Taylor Swift Vancouver Concert 2015 at BC Place - Taylor Swift 1989 Tour Vancouver Show Setlist

Taylor Swift launched her ‘1989 World Tour’ in May with two shows at the Tokyo Dome in Japan, and bringing a visual of New York City to life onstage for the opening performance.

The 25-year-old singer will make her way to Vancouver this weekend , for a nearly sold out show at BC Place on Saturday, August 1. Joining Taylor Swift will be Vance Joy , who has been touring alongside Swift since May.

Based off the latest 1989 tour reviews, Swift is expected to perform every song from her 1989 album, which has gone to sell 7 million copies since April – a jaw dropping number for an industry that is quickly seeing CD’s go extinct.

Setlist History: Taylor Swift Kicks Off The '1989' World Tour

1989 may have been Taylor Swift’s fourth album overall, but it was actually her very first pop album. Departing from her country roots, the singer-songwriter played around with synth sounds and pop friendly beats and it paid off. The album sold over a million copies in just its first week out. It dominated the Billboard charts and landed Taylor the Grammy for Album of the Year.

So it stands to reason that the tour that accompanied this album would be just as epic. Fans found out just how huge it was when The 1989 World Tour kicked off on May 2, 2015 at the Tokyo Dome in Japan.

The setlist was almost exclusively songs from 1989 , with 14 out of 18 songs from the album dominating the night. In Tokyo this meant there were plenty of live debuts: “New Romantics,” “I Wish You Would,” “How You Get the Girl,” “I Know Places,” “All You Had to Do Was Stay,” “You Are In Love,” “Clean,” “This Love” and “Bad Blood.”

The few previously released songs Taylor performed were remixed specifically for the tour to fit with the synth-pop feel of 1989 . “Love Story” and “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” notably were changed for the tour.

The actual show was broken up across eight “acts,” with a few songs featured in each. Back-up dancers, costume changes, floating platforms and more made up the stage show, though there was also time for Taylor alone on stage with a grand piano to perform a mash-up of “Enchanted” and “Wildest Dreams.” The show closed out with the album’s hit lead single “Shake It Off,” accentuated by fireworks and confetti.

That night in Tokyo was the start of something big. The tour went on to be a global success and was notable for featuring surprise songs and surprise guests at each of the dates. But none of it happens without Taylor herself setting the standard on that first date eight years ago at the kick off, with a brand new sound and a brand new show.

Taylor Swift's European Eras Tour leg kicked off in Paris with a new setlist. See which songs are in and out.

May 9, 2024 / 8:24 PM EDT / CBS/AFP

Taylor Swift fever struck Paris on Thursday as the highest-grossing tour in history finally arrived in Europe, with fans treated to the first-ever performance of songs from her latest album.

The Eras Tour began its European leg with four dates at the La Defense Arena in Paris.

"I wish I could have toured Europe more. This is a dream crowd," the 34-year-old megastar told the ecstatic audience.

There were deafening shrieks as images of typewriter sheets indicated that songs off the new album "The Tortured Poets Department" were starting late in the show.

Emerging in a lyrics-covered dress, she ran through several of the darker new tracks starting with "But Daddy I Love Him" and "Fortnight", a particularly furious rendition of "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?" and an elaborate "I Can Do it with a Broken Heart," with a golden-era Hollywood dance routine.

Other "The Tortured Poets Department" songs performed included "So High School," "Down Bad" and "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived," according to ETonline .

"You were the first crowd to see songs from 'The Tortured Poets Department'," she said, before adding: "Or, as I like to call it, 'Female Rage: the Musical.'"

That was a dream come true for many in the audience.

"I've been so excited for so long, I can't believe it's actually happening," said 11-year-old Emma, who had flown in with her mother from New York.

Adding songs from "The Tortured Poets Department" wasn't the only change to the show and its 45-song setlist.

Perhaps the biggest change, according to ETonline, is the "Folklore" and "Evermore" setlists were combined, cutting four songs across the two albums: "'Tis the Damn Season," "Tolerate It," "The 1" and "The Last Great American Dynasty."

