The Sea the Sky Combo Ticket: what you need to know

What is the sea the sky combo ticket.

The Sea the Sky Combo Ticket is a special ticket package that gives you general admission to the CN Tower and Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada in Toronto.

Do you save money with the CN Tower and Ripley’s Aquarium ticket?

Yes. By purchasing the Sea the Sky combo ticket, you save money on each attraction vs. if you had bought an individual ticket to each of them.

The amount of savings will depend on whether you’re planning to buy an Adult, Youth, Child or Seniors CN tower and Aquarium package. Here’s what you’ll save:

  • Adult (ages 14-64) combo ticket = $7 in savings
  • Youth (ages 6-13) combo ticket = $9 in savings
  • Seniors (ages 65+) combo ticket = $9 in savings
  • Child (ages 3-5) combo ticket = $3.50 in savings

How does the CN Tower and Ripley’s Aquarium Combo Ticket work?

Access to the cn tower.

On the day of your visit, you present your Sea the Sky combo ticket at the CN Tower entrance.

The ticket will be scanned, and you’ll be allowed to enter the tower.

Your ticket is for general admission.

This will give you access to the CN Tower’s main observation level which offers panoramic views of Toronto and the surrounding area.

Access to Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada

Present your CN Tower and Aquarium combo ticket at the aquarium entrance.

Your ticket will be scanned, and you’ll be allowed to enter the facility.

Where can I buy the Sea the Sky Combo Ticket?

You can only purchase this CN Tower and Aquarium ticket online.

How many CN Tower Aquarium tickets can I buy at a time?

You can only purchase a maximum of 8 Sea the Sky Combo Tickets per transaction.

Are the CN Tower and the Aquarium located near each other?

Yes. Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada is conveniently located near the base of the CN Tower which is another reason why the Sea the Sky Combo Ticket makes sense.

The distance between them is only a 5-10 minute walk, making it easy to go from one attraction to another, even for people with young families.

Does it matter which attraction I visit first?

No but it’s a good idea to check the weather forecast for the day you want to purchase your CN Tower and Ripley’s Aquarium combo tickets for.

For example, if the forecast is calling for cloudy conditions or rain in the afternoon on that day, it would be better to have a Sea the Sky Combo Ticket for the CN Tower, that is timed for the morning. That way the sky will be clear so you will enjoy a better view from the top of the tower.

The Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada is entirely indoors so whether it’s sunny or cloudy outside you will have the same viewing experience.

Do I have to visit the CN Tower and the Aquarium on the same day?

The CN Tower and Aquarium ticket gives you the option of visiting both attractions on the same day or on separate days.

Keep in mind though, if you are planning to visit them on separate days, you must do so within 30 days of purchasing your CN Tower and Aquarium package.

Is parking included with my CN Tower Aquarium ticket?

Unfortunately, parking is not included with your purchase of the Sea the Sky Combo Ticket.

Parking is available at both attractions and city parking lots in the area, for an additional cost.

What if I only want to visit Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada?

If you decide that you don’t want to include the CN Tower in your visit to Toronto, there are still several ways to save on admission to the Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada, including visiting in the evening rather than during the daytime.

How Can You Help?

Our actions impact the world around us. Together, we can help preserve our planet for future generations.

Conserve Energy

Small changes can make a big impact on our environment. Share a ride. Turn off the lights. Bike to work. Plant a garden. Think about how everyday actions can save energy now.

Limit Plastics

Cutting down on sing-use plastics protects our natural world. Grab a cloth shopping bag. Pick up some paper straws. Opt for glass or steel containers. Refill soap dispensers from a bulk-sized jug. Try something new to help the planet.

Making sustainable seafood choices protects our oceans and helps make sure we have a healthy food supply into the future. Read the labels. Ask great questions. Shop around. Join our conservation journey. We are a proud supporter and advocate of the Ocean Wise Seafood program. Ocean Wise Seafood is a nonprofit conservation program created to empower consumers and businesses to make informed decisions about sustainable seafood and educate them on responsible aquaculture practices and issues facing the world’s fisheries. Ocean Wise works directly with partners to ensure they have the latest scientific information available regarding their seafood so they can make ocean-friendly buying decisions. The Ocean Wise symbol on menus and packaging enables customers to easily choose products that ensure the health of our oceans for generations to come.

Ripley’s Aquariums is proud to be a member of organizations like the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and the Canadian Association of Zoos and Aquariums (CAZA). Sink Into Some Stories

Land acknowledgement.

Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada acknowledges that we are on the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. We also acknowledge that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Williams Treaties signed with multiple Mississaugas and Chippewa bands.

