Barrage cannon
From Transformers Wiki
When he's not shooting through Decepticon body armor with his Ion blaster or slicing off heads with his battle blades or Energon Hooks , Optimus Prime will use his barrage cannon against his opponents. With a range of up to sixty miles, the laser-sighted barrage cannon fires plutonium tipped warheads at a rate of 6 warheads per second, with each warhead carrying the equivalent of 3,000 lbs of TNT. [1]
Remember that, people: Optimus Prime is carrying nukuler nuclear weapons to keep humanity safe from the Decepticons.

Transformers: Guide to Alpha Trion, the Creator of Optimus Prime
From Transformers Generation 1 to the upcoming Transformers One, Alpha Trion is an ancient Autobot, but who exactly is he and why is he important?
Quick Links
Who was alpha trion in generation 1, alpha trion was mostly ignored in the transformers anime, alpha trion in the aligned continuity, idw publishing made alpha trion more important than ever, alpha trion in modern transformers cartoons, alpha trion in transformers one, what does alpha trion transform into.
The basics of the Transformers franchise are well-known, though there's a lot of mythology and lore behind the series. Much of this derives from the creation of the Transformers themselves, namely the origins of certain Cybertronians. In the case of Autobot leader Optimus Prime himself, he's usually tied to an important elder who debuted in the Generation 1 Transformers cartoon.
Alpha Trion is typically portrayed as a wise, yet esoteric sage . Though his exact function as an Autobot has changed throughout the franchise, the basics have remained the same for the character. He's also set to finally make his cinematic debut in the upcoming animated film Transformers One , making the Cybertronian sage more important than ever.
10 G1 Transformers Who Are Much Different In Later Continuities
Alpha Trion debuted in the second season of The Transformers , namely the eponymous episode "The Search for Alpha Trion." An original character created for the show, he had no corresponding action figure in the Transformers toyline. Despite this, he proved vital to the overall mythos of the animated series. It was revealed that in the past, when he was known as A-3, Alpha Trion and fellow Cybertronian rebels were instrumental in banishing their species' Quintesson creators from the planet , ending their enslavement from the tyrannical cyborgs.
A genius inventor, he acquired a sort of mystical aura about him that made him similar to a wise wizard. He also had the appearance of an old robotic man by this point, even maintaining a metallic beard. His ingenuity came in handy millennia later when he was tasked with repairing two young robots who had been brutally attacked by Megatron and his growing Decepticon forces. These two were the young Orion Pax and his girlfriend Ariel, whom Alpha Trion rebuilt into Optimus Prime and Elita-One. Years before, Trion had also acquired the Autobot Matrix of Leadership from former leader Sentinel Prime, though he himself wasn't chosen as its bearer. Instead, he gave it to the rightful next host: Optimus Prime.
These acts made Alpha Trion into a well-known, legendary figure, which is why the Decepticons eventually attacked him for access to the fabled key to Vector Sigma. Using it to create the Stunticons, with the Vector Sigma computer itself being used to create the Aerialbots. This required Alpha Trion to sacrifice himself in order to power the computer, however, something which Optimus Prime initially refused to allow him to do. It was at this moment that Trion reminded Prime that he was his own creator, and in both a fatherly attempt to help Prime's forces and stop Megatron, he knew what he had to do. Alpha Trion became one with Vector Sigma, and Prime would speak to him many times through the Matrix of Leadership.
This remained the case throughout the series' run, with one such conversation taking place in the truncated fourth season. The Japanese Transformers Generation 1 anime took things in a different direction, ignoring the fourth season of the American series. In Transformers: The Headmasters , Alpha Trion made one last major appearance to recharge the Matrix, turning Hot Rod back into Rodimus Prime. It's worth noting that Alpha Trion was not in the Marvel Transformers comic book series , which had several divergences from the cartoon that made it a wholly separate continuity. This hasn't kept the old sage from appearing in other timelines, however.
