Aerosmith are going on their farewell tour, but “it’s not goodbye, it’s peace out,” the US rockers said in a statement .
“Get ready and walk this way, you’re going to get the best show of our lives,” the band added. Aerosmith will embark on their final tour this September, starting a run of 40 shows in Philadelphia before wrapping up on 26 January 2024 in Montreal.
As it stands, unless further legs of concerts are added to the band’s itinerary, Australian fans will be missing out.
Also missing out is drummer Joey Kramer , as the Livin’ On The Edge group – vocalist Steven Tyler , lead guitarist Joe Perry , rhythm guitarist Brad Whitford and bassist Tom Hamilton revealed in their announcement today.
“While Joey Kramer remains a beloved founding member of Aerosmith, he has regrettably made the decision to sit out the currently scheduled touring dates to focus his full attention on his family and health,” Aerosmith wrote. “Joey’s unmistakable and legendary presence behind the drum kit will be sorely missed.”

“It’s about time,” Joe Perry told The Associated Press about the band’s wrapping up. The Rock And Roll Hall Of Famers will be joined by The Black Crowes on all tour dates, which you can find below.
The announcement of Aerosmith’s farewell tour arrives a few months after Steven Tyler was accused of sexual assault in a recent lawsuit.
The plaintiff, Julia Holcomb , alleged that she and a then-25-year-old Tyler began a sexual relationship in 1973, just after her 16th birthday.
The suit's details of Tyler gaining guardianship over Holcomb as a teenager match up with her 2011 essay , where she wrote: "My mother signed over guardianship of me to Steven after I had moved to Boston. I remember my surprise when Steven told me she had signed the papers and trying to take this in mentally. A sense of vulnerability came over me, knowing that I was his ward, but we were not married."
Holcomb said that she met Tyler at an Aerosmith concert in Portland. She alleged that Tyler was aware of her age when he invited her back to his hotel room, where he "performed various acts of criminal sexual conduct upon" her.
Holcomb also accused Tyler of subjecting her to "involuntary infamy" for writing about her in his 2012 memoir , Does The Noise In My Head Bother You? and describing it as a "romantic, loving relationship".
Holcomb further alleged that in 1975, she became pregnant with Tyler's child and that he insisted that she terminate the pregnancy. Tyler denies all the allegations.

Aerosmith announce long-awaited Australian tour
AMERICAN rock band Aerosmith have announced their first Australian tour in 24 years.
US superstar cancels Aussie tour

‘Shattered’: Taylor’s secret Eras Tour struggle
Aerosmith will play Rod Laver Arena on May 4, with tickets on sale March 4.
Aerosmith will play ANZ Stadium on April 28 with Wolfmother, Grinspoon, Spiderbait and the Dead Daisies. Tickets go on sale March 4.
Aerosmith will play Brisbane Entertainment Centre on May 1, tickets go on sale on March 4.
Frontman Steven Tyler said his role as a judge on American Idol in 2011 and 2012 had given the band a new audience.
"There were 40 million people watching Idol every night. People would come on and sing Aerosmith songs. It brings you back up again," Tyler said.
"It re-upped the Aerosmith catalogue by 300 per cent. It did its job.
"I can't go anywhere now but it's all good."
Tyler and bandmate Joe Perry have feuded since Aerosmith formed in 1970.
Perry tried to replace Tyler with another singer after he found out about the Idol job by reading about it online.
Tyler eventually made peace with his bandmates to record last year's "Music From Another Dimension", their first album since 2004.
"I'd got myself sober three years ago and thought what am I doing this for?," Tyler said.
"I told the band 'I'm on fire, I'm ready to do this with you or without you'. I was the first one to come to the table and say we're really not worth anything unless we're together. Let's put the grievances aside."
"I'm still amazed by this band. Two years ago we were fighting, I didn't want to know about them anymore. I got a chance to think about it for a month, really strongly.
"Aerosmith is the biggest accomplishment in my life short of my kids. The damage we've done in this band writing songs from "Dream On" to "Walk this Way" to "Another Last Goodbye", it's been an incredible journey."
Tyler, who turns 65 next month, has plans to explore the outback when he hits Australia.
"Last time I went I wanted to see a kangaroo, hold a koala and dive the Great Barrier Reef, and I got to do them all.
"This time I want to walk the Songlines hopefully with an Aboriginal chief. I've read about the Songlines, it's incredible stuff. These are the people who know everything. I'm in a rock band, I don't know shit."

