Swinging into action on the green is something that many golfers in West Florida have been eagerly awaiting for months. The wait is now over, with a full schedule of events announced for the upcoming West Florida Golf Tour.

West Florida Golf Tour

Golf tournaments, golf schedule, golfer rankings, golf courses in west florida, prize money for golf tournaments.

Golf tournaments are an exciting event where players of all ages and skill levels can come together to compete against each other while enjoying a great day out on the course. But what makes these West Florida tournaments unique?

First off, they offer competition and camaraderie across several divisions, so no matter your skill level or age you’re sure to find a group that’s right for you. Tournaments take place at some of the best courses around the region, offering stunning vistas and top-notch layouts to challenge any golfer. Everyone involved in each tournament has access to free clinics, which will cover topics ranging from basic fundamentals all the way through advanced technique.

Another great feature of these events is their commitment to providing affordable entry fees as well as discounts for groups and corporate sponsorships–so you don’t have to worry about breaking your budget if you want to get out there on the green. Each tournament promises tons of prizes for first-place finishers in every division as well as special recognition awards for those who exceed expectations over the weekend.

With more than ten different events running from mid February through late October, this tour provides plenty of opportunities for both newcomers and seasoned pros alike – so it’s time to gear up and start booking your tee times.

One of the premier golf tours in West Florida is the West Florida Golf Tour. Spanning a wide variety of courses, from small municipal links to championship-level greens, the West Florida tour provides players with an unparalleled experience.

This tour takes place over the course of four days and three nights and offers a combination of competitive play and social events such as dinners, networking opportunities, and awards ceremonies. With multiple levels available for those who are new to tournament play or experienced pros alike, participants can choose their level of competition based on comfortability. Players will need to register in advance and bring all necessary gear including clubs, balls, tees and other accessories. Depending on what level you sign up for there may also be fees associated with joining the tour itself as well as individual rounds on different courses.

The tour route often visits some of the top golfing destinations in Western Florida such as Panama City Beach Golf Course or Riverwood Golf Club & Resort located in Estero. These stops allow for scenic coastal views that make each round enjoyable no matter how challenging it may be – just don’t forget your camera. All participants will have access to exclusive deals throughout the area which they can use while they enjoy some downtime between tournaments or post-round drinks at local bars/restaurants close by each venue.

Golf tournaments are an exciting part of the West Florida Golf Tour Schedule. Every year, local and international golfers come together to compete in these prestigious events. Players can battle it out over 18 holes on some of the most beautiful courses available, with stunning views across the surrounding countryside. Competitors strive to make their mark on each course, setting records and achieving personal goals along the way.

A variety of different formats are used throughout the tour’s tournament schedule, from singles and doubles matches, to team scrambles and foursomes. Some tournaments even provide players with challenges that require mental skills as well as physical ones. Participants have a chance to interact with other players in a friendly but competitive environment – perfect for those who are passionate about golf and keen to take part in something special!

Every tournament is planned with great detail by organisers; aiming to provide an unbeatable experience for all involved. With fantastic prizes up for grabs as well as awesome entertainment during breaks between rounds, golfers are sure to get their money’s worth when they attend one of these events. If you’re looking for a fun and competitive day out where you can test your skills against some of the best golfers around – then look no further than the West Florida Golf Tour Schedule.

Golfing in West Florida is a wonderful activity that caters to all skill levels. With an abundance of courses to choose from, golfers of every ability will find something that suits their needs. A great way to experience the many courses available in this region is with a West Florida Golf Tour Schedule. This organized tour allows you to plan out your golfing experiences and take advantage of the best times and locations for each course.

A typical schedule begins on Friday morning, giving golfers enough time to get settled into the area before hitting the links. The first stop on the tour is usually at one of the most popular venues in the region, followed by other well-known public or semi-private courses over the weekend and early weekdays. Each day includes 9 holes, allowing for plenty of time for relaxation after playing each round and sightseeing in between rounds as desired.

