About The Travel Agent Next Door

The Travel Agent Next Door is based in Canada with more then 37 staff to support you!! They offer three main programs: 1) Supporting Store Front locations 2) Supporting Independent Contractors 3) Training new agents to become Travel Professionals. Travel agents working with The Travel Agent Next Door can expect to earn between 65% - 100% of the commission. TTAND has a tiered approach to supplier's commissions, a little different than most host agencies. They have 3 supplier levels: Preferred, Approved and all others. For example, when selling Preferred suppliers you will earn at a minimum of 85% - 100% commission and these include suppliers: RCI, Transat, ACV, AC, Celebrity, TravelBrands just to mention a few. Depending on the program and your revenue productivity, there may be no annual fees, which is a savings of $499.. Monthly fees range from $19 to $69/month. Contract terms are 1 year for experienced agents, 2 years for BRAND NEW to TRAVEL AGENTS (Bronze/Silver/Gold)

The Travel Agent Next Door marks a milestone

March 20, 2024

It has been a remarkable 10 years for The Travel Agent Next Door (TTAND) and its founder, Flemming Friisdahl admits to being ‘surprised’ at how the host agency group has grown from its beginnings in March 2014 to March 2024 when it now has 1,350 agents and is tracking on half a billion dollars in sales for this year.

“Yes, I am surprised we have not only the most agents of any host agency in Canada, but also the highest sales,” Friisdahl said. “When we first started, I had hoped for 300 to 400 partner agents, not the numbers we are at now. Imagine, almost half a billion in sales this year – Wow — I am so happy for our agent partners.”

The story of TTAND’s success

In this week’s issue of Canadian Travel Press, Friisdahl talks about what’s made TTAND different; what’s helped its succeed; and what the future holds for the host agency group.

And should you be wondering what’s made TTAND unique, Friisdahl will tell you: “I believe the key has been we do everything based on what our agent partners need. What I mean is, we go through a lot of work to be sure that the suppliers we have are who our agents want, the marketing we have is what they need, the website has the functionality they require.”

He also pointed out that: “I believe it is our job to help sell more of the suppliers’ product, and with 83 per cent of all TTAND agent partner sales with only Preferred and Approved suppliers, we achieve results for our suppliers.”

If you are new to the industry, you may not be aware of some of the terms in our chart or on our site. Here’s a glossary of terms.

The Rising Star: The Rising Star program is comprised of a number of sections. First you have suppliers. With the great buying power of TTAND we have secured some very special deals in the industry. This is what allows us to give the travel agent up to 100% of the at source commission. Depending on how much revenue you sell, you will be placed in a Rising Star category and the more you sell, the more you get to keep of the commission, right up to 100% of it. To do this, you have to support our preferred and approved suppliers. The TTAND commission levels are very competitive and it is sure to maximize your earning potential. You can earn more than you would with other companies.

Profit Share:

TTAND has some very unique benefits that have not been seen elsewhere in the home based sector.  Number one is our “Profit Share” program. This allows all agents no matter their level to earn at the end of the year. If you focus on earning 70% of your commission on our preferred and approved suppliers you are part of the program!! (It’s that easy)

Millionaire Program:

We also offer the “Millionaire Program” which allows the agent to earn additional benefits as you grow. From the day you start with TTAND the clock never stops counting. Every time you hit $125,000 in commission (before the split) then you earn a reward. This may take a year or 5, but all preferred and approved suppliers count towards the target.

Your own website:

We have talked about websites and that it is included for all agents. Keep in mind your website will not place first when someone searches in Google looking to book travel. Expedia and Air Canada will show up as they pay millions to make sure that happens.  The reason a bookable website is SO important is that it allows your customers to research all kinds of products from cruise, to package vacations to hotel to car rentals and purchasing excursions in a destination to travel insurance. If a site does not have this, then your clients have to go elsewhere to search for information and then what is keeping them from booking there?