‘It’s not goodbye it’s peace out!’: Aerosmith announce farewell tour
The legendary rock band, formed in 1970, will visit 40 stops in North America as part of their Peace Out tour
This fall, the elder statesmen of rock Aerosmith will launch one final tour, the band announced on Monday.
The Peace Out tour will begin on 2 September in Philadelphia and make 40 stops across North America, including Los Angeles, New York, Toronto, Chicago, and a hometown show in Boston on New Year’s Eve. The farewell tour will wrap on 26 January in Montreal.
“It’s not goodbye it’s PEACE OUT!” the band, formed in 1970, said in a statement. “Get ready and walk this way, you’re going to get the best show of our lives.”
The farewell tour will include original frontman Steven Tyler, lead guitarist Joe Perry, guitarist Brad Whitford and bassist Tom Hamilton. The group’s founding drummer, Joey Kramer, will not be in attendance.
“While Joey Kramer remains a beloved founding member of Aerosmith, he has regrettably made the decision to sit out the currently scheduled touring dates to focus his full attention on his family and health,” the band said in a statement. “Joey’s unmistakable and legendary presence behind the drum kit will be sorely missed.”
The tour announcement comes a few months after a woman sued Tyler for sexual assault when she was a teenager in the 1970s. Julia Misley, who had spoken out publicly for years about Tyler’s treatment of her as a teenager, filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles thanks to a rule temporarily lifting the statute of limitations on sexual abuse suffered as children. Misley alleges sexual battery, sexual assault and intentional infliction of distress over a three-year period on the road with the rocker, including a coerced abortion.
Tyler has denied all allegations. Misley has since become an anti-abortion advocate in the US, citing her experience with Tyler in the context of anti-abortion campaigns, including an interview with Tucker Carlson on Fox News .
Aerosmith, inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001, has sold more than 150m albums during their more than 50-year career, won four Grammys, conducted 10 world tours and notched many Top 10 pop hits, including I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing, Walk This Way, Dream On, Jaded and What It Takes. The band recently wrapped their Las Vegas residency, Aerosmith: Deuces Are Wild, at Dolby Live at Park MGM, though a portion of the residency was canceled when Tyler voluntarily entered a rehabilitation program.
The Black Crowes will open for Aerosmith throughout the tour.

Aerosmith Confirms Farewell Tour 'Peace Out' After 50 Years of Music: 'Time for One Last Go'
Drummer Joey Kramer will sit out the tour to "focus his full attention on his family and health," according to the band
Aerosmith fans have a final chance to see the iconic rock legends in concert.
On Monday, the four-time Grammy winners and Rock and Roll Hall of Famers confirmed suspicions of their farewell tour , announcing Peace Out — a 40-city North American concert celebrating their monumental career.
"After 50 years, 10 world tours and playing for over 100 million fans, it's time for one last go," a release said.
"It's not goodbye it's PEACE OUT!" bandmates Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton and Brad Whitford added in a joint statement. "Get ready and walk this way, you're going to get the best show of our lives."

Sadly, drummer Joey Kramer — who is credited with originating the name Aerosmith — won't be joining his bandmates on tour.
"While Joey Kramer remains a beloved founding member of Aerosmith, he has regrettably made the decision to sit out the currently scheduled touring dates to focus his full attention on his family and health," the band said. "Joey's unmistakable and legendary presence behind the drum kit will be sorely missed."