Today, the city of Toronto, also known as Tkaronto (meaning “the place in the water where the trees are standing”), is home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island, and we are grateful to work on this land.

Woah! The Aquarium sounds like alotl fun! But what are you doing all the way down here with the axolotls – some of the most secretive salamanders in the world?!

Did you know out of more than 800 salamander species that exist, only about 22 can be found in Canada?

CN Tower: Planning Your Visit

The CN Tower in Toronto is one of the tallest towers in the world and Toronto's most popular tourist attraction . With its iconic needle piercing through the clouds like a tower out of the distant future, it is universally recognizable. It even featured on the Drake album Views , with the Canadian rapper illustrated sitting on top of it . Standing at 1,815 feet in Toronto's entertainment district, it is a real marvel. From the top observation deck, the SkyPod, one can see Niagara Falls gushing, tiny and far, far away, on a bright and clear day. Located in downtown Toronto, the CNT Tower is conveniently near other travel attractions, like the Rogers Centre baseball stadium, home of the Blue Jays, Ripley's Aquarium of Canada, Steam Whistle Brewery, and Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

For 32 years, the CN Tower was the tallest free-standing structure in the world, until the Burj Khalifa in Dubai surpassed it. Soon after, several other taller towers have been built, including the Canton Tower in Guangzhou, leaving the CN as the tallest structure in the Western Hemisphere. Even after losing the title of the world’s tallest building, it remained a popular tourist attraction, hosting more than 1.5 million visitors a year. The American Society of Civil Engineers has classified it as one of the "Seven Wonders of the Modern World."

There are certain features and activities you should not miss while at CN Tower. LookOut Level (1,136 feet), features open-air viewing for taking Instagrams and Tiktoks, Informational displays, tower history presentations, and regional maps will excite geography nerds and history buffs. The glass floor level (1,122 feet) is totally surreal. SkyPod (1,465 feet) above the city is one of the highest observation platforms in the world (and comes with an extra cost.) EdgeWalk is the world’s highest full circle hands-free walk on a 5-foot wide ledge encircling the top of the Tower’s main pod, 116 stories (1168 feet) above the ground.

Visiting CN Tower

Best time to visit: As of July 23, 2021, the CN Tower is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The best times of day to dodge the crowds are when it opens in the morning, and after 5 in the evening. Avoid the weekends, too, if you want to skip the lines.

Location: One thing about the CN Tower is that it's not hard to find. Look up and you will see it from almost any place in the city. It is close to the waterfront and not far off the major highways that access Toronto. The CN Tower is located at 301 Front St. West, between the Rogers Centre—Toronto's sports dome—and the Toronto Convention Centre.

Visiting with kids: Admission to CN Tower for children under 3 is free. CN Tower is a bustling place with lots of walking—or waiting in line. Bringing a stroller for younger children is a good idea. Parents can take children in their strollers to all parts of the CN Tower, including the highest observation point—SkyPod—and the fine-dining 360 Restaurant. Change stations and family washrooms are available throughout the CN Tower, too. Another great thing to do with kids in Toronto ? LEGOLAND.

What to Eat and Drink

The CN Tower restaurant, 360 , is more than just a spectacular view. The recipient of several culinary awards, 360 also features a wine list of more than 550 international and Canadian wines. Diners at 360 do not pay regular admission price and get preferential elevator service to the restaurant more than 1,150 ft. above. Horizons is the less formal dining establishment on the Look Out level of the CN Tower. Nevertheless, it's a lot better quality than you'd expect for a tourist attraction restaurant. Far from cafeteria dining, Horizons has all window seating on the Look Out of the CN Tower and a sizeable menu including appetizers and full entrées such as quesadillas, panini, salads, chicken, and a selection of beers and wine. Marketplace is a fully licensed family eating area on the ground level with fast food and snacks. A kiosk on the Look Out level offers sandwiches, drinks, ice cream, and other snacks.

Getting There

Despite being a hard-to-miss landmark, the actual entrance to the CN Tower can be a little confusing.

By foot: At the foot of John St. on the south side of Front St. is a set of stairs that takes you to the entrance of the CN Tower. To the right of those stairs is a wide ramp that leads to both the Rogers Centre and the CN Tower entrance.

Wheelchair access: For those who need wheelchair access, halfway up the ramp on the left are glass doors that lead to an elevator that takes you down to the CN Tower entrance. These doors are not well marked, so keep your eyes peeled.

By subway: Get off at Union Station, exit at Front St., and head west, (turn left). Just look up, and you'll see it.

By car: If coming from the South or West (Buffalo, Hamilton, Oakville), follow the QEW into Toronto, where it turns into the Gardiner Expressway. Exit onto Spadina Avenue North and turn right onto Bremner Boulevard.

