Saudi Arabia expands e-visa entry permit to 3 more countries

The e-visa permits multiple entries for a year with 90-day stays

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has broadened its electronic visa (e-visa) accessibility to include citizens from Barbados, the Bahamas, and Grenada.

As per reports from the Saudi Press Agency , citizens are now able to apply online or upon arrival, with the list of eligible countries extended to 66.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the Ministries of Interior and Tourism, announced that nationals from these three countries can acquire a visitor visa electronically or upon arrival at any of the Kingdom's international ports.

This initiative comes within Saudi Arabia’s efforts to provide an unforgettable tourist experience for visitors coming from various parts of the world.

The initiative aligns with the Ministry of Tourism's strategy to enhance global connectivity, stimulate economic diversification, and achieve Vision 2030's tourism goals, including a 10 per cent+ GDP contribution from tourism and creating one million jobs.

Tourist visa extended 

In addition to these new countries, the tourist visa extends to residents of the US, UK, EU, and holders of visit visas from these regions.

Residents of GCC countries are also eligible, allowing for tourism, Umrah pilgrimage, visiting family, and attending events.

Furthermore, transit visas for Saudia and flynas airlines permit a 96-hour stay.

The Ministry introduced the visit visa in September 2019 to showcase Saudi Arabia's tourism offerings and promote cultural experiences.

The e-visa system will expand to include more countries as the Kingdom's tourism sector grows.

Bahamas, Barbados, Canada, Grenada, Panama, Saint Kitts and Nevis, United States

Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Netherlands, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Kingdom

GCC's unified visa to be rolled out soon: Here's what you should know

Dubai: In a significant move to make travelling to the GCC countries simple and hassle-free, a unified visa system that allows the visa holder to stay up to 30 days in these countries, is likely to be launched by the end of this year. The GCC council has permitted to proceed with the unified visa that enables the visitor to enter the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Oman. Currently, separate visas are required to visit each country. The tourism ministers of the GCC countries hoped that the unified visa system would provide an impetus to the tourism sector of the region.

The ministerial-level seminar that was conducted as part of the Arabian Travel Market opined that creating a corridor by linking the major tourist attractions in the Gulf countries would pave the way for healthy competition and cooperation. This would then enable the GCC countries to highlight their incredible tourism potential to the world. The ministers said that the unified visa system would be a significant milestone in initiating developmental activities based on tourism. The meeting was of the opinion that a common visa would be helpful in projecting the Gulf countries as fabulous tourist destinations that are interconnected. Moreover, the GCC countries would be turned into a single tourism unit when the GCC railways too get materialised. Besides, the unified visa system could attract more investment to the airports and cruise terminals in the GCC countries.

Features of the visa The new visa will make travel in the GCC area more affordable and convenient for tourists. It will also improve and increase the activities offered to tourists. At the same time, unlike the Schengen visa, the GCC visa is meant for travellers who have a diverse business portfolio. The visa will also be beneficial to those travelling to the Gulf for Haj and Umra as well as those on short trips. In the first stage, the aim is to maximise cooperation between the GCC countries, which will facilitate the exchange of skilled labour in the second stage. The proposed rail link connecting the Gulf countries also necessitates the implementation of the unified visa regime.

• It is required to pay 300 SAR fees plus the cost of health insurance.

It is worth mentioning that when it comes to the Saudi visa from Dubai, individuals must know if they need it or not.

So, nationals from GCC countries, such as Kuwait , the UAE, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar do not need a visa for visiting Saudi Arabia.

Similarly, residents from the UAE that hold certain nationalities do not have to apply for a KSA visa for UAE residents. They can enter the Kingdom by using just their Emirates ID.

So, you can apply for a Saudi tourist visa for UAE residents if you comply with the following conditions:

• Have an occupation that is listed on the list of approved occupations.
• The residency document must have a validity of at least 3 months.
• The passport must have a validity of a minimum of 6 months.
• Children under the age of 18 need an application from a parent.
• If a family is applying, it is required to submit a complete separate visa application for each one.

If the individual complies with the criteria, then he or she needs the following for the application for the Saudi multiple entry visa for UAE residents:

• Original passport.
• Valid UAE residence permit.
• Recent passport-style photograph.
• Email address.
• Credit or debit card for paying the fees.
• Mandatory medical insurance policy.

