Dubai, a popular travel destination, attracts a significant number of Indian tourists each year. If you're planning a trip to Dubai, understanding the visa application process is crucial. Here's a comprehensive guide to help you navigate the Dubai visa process:

Type of Visa

Tourist Visa: This is the most common type for Indian tourists and is valid for either 30 or 90 days. It's suitable for leisure travel, visiting family or friends, or business visits.

Apply Through an Airline or Travel Agency

Indian nationals cannot get a Dubai visa directly through the consulate.  Airlines: Many major airlines (like Etihad and Emirates) operating in India have tie-ups with UAE authorities and can assist you in the visa application process. Check with the airline you're flying with for details. Travel Agencies: Several authorized travel agencies can help with visa applications. They usually charge a service fee.

You can directly apply for a Dubai visa online and do not need to submit your passport at the embassy. No visa stamp is needed. You can directly enter Dubai once your visa is approved and you receive a digital copy of it.

Dubai Visa Requirements for Indian Citizens - Documents

Visa Processing Time

  • Submit Required Documents: Scan and upload all necessary documents, including a copy of your passport, confirmed flight tickets, hotel reservations, and passport-sized photographs.

UAE visa rules: all you need to know about the 60-day visa for tourists

All visas can be renewed for a further 60 days.

An immigration official checks documents of passenger at Dubai Airport. WAM

The UAE is offering new types of visa, including options for long-stay tourists, jobseekers, accomplished professionals, star students and high-net-worth individuals. Wam

Salam Al Amir author image

The new UAE visa rules that came into effect on October 3 allow holidaymakers to stay for 60 days at a time.

The decision to make all entry visas valid for 60 days from the date of issue ― double the previous allowance ― is one of a series of visa changes that were approved by the Cabinet in April.

Previously, there was no specific visa for tourists and those wishing to visit the UAE applied for 30-day, 60-day or 90-day visit visas.

The one, two and three-month entry permits are still available on a new visa, but mainly for people wishing to visit friends or relatives in the country, which requires documentary evidence proving the relationship and reasons for the visit.

All entry visas are available for single or multiple entry and can be renewed for a further 60 days.

Roshan Davis, manager of Golden Talent Tourism Agency in Dubai, said the change has made it easier for tourists to spend extended time in the country exploring and enjoying everything it has to offer.

“We have received more than 50 tourist visa applications from customers in the past four days,” he said.

Who is the tourist visa for?

Those who do not qualify for a visa on arrival or visa-free entry to the UAE can apply for a tourist visa.

Citizens from 69 countries and states are eligible for a visa on arrival in the UAE . Females below the age of 18 are not eligible to apply for a tourist visa unless they are travelling with their parents.

How can I apply for a tourist visa?

Visitors from countries that do not have a visa-on-arrival arrangement with the UAE can apply for their visas in advance through a travel agency or through the airline with which they are travelling.

How much does the tourist visa cost?

Mr Davis said they charge between Dh550 and Dh600 for 60-day visas and between Dh350 and Dh750 for one, two and three-month visa requests for visiting relatives.

A 60-day single entry visa with Etihad Airways costs Dh650, while a similar visa from Emirates airline costs Dh697 ($190). Both airlines offer a shorter, 30-day visa priced at Dh350 for Etihad and Dh330 ($90) for Emirates.

Dubai Travel Guide for Indians | Your 2022 Travel Guide to Dubai From India

Dubai Travel Guide for Indians

Dubai Travel Guide 2022 – Dubai is often the first choice for Indians when they think about a quick vacation. After all, the flying time between the two destinations is less than four hours. Read out our exclusive guide to Dubai from India and for Indians.

DUBAI FOR INDIANS?

As per the data put out by Dubai Tourism , in the first half of 2019 alone, Dubai received around one million Indians. Unsurprisingly, it’s one of the dream holiday spots for most Indians.

So if you’re one among them and considering a trip here, this exclusive Dubai travel guide for Indians , covering everything from visa information and culture and customs to the city’s top attractions and entertainment options, will prove helpful to plan your perfect Dubai holiday.