If coming from the East (Montreal, Kingston, Ottawa), take Highway 401 into Toronto and exit onto the Don Valley Parkway Southbound. As you approach Downtown, this will turn into the Gardiner Expressway. Exit at Spadina Avenue North and turn right onto Bremner Boulevard.

If coming from the North (Muskoka, Barrie), take Highway 400 into Toronto, exiting onto Highway 401 West. Continue until you reach Highway 427 southbound. Follow Highway 427 to downtown via the QEW/Gardiner Expressway. Exit onto Spadina Avenue North and turn right onto Bremner Boulevard.

Parking in downtown Toronto, like in most big cities, is frustrating and expensive. That said, public parking lots are well-marked and plentiful around the CN Tower. If you're willing to walk 10 mins, you'll find parking prices drop significantly west of Spadina.

What you get with Toronto CityPASS®

One of the most recognizable pieces of architecture in the Toronto Skyline, the CN Tower is an engineering marvel that for decades reigned supreme as the tallest tower in the world and is still the tallest freestanding structure in the western hemisphere.

The 360 Restaurant at the top rotates 351 m in the sky. There are also several other attractions where you can test your fear of heights, though some of them may have an extra admission fee.

For real thrill-seekers, the CN Tower also boasts EdgeWalk , an attraction between the Lookout Level and the SkyPod. Visitors can strap into safety harnesses and walk without railings on an outdoor platform 356 m above the earth.

Royal Ontario Museum (ROM)

Canada’s premier natural history and international culture museum has over 13 million artifacts and works of art in its collection, with a little something for everyone.

From exhibits on textiles and fashion to massive dinosaur skeletons to Chinese architecture to Indigenous art and even a special kids learning zone, the  ROM  takes you around the world and across time.

Talk about lifestyles of the rich and famous—the grand Casa Loma was originally built in 1914 by financier Sir Henry Pellatt not just as a private home but as the most palatial residence in North America.

Just ten years later, however, Pellatt lost his fortune and Canada's Gilded Age castle. It spent a few years during the Roaring Twenties as a luxe hotel before opening to the public as a tourist attraction in 1937. Today millions of visitors tour its Gothic Revival halls and conservatories, as well as exhibits on various topics from antique cars to the Girl Guides scout group.

Indulge in the finest service, fresh air and the captivating ambiance of Toronto's waterfront, whether you seek a delightful dinner, brunch or a refreshing drink. A family favourite for almost 50 years, the Toronto Zoo fits a wild 5,000 critters from 500 different species into a gorgeous 283-hectare facility in Rouge Park designed to recreate seven different ecosystems.

Focused on conserving vulnerable and endangered species from around the world, the Toronto Zoo has seen successful births of animals from Komodo Dragons to Sumatran tigers, snow leopards to giant pandas. One of the most popular exhibits is the African Rainforest, home to a troop of gorillas, hippos, zebras, and African penguins.

The Ontario Science Centre is the other option for CityPASS® holders who don't choose the Toronto Zoo for their fifth attraction. It's also a fun place for all ages to learn about various scientific subjects, from Ice Age megafauna to outer space, from IMAX movies to the planetarium.  There are places to learn indoors and out, including the Cohon Family Nature Escape, which allows visitors to explore Toronto's fascinating ravine system in an educational, playground-like setting.

Visiting the CN Tower in Toronto, Ontario

Visit one of Toronto’s most iconic landmarks for a bird’s eye view of the city (and beyond)!

cn-tower-toronto-29

The CN Tower is one of Toronto’s most iconic landmarks and a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Canada’s largest city. Standing at a staggering height of 553 meters, the CN Tower is the tallest freestanding structure in the Western Hemisphere (it was the tallest in the world when it was built!) and continues to be a marvel of engineering and design. Whether you go for coffee and a bird’s eye view, brave the EdgeWalk and hang off the edge, or enjoy fine dining at 360 Restaurant , your visit to CN Tower promises to be memorable.

Partnership Disclosure: The CN Tower generously hosted me and my family for review purposes, and Destination Toronto assisted us with trip planning, but all words and opinions are my own.

Going Up: The High Speed Elevator

visit cn tower and aquarium

Our CN Tower experience begins with a ride on a high speed glass-fronted elevator, with an emphasis on speed. Within 58 seconds, we will go 114 stories (346 m /1136 ft) from ground level to the CN Tower’s Main Observation Level. Before I can do the math, the elevator attendant tells us we’re traveling at 22 km/hr (15 mi/hr)! Buildings, vehicles, and pedestrians get smaller and smaller by the second as our view of the city gets bigger and bigger.

