How To Swim Or Surf Across Water In Pokemon Scarlet & Pokemon Violet

How To Swim Or Surf Across Water In Pokemon Scarlet & Pokemon Violet

You don’t need HM’s to fly or swim anymore. This guide on How To Swim Or Surf Across Water In Pokemon Scarlet & Pokemon Violet will tell you everything you need to know to learn how you can explore across all the water in the game, with a special ability that acts like surf to let you navigate across lakes and rivers.

The Pokemon games have slowly been doing away with the cumbersome Hidden Machine system for some time now, and that trend continues with the release of Pokemon Scarlet & Pokemon Violet. While the actual method of swimming or surfing on water remains similar, you still need a specific Pokemon with a specific ability, it no longer wastes move slots and you have a lot more freedom with how you want to progress in the game.

How To Swim Or Surf Across Water In Pokemon Scarlet & Pokemon Violet Titan

If you want to navigate across the water, you need to “upgrade” Koraidon / Miraidon. You do this by helping Arven with his task of finding the special herbs by defeating the Titans. I did the Sky Titan first but I think any Titan works, the first one you defeat will power up Koraidon / Miraidon enough to be able to traverse on water.

How to Get Across Water in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Home » Pokemon Scarlet & Violet » How to Get Across Water in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Pokemon video games handle movement in a very interesting way. You start off with just the ability to walk, after which you unlock some sort of transportation device (usually a bike), and after that – you learn how to move across water, and so on. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is no exception in this regard. At a certain point in the game, you will get the ability to bike across water. If you were wondering how to get across water in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet , we’re here to explain where and how to unlock this.

How to Get Across Water in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

How to Travel Across Water in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

You won’t have this option right from the start of the game. If you try to go into the water before you have unlocked the ability to do so, the game will fade to black, you will get transported to the shore, and a message will inform you that you somehow managed to get out of the water on time. The first step is to get your transportation device, and to then upgrade it so that it can dash. Like other upgrades for your bike, you also get this one from completing Path of Legends . The particular PoL that you need to do is called The Search for the Open Sky Titan .

When you get here, you will battle Bombirdier, the Open Sky Titan . After you have defeated it, a cutscene will start, and at the end of it – your transportation Pokemon will have acquired the ability to surf across water. To swim, all you need to do is to approach the water while on your Legendary bike Pokemon. You will then automatically begin to swim in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The controls are very similar to when you are on the ground, as you can even jump while in water when you press the B button.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Travel Abilities: How to unlock Surf, Glide, Climb, Dash, and Jump

They don't make bikes like this where I'm from.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Koraidon gliding

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are the first truly open-world games in the franchise. Players can choose any path they want, travel across the world, and fight Pokémon across the region, no matter how strong.

At the beginning of the game, players are trusted with a legendary Pokémon. Those who choose Pokémon Scarlet will be given Koraidon, while Pokémon Violet players are given Miraidon. After befriending these lizard-like legendary Pokémon, players are able to use their respective legendary as a means for traveling across the region.

Running isn't all Koraidon and Miraidon can do, though — as you progress on the Path of Legends, you can make your funky lizard strong enough to glide, swim, climb, and dash across Paldea. Here's how to upgrade your legendary lizard and make the most of your travels.

How to unlock Dash

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: Titan Klawf fighting Sprigatito

Taking the Path of Legends in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet means traversing across the map to defeat five Titans . These Titans guard the rare Herba Mystica, an ingredient that your schoolmate Arden uses to make sandwiches .

To unlock Koraidon/Miraidon's Dash ability, you'll have to defeat Klawf, also known as the Stony Cliff Titan. After unlocking Dash, you can press down on the L Stick while walking to dash across the world.

Klawf is a Rock-type Pokémon and can be encountered in Area Three of the South Province at level 16, making it a good first choice of titan if you're looking for the best order to play Pokémon Scarlet and Violet in. Bring along Water, Grass, Fighting, Ground, and Steel-type Pokémon, and you'll be sure to succeed in battle.

How to unlock Surf

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Bombirdier battle

This stork-like bird is known as the Open Sky Titan, and is found in Area One of the West Province. Defeating this level 19 Flying and Dark-type Pokémon unlocks the surf ability, allowing Koraidon/Miraidon to traverse water. To defeat it, curate your team with Electric, Ice, Fairy, and Rock-type Pokémon.

How to jump higher

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Orthoworm battle

The Lurking Steel Titan, Orthworm, resides in Area One of the East Province. It's a level 28 Steel-type Pokémon that, upon being defeated, lets the player use their legendary dragon to jump higher, allowing them to reach new heights. This Titan can be conquered by using Fire and Fighting-type Pokémon in battle.

How to unlock glide

The Quaking Earth Titan will be different depending on which game you play, but no matter which game you purchased, you'll be able to find this level 44 Titan in the Asado Desert. Defeating this Pokémon makes Koraidon/Miraidon strong enough to glide across large areas, so long as it has a ledge to jump off of.

If you chose Pokémon Scarlet, you'll get to challenge Great Tusk, a Ground and Fighting-type Pokémon who can be countered with Water, Grass, Ice, Flying, Psychic, and Fairy-type Pokémon.

Pokémon Violet players will face off against Iron Treads, a Ground and Steel-type Pokémon that is weak to Fire, Water, Fighting, and Ground-type Pokémon.

How to unlock climbing

The highest level Titan challenge features not one, but two Pokémon — Dondozo, a Water-type Pokémon, and Tatsugiri, a Water and Dragon-type Pokémon. Prepare a team of Electric and Grass-type Pokémon for Dondozo and Dragon and Fairy-type Pokémon for Tatsugiri in order to succeed.

They can be found in Casseroya Lake to the north, both at level 55. Defeating this challenging duo allows your legendary lizard to scale walls and cliffs with ease.

Lemme upgrade ya

Exploring the Paldea region is quite the rewarding experience, as your exploration is rewarded with new means of exploring the world around you. While you can conquer the Titans in any order you'd like, this helpful guide can steer you in the direction of what upgrade you wish to unlock first. Take your time as you explore one of the most innovative Pokémon games yet, and see what wonders await you.

The Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Koraidon and Miraidon's abilities allow you to surf, fly, dash and more, unlocked by beating Titans and getting Herba Mystica. The Titans number five in total, and each one offers a specific new ability to either Koraidon or Miraidon, as well as providing the next step in Arven's ongoing storyline. We'll cover further details in this guide n how to unlock the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Koraidon and Miraidon new abilities, all the Titans' locations, and what each one gets you.

Oh, and if you're wondering how you can use your super powerful Koraidon and Miraidon in battle and unlock their combat forms? Don't worry, we'll cover that too!