Alongside the tour news came a hilarious video in which stars like Eminem, Slash, Bill Burr, Terry Crews and even Dolly Parton react to news agencies across the globe reporting on the world-ending news. "And if you think we're joking, 'Dream On,' " Tyler, 75, says at the clip's close.
Produced by Live Nation, the tour will kick off in Philadelphia on Sept. 2 with stops in iconic arenas across the U.S. and Canada — including Los Angeles' Kia Forum, New York City's Madison Square Garden, Atlanta's State Farm Arena, Dallas' Moody Center, Seattle's Climate Pledge Arena, Chicago's United Center, Toronto's Scotiabank Arena and more.
A full list can be found on Live Nation's site . One special stop will be in the band's hometown city of Boston on New Year's Eve, where the band will ring in 2024 at the TD Garden arena.
The tour — which will also feature special guest The Black Crowes — is currently scheduled to wrap in Montreal, Québec, Canada, at Bell Centre on Jan. 26, 2024, though Perry told the Associated Press other cities domestically and internationally could be added.
"It's the final farewell tour, but I have a feeling it will go on for a while," he told the outlet. "But I don't know how many times we'll be coming back to the same cities. It could very possibly be the last time."
Fans can expect hits from all five decades of Aerosmith's groundbreaking career, including "Amazing," "Crazy," "Janie's Got A Gun," "Livin' On The Edge," "Love In An Elevator," "Dream On," "Pink" and "Don't Want to Miss a Thing."
Tickets go on sale Friday. The tour will also offer a variety of different VIP packages and experiences , some of which include photo ops with the band and limited edition merchandise and more.

Rumors of Aerosmith's tour broke at the end of April, when supporters of the band noticed a countdown clock on Aerosmith's website leading up to Monday's announcement, as well as a handful of promotional banners popping up at music venues across the U.S.
Suspicions also followed after Perry's revelation that the group has planned to tour from September into 2024. "I don't know if I'm not supposed to announce it or not, but we are gonna announce the tour, and it's gonna start in September and will go into next year," he told 102.3 WBAB this month. "And being one of the guys who votes on this kind of thing, it looks like we're gonna do it."
The upcoming outings mark Aerosmith's first official tour since the Aero-Vederci Baby! Tour in 2017 and 2018.
Aerosmith last hit the stage in 2022 at the Dolby Live Theater at Park MGM in Las Vegas as part of its Deuces Are Wild residency. Despite canceling a string of concert dates during the run, the group returned in September , with shows running through November.
In May 2022, the band said it was "devastated" to have to cancel eight shows on the famous Strip, but knew it was the right move for Tyler's sobriety. Tyler has long battled substance abuse, and it was revealed that he relapsed following surgery for his foot.
"As many of you know, our beloved brother Steven has worked on his sobriety for many years," Aerosmith said in a social media statement at the time. "After foot surgery to prepare for the stage and the necessity of pain management during the process, he has recently relapsed and voluntarily entered a treatment program to concentrate on his health and recovery."
Although Tyler never directly referred to seeking treatment for substance abuse , he did seem to make a nod to it at one point during the band's first show back. "It's either too much or too little all the time. I'm a big fan of too much," he told a woman in the front row after she said something to him.

Since their Vegas residency, band members have also been active on the charity front.
In November, the four-time Grammy-winning group donated two community emergency vehicles to the Red Cross of Central Florida as the organization worked to provide relief in the aftermath of Hurricanes Ian and Nicole.
The two 2023 Chevrolet Silverados feature Aerosmith's notable Walk This Way logo, with delivery scheduled for the spring, per a press release at the time. Perry — who lives in Sarasota, Florida — said in a statement at the time that he and his bandmates were "devastated by the disastrous impact of Hurricane Ian."
"Too often we are seeing these disasters increase in frequency and intensity due to climate change, having a strong Red Cross is more critical than ever before," the guitarist said. "We're proud to support the Red Cross and we know these vehicles will be an important tool helping people in need for years to come."