CN Tower’s Main Observation Level

visit cn tower and aquarium

At the Main Observation Level, we are greeted by floor-to-ceiling windows offering breathtaking views of Toronto and Lake Ontario. Tourists take selfies and panoramic shots; while others line up for the SkyPod, to go even higher. We peer down at Yonge-Dundas Square, Fairmont Royal York Hotel, and the harbour, and watch clouds blow by, then head to VUE Bistro for coffee and cakes (they have poutine and craft beer too!). While you could walk the whole observation level in a few minutes, we recommend staying a while to enjoy the view, learn more about the CN Tower , and visit its elevated attractions.

Here are the top 5 things to do at the Main Observation Level ( $ indicates extra charge) :

visit cn tower and aquarium

1. Enjoy the Views : See Toronto from new heights! The Main Observation Level offers 360-degree views of the city from 342 meters (1,122 feet) high. Get epic high altitude photos and timelapse videos (super cool for capturing moving traffic, boats, and clouds), and don’t forget to snap a selfie so you remember this special outing! Tip: Download the free CN Tower Viewfinder app to learn about landmarks you can see from the Main Observation Level. 2. Stand suspended over the city on the Glass Floor: Walk on the glass floor for a thrilling and adrenaline-inducing perspective of the city from 342 meters (1,122 feet) high. (Note: the Glass Floor and Terrace Level are temporarily closed for renovations.) 3. Go Up to the Skypod ($): Ride the glass-fronted elevators to the Skypod, which is 33 stories above the Main Observation Level and 447 meters (1,465 feet) above the city, for even more stunning views of Toronto and beyond. Feel the tower sway up to 0.46 m (1.5 ft) in the wind and learn how it was built to withstand high winds and lightning.  4. Dine at VUE Bistro or 360 Restaurant ($) : Enjoy fine dining with a view at the award-winning 360 Restaurant, named so because it revolves 360 degrees every 72 minutes, providing ever-changing views of Toronto while you dine. Reservations recommended. For coffee and casual fare, visit VUE Bistro. 5. Brave the EdgeWalk ($): For a once-in-a-lifetime experience, try the EdgeWalk, where you’ll walk around the outside of the tower’s main pod, harnessed to an overhead rail system, while enjoying panoramic views of Toronto. A tower tour, plus photos and video of your EdgeWalk experience are included. Participants must be 13 & over and weigh between 34-140.6 kg / 75-310 pounds.

Bonus : Learn about the CN Tower’s design and history by reading the signage at the Main Observation Level, Skypod, and base. Discover the engineering and architectural feats that made the tower possible.

After a speedy elevator ride down (saving you 1,776 steps), browse the gift shop and pick up unique souvenirs of your visit to the CN Tower and Toronto. Next, take the kids to the CN Tower KidZone (beside the gift shop) to play while you figure out where to go next. Hopefully the sky-high view of the city gave you some ideas!

If you missed the exhibits before going up, this is your last chance to see them. Discover the fascinating history of the CN Tower, and learn about its construction, engineering, and architectural feats that made it possible.

Grab a beverage from Le Café before you go, and if it’s dark, check out the lights on the CN Tower. Each night, the tower is illuminated with various colours to commemorate different holidays, events, and charitable causes.

Get Tickets / Know Before You Go

If you’re planning to visit the CN Tower in Toronto, there are a few things you should know before you go:

1. Tickets: We recommend purchasing timed tickets online in advance to save time when you arrive. Get CN Tower tickets at CN Tower | Plan Your Visit | Tickets . 2. How to Save on Regular Admission :

  • The Toronto CityPASS gives you 40% off admission to five top Toronto attractions including the CN Tower. The pass is good for 9 days.
  • Sea the Sky Ticket saves you 15% on admission to Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada and the CN Tower. Your ticket gives you one entry to each attraction within 30 days of purchase, and you do not need to visit them both on the same day (though you can easily do both in one day as they are side by side).
  • Show your same day Blue Jays ticket to get 15% off regular admission: not valid in July and August.
  • Get free admission to the Main Observation Level when you dine at 360 Restaurant and spend a minimum of $75/person.
  • Note: There are additional fees for the SkyPod and EdgeWalk .