All Koraidon and Miraidon abilities in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Pokemon Scarlet Violet Koraidon Miraidon abilities path legends surf fly glide climb sprint jump

The Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Koraidon and Miraidon legendaries' abilities number five in total, not including the forms they're capable of when you first encounter them. These are the abilities you can find throughout the game as part of the Path of Legends:

  • Dash (aka sprinting)
  • Higher Jumps
  • Surfing on water
  • Hang Gliding
  • Climbing on walls

These abilities are so useful that we suggest that the Path of Legends is where to go first in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet , but you can check out the attached guide to see what the other two quests have to offer.

Pokemon Scarlet Violet Koraidon Miraidon abilities path legends surf fly glide climb sprint jump

All of Koraidon's and Miraidon's abilities and forms are unlocked via the Path of Legends, Titans and the Herba Mystica, with each Titan guarding a specific ability. Some of these abilities are for convenience (such as sprinting), while others - like surfing on water - are needed to access and unlock new areas. Below we'll cover the basics of how to get all the abilities, and what Titan guards each one. We've also covered type matchups, but for a more comprehensive view, we've also got a Pokemon Scarlet and Violet type chart for you to use here!

How to sprint in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Pokemon Scarlet Violet Koraidon Miraidon abilities path legends surf fly glide climb sprint jump

You can unlock the sprinting ability by heading to the Stony Cliff Titan, East of the Naranja or Uva Academy, depending on the game you're playing. Exploring this area and reaching the marked area will reveal a giant Klawf, a humongous crab. Head up to it and fight it, first solo, then with Arven. Picking the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet best starters can give you an early edge in this battle!

  • Suggested level requirement: 13+
  • Klawf (Rock-type) weaknesses: Water, Grass, Ground, Steel, Fighting

After beating Klawf, Arven will reveal the Sweet Herba Mystica, which unlocks the Dash ability. This allows Koraidon or Miraidon to sprint by holding down the left stick, moving at roughly double the speed. However, if you hit something, Koraidon or Miraidon will be briefly stunned, and if you hit a tree, a wild Pokemon might drop down to attack!

How to surf on water in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Pokemon Scarlet Violet Koraidon Miraidon abilities path legends surf fly glide climb sprint jump

A classic of the series, to surf your Koraidon or Miraidon through water and cross seas and oceans, players need to defeat the giant Bombirdier, the Open Sky Titan reminiscent of cartoon baby-carrying storks. Bombirdier lives at the top of a mountain on the west side of West Province (Area One), South of the Asado Desert. It'll drop rocks down the only slope to try and dissuade you from approaching, but these can be easily evaded if you're on Koraidon's or Miraidon's back. Once you reach the top, you can fight this oversized heron.

  • Suggested level requirement: 18+
  • Bombirdier (Flying/Dark-type) weaknesses: Fairy, Electric, Ice, Rock

The surf ability is exactly what it sounds like - whereas before Koraidon and Miraidon would paddle, panic and be returned to the beach if they tried to go in water, now you can cross it automatically by simply walking into it. Your mount can even jump from on the water, helping you clear cliffs and ledges easily.

How to jump higher in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Pokemon Scarlet Violet Koraidon Miraidon abilities path legends surf fly glide climb sprint jump

The ability to jump further in Scarlet and Violet is tied to the Lurking Steel Titan, in the quarries and mines between Zapapico and Levincia in East Province (Area Three). At the marked location you'll find a burrowing Orthworm, the Lurking Steel Titan, a giant tunnelling Pokemon that will try and burrow away between encounters, forcing you to chase it down.

  • Suggested level requirement: 23+
  • Orthworm (Steel-type) weaknesses: Fighting, Ground, Fire

Victory reveals the Salty Herba Mystica, which increases the jump power of Koraidon or Miraidon. One of the simpler abilities, pressing the B button for longer results in a bigger jump, taking you further up.

How to glide in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Pokemon Scarlet Violet Koraidon Miraidon abilities path legends surf fly glide climb sprint jump

To unlock the glide ability for Koraidon and Miraidon, players need to head to the Asado Desert on the West side of Paldea, between Porto Marinada and Cascarrafa. At the point marked, if you're playing Scarlet , you'll find Great Tusk, The Quaking Earth Titan, an altered Donphan that looks like an armoured mammoth. It's a tough fight - we recommend using the power of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Tera types and Terastallizing to take it down. Alternatively, if you're playing Violet , you'll encounter a Pokemon called Iron Treads, a robotic-looking version of Donphan with different weaknesses.

  • Suggested level requirement: 28+
  • Great Tusk (Ground/Fighting-type) weaknesses: Grass, Ice, Water, Fairy, Flying, Psychic
  • Iron Treads (Ground/Steel-type) weaknesses: Fighting, Ground, Fire, Water

Beat this Pokemon in both stages of the fight, and Arven will reveal the Sour Herba Mystica, which allows Koraidon and Miraidon to glide. When in the air, whether from jumping or falling, press B to glide, moving horizontally through the air while descending very, very slowly (though the longer you glide, the more you start to arc downwards). It's a good way to move without issue across long distances, leaping from mountains and towers and soaring through the air.

How to climb walls in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Pokemon Scarlet Violet Koraidon Miraidon abilities path legends surf fly glide climb sprint jump

One of the most comprehensive abilities, climbing walls is earned by conquering the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet False Dragon Titan - the toughest and hardest of all five. Found in the Northernmost island in Casseroya Lake, in the Northwest side of Paldea. It's a little tricky, but head here and you'll find an island covered in wild Tatsugiri, little multicoloured fish Pokemon. At the very bottom of the island is an orange one - interact with it to get Dondozo, the False Dragon Titan to appear. Once you've beaten it once, head to the bigger island to the South, and interact again with the orange Tatsugiri on the Northern shore to get Dondozo appear again.

  • Suggested level requirement: 38+
  • Dondozo (Water-type) weaknesses: Grass, Electric

Dondozo is by far the toughest of the Titans, and the level we've suggested above is a minimum for most players. Not only that, but after fighting that, you'll have to fight the orange Tatsugiri straight away, which turns out to be the real False Dragon Titan.

  • Tatsugiri (Water/Dragon-type) weaknesses: Dragon, Fairy

Finally conquer these two, and you'll see the Spicy Herba Mystica, which unlocks Koraidon and Miraidon's power to climb walls and surfaces. While pressed against a wall, press B to have Koraidon or Miraidon cling to it, then use the left stick to move about. You can't climb walls infinitely - eventually you'll drop without a break - but it's a long timer that'll give you more than enough time to reach the ledge you're looking for.

Warning: This section contains spoilers for the story of Scarlet and Violet.