Aerosmith announces farewell tour starting in September

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Aerosmith will be touring a city near you for the last time to celebrate the rock band’s 50-plus years together.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band announced Monday the dates for their farewell tour called “Peace Out” starting Sept. 2 in Philadelphia. The 40-date run of shows, which includes a stop in the band’s hometown of Boston on New Year’s Eve, will end Jan. 26 in Montreal.
“I think it’s about time,” guitarist Joe Perry said in an interview with The Associated Press.
Perry said the group, with frontman Steven Tyler, bassist Tom Hamilton, drummer Joey Kramer and guitarist Brad Whitford, learned from the staging and production from their recent Las Vegas residency shows.
Perry believes the time to say goodbye is now, especially with every founding band member over the age of 70. Tyler, 75, is the oldest in the group.
“It’s kind of a chance to celebrate the 50 years we’ve been out here,” Perry said. “You never know how much longer everybody’s going to be healthy to do this. … It’s been a while since we’ve actually done a real tour. We did that run in Vegas, which was great. It was fun, but (we’re) kind of anxious to get back on the road.“
Tyler and Perry said the band is looking forward to digging into their lengthy catalog of the group’s rock classics including “Crazy,” “Janie’s Got a Gun” and “Livin’ on the Edge.”
Over the years, Aerosmith, which formed in 1970, has collected four Grammys. The band broke boundaries intersecting rock and hip-hop with their epic collaboration with Run-DMC for “Walk This Way.”
Aerosmith performed the Super Bowl halftime show in 2001 and even had their own theme park attraction in 1999 at Disney World in Florida and later in Paris with the launch of the “Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith” ride.
“We’re opening up Pandora’s Box one last time to present our fans with the Peace Out tour,” Tyler said in a statement to the AP. His “Pandora’s Box” reference calls out Aerosmith’s 1991 three-disc compilation album that covered the band’s output from the 1970s to the early 1980s.
“Be there or beware as we bring all the toys out of the attic. Get ready,” Tyler added.
The band said Kramer decided to not take part in the current dates on the upcoming tour. He’s still a part of the group, but the drummer has been on leave to “focus his attention on his family and health” since their Vegas residency last year. Drummer John Douglas will continue to play in his place.
Perry called Kramer their brother. The band said his “legendary presence behind the drum kit will be sorely missed.”
Before the 40-date tour wraps, Perry said other cities domestically and internationally could be added.
“It’s the final farewell tour, but I have a feeling it will go on for a while,” he said. “But I don’t know how many times we’ll be coming back to the same cities. It could very possibly be the last time.”

I have been an Aerosmith fan since I was 2 years old, back in 1974, and I used to try to swerve my hips back 'n' forth à la Steven Tyler.
I have only had the chance to see them 3 times in my life, and it seems that every time they come in concert life whisks me away some place else!
So now I'm in Cyprus for a long time coming... and nearly nobody ever comes out to this little (amazing) island at the end of the Mediterranean sea. It's unfortunate as there are some true fans out here, and I'm sure the band would love to make a pitstop in this paradisal place.
@Aerosmith - PLEASE COME!!! It really is worth it here.

I have seen Aerosmith over 30 times!!! I am from Fl., in 2015 they didn't come to the east coast. So I went to the 2nd to last concert of "The Blue Army Tour" in Hildago,Tx.
It was the best concert by them that I have seen yet.
3rd row 3rd seat, Steven Tyler seemed and acted like he was a 25-year-old .
After 30 times of seeing them I felt like it was my 1st. He threw his harmonica to me and I went nuts.
I have to say that it was the highlight of my life. Next to having my son it was the best day of my life.
I can hardly wait until they come again.......it won't be soon enough.
This was my first time I saw Aerosmith.. It was a fantastic show.. I were very impressed by there performance and the tempo they had.. Very sad it's their last tour because they are so fucking good and I want to enjoy there outstanding and professional performance more then this one time..
Aerosmith fan for life now!

