RENEWAL OF VOWS

husband and wife holds hands and a rose

Do you ever catch yourself thinking you’d totally marry your special someone again? A Renewal of Vows ceremony aboard a Carnival cruise is a great way to tie the knot a little tighter. Get ready to say “I still do!” as you celebrate the time you’ve spent together… and the years still to come. Make new memories as you affirm that your feelings remain every bit as strong as the day you first said those simple, powerful words. It wouldn’t be a ceremony without friends and family on hand, so feel free to invite them along — it’s a party, after all! This time, let Carnival take care of the little details that made the first time great: wine, music, wedding cake and more are included, with options for open bar and even more guests. The ship’s captain will actually officiate your ceremony, signing your certificate to seal the deal. Learn more about Renewal of Vows ceremonies.

Cruise Weddings: Everything You Need to Know

Getting married on a cruise is a one-of-a-kind experience. If you're considering having a cruise wedding, here is essential info to help you with the cruise wedding process.

We have included third party products to help you navigate and enjoy life’s biggest moments. Purchases made through links on this page may earn us a commission.

That First Moment

If you’re considering getting married abroad but can’t decide on a single location for your big day, you may want to consider a cruise wedding. Getting married on a cruise allows you and your guests to visit multiple destinations and easily stay close to one another—plus you can all enjoy the amenities a cruise ship has to offer. So, is a cruise wedding right for you? We talked to Heather Marohl of Travel Pros in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Frank Armstrong of Cruise & Vacation Travel in Le Roy, Michigan, and Julie A. Miller of Unlimited Vacations & Cruises in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, to get all the details on cruise weddings.

* Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, cruises are on hold for the time being. Please be sure and check local and federal guidelines before booking.

What types of couples and weddings are cruise weddings best suited for?

According to our pros, cruise weddings can work for a variety of different couples and styles. However, it’s best for those who don’t mind  letting go of the details  and keeping things simple. “From the flowers to the music, cruise weddings tend to be simple and you likely won’t have many choices to pick from, if any,” says Heather. In terms of wedding size, cruise ship weddings tend to work for  smaller guest lists —but some cruises can accommodate larger party sizes. Cruise weddings also can be ideal for couples who  don’t want any guests at all , and who want to combine their wedding or elopement with a unique honeymoon experience.

What are the cost differences between a cruise ship wedding and an “on-land” destination wedding?

“The  traditional destination wedding  is more costly, but you get a lot more options, more security—you are not at the whim of the sea—and you can have more people,” says Heather. “Cruise weddings, first you have to pay for the cruise itself, and then the wedding package. Some companies offer à la carte options, which can add up quickly. You will also have to pay for license fees, which vary by cruise line, per package, per location if you’re getting married on shore.”

How do cruise weddings work? Do couples typically get married on the ship or at a port?

It’s up to you. Some couples choose to get married on the ship before it departs, while others get married on land at a destination port. “If friends and family cannot afford to take the cruise but can be at the wedding, then having it on ship prior to sailing would be the logical choice,” says Frank. “If friends and family can go on the cruise, then there is nothing like being married in a tropical garden or on the beach in a Caribbean island.”

Can you legally get married on a cruise ship?

You’ll have to  take note of legal requirements  when it comes to getting married on a cruise ship or on land. Some countries have residency requirements, meaning you have to reside on the island for a certain period of time in order to legally marry there—not possible if you’re just making a cruise stop. Of course, you could legally marry in your home country before your cruise and have a symbolic wedding at the port. When it comes to getting married on a cruise ship, you’ll need to follow the laws of the country where the ship is registered. So you can easily marry on certain cruise lines’ ships, while there are others where you can’t. Be sure to do your research, talk to a  travel agent who specializes in weddings , and apply for licenses far in advance.

B. Jones Photography

How long of a cruise typically works best for a wedding.

If you’re planning on combining your wedding with a honeymoon, a five to seven-day cruise will likely be ideal. “If the wedding party can sail along with the couple, then the party continues for the entire cruise and that could also be a very memorable event for all,” says Frank.

Which wedding details will a cruise arrange? What is the couple responsible for?

If you’re getting married on the ship, the cruise will typically provide a  wedding coordinator  with their package. “Generally, the cruise line includes the flowers, music, photographer, and officiant (this could be the captain) in the packages, though some of these might cost extra,” says Heather. “The couple is responsible for, but not limited to, registering for their marriage license, their attire, and  the invitations .” If you’re getting married on land, you’ll be responsible for arranging all of the details—and it’s recommended to hire a planner at your wedding location to ensure that everything goes smoothly.

Are there any times of year that should be avoided when it comes to cruise weddings?

“This depends on the destination of your cruise,” says Heather. “The Caribbean’s hurricane season is from June 1 through November 30, so I would avoid booking during this time period as to not have to  deal with any unpredicted storms . The Greek Islands generally close for the off-season. Alaska cruises have a particular set of dates when they allow cruises.” Frank notes that holidays and the family vacation season (summer) can be quite  expensive and crowded  and might not be the best for a cruise wedding.

What are some popular cruise locations for weddings?

The Caribbean is most popular, but again, be aware of residency requirements before booking. St. Thomas, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, Jamaica, and St. Lucia tend to be popular. But don’t limit yourself to warm-weather locations! Why not try Alaska? Says Heather: “How many people can say they got married on a glacier?” There are also U.S.-based cruises, such as ones that sail along the New England and Canadian coastlines during the fall. Or for something completely different, the famed Queen Mary 2 offers weddings as it sails across the Atlantic Ocean!

Easton Studios

What are some popular cruise lines for weddings?

Many cruise lines and companies can accommodate weddings, including Princess Cruises , Disney Cruise Line , Carnival Cruise Line , Crystal Cruises , Celebrity Cruises , Norwegian Cruise Line , and Royal Caribbean , among others. These cruise lines offer a variety of routes and price points so it’s often best to work with a travel agent to find the exact cruise that best suits your desired event.

What can go wrong with a cruise wedding?

Mother Nature pose certain problems when it comes to cruise weddings. Cruises may skip ports due to weather, which can be a risk if you’re planning a wedding on land. And as we’ve seen, cruises can be at greater risk for COVID-19 outbreaks due to the close quarters.

How should you travel with valuable wedding essentials, such as rings and attire?

If you’re hosting a cruise wedding, it’s important to think about how you’ll be transporting your valuable items, such as your rings, attire, and more . When it comes to these items, it’s essential to have them close by at all times—do not check valuable items and do not showcase them out in the open. You might also want to bring a steamer on your trip to ensure that you can straighten out any attire that may become wrinkled in transport.

I must explain to you how all this mistaken idea of denouncing pleasure and praising pain was born and I will give you a Get a grip on the approximate number of guests you’ll invite before settling on a venue. This will ensure there’s ample space for your crew. As a rule of thumb, allow for 25 to 30 square feet per guest. That may seem like a lot, but it’s really not if you count the space you’ll need for the tables, bustling waiters, the band and a dance floor.

Request an extra hour for cocktails or for your band to throw in that Frank Sinatra sound-alike before you sign on the dotted line. Most vendors would rather secure the reservation than nickel-and-dime you early on (which might turn you off of them). Later on, though, they may be less inclined to meet you halfway.

Disney Cruise Wedding: Timaira & Dennis

March 20, 2019.

Disney Cruise Lines and Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons sure make a killer combination for a truly magical wedding. This wedding took place on the Disney Cruise Line on board the Disney Dream ship. We got to spend 3 marvellous nights aboard this vessel and it was so much fun from beginning to end.

I first met Timaira through a Disney Cruise Wedding group on Facebook called Disbrides. When we first starting chatting we hit it off right away and I could not wait to meet her in person. The Disney Cruise sailing they chose departed Port Canaveral on March 1, 2019. They chose to have their wedding on board the Disney Dream ship while it was docked in Nassau Bahamas. We were blessed with a beautiful sunny day.

I will say that everyone who attended this wedding was there to have a good time and celebrate! You really could feel all the love towards this beautiful couple. The wedding day began like all the others. Prep! With both the bride and groom. But this one had a special pit stop for a special Disney princess. We paid a visit to the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique where the flower girl was getting all dolled up. This place was super cool and I wish they had a spot like that on board for the adults.

The ceremony took place in the Atrium on the ship. With the grand staircase for the father-daughte r entrance it was perfect. The ceremony was short and sweet and after it was all said and done we headed to the reception space where guests snacked on delicious goodies and took in the open bar! They danced the afternoon away, cut the cake and downed some shots and before we knew it the reception was over. But, that is not where the fun ended.

We spent some quality time taking photos around the ship before all the other guests returned on board from their adventures in Nassau. With so many great photo op spots Disney Cruise Lines really designed this ship well.

Overall, I am happy to share all these wonderful photos from Timaira & Dennis’ wedding on the Disney Dream.