Hasbro Re-Releases Two Transformers: War for Cybertron Optimus Primes
After Generation 1, Alpha Trion didn't make many appearances in the mainstream Transformers cartoons . This included the Unicron Trilogy anime, which comprised of Transformers: Armada , Transformers: Energon and Transformers: Cybertron . These were set in a completely new universe with no ties to G1, and there were few attempts at nostalgia or replicating the old cartoon. None of these shows featured a new version of Alpha Trion, and many other classic characters were also not in them. For instance, fan-favorite Autobot Bumblebee was completely absent during this era due to legal reasons surrounding his name. Originally, however, the yellow Autobot Hot Shot was going to be the first modern version of Bumblebee, though this fell through.
A multiversal Alpha Trion appeared in the comic book adaptations of Energon and Cybertron , though these books had their own continuity that didn't line up with the shows. Though he interacted with different versions of Optimus Prime, he was never explicitly stated as creating him. His tendency to dwell in the inner layer of Cybertron reflected his function in Generation One, however. The 2001 anime series Transformers: Robots in Disguise (the English dub of Transformers: Car Robots ) was set in a solo continuity of its own, but there were numerous callbacks to classic G1 concepts.
In that series, Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus were brothers, with Prime stating that they were created by a Cybertronian elder named Alpha Trion. This was merely a name-drop, however, with Trion never actually appearing in the series. This did back up the fan theory, however, that Generation 1 Ultra Magnus was a rebuilt version of Orion Pax and Ariel's friend, Dion. Said idea was eventually used in the Dreamwave Transformers comics , which had their own take on Generation 1 canon.
New Transformers Release Sees Limited-Edition Watches for Optimus Prime, Bumblebee & Megatron
In the Aligned Continuity (which included the TV series Transformers: Prime ), Alpha Trion was one of the original 13 Primes , with these beings created by Primus to defeat Unicron. In the years following this victory, he and the others guided society on Cybertron, with Alpha Trion activating the Well of All Sparks to begin the creation of the Cybertronian species. One of the first beings to come forth from this well was Orion Pax, the reincarnation of the Thirteenth Prime who had willingly chosen to be reborn in order to experience this new civilization. He looked after Orion in a sort of fatherly manner (much as in previous continuities), but he also kept the transformation abilities of Cybertronians hidden at the time of their "birth."
It was only after the invading Quintessons tried to enslave the species that this innate power was revealed. Alpha Trion recorded Cybertronian history in the "Covenant of Primus," which was later transcribed and sent to Earth. His status as a former Prime mirrored his portrayal in then-recent comic books, showcasing how the Aligned Continuity was meant to be a sort of evergreen take on the franchise. As usual, Alpha Trion had his classic bearded appearance, as well as his red and purple color scheme. The same was the case in the separate continuity of Transformers: Animated , where he took the function of a Cybertronian politician/council member. Any relation to Optimus Prime or Ultra Magnus wasn't specified, however.
10 Lessons the Transformers Movies Can Learn from the Comics
The Alpha Trion from the IDW Publishing Transformers comic books inspired the one later seen in the Aligned Continuity. He was one of the original Primes, with his long life allowing him to see many of the greatest and most harrowing developments of the Cybertronian species . He was also present at the forging of Orion Pax, noting how important the "newborn" would become. Eons later, he led the effort in making Cybertron habitable again, namely by ridding the planet of the corrosive elements in its atmosphere. He remained a vital part of Cybertronian society, even amid the many turmoils and battles on the planet.
Toward the end of the original IDW continuity, he was killed right after realizing that his "fellow Prime", Onyx Prime, had been none other than a time-traveling Shockwave. When Optimus Prime died in this continuity, he reflected on Alpha Trion, who was one of the many dead Transformers to greet those who had recently fallen in battle. Alpha Trion was somewhat similar in the rebooted IDW continuity, with his status at the series' beginning being that of a legendary Autobot who many had long thought to be gone. In reality, he was still alive, and Ultra Magnus saved him from the money-hungry Soundblaster. This continuity only lasted briefly, however, before IDW lost the publishing rights to the franchise.