To unlock Koraidon and Miraidon's battle form and use them in battles, players simply need to progress through the story of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. After completing all three paths - Titans, Gym Leaders and Team Star - you'll unlock a new sequence. Simply follow all the steps asked of you, and eventually you'll reach a point where your legendary Pokemon's battle form will unlock and allow you to fight with them.

Of course, if you can't wait that long for legendaries, there's others in the game - and you can get them by finding all the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Stakes and Shrines .

You can only do it to places you've been to though, so you'll have to explore everywhere first!

How To Surf On Water Pokemon Scarlet Koraidon Miraidon Power

How to surf on water – Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Image of Kurt Perry

Surf has always been an important part of progressing the story in Pokémon . There are usually areas that require surf to access, and, with the new games being large open-world JRPGs, that is truer than ever. Here’s our guide on how to surf on water in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet .

Note:  For more information about the game, check out our  Pokemon Scarlet  and  Violet   guides and features hub .

How to surf on water in  Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

As with past games, surf allows you to swim through the water on the back of your Pokémon. However, the days of HMs are long gone, so you don’t need to teach surf to any of your Pokémon to be able to swim.

The ability to surf in  Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is unlocked by defeating Bombirdier, the Open Sky Titan . Bombirdier is a level 20 boss Pokémon that is encountered in West Province (Area One). It is a Flying and Dark type Pokémon, and the second weakest Titan in the game.

Pokemon Scarlet Violet Sky Titan Bombirdier Location

The Open Sky Titan’s location. Screenshot by PC Invasion.

Since Scarlet and Violet are non-linear games, you can take on Bombirdier whenever you want. As long as you have gotten through the tutorial and reached Mesagoza, you are free to head over to Bombirdier. Just be aware that Titan Pokémon are stronger than their level would suggest, and it’s easy to lose if you go in unprepared.

Once you have defeated Bombiridier, a cutscene will play where you feed Koraidon or Miraidon a special sandwich. Once Koraidon or Miraidon eats the sandwich, it will gain the ability to swim. As for how to surf in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet , all you have to do is jump into any body of water after gaining the ability. Surfing can be combined with Koraidon and Miraidon’s other abilities such as the enhanced jump and dash boost to get around easier.

Pokémon Scarlet  and  Pokémon Violet can be purchased on the Nintendo Store.

How to Surf on Water in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Enzo Zalamea

Pokemon has always been a fairly linear game, and chances are that if you’ve been playing Pokemon Scarlet or Violet, you’ve come across an obstacle or two that you can’t overcome without hitting a certain point in the story.

The open-world style of this particular entry into the Pokemon franchise makes it a little confusing to navigate these obstacles.

One of the most frequent obstacles that you’ll come across while exploring the world is bodies of water, like rivers and lakes. It’s possible to cross over these, which is what we’ll be taking a look at in this guide today.

Here’s how to surf on water in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

What is Surf?

Seasoned Pokemon players will know Surf as a HM (hidden machine) that teaches Pokemon the ability to cross the water. In typical Pokemon games with this HM, you can ride on your Pokemon that has Surf and cross bodies of water.

In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, it is a bit different because there isn’t a Surf HM. Instead, surfing is an ability that you’ll unlock as you go through the game.

Koraidon and Miraidon are the Pokemon mounts in the Scarlet and Violet respectively. You can use them to traverse the Paldea region, and they’re the Pokemon that will be able to surf on water once you unlock the ability.

When Do You Unlock Surf?

To unlock Surf or the ability to cross the water, you need to beat the Open Sky Titan, Bombirdier . If you follow the correct progression path for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, fighting Bombirdier, the Open Sky Titan should be your 4th objective.

You should have beaten Gym Leader Katy, Klawf (the Stony Cliff Titan), and Gym Leader Brassius.

Technically, you don’t have to follow the path, but you will experience level gaps if you go too far off the standard path.

Once you beat the Open Sky Titan, you will get a cutscene with Arven. You will receive a call on your Rotom phone telling you that you have unlocked the ability to cross the water.

What Should You Do After Unlocking Surf?

Since the map will open up a bit because you can now cross bodies of water, you can finally access most of the Northern regions of the map.

However, you should be careful not to go past areas that are too high-level. It’s worth looking at ways to level up your team quickly so high-level Pokemon or trainers don’t catch you out on your travels.

After unlocking Surf, you can go to the nearest objective from your battle with the Open Sky Titan.

You will meet Giacomo and battle him, but you don’t need to use Surf to get there.

After Giacomo, you can go to the Eastern region just to the north of Gym Leader Brassius. This should be your next stage in progressing through the story, and you will need to use Surf to access the next two objectives here easily.

Can You Unlock Surf Early?

Yes, most of the story progression in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is not linear. You can skip Klawf (the Stony Cliff Titan) and Brassius and move all the way to fight Bombirdier.

However, you might find yourself struggling with the Bombirdier fight.

I would suggest aiming to have Pokemon that are roughly level 18-23 before trying the fight. Make sure that your team has plenty of variety and look up the types and weaknesses in the game so that you can gain an edge over Bombirdier.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Water Pokemon

How to Catch Water Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Image of Madison Benson

To complete your Pokedex in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you’ll have to get creative with approaching various Pokemon. While yes, a good chunk will wander on the ground for you to find, some also reside in the water. Since your character can’t swim, figuring out how to catch these water-dwelling Pokemon is surprisingly challenging. You also can’t fish like in previous games, adding to the initial difficulty. If you’re interested in learning more, continue reading to discover how to catch Pokemon in the water in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

The main way to target Pokemon in the water is to use your ZL and ZR joycon buttons. Your  ZL button  allows you to aim toward the Pokemon, while your  ZR button  throws the Pokeball. Doing this will throw your lead Pokemon toward the opposing Pokemon, causing a battle to ensue. If you want a specific one to initiate the fight, head to your Party menu and move your chosen Pokemon to the first party slot. Picking a Pokemon that doesn’t typically live in the water will cause a small platform to appear under them, so don’t stress too much about which one you pick.

Related:  How to Ride Koraidon and Miraidon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

But what if the water Pokemon is too far away? If this tactic doesn’t work for you, you’ll have to progress further in the story and defeat the Titans. More specifically, your Koraidon or Miraidon will gain access to movement across water after defeating your third Titan. You can use them to swim and access Pokemon who you otherwise couldn’t reach. This is particularly helpful for any in the ocean or other large bodies of water.

They are also contacted by Professor Sada S / Professor Turo V , Arven's mother S /father V , who reveals that the Koraidon S /Miraidon V the player now travels with was originally under their possession, and asks the player to look after it.

Three days later, [1] Director Clavell initiates the Treasure Hunt, an independent study assignment where the students of the academy journey across Paldea in order to find something that they can call their own personal treasure. This allows the player to initiate three different storylines, either simultaneously or one by one.