All About Disney Cruise Line Wedding Photography

Information and ideas about bringing your own Disney Cruise Line wedding photographer for a DCL Dream, Fantasy, Magic or Wonder celebration. Mikkel Paige Photography explains the pros and cons of each. | Disney Wedding Ideas | #mikkelpaige #disneycruiseline #disneybride #disneyweddingideas #DisneyWeddingPhotography #DisneyWedding

Bringing my own wedding photographer along for a Disney Cruise Line sailing to capture my wedding, instead of going with Disney Cruise Line Wedding Photography from Shutters, would be exactly what I would choose if I were getting married on DCL.

In fact, I don’t hide that I was once planning a wedding on a Disney cruise. I know firsthand why this type of wedding is especially appealing and unique. (The relationship didn’t work out the memories of booking a DCL wedding remain.)

Getting married on a Disney Cruise — whether on their private island, Castaway Cay (pronounced “key”), or aboard the ship, like in the Grand Hall on Disney Wish — is a singular destination idea that captures a Disney lover’s nostalgic heart.

Couple smiling during a rose petal toss at their wedding ceremony in the grand hall on Disney Wish. Photos by Mikkel Paige Photography.

The ships are impeccable . The staff is even nicer than any Cast Members at Walt Disney World or Disneyland, and there are very few variables to stay within budget. It’s a relatively economical option in the midst of surmounting wedding celebration costs these days that have a big memorable impact, thus making a Disney Dream wedding possible. (Literally and figuratively.)

Disney Wedding Planners Take Away a Lot of the Guesswork

Table of Contents

Disney Fairy Tale Weddings makes the “menu” for a wedding easy to understand and book; it takes away much of the guesswork for your budget.

Accordingly, it becomes increasingly appealing to raise your budget a little bit to bring along your own photographer.

If you are on any Disney Cruise Line bride or wedding forums you know it’s a topic often discussed. (I’m a part of a lot of those forums, so I see it all the time!)

Stick with me through this post because if you’re considering bringing along your own Disney Cruise Line wedding photographer, you’ll want to read all of this.

I cannot speak for other photographers – if you reach out to a different vendor about what they can provide for your wedding, it may be different.

For example, I make useful photography timelines for all my couples, whether DCL or otherwise. I don’t know if all the photographers you contact do the same. So this post pertains to my services, in particular.

Be sure to check out more information about what you get with Mikkel Paige Photography that you don’t with other photographers.

Mikkel Paige Photography, Destination Wedding Photographer and located in Raleigh, North Carolina and NYC, explains the difference you get when you hire her!

Onboard Disney Cruise Line Wedding Photography

Disney Cruise Line offers photography services on their ships. It’s my understanding the photographers utilized for weddings are the same photographers onboard who capture family photos before dinner, group character photo ops, and such.

Here’s the problem with this in a professional photographer’s eyes: they’re not wedding photographers.

Photographing a wedding is much different than photographing the sorts of things the Shutters team is responsible for on a day-to-day basis. Sure, you may luck out and get a great photographer. But the opposite can happen too, and you may get someone awful whose style you don’t like.

If you don’t bring your own photographer along for your Disney Cruise Line wedding, you are taking a risk going with onboard photography .

Imagine booking a wedding and not knowing who your photographer will be until you’re either aboard the ship or the DAY OF ?! Who needs that stress?

Concerns a Bride or Groom May Have Choosing Disney Cruise Line Photography

Here’s what I would fear as the bride if I chose to go with a DCL onboard photographer:

  • What if I don’t like the assigned photographer’s style? Come to think of it, I won’t even know what his or her photography style is until I see the photos after it’s all done – and I can’t re-do the day if I’m unhappy with the images.
  • His or her personality won’t mesh with mine – and getting along with your photographer impacts your comfort level in front of the camera, which shows in pictures.
  • I can’t call them ahead of time to coordinate/
  • They don’t do things like “getting ready” candids or detail photos before the ceremony, and I love those images.
  • I don’t believe they edit the images at all and they certainly don’t Photoshop things. (What if you have a pimple the day of the wedding?!)
  • There’s an immediacy after the wedding if you go with a DCL photographer to pick photos before you leave the ship. I wouldn’t want to choose photo prints BEFORE disembarking when my family and friends are there to have fun with. It’s an inefficient use of precious time.
  • What if I want more than two hours of coverage? As far as I’m aware you can ONLY add one hour of additional coverage to the hour included with their three photography packages – you max out at two hours.

Wouldn’t you want to be enjoying your cruise and vacation instead of stuck inside deciding on photo prints for thirty minutes to hours before you disembark? There are already enough photos I need to select simply from days aboard the ship between dinners and character meets without the added pressure of choosing my wedding photos the day of or the day after.

What if your ceremony is even closer to the end of the cruise? That means you have an even bigger time crunch on your hands to select prints before you get off the ship. Sigh – I can feel the pressure as I write this, and it’s simply a theoretical scenario, albeit a real one if you select onboard photography.

Disney Cruise Line Photography Costs

DCL Photography is an add-on to the cruise you select, it’s not automatically part of the wedding or vow renewal package.

In addition to being able to add things onto your wedding cruise, like bouquets, boutonnieres, tiki torches and even edible wedding favors, you can add on photography.

They sell three packages with various costs (listed below, pricing as of spring 2019) and associated print packages. It is my understanding the add-on offering includes one hour of photography. Digital image files and additional hours of photography can be added to the collection for a cost.

  • Celebration Package: $349.95 ($85 will be added to a Castaway Cay Ceremony for added time required) – includes 25 photo prints of 5×7″ and 8×10″ sizes and one 8×10″ image folio
  • Wishes Package: $549.95 – includes 45 photo prints of 5×7″ and 8×10″ sizes
  • Magic Package: $999.95 – includes 60 photo prints of 5×7″ and 8×10″ sizes (evenly split), 25 wedding announcements and a jump drive of all wedding images

A jump drive (or flash drive) can be added to the Celebration or Wishes Packages for $399.95.

Here’s an example of what I would have to pay, as the bride, if I wanted the first three items below:

  • Celebration Package
  • Married at Castaway Cay
  • Add a jump drive
  • Total cost for above: $834.90
  • Let’s call it $835, just for photography alone, for ONE HOUR

In simpler terms, you’re getting:

  • One hour of photography
  • 25 to 60 prints, depending on package booked
  • Jump drive of digital images, also dependent on package booked or add-on
  • For a cost of approximately $1,000

Even if you book a Wishes Package and add on a jump drive, it’s about $950.00.

And if you book a Magic Package, with the jump drive included, it’s just under $1,000 with Shutters.

Mikkel Paige Photography explains the pros and cons of each. | Disney Wedding Ideas | #mikkelpaige #disneycruiseline #disneybride #disneyweddingideas #DisneyWeddingPhotography #DisneyWedding

You have to ask yourself if these packages make sense for your needs.

Personally, I would want prints of a few sizes – probably even an 11×14″ print which they don’t even offer in a package. The wedding announcements wouldn’t be important to me, but the flash drive would be.

But what if I LOSE the drive on my journey home?! Or what if I bend the images I’m taking from the ship?

8×10″ images are pretty easy to bend while traveling through ports, airports and car rides.

Bringing your own photographer is getting even more appealing now when you can just get prints online and have them safely shipped to your home.

Benefits of Bringing Along Mikkel Paige Photography to be Your DCL Wedding Photographer

Here’s what you get with Mikkel Paige Photography you don’t with the onboard DCL option and perhaps not even with other photographers:

Assurance Before Your DCL Wedding with Mikkel Paige Photography

  • The exact photographer you’re hiring includes my artistic eye, someone with over a decade of experience as a photographer who specializes in weddings, engagements, and proposals.
  • We communicate before, during, and after the wedding. Isn’t it nice to know you can still contact your photographer after your wedding when you leave the ship?
  • Customized wedding day photography timeline. (Regardless if you have two hours of coverage, five hours or more.)

During Your Disney Cruise Wedding

  • You get 3 to 5 hours of photography depending on your individualized needs, discussed beforehand as I learn more about the specifics of your wedding. This includes getting ready photos, detail pictures, like of your rings and dress, your ceremony and reception celebration, and photos around the ship. (Check out Brittany and Josh’s DCL wedding on the Disney Dream as an example of the complete coverage I provide.)
  • You’re able to add on coverage during the rest of the cruise, if you would like a rehearsal dinner or welcome party added, or even a beach/Castaway Cay session if you get married onboard.
  • Experience with various lighting situations. It’s not easy for an inexperienced photographer – or someone who doesn’t specialize in weddings, which are quick-moving and don’t allow for beach lighting setups – to capture weddings in full sun on the beach. I have a lot of experience capturing beach weddings throughout my decade in the wedding industry.
  • I’m truly an avid traveler. I travel between 20 to 30% of the year and have photographed various Destination Weddings from Norway , to Jamaica , Dominican Republic and of course on Disney Cruise Line. I run the website Sometimes Home as well as a cruise travel website , Sometimes Sailing. Check out our post about Proof Disney Cruise Line is for Adults Too or Things to do at Walt Disney World Besides the Parks . This means if problems arise during your sailing, I won’t panic or get flustered! I know how to manage problems that may arise when traveling.

