Despite the long running drought and the insane heat this summer, our late September stay at Buena Vista was great. I think we were the only RV camping this weekend that wasn't longer term so it was super quiet. We pulled up and immediately had ostrich checking us out. The kids loved it. RV pad was gravel but pretty level. There's no shade but if the trees at each site survive it will eventually provide some relief. The site has water, electric, your own dump drain and a picnic table. The bathrooms were clean with showers and laundry facilities. The youngest enjoyed the play area and we all liked the petting zoo area. The driving safari was fun. We went early so it was still cool and the animals we're still active. We saw pretty much everything that was on the brochure except the watusi. Yes, the land is suffering due to the drought and heat but that is all of central Texas right now. The animals all looked healthy and had multiple water sources available. Plus lots of babies! The baby bison, including a nearly white one, were super cute. The adults were impressive. We had a very inquisitive ostrich who reached through the window to take a whole bag of food! I grabbed it back but it was pretty hilarious. He knows the system! As do the llamas. We did a second drive through around 4pm and the heat had driven most of the animals to the shade but we did get better views of the wildebeest and more attention from all the bison. That evening we dropped in to the community room and played pool and some board games. Yes, some of the items are hard worn and need replacing, but for kids it was still plenty fun. The woman working the front desk was super friendly and helpful. Overall, we'll worth the hour or so drive here to get away for the weekend. Almost anything you need you can get from a dollar store about a mile away.

We're from Louisiana I come here to visit my aunt in a nursing home in Goldthwaite This is a wonderful place to stay. We brought our two dogs. They loved it. They kind of freaked out at the ostriches, but it was really funny. The sites are clean there's dumping and garbage these are full hook up sites. We had a wonderful two days here the people here are wonderful And the area is so clean. I would highly recommend this. This campground deserves every star it could possibly get.

Very few animals and none of them would even come near the vehicle. Most of the animals ran in the other direction when they saw people or vehicles. Nothing like the other Safaris we have been to. Seemed like a waste of money after going to other ones.

Enjoyed this place while toting my 7-year old niece around in the 105 degree heat. We had the park to ourselves and despite all of the animals hiding in the shade, we were able to see 90% of them!

We stayed the weekend in the red stag cabin. The cabin was so cute and clean, we easily slept 2 adults and 4 kids. There was so much kid friendly things to do that our kids were never bored! All the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. My kids loved the petting zoo and to be able to look out and see all the exotic animals. Overall we had a fantastic weekend we will be back!

I am so excited to tell you about this campground! Dave and I saw a video on You Tube, showing a young couple visiting here. This is the first time I've ever been to Texas and this state keeps growing on me! At first when we went through Houston,I was disillusioned with all the traffic and construction. The further we got the more I started to appreciate the changing landscape. I'm so use to beautiful green and flowering Florida. So when I saw the RV campgrounds here, I felt sort of let down. They are sandy, very little greenery and almost seem like a parking lot. This one is so different! As you drive up you see a wide expanse that looks like a farm with Buffalo and all kind of animals. We drove in and Dave bought tickets for the Safari. He was handed to large cups of food to feed the animals. We drove into the Safari and were greeted by hungry borros. They came right up next to the truck. As we made our way through the hilly rocky Mesa, we saw all,different animals, Longhorns, Dall Sheep, Zebras, Ostriches and a herd of Blackbucks that crossed the road in front of us. The road curves and you go higher and higher until you get a breath taking view of a valley below. There is also a petting zoo, a playground for the kids, cabins, places to barbecue and fire pits. Thank you Buena Vista Wildlife Safari for entertaining these two seniors lol!

Welcome to Texas!! We are so happy that we could start to change your mind about our beautiful, and VERY diverse, State! We love our animals and our guests, and hope you will be able to come back to visit us!

This RV park is amazing and we can't wait to come back. We woke up this morning and we were greeted with Buffalo right at the fence. How great is that! The park is very quiet. Great rec area with pool table. Plenty of seating areas and games. Horseshoe area, fire pit area and corn hole games. Our dog highly approves of the large dog park that is right next to the safari. Great walking trail that is beautiful this time of year with the spring flowers. Everyone here is also very friendly.

