Arrowhead Stadium: Gate & Entrance Guide – Quick and Friendly Overview

posted on October 18th 2023 by Charmaine Cortes // last updated on October 18th 2023

As a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs or someone attending an event at Arrowhead Stadium, it’s essential to know all about the various gates and entrances. Arrowhead Stadium, home to the Kansas City Chiefs, hosts not only thrilling football games but also a range of other events. In this article, I’ll provide all the information you need to know about navigating the gates and entrances at Arrowhead Stadium.

Located off the 70 and 435 freeways, Arrowhead Stadium has multiple entrance gates to accommodate the large crowds that gather for games and events. I’ll be covering everything you need to make your visit as smooth as possible – from arriving at the stadium to finding your way to your seat.

Not only will this guide enhance your experience at Arrowhead Stadium, but it’ll also help you feel more confident and prepared for your visit. So, let’s dive into the details and get you ready to enjoy a fantastic day at the stadium!

History of Arrowhead Stadium

Gate locations and their unique features, entrances details and accessibility, security measures and prohibited items, what to know before you go, stadium amenities and services, events and tours at arrowhead stadium.

arrowhead stadium tour details

I remember the first time I visited Arrowhead Stadium, home to the Kansas City Chiefs. Built in 1972 and opened in 1973, this iconic stadium has stood the test of time. Over the years, it has seen many changes, both good and bad, but it remains steeped in history.

Originally, the Chiefs and baseball’s Athletics shared a stadium, Municipal Stadium, which was built in 1923. However, with the NFL-AFL merger in 1970, the requirements for a professional football teamʼs stadium changed, and the stadium needed to accommodate at least 50,000 people. Municipal Stadium could only hold about 40,000, so the Chiefs had to make a move. That’s when Arrowhead Stadium was built and became their new home.

There’s no denying the significance of 1972 in Arrowhead Stadium’s history. That’s the year it was completed, and on August 12, 1972, the Chiefs played their first preseason game at Arrowhead against the St. Louis Cardinals, defeating them 24-14.

Today, Arrowhead Stadium is known as GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, and it’s still a popular venue for Chiefs games and other events. With easy access from I-70 and I-435, it accommodates guests with various entrance gates around Truman Sports Complex.

In the decades since Arrowhead Stadium opened, it has continued to evolve, but it still retains the charm and history that make it a treasured landmark in Kansas City.

I’ve noticed that Gate D is the entrance that provides access to Arrowhead Stadium’s lower level seating. This gate is usually lively and bustling with fans, perfect if you’re looking to soak in that electric pre-game atmosphere. Gate D is also conveniently located near accessible parking spots in lots A, B, C, D, F, G, H, and J, which makes it an excellent choice for guests with disabilities.

Gate F is an entrance I discovered that leads directly to the upper level of the stadium. If you have seats in the upper section, this gate is your go-to entrance to save time and energy from climbing steps or navigating through the stadium. Additionally, this entrance is near some of the finest food and beverage concessions in the stadium, including savory barbecue options and a wide range of refreshments.

Last but not least, Gate G is the preferred entrance for club level patrons and suite holders. With escalators and elevators available, this entrance provides a seamless entry into the stadium’s premium seating areas. Plus, Gate G offers an exclusive experience with faster entry and less crowded lines. This way, you can feel like a VIP while enjoying your time at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.

Sprint Entrance

At Arrowhead Stadium, the Sprint Entrance is one of the gates you’ll find. As you approach the stadium, look for signs pointing you towards this entrance point. It’s an excellent spot to enter the stadium as I have found it usually has short lines and friendly staff ready to help you get inside quickly.

Hy-Vee Entrance

Another entrance you might consider is the Hy-Vee Entrance. This entrance offers easy access to the stadium, and I often find it less crowded than some of the other gates. Once you’re inside the stadium, you’ll notice nearby amenities such as concession stands and restrooms, which makes settling in for the game a breeze.

Ford Fan Experience Entrance

The Ford Fan Experience Entrance provides a unique entrance option for fans looking to enhance their game day experience. As I’ve discovered, this entrance not only provides access to the stadium but also brings you into an interactive fan zone filled with activities and entertainment. It’s a perfect option if you’re looking to make your visit to Arrowhead Stadium even more special.