If there’s room in your budget (and schedule.) Some packages also include two 18-hole rounds on weekends which provide a much more comprehensive look at these beautiful courses. The aim is always towards providing those taking part with an unforgettable experience that they can recall fondly long after they complete their trip back home!

Golfer rankings on the West Florida Golf Tour can provide an interesting perspective into who is playing well in the region. The tour has several tournaments throughout the year, and the leaderboard at the end of each competition keeps track of which golfers are performing their best. According to tour rules, all players must participate in a minimum of seven tournaments during a season to be eligible for final standings and any associated prizes. Each golfer’s score for each tournament is then used to calculate their ranking for that particular event as well as overall standings for the season.

At the conclusion of a tournament, rewards can include cash prizes, sponsorships from equipment companies, or points earned towards other regional or national events. Professional players may have access to additional benefits such as television appearances and endorsements. Aspiring amateurs hoping to improve their game may find looking at golfer rankings informative and inspiring when it comes to judging individual performance over time on a given course or throughout a series of competitions.

Top ranked golfers tend to share some common traits including focus and discipline both on and off the course combined with taking a strategic approach when selecting clubs prior to teeing off. Despite occasional highs & lows throughout matches, they consistently demonstrate excellent control over their swings while keeping up with group play due to high levels of accuracy in ball placement relative to par scores laid out by tournament organizers. All this combines together make elite competitors formidable opponents that are difficult – if not impossible – defeat no matter how strong an adversary’s skillset might be.

If you are planning a golf outing in West Florida, one of the most important components to consider is your tee time. Scheduling the proper time will give you enough room to leisurely play through every course and take in all the beauty that nature has to offer.

The best way to determine your tee times is to book a package with an experienced tour operator in West Florida. These companies have been providing golfing services for years and know exactly what it takes to guarantee an enjoyable round without overbooking or overcrowding any particular course. You can expect up-to-date information on which courses are available during your intended vacation dates, as well as their exact starting times. Many of these operators also provide discounted packages that may include accommodations, meals, beverages, club rentals and more.

Before booking with a tour operator though, make sure to call ahead for availability and confirm that everyone who wishes to participate has access – you don’t want anyone feeling left out due to too full courses or limited slots. Also be sure that your group has plenty of time between courses so that no member feels rushed during their game; nothing ruins a good round faster than having someone constantly waiting for the hole-in-one shot. Verify if additional fees apply such as those for late cancelation or advanced reservations before committing fully – this helps prevent any unexpected surprises after finalizing your trip plans.

West Florida offers a variety of challenging and picturesque golf courses perfect for seasoned and aspiring players alike. Set in the beautiful state’s lush landscape, these courses provide stimulating courses filled with sand traps, water hazards, rolling hills, undulating greens and other challenging obstacles. Picking the right course for your skill level is important to ensure an enjoyable round as you traverse some of the state’s most unique terrain.

From championship layouts to seaside holes with waves crashing in the distance, there are plenty of options available throughout West Florida sure to appease any golfer. Whether you have aspirations of making it on tour or just want to get out on the links for a relaxing round after work, suitable choices can be found at nearly every turn.

The region also serves as home to numerous prestigious tournaments annually including The Valspar Championship at Innisbrook Resort’s Copperhead Course as well as World Golf Tour Match Play Championship at TPC Sawgrass’ Players Stadium Course where winners include Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods respectively. This makes West Florida an ideal place to test your skills while enjoying breathtaking landscapes and wildlife views that will stay in your memory long after you complete your round.

Golf is an increasingly competitive sport that rewards big payouts for successful players. Prize money for golf tournaments in West Florida have been steadily rising as more top-tier professionals become a part of the local field. Many golf courses in this region offer sizable amounts of money to their winners, which can be well into six figures.

In addition to regular season prize money offered at each tournament, some events feature cash bonuses if certain conditions are met. For instance, many professional tournaments will reward an eagle with extra funds and super majors may even award extra bonus points on a player’s final score card if they sink a hole-in-one or two on select holes during the tournament.