Thank you for visiting and taking time to respond. We love happy animals and happy guests. We also appreciate you posting a photo of our newly shorn Angora Goat, which receive shearings bi-annually in October and April. ;). We can't wait for you to come back and visit!!

Where do I start.... We pulled in with our RV only to find the RV spots are not paved as described, they were all gravel. My daughter had high hopes for going fishing, well that wasn't gonna happen. See pic. The pond was dried up and it smells like poop. You can't advertise there's fishing when there's not fishing. Smh we did love the animals but were extremely saddened by some of their appearances. The rabbit was in a tiny cage with wire footing. Pen looks like it hasn't been cleaned in months if not longer. I have a pet rabbit and that's NOT ok. The goats/sheep backends were covered in poop and they haven't been sheered in idk how long. Very sad to see. You come to these places to get away and relax. The condition of some of the animals completely saddened my family and myself. Won't be going back.

We are sorry you did not have a great time at Buena Vista. While we certainly don't want to contradict your personal experience, we'd like to provide more information so other guests reading your review won't be confused. We do have concrete patios at every RV site, as advertised on our website. The parking area for the RVs is indeed gravel. The fishing hole is extremely low right now - as you know, Central Texas is in the middle of a drought. However, we are in the process of lining the pond and making upgrades so that it will hold water even during the driest of times. We have photos on this page of the very large hutch for Stormy, the rescue rabbit. She was left by a family in a tiny cage on a front porch during a storm. She has seemed quite content in her large, two-story hutch since she came to BV. Her area is cleaned weekly. As you know, rabbits are fastidious. She has one "bathroom" location in her hutch, so of course there is going to be excrement there unless the cage was JUST cleaned. However, she has plenty of room to move waaay away from the bathroom. Finally, the Angora goats are shorn twice yearly - in October and in April. Indeed, you visited just before the bi-annual shearing. The little guy you posted a photo of is George. He was a bottle baby, is MUCH LOVED, just turned two, and, we assure you, is very well cared for. It is true that goats often have feces that accumulates on their back end, especially when their mohair is long. Did you know that Angoras grow fine, silky, ringlets of hair up to 8-10 inches longevery six months?! The hair, called "mohair," is coveted, but also prolific! I am so sorry that you were saddened when you visited. We assure you that we, like you, are huge animal lovers! Our animals are fat, healthy, a tad spoiled, and very loved. Thank you for your concern.

We made it to our RV Park in Evant, Texas. Here for two nights then down a little further for Winter!! Loving Texas! It's called Buena Vista Wildlife Safari & RV Park. They are a very new Park opened in 2/2019! Attached to their park they have a Wildlife Safari Park & it was so fun to drive through it! We saw Emu, several species of deer, zebra, bison, several species of goats & sheep. Watusi cows which are like longhorn & they were there too!! So fun! The sites for your RV are very long & wide. Cement area with a picnic table at each site. Big outdoor covered Pavilion, bathhouse & inside area for games! They also have four darling cabins!! Plus they take Passport America which is half the price of the original cost! $20 a night the Safari drive through was $15 Love this place!

Loved everything about this experience!! The Wildlife Safari was amazing; bison, camels, zebras, ostriches, so many types of deer and the cutest miniature donkeys!! The facilities were extremely clean, clubhouse cozy and great dog park area for my babies!!

Driving Directions:

Drive north on Hwy 281 for 25 miles out of Lampasas. Buena Vista is located on your left (west side of 281) just before you get into the town of Evant. Look for the big bison statutes!

Brand New Drive Through Safari with an adjoining RV Park and adorable Cabins for rent! Buena Vista opened in 2019, offering a resort-style destination just 25 minutes north of Lampasas. Facilities include a Clubhouse with a huge covered back porch (available for rent for private parties, birthdays, events, etc.). Clean bathhouse with laundry facilities is available for RV and Cabin Guests. A Petting Zoo provides endless entertainment for kids and adults alike. A natural playground, fort, and volleyball net are onsite. There are grills, firepits, a catch-and-release fishing pond, and lots of space to roam.