One of the reasons that marketing is so important is simple, attracting new customer’s generally takes or costs 10 times as much as it does to keep a customer. If you do not market to your customer or “potential customer” then it is very simple, you are out of sight and out of mind. So we take the worry out of it and we do it regularly and we do a lot of targeted marketing. We are also the only company in Canada that INCLUDES in your fees marketing material that goes out to your customers by Canada Post, a guaranteed minimum of 45 pieces.

Social Media Program:

This is a tool that is very cost effective and can be done by you, when you want to.   But how to do it is a different question.   How to you load a PDF on your Facebook? How do you upload a video? How do you put your logo on promotions? Again we have taken the guess work out of this, and within two clicks you can have a promotion on more than 330 social media sites. It is so very easy and effective! Now one important thing, you do not always want to promote a trip, so we also have fun promos to “keep you top of mind”. What about posting a picture of a beautiful beach and simply having a caption saying “How can I help get you there”. Suggestive selling can be a very powerful tool and we have it, and it is included!

New Customers:

How to get a new customer?  We are not happy unless your sales are growing, so we do a lot to help make that happen and yes it is included in your fees! One example is our FREE TRIP GIVE-A-WAY, we always have a contest on the go that our agents can use on their social media sites to drive customers to their site and also can be used to help support events you attend, like a wedding show or consumer event. If you have a sign saying “Would you like to win a trip for two to XXX” then who would not stop and fill out the form?  That allows you to talk to the POTENTIAL new customer and obtain their marketing information. Again no cost to you and it helps grow your business!

Mentor Program:

There is also something else that is very unique to TTAND, you will be supported by a group of people whose ONLY focus is your success.  Our “Mentor Program”  allows you to ask all and any questions that you may have ensuring that you have support from A to Z giving you a better chance to succeed!

A Superior Accounting System:

We also have the best accounting system in the industry (in our opinion). This system gives you the ability to see your sales, see what commission is owed to you now, charge a credit card at 2 am on a Sunday morning if you are charging a customer’s service fees and be able to accept both cash and cheques from customers.

Other services:

We also offer services like toll free lines that can ring on your cell phone or you are able to receive a fax on your PC having your own personal fax number for just $10 per month. A very unique referral program utilizing a friend or business acquaintance. This allows you to put a portion of your earned commission into a pot for a person whose referring a customer to you, again NOBODY else offers this. You also have Errors and Omissions insurance a nd a starter kit including a name badge, business cards, stationery and baggage tags to get you started.

The Perks of being a Travel Agent:

There is no question that being a travel agent has many benefits, this can include everything from receiving free nights at an all-inclusive 5 star resort to getting reduced rates on flights. There are also other benefits from receiving Visa gift cards for every booking you make with a supplier or if you participate in training with a supplier, you can receive a free cruise. Like anything in life, there is a catch and sometimes new agents are not made aware of this at the start. Most suppliers will not take you on a trip for free until you have met certain industry standards. Two such IDs are ACTA and IATA. To be eligible for these ID cards you must have made at least $10,000 in commission and worked in the travel industry for at least 6 months before being eligible to apply. This should not be the only reason you are looking to start a career in travel, this is a benefit of a career in travel.  We are looking for people who want to grow both personally and professionally. We mean it when we say we are not happy unless you are making money. The perks are great, but first you need to prove to the suppliers you have earned those perks, but more importantly you need to show the suppliers that if they give you the perks that you will actively promote and sell their product afterwards.

Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport (SVO)

Address : Sheremetyevo International Airport, Khimki town, Moscow Region, Russia, 141400

Class "A" airport. It is situated in 28 km from Moscow. There are two take- off and landing strips. Handling capacity is 2100 passenger per hour. There are 5 terminals: B, C, D, E, F. Terminal E is located in the northern part of Sheremetyevo Airport and it is mainly servicing business aviation boards, as well twenty two remote counters of Western sector of Terminal B serve the same purpose.