Every Transformers TV Show In Chronological Order (Including Anime)
In the Netflix War for Cybertron trilogy , Alpha Trion and the continuity in general were handled in ways that essentially updated the G1 cartoon. There, he was simply a Cybertronian who had once led a rebellion against the Quintessons, eschewing his modern origin as one of the original Primes . He was eventually killed by his pupil Megatron, though he had already passed the Matrix of Leadership to Optimus Prime. Likewise, his vast knowledge was passed to Ultra Magnus as the combined wisdom of the Alpha Trion Protocols. Eventually, these receptacles of information were passed to Bumblebee.
In the series Transformers: Cyberverse , Alpha Trion was essentially the same as usual. A member of the High Council on Cybertron, his task was selecting the next bearer of the Matrix of Leadership. This ended up being Optimus Prime, who was chosen after Alpha Trion was mortally wounded. He continued to appear in visions and other esoteric formats in the series, but his role was otherwise minimal. This also cemented the franchise moving away from the IDW/Aligned interpretation of the character and the 13 Primes origin.
Transformers One Star Chris Hemsworth Announces Trailer Release Date for Animated Origin Movie
In the upcoming animated film Transformers One , characters such as Optimus Prime, Megatron and Bumblebee are still known as Orion Pax, D-16 and B-127. The exact details and plot of the film are still somewhat unknown beyond this "early days" scope, but Alpha Trion (voiced by Laurence Fishburne) briefly appears in the movie's first trailer. Not much is known about how this version will differ from previous incarnations, though his design is the same as ever. This makes Alpha Trion one of the most consistent-looking Transformers in the franchise.
Trion is seen giving the main group of Autobots what seem to be their transformation cogs . This allows them to transform into vehicle mode, making Alpha Trion a pivotal part of the story. It should be noted that this group includes Orion Pax and Elita-One, who apparently doesn't start out as Ariel. Thus, his relationship and hand in creating these robots is likely altered from Generation 1. He's part of the film's toyline, which suggests that he'll be a major part of the movie's plot beyond its earliest acts.
Transformers One Director Reveals the Movie's 'Real Antagonist'
Given that he didn't have a toy in Generation 1, there was no source material for what Alpha Trion's alternate mode was. Likewise, he never transformed in the cartoon, making things even more mysterious. His first planned toy was a repaint of the character Snarl from the toyline of Beast Machines: Transformers , meaning that he transformed into a techno-organic lion . The intention was originally for him to be a repaint of Lio Convoy from Beast Wars II: Transformers , but plans for this or the Snarl repaint for the fan convention BotCon fell through.
A later repaint that did come out for a later BotCon had him as a recolored version of Vector Prime's Voyager Class toy from Transformers: Cybertron . This cemented the idea that Alpha Trion had a spaceship alternate mode, which was used consistently in other continuities. The Titans Return toyline made him into a mighty Triple Changer who could transform from a robot to a ship to a lion (in reference to the unreleased BotCon toy).
A later toy made him a retooled version of the Transformers Studio Series toy for G1 Scourge, while Cyberverse Alpha Trion was a non-repainted toy, with both of these turning into ships. The recently-revealed toy for Transformers One has Alpha Trion turn into a Cybertronian lion-like creature, once again hearkening to his unmade original toy .
Transformers
Transformers is a media franchise produced by American toy company Hasbro and Japanese toy company Takara Tomy. It primarily follows the heroic Autobots and the villainous Decepticons, two alien robot factions at war that can transform into other forms, such as vehicles and animals.
Screen Rant
How orion pax became optimus prime in transformers.
The Transformers One reveals that Optimus Prime was once the seemingly normal Orion Pax. So how did he wind up with his signature powers and title?
- Transformers One delves into Optimus Prime's origin as Orion Pax, providing a new take on his evolution into the legendary hero.
- The movie draws inspiration from the 1980s animated series, showcasing how Alpha Trion played a key role in Orion's transformation.
- Unlike the live-action movies, Transformers One introduces a unique storyline focusing on Orion Pax's journey to becoming Optimus Prime.