After Your DCL Wedding Sailing

  • A password-protected, online gallery to share with family and friends. This means you can simply forward a gallery link and password to them after your cruise.
  • Digital files of the images, accessible through your online gallery. This means…no need to worry about where that jump drive went after you return home from your cruise!

Disney Cruise Line Wedding Photos, images by Disney Photographer, Mikkel Paige Photography.

  • Prints and assorted products can be purchased from your online wedding photography gallery for at least a year after the gallery is released. There’s no need ot stress about selecting prints when you could be enjoying the little time left of your cruise instead.
  • Do you know I was a professional retoucher? I worked at Rent the Runway for a few years as their sole full time, on staff photo retoucher. Rest assured if you have a pimple the day of your wedding I’ll edit that out. (I treat others how I want to be treated and I would want that done for me if I had a blemish on my face the day of the wedding!) Minimal retouching in included and I automatically edit things like that as I complete your wedding gallery.
  • I LOVE the wedding albums I offer. You’re able to order professional album(s) either by including it in your wedding photography services from the get-go for an additional savings, or any time after the wedding.

As a reminder, be sure to read more information about what you get with Mikkel Paige Photography that you don’t with other photographers if you haven’t already read it! It includes more crucial information I didn’t want to repeat above but is nonetheless significant.

What to Expect in Terms of Cost to have Mikkel Paige Photography as your Disney Cruise Line Wedding Photographer

Here’s the Catch 22 of the equation: you’re getting married with DCL because it’s affordable and uncommon. But you want to bring your own photographer, which increases costs. I completely understand.

Photography is not an area to cut-costs if you can afford it, however.

The cruise ends. Images last a lifetime.

Here’s what to expect in terms of cost to bring me along for to be your Disney Cruise Line wedding photographer:

  • Travel (including the cruise plus tips/gratuities, driving to the port and some additional costs of doing business that involve travel)
  • Investment for photography services, dependent upon the couple’s wedding needs

Money is a touchy subject. I get it. I love being creative but don’t love talking about money. Most people don’t enjoy it. It’s personal and usually not the “fun” part. But it’s necessary to address.

I admit I’m continuously surprised by the amount of DCL wedding inquiries I receive each year who expect me to photograph a wedding for free or simply in “exchange” for a cruise.

I find that people who are willing to do that either don’t do this full time (which creates its own issues should you should be hiring a full time wedding photographer) or are very inexperienced.

Why bringing along your own photographer means paying for photography in addition to the cost of the cruise

While a cruise may be appealing and exciting, I am a serious photographer who works in this career full time. I have been on Disney Cruise Line several times. (Which is great advantage because I’m familiar with the ships and Castaway Cay.)

For someone who travels professionally and personally as often as I do, the plain truth is a cruise vacation isn’t going to pay the very real cost of me doing business when I owe money to the IRS at the end of the year, as any legitimate business owner does. Or have to pay a mortgage every month.

Camera Insurance, for one example, is a real cost to professional photographers and cannot be paid in cruise bookings. And unfortunately, neither can I. I do, however, offer discounts to DCL couples that you wouldn’t be able to take advantage of on land because I love DCL so much.

The good news is you actually get more with me than DCL onboard photography.

Here’s a few things I need to keep in mind when discussing the investment a couple has to make to bring a photographer on their cruise. I elaborate on each point below in this section of the post:

  • Availability for multiple days, sometimes even two weekends
  • Travel costs to/from Florida, including port parking if need be
  • Cruise cost that does not go towards my services – it simply gets paid to Disney Cruise Line

Availability for Multiple Days , Sometimes Even Two Weekends

If your cruise spans a weekend, like the 3-Day sailings, please consider the side of the photographer. I have to reserve three days for your sailing, dedicated to one couple:

  • Saturday, the most popular day to get married
  • Sunday, the second most popular day for weddings
  • Friday, the third most popular days for weddings

It’s rare I book three weddings a weekend – I actually wouldn’t want to because wow, exhaustion! But it’s not so uncommon to be booked for what photographers call a “double header” for popular wedding weekends, which means two weddings in a row.

If I’m on a cruise I am not available to photograph anyone else’s wedding. This is a risk to me as a photographer who books a limited amount of weddings a year to give every couple the attention and focus they deserve. So it’s something I have to consider.

That being said, I love DCL weddings!

If a couple books a 7-Day or 14-Day cruise then I have to consider dedicating multiple weekends to them so I can be on their sailing.

This is part of why a photographer needs to be paid for her services in addition to the cruise and travel cost the couple covers. You’re not only booking the wedding day – it’s reserving dates a photographer can potentially book if working on land, so she can be on your 3-Day, 4-Day or 7-Day cruise, for example.

Travel Costs to/from Port Canaveral, Florida

I operate my business from three primary locations: south Florida, North Carolina and New York. This simply means I have to travel to/from Port Canaveral, Florida (if this is the port for your sailing) to sail on the cruise. This is quoted in your custom photography collection; costs vary based on time of year and may include mileage and/or parking at the port terminal.

Why I Prefer to Drive to/from the Port (Including Port Parking if needed)

It’s likely I’ll drive to the port on the east coast instead of flying. Why? I want to know my photography gear is safe and sound! And I don’t have to rely on air travel to get there, with all its uncertainties.

Driving myself to the port means I know  my camera gear is in my hands.

Port parking garage costs is already included in my travel estimation included in your photography quote. I can’t get on the ship if I’m not at the port.

Cruise Cost In Addition to Photography Services

I need to be on the cruise to photograph your wedding.

Any money a couple pays me for their DCL wedding – let’s say $5,000 – includes money I’m simply turning around to use to pay for travel, including to the cruise line and the port. Which means I am being paid a  portion of that amount for my services and expertise to document your day.

I’m a professional, which is why you contacted me, right? Professionals are paid for their services.

I totally get it: Disney Cruise Line is a cost effective way to get married and it’s often a couples’ way of making a wedding budget + vacation + memorable location work. To think photography could be equal to or more than the entire cost of the wedding (excluding the cost of the couple’s sailing too) is sometimes hard to wrap your head around.

But I can’t be there to photograph a wedding unless I’m on the ship…and I wouldn’t be able to do my job and have all these years of experience unless it was my full time career.

Comparison: DCL vs. Mikkel Paige Photography

Here is your investment for on board, DCL photography services using the example above under the Disney Cruise Line Photography Costs heading:

  • A photographer who you don’t know and have never spoken to
  • Photo prints you need to choose before you exit the ship
  • Approximate cost: $1,000

Here is your investment to have Mikkel Paige Photography photograph your wedding:

  • 3 to 5 hours of coverage
  • Mikkel, herself: a photographer you’ve communicated with multiple times and ways (including FaceTime or Skype sessions) before the big day and can contact afterward
  • A photography style you’ve already seen, love, and trust
  • Ability to book more photography coverage for events before/after the wedding day aboard the ship as needed (like a dinner or beach session)
  • Customized wedding day photography timeline
  • Ability to order professional products – including prints and albums – any time after the wedding
  • Approximate cost NOT including travel falls between $1,000 to $2,000 depending on hours of coverage, whether 3, 4 or 5 hours. This means I offer a savings of 50% off to DCL brides (because I’m a Disney fan and love DCL).

It’s a heck of a great investment for my photography services compared to Disney Cruise Line staff’s offering.

(Please note: I don’t bring a second photographer along for a DCL wedding – it’s absolutely unnecessary for a wedding which is almost always less than 50 people. I photograph about half of all my weddings solo, including luxury weddings on land, and destination weddings all over the world, with over 100 guests.)

Either you can pay them $1,000 for an hour of photography with minimal results in a number of ways or you can invest a little more for your photography, including more hours of coverage, and better results.

Choosing the Right Cruise Ship Wedding

When it comes to choosing the right cruise ship for your wedding, it’s important to consider several factors that will contribute to the overall experience. Here are some key considerations to help you make the best choice:

  • Destination: Think about the destination you’ve always dreamed of for your wedding. Whether it’s the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean, the stunning fjords of Alaska, or the romantic cities of Europe, different cruise ships offer different itineraries. Research the destinations offered by various cruise lines and choose one that resonates with your vision.
  • Ship Size: The size of the ship can greatly impact the atmosphere and overall feel of your wedding. Larger cruise ships offer a multitude of onboard amenities, entertainment options, and dining choices. They may also have dedicated wedding chapels or venues that can accommodate a larger guest list. On the other hand, smaller ships provide a more intimate and personalized experience, with the opportunity to explore smaller, off-the-beaten-path ports of call.
  • Wedding Packages: Research the wedding packages offered by different cruise lines. These packages generally include the ceremony, officiant, flowers, decorations, cake, and sometimes even photography. Consider your budget and desired level of customization when evaluating the packages. Some cruise lines also offer additional add-ons, such as live music, upgraded menus, or onboard spa treatments.
  • Wedding Coordinator: Find out if the cruise line provides a dedicated wedding coordinator to assist you throughout the planning process. Having an experienced professional to guide you through the logistics and details can alleviate stress and ensure that your vision for the perfect day is brought to life.
  • Guest Accommodations: Consider the comfort and convenience of your guests. Ensure that the cruise ship has enough cabin options to accommodate the number of attendees, as well as amenities and activities that will keep everyone entertained throughout the duration of the cruise.
  • Budget: Set a clear budget for your cruise ship wedding and research the costs associated with each option. Take into account the wedding package, guest accommodations, travel expenses, and any additional expenses you may incur, such as customizations or onboard activities.