Victory Road

At Nemona's urging, the player sets out to challenge the eight Pokémon Gyms around Paldea. Those who collect the eight necessary Gym Badges may take on the Champion Assessment at the Pokémon League headquarters and obtain the Champion Rank. While the player travels around the region to challenge the Gyms in any order they wish, Nemona frequently shows up to support the player in various ways, most often by battling. The player is also introduced to Geeta , the chairwoman of the Paldea Pokémon League and the region's strongest Champion-ranked Trainer, the Top Champion, as well as several members of Paldea's Elite Four .

Once the player has all eight Gym Badges, they make their way to the Pokémon League headquarters. After passing an interview test, the player battles and defeats the Elite Four and Geeta, making them a Champion-ranked Trainer. Excited by the player finally becoming her equal, Nemona challenges them to one more battle, in which she holds nothing back. Defeating her in this battle concludes the Victory Road storyline.

Path of Legends

Arven tells the player about the five giant Pokémon known as Titan Pokémon he has read about that reside in various places over Paldea, and requests the player's help in defeating them and collecting their Herba Mystica , legendary herbs said to have amazing health benefits. During the quest to defeat the Titans, the player's Koraidon S /Miraidon V gradually regains its old abilities by eating sandwiches made with the Herba Mystica. Arven eventually also reveals that he wishes to use the Herba Mystica to help heal his partner, Mabosstiff , who was severely injured a while back.

After all the Herba Mystica have been collected, the player's Koraidon S /Miraidon V has recovered all of its former powers, excluding its ability to battle , and Arven's Mabosstiff makes a full recovery, much to Arven's immense relief. The Professor then requests the player to come see them at their laboratory at the Great Crater of Paldea , with Arven battling the player at his full power to test if they're both ready to take on the most dangerous area in the region. Defeating him concludes the Path of Legends.

★ Starfall Street ★

An individual referring to themselves as Cassiopeia hacks into the player's Rotom Phone and requests the player's help in taking down Team Star in an operation codenamed "Operation Starfall". Director Clavell, disguised as an academy student and using the pseudonym "Clive", joins the player as they make their way around Paldea to take down the five squads of Team Star at their bases by defeating the boss of each squad. During the player's one-man war against the team, they gradually learn more about the team's history. The team was formed by victims of bullying who, rallied together by their mysterious "big boss", decided to finally confront their bullies. However, when confronted 18 months before the events of the game, the bullies fled without even attempting to fight back and dropped out of the academy. Moreover, the then-deputy director of the academy wiped out all the cases of bullying from the school's records, making Team Star seem like bullies themselves. Blaming themselves for having failed to prevent this from occurring, the entire staff of the academy had resigned as a result, explaining why none of the current staff members know anything about the incident.

Eventually, once all five of Team Star's squads have been taken down, Cassiopeia reveals themselves as the "big boss" of Team Star, having started Operation Starfall because the team cannot continue operating in its current way, and tells the player to confront them in the schoolyard at night. At the academy, Clavell takes off his disguise and claims himself to be Cassiopeia, but after being defeated in a battle, he admits he was simply testing the player to see if they'd be ready to face the real Cassiopeia. The player meets the real Cassiopeia in the schoolyard, who reveals herself to be Penny. After Penny has been defeated, Clavell reveals that the Team Star bosses were watching the battle, and allows the team to continue operating as long as they turn their bases into training facilities for Trainers, which they accept. This concludes ★ Starfall Street ★.

The Way Home

After the first three stories have been concluded, the player, Arven, Nemona, and Penny make their way to Area Zero at the Great Crater of Paldea, following the Professor's request. As the group travels to the four research stations around the area to unlock the door to the Professor's laboratory, they encounter primeval S /mechanical V Pokémon, which are revealed to have been brought to the present day from another era by a time machine created by the Professor, including two specimens of Koraidon S / Miraidon V . At the laboratory's entrance, some of these Paradox Pokémon confront the player and their friends, forcing the player to enter the Zero Lab alone while their friends fight off the Pokémon outside.

Inside the laboratory, the player discovers that the Professor is actually a robot, created by the real Professor before they were killed by the second and more aggressive Koraidon S /Miraidon V . The artificial intelligence within the robot, despite being an exact copy of the Professor's memories and knowledge, opposes the original Professor's plan to keep the time machine running, as it would threaten to destroy Paldea's ecosystem with an overflow of Paradox Pokémon. However, since the AI is programmed to protect the time machine, the player is forced to battle it against its will. Once the AI has been defeated, the player is rejoined by their friends, and a program called the Paradise Protection Protocol takes over the robot Professor, as well as locking all Poké Balls not marked with the Professor's ID. Finally regaining its ability to battle, the player's Koraidon S /Miraidon V confronts and defeats the other member of its kind, ending the Paradise Protection Protocol's hold over the AI. The AI, however, recognizes that its systems are so integrally connected with the time machine that the machine cannot be shut down as long as it remains present. As such, the AI chooses to travel to another era using the time machine, bidding the player and their friends farewell as it disappears. After the time machine permanently shuts down, the player and their friends decide to take a slow and scenic route back to Mesagoza, concluding The Way Home and the main game.

With the player and their friends returning to normal school life, Nemona suggests hosting a battle tournament at the school to celebrate the player's new Champion status, requesting for Geeta to take part in it as well as she is the chairwoman of the academy's school board. While Geeta says she's busy with her duties as the Pokémon League chairwoman, she agrees to take part if the player takes her place at inspecting all the Gym Leaders to see if they're still worthy of keeping their positions. As such, the player returns to each Gym and takes on the eight Gym Leaders once more in a series of rematches .

After the player has finished the rematches and reported their inspection results to Geeta, the tournament, dubbed the Academy Ace Tournament , is finally conducted. The player defeats Arven in the first round, the biology teacher Jacq in the second round, the battle studies teacher Dendra in the third round, and Geeta in the finals, officially making them the strongest Trainer at the academy. Clavell then declares that the tournament will not be a one-time event and will henceforth be held regularly, concluding the post-game story.

The Teal Mask

The player joins three other students on a school trip to the land of Kitakami in the east, where they participate in the Festival of Masks and uncover the tale of Ogerpon and the Loyal Three alongside the local siblings Carmine and Kieran .

The Indigo Disk

Following their trip to Kitakami, the player is invited to become an exchange student at Blueberry Academy in the Unova region by the academy's director, Cyrano . At this new, battle-focused education facility, they explore the vast Terarium , re-encounter Carmine and Kieran, and take part in the BB League . Eventually, the player's journey leads them back to Paldea and the depths of Area Zero.