AEROSMITH Announces Rescheduled Dates For 'Peace Out' Farewell Tour
AEROSMITH has announced the rescheduled dates for the band's "Peace Out" farewell tour.
The trek will kick off on September 20 at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where the legendary Massachusetts rockers played at the start of last year's original run, and will include a return appearance at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The 41-date tour will conclude on February 26, 2025 at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York. Support on the trek will once again come from THE BLACK CROWES , who recently released their new album, "Happiness Bastards" .
AEROSMITH postponed the original "Peace Out" farewell tour dates after singer Steven Tyler suffered vocal cord damage in September 2023. The news came two weeks after AEROSMITH postponed six shows on the trek in order to allow Tyler time to recover from his injury.
When AEROSMITH announced the tour postponement, the band said in a statement: : "To our fans: Unfortunately, Steven 's vocal injury is more serious than initially thought. His doctor has confirmed that in addition to the damage to his vocal cords, he fractured his larynx which requires ongoing care.
"He is receiving the best medical treatment available to ensure his recovery is swift, but given the nature of a fracture, he is being told patience is essential. As a result, all the currently scheduled 'Peace Out' shows must be postponed to sometime in 2024, with new dates to be announced as soon as we know more."
Tyler said in an accompanying statement: "I am heartbroken to not be out there with AEROSMITH , my brothers and the incredible BLACK CROWES , rocking with the best fans in the world. I promise we will be back as soon as we can!"
AEROSMITH kicked off its "Peace Out" farewell on September 2, 2023 at the 21,000-capacity Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
AEROSMITH 's 18-song set opened with "Back In The Saddle" and included a cover of FLEETWOOD MAC 's "Stop Messin' Around" , before closing with a two-song encore of "Dream On" and "Walk This Way" .
Produced by Live Nation , the 40-date North American tour was scheduled to make stops at arenas across the U.S. and Canada, including Los Angeles's Kia Forum, New York's Madison Square Garden and Toronto's Scotiabank Arena, with a special stop in their hometown of Boston for New Year's Eve 2023.
The "Peace Out" run of dates was originally set to wrap on January 26, 2024 in Montreal. Special guests THE BLACK CROWES were joining AEROSMITH for the entire tour, which was to celebrate AEROSMITH 's five decades of music.
Prior to the launch of "Peace Out" , AEROSMITH wrapped its critically acclaimed Las Vegas residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM. Ahead of the residency, AEROSMITH returned to its hometown in Boston to perform a record-breaking one-off show at Fenway Park as part of the legendary band's 50th anniversary celebrations. With over 38,700 people in attendance, it was the most tickets sold to date for a show at the iconic venue.
In May 2022, AEROSMITH announced that Tyler had entered a treatment program following a relapse, prompting the band to put their Las Vegas residency on a temporary hold.
Tyler had been struggling with drug and alcohol addiction since the mid-1980s. Over the course of the last four decades, he had relapsed several times, including in the early 2000s and 2009.

Joe Perry touts the return of Aerosmith's Las Vegas residency: 'Fans want live music'
Joe Perry hasn’t seen his Aerosmith bandmates since they walked offstage after a concert in Las Vegas in February 2020.
But the quintet that Perry calls “America’s garage band” will storm the city again in June with the return of its Deuces are Wild residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM.
The acclaimed show , which adeptly knits the fiery rock hits of Aerosmith’s five-decade career – "Walk This Way," "Dream On" and "Living on the Edge," among them – with deeper cuts such as “Hangman Jury” and “Seasons of Wither” is also a sonic and visual indulgence.
None of that will change during a spate of 24 dates from June 17 to Dec. 11– especially, Perry tells USA TODAY, the massive lift that juts the guitar hero and flamboyant frontman Steven Tyler over the audience during the encore.
“That (lift) is something we normally wouldn’t do on the road, but judging from the response of the audience, we’ll certainly keep it in the show,” says Perry, 71, from his home in Florida. “I get as much of a kick out of it as anyone. That thing is swaying back and forth – at one point in a show I had to grab Steven by the belt and pull him back. But that’s the kind of stuff that makes it a rock ‘n’ roll show.”
Tickets for the concerts, which include dates in July, September, October and November, go on sale March 31 at ticketmaster.com/aerosmith .
A good bet: Vegas residencies from Carrie Underwood, Katy Perry are big winners
Perry – who says his health has been “really good” since he collapsed backstage in 2018 after performing with Billy Joel – relishes the musical freedom of a residency with Tyler, guitarist Brad Whitford and bassist Tom Hamilton.
Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer has "regrettably made the decision to sit out the band's concerts in 2022 so he can focus his full attention on his family during these uncertain times," according to a statement from the band. Kramer was estranged from Aerosmith in 2019 but returned in 2020.
While the statement notes that "he and the band look forward to his future performances with Aerosmith," John Douglas will be stationed behind the drum kit while Kramer "takes a temporary leave of absence."
“Certainly people want to hear the so-called classic songs, but it’s been great to throw something in from, like, (1997’s) ‘Nine Lives’ album that people want to hear. The stage is wide open for us to do a couple of acoustic songs, or Steven can go to the piano and play a ballad off an album we haven’t played since it came out,” Perry says. “There are so many different age groups of fans in the audience, and we don’t want to do a disservice to any of them.”
Along with their new Vegas dates, Aerosmith is also touting the release of “Aerosmith – 1971: The Road Starts Hear,” a rare recording discovered in the band’s vaults that was originally released in limited form for 2021’s Record Store Day. On April 8, it arrives on CD and digital formats.
More: Def Leppard recruits Alison Krauss for upcoming new album
Perry can’t remember where the songs were recorded, but he knows that the tape machine used to capture the raw sounds of the fledgling band was the same one he received as a Christmas gift when he was 14.
“I was expecting an electric guitar,” he jokes. “But I always had that tape machine around, and I’m surprised at the quality of this recording. It sounds so much like our first album that it really kind of blows my mind.”
While Aerosmith’s Vegas residency offers devotees the opportunity to witness a specialized show in a 5,200-capacity venue – a much more intimate setting than the band’s typical platforms of arenas and stadiums – the Sin City concerts are likely to mark its only U.S. appearances this year.
Perry says a backlog of holdover dates from two years of pandemic-postponed shows means “every venue is booked from the bottom to the top. There’s a waiting list for almost every venue we would play. It’s tough, because the fans want live music, and we want to be out there playing it.”