DUBAI: ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

Burj Khalifa Dubai

  • Dubai is one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
  • It’s the second-largest city in the UAE, after Abu Dhabi which is also the country’s capital city.
  • HH Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is the ruler of Dubai. He’s also the country’s prime minister and the vice president.
  • Arabic is the local language.
  • Emiratis constitute less than 20% of the overall population, with over 80% being the ex-pat community from over 150 countries.
  • The UAE Dirham or AED is the local currency and is pegged to the US Dollar, exchangeable at a rate of AED 3.67 per one USD. As per the current rate, one dirham is equivalent to a somewhat 19.5 Indian Rupee.
  • There are ATMs and reliable money exchange bureaus all over the city.
  • Dubai International Airport is the world’s fifth-busiest airport. There is also Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai South.
  • Dubai’s eclectic neighborhoods like Bur Dubai and Karama have the greatest concentration of Indians.
  • Unlike India, the weekend in Dubai falls on Fridays and Saturdays.

CULTURE & CUSTOMS

Skyline of Dubai

Skyline of Dubai

Dubai is a part of the Islamic nation means its culture, customs and traditions are deeply entrenched in its religious roots. Despite its conservative culture, it’s a liberal Arabian metropolis that respects and (of course) welcomes diverse world cultures and traditions wholeheartedly.

And as for the language and other aspects, Indians will find it easy to communicate and navigate the city, with the majority of the ex-pat community being people from different parts of India.

PLAN YOUR DUBAI TRIP

  • Best Time to Visit: You can travel to Dubai during any part of the year, however, the most recommended time is during the cool, pleasant winter months (November to April), particularly if you enjoy the outdoors or want to participate in popular events like DSF (Dubai Shopping Festival). Al though Dubai never slows during summer months (May to September), it’s still good to know that the temperature outside will be exceedingly high reaching up to 55 degrees Celsius.
  • Recommended Duration: With tons of attractions and experiences to discover, you’ll need at least four to five days to take in Dubai’s top attractions.
  • At Religious Sites: Ladies should wear loose clothing that covers your head, shoulders, and knees.
  • Theme Parks: Choose comfortable clothing that is not revealing.
  • Beaches: You can wear whatever you usually put on your beach visit. But, make sure that you dress modestly and don’t go topless.
  • Must-have: Now even if it’s summer or winter, dress modestly. Also, carry a cardigan as the malls and other indoor attractions are air-conditioned and hence super cool in every climate.
  • Cosmetics & Medications: Besides your regular beauty creams and medications, be sure to pack a good quality sunscreen as Dubai has year-round intense sunshine.
  • Other accessories: H ats, sunglasses, and a pair of good quality footwear.
  • Gadgets: There is so much to see in Dubai means it also allows for some insta-worthy pictures. So come prepared with (camera, tripod, etc) to capture the best ever clicks.
  • Where to stay? Choose an accommodation that provides easy access to all attractions and experiences covered in your travel program. If shopping and entertainment are high on your priority, consider accommodation in Al Barsha or Downtown Dubai. If you’re looking for budget-friendly choices, there are some decent choices across Dubai’s Bur Dubai and Deira regions.

DUBAI VISA INFORMATION

Dubai visa or UAE visa can be used to travel anywhere in the country. Indians planning for a short trip to Dubai can apply for a Tourist Visa, Visit Visa or a Transit Visa. There is also a multiple-entry visa which is especially ideal for those who wish to fly in and out of Dubai multiple times during the duration of the visa.

Some Indians are eligible for a Visa on Arrival (check below for more details) too. Apart from these, people traveling to Dubai or UAE during the period from July 15 to September 15 don’t have to pay any visa charge for their kids (under 18 years). All tourist visas except for 30-day visas are non-renewable.

  • Accurately filled out the tourist visa application form.
  • A valid Indian passport that holds a validity of at least six months from the date you plan to enter Dubai or UAE.
  • Scanned copies of the first and last pages of your passport.
  • Clear passport size photographs of passengers taken against a white background.
  • If you’re female planning to travel alone, attach a NOC from your father or husband.
  • We recommend checking out good resources from the internet on Dubai Tourist Visa & Dubai Visa
  • A letter which details the purpose of your visit.
  • Your Dubai sponsor’s passport and resident visa copies.
  • A security deposit of up to AED 2000 per visa. This is refundable but only once you submit the proof of your exit from the country.
  • The confirmed air ticket of your onward journey
  • Confirmed hotel booking
  • Visa on Arrival: This is applicable to only those Indians who hold a residency visa of the UK or European Union.