Terminal B is located to the West of Terminal A in the northern part of the airport as well. It is composed of two buildings: the departure hall and the arrivals hall. There is a landing pavilion located not far from the terminal B, which is well known by the name "wineglass" which it obtained thanks to it's unusual shape. There are 86 remote parking places in this terminal of airport. This places are divided: 22 - for business aviation and 5 - for cargo flights. Also 8 of which are used for Aeroflot aircrafts maintenance.

Terminal C is located next to Terminal B and maintains international flight services; there are 30 check- in counters, 36 passport control cabins and automatic three- stage system of luggage inspection. All of the six parking places of the terminal are equipped by telescopic walkways. The terminal is connected with multilevel parking for 1000 cars by the walking gallery.

Terminal D provides services for international airlines, the building is shaped like a swan, protecting passengers by its wings.

Additional terminal for international routes was opened in 2010. Terminal E provides services for international airlines. It has combined Terminal D and F and a unite system called South terminal complex. Complex is connected with the Aeroexpress railway station. All terminals of the complex are connected by walking galleries with travelators, which allow passengers easily move around the whole territory of the complex.

Terminal F includes airport equipped by telescopic walkways, hotel, area of the airport, maintenance platform and several industrial buildings. It is located next to the railway terminal and Terminal E and D. 15 parking places with telescopic walkways work here. Terminals are connected by the free bus travelling regularly between terminals B and E on the road inside the airport.

Infrastrusture

The following services are provided free of charge ate the territory of Sheremetyevo airport: mother- and- child rooms (II floor of the Departures hall in Terminal B), shuttle- bus, connecting South and North terminal, free Wi- Fi access, services for disabled passengers, luggage trolleys, weigh- in baggage and hand luggage. Passengers stay in waiting halls for free, transportation to and from airplanes as well as medical services is also free.

Luggage wrapping points are located: Terminal B - center of the waiting hall, Terminal C - special control zone, left and right wings, terminal D - III floor, center of Departures hall, terminal E - II floor Departures hall, Terminal F - II floor, next to the entrance and inspection points. In addition there are mobile points working 24 hours as well. If the luggage is authorized to be opened it will be packed again free of charge.

As well there are baggage rooms in the airport located in Terminal C, many shops and restaurants, bank offices, post office, tourist agencies and hotels. Orthodox Christians may pray in Resurrection of Christ church (between Terminal F and B), Archangel Mikhail chapel (Terminal C) and Saint Nicolas chapel (located in Terminal F)

Useful information

There is a special protective service which prevents children from getting lost in Sheremetyevo airport. A child gets a special bracelet, which is to help her get back to her parents.

It is recommended to pack the entire luggage by stretch wrap.

For entering Mother- and- Child room a passenger should present the ticket, the passport and the child medical certificate, which can be obtained in the medical services offices in terminal F, D and C.

Detailed instruction on how to get to Sheremetyevo airport

Sheremetyevo airport recommends avoiding trips by Leningradskoe highway due to renovation of emergency part of the road and suggests bypass ways.

The road is narrowed to two ways in both directions. The exit from International trunk- way to Leningradskoe highway is open. The exit from MKAD to Leningradskoe highway is allowed for passenger cars.

Official ways offered by traffic police

1) 87th km of Leningradskoe highway, turn to Moscow large traffic ring road (Leningradsko- Dmitrovskoe direction) with the consequent movement around Dmitrov. After that - move on Dmitrovskoe highway until you reach 74th km from MKAD.

2) If you drive from Moscow district you reach 87th km of Leningradskoe highway, then turn to Moscow large traffic ring road (Leningradsko- Volokolamskoe direction), turn to M- 9 highway "Baltia" and move until you reach MKAD.

3) 49th km Leningradskoe highway, turn to Moscow small traffic ring road (Leningradsko- Dmitrovskoe direction) turn to Dmitrovskoe highway at 47th km and move until you reach MKAD.

 4) If you drive from Moscow it is better to drive on MKAD and then turn to  M- 9 highway "Baltia" or to  Dmitrovskoe highway.