ADA Entrance Mappings

Arrowhead Stadium is committed to making their events accessible for all fans. I appreciate how they offer designated accessible entrances and seating areas throughout the stadium. There are ADA entrances located near each of the main entrance gates (Sprint, Hy-Vee, and Ford Fan Experience), which ensures access to the stadium is convenient for fans with disabilities. Keep an eye out for signs directing you to these entrances when you arrive at the stadium.

When I visited GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, I realized there are certain security measures in place to ensure everyone’s safety and enjoyment during events. Here’s a brief rundown of some important things you need to know about the security measures and prohibited items at the stadium.

First of all, it’s important to mention that the stadium has a bag policy in place– they only accept clear bags or small clutch purses. No backpacks, fanny packs, belt bags, cinch bags, or larger bags are allowed. This ensures that the security staff can easily check belongings and speed up the entry process.

Now, let’s talk about some prohibited items. During my visit, I couldn’t bring any food or beverage except for a 20oz factory-sealed bottled water. Also, I learned that glass, metal, and plastic thermos, cups, bottles, or flasks are not allowed inside either. And forget about bringing helmets and hardhats of any size, as they are prohibited too.

On the other hand, there are some items that are actually permitted within the stadium. For instance, small personal cameras under 6 inches, small collapsible umbrellas, and blankets were all allowed. Additionally, signs and banners under 3×5 feet were also okay as long as they didn’t obstruct anyone’s view.

As for the gates and entrances, the GEHA Gate is located on the south endzone near the home sideline. This gate might be the best choice if your tickets are for sections 112-116 or 216-220. Remember to make sure you’re aware of these rules and restrictions before heading to the stadium, and enjoy your time at Arrowhead Stadium!

Tailgating Tips

I always recommend arriving at Arrowhead Stadium at least two hours before kickoff to fully enjoy the tailgating experience. This gives you enough time to set up, relax, and socialize before you head into the stadium. Remember to bring your essentials like a portable grill, food, beverages, chairs, and games! It’s also a good idea to familiarize yourself with the tailgating rules and regulations beforehand to avoid any issues on game day.

Parking Information

Parking at Arrowhead Stadium is easy when you know where to go. Accessible parking is available in the front of Lots A, B, C, D, F, G, H and J, with registered state issued disabled person license plates or placards. Lots E and M are premium lots only. To make your parking experience as smooth as possible, I recommend purchasing your parking pass in advance and reviewing the lot maps and directions before you head to the game.

Public Transportation and Drop-off

If you’re planning to use public transportation or get dropped off at Arrowhead Stadium, you can use the KCATA’s bus service, which offers a convenient and cost-effective option for getting to the stadium. The bus schedule is available on the KCATA website. If you prefer getting dropped off, there are designated drop-off and pickup areas for rideshare services like Uber and Lyft near the stadium.

Stadium Policies

Before heading to Arrowhead Stadium, it’s important to know the stadium’s policies. Some key policies include:

  • A clear bag policy requiring all bags to be clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and not exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″. Small clutch bags, the size of a hand, are allowed as well.
  • Prohibited items, which include, but are not limited to: large bags, coolers, backpacks, weapons, alcoholic beverages, banners or signs obstructing the view of other fans, and noisemakers.
  • Re-entry to the stadium is not permitted once you exit.

By keeping these tips in mind, you’ll be well-prepared for a fantastic visit and game day experience at Arrowhead Stadium!

As a visitor at Arrowhead Stadium, I would love to share my experience about the various amenities and services offered at the stadium. The following are the sub-sections I’ll be covering in this section: Food and Beverage Outlets, Rest Room Locations, and Accessible Seating.

Food and Beverage Outlets

During my visit, I noticed a wide variety of food and beverage options available within the stadium. From classic stadium fare like hotdogs and popcorn, to BBQ and local favorites, there was something to suit everyone’s taste buds. The beverage selections were also impressive, with a range of soft drinks, beer, and other alcoholic options. I appreciated the self-service kiosks and electronic payment methods, which helped to keep the lines moving and expedite the ordering process.

Rest Room Locations

In terms of restrooms, I found them to be conveniently located throughout the stadium. They were well-maintained and clean, which is always a plus in my book. Moreover, there were enough restrooms available to avoid long waiting times, which allowed me to return to the game or event quickly. I also appreciated the presence of family restrooms and changing stations for those with young kids.

