Now, discover the ancient and sacred Uluru in the heart of Australia’s outback in a whole new light – by Segway! Jump on and throw caution to the wind when you cruise around the entire base of Uluru, so close that you’ll spot Aboriginal artwork drawn on Uluru’s caves, fissures and rock formations – this bucket list experience will have a huge tick next to it!

Experience Details

Fitness and experience.

• You must be 12+ to participate in this experience
• Children aged 12-17 must be accompanied by a fully-paying adult
• Minimum weight to ride the Segway is 45kg
• Maximum weight to ride the Segway is 117kg
• To ride a Segway, you must have the fitness, balance and necessary vision required to ride a bike, be able to stand unaided for 3 hours
• It is strongly recommended that those who have serious illnesses and injuries, who have a history of back problems, and pregnant women do not participate in this experience
• The experience provider reserves the right to restrict participants from this experience should the participant fail to meet the requirements

What to Bring/Wear

• You are advised to bring at minimum a 1L water bottle
• Be sun smart – wear sunscreen and a hat

This experience requires minimum numbers to go ahead. Participants will be contacted by the experience provider direct to reschedule if minimum numbers have not been reached. Your tour of Uluru by Segway should last approximately 5 hours. You’ll be picked up an hour before sunrise on the day of your trip. You are required to sign a waiver form before you start your experience. Audio devices are available in the following languages: French, German, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin, and Spanish.

This experience includes transfers to and from the Ayers Rock Resort and Campground. Please organise your transfer with your experience provider. Your transfer will take you the Kuniya Carpark located at Petermann, NT 0872, which is where your experience will begin. You can alternatively plan to make your own way there. 

Please note that riding a Segway is not a mobility activity. Take a look at the restrictions and fitness levels required before you book. If you fail to meet these requirements, the experience provider reserves the right to restrict you from starting or completing the tour.

Uluru tours can be affected by the weather. The experience provider must adhere to the safety rules of the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. The tour must cease when the BOM forecasts a 20% chance of rain within the next 3 hours and can only recommence once the weather forecast improves. If your Uluru Segway experience is cancelled due to the weather, you will be offered a rescheduled date and time, or a credit refund.

Nick and Kyle were wonderful hosts. Very patient and shared much of the local history with us. Would definitely recommend Uluru Segway Tours.

This was the highlight of our stay. Very professionally guided tour Nick was happy to help out with all questions . The light breakfast before the seaway was a great way to meet your fellow companions while watching Uluru come to life as dawn broke. Learning to ride a segway was a breeze thanks to the tuition given by Nick and Damien . Thanks guys I have been raving about the experience since our return from an awesome holiday.

Tegan our tour guide had such passion for the area. Her knowledge and story telling immersed us in the wonder of the rock. She was fabulous!!! Chris the other guide was disinterested and just going through the motion... disappointed 😞.

A must activity in Urulu.

This is something to put on your bucket list... Walk around the country's most recognizable landmark. Without a doubt, one of the most amazing places on the planet. The kids' minds were blown as we walked around the base, haha. Wow. It was an incredible experience to be so close to this landmark and feel its energy. Uluru has such a powerful presence that you should experience it at least once in your lifetime.

If you have the opportunity, you should definitely go to Uluru. It's quite incredible, and nothing quite prepares you for the size of this monolith and its stunning changing colors. We enjoyed the Rock and went on the Base Walk. A must if you really want to get a sense of the place and see the Rock's many changing faces.

I had no idea what to expect. But I was not expecting this. The entire trip was fantastic. And no matter how many photos are taken, Uluru never ceases to amaze. Thank you for making memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

This is unquestionably an experience worth having while visiting Uluru! The walk is simple because the ground is level, and the guide entertained us along the way by telling us intriguing tales and cultural trivia.

• This experience is not suitable for children under 12, pregnant women, individuals with serious health conditions, impaired balance or vision or hip, back or knee injuries
• Riders under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult
• Weight restrictions apply. Participants must weigh between 45kg–117kg to ride a Segway
• Guests must be free of drugs and alcohol to participate
• Participants must wear the provided helmet, elbow and knee pads at all times
• This tour requires a minimum of two participants to run. Bookings of less than two people can be made, however, the tour will not be confirmed unless the minimum number is met
• Tour itinerary and path are subject to track and weather conditions and may be modified for safety reasons. On days when it is raining or after heavy rains, it may not be possible to go the whole way around the base of Uluru. On these occasions, the tour will instead go a quarter of the way around Uluru and spend a little bit more time on foot, exploring caves and waterholes
• Uluru Segway Tours reserves the right to prohibit any participant prior to the start of the tour, during the training session or tour itself from participating in the activity if the participant fails to meet the rider requirements. Additionally, participants may be removed from the activity if they do not follow directions or instructions issued to them by Uluru Segway Tours staff; in these instances, no refund will be given

Embark on a tour of the iconic Uluru in the Northern Territory’s Red Centre with this Sunrise and Segway Guided Tour. Combining two popular elements, Uluru at sunrise and riding a Segway, this is the ultimate sightseeing and adventure experience in Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.

You’ll be picked up from Ayers Rock Resort around an hour before sunrise to begin the 5-hour journey (2 Hours on a segway) around the monolith as the sun rises. The Segway trail stretches out 10 kilometres and along the journey, you’ll be treated to impressive views of Ayers Rock as the sun rises bringing hues of pink and orange along with it. The journey also includes an informative commentary from your guide about the icon, the region and its history. You’ll also visit the Mutitjulu Waterhole, another great photo opportunity during the 5-hour journey.

All guests are asked to wear closed in shoes and sun-safe clothing and bring at least one litre of drinking water, sunscreen and a camera. The tour does not include National Park fees, these are payable on the day.

• Although Uluru Segway Tours will equip tour participants with all of the necessary skills to operate a Segway safely, it is still possible to fall while riding a Segway. Segway’s are designed to balance for you but it is the rider who will be in control of the Segway’s direction and speed, therefore, it is important to ride a Segway with care, to observe any potential hazards and obstacles and to be aware of your surroundings
• The minimum age requirement to ride on our Segway’s is 12 years. For Segway riders between the ages of 12-18 years, we do require a parent or guardian to accompany them on tour
• The weight recommendation for our Segway’s is 45kg – 117kg (100lb – 258lb). Unfortunately, people outside of these weights are unable to participate in our tours