Many amateur golfers may also benefit from participating in the various tourneys being held throughout West Florida. Along with prize money at stake, amateurs often receive highly sought after merchandise such as apparel and equipment from sponsors associated with these competitions. Amateur participants typically get VIP access to exclusive hospitality suites and the opportunity to practice rounds before professional play begins on Thursday morning.

A Mini-Tour Primer

Everything you need to know about a dozen circuits, small and smaller.

west florida tour golf

The mini-tour landscape changed massively in 2012, when the PGA Tour introduced its international tours in Latin America, Canada and China (no longer operating). Those tours took players and money overseas, leaving the mini-tours in the States floundering. The two big mini-tours at the time, Egolf and Hooters, soon folded or were sold, and in their place, a lot of small tours popped up. These tours appear and often vanish just as quickly.

If you are turning pro, looking for a place to test your game or just a golf nerd like me, here are a dozen mini-tours that are operating in the United States.

All Pro Tour

Format: 72 holes

Entry fee: $950 for members; $1,350 for non-members (A season-long membership is $1,500)

Average field size: 100-plus, with bigger events getting almost 200

Geographic area:  Central U.S. mostly

Purse size: $ 100,000-$175,000; the fall season features three-day events with purses averaging around $50,000

Website: APT | All Pro Tour

Fun fact: Defending Masters champion Scottie Scheffler played three events, with a best finish of T-5, in preparation for Q school in 2018.

Dakotas Tour

Format: 54 holes

Entry fee: $840

Average field size: 60-75

Geographic area:  North and South Dakota

Purse size: $50,000-$70,000K

Website: The Dakotas Tour - Professional Golf - Professional Golf In The Midwest

Fun facts: The Dakotas Tour is largely considered the best economical option in mini-tour golf. Events often offer host housing for the players, and the pro-am format makes the purses player-friendly, meaning players collect a larger percentage of the money taken in than most other tours.

The G Pro Tour

Entry fee: $920-$1,165

Average field size: 80

Geographic area: North and South Carolina and Georgia

Purse size: $50,000-$75,000; one event last season offered $93,000

Website: GProTour (thegprotour.com)

Fun fact: When Brendon Todd was struggling with the full-shot yips, he played multiple events on the GPro Tour to work on his game.

Asher Tour (former Golden State/Outlaw Tour)

Entry fee: $750-$1,350; some are two-day/36-hole events

Average field size: 50-70; some of their bigger events have well over 100

Geographic area:  Arizona and California

Purse size: $30,000-$40,000; $100,000 for bigger events

Website: HOME (ashertour.com)

Fun fact: The Asher Tour runs one of the few events in which the winner gets an exemption into a PGA Tour event. The winner of the Reno Open, in late May, receives a spot in golf's fifth major, the Barracuda Championship.

Emerald Coast Tour

Entry fee: $700-$850

Average field size: 25-40

Geographic area: Florida, Alabama and Mississippi

Purse size: $15,000-$20,000

Website: Home (emeraldcoasttour.com)

Fun fact : Doug Barron was playing on this tour prior to Monday-qualifying for, and winning, a Champions Tour event in 2019. He has since added a second victory on the senior circuit.

Rolling Red Tour

Format: 36 holes

Entry fee: $729-$869

Average field size: 20-30

Geographic area:  Southern U.S.

Purse size: $7,000-$10,000

Website: Rolling Red Golf Tour

Fun fact: The tour also hosts an 18-hole shootout, so players have two events in which they can cash.

Florida Pro Tour

Entry fee: $300-$450

Average field size: 30-90

Geographic area: Florida

Purse size: $5,000-$20,000; its biggest event last season had an $85,000 purse

Website: Home - Florida Professional Golf Tour (fpgtour.com)

Fun fact: In the 2017 season, mini-tour legend Kevin Alywin started with three wins and two runner-up finishes. He won the money title that year with more than $29,000, nearly triple the total of the player in second.