"On the Eras Tour, we have now reunited the sisters, combined them into one chapter," Swift said, according to video posted to social media. "You can call it "Folklore, Evermore" or you can call it the Sister Albums! You can call it whatever you want as long as you promise to sing 'Champagne Problems' with me."

"The Archer" was removed from the "Lovers" portion of the show and "Long Live" was cut from the "Speak Now" era setlist, according to ETonline.

One of the secret songs was, fittingly, the "Midnights" bonus track "Paris."

Parts of the show were also rearranged to make room for the newest era. The "Red" era was moved from the fifth to the third slot, according to ETonline, and the newest album was introduced following the "1989" set.

The venue said a fifth of the crowd were from the United States — many attracted by Europe's rules against charging huge mark-ups on resale tickets that can save Americans thousands of dollars compared with shows at home.

Georg'Ann Daly decided to celebrate her 23rd birthday with the Paris show. It meant flying from Nashville to Chicago to London and catching the Eurostar to Paris.

"I've always been obsessed with Taylor Swift," she told AFP.

A handful of superfans camped out from Tuesday in Paris to ensure they got a prime spot.

"I didn't plan to, but I came to check it out and I saw the first tents and I panicked a little," said Chris, 30.

Noah, 20, is seeing all four Paris concerts — he used 22 email addresses to get through the lottery system and secure the tickets.

After wrapping up her run in Paris, Swift will head for dates in Sweden, Portugal, Spain, Britain, Ireland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Poland and Austria.

The Eras Tour has worked its way across North and South America and Asia since starting in March 2023.

By the end of the year, it had already become the first to sell more than $1 billion in tickets and is on track to more than double that by the time it concludes in Vancouver this December.

Swift's popularity shows no sign of dimming — the new album sold 1.4 million copies on its first day and broke every streaming record , reaching a billion streams on Spotify within five days.

Swift's tell-all dissections of her love stories have been the fuel powering her global domination, and fans have been poring over "The Tortured Poets Department" for cryptic clues about ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn, her short-but-dramatic fling with Matty Healy (lead singer of The 1975), and her current partner, American football star Travis Kelce.

"Taylor talks about toxic relationships, impossible love, politics, mental health, and so much more," said Chris as she waited by her tent for the big moment. "I think we can all find a song that resonates with our experiences."

What is the Eras Tour set list?

The Eras Tour has featured a massive 45-song set list you can check out here . But speculation is swirling it won't look the same when Swift takes the stage in Paris.

Will Taylor Swift add 'The Tortured Poets Department' to her set list?

The tortured poet has been on hiatus keeping her stamina up by releasing a double album of 31 tracks. The 2-hours-and-2-minutes project broke a number of Billboard records as the superstar did zero press to promote it. Fans flocked to stores and streaming services to listen to all the songs from "Fortnight" to "The Manuscript."

Although the singer has not confirmed whether her 11th era album will be added to her Eras Tour set list, she did post a YouTube shorts video with two scenes that sent Easter egg decoders into a frenzy. In one of the shots, the singer is next to a railing where a "TTPD" logo appears to be (at 0:11). In the succeeding shot, her back-up dancers perform holding canes and wearing top hats, something they have not worn previously.

Swift's dancers and bandmates posted to their Instagram stories as they left for France last week. The singer did not appear at two media events with her boyfriend Travis Kelce: the Kentucky Derby and a Formula 1 race in Miami , Florida. Patrick Mahomes, Kelce's friend and Kansas City's quarterback, attended the car racing spectacular with his wife, Brittany.

Can I still get Eras Tour tickets?

Swift's show is completely sold out in Europe and North America. There are resale sites with tickets, but be wary of scams. The best way to avoid getting swindled is continuously checking links on Swift's website . There are some for resale on the sites verified by her camp.

Singapore was a hotbed for fans who traveled thousands of miles only to get turned away at the venue. In Tokyo and Australia, last-minute ticket drops happened a few days — without announcement — ahead of the shows.

Miami, New Orleans and Indianapolis — the three U.S. cities Swift is visiting in the fall — have some of the heftiest price tags with Canada closely behind. In may be cheaper to travel to Warsaw, Poland, or Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Here's a list of cities with the cheapest resale tickets, according to travel website  Islands.com .