Mochi Mayhem

The player, Nemona, Arven, and Penny travel to Kitakami together to meet Kieran and Carmine. However, their trip takes a turn for the worse when more and more people start behaving very oddly. The unusual behavior turns out to be the cause of a mysterious mochi created a small purple Pokémon , requiring the player and Kieran to team up in order to stop it from escalating the situation any further.

The game is set in the Paldea region and is an open-world game in which areas are seamlessly connected. The areas in the game can be visited in any order without Pokémon's levels being scaled to the player's achievements. The game also features multiplayer with up to four players simultaneously, enabling trading and battling between players as well as allowing them to travel through the game's areas together.

Terastal phenomenon

The Terastal phenomenon is a new type of transformation that allows any Pokémon from the Paldea region to power up and become bejeweled using the Tera Orb . After Terastalizing, a Pokémon's natural type attribute is either enhanced or altered according to their innate Tera Type.

Paradox Pokémon

The Paradox Pokémon appear for the first time as "unidentified creatures". [2] Great Tusk is described in the Scarlet Book , appearing in Pokémon Scarlet, while Iron Treads is described in the Violet Book , appearing in Pokémon Violet. They are a group of unique Pokémon that came from the ancient past in Pokémon Scarlet and the distant future in Pokémon Violet.

Scarlet and Violet feature Gyms , just like most of the other core series titles. In Paldea, the Gym Leaders are Katy ( Bug ), Brassius ( Grass ), Iono ( Electric ), Kofu ( Water ), Larry ( Normal ), Ryme ( Ghost ), Tulip ( Psychic ), and Grusha ( Ice ). For the first time in the series, the player is able to challenge the Gyms in any order they wish.

Elite Four and Champion

For the first time in a non-remake game since Generation IV , the Elite Four can only be challenged in a fixed order. The members are Rika ( Ground ), Poppy ( Steel ), Larry ( Flying ), and Hassel ( Dragon ). After defeating all four Elite Four members, the player faces the Top Champion, Geeta , who uses a team consisting of a variety of types.

Version-exclusive Pokémon

Most version-exclusive Pokémon can be encountered and caught by players of the opposite version who join a Union Circle or Tera Raid Battle , except for Koraidon and Miraidon, which require trading. Armarouge and Ceruledge can be obtained through raids, even solo raids in the opposite version that their evolution items can be obtained in, but not a Union Circle, and vice versa for Paradox Pokémon, not counting limited-time event Tera Raids.

Event Tera Raid Pokémon

Every Legendary Pokémon can be encountered in both versions, though being able to find the opposite-version ones requires doing Blueberry Quests with other players.

Compatibility

The games are compatible with Pokémon GO through Bluetooth LE as of version 1.2.0 (released on February 27, 2023). Players can send postcards as well as Gimmighoul Coins from their phone to the games.

Each time a postcard is sent, wild Vivillon 's pattern will change depending on the location where the Postcard came from. This effect lasts 24 hours in real-time, after which the pattern of wild Vivillon will be reset, and the player will be able to receive another Postcard.

Pokémon HOME

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet can connect with Pokémon HOME as of HOME's version 3.0.0 (released on May 30, 2023). This allows them to store and receive Pokémon from Pokémon HOME, including Pokémon from previous generations that were transferred into Pokémon HOME. Users of HOME can transfer Pokémon freely between other Scarlet and Violet save files on the console, even if the files belong to different profiles.

Only Pokémon in the Paldea Pokédex , Kitakami Pokédex , Blueberry Pokédex and a select few "foreign" Pokémon can be transferred to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The Kitakami and Blueberry Academy Pokédex were released with the two iterations of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, but the Pokémon in those Pokédexes became compatible with the base game upon release even if the player has not purchased the DLC. All regional forms of compatible Pokémon that existed at the time of release and their respective regional evolved forms are also compatible.

When a compatible Pokémon from another game first enters these sets of games, its moveset is changed to its four most recent level-up moves by default (though the player can make alterations). Additionally, any compatible Pokémon brought from Pokémon Legends: Arceus will have their Poké Ball displayed as a Strange Ball due to their invalid Poké Ball IDs not being otherwise recognised in these games.

Unusable moves

In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, many moves, including those that are usable in Sword and Shield , are no longer usable. Pokémon do not normally learn these moves in the game. In lieu of their usual descriptions, most of these moves instead have the following generic description: " This move can't be used. It's recommended that this move is forgotten. Once forgotten, this move can't be remembered. "

  • In addition, all Z-Moves , Max Moves , and G-Max Moves are also unusable in these games.

In Version 2.0.1, which was released alongside The Teal Mask , several previously unusable moves were made usable again. These were mostly signature moves of Pokémon that were added in that update. Further moves were made usable in Version 3.0.0, coinciding with The Indigo Disk .

Save data bonuses

If the Nintendo Switch system being used has save data from previous mainline Pokémon games, the player may talk to an NPC in Mesagoza to receive a case for the Rotom Phone :

  • Pika-Vee Case, if Let's Go, Pikachu! or Let's Go, Eevee! save data exists.
  • Ball Guy Case, if Sword or Shield save data exists.
  • Pokétch Case, if Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl save data exists.
  • Arc Phone Case, if Legends: Arceus save data exists.

IGN rated the games an "Okay" 6/10. [3] They are the lowest rated core series games on Metacritic , [4] both holding a score of 72% [5] [6] each.

The games are the most pre-ordered games in the series' history. [7] They sold over 10 million units in their launch weekend, which is the highest for any Nintendo game in this time frame. [8] As of December 31, 2022, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have sold 20.61 million copies worldwide, the highest for a Nintendo game in its launch quarter. [9] In the fiscal year of their release, the games sold 22.10 million copies worldwide, the highest for a Nintendo game in its first fiscal year. As of December 31, 2023, the games have sold 24.36 million copies worldwide, making these the third best selling Pokémon games of all time. [10]

Version history

  • v1.0.0 is present on the physical game cards, and is playable on a Switch whose internet connection remains off.
  • On June 19, 2023, it was announced that a future update would fix the move descriptions of Dire Claw , Ceaseless Edge , and Stone Axe , which incorrectly state that they have a high critical-hit ratio (as they did in Pokémon Legends: Arceus ). [13] However, the June 28, 2023 update did not include this change.

Basically, these two dragons, Miraidon and Koraidon , make your traveling faster and more convenient as you can run faster, climb complicated walls, glide, and even swim.

However, by the game’s start, your dragon’s only ability is running. As you progress in the game, you will have to defeat a particular titan in-game in order to unlock a specific ability.

In this brief guide, we will tell you how you can get your Koraidon or Miraidon surfing on water.

How to Travel Across Water in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

The whole map area in the new Pokemon Scarlet and Violet has a vast area of water. In order to reach some areas on the other side, you will be required to cross the sea.