By carefully considering these factors, you can select the cruise ship that aligns with your wedding vision and ensures that you and your guests have an unforgettable experience.

Selecting Dates and Planning Ahead

Choosing the perfect date for your cruise ship wedding requires careful consideration and planning. Here are some important factors to keep in mind:

  • Availability: Check with the cruise line to determine which dates are available for weddings. Popular cruises and peak travel seasons tend to book up quickly, so it’s advisable to inquire and secure your desired date well in advance. This will give you more flexibility and ensure that you get the date that works best for you.
  • Guests’ Availability: Consider the availability of your guests when selecting the wedding date. Consult with your close family and friends to find a date that works for everyone. It’s a good idea to send out save-the-date cards or notifications well in advance, allowing your guests enough time to plan their travel arrangements.
  • Weather: Research the weather patterns of your chosen destination during your planned wedding dates. Consider potential climatic conditions, such as hurricane seasons or extreme temperatures. While it’s impossible to predict weather conditions far in advance, consulting historical weather data can give you a general idea of what to expect during that time of the year.
  • Special Occasions: Determine if there are any special events or holidays during your desired dates. While getting married on a special occasion can add an extra layer of excitement, keep in mind that there may be increased demand and prices for travel and accommodations during these times. Additionally, availability of wedding packages or onboard activities may be limited, so it’s important to plan ahead and secure your reservations early.
  • Personal Significance: Consider if there are any meaningful dates or anniversaries that hold significance to you and your partner. Getting married on a date that is special to you can add an extra layer of sentiment to your wedding day.
  • Plan Ahead: Once you have chosen the date for your cruise ship wedding, start planning ahead. Make a checklist of all the tasks and deadlines you need to meet, such as sending out invitations, finalizing guest accommodations, choosing vendors, and confirming wedding package details. Create a timeline to ensure that you stay on track with your preparations and make the most of your planning process.

By carefully considering these factors and planning ahead, you can select the ideal date for your cruise ship wedding and ensure that everything falls into place seamlessly.

Budgeting for a Cruise Ship Wedding

Planning a wedding can be a significant financial undertaking, and budgeting is an essential aspect of the planning process. When it comes to budgeting for a cruise ship wedding, here are some key factors to consider:

  • Wedding Package Costs: Begin by researching the wedding packages offered by the cruise line of your choice. These packages usually include the ceremony, officiant, flower arrangements, decorations, wedding cake, and sometimes photography. Carefully evaluate the costs associated with each package to determine the best fit for your budget.
  • Customizations: Decide on any additional customizations or upgrades you would like for your wedding day. These might include live music, upgraded menus, additional decorations, or specialty cakes. Keep in mind that each customization may come with an additional cost, so factor these into your budget as well.
  • Guest Accommodations: Consider the costs of guest accommodations and factor them into your budget. Different cabin categories have varying price ranges, so take into account the number of guests and their preferences when selecting accommodation options.
  • Travel Expenses: Depending on the cruise itinerary, there may be additional travel expenses involved, such as flights to the port of departure or transportation to and from the port. Research these costs and factor them into your budget accordingly.
  • Additional Expenses: Think about any additional expenses you may incur during the cruise, such as onboard activities, specialty restaurants, or spa treatments. It’s important to budget for these extras to ensure you can fully enjoy your wedding experience without stressing about additional costs.
  • Wedding Attire and Accessories: Don’t forget to set aside a budget for your wedding attire, including the wedding dress, groom’s attire, and accessories. Consider any alterations, special shoes, or jewelry that you may need.
  • Vendor Costs: If you plan to hire additional vendors for services such as photography, videography, or music, research the costs associated with these services and incorporate them into your budget. Keep in mind that some cruise lines may have restrictions on external vendors, so be sure to check with your wedding coordinator.
  • Contingency Fund: It’s always a good idea to have a contingency fund for any unforeseen expenses that may arise during the planning process or on the wedding day itself. Setting aside a small percentage of your overall budget for unexpected costs will give you peace of mind in case anything unexpected happens.

By carefully considering these factors and creating a detailed budget, you can ensure that you have a clear understanding of the costs associated with your cruise ship wedding and avoid any financial surprises along the way.

Legal Requirements and Documentation

When planning a cruise ship wedding, it is essential to be aware of the legal requirements and documentation needed to ensure a legally binding marriage. While the specific requirements may vary based on the cruise line, ship, and destination, here are some general guidelines to consider:

  • Marriage License: Research the marriage license requirements for both the country where the ship is registered and the destination(s) where the ceremony will take place. Check if the cruise line will assist in obtaining the necessary marriage license or if you need to obtain it on your own. Be aware of any waiting periods or residency requirements that may be imposed by the destination.
  • Identification Documents: Ensure that you and your partner have valid passports, as well as any other required identification documents, such as birth certificates or driver’s licenses. Some countries may have specific entry visa requirements, so check with the respective embassy or consulate if necessary.
  • Divorce or Death Certificates: If either you or your partner has been previously married, you may need to provide divorce decrees or death certificates to demonstrate the dissolution of previous marriages. Check the specific requirements for each destination to ensure compliance.
  • Translations and Notarizations: If any of your documents are in a language other than English, you may need to have them translated into the required language and notarized. Check with the appropriate authorities to ascertain if this is necessary.
  • Witnesses: Confirm the number and age requirements for witnesses to the wedding ceremony. Some destinations may require a specific number of witnesses, and they may need to be of legal age.
  • Legalization and Apostille: Some countries require additional steps, such as the legalization or apostille of documents. This involves getting official approvals or certifications from the respective authorities to validate the authenticity of the documents.
  • Wedding Officiant: Check if the cruise line provides qualified wedding officiants or if you need to arrange for your own. Depending on the ship’s registry and the destination’s requirements, there may be specific qualifications or certifications needed for the officiant.
  • Pre-Wedding Counseling: In some cases, destinations may require pre-wedding counseling or blood tests. Familiarize yourself with the specific requirements of the destination to ensure compliance.

It is essential to consult with the cruise line’s wedding planner or coordinator to obtain accurate and up-to-date information regarding the legal requirements for your cruise ship wedding. They can guide you through the necessary steps and help ensure that all legal documentation is in order, allowing you to have a hassle-free and legally recognized wedding ceremony.

Wedding Packages and Customization Options

One of the advantages of having a cruise ship wedding is the convenience of inclusive wedding packages offered by many cruise lines. These packages are designed to provide all the essentials for your special day. Here are some key points to consider when exploring wedding packages and customization options:

  • Package Inclusions: Review the details of the wedding packages offered by the cruise line. Typically, these packages include the ceremony venue, officiant, floral arrangements, decorations, wedding cake, and sometimes photography services. Be sure to understand exactly what is included in the package and any limitations or restrictions that may apply.
  • Upgrade Options: Explore any upgrade options available to enhance your wedding package. This may include options such as upgraded floral arrangements, premium cake designs, live music or entertainment, upgraded menu selections, or additional photography or videography services. Consider these options based on your preferences and budget.
  • Customizations: Determine if the cruise line allows for customizations to their standard wedding packages. This could involve adding personalized touches, such as incorporating your own vows, selecting specific music or readings, or including cultural or religious rituals. Discuss customization options with the wedding coordinator to ensure your vision for the ceremony is realized.
  • Additional Services: Inquire about any additional services or amenities that can be added to your wedding package. This may include arranging spa treatments, reserving private dining experiences, organizing group shore excursions for your guests, or planning pre- or post-wedding celebrations. Explore these options to create a comprehensive and memorable wedding experience.
  • Photography and Videography: Assess the cruise line’s photography and videography services included in the wedding package. Review sample portfolios to ensure their style aligns with your preferences. If desired, inquire about the possibility of bringing in your own professional photographer or videographer, as some cruise lines allow for outside vendors at an additional fee or with specific requirements.
  • Wedding Reception: Determine if the wedding package includes a reception after the ceremony and what options are available. This may range from intimate dinners at specialty restaurants to grand receptions in dedicated venues onboard the ship. Consider the number of guests, your budget, and your desired atmosphere when selecting the reception options.
  • Personalization Opportunities: Discuss any opportunities for personalization, such as creating customized wedding invitations, favors, or welcome gifts for your guests. These small details can add a special touch to your wedding and make it truly unique.

By carefully reviewing the wedding packages and exploring customization options, you can select a package that aligns with your vision, budget, and personal preferences. Don’t hesitate to communicate your desires and requests with the cruise line’s wedding coordinator to ensure your dream wedding becomes a reality.

