Dancing With the Stars formally kicked off its post- Tyra Banks chapter on Monday with the release of Season 32’s official poster, which places new hosting duo Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough front and center.

As previously reported, Hough stepped in for Banks, whose departure after three seasons was announced in March. (Ribeiro has been with DWTS since Season 31.)

Conspicuously missing from the new poster: a specific fall premiere date. (You can glimpse ABC’s strike-altered fall schedule here .)

The full Season 32 cast — which so far includes Vanderpump Rules ‘ Ariana Madix  — will be unveiled on Good Morning America on Sept. 13.

Judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli will all return for the new season, although it remains to be seen if the show will replace former head judge Len Goodman, who retired at the end of Season 31 (and  sadly passed away  in April after a battle with bone cancer).

Banks took over as  Dancing ‘s sole host in September 2020, after Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews were abruptly fired  from the series earlier that summer. At the time, executive producer Andrew Llinares — who later departed  Dancing  ahead of Season 31 — called the hosting shake-up a necessary “evolution” for the show.

Tyra was a terrible fit for the show. Thankful she’s out. Still think Tom and Erin got the shaft. Alfonso and Julianne will probably be fine. Will miss Len tremendously.

“At the time, executive producer Andrew Llinares — who later departed Dancing ahead of Season 31 — called the hosting shake-up a necessary “evolution” for the show.”

Really? REALLY? A superior “evolution” would have been attracting actual STARS. I quit watching when Tom and Erin were unceremoniously fired. Not sure I’ll give the show another chance. Not interested in watching “influencers” and “reality show” brats!!!

Same here. Would not watch the Tyra fiasco. Still on the fence if I will watch again. But this group of hosts/judges might bring it back into mey life. We’ll see.

Actual STARS are probably too busy with their careers to waste time ona show like DWRS.

Thank God. I stopped watching DWTS because of Tyra Banks!

Tyra was awful in so many ways. Not a.big fab of the Houghs but they are an improvement. They do need a Len type judge

There will never be another Len. One of a kind. Derek can be as precise, and I like him. He has big shoes to fill, I think he has become the embodiment/spokes person for ballroom dance, along with his sister. He can’t be Len, but things always change from generation to generation.

Thank God the show is coming back to channel 7 (in Los Angeles). One of the few things my Aunt Marguerite Ray and I enjoyed together was watching the show. We know longer had that because we both refused to purchase Disney+. During that time she passed away. I will continue to watch for the both of us, and remember her with fond memories.

I’m sorry for your loss.

Marguerite Ray from the Young and the Restless? I loved her. I’m so sorry for your loss.

I expect it to premiere on Monday, Oct. 2 (following NFL games on Sep. 11, 18, 25), but I wonder if the strike makes any difference. I’m sure it does for who they can get to participate… but I wonder about the date.

I don’t think the strike bans them appearing as themselves.

Correct: https://tvline.com/lists/actors-strike-questions-answered-game-shows-soap-operas-sag-aftra/

I think while a loophole may exist for SAG members to appear on DWTS, they might be cautious on the optics of still helping one of the big producers (ABC/Disney) that they are striking against in helping them with content to fill during the strike. I’m guessing we will only see SAG members were weren’t getting much work even without the strike and then reality stars, social media stars and athletes rounding out the cast.

I don’t know if Alfonso is a SAG member, but he is an actor. I’m sure it will be hard for him, but if the SAG-AFTRA contract allows for the exemption, I know he’ll do a stellar job.

Football is scheduled to return on 11/20 according to the most recent available schedule. Which would put the 11/6 & 11/13 as the November dates.

Reality shows don’t apply to the actors strike

Correct: https://tvline.com/lists/actors-strike-questions-answered-game-shows-soap-operas-sag-aftra

That’s Julianne Hough? I’ve only ever seen her on DWTS, but I would have never guessed that’s her.

The Photoshop is strong on both, yikes!

It is, but if I had just seen the image at the top of the article with no context, I would have recognized Alfonso. Would have never guessed Julianne.

Just so happy that Tyra is gone!!!!!!! I still miss Tom – he was the best!! – but I can live with Alfonso & Julianne as long as she doesn’t overdo it. She can be a bit much! But still way, way better than Tyra!! And I still love the pros! Also, hope they stick to 3 judges. With Len gone, we don’t need a 4th judge.

I still think DWTS was wrong to get rid of Tom and Erin as hosts. BIG mistake. That said, Alfonso will be fine, IMO. He stepped in for Tom once years ago and did a great job. (I hated him as a guest judge though) Julianne is loved by many. I think she’ll make a good host as well though she does get to be a bit much for me at times. I have no clue why I’m even commenting. I stopped watching DWTS years ago. lol. Maybe I’ll start watching again. .

I think it is shameful the way Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews were treated. I have not watched the show since they decided to fire them.

If I can’t have Tom and Erin back, Julianne and Alfonso will be ok, especially after the Tyra debacle! I’d love to See Cheryl Burke in the judges chair as well. She’s the ultimate pro and has so much experience.

Thank Goodness Tyra is gone. She never did get the show was DANCING With the Stars, not PRANCING Around the Stars

Finally NO Tyra. Now I will watch DWTS again. Thank you for to her GONE.

perfect hose choices So glad DWTS is back in regular tv Now I can watch properly again

I hate Alfonso Ribero as well – can we already get him replaced?? Bring back Tom Bergeron or someone equally likeable. That’s not Alfonso or Tyra.