In order for your friend dragon to learn to surf on the water, you must first defeat the Open Sky Titan called the Bombirdier . After you defeat this titan, you can obtain an Herba Mystica to feed your dragon which will unlock its ability to swim.

Now that your Miraidon or Koraidon knows how to swim, you can freely get on the water and cross all bodies of water in the game.

From its basic form, it will adjust its body to be able to accommodate the needs in order to utilize its ability in surfing.

In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet , players can engage in many different activities. And, of course, one of your main goals will be completing the Paldea Pokédex . You will need to find and catch every Pokémon in the region. However, this is a rather difficult mission, as many Pokémon live in hard-to-reach locations.

Water Pokémon is a good example. As the name implies, these are Pokémon that live in water. And until you learn to Swim , you won’t be able to get to them.

How to Catch Water Pokémon

Depending on whether you play Scarlet or Violet , you will be able to ride Koraidon or Miraidon . And these Pokémon can adapt to the environment. So, it’s an all-terrain vehicle. But even with Koraidon or Miraidon , you won’t be able to catch Water Pokémon at the very beginning.

At first, Koraidon and Miraidon can only move on land. And to get new abilities, you need to start completing the Path of Legends quest . You can get it from Arven in the Academy Cafeteria .

To complete this quest, you must defeat five different Titan bosses . They are scattered throughout the Paldea region. And for defeating each of them, your mount will receive a new ability. It is worth noting that no matter in what order you defeat the Titans , the new skills will unlock in the same order.

And so, after defeating the first Titan , you will be able to unlock Dash for your Koraidon or Miraidon . Then you must go to the second Titan to unlock the ability to Swim . Luckily, Arven has marked the location of the bosses on your map. And once you learn how to Swim , you can catch Water Pokémon just like any other.

Azumarill in a battle Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

How To Catch Water Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Image of Ryan Bruckner

Water is one of the best types in Pokemon, since it has powerful physical and special moves and even resists Steel type. A good Water-type on your team will pay off many times over, so here’s everything you need on how to catch water Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet .

How Do You Catch Water Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet?

There are a few ways to catch water Pokemon in Paldea: once you beat the Titan Bombirdier and can swim with Koraidon or Miraidon, you can approach fish Pokemon like Arrokuda that live in ponds and rivers. A decent number of Water-type Pokemon, like Psyduck, wander around on land and you can approach them like anything else. Then there’s Azurill, which doesn’t become Water-type until after it evolves, so it doesn’t spend much time in the water.

Koraidon and Miraidon surfing in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Regardless of where you find your water Pokemon, a Great Ball or Dive Ball and special conditions do the trick for quickly capturing them.

Depending on what role it needs to fill, the right Water-type for your team changes. Azumarill is an aggressive physical attacker equipped with Fairy coverage too, but Vaporeon is a bulky special attacker that can heal your team with Wish. The versatility is awesome, but it makes you sit down and think about the composition of your team and what you want it to accomplish. It’s part of the challenge and part of the fun of competitive Pokemon.

That’s everything we have on catching water Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet . check out some of our other Scarlet and Violet content like where to find Varoom , collecting Bonsly Tears , and picking up your Master Ball .

10 Rarest Pokémon In Scarlet & Violet

Some of the Pokémon in Pokémon: Scarlet and Violet are incredibly difficult to locate unless players are very persistent.

As with any game in the Pokémon franchise, some Pokémon are simply harder to acquire than others. This proud, and sometimes frustrating, tradition is carried on by Pokémon Scarlet and Violet . In some cases, the games even up the ante, making it even harder to acquire certain Pokémon unless players are extremely devoted.

Unfortunately, given how vast the world of Pokémon has become, it would be impossible to list off all the most difficult Pokémon to catch or acquire, but some members of the Paldea Pokédex do stand out. Despite the difficulty in catching them, however, rare Pokémon become all the more coveted among players, and Pokémon fans are known for going to the ends of the earth to catch the creature they desire. After all, they've gotta catch 'em all.

Charcadet Has One Of The Lowest Spawn Rates

  • Characdet only has a one percent spawn rate.
  • To get it to evolve, players need to acquire ten items off a Pokémon, which are specific to which game they play.

Charcadet's adorable form belies its true power, making it a much sought-after Pokémon for any team. What makes it especially enticing is that Charcadet can evolve into one of two different Pokémon depending on which game players are using. Unfortunately, Characadet has a one percent spawn rate in the game, meaning players will need to be either extremely lucky or extremely patient if they want to catch it.

Then there is the matter of evolving it. Characadet doesn't evolve by standard means. It requires the player to acquire ten Sinistea Chips or Bronzor Fragments, and then trade them in to an NPC in Zapapico just to get the actual item needed to evolve it. It's a very involved process, but well worth it for someone dedicated enough.

Kyurem Requires Extra Dedication To Locate

  • To find Kyurem, players need to work with other players and complete a group quest.
  • This gives them access to a rare snack from an NPC named Snackworth.

Pokémon and Krispy Kreme Partner for Exclusive New Donut Release

In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet players can acquire legacy legendary Pokémon by completing BBQs for the NPC Snackworth. As a reward for every ten BBQs that are completed, he will give the player a random snack that can spawn the legendary it is connected to. Kyurem is different though, requiring more than just individual effort to spawn.

Players must go into Union Circle and complete a group quest alongside another player. The quest in question is the blueberry group quest. Once this is accomplished, Snackworth will give the player a Kyurem Treat that causes the Pokémon to spawn in Dalizapa Passage.

Walking Wake/Iron Leaves Are Some Of The Hardest Tera Raid Bosses

  • Walking Wake and Iron Leaves can only be acquired after the main story.
  • They are 7-star tera raid bosses found in Area Zero.

Easily some of the most powerful Pokémon in the games, Walking Wake and Iron Leaves can only be acquired after completing the main story. Once the game is complete and Area Zero is unlocked, players can return to the location and look for the correct Tera Raid that grants them a chance to catch Walking Wake or Iron Leaves. Be warned though, these Pokémon are no pushovers even when they are normal and this will be a 7-star Tera Raid.

It is a daunting process, as both Pokémon will appear at level 75 and their unique type combos make them difficult to beat, especially when combined with a Tera Boss' defenses. Yet, it is important to note that one must be careful when looking for these Pokémon, as they will only get one of Walking Wake or Iron Leaves.

Milotic's Beauty Is Hard To Acquire

  • Milotic can be acquired in the Teal Mask DLC, but only through evolution.
  • Players must find Feebas and then acquire the correct item to make it evolve.

The Teal Mask DLC gives players the chance to acquire this beautiful Pokémon , but it has always been difficult to do so, even back when it was first introduced in the Hoenn region. Milotic cannot be captured in the wild. Instead, players must look for its pre-evolutionary form, Feebas. This Pokémon can be found in the Crystal Pool at the top of Oni Mountain.