The BO Tour

Entry fee: $200-$700

Average field size: 20-35; a few have had upwards of 60

Geographic area: Southern California

Purse size: $3K-$20K

West Florida Tour

Format: 18 or 36 holes

Entry fee: $230-$950, the latter for 36-hole events

Average field size: 45-plus

Geographic area: West Florida

Purse size: $10,000-$20,000

Website: Welcome to WFGT (westfloridagolftour.com)

Fun fact: Christian Bartolacci has owned the West Florida Tour for 12 years and is largely a one-man operation. A PGA member, he handles registration, course setup and rules.

Minor League Golf Tour

Entry fee: $235-$525

Average field size: 30, but some of the bigger events approach 100

Geographic area: South Florida

Purse size:   $5,000-$20,000

Website: Professional Golf Tours - Mini Tours - Developmental Golf Tours - Women's Golf Tours (minorleaguegolf.com)

Fun fact: Sunny Kim, who has become a cult hero among the golf nerd population, has 86 wins and has earned more than $337,000 on this tour.

Moonlight Tour

Entry fee: $120-$350

Average field size: 15-30

Website: Mobi | Hybrid Template (ogatour.org)

Fun fact: The Moonlight Tour has been around for over 20 years, and PGA Tour veteran Patrick Sheehan has racked up more than 300 victories.

Carolina Mountain Tour

The FSGA launched the Florida Junior Tour in 2004 to benefit junior golfers throughout the state. Each year, the FJT organizes and conducts more than 40 high-quality, affordable competitions throughout Florida for boys and girls aged 9-18 years old.

All of the FJT tournaments are nationally ranked and the winners from each tournament earn exemptions into the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA).

The FJT is a favorite among college coaches. Nearly all college coaches use the website as a recruiting tool and many of them regularly attend FJT tournaments and are in contact with our staff.

A very high percentage of FJT players move on to play collegiate golf with many of them receiving a college golf scholarship. Some of our former players include: Brooks Koepka (PGA Tour; Major Champion), Daniel Berger (PGA Tour), Vicky Hurst (LPGA), Lexi Thompson (LPGA), Bud Cauley (PGA Tour), Bobby Gates (PGA Tour), Blayne Barber (PGA Tour), Sam Horsfield (European Tour), Lindy Duncan (Curtis Cup), Erica Popson (Curtis Cup), and Ben An (US Amateur Champion).

Future of Golf Foundation

The FSGA funds the Future of Golf Foundation to provide college scholarships to junior golfers and employees of member clubs and their dependents. The Foundation also assists junior golfers with travel expenses to national championships. Each year the Foundation awards more than $90,000 in scholarships and grants. Course Reviews

The best courses you can play in Florida

Florida golf gets a bad rap—it’s predominantly flat and uninteresting. Across 1,450-plus courses (including nine-holers), there are definitely some tired if not monotonous layouts. The courses on this list, though, belong in a separate category.

We used the most recent evaluations from our current  America’s 100 Greatest and Best in State rankings to determine the best courses you can play in Florida. We stopped this list at 30 courses but could’ve easily went to 50.

There’s a reason Florida is the most popular destination for golfers residing in northern states—and not just because it has the most golf out of any state. There’s some damn good golf—you just have to know where to look. There's a newcomer on this list as well— The Park West Palm , which hosted the most recent iteration of The Match, is receiving very strong reviews from our panelists , so expect to see it as a mainstay on lists like these for a long time.

Scroll on to learn more about each of these courses and read reviews from our course-ranking panelists. We hope you enjoy our new, searchable course database of Course Reviews .

Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Club & Lodge: Challenger/Champion

Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Club & Lodge: Challenger/Champion

Orlando, fl.

From Golf Digest Architecture Editor emeritus Ron Whitten :

I've always been fascinated by the design of Bay Hill, Arnold Palmer's home course for over 45 years (although Tiger Woods owns it, competitively-speaking, as he's won there eight times.) For one thing, it's rather hilly, a rarity in Florida (although not in the Orlando market) and dotted with sinkhole ponds incorporated in the design in dramatic ways.