10. Vienna, Austria — total average cost: $1,089, safety score: 69.72

9. Cardiff, U.K. — total average cost: $1,061, safety score: 61.83

Who are the opening acts?

Paramore launched the Eras Tour in Glendale, Arizona, in March 2023, so it's fitting the American rock band is opening the tour's second year. The act will open for Swift for 51 shows across Europe . The band was dubbed the 2024 Record Store Day global ambassador and surprised fans in Nashville the weekend following the release of "The Tortured Poets Department."

When the tour comes back to North America in October , Swift's opening act will be Gracie Abrams.

Where can I watch if I don't have tickets?

The Eras Tour is one of the first tours that has been followed, globally, by thousands of fans on digital platforms. Fans dedicate part of their concert experience to livestreaming as Swift performs. A few Swifties have learned how to host their own shows over social media including Tess Bohne , known as the livestream queen. Bohne goes live for (almost) every show pulling streams from Instagram and TikTok. When a livestream goes down, she fills the time with banter.

On YouTube, user @TaylorSwiftHockeyBro also livestreams the three-hour show, and on Twitch, @folkleric , is a host fans follow.

There is also an app, Swift Alert , that notifies fans who only want to watch certain eras like the acoustic, surprise set. The app sends out push alerts if there are any major announcements.

What secret songs are left?

For the past 83 shows, Swift has played an acoustic set she customizes at each stop with a guitar and piano performance. In 2024, the Eras Tour star added mashups of her songs for each stop. Here are the songs she has yet to perform:

  • "Taylor Swift" (debut album): "Mary's Song" and "A Perfectly Good Heart"
  • "Fearless": "The Way I Loved You," "Change," "Superstar," "We Were Happy," "That's When," "Don't You" and "Bye Bye Baby"
  • "Red": "Girl At Home," "Ronan," "Forever Winter" and "Run"
  • "1989": "Sweeter Than Fiction"
  • "Reputation": "I Did Something Bad"
  • "Lover": "London Boy," "Soon You'll Get Better" and "It's Nice to Have a Friend"
  • "Folklore": "Hoax"
  • "Evermore": "Happiness" and "Closure"
  • "Midnights": "Paris" and "Glitch"
  • "The Tortured Poets Department": all 31 tracks

Will Taylor Swift perform in 2025?

There have been many rumors that Swift will continue her show in 2025, but they are only rumors. Nothing has been announced for next year, and as of now, the tour will end in Vancouver, British Columbia, on Dec. 8.

All the Changes Taylor Swift Made to the Eras Tour Following  The Tortured Poets Department  Release

Swift returned to the Eras Tour with her concert in Paris on May 9 and it included quite a few big changes to the setlist

1989 tour setlist vancouver

Taylor Swift is making some big changes with the Eras Tour .

Following a brief hiatus from the tour after her concerts in Singapore in March, the “ Fortnight ” singer returned to the stage on May 9 in Paris, France to kick off the tour's new leg.

After releasing her 11th studio album The Tortured Poets Department in April, many Swifties theorized that she might switch up the setlist to include new tracks from the album.

Swift seemingly teased changes to the tour in late April as she shared a behind-the-scenes look at her rehearsing, which appeared to include new costumes, microphones and performances. Further adding fuel the speculation, her dancers posted a video of them dancing to her new track “So Long, London” in early May.

In addition to adding The Tortured Poets Department to the setlist, Swift made a handful of other big changes to the Eras Tour, including many new costumes and new performances.

Read ahead for the biggest changes to the Eras Tour.

The Tortured Poets Department has been added to the intro

Kevin Mazur/TAS24/Getty

Swift first teased the addition of The Tortured Poets Department at the beginning of the show. To the intro, which features Swift naming all of her album titles, she added a clip of her singing the title track “ The Tortured Poets Department .” Additionally, fans noted that she added the lyric “What if I told you I’m back?” featured in the song “ The Alchemy ,” which fans have theorized is about her boyfriend Travis Kelce .