Aerosmith Announce Rescheduled 2024, 2025 Peace Out Tour Dates
The band was forced to postpone all shows after frontman Steven Tyler suffered a fractured larynx
After previously postponing the the bulk of their final run last year, Aerosmith have confirmed their rescheduled Peace Out Tour dates. While the tour kicked off last fall to rave reviews and praise from fans, frontman Steven Tyler sustained a fractured larynx during the band’s performance at UBS Arena on September 9, 2023, just three shows into the band’s 40-date grand finale. As it turns out, Tyler’s recovery has taken longer than expected.
“To our fans: unfortunately, Steven’s vocal injury is more serious than initially thought,” the band said in a statement at the time. “His doctor has confirmed that in addition to the damage to his vocal cords, he fractured his larynx which requires ongoing care. He is receiving the best medical treatment available to ensure his recovery is swift, but given the nature of a fracture, he is being told patience is essential. As a result, all the currently scheduled Peace Out shows must be postponed to sometime in 2024, with new dates to be announced as soon as we know more.”
“I am heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers and the incredible Black Crowes, rocking with the best fans in the world,” Steven Tyler said. “I promise we will be back as soon as we can!”
Now, Aerosmith have announced the new round of dates. The Peace Out trek resumes on September 20 at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where they already played at the start of the original run. The group will also be returning for an encore at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where the tour kicked off last year (check out highlights from the show in the clip below). A third addition to the trek will be a performance at the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida on February 11, 2025. The band will wrap up the 40-date trek on February 26, 2025, taking their final bows at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York. The Black Crowes , who just released their new album Happiness Bastards last month, are still serving as special guests for the entire tour. Opening night in Pittsburgh will feature a special performance by Teddy Swims to kick off the evening, stepping in for The Black Crowes.
Check out the full tour itinerary below.
All previously purchased tickets will be honored at the rescheduled shows. Ticketholders will receive more information via email today [April 10]. Refunds will be available at point of purchase for fans who are unable to attend the new dates. Fans are encouraged to reach out to Live Nation/Ticketmaster, or the third party entities (e.g. StubHub, Vivid Seats, etc.) with any questions regarding refunds. Tickets for the rescheduled dates and newly added shows are on sale this Friday, April 12 at 10am local time. The tour will also offer a variety of different VIP packages and experiences for fans to take their concert experience to the next level. Packages vary but include a premium reserved ticket, limited edition merchandise and more.
While the band has been touring for over five decades, there’s still plenty of tracks that haven’t seen the lights of a stage yet. At the third stop of the Peace Out Tour at UBS Arena in New York, Aerosmith played a Draw the Line rarity, “Bright Light Fright , “ for the first time in 29 years. Guitarist Joe Perry handled the vocal duties. When the tour resumes in September, there’s still a tone of tunes that the band has never broken out of the their vault. Maybe when the Peace Out Tour resumes, the band will surprise fans with a song or two from this list of tracks that they have never played live.
“We’re going to open up Pandora’s box one last time to present our fans with the Peace Out Tour,” Tyler said when the trek was announced, referencing the band’s 1991 compilation box set. “Be there or be aware as we bring all the toys out of the attic. Get ready!”
Drummer Joey Kramer decided not to take part in the band’s final tour initially. While he is still considered part of the group, Kramer took a leave of absence from the band’s Vegas residency last year to “focus his his attention on his family and health” and will continue to sit out the band’s final run.” Drummer John Douglas filled in for Kramer during the the first three dates of the original Peace Out Tour, and it appears that he will continue to sit behind the kit this fall with the run resumes.