OK to Board?

This is a mandatory procedure to be adhered to by Indians planning for a short or temporary visit to the UAE. If you don’t know what Ok to Board is, it’s a simple procedure wherein your airline conducts a check in order to ensure the legitimacy of your UAE travel documents, mainly passport, UAE visa, etc.

In fact, you’ll be able to board the plane and travel only if your airline verifies all documents and update your PNR status as ‘OK to Board.’ Apart from this, you can seek the help of your visa service provider to get this process done for a nominal charge.

DUBAI ATTRACTIONS & EXPERIENCES

Burj Khalifa

This list is especially for first-timers traveling to Dubai. Additionally, check out our detailed blog on places to visit in Dubai .

  • Burj Khalifa: Towering over Downtown Dubai, Burj Khalifa is the world’s tallest building. A picture against this mammoth, 828-meter high structure makes a great souvenir picture of your Dubai visit. You can further take to its observation deck on 124 th level or 148 th level for the most panoramic views over Dubai and beyond.
  • Dubai Mall & Dubai Dancing Fountain Show: Right next to the Burj Khalifa is Dubai Mall which is one of the world’s biggest malls. If you think it’s just for shopping (with over 1200 outlets), the reality is that it’s an ultimate leisure and edutainment spot, with attractions such as Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo, KidZania, VR Park, etc. Placed amid Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall is the fabulous ever Dubai Fountain which blows you away with the largest of its choreographed water show.

Bastakiya Quarter

  • Bastakiya Quarter: One of the best ways to get your fill of Emirati culture and past is to make a visit to the Bastakiya Quarter or Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood. This heritage site is well preserved with its ancient sand-colored structures complemented by wind towers and traditional courtyards. Besides a trip to its top attractions such as Dubai Museum and Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding, you can take an abra ride along Dubai Creek.
  • Ski Dubai: This is undoubtedly Dubai’s coolest attraction. Located within the Mall of the Emirates, this gives you the chance to participate in authentic snow activities even when Dubai simmers with a temperature of over 50 degrees Celsius.
  • Dubai Parks and Resorts: This is the region’s first-of-its-kind integrated resort with three theme parks and a water park under its roof, such as Motiongate Dubai, Bollywood Parks Dubai, Legoland Dubai, and Legoland Dubai. Yes, you guessed it right; Bollywood Parks is dedicated to your favorite Hindi movies and iconic characters.
  • Palm Jumeirah: The palm-tree shaped Palm Jumeirah is probably the first thing that comes into the mind when one thinks about Dubai. The exquisiteness of this man-made island is best experienced from a sky-high viewpoint on a helicopter ride or a sky diving adventure. If this is not affordable, go on a sightseeing tour or take a monorail ride which covers almost the entire of Palm Island, from Al Sufouh Gateway Station to Aquaventure Waterpark within Atlantis, The Palm Hotel.
  • Burj Al Arab: This is yet another attraction that stands as an epitome of Dubai’s unrivaled grandeur. After all, it’s touted as the world’s only seven-star hotel. Now if you want to experience its regal interiors, book a table at one of its many opulent dining venues.
  • Desert Safari: This is one of the best ways to get introduced to Dubai’s untouched desert landscape. Besides heart-racing experiences like dune bash, sandboarding, etc, it allows you to sink into the best aspects of Bedouin culture and traditions, with activities including a camel ride, Shisha smoking, and falconry.
  • Dinner Dhow Cruise: Onboard a traditional wooden Arabian dhow, this cruise along Dubai Creek or Dubai Marina promises you a magical night out in Dubai with the most stunning views, scrumptious food, and scintillating live performances.

SHOPPING IN DUBAI

Dubai Local Market

From the traditional Arabian bazaars (souks) to the coolest shopping malls, Dubai is a true shoppers’ haven. Even if you aren’t into shopping, you can’t help but stop at its many extraordinary shopping hotspots.

While each of its 65 plus malls is a world unto itself, don’t overlook its atmospheric souks, particularly Gold Souk which is definite to leave you in awe with its hundreds of shops selling striking gold jewelry.

