India's growing prominence in outbound MICE presents a significant opportunity that Dubai aims to leverage. The new recognition program targeting Indian intermediaries will definitely push agencies to promote Dubai as a preferred MICE destination.

Dubai Business Events, part of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and the city’s official convention bureau, on Monday will announce its first-ever recognition program for Indian intermediaries for meetings, incentives, conferences and events business.
The MICE Star Awards program recognizes agents in India and their role in solidifying Dubai’s position as a leading business events destination.
“The award recipients will be selected based on an evaluation process that considers both the volume and value of their business to Dubai’s business events and wider tourism ecosystem,” a statement from Dubai Business Events said.
Dubai’s exhibitions, conferences, seminars, and business events sector grew by 25% last year. Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) attracted 2.47 million participants in 2023.
DWTC noted that the strong performance in 2023 reflects Dubai’s economic growth and its role as an international platform for business and trade. The growth was driven by 301 events, marking a 23% increase compared to 2022.
In addition, Dubai secured 349 bids to host international conferences and meetings facilitated by Dubai Business Events, representing a 49% increase in successful bids from the prior year. These events are expected to bring in over 191,000 international delegates to the city.
A report by Dubai Pulse estimates that the events industry in Dubai was worth $44.7 billion in 2023, with an annual growth rate of 25% projected from 2023 to 2027. The industry currently supports 100,000 jobs in Dubai and is expected to create an additional 10,000 jobs over the next five years.
According to Dubai Business Events, the launch of the program highlights Dubai’s dedication to the Indian MICE market. In 2023, India emerged as the top source country for visitors to Dubai, reflecting the city’s popularity for business events.
Dubai has also introduced a five-year multiple entry visa for Indian travelers . “As a key market for Dubai, India will continue to play an integral role in enabling us to achieve the goals of the D33 Agenda , further reinforcing Dubai’s position as a hub for business, investment and tourism,” said Bader Ali Habib, regional head of proximity markets at Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism.
ResearchAndMarkets.com forecasts that India’s outbound MICE tourism market will reach $13.4 billion by 2031. It said the growth in this sector is driven by economic factors, including government support, improved air connectivity, and increased awareness among businesses and individuals about the benefits of attending international events.
India’s business travel spending is set to reach $38 billion this year, with a projected full recovery to pre-2019 spending levels by 2025, according to the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA).
“Companies prioritize in-person interactions with clients and suppliers to expedite projects. Professionals also embark on business trips to participate in meetings, events, and seminars,” Sunny Sodhi, managing director of FCM Travel India, told Skift earlier.
The pharmaceutical, finance, and manufacturing sectors are key drivers of India’s outbound MICE tourism.

The United States restricts or prohibits the entry of many agricultural products, which can carry foreign pests and diseases that harm American agriculture and our environment. Help us keep American agriculture healthy by following the guidance on this page about products you may want to bring into the United States.
Travelers entering the United States must declare all agricultural or wildlife products to U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials. You must also tell them if you visited a farm or were in contact with animals before traveling to the United States.
U.S. agricultural inspectors will examine your items to be sure they meet entry requirements and do not harbor harmful foreign pests or diseases. U.S. inspectors have the authority to make a final determination about whether your products can enter the country. We recommend that you keep receipts and original packaging of agricultural products as proof of their country of origin.
As long as you declare all of the agricultural products you are bringing with you, you will not face any penalties—even if an inspector determines that they cannot enter the country.

Travelers may not bring back more than 50 pounds of an item. Shipments larger than 50 pounds are considered commercial shipments and must meet additional requirements through USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service. Contact them at (202) 720-9904 or www.fsis.usda.gov .
Cured hams (prosciutto, Serrano ham, Iberian ham) and salami from areas within France, Germany, Italy and Spain may not be brought into the United States by travelers. These items may only enter in commercial shipments because there are special restrictions that require additional certification and documentation.

President Joe Biden is expected to discuss the framework for a new major student loan forgiveness plan on Monday during a trip to Wisconsin, sources familiar with the White House's plans confirm to ABC News.
Biden is scheduled to travel on Monday to Madison, home to a major university and in a crucial battleground state.
A proposed rule that could impact millions of borrowers may be close to being finalized, sources said. The White House would not yet confirm any details.
The latest proposal was first reported by The Wall Street Journal on Friday.
Sources told ABC News that unlike the sweeping student loan forgiveness plan that was struck down by the Supreme Court last year, this new one will require borrowers to fall into specific categories to get relief, such as possible financial hardship or holding debt that because of interest is now bigger than the amount originally borrowed.
That distinction -- a more targeted approach to debt cancellation -- is part of what makes the White House confident in their legal footing this time should a new proposal be challenged as well, sources said.
The Department of Education has been engaged in recent months in public listening sessions with stakeholders -- a move considered best practice and a way to firm up justification and standing for new regulations.
The Supreme Court struck down the Biden administration's initial loan forgiveness plan in June 2023. In a 6-3 decision, the court ruled the Department of Education exceeded its authority when it moved to wipe out more than $400 billion in federal student loan debt.
The program would have forgiven up to $10,000 in debt for borrowers making less than $125,000 a year. Borrowers who took out Pell Grants to pay for college could have had up to $20,000 canceled.
Forty-three million Americans would have qualified for the program, and the Education Department had already approved applications for 16 million borrowers before halting due to legal challenges.
Biden, who made tackling student loan debt a key campaign pledge, said following the ruling that "the fight is not over."

Why are the Bucks struggling on the road? Only Doc Rivers knows.
The Milwaukee Bucks have lost four of their last five games and are clinging to a 1.5-game lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers for the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. On Wednesday nightm they dropped a home game to the Memphis Grizzlies, who started Scotty Pippen Jr. and Trey Jemison. The night before they lost to the Washington Wizards.
It was the loss to the Wizards that had Doc Rivers answering some big questions. Mainly, what the heck is going on with this team on the road? Milwaukee is just 18-20 in away games this season and losing to the Wizards under any circumstances in 2024 is reason enough to do some pondering. But Doc has been doing more than pondering. He's also been observing. Keenly. And he told the press about it following the loss in Washington.
"You know, it's funny," Rivers said . "I've actually been sitting back and watching everything. Not just our players, but our travel crew. Everything. And I've made a lot of notes. I will say that. I won't share that. But we don't bring the necessary professionalism, seriousness on the road. And that's something we can fix. And that's something we're going to have to fix."
Asked a follow-up question, Rivers again mentioned the performance of the travel staff.
"I'm looking at it for the long run too. It's not just for now. We've got to be a better road team. If we're not, we're doing something wrong. As a coaching staff we have to figure out what we need to do different as far as practices and training. As a travel staff, not talking players, we may have to do something different there too. Because something's missing and everybody seems happy, you know? Except for me after a game. So I just think we're doing something wrong and we need to figure that out."
When teams are struggling it's not unusual for the coach to suggest the players or coaches need to make adjustments, but this might be the first time anyone has ever pointed to the "travel staff." Is this about hotel accomodations? Pilots and bus drivers? The way jerseys are laid out in the visitors locker room?
It's unfortunate Rivers said he isn't going to share his notes on the situation because whatever is going on with the travel staff sounds fascinating. Especially since the players are apparently still in a good mood. You would think they would be the ones most affected by these behind-the-scenes issues that are apparently contributing to the losses. Only Doc knows for sure and he currently just sitting back and watching.