Accessible Seating

Finally, let me talk about the accessible seating options I noticed in Arrowhead Stadium. The stadium provides numerous accessible seating locations in various sections, ensuring that guests with disabilities can comfortably enjoy the events. In addition to the accessible seating, I noticed that there were ramps, elevators, and courtesy carts available to help guests with mobility issues reach their desired locations. These amenities made my experience at Arrowhead Stadium a welcoming and inclusive one.

Arrowhead Stadium is home to the Kansas City Chiefs and a variety of other events throughout the year. I’ve learned that there are both private and game day tours available for fans and visitors to enjoy.

When planning a visit, it’s crucial to be aware of scheduled events, as tours will not be scheduled during these times. Some notable 2023 events that are off-limits for tours include Monster Jam (May 13th – 23rd), Luke Combs (June 5th – 12th), BBQ Fest (June 22nd – 25th), Taylor Swift (July 2nd – 10th), Ed Sheeran (July 31st – Aug 7th), Billy Joel (August 14th – 21st), and Beyonce (September 12th – 19th).

Private tours have a range of pricing depending on the number of guests participating. Currently, it costs $60 per person for 1-4 guests, $50 per person for 5-10 guests, and $30 per person for groups with 11 or more guests. Requests and full payment for private tours should be submitted at least 5 days before the desired tour date, and please note that there are no tours offered the day after a home game.

Game day tours are available with limited spots, making them a unique opportunity to enjoy Arrowhead Stadium during the excitement of a game. These tours are perfect for die-hard fans or visitors seeking an immersive experience with the Kansas City Chiefs.

To ensure a smooth visit to Arrowhead Stadium, be sure to familiarize yourself with the stadium’s parking, tailgating, prohibited/permitted items, accessibility, and COVID-19 guidelines before attending an event or tour. And finally, don’t forget to stop by the Pro Shop to grab some souvenirs and show off your Chiefs pride!

KC Chiefs President Details Plans for Arrowhead Stadium Future

  • Author: Joshua Brisco

Kansas City Chiefs

Arrowhead Stadium, the home of the Kansas City Chiefs, first opened in August 1972. Now more than 50 years old, Arrowhead appears poised for another refresh — or a relocation.

In the midst of months of conversation and speculation regarding the Kansas City Royals' plans to move away from the shared Truman Sports Complex, the Chiefs have also narrowed down their options for the future, according to team president Mark Donovan in a press conference at Missouri Western State University to kick off Chiefs training camp in St. Joseph, Mo.

Asked about the Royals' plans and how it will impact the Chiefs' future home, Donovan said the team has a trio of paths they could take

“I want to be consistent and reiterate something that [Chiefs chairman and CEO] Clark [Hunt] said last time he spoke on this; if everything plays out the way we think it’s going to play out, our preference is to upgrade and renovate the stadium and make GEHA Field at Arrowhead even better," Donovan said on Friday. "We’ve gone through the process and made some progress there. There are still three viable options on the table and we’ve got to do the due diligence on: renovate/upgrade, build new on-site, or build new somewhere else. All three of those options are still part of our dialogue."

In March 2022, Donovan made waves by suggesting the Chiefs would consider a move from Missouri to Kansas , on the other side of the state line from their current KCMO home. Donovan did not specifically address a potential move to Kansas on Friday, but the team appears to be keeping their options open regarding renovation vs. relocation. Donovan noted that the half-century-old Arrowhead is still sturdy, but would require substantial renovations in years to come if they were to stay at Arrowhead.

"We’ve learned a lot in this process," Donovan said. "The good news is we think the building itself is actually, structurally, pretty sound, which gives us the opportunity [to renovate]. Having said that, we’ve learned that it’s going to take a significant annual investment to keep that building structurally sound. And the other thing we’ve learned on the good and the bad is, just like any project, there’s certain days where you get that phone call; it’s like, 'Hey, we just found this. Might be an issue.' And we’re talking about core samples of cement that was poured in 1970, those issues could be significant and they could factor into the decision."