WHERE TO EAT?

Dubai Dates Culture

Dubai offers almost everything that your taste buds crave, from sumptuous local treats to specialties from acclaimed fast-food chains like KFC, McDonald’s, and Papa Johns to authentic Mexican, American, Malay, and Chinese cuisines.

Now if your liking for Indian cuisines is stanch, you’ll be spoilt for choices with a staggering array of Indian restaurants all over the city. Peppermill and Options by Sanjeev Kumar are just a few of them. And the best thing is that the city caters to every budget, no matter you’re looking for high-end dining options or super affordable venues.

  GETTING AROUND

Dubai Ferry

Metro: This is probably Dubai’s most popular transport option. Being driverless and completely automated, it’s a must-experience during your Dubai vacation. The major plus is that it’s super swift and affordable too.

Public Bus: With over 1500 air-conditioned buses, this is a budget-friendly option to travel anywhere in Dubai.

Cab: Hiring a cab is undoubtedly the most hassle-free option to get around in the city.

Dubai Ferry: With five ferry terminals, this water transport is ideal for anyone looking for an exotic way to discover Dubai’s stunning sights.

All of the above transport options are operated by the Dubai Government’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA). Purchase an NOL card that can be used to make payment for all RTA transport.

TOP DUBAI TRAVEL TIPS

  • Pre-book to lock in the best rates for your accommodation, flight tickets, etc.
  • For the best value, choose an all-inclusive package with sightseeing, cruise, and desert safari.
  • Don’t eat or drink in public if you’re visiting here during Ramadan.
  • Penalty may be imposed if you’re found smoking or drinking in public.
  • Be cautious while taking pictures; capturing images of government buildings, locals (particularly local Emirati women) are not allowed.
  • Apart from your visa and passport, carry your important documents like travel insurance and international driving license if you plan to drive your own.

Dubai Fountain Show

A trip to Dubai can be overwhelming without a proper plan or travel program. We hope that this extensive Dubai travel guide will come in handy to plan your dream Arabian holiday.

Dubai 3 months Visit Visa Price Guide - 2022 Rates

With its towering skyscrapers, picture-perfect beaches, and friendly, outgoing locals, Dubai has become the travel destination of choice for visitors from all over the world.

You must obtain a Dubai tourist visa through Arabiers if you plan on traveling to Dubai or bringing a family member or friend. We have our tourist visa quota with Dubai immigration, and once you connect with us, the entire process will become simpler.

Understandably, you might be concerned about the visit visa cost and additional fees, but you can relax knowing that our rates are the most affordable. You won't have to worry about a thing if you let us handle everything related to obtaining a visa for your trip to the UAE.

Documents required to get the Dubai 3-Month Visa

The following is a list of the documents you must submit to obtain a visit visa for Dubai valid for three months, either with a single entry or multiple entries.

  • Confirmed return flight tickets to Dubai and back.
  • Scanned copy of your passport's first and last pages provided it has a minimum of 6 months validity.
  • Scanned colored photocopy of your passport-size photograph taken on a white background.
  • Scanned color photocopy of your PAN card.

How long does it takes to get the 3 Month Dubai Visa

It takes 3-4 working days from the submission date (excluding Friday, Saturday, and any UAE Holiday) to process 3 Months' Dubai Visa. You are required to apply between 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

If you think the 3-4 working days are too long, you can get the Dubai Express Visa because it takes 36 hours from the time of application submission, and you are issued with the visa. The application excludes Friday, Saturday, and any UAE holiday. To have the application for Dubai Express Visa processed on time, you must apply from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

Dubai 3-Month Visit Visa Price

The fee for a standard processing, single-entry visa valid for three months in Dubai is AED 800. The prices for a visa to stay in Dubai for three months include all applicable taxes and service charges.

The cost of a multiple-entry visa valid for three months in Dubai is AED 2,250. It would cost you AED 2200 to extend your visa by three months or get a new one while you live in Dubai.

It is possible to check the progress of 3 months Dubai visa after the applications have been submitted. The following are steps on step how to go about it.