Coordinating with Wedding Planners and Cruise Staff

When planning a cruise ship wedding, you will have the support and expertise of wedding planners and cruise staff who are dedicated to ensuring your special day goes smoothly. Here are some important points to consider when coordinating with them:

  • Initial Consultation: Schedule an initial consultation with the cruise line’s wedding planner to discuss your vision, preferences, and any specific requirements for your wedding. This will help establish clear expectations and enable the planner to guide you in the right direction.
  • Clear Communication: Maintain open and clear communication with your wedding planner throughout the planning process. Clearly communicate your priorities, preferences, and any changes or updates that may arise. Respond promptly to their requests for information or decisions to ensure a smooth planning process.
  • Clarify Expectations: Clearly communicate your expectations for the wedding day, including the ceremony and reception details, preferred vendors (if applicable), and any personalized elements you wish to include. Providing a clear vision will help the wedding planner and cruise staff work together to create the wedding of your dreams.
  • Regular Updates: Stay connected with the wedding planner and cruise staff by scheduling regular updates or check-ins. This will allow you to address any concerns, ask questions, or make adjustments as needed throughout the planning process.
  • Timeline and Deadlines: Work with the wedding planner to establish a timeline and adhere to deadlines for tasks such as selecting wedding packages, customizations, vendor selections, and guest accommodations. This will help ensure that all elements are arranged in a timely manner and reduce any last-minute stress.
  • Onboard Meetings: If possible, schedule in-person meetings with the wedding planner and cruise staff once you embark on the cruise ship. Use this opportunity to review all the details and finalize any remaining arrangements. This will allow you to address any last-minute concerns and ensure that everything is in place for your wedding day.
  • Rehearsal: Coordinate the wedding rehearsal with the wedding planner and cruise staff. Walk through the ceremony and reception details, ensuring that everyone involved understands their roles and responsibilities. A rehearsal will help alleviate any nerves and ensure a smooth flow on the actual wedding day.
  • Day-Of Coordination: Trust the expertise and professionalism of the cruise staff on the wedding day. They will work diligently to ensure that everything runs smoothly, from setting up the ceremony and reception venues to coordinating with vendors and managing any unexpected situations. Allow them to take care of the logistics while you focus on enjoying your special day.
  • Express Gratitude: After the wedding, take the time to express your gratitude to the wedding planner and cruise staff for their efforts in making your wedding day memorable. A simple gesture of appreciation goes a long way in acknowledging their hard work and dedication.

Coordinating with the wedding planners and cruise staff is crucial for a successful and stress-free cruise ship wedding. By maintaining clear communication, adhering to timelines, and building a trusting relationship, you can ensure that your wedding day is flawlessly executed.

Guest Accommodations and Invitations

When planning a cruise ship wedding, it’s important to consider the accommodations and invitations for your guests. Here are some key points to keep in mind:

  • Guest Accommodations: Work closely with the cruise line to ensure that there are enough accommodations for your guests. Check the availability of cabin categories and ensure that they align with the preferences and budgets of your guests. Consider reserving a block of cabins to secure availability and potentially receive group booking discounts.
  • Informing Guests: Notify your guests about the wedding as soon as possible. Send out save-the-date cards or notifications well in advance to allow them time to plan and make any necessary travel arrangements. Include all relevant information such as the cruise line, ship name, embarkation port, wedding date, and any additional events or activities you have planned.
  • Invitations: Follow up the initial notification with formal invitations. These can be sent electronically or through traditional paper invitations, depending on your preference. Include details such as the ceremony and reception times, onboard dress code guidelines, and any specific instructions or requirements for the wedding day.
  • Travel Planning Assistance: Provide your guests with travel planning assistance by sharing helpful information such as recommended flights, transportation options to the embarkation port, and any special arrangements made for group transfers. Including contact details for a designated point person who can assist with questions or concerns will also be appreciated.
  • Group Activities: Plan pre- or post-wedding activities for your guests to enjoy together. This could include welcome gatherings, group shore excursions, or informal get-togethers onboard the ship. Organizing group activities fosters a sense of camaraderie and allows your guests to make the most of their time together.
  • Wedding Website: Consider creating a wedding website to provide your guests with additional information about the cruise ship, the destination(s), travel tips, and a detailed itinerary of the wedding events. This can also serve as a platform for collecting RSVPs, sharing updates, and communicating important details with your guests.
  • Guest Favors: Show appreciation for your guests’ presence by providing thoughtful wedding favors. These could be small mementos, personalized tokens, or practical items that will remind them of the special occasion. Consider incorporating elements that reflect the cruise ship wedding theme or the destination.
  • Follow-Up Communication: Keep in touch with your guests leading up to the wedding. Send reminders, updates, and any additional information they may need to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience. Encourage them to reach out if they have any questions or concerns and assure them that you are there to assist.
  • Special Considerations: Take into account any special considerations for your guests, such as dietary restrictions, mobility issues, or medical requirements. Communicate these to the cruise line so that appropriate arrangements can be made to ensure the comfort and enjoyment of all attendees.

By thoughtfully planning guest accommodations and invitations, you can ensure that your loved ones feel welcome, informed, and excited to be a part of your cruise ship wedding. Their presence and support will contribute to making your wedding celebrations all the more memorable.

Onboard Activities and Entertainment

When planning a cruise ship wedding, it’s important to consider the onboard activities and entertainment options available to you and your guests. Here are some key points to keep in mind:

  • Pre-Wedding Gatherings: Take advantage of the various facilities and venues onboard the ship to organize pre-wedding gatherings or welcome parties. This could be a casual get-together at one of the ship’s bars or lounges, a poolside meet-and-greet, or a more formal cocktail reception.
  • Spa and Wellness: Indulge in relaxation and pampering by booking spa treatments for you and your wedding party. Many cruise ships have luxurious spas offering a range of services, including massages, facials, and beauty treatments. Treat yourself to some pre-wedding self-care and rejuvenation.
  • Recreation Opportunities: Cruise ships are equipped with a myriad of recreational activities to keep you and your guests entertained. From swimming pools and water slides to sports courts, fitness centers, and even rock climbing walls or zip lines, there is something for everyone to enjoy during their time on the ship.
  • Specialty Restaurants: While most cruise ships offer dining options included in the fare, consider treating your guests to a memorable dining experience at one of the ship’s specialty restaurants. These establishments often offer gourmet cuisine and a more intimate atmosphere, providing a perfect setting for a rehearsal dinner or post-wedding celebration.
  • Evening Entertainment: Cruise ships are renowned for their evening entertainment, which may include Broadway-style shows, live music performances, comedy acts, and dance parties. Coordinate with the ship’s entertainment staff to ensure that there are engaging activities for your guests to enjoy during your wedding celebrations.
  • Group Shore Excursions: Plan group shore excursions to give your guests the opportunity to explore the ports of call together. Cruise lines offer a variety of excursions, ranging from guided city tours to adventure activities, cultural experiences, and beach outings. This allows your guests to have shared experiences and create lasting memories during the cruise.
  • Unique Onboard Experiences: Research the unique onboard experiences offered by the cruise line, such as wine tastings, cooking classes, art auctions, or educational seminars. These activities can add an extra dimension to your wedding celebrations and provide opportunities for your guests to bond and engage in enriching experiences together.
  • Casino and Nightlife: For those who enjoy some late-night excitement, cruise ship casinos provide an entertaining and lively atmosphere. Additionally, the ship’s bars, lounges, and nightclub venues offer opportunities for your guests to dance, socialize, and celebrate long into the night.
  • Personalized Activities: Consider coordinating personalized activities or surprises for your guests, such as a themed costume party, a group photo session, or a private gathering for your wedding party. These personalized touches add a special touch to the overall wedding experience and create lasting memories.

By exploring the onboard activities and entertainment options available, you can enhance the wedding experience for both you and your guests. From relaxation and wellness to exciting excursions and unforgettable entertainment, a cruise ship wedding provides a wide range of activities to ensure that everyone has a truly memorable time onboard.

Selecting Vendors for Photography, Flowers, and Cake

While many cruise ship wedding packages include the services of photographers, florists, and pastry chefs, you may have the option to select external vendors for these important elements of your special day. Here’s what you need to consider when choosing vendors for photography, flowers, and cake:

  • Photography: Research the photography options available onboard the cruise ship. Review the sample portfolios provided by the cruise line’s recommended photographers to ensure their style aligns with your preferences. If you prefer a different approach or have a specific photographer in mind, check if the cruise line allows for external vendors and if there are any additional fees or restrictions involved.
  • Flowers: Consider your floral preferences and consult with the onboard florist provided by the cruise line. They will be familiar with the options available, taking into account the destination, season, and ship’s resources. If you have specific floral arrangements in mind or desire a wider selection, inquire if external florists are allowed and what requirements must be met.
  • Cake: Review the cake options offered by the cruise line. Determine if they can accommodate any dietary restrictions or specific design requests. If you have a specific cake design in mind, discuss it with the cruise line’s pastry chef. Alternatively, find out if you can bring in an external baker to create a custom cake that meets your vision.
  • Vendor Experience and Reputation: Whether you choose vendors provided by the cruise line or bring in external vendors, it’s important to research their experience and reputation. Read reviews, view their portfolios, and ask for references to ensure they have a track record of delivering high-quality work.
  • Communication and Personalization: When selecting vendors, consider their responsiveness and ability to understand your vision and preferences. Ensure that they are willing to customize their services based on your specific requirements and offer open lines of communication throughout the planning process.
  • Budget Considerations: Compare the costs of using external vendors versus the services provided by the cruise line. Take into account any extra fees, such as corkage fees for the cake or photography permits for the ship. Balance your desire for specific vendors with any budgetary constraints you may have.
  • Coordination and Logistics: Discuss the logistics of working with external vendors with the cruise line’s wedding coordinator. Determine if there are any restrictions or requirements for vendors boarding the ship or delivering their services onboard. Coordinate with the wedding coordinator to ensure a smooth collaboration between the vendors and the cruise ship staff.
  • Insurance and Contracts: If you decide to bring in external vendors, make sure they have appropriate liability insurance coverage. Review all contracts carefully and ensure that they outline the specific services, deliverables, payment terms, and cancellation policies. Protect yourself and your investment by clarifying these details in advance.