When the original trek was announced, Aerosmith stated, “While Joey Kramer remains a beloved founding member of Aerosmith, he has regrettably made the decision to sit out the currently scheduled touring dates to focus his full attention on his family and health. Joey’s unmistakable and legendary presence behind the drum kit will be sorely missed.”
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers wrapped up their landmark Deuces Are Wild Residency in Las Vegas back in 2022, and played a special 50th anniversary show at Fenway Park. Now, fans are finally getting to witness the celebrations for themselves.
Aerosmith have 12 multi-platinum certified albums under their belt. To date, the band has garnered four GRAMMY® Awards, six American Music Awards, and ten MTV Video Music Awards. In 1999, Walt Disney World launched the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, the band’s very own theme park attraction. In 2001, they performed at the Super Bowl Halftime Show and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Throughout a career that spans over five decades, the rock ‘n’ roll legends have sold over 150 million records worldwide, making them the best-selling American rock act of all time. Their music has transcended generations, and while they’ve been selling records since 1973, they band has just achieved a monumental modern-day milestone.
While vinyl and CDs have seen a tremendous resurgence over the last ten years, streaming has become monstrous manner by which people consume music. Since the launch of Spotify back in 2006, many artists have amassed hundreds of thousands of streams, and some hundreds of millions. Few, however, have achieved the rare achievement that Aerosmith just did – having a single song surpass 1 billion streams.
One of the band’s biggest hits, “Dream On,” has amassed 1,001,249,355 streams on Spotify. It’s a testament not only to the band’s legacy, but to their ability to achieve success in a new age and remain relevant right up to their farewell tour. The fact that “Dream On” is one of the greatest songs ever written makes this milestone a little bit less surprising.
After inking a deal with Columbia Records, Aerosmith released their self-titled debut album on January 5, 1973. Anchored by the lead single, “Dream On,” the album hit No. 21 on the Billboard 200. The seminal “Dream On” hit No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100, and dominated rock radio stations around the country.
“The music for ‘Dream On was originally written on a Steinway upright piano in the living room of Trow-Rico lodge in Sunapee [New Hampshire], maybe four years before Aerosmith even started,” frontman Steven Tyler recalls in the Aerosmith biography, Walk This Way , by Stephen Davis. “I was seventeen or eighteen […] It was just this little thing I was playing, and I never dreamed it would end up as a real song or anything […] It’s about dreaming until your dreams come true.”
Last month, Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash released a cover of Howlin’ Wolf’s “Killing Floor , ” the lead single from his upcoming blues covers album, Orgy of the Damned . The track features AC/DC’s Brian Johnson on vocals, and Steven Tyler on harmonica. The record arrives on May 17 through Gibson Records.
The band also announced in March celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the seminal sophomore outing, Get Your Wings (1974). To commemorate the milestone, Aerosmith to releasing a limited edition LP numbered 1-1974 on 180g custom color “gold sparkle” vinyl, featuring an embossed gold foil jacket, a 70’s-era logo sticker and a vintage ad replica inside. Each copy is uniquely numbered with gold foil and encased in black poly-lined sleeves, preserving the quality and sound of this iconic album. Includes the classics “Same Old Song And Dance,” “Train Kept A Rollin’,” “Lord Of The Thighs,” “Seasons of Wither” and more. All new merchandise is available for pre-order now, releasing on May 17.
Aerosmith’s Get Your Wings is certified triple-platinum by the RIAA. It marked the band’s first collaboration with producer Jack Douglas, who went on to produce the group’s next three iconic albums. Douglas was instrumental in shaping the sound that would define America’s greatest rock band for decades to come. Recorded at Record Plant studios in New York City, Aerosmith launched a tour supporting the album on March 9, 1974 at the Orpheum Theater in Boston, Massachusetts. The 74-show trek across the United States put Aerosmith on the map.