Unfortunately, Feebas is also an incredibly rare Pokémon to spawn, but once it has, and players catch it, making it evolve becomes a less daunting task. All they have to do is locate a prism scale and give it to Feebas to get a Milotic. These can be found in Fellhorn Gourge, paving the way for a very powerful Water-Type Pokémon to join a player's team.

Baxcalibur Can Only Be Acquired By Training The Right Pokémon

  • Baxcalibur can only be acquired by leveling up his pre-evolutions to level 54.
  • Catching Frigibax or Arctibax is also difficult, as they are rare spawns.

The One Aspect Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Absolutely Nailed

A pseudo-legendary Pokémon, Baxcalibur is one that players may never encounter unless they put in the effort to acquire it. Baxcalibur can be acquired in either Scarlet or Violet , but the process takes time. It does not appear naturally in the wild, but like most Dragon-Type Pokémon, players can capture its prior evolutionary forms and raise them until they eventually evolve into Baxcalibur.

Players will need to go to Glaseado Mountain to look for one of Baxcalibur's earlier forms: Frigibax or Arctibax. Even then, these Pokémon are rare and players can find it difficult for them to spawn unless they acquire food that increases the likelihood of a dragon encounter. Once the Pokémon has been acquired, players will need to level up their new friend to level 54 before they get a Baxcalibur.

Finding Meloetta Is Extremely Convoluted

  • To make a Meloetta spawn, players must engage in a specific series of steps in the right location.

Now, a mythical Pokémon should not be easy to acquire, but even by the standards of the franchise, finding and then catching Meloetta is an involved process. It does not spawn randomly unless players know exactly what they need to do to make it appear. The process of making Meloetta spawn is a step-by-step list that must be met exactly as described.

First, the player must locate the cyclone of leaves in the Coastal Biome. Then they must spin clockwise in the center of leaves for at least 10 seconds. Following this they will need to activate their camera and change to the Sepia Filter. They then must look for Meloetta or listen for its singing. Once it has been spotted, they can exit the camera mood and approach Meloetta, triggering a battle and the chance to catch it.

Sprigatito/Fuecoco/Quaxly Are Truly One Of A Kind

  • Players can only get one of the starter Pokémon at the start of the game.
  • The only way to acquire the other two they did not choose is through trade.

As with any Pokémon game in the series, the three adorable starters are among the rarest of pokémon in either game. This is because players will only get access to one at the start of the game, while the other two are unavailable anywhere else. This means players can only find one of these Pokémon throughout the entirety of their save file.

The only way around this is to perform a trade early on, transferring the spare starters to another player for safekeeping. This allows them the chance to play with a team partially composed of starters. While a powerful combination, the process of acquiring them seems a bit silly and depends entirely upon having another person willing to perform the trade.

Zorua Can Hide In Plain Sight

  • Zorua appears as a random Pokémon in the wild, making it hard to locate.
  • It is also weak, meaning a solid hit might knock it out before a capture attempt is made.

Pokémon Has A Secret Protagonist Only Diehard Fans Know

Any Pokémon that can change its form as its main gimmick was always going to be difficult to catch. Zorua's illusion ability means that it does not spawn in the wild in its true form. It takes the form of other Pokémon, meaning the player has no real way of figuring out which Pokémon they are looking at is real and which is fake.

Compounding the difficulty in catching it is that Zorua is not the sturdiest Pokémon out there. If hit by a sufficiently powerful Pokémon, it could go down in one strike, exposing it, but robbing players of their chance to catch it and forcing them to start the whole process all over again. It's a time-consuming endeavor, and while it lines up neatly with the Pokémon's general behavior, that does little to make the task of catching it any easier. Unfortunately, their absolute adorability means many players will spend a lot of their time trying to catch Zorua.

To Get A Gholdengo, Players Literally Need Money

  • Players need to acquire 999 Gimmighoul Coins to evolve one into Gholdengo.
  • These can be acquired by finding wandering Gimmighoul or battling chest Gimmighouls.

Gholdengo is one of the hardest Pokémon to acquire in the game. It does not appear naturally in the wild, and trying to get its early form, Gimmighoul to evolve is a true test of a player's resolve. To get Gimmighoul to evolve, a player must acquire 999 Gimmighoul Coins from across the region of Paldea. A truly daunting task, but not an impossible one, just a tedious one.

These coins can be acquired by interacting with Gimmighoul's wandering and chest forms. The wandering form gives players coins for free, provided players can spot the tiny Pokémon wherever it has elected to hide. The latter option is to battle its chest form, which drops random amounts of coins as a prize for victory. The process may sound grueling, but when completed, players actually have one of the most powerful Pokémon in the game.

Shops in Paldea

Several shops are located around the Paldea region, which offer a variety of useful items!

Based on the Iberian Peninsula

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Paldea Region Map

The Paldea Region appears to be based on the Iberian Peninsula, made up by both Spain and Portugal .

Looking at Paldea's map, you can see that the landmass is similar to Iberia, making it the first Pokemon region to be based on two countries at once . Incidentally, Portugal is the first western nation to make contact with Japan way back in 1543 , according to Tokyo's own Ministry of Foreign Affairs .

Previous Region Names and Real-World Locations

The starters are based on native animals.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Starter Pokemon from Reveal Trailer

Quaxly appears to be based on the Eurasian Teal, which is a widespread duck species found in the Iberian Peninsula.

Fuecoco doesn't have a real-world equivalent, but it appears to be a reference to the El Drac mosaic statue in Park Güell.

Pokémon: Top 10 Strongest Mythical Pokémon, Ranked

  • Mythical Pokémon are harder to find, and often have stat totals of 600 or higher.
  • Each Mythical Pokémon has unique lore and abilities, like healing power and nightmare creation.
  • Arceus,Darkrai, and Mew are among some of the most powerful Mythicals in the entire franchise.

Throughout the more than 1,000 pocket monsters currently known in the Pokémon universe, some of these creatures clearly stand above the rest for their stats, abilities, and lore. The majority of Pokémon, whether simple starters or fully evolved warriors, are fairly traditional in the world of Pokémon , but others can be ranked among the Legendary and Mythical classifications. Mythical Pokémon are often considered by many living in the world of Pokémon to be only rumors, and having one of these can make any Trainer instantly rise to the top.

There is often some confusion regarding what makes a Pokémon Mythical rather than simply a Legendary, as Mythical is actually a subset of the Legendary status . Mythical Pokémon can be even more difficult to find than other Legendaries and generally have stat totals of 600 or higher. There are currently just under two dozen Mythical Pokémon listed in the Pokédex, with Gen 9's Pecharunt being the most recent to be discovered in the Pokémon: Scarlet & Violet - Mochi Mayhem epilogue of The Indigo Disk DLC.