There are all-new costumes

Kevin Mazur/Getty

The singer debuted several new costumes during her Paris show. She kicked things off with her Lover set by donning a bright orange bodysuit as well as matching shoes and a blazer (all Versace) as she performed “The Man.”

As she transitioned into her Fearless era, she debuted a silver and black fringe dress, which is much more reminiscent of the dress she wore during her original Fearless Tour in 2009, and had a new gown for her Speak Now set.

Additionally, she wore a new shirt during her “22” performance, which read: “This is not Taylor’s Version" ( a new addition to the rotation ), which had fans speculating about what it could mean.

Her Folklore era also included a new yellow Alberta Ferretti dress while her 1989 set included a pink and green two-piece which gave fans vibes of Ariel’s outfit in The Little Mermaid (which was released in, you guessed it, 1989 and contains the line "Daddy, I love him!" — just like a song on TTPD ). The outfit also included one pink and one green shoe.

Meanwhile, her Reputation outfit stayed the same: a Roberto Cavalli catsuit which she has worn the entire tour.

Several songs have been cut

With the addition of songs from the new album, Swift cut a few tracks from the original setlist. Some of the most notable cuts include “The Archer” which previously ended the Lover era, “Long Live,” which was a more recent addition to the Speak Now set, and several Folklore and Evermore songs including “The Last Great American Dynasty" and “Tolerate It.”

There is a new order to the eras

Swift also reordered some of the eras. In the past, the Folklore era had followed her Red set, but in Paris she changed things up by having Speak Now directly follow her performance of Red' s “All Too Well.”

Another major change is that Folklore and Evermore are now combined into one set. As she sat at the piano to perform “Champagne Problems,” Swift explained that she always saw the two albums as part of a whole, with Folklore representing spring/summer and Evermore representing fall/winter. “On the Eras Tour, we have now reunited the sisters [and] combined them into one chapter,” she said , joking fans can call the new era “Folkmore” or “Everlore.”

The new order of the eras is as follows: Lover , Fearless , Red , Speak Now , Reputation , Folklore and Evermore (now combined), 1989 , The Tortured Poets Department , the acoustic set and Midnights .

There are new visuals

Additionally, there are several new visuals that pop up on the screen as Swift transitions from one set to the other. The Speak Now set includes what appears to be a visual of a flower blooming before two of Swift’s backup dancers appear on the stage for an intimate performance.

Following her Reputation set, the screen now features a visual of a black snake slithering into the woods, perfectly transitioning to her Folklore and Evermore eras.

She added The Tortured Poets Department to the setlist

One of the biggest changes is that Swift includes songs from her new album The Tortured Poets Department . Following the 1989 set, Swift appears on the stage wearing a white dress and clock necklace similar to the one she wore to the Grammys.

She plays a good amount of songs from the 31-track anthology during the set, with some of the most notable being “Down Bad,” “Fortnight" and “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” She also includes “So High School,” rumored to be about Kelce, during a quick transition between songs.

She ends the set with a show-stopping performance of “I Can Do It with a Broken Heart,” which includes many visual references to film's golden age — perhaps a nod to Clara Bow ? — including Swift's name on a marquee and dancers in top hats and canes.

During the show on Thursday, Swift announced she was condensing her “Evermore” and “Folklore” eras into a single “Folkmore” set.

OH TAYLOR COMBINED THE ERAS HERE WE GO CHAMPAGNE PROBLEMS SPEECH “I have always talked about folklore and evermore as sister albums… on the eras tour, we have reunited the sisters, combined them into one chapter, you can call it Folkmore, Everlore, you can call it whatever you… pic.twitter.com/UbaXDS5ALc — Taylor Swift Updates (@SwiftNYC) May 9, 2024

In order to make room for new “TTPD” material, the 34-year-old popstar cut several songs from various eras, including “The Archer,” “Long Live,” “Tolerate It,” “Tis the Damn Season,” “The Last Great American Dynasty,” “Mastermind” and “The 1.”

However, new “TTPD” additions featured “But Daddy, I Love Him,” “So High School,” “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me,” “Down Bad,” “Fortnight,” “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” and “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart,” for which she had an onstage costume change from a white dress into a glistening black two-piece .