By carefully considering these factors and making informed decisions, you can ensure that the vendors you choose for photography, flowers, and cake contribute to the overall success and beauty of your cruise ship wedding. Whether you opt for onboard services or bring in external vendors, make sure your vision is realized and your wedding day is everything you dreamed of.

Finalizing Details and Rehearsal

As your cruise ship wedding date approaches, it’s time to focus on finalizing the last details and ensuring that everything is in place for your special day. Here are some important steps to take during this phase:

  • Review Contracts and Confirmations: Double-check all contracts and confirmations with the cruise line, vendors, and any external service providers. Ensure that everyone is clear on the agreed-upon details, including dates, times, venues, services, and any special requests or customization. Make note of any outstanding payments and confirm deadlines.
  • Finalize Guest Accommodations: Confirm the guest accommodations with the cruise line, ensuring that all rooms are properly allocated and any specific requests or special needs have been addressed. Communicate the instructions for embarkation to your guests, including meeting points and times, as well as any documents they may need to bring onboard.
  • Seating Arrangements: If you are planning a reception, finalize the seating arrangements for your guests. Consider any special requests, groupings, or preferences when arranging the tables. Create a seating chart or placeholders as necessary and provide this information to the cruise line’s staff for set up on the wedding day.
  • Rehearsal: Schedule a rehearsal with the wedding coordinator and anyone involved in the ceremony, such as the wedding party, officiant, musicians, and readers. Walk through the ceremony processional, exchange of vows, and recessional to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and knows their roles. Take this opportunity to address any last-minute questions or concerns.
  • Finalize Playlist and Readings: Confirm the music selection and any readings or speeches that will take place during the ceremony. Provide the necessary information to the musicians, readers, or speakers. If you have specific timing or cues, communicate them clearly to ensure a smooth and coordinated flow during the ceremony.
  • Check Transportation Arrangements: If you have arranged for transportation to and from the embarkation port or any off-ship activities, reconfirm the details and ensure that everything is in place. Communicate the transportation information to your guests so that they are aware of the arrangements and can plan accordingly.
  • Delegate Wedding Day Tasks: Assign specific tasks or responsibilities to trusted individuals who can assist with any last-minute errands or tasks on the wedding day. This may include coordinating with vendors, overseeing guest arrivals, or handling any unexpected situations. By delegating these responsibilities, you can focus on enjoying your wedding day.
  • Finalize Payments and Tips: Settle any outstanding payments with the cruise line, vendors, and service providers. Prepare envelopes with tips for vendors who have provided exceptional service and plan to distribute them accordingly on the wedding day or before, depending on the cruise line’s guidelines.
  • Confirm the Wedding Day Itinerary: Review the final wedding day itinerary with the wedding coordinator and ensure that all details are accurate. Share the itinerary with the key members of your wedding party and any guests who may need to be aware of specific timing or events during the day.
  • Take Some Time for Yourself: Amidst all the final details and preparations, remember to take some time for yourself to relax, reflect, and prepare for your wedding day. Get a good night’s sleep, eat well, and engage in activities that help you feel calm and centered. This will ensure that you are ready to fully enjoy and embrace every moment of your special day.

By finalizing these details and conducting a rehearsal, you can feel confident that everything is in order for your cruise ship wedding. Remember to stay organized, communicate effectively, and trust in the support of the wedding coordinator and cruise line’s staff to make your wedding day a truly memorable experience.

Enjoy delicious cuisine crafted by the ship’s talented chefs, who will have prepared a delectable menu tailored to your preferences. Raise a toast to your new union and share heartwarming speeches, laughter, and joyful moments with your guests.

Throughout the reception, the ship’s staff and wedding coordinator will ensure that everything flows smoothly. They will coordinate the timing of the events, assist with any necessary announcements, and be there to anticipate and fulfill any last-minute requests or needs.

Immerse yourself in the festivities, dance to your favorite tunes, and celebrate with your guests, surrounded by the luxurious ambiance of the cruise ship. The onboard entertainment and live music will add to the merriment, creating an unforgettable experience for all in attendance.

Throughout your wedding day, professional photographers will be there to capture every cherished moment, from the exchange of vows to your first dance as a married couple. They will expertly document the emotions, joy, and love felt during this special day, providing you with beautiful and lasting memories of your cruise ship wedding.

Post-Wedding Celebrations:

Extend the celebration beyond the wedding day by planning post-wedding activities. This could involve organizing group shore excursions at the ports of call, hosting informal gatherings onboard the ship, or even arranging a post-cruise celebration at your final destination.

Continue cherishing the moments with your loved ones and create lasting memories as you explore new destinations or relax and unwind on the remainder of your cruise. The wedding experience on a cruise ship offers the perfect blend of romance, adventure, and celebration, making it a truly unforgettable journey for everyone involved.

As the sun sets on your wedding day, take a moment to reflect on the incredible memories made, the love shared, and the beginning of a lifelong journey. Your cruise ship wedding will forever remain a cherished chapter in your love story.

Post-Wedding Activities and Celebrations

Your cruise ship wedding doesn’t have to end with the ceremony and reception. Extend the celebration and create lasting memories with post-wedding activities and celebrations. Here are some ideas to consider:

Group Shore Excursions:

Take advantage of the exciting ports of call during your cruise and plan group shore excursions. Explore the local attractions, indulge in unique cultural experiences, or partake in thrilling adventures together. From city tours to snorkeling trips, there are plenty of options to suit different interests and preferences. These group adventures will provide an opportunity for your guests to bond, create shared memories, and continue the celebration in new and exciting destinations.

Informal Gatherings:

Organize informal gatherings onboard the ship, such as poolside parties, sunset cocktail hours, or casual group meals. These relaxed and laid-back events will allow your guests to mingle, reminisce about the wedding day, and enjoy each other’s company. It’s also an opportunity to thank them for being a part of your journey and to express your appreciation for their presence and support.

Post-Cruise Celebrations:

If your cruise concludes at a destination that holds significance to you and your partner, consider extending the celebrations with a post-cruise gathering or party. Book a venue at the destination and invite your closest family and friends to join you for a reception or dinner. This is a chance to continue the festivities and spend quality time with loved ones while reveling in the memories of your beautiful cruise ship wedding.

Toast and Thank You:

Take a moment during one of the post-wedding activities or celebrations to express your gratitude and toast to your guests. This is a wonderful opportunity to thank everyone for their presence, support, and love throughout the journey. Raise a glass, share heartfelt words, and let your guests know how much their presence has meant to you.

Relaxation and Reflection:

After the excitement of your wedding day, take some time for you and your partner to relax and reflect on the journey you’ve embarked upon. Whether it’s indulging in a couples’ spa treatment, finding a quiet spot on the ship’s deck to watch the sunset, or simply spending quality time together, prioritize having moments of calm and intimacy amidst the celebration. This will allow you to savor the memories and strengthen the bond between you as newlyweds.

Create a Wedding Album or Video:

Once you have returned from your cruise ship wedding, gather the beautiful photographs taken by the professional photographers and any video footage captured. Compile these precious memories into a wedding album or video that you can share with your loved ones. Reliving the joyous moments through images and videos will keep the memories of your cruise ship wedding alive and cherished for years to come.

Plan a Wedding Celebration at Home:

If you want to extend the celebration even further, consider planning a wedding reception or party back home to include those who couldn’t attend the cruise ship wedding. This is an opportunity to share the joy and happiness of your wedding day with a wider circle of family and friends. It can be a formal affair or a casual gathering, depending on your preferences and budget.

By planning post-wedding activities and celebrations, you can prolong the joy and create even more cherished memories with your loved ones following your cruise ship wedding. The adventure continues beyond the ceremony and reception, allowing you to fully embrace the journey of love and celebration.

A cruise ship wedding offers a unique and unforgettable experience, combining the joyous celebration of your union with the adventure of exploring beautiful destinations. From the moment you say “I do” against the backdrop of breathtaking ocean views to the post-wedding activities and celebrations, a cruise ship wedding creates cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

Throughout the planning process, considerations such as choosing the right cruise ship, selecting wedding packages, coordinating with wedding planners and cruise staff, and finalizing all the details ensure that your wedding day is seamless and stress-free. The convenience of having everything in one place, from the ceremony to the reception and guest accommodations, eliminates the need for additional logistics and allows you to fully immerse yourself in the joy of your special day.