• Enter the Visit Saudi website. It is the official tourism website of KSA.
• Click on “Apply for eVisa” located at the top right.
• Under “What’s your nationality” search for your nationality.
• Another option will be displayed on the right. If you are a UAE Resident, click on “I am a GCC Resident.”
• You will see two options. Click on “Apply Now” under the eVisa option.
• You will be redirected to another page, the MOFA Official Visa Platform.
• Here you have to log in either using your national single sign-on or your unified national visa platform account.
• After having logged in, you have to fill out the application form.
• Upload the required documentation and submit.

After that, you need to wait for the approval. If your application gets approved, you will receive your Saudi eVisa by email.

4.1 What information do you need to provide for the Saudi eVisa

Since you have to complete an online form, you have to provide your personal information so your application gets approved.

Some of the details you have to submit are the following:

• Country of birth.
• Citizenship.
• Passport information: number, issue date, type, expiry date.
• Residential address.
• Occupation.
• Marital status.
• City of address.
• Country of address.
• Travel details: intended date of entry, traveller’s accommodation in KSA.

Also, UAE residents have to provide answers to security questions before submission.

So, once you have provided all the necessary, it is advisable to double-check the data entered. This is to avoid making any mistakes and thus having your application rejected.

Keep in mind that even small errors can cause problems when it comes to processing your application.

Lastly, make sure to submit your application for a Saudi eVisa at least 3 working days before your travel. This way you can ensure you get your document in advance. And, the eVisa does not process applications on weekends or public holidays.

5. How much does the Saudi visa for UAE residents cost?

Considering the Saudi visit visa from UAE price is very important for your budget, in case you would like to travel.

So, you have to consider the following expenses regarding the Saudi tourist visa from Dubai:

• eVisa Price: the cost for the eVisa is SAR 300, which is about AED 294.
• Application fee: the cost for the application is SAR 39.44, which is about AED 39.
• Medical insurance fees: the cost of medical insurance is not included. This is because the price is based on the provider.

Once you have paid, you can get your eVisa:

• Entry: you can apply for a single entry or multiple entry visa, depending on MOFA.
• Validity: If you opt for a multi-entry visa, it will be valid for a year and you can stay for a maximum of 90 days on each visit.

T he head of Saudi Arabian tourism wants Taylor Swift to bring her tour to the Middle East. Of course he does; Swift’s Eras tour has a proven track record of boosting economies wherever it goes.

But attracting major events like a Swift tour will require regional cooperation, Fahd Hamidaddin, CEO of the Saudi Tourism Authority, said on Monday at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM). “I f we want to get the Taylor Swifts of the world, we can collaborate, with a view to an ‘Arabian tour’ ,” he told attendees.

Hamidaddin was touting the rollout of the region’s upcoming “unified GCC visa,” a travel permit similar to Europe’s Schengen visa that will allow more than 30 consecutive days of inter-country travel throughout the six Gulf Cooperation Council member nations: Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman. While no date has been announced, officials say the visa is expected to launch by the end of 2024.

“In a significant move aimed at simplifying travel logistics and fostering tourism, the Gulf Cooperation Council has given the green light to a unified tourist visa that will allow travelers to visit all six countries,” said Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, the UAE’s economy minister, noting plans to incorporate month-long “grand packages” in the marketing mix.

The visa is expected to be a boon for the region’s cruise industry, since cruise passengers will no longer have to apply for visas for each port of call. “I happen to also sit on the board of Cruise Saudi, and we are investing big on cruise ships as well as ports and cruise terminals,” Hamidaddin said. “We can easily see a big shift from Med to Red.”

It’s difficult to overstate the Middle East’s tourism ambitions or the speed at which the region has become a power player in the global travel arena. Consider the rise of Dubai, a city-state in the United Arab Emirates that’s roughly the size of Jacksonville, Florida, which now has more hotel rooms than Las Vegas.

Saudi Arabia, closed off to leisure tourists until just five years ago, is now awash with a staggering $800 billion in tourism investment . In February, the kingdom hit a major milestone, having attracted 100 million tourist visits seven years ahead of schedule.

Last year was a record-breaker for tourist arrivals in Qatar—a feat considering that the tiny nation had just hosted the FIFA World Cup the previous year, an event that, by the way, left a handful of stadiums ideal for giant concerts.

The tourism ministers of GCC members hope to the unified visa will both streamline travel red tape and encourage travelers to stay longer and travel wider while in the Gulf region, thus boosting their respective and collective economies.
