Stockholm currently has three major bus tour operators. Strömma and Red Sightseeing both offer "Hop on, Hop off"-tours. In other words, visitors join the tour for as long as they like and can choose to disembark from the bus at any of its stops. Ocean Bus , on the other hand, has a set route for their amphibian bus tours. The tour lasts about 60 minutes and you'll see the central parts of town both from land and the water.

The bus takes in most of the city’s top sights, including stops at Gamla Stan, the Royal Palace, Kungsträdgården, Skansen and the Royal Opera House – and you’re free to get off anywhere along the route, then get back on again when you’re ready.

The boat tour takes includes stops at the Vasa Museum, Skeppsholmen, the Abba Museum and the Fotgrafiska (Photographic Museum) – again, you can get off at any stop and spend as long as you like there before getting back on the next boat.

Both boat and bus have wifi and provide a full commentary on the sights en-route.

And if you’re short of time and want to see as much of the city as you can in 80 minutes, this panoramic bus tour does just that.

Settle in on the top deck of the bus and you’ll get great views of all Stockholm’s main sights through the large glass windows and roof.

In summer the roof is open, but don’t worry they can close it if it’s wet or cold and you’ll still get a great view through the windows.

The tour takes in top sights such as the City Hall, Östermalm, Gamla Stan, the Royal Palace and Djurgården. So sit back, listen to the commentary and enjoy the view!

And if you have got more time, you can spend the whole day on the bus, getting off and on again at any of the stops.

Go snowshoeing by minibus

You’ll be picked up in a minibus and taken out to the countryside to hike and explore the stunning snowy scenery. 

The guide will teach you how walk in snowshoes and you’ll set off on a guided hike through snow-covered woods and frozen lakes.

You’ll look out for deer tracks in the snow, and a warming lunch is included round a campfire.