With the ocean as your backdrop and the luxurious amenities of the cruise ship at your disposal, your wedding day will be filled with beauty, romance, and adventure. The onboard activities and entertainment options provide a perfect blend of relaxation, excitement, and celebration for you and your guests, ensuring that every moment is filled with love and happiness.

As your cruise ship wedding comes to an end, the post-wedding activities and celebrations continue the joyous experience. Take a look at their dream DCL wedding through their photography below.

Getting Ready With Elsa & Anna

The morning of the wedding started off with Alison getting ready with her sister while listening to Frozen songs. It was a lighthearted and fun way to ease into the big day. The excitement was palpable, and it was clear that both Alison and her sister were thrilled to be a part of this special occasion.

Alison looked absolutely stunning in her wedding gown, which was complemented by a bouquet of pink roses. Her sister was by her side every step of the way, helping her with her hair and makeup and making sure that everything was perfect.

The First Look Aboard The Disney Dream

One of the most emotional moments of the day was the first look between Alison and Thomas. They chose to have their first look on the 3rd deck of the ship, with the stunning ocean views peeking through the windows as their backdrop. As Thomas turned around and saw Alison for the first time, the joy and love on his face was evident. It was a moment that they will both treasure forever.

DCL Wedding Photography Bride & Groom Portraits

After the first look, Alison and Thomas had their bride and groom portraits taken throughout the ship. We were able to capture stunning images of them on the deck, in the atrium, the Walt Disney Theater, and in various other locations. The photos were truly breathtaking, and they perfectly captured the magic of their day and DCL wedding photography.

DCL Wedding Ceremony Aboard The Dream

The ceremony took place at the Outlook Lounge, which offered panoramic views of the ocean. The lounge was decorated with a few personal touches. It created a romantic and intimate atmosphere. As Alison walked down the aisle, she was accompanied by her father, who looked just as emotional as she did.

The ceremony itself was beautiful, with heartfelt vows and readings that left not a dry eye in the house. The officiant was fantastic, bringing warmth and humor to the proceedings. When Alison and Thomas exchanged rings and kissed, it was clear that they were meant to be.

Cake & Champagne Celebration At The Outlook Lounge

After the ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests transitioned the Outlook Lounge for a cake and champagne celebration. The cake was a two-tiered creation with white fondant and intricate floral details. It tasted just as good as it looked, and everyone enjoyed a slice (or two) as they toasted the happy couple.

DCL Wedding Photography At Castaway Cay

One of the perks of having a DCL wedding is the opportunity to have a portrait session on Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island. Alison and Thomas took full advantage of this, and their photos on the island were absolutely stunning. From the pristine beaches to the lush greenery, the island provided a stunning backdrop for their honeymoon photos.

Firework Photos During Pirate Night

An additional highlight to a DCL wedding are the firework during Pirate’s Night. Alison and Thomas slipped back into their wedding attire and posed for photos with the stunning fireworks display behind them. It was a fun and festive way to capture some truly memorable moments.

Amid the glitz and glamour of Victoria Beckham 's extravagant 50th birthday bash, Tom Cruise showcased a moment of chivalry as he helped a photographer who had stumbled outside the venue.

The Top Gun actor, exuding his trademark suave demeanor in a sharp black suit and shades, diverted from entering the festivities to assist the paparazzo, who had taken a tumble. With effortless grace, the 61-year-old extended a helping hand, swiftly grasping the photographer's arm and aiding him back to his feet.

Victoria's milestone celebration unfolded in grandeur at Oswald's in Mayfair, London, where she spared no expense in orchestrating an unforgettable evening. Accompanied by her husband, David, and their brood of Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper, the fashion icon radiated jubilance as she marked the occasion in style.

Among the star-studded guests were Victoria's fellow Spice Girls  -- Melanie Chisholm , Geri Halliwell ,  Emma Bunton  and  Melanie Brown  -- all arriving to revel in the festivities. Cruise himself, alongside Victoria's close confidante Eva Longoria, crooner Marc Anthony, and a plethora of other renowned personalities, converged on the exclusive members' bar.

An eyewitness tells ET, "Tom was in amazing spirits while celebrating Victoria’s birthday. He had great energy and was dancing throughout the entire night. He had so much fun."

On Saturday, David, 48, treated his Instagram followers to a special performance from Victoria's 50th birthday celebration: a Spice Girls reunion.

"I mean come on x @victoriabeckham @melaniecmusic @officialmelb @emmaleebunton @gerihalliwellhorner 💚💛🧡💜💙," David captioned the post.

In the video, the camera pans to Victoria (Posh Spice), Geri (Ginger Spice), Emma (Baby Spice), Mel B (Scary Spice) and Mel C (Sporty Spice) all in a line doing their iconic dance moves while singing their hit, "Stop."

While the Spice Girls are in action during the moment, David sings along with the rest of the room.

Victoria celebrated the moment on her respective Instagram.

"Best night ever! Happy Birthday to me! I love you all so much! #SpiceUpYourLife," the fashion designer captioned the video.

Mel B also shared the video on her Instagram alongside a cheeky caption.

"About last night #tourdatescomingsoon," she wrote on the video.

Meanwhile, Emma posed with Mel C prior to the party.

"Off to celebrate our special girl @victoriabeckham #spicegirls #holdontoyournickersgirls," she captioned the post featuring her and Mel C posing in their gowns.

The Spice Girls reunion comes one month after the group marked the 30th anniversary of their auditions. The last time the women officially reunited was for their tour in 2013, though Victoria notably skipped out on it.

"Today marks the 30th anniversary of the very first Spice Girls auditions!" they wrote last month. "What started back in 1994 has turned into an amazing journey, way beyond anything we could have ever imagined. Thank you to our fans for your support from day one #FriendshipNeverEnds ."

In the video montage, set to their 1996 hit, "Wannabe," the women are shown dancing and goofing around with each other while wearing casual '90s outfits.

In January, Mel B opened up about the bond the women share after three decades of friendship.

"I was a Spice Girl at the age of 17. I'm old," she told Jennifer Hudson at the time. "I'm feeling old right now. But it is amazing that we've managed to kind of still stay friends. It's been 30 years. What you go through as a group... you are just welded together for life because you've been through such a crazy experience."

Couple go viral for doing most Aussie thing ever at their wedding

A young couple are going viral for doing the most Aussie thing ever on their wedding day, which people online are calling “amazing”.

A newly married couple have just done one of the most Aussie things ever on their big day.

When you think of Australian weddings, you usually think of white dresses, men in R.M. Williams boots, and someone’s aunty getting a bit too loose when the Nutbush comes on.

These days, people are constantly posting their wedding moments online. Usually, the most exciting thing we get is when the bridesmaids learn a dance or someone is giving their speech by rapping, but this was far more Aussie.

This couple’s wedding is going viral for a very Aussie reason. Picture: TikTok/dreamcaveweddings

Newlyweds Tilly and Max have taken it one step further and are going viral for hosting a meat tray raffle at their reception.

The clip posted by wedding photography company, Dream Cave, showed the moment the reception, held in Victoria’s Daylesford, paused so the raffle could occur.

“I tell couples to make their wedding reception interactive so they’ve got photos of their guests having a great time, and Tilly and Max did not disappoint!” the company wrote alongside the video.

Couple hold a meat tray raffle during their wedding

The TikTok has amassed over 200,000 views and 12,000 likes.

Usually, the MC’s primary job at a wedding is to desperately try to talk over the best man’s X-rated jokes and wrap up the maid of honour’s longwinded speech, but on Max and Tilly’s special day, the MC was busy hosting a raffle.

The couple said the idea was born from living a stones throw from an RSL and spending their Friday evenings at the local raffle.

“Why not share the love and excitement of a meat raffle with our loved ones?” they said.

They announced the winner during the reception. Picture: TikTok/dreamcaveweddings

On their big day despite the backdrop of a gorgeous rustic venue and people being dressed in cocktail attire, the raffle was pretty traditional and looked like something you’d see at your local bowling club at 6.30pm on a Friday.

The caller yelled out that the winning number and then a man in a black suit strolled up and said, “I’ll take it”, and everyone cheered.

Tilly and Max then posed with the winner for a photograph as he proudly displayed his meat tray, which featured sausages and steak.

The video has amassed thousands of views. Picture: TikTok/dreamcaveweddings

Rarely does something go viral that people can agree is universally great but this is one of those cases. Who doesn’t love a meat raffle? The clip amassed plenty of comments, all of which were positive.

One wrote, “When people ask what Aussie culture is, this is it! Meat tray raffles and beer.”

“This is genius,” another praised, while someone else called it “so good” and another remarked it was the “best thing ever”.

One person tagged their mate and joked, “If you’re not having a meat tray, I’m not coming”.

Another pointed out that winning meat during a cost of living crisis is a big score.