3. Hours of Operation : The CN Tower is open every day of the year, including holidays. In general, the tower is open from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM during the summer months, and from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM during the winter months. Check the CN Tower hours of operation before you go as there are occasional closures for special events. 4. When to go : First thing in the morning and close to closing time tend to be quieter times to visit. It’s hard to say whether visiting during the day or night is better; they’re both beautiful and completely different experiences!  5. How long does it take to visit the CN Tower? Allow about 1.5 hours to visit the Main Observation Deck and VUE Bistro or SkyPod (2+ hours if you’re dining at 360 Restaurant). 6. Photography : Cameras, phones, and tablets are permitted on the Main Observation Level, but not on Edgewalk (because if you dropped anything, you’d hurt people below). I recommend leaving the tripod at home as it’s quite busy and you wouldn’t want your camera to get knocked over. 7. Accessibility : The CN Tower observation deck and restaurants are fully accessible for visitors with disabilities. Wheelchairs are available to rent on a first-come, first-served basis, and service animals are welcome. Strollers are also permitted on the elevators, Main Observation Level, and SkyPod. 8. Security : All guests must go through a security screening to enter the CN Tower. Bags, purses and knapsacks must be smaller than 53 x 23 x 38 cm and will be inspected. You are permitted to bring snacks and a water bottle. For more information on what you can and can’t bring, visit CN Tower / Common Questions / Security .

We enjoyed staying at this clean, quiet hostel in a 3-person private room with ensuite and TV. The hostel is conveniently located across the street from a No Frills grocery store, Rexall Drug Store, and 24-hour McDonald’s. Canada: How to visit the giant CN Tower in Toronto

Last updated: 09/14/2023

Check out all the tips for visiting the CN Tower, the tower over 550 meters high that is a postcard for Toronto, Canada's largest city.

Built between 1973 and 1976, in steel and concrete, the CN Tower is a telecommunications and observation tower that also houses a revolving restaurant. The tower has 553.33 meters to the top of its antenna (457.2 meters to the roof), equivalent to a 147-story building. For 32 years, it was considered the tallest structure in the world, when it was surpassed by the Burj Khalifa , the tallest building in the world located in Dubai , which we also had the pleasure of meeting. Currently, Toronto's main postcard is the third tallest tower in the world (behind the Tokyo Skytree, in Japan, with 634 meters and the Canton Tower, in China, with 595.7 meters, built in 2012 and 2010, respectively).

The tower has 11 elevators, which take visitors from the ground floor to the main observation deck in 58 seconds, at 22 km/h, and also has 1,776 steps. Inside the concrete tower are hundreds of bundles of steel cables that are tightened to create a strong, flexible “skeleton.”

THE STORY BEHIND THE TOWER’S NAME

The name of the tower is a reference to the Canadian National Railway , the railway company responsible for its construction. The idea to erect the tower came from the need to solve recurring communication problems that arose after the construction of skyscrapers in downtown Toronto, while also showcasing the power of Canadian industry. However, the company was privatized in 1995 and the new administration ended up transferring ownership to Canada Lands Company , another Canadian government company. So that the name of the tower would not be changed, as it was well known, the tower was renamed Canada's National Tower , maintaining the name CN Tower.

MAIN AREAS OF CN TOWER

The CN Tower is made up of several areas. To climb the tower, you must go through security, who inspects each bag and uses a metal detector to identify the presence of prohibited items (weapons of any type, drugs, paint, skateboards, costumes, flags and banners, etc.). Next, check out the main highlights of the CN Tower.

>> CN TOWER BASE

The base of the CN Tower houses the Le Café and a children's area known as KidZone , with video game consoles with games for the whole family. Next door is the Gift Shop , which features works by indigenous artists, articles produced by local designers and miscellaneous items with the CN Tower logo.

>> TERRACE LEVEL

On the Terrace Level there is an area with a glass floor, where it is possible to feel like you are floating while walking beneath the city at 342 meters high. The glass floor can support the weight of more than 3 orca whales. This structure is undergoing a renovation project and is closed to visitors.

Canada: How to visit the giant CN Tower in Toronto

>> MAIN OBSERVATION LEVEL

The main observation level is 346 meters high. Its thick glass walls allow visitors to have panoramic views of the city of Toronto, allowing photos of the surroundings through thermochromic technology that adjusts sunlight. An interesting fact is that there is a “time capsule” in this place that is scheduled to be opened in 2076, on the tower’s 100th anniversary.

>> 360 RESTAURANT

It is a revolving restaurant that houses the highest wine cellar in the world, completing a rotation every 72 minutes. While tasting a variety of Canadian cuisine, visitors can see Toronto from all angles.

>> EDGEWALK

Opened in 2011, 116 stories high, is a walkable structure on the outer edge of the CN Tower for an exhilarating experience. The Guinness Book of Records recognizes EdgeWalk as the highest walking location in a building.

Canada: How to visit the giant CN Tower in Toronto

>> SKYPOD

This is the highest observation platform in the Western Hemisphere. It is 33 stories higher than the main observation platform and 447 meters above ground level. The antenna at the top is bigger than a football field and lights up about 75 times a year. On a sunny day, you can see up to 100 miles away, including Niagara Falls and the state of New York in the USA.