Could the Chiefs be leaving Arrowhead Stadium? Kansas making pitch for franchise to cross state line

The chiefs have an option to leave missouri for kansas.

usatsi-20545178-168396417-lowres-1.jpg

The Kansas City Chiefs had every intent to remain in Arrowhead Stadium, extending the lease in a renovated facility and stadium complex that would keep the franchise in the state of Missouri for the next several decades. The renovation plans still have a hurdle to clear, and the state of Kansas is ready to pounce.

Per KCTV CBS 5 in Kansas City , the state of Kansas is looking to approve a House Bill that would change certain criteria for STAR (sales tax and revenue) bonds qualification. STAR bonds are a financing tool that allows Kansas municipalities to issue bonds to finance the development of major commercial, entertainment and tourism projects.

In this case, the attempt to lure the Chiefs to cross the state line from Missouri to Kansas is in play. The bill will also require any pro sports team development to include a 30,000-plus seat complex with at least $1 billion in investment. This is also an attempt to lure the Royals' new stadium plans into Kansas.

The Kansas City Chiefs announced plans to renovate GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium this year, but those plans may be changing thanks to some developments earlier this month. The voters in Jackson County, Missouri, rejected a sales tax measure that would have helped fund major renovations to Arrowhead Stadium and a new downtown ballpark for the Kansas City Royals.

With the measure not being passed, the Chiefs may have to look elsewhere and build a new stadium. A potential move to Kansas doesn't force the Chiefs to relocate to another city if they can't reach a deal with Jackson County. Kansas legislation doesn't have to put a stadium sales tax up to vote, giving the Chiefs an option they'll strongly consider.

"I do feel very much a sense of urgency, and we will approach it from a broader perspective going forward because time is short for us at this point. So, we need to see what other options are out there for us," Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt said at the conclusion of the draft Saturday, via a team transcript. "I really can't speculate on how any of that is going to turn out.

"GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium is a special place for our family and our fanbase. That was one of the reasons we focused on it with the last effort. Going forward, it may make more sense for us to be in a new stadium."

The Chiefs will have options in building a new stadium, which appears to be the plan going forward. Hunt isn't abandoning an opportunity to remain in Arrowhead Stadium, but getting a new stadium is gaining traction.

The new stadium may not be an open-air stadium either.

"We were obviously very focused on GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, obviously it's a special place for our fanbase and I believe it could be a special place for our fanbase for another 25 years with the right renovation," Hunt said. "But we're just going to have to be open minded in how we approach this.

"That may involve a new stadium, and it could be an open-air stadium or it could be a dome stadium."

Travis Kelce’s Teammate Recalls How Tight End Was ‘Blushing’ When Taylor Swift Went to Her First Game

"She's just such a genuine person," long snapper James Winchester said of the pop star.

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift

Travis Kelce was enchanted to have Taylor Swift at her first Kansas City Chiefs game in October, his teammate recalls.

On the latest episode of the Like a Farmer podcast Wednesday (May 8), long snapper James Winchester opened up about the pop star’s first Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium toward the beginning of her romance with Kelce — who was apparently rosy-cheeked due to her attending the Chiefs’ match against the Chicago Bears. “We’d heard rumors,” Winchester said. “We kinda heard, but [were] just like, ‘Ah, whatever.'”

A Timeline of Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce’s Relationship

It wasn’t until Winchester had a conversation on the sidelines with Chiefs equipment manager Jay White that he realized Swift was actually there in the flesh. “I just made this comment, I said, ‘Jay, I think this whole thing is just made up. I think it’s just a big rumor,'” the athlete recalled. “And Jay looked at me and he goes, ‘No dude, she’s here … she’s right there.'”

Trending on Billboard

The University of Oklahoma alum also revealed that he was present at the very beginning of Swift and Kelce’s love story, as he and his teammate both attended one of the “Anti-Hero” singer’s Eras Tour shows at Arrowhead in July. That’s where Kelce had originally intended on wooing his now-girlfriend by slipping her a bracelet with his phone number on it, an unsuccessful plan that the tight end lamented on his New Heights podcast shortly before he started dating Swift that summer.

Three months later, Swift made her first of many visits to Arrowhead to watch Kelce play, an event that absolutely blew up the internet at the time. Following the Chiefs’ victory against the Bears, the couple rode off into the distance together in Kelce’s convertible — and the rest was history.