“In this economy! I’d be thrilled to go home drunk with a meat tray,” the person commented.

Someone else said that their partner was a pub owner and they thought introducing a meat raffle into a wedding was “brilliant”.

Alex Cooper's Dad Didn't Walk Her Down the Wedding Aisle: 'Never Loved That Tradition'

“My mom also walked herself down the aisle, so in a sense, I guess we are creating our own tradition for the women in our family,” the podcaster told 'Vogue'

Alex Cooper always planned to go solo down the aisle.

So when the Call Her Daddy host, 29, said “I do” to her longtime love , Hollywood producer Matt Kaplan , earlier this month, that’s exactly what she did.

Speaking with Vogue about her and Kaplan’s nuptials in Riviera Maya, Mexico, the podcaster revealed that from the beginning of the wedding planning process, she “really rejected the concept of being walked down by a man to be handed to another man."

"Although to clarify I have such an incredible relationship with my father and both of my parents—it wasn’t about that,” she told the magazine. “To me personally, I just never loved that tradition. It’s old and antiquated.”

Not only that, but Cooper’s mother had rejected the convention years ago.

“My mom also walked herself down the aisle, so in a sense, I guess we are creating our own tradition for the women in our family,” the podcast host explained.

But Cooper’s dad did ultimately play a crucial role in her and Kaplan’s wedding.

Jon Kopaloff/Getty

At the reception, following a fun-filled evening (“The vibes were immaculate,” per Cooper), he announced on a microphone that everyone was expected to run into the ocean — still wearing their formalwear.

And, to Cooper’s surprise, nearly everyone obliged.

“I was expecting maybe just my close friends to join in, but to my complete shock almost the entire wedding took charge to the ocean,” she told the magazine. “Parents, grandparents, family and friends.”

As for the actual moment she and Kaplan tied the knot, the couple enlisted the help of different family members — their pups, Henry and Bruce, who the couple sees “as our children,” per Cooper.

“They were the ring bearers,” the Call Her Daddy host revealed. “They each had one of our rings around their collar and when my brother asked for the rings, they had their own moment entering from the double doors and came running down the aisle.”

“It was perfection,” she added.

Putin rounds up illegal migrants to send to the frontline in Ukraine as Vladimir exploits Moscow massacre anti-migrant backlash to find more cannon fodder

  • Follows multiple arrests of Tajik nationals over Crocus Concert Hall terror attack

Vladimir Putin is rounding up illegal migrants in Russia  to fuel his bloody invasion of Ukraine, just days after four Tajik nationals were charged over the Crocus terror attack in Moscow, with migrant groups left fearing bloody retaliation.

Paddy wagons sporting the National Guard insignia arrived at a vast online shopping warehouse in Elektrostal, Moscow today, where thousands of migrant workers were reportedly forced to show their documents.

Checks were carried out by armed and masked Russian guards and military enlistment officers, before at least 40 people were hauled away from the Wildberries warehouse.

More operations in kind are said to be planned, as Putin seeks more cannon fodder for his ongoing war in Ukraine.

It comes just days after the Crocus City Hall atrocity, which led to the deaths of at least 140 people after gunmen stormed a packed concert venue in the capital and indiscriminately targeted civilians before setting the building on fire.

A number of men from Tajikistan have since been detained in connection to the attacks, which have been claimed by jihadist group Islamic State.

Friday's horror attack has been linked to a rise in tensions, with the BBC today reporting an increase in beatings and racism aimed at Central Asian migrants - and the embassy of Tajikistan in Russia warning citizens not to leave their homes unless necessary.

Vehicles emblazoned with Rosgvardiya (Rosguard, the National Police) were seen outside the warehouse in Moscow as officials rounded up illegal migrants, some destined for Ukraine

Some of the migrants detained today will reportedly face the choice of jail or expulsion - or fighting in Ukraine for Russia.

Migrants who have been granted Russian citizenship also express fears they may be called up.

'They check who is on the side of the military, and who is evading,' one said. 'Those who evade can be taken away against their will.'

'Whoever resists is beaten with sticks by the riot police,' said another worker.

A further 38 employees of the warehouse will undergo additional checks with law enforcement to 'clarify' information gathered already, the Wildberries company told state-owned news agency RIA.

It came a day after Putin spoke on the urgency of bringing the 'migration sphere ... under control' at a meeting with the board of the Prosecutor General's Office, RIA noted.

Putin reportedly ordered that measures be handled 'professionally and competently' to 'facilitate the adoption of legal, informed and fair decisions'.

Still, critics fear the atrocity in Moscow last week is already leading to discriminatory behaviour towards migrants living in Russia.

In Novgorod region, it has been prohibited to hire foreign workers in the transport sector.

State Duma deputy Dmitry Gusev has also called for a complete 'audit' of all labour migrants living in the country - as well as those who have recently received Russian citizenship.

In Moscow, a 29-year-old woman from Yakutia was surrounded by a hostile mob on the metro and subjected to vile racist abuse.

'Get the **** out of here,' she was told - even though she is a Russian citizen.

The group reportedly ally with neo-Nazi Maxim Martsinkevich, nicknamed Tesak, meaning Machete, who died from 'asphyxia' in a Russian jail in 2020.

The scared woman said: 'It was 6.30 pm. I was waiting for the train… Very young guys…came up to me.

Putin says Moscow concert gunman were 'radical Islamists' but refuses to say they were from ISIS - as he insists the terrorists had been trying to 'flee to Ukraine'

'One of them, the most active one, took a metal bat out of his jacket and showed me.

'They surrounded me and began to humiliate me… They called me names from the platform based on my nationality and appearance.'

She said no-one came to her aid.

Two of those threatening her were detained today and face questioning.

On Telegram, migrants from Tajikistan have shared messages expressing fears the community in Russia will suffer for the Crocus attack, as reported by the BBC.

Sharing their concern over retributive attacks, one said: 'Please, God, let [the attackers] be Ukrainian instead.'

Russia's Federal Security Service, or the FSB, said it had arrested 11 people the day after the attack, including four suspected gunmen.

Moscow's Basmanny District Court identified the four suspects behind the attack as Dalerdzhon Mirzoyev, 32; Saidakrami Rachabalizoda, 30; Shamsidin Fariduni, 25; and Mukhammadsobir Faizov, 19.

The four men, identified as Tajik nationals, appeared in a Moscow court on Sunday on terrorism charges and showed signs of severe beatings.

One appeared to be barely conscious during the hearing.

The men were charged with committing a group terrorist attack resulting in the death of others. The offence carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

They were all ordered to be held in pre-trial custody until May 22.

Mirzoyev and Rachabalizoda admitted guilt after being charged, according to AP, citing court officials.

While Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack, President Vladimir Putin has said the four men were arrested while trying to flee to Ukraine.

Kyiv denies any connection to the attack.

Putin has made no reference to ISIS' claims.

US intelligence also said after the attack it had information confirming ISIS was responsible for the attack.

Yesterday, head of Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) Alexander Bortnikov bizarrely pinned blame on the United States, Britain and Ukraine.

Speaking after the meeting with the board of the Prosecutor General's Office, he was asked whether the US, Britain and Ukraine were behind the terrorist attack, according to Russian news agency TASS .

'We believe that this is true. In any case, we are now talking about the factual information we have. This is general information, but they have a long record of this sort.'

'What is [Ukraine] expected to do to demonstrate its capability? It is expected to carry out sabotage and terrorist acts in the rear,' he continued.

'This is what both the chiefs of Ukraine's special services and the British special services are aiming at. US special services have repeatedly mentioned this, too.'

The Crocus Concert Hall was attacked by armed gunmen on March 22, when terrorists opened fire on civilians and set the auditorium on fire in Russia's deadliest attack in 20 years.

According to the latest data, 140 people have been confirmed dead as a result of the attack, the most recent dying in hospital today.

A total of 80 people injured in the attack remain hospitalized, the official added, and 205 others have sought outpatient medical assistance.

The Moscow Times reported today as many as 360 had been injured in the attack.

Three days before the attack, Putin denounced the U.S. Embassy's March 7 notice urging Americans to avoid crowds in Moscow , including concerts, calling it an attempt to frighten Russians and 'blackmail' the Kremlin ahead of the presidential election.

After Britain echoed the notice, Kremlin mouthpieces accused both of 'complicity' if terrorists did hit Moscow.

ISIS' news agency Amaq released sickening a 90-second selfie video of the attack that is too graphic for MailOnline to share

The news of a terror warning on March 7 came only hours after the FSB claimed to have thwarted an ISIS plot to slaughter Jews in a Moscow synagogue.

It was unclear whether the events are linked.

According to the FSB, a large cache of weapons and bomb parts were found during a raid on an Islamic State cell in Kaluga, southwest of the capital.

Russian state media reported militants had been gearing up to shoot Jewish worshippers at a synagogue in the capital before security officials stormed the premises and gunned them down.

'While being arrested, the terrorists put up armed resistance to the Russian FSB officers, and as a result were neutralised by return fire,' the Russian state-owned TASS news agency quoted the security service as saying in a statement.