TYPES OF TICKET TO TOUR CN TOWER

The CN Tower offers some ways to get to know its structure. Tickets are timed and can be purchased up to 30 days in advance of the day of the visit. Below, check out the available options.

  • TIMED GENERAL ADMISSION : This is the standard but common ticket to visit the CN Tower, at LookOut Level at 346 meters high. Includes a timed visit to the main observatory level with views of the city of Toronto and Lake Ontario. Furthermore, it is possible to access the Outdoor Terrace Level, an external terrace with a glass floor (passing renovation ).
  • SKYPOD + TIMED GENERAL ADMISSION :  In addition to visiting the main level of the observatory, climb 33 floors to have a visit, on the same day, to SkyPod, the highest observation platform in the Western Hemisphere at 447 meters high. It is recommended to schedule your SkyPod appointment 60 minutes after Timed General Admission.
  • SEA THE SKY :  This discounted ticket includes a visit to the CN Tower (general admission) and also to Ripley's Aquarium of Canada, which is nearby.
  • PREMIER : VIP visit to the CN Tower, with priority access to elevators and observation decks, including the SkyPod. There is also a 15% discount for purchases at the shop located in the CN Tower.
  • EDGEWALK :  For lovers of a good adventure, after climbing 116 floors, take the opportunity to walk, without holding on, on a 1.5 meter wide circular platform that surrounds the central area of the tower at 356 meters high!

OUR EXPERIENCE AT CN TOWER

We bought tickets online to visit the CN Tower at 3pm on a beautiful sunny day. I had checked the weather forecast a few days before to make sure the weather would be good at the time of our visit. We always buy online to avoid wasting time in queues to visit attractions. We ended up finishing some other tours early and arrived at the tower an hour ahead of schedule. We tried to get in line, but one of the employees told us to only come back at 2:45 pm, closer to our ticket time. We took the opportunity to walk around the surroundings and take photos to kill time.

Canada: How to visit the giant CN Tower in Toronto

At 2:45 pm sharp we showed the ticket to an employee who allowed us entry. Until that moment we believed that the queue was for security, as you have to go through the metal detector to access the tower. But unfortunately, that was just the initial queue. Most of the queue was inside the tower and it was really huge! I have to confess that I was very frustrated with that situation. We queued for exactly 1 hour to take the elevator to go up to the tower!

Canada: How to visit the giant CN Tower in Toronto

When we got there, almost 4pm, the weather had closed in and the sky was completely cloudy, which really affected our vision. Furthermore, I found everything very disorganized. On the main floor of the observatory, they placed a cafeteria whose tables were glued to the windows, making it difficult to see the most beautiful area for photos. I don't know who had this “brilliant” idea of obstructing the view and keeping people standing in the place where they should be passing by. A snack bar located on another floor would make a lot more sense, wouldn’t it?

Canada: How to visit the giant CN Tower in Toronto

Paulo was super calm after all that waiting, but I was very upset due to the waiting time, the suddenly cloudy sky and the crowded place with poor views. I think the expectation of visiting the place, all the planning over many weeks, ended in frustration and ruined our experience.

Canada: How to visit the giant CN Tower in Toronto

I know that everyone has a different experience and we cannot generalize. But, I'm not going to lie that I consider it the least interesting experience we've ever had in observation towers. As soon as we arrived, I was already wanting to leave. If you want to visit the attraction, my tip is to buy the VIP ticket, which has priority entry, so you don't waste so much time in line and don't run the risk of having a frustrating experience.

WHERE TO EAT AT CN TOWER

In addition to a revolving restaurant, the CN Tower has other spaces for coffee or quick meals. Then check the options offered on site.

Located at the top of the CN Tower, 360 Restaurant offers panoramic visits of the city through a rotating structure that makes a complete rotation every 72 minutes. The restaurant serves dishes prepared with fresh and sustainable ingredients from regional Canadian cuisine, including many wine options. There is a minimum consumption of CAD$75 per person. It is recommended to do reservation in advance to guarantee a good table. Spending at the restaurant guarantees a visit to the observatory at no additional cost.

>> VUE BISTROS

Located on the main level of the observation tower, VUE Bistros offers some examples of classic Canadian cuisine, such as poutine, as well as drinks and beers. The establishment is open daily from 10am to 9pm.

Canada: How to visit the giant CN Tower in Toronto

>> LE CAFÉ

Located on the Ground Floor of the CN Tower, Le Café serves a variety of coffees, teas, pastries, and quick meals (pizzas, sandwiches, salads). The cafe is open daily from 11am to 6pm.