“Later on that night I got to meet her, and the first thing she said was, ‘Hey, you’re the guy with the cute kids,’ because we’d had my son and daughter out on the field,” Winchester added on the podcast. “So I’m like, ‘Hey, I think I just became a T. Swift fan.’ We’re the same age, so I always heard her music. I’m a fan of her, yeah. Being around her this year and hearing everything … she’s just such a genuine person.”

Luzhniki Stadium

Luzhniki

Club: none | Opening: 1956 | Capacity: 81,006 seats

History and description

Luzhniki Stadium, initially called Central Lenin Stadium, was built between 1955 and 1956. It was the result of the ambition of the Soviet leadership to upgrade the country’s sports facilities after the Soviet Union had tasted its first post-war successes at the 1952 Olympics.

Works on Luzhniki Olympic Complex started in 1954 and construction of its centrepiece stadium, also called the Grand Sports Arena, in 1955. The stadium got finished in just 450 days and officially opened on 31 July 1956.

Luzhniki Stadium served as the centrepiece stadium of the 1980 Olympics, hosting the opening and closing ceremonies, athletics events, football finals, and equestrian programme.

In 1982, a stadium disaster took place at the stadium during a second round UEFA Cup match between FC Spartak and Dutch side HFC Haarlem. In the dying seconds of the match, people started rushing for the exits to make it to the metro before the rest of the crowd. When someone fell on the icy staircases, chaos ensued, and the resulting crush and domino effect killed 66 people.

Until the 1990s, the roofless stadium could hold just over 100,000 spectators. In 1996, the stadium got extensively renovated, which included the construction of a roof over the stands and the refurbishment of the seating areas, which resulted in a decrease of capacity.

In 1999, Luzhniki Stadium hosted the UEFA Cup final between Parma and Marseille (3-0), and in 2008 the Champions League final between Manchester United and Chelsea (1-1).

The stadium was regularly used by Spartak Moscow, lacking a home of their own, until they moved to the newly built  Otkritie Arena  in 2014.

When Russia got awarded the 2018 World Cup , it was soon clear that Luzhniki Stadium would host the final and as a result had to undergo a large redevelopment. It hosted its last football match in May 2013 and closed following the IAAF Athletics World Championships in August 2013.

Redevelopment works entailed the complete reconstruction of the stands, adding a second tier, the removal of the running tracks, and an expanded roof structure. The characteristic exterior of the stadium was left intact. Works were completed in the summer of 2017, and the first football match at the reopened stadium, a friendly between Russia and Argentina (0-1), was played on 11 November 2017.

During the 2018 World Cup, Luzhniki hosted the opening match, three more first round group matches, a round of 16 match, the semi-final between Croatia and England (2-1), and the final between France and Croatia (4-2).

How to get to Luzhniki Stadium

Luzhniki Stadium is located on the Luzhniki Sports Complex, an area of sports facilities and park land in a bend of the Moskva River about 6 kilometres south-west of Moscow’s city centre.

The stadium can be reached with the red metro line 1. Station Sportivnaya, or alternatively Vorob’yovy Gory, both lie within short walking distance of the stadium. Line 1 directly connects with Moscow’s city centre, and the ride from either Okhotny Ryad or Biblioteka takes no more than 10 minutes.

Luzhniki Stadium lies practically adjacent to Moscow’s Third Ring Road. If arriving by car, orientate yourself with regards to the Moscow River and take the first exit after crossing the Moscow River at the bend where the stadium is located.

Address: Luzhnetskaya naberezhnaya 24, Moscow

Eat, drink, and sleep near Luzhniki Stadium

Luzhniki forms part of the Luzhniki Sports Complex and is surrounded by other sports facilities and parks. Its location right on the river Moskva is pleasant on a summer’s day, but there is little around in terms of eating and drinking, which can therefore better be done in central Moscow.

If you’re into a bit of culture though, the nearby Novodevichy Convent is well worth a visit, while the Moscow State University building on the opposite side of the Moskva river is one of Moscow’s best-known landmarks.

There are a few hotels to choose from if you want to stay close to Luzhniki Stadium, most near Sportivnaya metro station, e.g.  Yunost Hotel , Business Hotel Spektr , Olimp Hotel and Blues Hotel .