Found this place while browsing for somewhere to escape for the weekend during the COVID lockdown. Location is a couple years old and really nice. Full hookups and great free WiFi service. All the RV and camping amenities, very clean and well maintained. The drive through safari is an extra $15 per car and worth it. Highly recommend this place.

“Great place to watch the eclipse with friends. Staff was extremely helpful.”

We had a level back in site that overlooked part of the safari. Some mornings it is antelope or long horn cattle or bison or ostriches out back. Wide sites, easy walk to bath house & laundry. Nice dog We camped at Buena Vista Wildlife Safari and RV Park in a Motorhome.

RV park, cabins, petting zoo, club house (full kitchen), dog park, and wildlife park. Flat full service sites. Both backin and pull through. Small trees at each site. We camped at Buena Vista Wildlife Safari and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Evant TX has limited restaurant and grocery options. Hamilton TX is about 28 miles and has more options....

We invite you to visit Buena Vista Wildlife Safari located in Evant, the Crossroads of Texas! Evant is centrally located at the junction of Highways 281 and 84. We are an hour from Waco, 1½ hours from Austin, and 2 hours from DFW. Once a thriving farming community, Evant had slowly dwindled to a pass-through town between Hamilton and Lampasas. But now, with the involvement of the entire community, Evant is becoming a full family destination.

In Evant, you can stop, shop and stay with a purpose. After you spend time with the animals, take a short drive downtown and visit locally owned stores featuring art, woodwork, boutiques, antiques, home goods, baked goods, and more. Come visit area wineries, catch the local rodeo or attend the Pearl Bluegrass Jam and Stage Show. Whatever you choose to do, we know you’ll love Evant & The Buena Vista Wildlife Safari.

A deposit for the first night’s stay is collected at the time of purchase.

The deposit is refunded (minus a $10 fee) if cancel 8 or more days in advance.

Rules & regulations

RV, CABIN, BUNKHOUSE OR TENT CHECK-IN PROCEDURE:

1) Your rental of an RV / Tent site or Cabin or Bunkhouse serves as your consent to the release listed below.

2) Print or keep a digital copy of your receipt.

3) All rental units are located at the Safari (1830 S. US Hwy 281, Evant, Texas 76525) EXCEPT the Bunkhouse. The Bunkhouse is located 1/2 mile north of the Safari on Highway 281 (1058 S. US Hwy 281, Evant, Texas 76525). To check-in to the Bunkhouse, you will need to come to the Safari office during office hours, or make arrangement for the keys as listed in #5, below.

4) When you arrive, pull to the right of the Safari office and park to come in the office. Your rental serves as authorization for Buena Vista to charge any balance due at the time of your arrival to the credit card you have on file.

5) FOR AFTER HOURS BUNKHOUSE or CABIN CHECK-IN, YOU MUST CALL THE OFFICE TO MAKE ARRANGEMENT FOR THE KEYS BEFORE THE SAFARI OFFICE CLOSES!! You may find the seasonal office hours on the website here: https://www.buenavistawildlifesafari.com/hoursandinfo. (Failure to make contact with staff will result in your not being able to get into your house or cabin when you arrive!)RV, CABIN, and BUNKHOUSE RULES:

• You must show a photo ID if asked.

• CHECK-INs. RV Check-in is 2 PM and check-out is 1 PM. Bunkhouse and Cabin Check-in is 3 PM and check-out is 11 AM.

• DEPOSITS AND REFUNDS. Your deposit is your first night's stay. If reservation cancelled 8 or more days in advance, $10 cancellation fee and balance refunded to credit card. If reservation cancelled 7 or fewer days in advance, forfeit the deposit.

• SITE OCCUPANCY. One RV per campsite. Tents allowed at RV and Cabin sites for paying guests.