  • Visit www.dubaivisa.net/india/index.html .
  • After then, click on the link "Track Your Application."
  • The reference number and the passport's expiration date must be provided on the page corresponding to this information.
  • When you have completed this step, the status of your application for a visa to Dubai will be presented on the page corresponding to it.

Dubai 3 months Visit Visa Price Guide - 2022 Rates

  • After applying for 3 months Dubai visa, the application can be rejected because of the below reasons.
  • The applicant works in an occupation requiring little or no special training, such as farming or construction.
  • The applicant possesses a handwritten passport, typical for inhabitants of Pakistan and Bangladesh.
  • If the applicant has a history of criminal activity, it has been established that they committed fraud or have been accused of engaging in inappropriate behavior in the United Arab Emirates.
  • If the application form contains any significant cases of a typographical error
  • The photograph sent in does not adhere to the requirements mentioned in the specification.
  • The candidate has given false information about themselves on the application.
  • There is a lack of any documentation that is required.
  • The visa application form contains incorrect information regarding the applicant's passport number or other pertinent information.
  • Two candidates with details that are eerily identical to one another, such as their names, birth dates, etc.
  • A candidate who has previously applied for and been granted a Dubai Visa Online but has not traveled to the country.
  • A candidate who applied for and was granted a work visa through the relevant organization but who did not enter or visit the nation
  • An applicant who formerly resided in the UAE but left the country without first canceling his visa to enter Dubai after leaving the country

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) currently has a more lenient policy regarding the visa extension . It enables travelers to extend their visas twice within the UAE without leaving the country.

The Dubai visit visa can be renewed up to two additional times for a total extension length of no more than sixty other days. Depending on your strategy, you may be able to extend your visa for Dubai for a nominal additional cost.

Compared with other Visas, prices guide

You can get other types of UAE visas, not only the 3 months Dubai visa, but also 30 days Dubai visa. Below is a list of the UAE visa's single and multiple entries and prices.

The multiple-entry visas for the United Arab Emirates are sometimes confusing. They begin counting from the day you enter the country and allow you to enter it several times within the next 30 or 90 days.

Dubai 3 months Visit Visa Price Guide - 2022 Rates

The 3 months Dubai visa allows one to Stay in UAE for around 90 days. After 90 days, you are given 10 days, a grace period, to figure out how to extend your stay. After the 10 days you have not legalized your stay in UAE, you will be fined for overstaying.

The overstay fee that applies to visitors who continue to stay in the UAE after the expiration of their visit visa is distinct from the overstay fine that applies to residents who remain in the country after their visa has expired.

The fines levied against persons who fall into this group are far higher than those set against residents. This type of visa holder also receives a grace period when they apply.

Nevertheless, this privilege is highly restricted, as it only lasts for ten days and only applies to posts made during this time; daily fees are imposed. During this period, the visiting visa can be renewed or converted into a resident visa if the applicant chooses. The following are the fines one can get for overstaying in UAE;

  • On the first day of overstay, AED 200
  • Each consecutive day AED100
  • Service fees are AED 100

Dubai Introduces 5-year Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa For Indian Travellers

' data-src=

Dubai : Dubai has introduced a five-year multiple-entry visa to boost travel between India and the Gulf nation, according to the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism.

This step ensures that the visa, issued within two to five working days upon receiving and accepting the service request, allows its holder to stay in the country for 90 days, extendable once for a similar period, with a total stay not exceeding 180 days in one year.

Through this initiative, tourists can leverage multiple entries and exits, providing operational flexibility for business engagements, leisure travel, and seamless connectivity.

According to the latest data from the DET, Dubai received 2.46 million overnight visitors from India between January and December 2023.

This shows a significant increase from the 1.84 million tourists in 2022, surpassing the pre-pandemic figure of 1.97 million visitors in 2019. DET notes that this ‘significant’ initiative allows tourists to leverage multiple entries and exits, providing operational flexibility for both business engagements and leisure travel.

Adding to this, Bader Ali Habib, the regional head of proximity markets at DET, expressed that Dubai values its long-standing relationship with India, and highlighted the outstanding inbound visitation from the Indian market in 2023, contributing to a record-breaking performance in Dubai’s tourism sector.

Dubai welcomed 17.15 million international overnight visitors in 2023, a 19.4 per cent growth over the 14.36 million tourist arrivals in 2022, according to DET data.