Transformers One is confirmed to explore Optimus Prime's life as Orion Pax, making the movie the first big-screen project to dive into his evolution into the iconic hero. Whereas Michael Bay's live-action Transformers movies depicted Optimus Prime as the all-powerful and wise leader of the Autobots, Paramount's 2024 animated feature is poised to take a completely different direction. As revealed by the Transformers One trailer , Optimus Prime won't even be called by that name in the film; rather, he'll be known as Orion Pax.
Of course, Optimus Prime spending his early days as Orion Pax is not an invention of Josh Cooley's movie. The Orion Pax identity has a presence in multiple Transformers continuities. Similar to how the trailer characterizes Orion as a " worker bot " who can't transform, other Transformers stories have painted him as someone who was once just an ordinary resident of Cybertron. After all, it makes sense that there had to be a point where he " became " the great leader of Transformers' Autobots team that he's known to be today. As for how that happened, his history in the franchise reveals exactly what it took for Orion to evolve into Optimus Prime.
Orion Pax Was Rebuilt As Optimus Prime By Alpha Trion In The 1980s Cartoon
Alpha trion chose orion pax and named his optimus prime.
From the looks of things, Transformers One will be taking inspiration from The Transformers , the animated series that ran from 1984 to 1987. The show offered a detailed origin for Optimus Prime, revealing that he was formerly Orion Pax, a Cybertron storage yard worker involved in a romantic relationship with Ariel (a character who would later become Elita-One). His job resulted in an unfortunate, chance encounter with Megatron and the Decepticons, who wanted to steal the energy guarded at the storage yard. Orion Pax and Ariel's futile attempts to stop Megatron culminated in his near-destruction.
Orion Pax would have died, had it not been for the intervention of Alpha Trion, an ancient Transformer who wound up in possession of Orion and Ariel's bodies. According to Alpha Trion, he sensed something special in Orion and used his resources to repair him . In fact, Alpha Trion made him stronger than ever. Using a mystical and highly sought-after energy source known as the Matrix of Leadership, Alpha Trion completed Orion's transformation into Orion Pax and in turn, set him on a collision course with Megatron.
How Optimus Prime's Transformers One Origin Is Already Different From The Original
Transformers one is making a new origin story for orion pax.
What's shown in the Transformers One trailer bears a close resemblance to the cartoon's take on Optimus Prime's past. However, it's clearly telling its own interpretation of Optimus' story and appears to exist in a separate continuity to all other Transformers stories. The most obvious similarity, of course, is that Orion Prime will get his powers from Alpha Trion, but the circumstances vary considerably . Among the biggest changes is Megatron's role. As opposed to the animated series where Megatron was responsible for Orion needing the transformation in the first place, Transformers One is having the future archenemies share in this process.
Both Elita-One and Orion were empowered by Alpha Trion in the cartoon, but Megatron was not on the receiving end of these abilities, as he already had his Decepticon powers at this juncture in the Transformers timeline . What's more is the apparent seriousness of the situation, as Transformers One doesn't suggest that Orion needed to be saved by Alpha Trion. Rather than be repaired by the ancient Transformer, it looks like Alpha Trion will simply imbue Orion Pax and his allies with energy , instantly giving them their powers. Since his plan obviously won't be for Orion to fight Megatron, it can be assumed a different threat will be the reason for his transformation.
How Did Optimus Prime Get His Powers In Michael Bay's Movies?
"orion pax" isn't featured in the live-action movies.
As for the live-action movie version of Optimus Prime, his origin is much more ambiguous. None of the films showcased any life he may have had as Orion Pax. Thanks to an appearance in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen , Alpha Trion existed in the movie canon, but had no confirmed role in Optimus Prime's rise. Instead, his abilities - as well as those of all Transformers - seem to stem from the Allspark that gives their people life.
Why Not All Transformers Can Actually Transform
As for what makes Optimus in particular special, he's established as the last descendant of an ancient and powerful line of Transformers called the Dynasty of Primes, an aspect of his character that's also been utilized in previous Transformers adaptations. In other words, his importance and leadership role is owed partially to his heritage. Transformers One could also link Orion to the Dynasty of Primes, but whether or not that will come to pass remains to be seen.