This list does not take into account any temporary evolutions, including Mega Evolutions or evolutions caused by items, of the following Mythical Pokémon.

Palkia Or Dialga: Which Legendary Pokmon Is Better?

Volcanion features a unique combo of fire and water, pokédex #0721.

As the only Pokémon to have the illogical combination of fire and water, Volcanion stands out not only among the Mythical Pokémon but also among all other Pokémon. Because of this unique dual-type combo, it can create large amounts of steam that can act as a fog shield to hide itself from predators. It is said that the steam can become so pressurized that Volcanion can even move landmasses with it, and its Steam Eruption move can be a very powerful attack.

Its larger size and quadrupedal stance also give it an advantage when attacking smaller Pokémon. Like many of the Mythical Pokémon, Volcanion has a stat total of 600. Most of those points are in its Defense (120), Special Attack (130), and Attack (110), while it has a relatively low Speed and HP.

Victini: The Victory Pokémon

Pokédex #0494.

One of the smallest Mythical Pokémon is Victini, proving that small and timid creatures can still be extremely powerful in many different ways. For one, if a trainer becomes friends with it, Victini is guaranteed to bring victory to that trainer in battle , hence its nickname the "Victory Pokémon". This dual Fire- and Psychic-type Mythical Pokémon can also fly and turn invisible, and features an even spread of stats, with each stat having 100 points, for a total of 600.

Jirachi: The Wish Pokémon

Pokédex #0385.

Also known as the 'Wish Pokémon', Jirachi makes its debut appearance among the third generation of Pokémon . Perhaps Jirachi would not seem quite as rare if not for its unusual trait of hibernating for thousands of years at a time. During the short week-long period that it is awake, it will grant three wishes, one for each of its teal tags. Like Victini, Jirachi has an even spread of 100 points in each stat category, with a total base stat of 600 . It is the only Pokémon that is able to learn the powerful move, Doom Desire.

10 Strongest Pokmon From The Hoenn Region

Darkrai gives nightmares to its opponents, pokédex #0491.

Darkrai is special in the fact that it can tamper with dreams and often provides nightmares to its opponents. The ability to create nightmares, however, is more of a defense mechanism than a personal attack, but it, unfortunately, can only be thwarted when a lunar feather from Cresslia is put into play. Darkrai also can turn into a shadow and disappear from any opponent , whether Pokémon or human, making it easy for it to slip past anyone and everyone.

Darkrai is like most Mythical Pokémon with a base stat total of 600, but it has a very low HP of only 70. With a fairly weak Defense and Special Defense, it is best if it does not get hit. Darkrai's impressive Special Attack stat of 135 and Speed of 125 can make up for these shortcomings, however, and it can often take out opponents before they get a chance to do much.

Melmetal Evolves From Meltan

Pokédex #0809.

Aside from temporary evolutions with the use of items or Mega Evolution, Melmetal is the only Mythical Pokémon that evolves having evolved from the also-Mythical Meltan. Melmetal is one of the best Mythical Pokémon of its generation and is not only hard to find but also hard to defeat. Its liquid metal form combined with the hex nuts provides it with some flexibility but also helps it have the strongest punch of any Pokémon.

Melmetal is also significantly more powerful than Meltan due to the fact that Meltan evolves by being the strongest one in a group of Meltans and ends up absorbing the other ones to become Melmetal . Melmetal has a base stat total of 600, but only 34 in Speed, making it incredibly slow. Its Attack and Defense are both at 143, however, with another 135 in HP, making it incredibly powerful.

Celebi Has Healing Powers

Pokédex #0251.

With many nicknames like 'Time Travel Pokémon' and the 'Voice of the Forest', Celebi proves to have many very strong powers. Celebi can travel through time, heal wounds, and make nature thrive and flourish wherever it shows up. Seeing as plants are so important to all parts of the Pokémon universe, both for food and just for other normal purposes, helping nature thrive and restoring balance can be essential in some places. Celebi has an even spread of 100 in each stat line, for a stat total of 600.

15 Strongest Grass-Type Pokmon, Ranked

Diancie can mega evolve, pokédex # 0719.

At first glance, Diancie may look like a gentle and sweet Mythical Pokémon with its little dress and diamond crown, but as a combination of rock type and fairy type, they have quite an array of strong moves. This little one is a Mythical Pokémon with great lore , and is the only Mythical Pokémon that is capable of Mega Evolution.

In its regular form, Diancie has a base stat total of 600, with incredibly low HP and Speed both at 50, and fairly even Attack and Special Attack at 100 each, but incredibly high Defense and Special Defense both at 150 . Mega Diancie surprisingly still has only 50 points in HP despite the stat total being raised to 700, but all other stats are very high.

Deoxys Can Take Four Different Forms

Pokédex #0386.

Deoxys does not evolve, but it does have four different forms that it can turn into - Normal Forme, Speed Forme, Attack Forme, and Defense Forme . Each Forme allows it to thrive in different parts of battles giving Deoxys different abilities and making it incredibly strong and difficult to defeat. All four versions feature a base stat total of 600, but each divides the points differently to reflect the chosen focus.

Deoxys is very intelligent, so much so, that in the anime and manga it can be seen making clones of itself. It also has psychokinetic powers, shoots very powerful laser beams, and has the ability to heal itself, which, yet again, makes it extremely hard to defeat. It comes from space and its forms, psychic abilities, and overall strength make it one of the strongest Mythical Pokémon .

Mew: The First Mythical Pokémon

Pokédex #0151.

What makes Mew stand out from other Mythical Pokémon is the fact that it is said to contain DNA of all Pokémon , thereby allowing it to learn nearly any Technical Machine (TM), Hidden Machine (HM), Technical Record (TR), and Move Tutor. Being able to learn and use any attack allows it to be strong against many different types of Pokémon and makes it able to learn some of the strongest moves there are. Mew also has a stat total of 600, with even 100 points in each area, and it can fly, travel through water, and make itself invisible, as if being able to learn every move isn't enough.

Pokmon: Possible Meanings Behind Arceus' Name

Arceus has the highest stat total in the franchise, pokédex #0493.

Arceus is rumored to be the Pokémon that created the entire Pokémon universe, and is often referred to as "The Orginal One." It is said to have abilities to bring back things it destroyed, stop time, and even speak to humans, just to name a few of its many powers. Arceus is also known to travel through time, and can even change its type with the use of Plates or Z-Crystals, in order to best handle a situation.

Besides all of its natural powers, Arceus has some of the best stats of all the Pokémon . It has the highest stat total in the Pokedex, capping out at a total of 720, with each of its stats being an even 120. Those stats combined with its size make it the strongest Mythical Pokémon of all time.