• SMOKING, ALCOHOL, AND ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES. All houses, cabins and buildings strictly non-smoking. Two designated areas for smoking or vaping. No cigarette butts on the ground. No public intoxication or disorderly conduct. No illegal substances.

• PETS. All breeds welcome. Dog park on site. Pets must be on leash. May require guest to remove misbehaving or threatening pet. No pets in the Safari. No pets in Red or Blue cabins or other buildings. Pets welcome in Bunkhouse and Orange Cabin. Pets must be on a leash. Please clean up after your pets.

• RESTROOMS AND SHOWERS. All buildings are OPEN at this time. Bathhouse and Showers are for paying guests only (Cabin, RV, or Tent Guests). Laundry facilities available on site.

• LAUNDRY FACILITIES. Coin operated washers and dryers available at Safari. Washer and Dryer included in Bunkhouse. Hanging laundry on a line is strictly prohibited everywhere.

• QUIET HOURS. 10 p.m. – 8 a.m.

• FIRES. Allowed in designated fire pits only. Firewood for sale at office. No cutting of vegetation. Charcoal grills provided at cabins and Event Center. May bring personal propane firepits and grills. Extinguish all fires.

• TRASH. Do not leave unconsumed food out. Place all trash in dumpster. DO NOT PUT ANY BURNING OBJECT IN THE DUMPSTER - YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL COSTS FROM A DUMPSTER FIRE!

• SECURITY. Buena Vista does not provide security to guard RVs, cabins, bunkhouse, or other personal property. The Park assumes no responsibility for injury, damage, or loss to property.

• AMENITIES. Safari tickets are not included in price of unit rentals. Rental of the Bunkhouse entitles you to all amenities on the Safari grounds (petting zoo, fishing hole, playground, seasonal swimming hole, etc.).

Violators of any of these rules are subject to immediate dismissal from the Park and/or a fine of up to $250 per day. You are responsible for leaving your accommodation in the same condition (with normal usage) as you found it when you arrived. We will hold the registered guest responsible for any and all damages found during and after your departure. We will send you an itemized invoice of the damage and will charge your credit card appropriately.

SAFARI CHECK-IN PROCEDURE:

1) Your purchase of Safari tickets serves as your consent to the release listed below.

3) When you arrive, you can either pull straight forward and stop at the first window of the office ("Drive-Up"), or pull to the right and come inside the office.(A) If you would like Feed and Brochures, our Manager will assist you. (B) If you would prefer NOT to interact with a person, please hold a copy of your receipt or digital device against your window and wait for our Manager's verification.

With my purchase, I acknowledge that I have received a copy of the rules and restrictions for Buena Vista Wildlife Safari and RV Park, and agree to abide by them for myself, my guests, and each minor accompanying me. I understand that wild animals are not within the control of the management, and I understand and agree that Buena Vista Wildlife Safari and RV Park is not liable for damage to vehicles, other personal property, or injury to myself, my guests, my children, or any other person which may result from interactions with animals or use of any portion of the property or facilities; and I hereby waive the right to make any claim whatsoever for such damages or injuries to myself, my guests, my children, minors under my care or direction accompanying me, property, or others; and I RELEASE and agree to INDEMNIFY Buena Vista Wildlife Safari and RV Park from any such claims.

SAFARI RULES:

• All buildings are OPEN at this time (including public restrooms).

• Stay in your vehicle at all times.

• Vehicle doors closed. Tops up on convertibles. Side doors on Jeeps.

• No riding in back of pickups.

• Do not feed anything other than that provided by Buena Vista.

• Toss the food on the ground for animals.

• Do not allow animals to put head inside vehicle.

• Do not honk horn.

• 5 mph speed limit.

• Do not feed in areas marked NO FEED zones.

• No pets inside the Safari.

• Remove loose items from vehicle.

• Do not litter. No cigarette butts or fire hazards.

• Call 254.791.5441 if you have an emergency or vehicle trouble.
