, Gouin, De l’Acadie et Rosemont ainsi que la rue Viau. Voici la totalité des routes fermées et les horaires de fermeture.

Pour les automobilistes qui devront circuler lors des deux événements, Vélo Québec a collaboré avec l’application Waze, permettant aux usagers de celle-ci de voir les fermetures en temps réel. De plus, une ligne téléphonique Info-circulation est déployée mercredi et jeudi de 9h à 17h, vendredi de 12h à 23h, samedi de 9h à 17h, et dimanche de 7h à 15h. Les numéros de téléphone sont les suivants: 514 521-8356, poste 380 ou 1 800 567-8356, poste 380.

The Tour de l’Île de Montréal will cause road closings this weekend, mainly in the city’s northeast boroughs.

The annual cycling event and its nighttime counterpart, Tour la Nuit — known together as the Festival Go Vélo Montréal — are taking place Friday and Sunday.

Organizers say alternative measures have been put in place to ensure access to health-care facilities located near the routes for both events. Vélo Québec also suggests people get information from the hospitals or clinics before going.

Cyclists taking part in the 24-kilometre Tour la Nuit will leave from Parc Maisonneuve on Friday evening and make their way through Rosemont—La Petite-Patrie, Villeray—St-Michel—Parc-Extension, Montreal North, Anjou and St-Léonard.

Street closings are expected between 5 p.m. and midnight Friday.

The Tour de l’Île, the bigger event of the two, will take place Sunday.

The 47.6-kilometre route will take cyclists through Rosemont—La Petite-Patrie, Villeray—St-Michel—Parc-Extension, Ahuntsic-Cartierville, Montreal North, Rivière-des-Prairies—Pointe-aux-Trembles, Anjou and St-Léonard.

Street closings are to be expected in the boroughs between 6 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. Sunday.

Maps and full lists of the street closings for both events ( Tour la Nuit , Tour de l’Île ) can be found on a dedicated page at velo.qc.ca.

There are also longer Tour de l’Île options of 52, 75 and 100 kilometres on streets that are not closed to traffic, going as far as L’Épiphanie.

Other major closings this weekend:

• St-Pierre Interchange: The ramp from Route 138 east to Highway 20 west is closed from 11:59 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. The ramp to Highway 20 east (and, therefore, Route 138 east of Clément St.) will be closed overnight, from 12-7 a.m. Saturday and 11 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.
• Route 132 west to Mercier Bridge: 8 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Saturday
• Mercier Bridge to Route 132 east: 8 p.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Sunday
• Route 132/138 east to Mercier Bridge: 8 p.m. Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday
• Ville-Marie Expressway : The exit from Route 136 east to St-Laurent Blvd./Berri St. will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday
• Highway 13: In Laval, the highway will be completely closed northbound between the exit for Highway 440 and the entrance from Ste-Rose Blvd., from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Traffic will be detoured via the service road.
• Highway 15/Route 132: In La Prairie, Highway 15 south/Route 132 west will be closed overnights between Matte Blvd. and Taschereau Blvd., from 9 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday and from 9 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday. Otherwise, from 7 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, only one lane will be open.
• Highway 19: In Laval, the northbound exit for Lévesque Blvd. will be closed from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
• Highway 20: The westbound exit for Sources Blvd. will be closed from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
• Highway 25:  The southbound entrance from Sherbrooke St. and southbound exit for downtown via Souligny Ave. will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
• Highway 40 : The eastbound exit for Iberville St., and the eastbound service road between Jarry and Molson Sts., will be closed from 12 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 6 a.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday. Iberville St. itself is closed under the highway and the westbound service road will be down to one lane during those same times.
• Highway 440: The highway will be closed eastbound between Route 117/Chomedey Blvd. and Le Corbusier Blvd., from 9:30 p.m. Friday to 6:30 a.m. Saturday, from 9:30 p.m. Saturday to 7:30 a.m. Sunday, and from 9 p.m. Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday. During the day on Saturday and Sunday, one lane will be closed after the exit for Route 117.
• Lévesque Blvd. in Laval and other local streets along the southern lakeshore east of Highway 15 will be closed during the day Sunday for a firefighters’ race.

Accès aux établissements de santé

Des mesures alternatives ont été mises en place afin d’assurer l’accès aux établissements de santé situés à proximité des parcours d’un Tour la Nuit et du Tour de l’Île de Montréal. Nous vous recommandons :

• de vous informer auprès de l’établissement concerné avant de vous y rendre;
• d’appeler Info-Santé en composant le 811 avant de vous présenter à la salle d’urgence d’un de ces établissements;
•  d’appeler le 911 si la situation est urgente.
