An HR recruiter from Gujarat has issued an apology after facing backlash over a LinkedIn job post stating “Marathi people are not welcome” for a Mumbai-based position.

The alleged hiring company, ITcode Infotech, has distanced itself from the discriminatory requirements for a Graphic Designer posted by Janvi Sarna.

The recruiter recently shared an "urgent hiring" update on LinkedIn, seeking a graphic designer with a year's experience for their Gurgaon office, offering a salary of Rs. 4.8 lakh per annum.

Applicants needed proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro, alongside basic skills like video/photo editing, social media posting, and photography understanding. However, the controversial requirement excluding Marathi individuals sparked criticism.

"We have been very inclusive, welcoming for everybody coming to Maharashtra But We get this discrimination in return," he added.

“Blatant Discrimination Against Marathi People.... It's sad to see discrimination against certain people in job descriptions, is it legal?" wrote another X user.

“Marathi people are one of the most welcoming and this is how these people repay the hospitality ? This is shamelessness to the next level. Please help stop this discrimination," stated another.

APOLOGY FROM HR RECRUITER AND ALLEGED HIRING COMPANY

As per screenshots circulating on X, the alleged hiring company stated that neither the HR recruiter, nor the job opening were related to the company.

"This is to inform you that I don't endorse such comments which discriminate against anyone. It was due to my oversight ,i posted this job opening here," she added.