Swift also donned a sparkling red bodysuit for the beginning of the show — instead of the pink-and-blue number she previously wore — and swapped in a black dress with metallic fringe for the “Fearless” portion of the performance.

New visuals during the show included Swift appearing to be abducted by aliens , and a scarier graphic of Swift’s face with hollowed-out eyes.

Later in the night, she surprised the audience with two more songs , including, of course, “Paris” from her “Midnights” album, which she performed on an acoustic guitar, and “loml” from “The Tortured Poets Department,” which she played on the piano.

Other changes in the evening included a new introduction to the concert that featured music from “TTPD,” and a shift in the order of her eras, with her “Red” album coming in an earlier part of the show.

As the surprises continued to roll, many fans took to social media to express their shock and awe at the revamped concert series.

“THE SMALLEST MAN WHO EVER LIVED AND SHE ADDED A DRUMMER’S MARCH AT THE BRIDGE ‘WERE YOU SENT BY SOMEONE?’ I AM CRYING” wrote one user.

“ Big round of applause to Taylor and her whole team for putting the TTPD era together. I haven’t picked my jaw up off the floor,” said another.

The songs from 'The Tortured Poets Department' that made the cut in Taylor Swift's revamped Eras Tour

Taylor Swift introduced "The Tortured Poets Department" to the Eras Tour in Paris on Thursday, dramatically revamping a set list that'd been relatively static for more than a year.

The Paris La Défense Arena show marked Swift's return to live performing, after her last gig March 9 in Singapore. It was her first time onstage since the April 19 release of "Poets."

Fans had been wondering whether and how "Poets" would be integrated into her setlist, which had been about 45 songs long and largely unchanged since she kicked off Eras in March 2023 in Glendale, Arizona .

In a video Swift recently posted to YouTube shorts , she showcased clips of what appeared to be rehearsals for the upcoming leg of the tour.

Fans were quick to point out costumes and props they hadn't seen before on the Eras Tour — including a short view of her dancers performing with hats and canes, as well as a quick glimpse of a barrier that appeared to show the "TTPD" logo.

That all but sealed the deal that Swift would be ushering in a new era, which came to life Thursday in Paris.

"Poets" made its "Eras" debut in the show's second half and included: "But Daddy I Love Him," "So High School, "Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?" "Down Bad," "Fortnight," "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived" and "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart."

The wild card of Swift's Eras shows has been a two-tune acoustic set when she performs two songs not normally included in the shows and speaks to her fans.

Those "surprise" songs that followed the "Poets" set Thursday were the aptly chosen "Paris" on guitar and "loml" on piano. Swift also took the time to tell fans that her nickname for the "TTPD" section is "female rage, the musical," to the crowd's cheers.

The timing of Swift's shows has been consistent all tour long, with performances usually lasting less than 3½ hours. So the "Poets" addition meant the subtractions of several fan favorites.

The first hint that changes were on the way came early in Paris as "The Archer," which had been the show's sixth song, went missing when Swift quickly transitioned from her "Lover" era to "Fearless."

Other Eras stalwarts that vanished Thursday were "Long Live" — added to the setlist after July's release of "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)" — "’Tis the Damn Season," "The Last Great American Dynasty,” “The 1” and “Tolerate It.”

Swift also changed up the order of eras, as her "Red" set — with the beloved, crowd pleasing "22," "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," "I Knew You Were Trouble" and the 10-minute-long "All Too Well" — moved up from sixth in the batting order to the No. 3 spot. All "Red" songs that been consistently played on the tour survived Thursday night's cuts.

After "Red" came "Speak Now" and then "Reputation," before Swift launched into her first-ever double-era set — combining sister albums “Folklore” and “Evermore.”

Swift used the European kickoff to usher in a host of wardrobe changes. She donned an orange-and-red bodysuit for "Lover" and a pink-and-blue skater skirt set for "1989" that echoed its original 2014 style.

There were dynamic new introductions for some of the eras, including new choreography before Swift took the stage for "Enchanted."

And when she called out the names of all of her albums before she launched into show opener, "Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince," she added "TTPD" to the discography.