Advance travel planning and early visa application are important. If you plan to apply for a nonimmigrant visa to come to the United States as a temporary visitor, please review the current wait time for an interview using the tool below. Not all visa applications can be completed on the day of the interview; please read the information below for more details .

Check the estimated wait time for a nonimmigrant visa interview appointment at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate.

Note: Please check the individual Embassy or Consulate website to determine if your case is eligible for a waiver of the in-person interview.

Applicants scheduling visa appointments in a location different from their place of residence should check post websites for nonresident wait times.

Select a U.S. Embassy or Consulate:

Global Visa Wait Times

Wait Time for Interview

The estimated wait time to receive a nonimmigrant visa interview appointment at a U.S. embassy or consulate and is based on workload and staffing and can vary from week to week. The information provided is an estimate and does not guarantee the availability of an appointment.

Wait Time for Interview Waiver

Wait times for applicants eligible for Interview Waiver are applicable only for locations where applicants schedule appointments to submit their passport and any required documents to a U.S. embassy or consulate. The wait time estimate does not account for the time required for a consular officer to adjudicate the application nor mailing time of passports or other documents. Refer to the website of the Embassy or Consulate Visa Section where you will apply to determine your eligibility for Interview Waiver and for instructions for submitting a nonimmigrant visa application. Note that applicants must be a national or resident of the country where they are applying to be eligible to apply via Interview Waiver.

Qualifications for an Expedited Interview Appointment

Consular sections overseas may be able to expedite your interview date if there is an urgent, unforeseen situation such as a funeral, medical emergency, or school start date. The process to request an expedited nonimmigrant visa interview varies by location. You should refer to the instructions on the website of the Embassy or Consulate Visa Section  where you will interview, or on their online appointment scheduling site. You will need to provide proof of the need for an earlier appointment.

In all cases : You must first submit the online visa application form (DS-160), pay the application fee, and schedule the first available interview appointment. Only at this point will a consular section consider your request for an expedited appointment.

Note: Travel for the purpose of attending weddings and graduation ceremonies, assisting pregnant relatives, participating in an annual business/academic/professional conference, or enjoying last-minute tourism does not qualify for expedited appointments. For such travel, please schedule a regular visa appointment well in advance.

These estimates do not include time required for administrative processing, which may affect some applications. When administrative processing is required, the timing will vary based on individual circumstances of each case.

There are only two possible outcomes for U.S. visa applications. The consular officer will either issue or refuse the visa. If a visa applicant has not established that he or she is eligible for a visa, the consular officer must refuse that application. However, some refused visa applications may require further administrative processing. When administrative processing is required, the consular officer will inform the applicant at the end of the interview. The duration of the administrative processing will vary based on the individual circumstances of each case. At the conclusion of the administrative processing period, the consular officer might conclude that an applicant is now qualified for the visa for which he or she applied. The officer may also conclude that the applicant remains ineligible for a visa. Visa applicants are reminded to apply early for their visas, well in advance of the anticipated travel date.

Important Notice:   Except in cases of emergency travel (i.e. serious illnesses, injuries, or deaths in your immediate family), before making inquiries about status of administrative processing, applicants should wait at least 180 days from the date of interview or submission of supplemental documents, whichever is later.

About Visa Processing Wait Times – Nonimmigrant Visa Applicants

Information about nonimmigrant visa wait times for interviews and visa processing time frames are shown on this website, as well as on U.S. Embassy and Consulate websites worldwide. It should be noted that the “Wait Times for a Nonimmigrant Visa to be Processed” information by country does not include time required for administrative processing. Processing wait time also does not include the time required to return the passport to applicants, by either courier services or the local mail system.

In addition, it is important to thoroughly review all information on the specific  Embassy or Consulate Visa Section website  for local procedures and instructions, such as how to make an interview appointment. Embassy and Consulate websites will also explain any additional procedures for students, exchange visitors and those persons who need an earlier visa interview appointment.

About Wait Times

* Calendar days refers to every day of the week, including days when embassies are closed (such as weekends and holidays).

† Work days refers only to days when the embassy is open and does not include weekends and holidays.

‡ A, G, and NATO applications are excluded from these wait times, as they are processed separately.