HOW TO GET TO CN TOWER

The CN Tower is located in downtown Toronto, between the Rogers Center stadium and Ripley's Aquarium of Canada. Entrance is via Bremner Boulevard (south side of the CN Tower). Regardless of the means of transport used, the closest disembarkation area is probably the Union Station , Toronto's main station. From there, the CN Tower is located a short walk along Bremner Boulevard. Another option is via the PATH Skywalk, a closed walkway of approximately 160 meters that connects Union Station to the CN Tower.

Canada: How to visit the giant CN Tower in Toronto

We advise you to use the Google Maps , O TTC Trip Planner , or the Metrolinx for more information on the best way to get to the tower depending on where you are. For those who have a car in the city, there are many parking lots paid for cars in the surrounding area. The closest are the Metro Toronto Convention Center south parking lot (enter on Lower Simcoe Street from Bremner Boulevard or Lake Shore Boulevard) and the Impark parking lot at Navy Wharf Court (along the west side of the Rogers Center north of Bremner Boulevard).

A CN Tower employee smiling while giving a ticket to a visitor

Canada’s National Tower is not only the tallest building in Canada, but also the entire Western Hemisphere! It measures more than half a kilometre (one-third of a mile) tall from its base to the top of the antenna—553.33 metres, or 1815.5 feet. Want to learn more? Explore the Tower

The CN Tower is open year-round. While our busiest months are in the summer, the changing weather conditions of the seasons can create a dramatically different experience, whether it’s the tops of Toronto’s skyscrapers poking through the clouds on a foggy day in the spring or the perfect crispness of a winter afternoon.

The time of day matters, too. Sunset and evening visits can make it feel like the city has lit up just for you, while mornings and afternoons can show off the full breadth and beauty of Toronto and Lake Ontario. No matter when you choose to visit, though, we always recommend that you buy your tickets ahead of time.

The best way to buy tickets is through our website , which will ensure that the date and time you wish to visit is available. Tickets can be purchased up to thirty (30) days in advance, and you can purchase up to a maximum of eight (8) tickets at a time—and children aged two (2) years and younger receive complimentary admission!

You can also buy tickets onsite at our self-serve kiosks or in person at the CN Tower admissions entrance. For existing tickets or vouchers that do not yet have a reservation time, please exchange them in person for a timed ticket. Entry times are subject to availability.

Do not buy tickets from any other source other than the CN Tower or our verified partners, Ripley’s Aquarium and Toronto CityPASS, as the ticket may not be valid for admission. We reserve the right to deny admission in any instance where we cannot verify the origin of the ticket.

All ticket prices are in Canadian dollars and do not include applicable taxes unless stated otherwise; all prices are subject to change without notice. Tickets and gift cards/certificates are non-refundable, cannot be sold, and will not be replaced if expired, destroyed, lost or stolen.

All ticket sales are final; tickets are non-refundable, cannot be exchanged, and cannot be re-printed onsite. All ticket sales are subject to any public health measures taken by CN Tower to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, which measures may change over time.

All tickets to the CN Tower are now timed—that means that they are valid only from the specific time and date on your ticket until the end of that day. Once you’re up on the Main Observation Level, you can stay as long as you like. Please note that each ticket is only valid for one trip up the elevator to the Main Observation Level and back.

Admission to SkyPod can be added to your Timed General Admission Ticket, either at the time of purchase online or from our kiosk on the Main Observation Level.

In general, we recommend you set aside two hours to get the full Tower experience.

Our prix fixe dining options at 360 Restaurant include complimentary access to our Main Observation Level after your meal, so you don’t need to buy a ticket.

Note: Cancelling a reservation with less than 24 hours’ notice will result in a $30 per person charge being applied to the credit card used at the time of booking. 360 guests must spend a minimum of $75 on food per person (minimum spend is $40 for children 4 to 12) which includes elevation to the restaurant and access to the CN Tower's Main Observation Level following your meal.

SkyPod is the highest observation platform in the Western Hemisphere and a full 33 storeys higher than the Main Observation Level—it is the highest you can get in the city without being in an aircraft.

While we don’t offer guided tours, there are plenty of CN Tower staff members on each level who can assist you with any questions you may have. We also recommend that you download our free Viewfinder app , which provides information on dozens of buildings and other points of interest in the Toronto skyline visible from the Main Observation Level.

What would a trip to the CN Tower be without photos? We encourage you to bring your cameras, phones and tablets with you when you visit. Tripods are allowed, as long as you don’t disrupt the experiences of other guests.

We’re also proud to partner with  Digital Attractions to provide professional photos of your visit to the Tower—you’ll find Digital Attractions by the elevators on the ground floor, where they can take your photo before you board.