Transformers One
Optimus Prime's First Transformers Team Revealed: Full Lineup & History Explained
- Transformers One introduces Optimus Prime as Orion Pax before he becomes the iconic hero.
- The original Autobots team in the film includes Optimus Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee, and Elita-One.
- Elita-One's role as Optimus Prime's love interest and warrior ally promises to be a major asset in battle.
The trailer for Transformers One shows off Optimus Prime's first team of Autobots. Directed by Josh Cooley, the upcoming animated film dives back into the early days of the iconic Transformers hero, before he became known as Optimus Prime. Taking place on Cyberton during Optimus' life as Orion Pax , Transformers One surrounds the character with a handful of familiar faces from the lore, but based on where it fits into the Transformers timeline , it's not surprising that some major fixtures of the franchise are missing.
Across the many live-action Transformers movies , cartoons, and comics, Optimus Prime has fought alongside a slew of powerful Autobots. A long list of heroic Transformers characters, including Bumblebee, Jazz, Ironhide, Ratchet, and more, have counted themselves as members of Optimus Prime's Autobots roster at one point or another. For Transformers One , a movie that appears to be set in its own canon, the franchise is unveiling the earliest incarnation of the Autobots lineup. Looking at what's been revealed so far, the original team in the continuity of Transformers One was comprised of four characters.
Optimus Prime Led The Original Team
Optimus prime has a long history of leading the autobots.
The lineup chosen for the film speaks to the amount of evolution the team has gone through in its long history of fighting galactic threats, but one thing that hasn't changed, apparently, is Optimus Prime's role. If the trailer is any indication, Optimus is - and always was - the Autobots' leader. He can be seen taking command in the footage. But as noted above, he won't be called Optimus Prime in the movie, or at least, not at first. Rather, he'll be Orion Pax, the name he went by before taking on the mantle of " Optimus Prime ."
In at least some aspects, Transformers One is poised to provide a take on Optimus Prime's origin story that's consistent with several other versions, which see Optimus start out as a powerless, seemingly average resident of Cybertron. In keeping with that, the Transformer One trailer describes Optimus as a worker bot who can't transform . That'll change, of course, when he and his allies are gifted their trademark abilities by a character that can be identified as Alpha Trion.
Megatron Was Once On Optimus Prime's Side
Optimus prime's biggest villain was once a capable ally.
Arguably the most surprising member of Optimus Prime's Transformers One team is D-16, a character better known as Megatron. Optimus and Megatron are fated to become archenemies, but before that happens, it looks like the two will share adventures in Transformers One's world. The trailer creates the impression that as Orion Pax and D-16 respectively, Optimus and Megatron will begin the story as friends and fellow worker bots . But as the story develops, the duo will grow into a group of four.
Considering Megatron's reputation as one of Transformers' greatest villains and a character responsible for some of Optimus Prime's toughest battles, it's fair to say that he'll bring a great deal of power to the roster. Two of the strongest characters in the franchise together on the same side obviously makes for a deadly combination . But as the lore makes clear, no matter how competent the team will be with Megatron around, it's doomed to fall apart sooner or later. Transformers history dictates that Megatron will eventually turn evil. That means his tenure will likely end in one of three ways: he quits the group to follow his own path, Optimus exiles him, or Megatron becomes a traitor to the Autobots.
Bumblebee Joined Optimus Prime & Megatron's Team
A mainstay of the autobots team.
Similar to how the live-action movies show a preference for Bumblebee when picking their principal characters, Transformers One confirms that Bumblebee was with Optimus Prime when his journey first kicked off all those years ago on Cybertron. But whereas movie audiences may know Bumblebee as a Transformer with a broken voice box , the 2024 film depicts a completely different side of him. This Bumblebee can talk just fine, and in fact, speaks quite a lot. In a position to serve as the team's comedy relief character, Bumblebee has a goofy, energetic persona that should inject some levity into a team dynamic that relies heavily on rather serious characters.