According to the report, Dubai's rise in the Leading Maritime Capitals index for 2024 is attributed to five key factors: shipping centres, maritime technology, ports and logistics, attractiveness and competitiveness, as well as financial and legal aspects.

The report also highlighted Dubai's accent on green technology in the maritime sector.

Singapore has retained its title as the leading maritime city in the world for 2024.

Application for a Visitor Visa (Temporary Resident Visa - TRV)

You need to give your biometrics.

In most cases, you now need to give your fingerprints and photo (biometrics) after you apply.

Find out who needs to give biometrics and how the new application process works.

Biometrics and the application process

Image that represents the different stages of the application process and biometrics.

We refer to your fingerprints and photo as biometrics. We collect biometrics for most applications. Find out what happens from when you submit your application to when you get to Canada and where biometrics fits in the process.

1. Apply for your visitor visa, study permit or work permit

If you want to visit, study or work in Canada, make sure you’re eligible to apply. Use our application guides to help fill out your application properly, then submit your application.

Avoid processing delays by sending us a complete application .

2. Get your fingerprints and photo taken

If you’re between 14 and 79 years old, you probably need to give your fingerprints and photo (biometrics). You only need to give your biometrics once every 10 years to make repeat trips to Canada easier.

  • You must pay the  biometrics fee   when you submit your application.  Otherwise you may experience delays.
  • Get this done  as soon as you get the letter  from us that tells you to give biometrics.
  • You have  30 days  to do this from the date on the letter.

Find out who needs to give , how to give , and  where to give your biometrics .

COVID-19: Biometrics deadline

Some biometrics collection sites are closed. If the site closest to you is closed, we’ll extend your deadline to give your biometrics. Find out how COVID-19 is affecting biometrics .

3. We process your application

After we get your biometrics, we start processing your application. See how long it takes to process your application.

If we need more information from you, we’ll contact you.

4. We make a decision on your application

When we finish reviewing your application, we let you know if you’re approved to come to Canada. If you are, we issue your documents.

If your application is refused, we send you a letter that tells you why.

5. You travel to Canada (if you’re approved)

Make sure you travel with the documents we gave you. This includes travel documents like a visitor visa, study or work permits or an eTA (electronically linked to your passport).

Airline staff and border service officers at ports of entry will ask to see your travel documents. If you don’t have them, you may not be able to board your flight to Canada.

Make sure children under 18 travel with the right documents .

6. We check your identity when you arrive in Canada

When you arrive, we check your identity to make sure that you are the same person who was approved to travel to Canada. We may use your biometrics to do this.

If we can’t verify your identity, you may be detained by a border services officer. These officers help protect the health and safety of Canadians.

If the officer determines that you’re not admissible to Canada, you won’t be allowed to enter Canada. If you came by air, you’ll have to take a return flight to where you came from.

7. You’re allowed to enter Canada

If you pass the identity check and meet the entry requirements , the border services officer stamps your passport and lets you know how long you can stay in Canada. You’re normally allowed to stay in Canada for up to six months.

Children under 18 must meet the same entry requirements as adults. The border services officer may ask minor children to show other documents depending on whether the child is travelling alone or with someone.

Basic entry requirements

You must meet some basic requirements to enter Canada. You must:

  • have a valid travel document, like a passport
  • be in good health
  • have no criminal or immigration-related convictions
  • convince an immigration officer that you have ties—such as a job, home, financial assets or family—that will take you back to your home country
  • convince an immigration officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your visit
  • The amount of money you will need depends on how long you will stay and if you will stay in a hotel, or with friends or relatives.

Some people are not admissible to Canada, which means they are not allowed to enter the country. You can be inadmissible for several reasons, including being involved in:

  • criminal activity
  • human rights violations
  • organized crime

You can also be inadmissible for security, health or financial reasons.

Find out more about inadmissibility .

European Union adopts more favourable Schengen visa rules for Indians

Indian Nationals can now apply for a multiple entry Schengen visa with longer validity

On 18 April 2024, the European Commission adopted specific rules on the issuing of multiple entry visas to Indian nationals, which are more favourable than the standard rules of the Visa Code that applied to date. This new visa ‘cascade’ regime for Indian nationals residing in India who apply for Schengen (short-stay) visas in India will provide easier access to visas with multi-year validity for travellers with an established travel history, if the passport validity allows.