Taylor Swift changes Eras Tour set list, adds 'Tortured Poets' songs

I f you didn't see Taylor Swift 's Paris news, because you were somewhere else, This Swift Beat has you covered. This is a free, weekly newsletter with the latest news about the singer.

Year 2 of the Eras Tour has begun, and the show is different. New outfits. New animations. New dance numbers. The changes are probably because you can watch Year 1 on Disney+ and also because Swift dropped her newest album, "The Tortured Poets Department," a little over a fortnight ago.

After cutting six songs and adding seven, Swift's new total is 46 tracks. To see the brand-new set list , click here .

Set list shake off

Forty-thousand-plus fans sashayed inside Europe's largest indoor stadium and oh my God, you should've seen their faces when Swift opened her 11th era with "But Daddy I Love Him." Fans knew something was changing after Swift started the opening animation with gray tornadic clouds. She then ended the "Lover" set with the title track, skipping over "The Archer."

Like the flashy orange jacket and "Lover" one piece, Swift had a brand-new "Fearless" dress. The set list for her second era remained the same, but instead of going into "Evermore" she jumped into "Red."

Swift's new "22" bedazzled shirt read: "This is not Taylor's Version."

"Speak Now" had a pristine animation of purple flowers blooming. Ralph Thomas (the "Tolerate It" performer who plays Swift's love interest) danced effortlessly with eight of Swift's ensemble donning flowy, purple gowns. He may have been chosen as the solo male for this role because his table number from "Evermore" was cut.

Once again, "Enchanted" remained the only song. "Long Live" didn't live that long.

Karyn, the "Reputation" snake, hissed her way back onto the stage with no significant changes to the sassy era's set list. There was an animation after "Look What You Made Me Do" that showed the black serpent slither her way into the Folklorian woods before disintegrating into blue magic orbs and disappearing in the moonlight.

Swift combined her two woodsy eras incorporating props from both "Folklore" and "Evermore."

“On the Eras Tour we have now reunited the sisters, combined them into one chapter,” she said. “You can call it whatever you want as long as you promise to sing ‘Champagne Problems’ with me.”

A new "Folklore" cottage rose as Swift sang the new opener for the chapter "Cardigan" from the mossy roof. Say so long to "Last Great American Dynasty" and "'Tis The Damn Season."

"1989" was next, and the crowd continued the "Blank Space" chant yelling "Paris" during the bridge as Swift's dancers hurlued golf clubs around their heads. She debuted a new pink and blue sparkling outfit with one boot of each color.

But instead of diving into the acoustic set, Swift cracked the spine on her fresh chapter "Tortured Poets."

"So you were the first crowd ever to see 'The Tortured Poets Department' chapter of the Eras Tour," Swift said beginning her acoustic set, "or as I like to call it, 'Female Rage: The Musical.'"

New tortured set list

"Tortured Poets" is the longest set list with seven songs:

  • "But Daddy I Love Him"
  • "So High School"
  • "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me"
  • "Fortnight"
  • "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived"
  • "I Can Do It with a Broken Heart"

Swift's white dress had cursive writings all along the lower half that read, "I love you, it's ruining my life," a line from the lead single "Fortnight."

The crowd gasped when she began "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me," riding on a floating platform like a possessed, magical entity. The hovering device darted toward her dancers at points as she belted the high notes. At the end of the song, Swift sang, "Who's afraid of little old me?" as the animation on the back screen hollowed her eyes in a haunting, ghostly manner.

Check out details from the other 11th era songs here .

Singing 'Paris' in Paris

On the guitar during the acoustic set, Swift took a break from her routine of performing mashups by singing her "Midnights" song "Paris." She then sang a "Tortured Poets" number, "loml," on the piano. For a complete list of all of her secret songs, you can bookmark this page. I update it after every show!

Swift has three more nights at La Défense Arena. Her opening act Paramore will follow her throughout Europe. In August, Swift will finish in London and take a two-month break before returning to North America. She will perform in three U.S. cities (Miami, New Orleans and Indianapolis) and two Canadian cities (Toronto and Vancouver).