I always thought the wrap-around-a-lake par-5 sixth was Dick Wilson's version of Robert Trent Jones's decade-older 13th at The Dunes Club at Myrtle Beach. Each of the two rivals had claimed the other was always stealing his ideas. But the hole I like best at Bay Hill is the par-4 eighth, a lovely dogleg-right with a diagonal green perched above a small circular pond. Okay, I admit that it reminds me of the sixth at Hazeltine National, another Trent Jones product, but I don't think Wilson picked Trent's pocket on this one, as both courses were built about the same time, in the early 1960s.

The Park West Palm

The Park West Palm

West palm beach, fl.

In the current age of new elite private clubs and faraway destination resorts, the opening of a public municipal-affiliated golf course in an urban area is major news—especially when Tiger Woods shows up for the grand opening, like he did in March 2023. The Park is the latest in a growing trend of public/private partnerships that have fueled the redevelopment of numerous municipal courses around the country. The new course is set on the site of the former Dick Wilson-designed West Palm Beach Golf Course, one of the first notable designs of the post-World War II years when it opened in 1947 and long considered among the top municipal courses in the country. That course closed in 2018 due to deteriorating playability and diminished interest and sat fallow for several years. Several plans for different uses of the land were proposed before a group of local citizens, led in part by Seth Waugh, CEO of the PGA of America, raised $56 million in individual donations to re-imagine the property as a community gathering space with a number of amenities.  Read Derek Duncan's full piece here.

The Ocean Course might have a much different reputation in the world of golf had it hosted the Ryder Cup, which it was scheduled to do in 1939 before it was cancelled due to World War II. Ponte Vedra Inn & Club’s Ocean course—though a bit of a misnomer since there are no ocean views—is a unique and creative routing with high shot options and impeccable conditioning. This is a very demanding test with the wind being very prevalent. The greens are somewhat forgiving, as if they were too demanding with the potential weather conditions, this would be nearly impossible to score. An absolute gem and must play if you gain access through the five-star hotel.

Jazz janewattananond earns $98 at florida mini-tour event.

  • Will Gray ,

janewattananond_1920_players20_pitch.jpg

Mini-tour life can be a crapshoot, even for one of the best players in the world.

Thailand’s Jazz Janewattananond can attest. Janewattananond was ranked No. 39 in the world when the rankings froze in March, a standing that qualified him to make his Masters debut in November. He won four times last year in Asia and added a T-14 finish at the PGA Championship when he played in the penultimate group during the final round at Bethpage.

But Monday he was a far cry from the PGA Tour, instead serving as the main attraction at a one-day event on the West Florida Golf Tour.

“Everybody’s first question was, ‘What did Jazz shoot? What did Jazz shoot?’” said WFGT executive director Christian Bartolacci. “I think the players, a lot of guys told me they wanted to play just to see how they would go up against him.”

The WFGT took April off from competition in accordance with Florida’s stay-at-home orders, but with the state entering the initial phase of re-opening this week they were back in action at the Ritz-Carlton near Sarasota while adhering to various guidelines. Headlining the 78-man field was Janewattananond, who according to Bartolacci has spent much of the PGA Tour’s coronavirus hiatus with former Tour winner Daniel Chopra in Orlando. The two have been regularly practicing, and Chopra is a frequent WFGT participant.

“Neither of them had played the course,” Bartolacci said. “I thought it was pretty neat, they bought a yardage book and they drove the golf course in the morning before they teed off. They wanted to see what it was like, and then they went out and played.”

Janewattananond turned in a solid round of 1-under 71, but even against regional competition that wasn’t enough to break even - without including the yardage book purchase. His non-member entry fee for the one-day event was $260, and for a seven-way T-21 finish he got back only $98.57. Chopra made $305 for a T-11 finish after shooting 68, while Korn Ferry Tour member Jimmy Stanger won the event and $2,000 in a playoff after shooting an 8-under 64.

Bartolacci said Janewattananond expressed interest in potentially returning for another event with the PGA Tour still at least five weeks away from resuming competition.

“It just shows that there’s a lot of good players out there,” Bartolacci said. “With Jazz, obviously his mindset is a little bit different than those players. He wants to win, he wants to play well. But he’s also got Colonial in a month. He’s using this just to kind of stay sharp.”