Although he may not have the raw power of Optimus or Megatron, Keegan Michael-Key's Bumblebee is poised to be a formidable addition to the roster. Making him unique to the other team members is his wrist blades . Bumblebee traditionally attacks with knife-like blades that protrude from his wrists. Michael Bay's Transformers movies avoided them, but the animated movie is heading in a different direction. Reimagining them as laser weapons, Transformers One looks to be making them a fundamental part of his arsenal, and perhaps the source of some humor as well, as evidenced by the scene where Bumblebee is accused of needlessly destroying a door.
Elita-One Is Often Portrayed As One Of Optimus Prime's First Allies
Optimus prime's long-time love interest and reliable ally.
Voiced by Scarlett Johansson, Elita-One completes the lineup of Optimus Prime's team in Transformers One . The female Autobot warrior may not be as high-profile as Optimus Prime, Megatron, or Bumblebee, but the character has a rich and storied history in the franchise nonetheless. However, it's limited only to material outside the live-action films. While Elita-One is technically credited with an appearance in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen , the female Autobot was only assigned that name by a tie-in comic.
8 Hints That Transformers 8 Will Take The Franchise Off Earth For The First Time
Transformers One elevates Elita-One to a role reminiscent of the presence she has in the comics and cartoons. In the original Transformers cartoon, it was established that in the early period of the timeline, Elita-One was involved in a romance with Orion Pax on Cybertron. When it came time for him to defend his planet, Elita-One was often at his side, contributing as much as she could to the defense of their home planet . In addition to the parts she played in the show's exploration of the events that took place in the past, Elita-One also appeared in the present-day story, helping the Autobots battle Deceptions on Earth.
Like the other three members of the group featured in Transformers One , Elita-One promises to be a major asset to them in battle. The trailer shows Elita-One morphing into a motorcycle , which makes her transformation different from her teammates. Based on its used in combat, using the form with allow a great degree of mobility, meaning she can use it to nimbly avoid attacks and maneuver around her opponents.

First refuelling for Russia’s Akademik Lomonosov floating NPP
!{Model.Description}
The FNPP includes two KLT-40S reactor units. In such reactors, nuclear fuel is not replaced in the same way as in standard NPPs – partial replacement of fuel once every 12-18 months. Instead, once every few years the entire reactor core is replaced with and a full load of fresh fuel.
The KLT-40S reactor cores have a number of advantages compared with standard NPPs. For the first time, a cassette core was used, which made it possible to increase the fuel cycle to 3-3.5 years before refuelling, and also reduce by one and a half times the fuel component in the cost of the electricity produced. The operating experience of the FNPP provided the basis for the design of the new series of nuclear icebreaker reactors (series 22220). Currently, three such icebreakers have been launched.
The Akademik Lomonosov was connected to the power grid in December 2019, and put into commercial operation in May 2020.
Electricity generation from the FNPP at the end of 2023 amounted to 194 GWh. The population of Pevek is just over 4,000 people. However, the plant can potentially provide electricity to a city with a population of up to 100,000. The FNPP solved two problems. Firstly, it replaced the retiring capacities of the Bilibino Nuclear Power Plant, which has been operating since 1974, as well as the Chaunskaya Thermal Power Plant, which is more than 70 years old. It also supplies power to the main mining enterprises located in western Chukotka. In September, a 490 km 110 kilovolt power transmission line was put into operation connecting Pevek and Bilibino.

In the upcoming animated film Transformers One, characters such as Optimus Prime, Megatron and Bumblebee are still known as Orion Pax, D-16 and B-127. The exact details and plot of the film are still somewhat unknown beyond this "early days" scope, but Alpha Trion (voiced by Laurence Fishburne) briefly appears in the movie's first trailer.
From the looks of things, Transformers One will be taking inspiration from The Transformers, the animated series that ran from 1984 to 1987.The show offered a detailed origin for Optimus Prime, revealing that he was formerly Orion Pax, a Cybertron storage yard worker involved in a romantic relationship with Ariel (a character who would later become Elita-One).