According to the newly adopted visa “cascade” regime for India, Indian nationals can now be issued long-term, multi-entry Schengen visas valid for two years after having obtained and lawfully used two visas within the previous three years. The two-year visa will normally be followed by a five-year visa, if the passport has sufficient validity remaining. During the validity period of these visas, holders enjoy travel rights equivalent to visa-free nationals.

This decision comes in the context of strengthened relations under the EU-India Common Agenda on Migration and Mobility, which seeks comprehensive cooperation on migration policy between the EU and India, with facilitation of people-to-people contacts being of key aspect due to the importance of India as a partner for the EU.

Schengen visas allow the holder to travel freely in the Schengen area for short stays of a maximum of 90 days in any 180-day period. The visas are not purpose-bound, but they do not grant the right to work. The Schengen area consists of 29 European countries (of which 25 are EU states): Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Greece, Spain, France, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Hungary, Malta, Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Finland and Sweden, along with Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.

Dubai plans to move its busy international airport to $35 billion new facility within 10 years

The number of passengers flying through dxb surged last year beyond its total for 2019 with 86.9 million passengers..

tourist visa for dubai from india 2022

Dubai International Airport, the world’s busiest for international travel, will move its operations to the city-state’s second, sprawling airfield in its southern desert reaches “within the next 10 years” in a project worth nearly $35 billion, its ruler said Sunday.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s announcement marks the latest chapter in the rebound of its long-haul carrier Emirates after the coronavirus pandemic grounded international travel. Plans have been on the books for years to move the operations of the airport known as DXB to Al Maktoum International Airport at Dubai World Central which had also been delayed by the repercussions of the sheikhdom’s 2009 economic crisis.

tourist visa for dubai from india 2022

“We are building a new project for future generations, ensuring continuous and stable development for our children and their children in turn,” Sheikh Mohammed said in an online statement. “Dubai will be the world’s airport, its port, its urban hub and its new global centre.” The announcement included computer-rendered images of curving, white terminal reminiscent of the traditional Bedouin tents of the Arabian Peninsula. The airport will include five parallel runways and 400 aircraft gates, the announcement said. The airport now has just two runways, like Dubai International Airport.

The financial health of the carrier Emirates has served as a barometer for the aviation industry worldwide and the wider economic health of this city-state. Dubai and the airline rebounded quickly from the pandemic by pushing forward with tourism even as some countries more slowly came out of their pandemic crouch.

The number of passengers flying through DXB surged last year beyond its total for 2019 with 86.9 million passengers. Its 2019 annual traffic was 86.3 million passengers. The airport had 89.1 million passengers in 2018 — its busiest-ever year before the pandemic, while 66 million passengers passed through in 2022.

Festive offer

Earlier in February, Dubai announced its best-ever tourism numbers, saying it hosted 17.15 million international overnight visitors in 2023. Average hotel occupancy stood at around 77%. Its boom-and-bust real estate market remains on a hot streak, nearing all-time high valuations.

But as those passenger numbers skyrocketed, it again put new pressure on the capacity of DXB, which remains constrained on all sides by residential neighborhoods and two major highways.

Al Maktoum International Airport, some 45 km (28 miles) away from DXB, opened in 2010 with one terminal. It served as a parking lot for Emirates’ double-decker Airbus A380s and other aircraft during the pandemic and slowly has come back to life with cargo and private flights in the time since. It also hosts the biennial Dubai Air Show and has a vast, empty desert in which to expand.

The announcement by Sheikh Mohammed noted Dubai’s plans to expand further south. Already, its nearby Expo 2020 site has been offering homes for buyers.

“As we build an entire city around the airport in Dubai South, demand for housing for a million people will follow,” Dubai’s ruler said. “It will host the world’s leading companies in the logistics and air transport sectors.” However, financial pressures have halted the move in the past. Dubai’s 2009 financial crisis, brought on by the Great Recession, forced Abu Dhabi to provide the city-state with a $20 billion bailout.

Meanwhile, the city-state is still trying to recover after the heaviest rainfall ever recorded in the UAE, which disrupted flights and commerce for days. (AP) SCY