We ask that all guests limit the number and size of items that they bring to the Tower—especially so as part of our COVID-19 precautions. Bags, purses and knapsacks smaller than 53 x 23 x 38 cm are welcome inside the building, but we do not have lockers on site, and larger bags (including luggage) are not permitted. CN Tower staff will inspect your bags, so travelling lightly will also ensure a quicker entry.

Our Security team inspects every bag and uses a metal detector to scan for prohibited items, which to ensure the safety of all of our guests, will be confiscated and not returned. See the full list of prohibited items here . We also randomly screen for explosives, and we keep the premises under video surveillance at all times. Our walk-through metal detectors are compliant with applicable electromagnetic standards on human exposure and pacemaker safety.  All CN Tower employees are trained in health and life safety, including evacuation procedures. In the event of an emergency, please follow instructions delivered over the public address system, or from uniformed employees and security personnel. Guests, contractors and visitors are expected to adhere to the Customer Code of Conduct . Failure to do so will result in immediate removal from the premises. Ticket holders may also be removed at any time, with the purchase price of their ticket refunded. For those found breaking any law, regulation or venue policy, we also reserve the right to remove them without compensation.

While outside food and non-alcoholic beverages are allowed, we encourage you to visit our on-site dining venues, including 360 The Restaurant at the CN Tower, the Vue Bistros and Le Café, to take in a meal or a snack while you’re taking in the view.

We always welcome certified service animals, but pets of any kind should be left at home.

We offer special rates for groups of 20 or more guests. Every group must be registered in advance. Contact our group sales team for more information.

Per provincial law, smoking or vaping of any kind is not permitted in any area of the building, and not within 9 metres (30 feet) of our entrance or exit. Guests who choose to smoke outside the CN Tower are asked to take care to extinguish their cigarettes using appropriate receptacles.

The CN Tower holds 2 annual fundraising stair climbs each year, one in the spring for the World Wildlife Federation and one in the autumn for the United Way .   Unfortunately, we cannot commit to hosting any additional climbs outside of these two longstanding events.

The dress code at 360 ranges from smart casual to formal. Some guests choose to dine with us during a visit to the Tower and are dressed more casually while many others are celebrating special milestones and are more dressed up.

We’ll meet you at EdgeWalk base camp on the ground level to give you a full orientation before we ascend to the Summit Room, two storeys above the Main Observation Level. There, we’ll strap your harness onto the rail and you’ll be on your way. Starting at the south side of the Tower above 360 Restaurant, you will follow your guide around the circumference of the building before returning. The whole experience takes about 90 minutes from start to finish, with 30 minutes spent on the EdgeWalk.

Once you’ve completed your Walk, you’ll also receive a certificate of achievement, video, two (2) printed photographs of your Walk and a ticket to visit the rest of the Tower, including SkyPod!

We’ll provide you with a Walk suit to be worn over top of your clothing. Depending on the weather, we’ll also provide hats, gloves and jackets, but you’ll want to dress appropriately for the conditions.

We also ask that you wear running shoes or similarly enclosed, lace-up footwear. If you didn’t bring a pair with you, we can provide you some to use during your EdgeWalk.

Just yourself, your clothes and your eyewear. We’ll provide a lanyard for eyeglasses and sunglasses, but all other items—wallets, keys, phones, removable jewelry—must be left inside the Tower in one of our available lockers. Any essential medications must be taken before or after experiencing EdgeWalk.

Our EdgeWalk guides are equipped with cameras, and all Walkers receive a complimentary video and two (2) printed photos of their experience. Personal recording devices of any kind are not permitted during the EdgeWalk.

EdgeWalk tickets are valid for a specific time and date. While they are not refundable, changes to the date and/or time of the reservation are permitted to be made 72 hours or more in advance of your Walk, subject to availability.

Safety is incorporated into every aspect of EdgeWalk’s design and operation. EdgeWalk staff are trained to secure your harness properly, and we regularly perform safety reviews and maintenance to ensure that we not only meet all applicable standards but exceed them. We also will not conduct EdgeWalks during electrical storms, dangerously high winds or other extreme weather conditions.

We want to make the thrill of EdgeWalk available to as many people as possible. That’s why we offer a specially designed one-piece wheelchair, which allows participants who meet our criteria the opportunity to participate. The existing safety equipment harness and overhead trolley system are exactly the same—we have adapted the Walk suit for easier dressing, and the wheelchair has its own attachment to the overhead trolley.

Accessible EdgeWalk experiences will be available daily and must be booked by telephone. Please call 416 601 3833 to discuss your specific needs and arrangements.