Tyra was only on for two seasons.

Alfonso is terrible on AFV, almost can’t stand him. His banter between videos is sickening cutesy, his interviews of weekly winners are poor. Good thing I don’t watch DWTS.

I’m sure there are writers who script that banter and interview questions. It was the same with Tom B.

It’s almost like you’ve never watched AFV before.

I stopped watching when they let disgraced political operatives, who openly lied to us as a country, onto the show for image rehab. Bleugh. It’s a big no.

Don’t watch anymore. Loved Tom and Erin and you used to actually have STARS…..not so called celebrities no one has ever heard of. I like Julianne ok….don’t know about as a host….but Alfonso I don’t care for.

I am so glad for the new hosts. I love them. It was time for Tyra to go!

I love the new hosts. They will bring elation and great dancing to Dancing with the Stars

I am sooooooo happy Tyra Banks is gone! She was so terrible at hosting the show.

Good to see that they are going back to abc and Hulu. I think they realized a lot of people left them because of that. Good to see Alfonso is back. I still miss Erin Andrew’s and Tom Bergeron, that was another bad move they made for no good reason.

Alfonso is too childish as a host! I will have to pass as I did when Tyra hosted. I really miss DWTS!!

Glad Andrew Llinnares is gone! He all but ruined one of my favorite shows!!

If the show is live both on-air and streaming, what will happen on Disney+ while ABC is running commercials?

I want Tom and Erin back!!!!!!

Glad, SO Glad Tyra is out!!! Now get rid of Alfonzo!!! Won’t watch because of him. Big mouth, thinks it’s all about him! He’s just a male version of Tyra

I’m glad that dancing with the stars is returning back to ABC so that the world can see these stars hidden talents on the dance floor. I’m truly looking forward to the premiere of the show which kicks off this fall, I suggest if there’s no one to fill Lens seat as a judge, the producer and executive producer should do something out of box and give me a try at judging I able to add a lil something to the show, willing to give a new venture to even myself I go by the name of Mikey G. And I’m from Clinton Hill Bklyn NY, Hey ya never know new ideas, new creation to keep this show running as long as Soul Train did from back in the 70’s to this Millennium era. 👌🏾

Great .So happy DWTS is coming back to ABC.

The stars officially put their dancing shoes on come September 26, 2023 , with season 32 episodes slotted on Tuesday nights from 8 p.m. ET to 10 p.m. ET. What's more, in a twist, news broke that Dancing With the Stars will return to ABC while also keeping its live broadcast on Disney+. As folks may know, season 31 streamed exclusively on Disney+.

Reacting to the announcement, judge Carrie Ann Inaba took to Instagram to express her gratitude with viewers. "Been thinking about @dancingwiththestars and I’m so pleased that we are back on @abcnetwork along with @disneyplus," she wrote on May 22. "This allows for even more people to have access to our show and it allows the people who have been [watching] us from the beginning to continue watching us again in the fall."

As for what fans can expect to see in the new episodes, fellow judge Derek Hough teased that there will be "a few adjustments" that he believes will make the show "a little more suspenseful." We wonder what he means ...

Though it was believed that Tyra Banks and Alfonso Ribiero would resume their co-hosting duties, this actually won't be the case for Dancing With the Stars ' 2023 season. On March 17, Deadline confirmed that Tyra will no longer host the competition show. What's more, Variety exclusively reported that Alfonso will return as a co-host and he'll be accompanied by former pro dancer and judge Julianne Hough .

“It is such an honor to be rejoining Dancing with the Stars as co-host. The show holds such a special place in my heart from the many years and different roles I have had the privilege of being a part of,” she says in an exclusive statement to Variety .

She continued: “The incredible team that brings the ballroom to life every night has been my family for the past 17 years. I am so excited to reunite with Alfonso, Carrie Ann, Bruno, Derek, the unbelievably talented pros, and the amazing cast on the dance floor."

"Julianne was definitely our first choice," executive producer Conrad Green told Entertainment Weekly on September 13. "Alfonso coming on last season really proved that there's an understanding that comes with having been on the show and being part of the family of the show that connects well with the audience and makes you really understand what the celebrities and dancers are going through."

He added: "It's going to be really interesting to have someone asking questions in the Sky Box who has been on both sides of the fence as a dancer and has seen everything. She's been on the opposite side of those questions. She understands what it's like to teach. There's so much insight that she brings."

As for Tyra's departure, TMZ was the first to break the news after one of their reporters caught up with the former supermodel. When asked how she planned to balance her ice cream business, SMIZE & Dream , with her hosting job on Dancing With the Stars , Tyra revealed that she had big plans for it but it would involve her stepping back.

"I feel it's time for me to really focus on my business and my entrepreneurship and also producing more TV but behind the scenes," she told TMZ . "I think it's time to graduate from the dance floor to the stock market floor."

Tyra added: "My heart, my soul is into my business. It's also into producing new TV, which we're working on, so we got a new business show coming soon. But I really want to focus on my business and you can't do that hosting a show."

Another season ushers in an entirely new star-studded lineup of contestants. On September 13, Good Morning America announced the cast and their pro pairings:

  • Supermodel Tyson Beckford with partner Jenna Johnson
  • Marvel star Xochitl Gomez with partner Val Chmerkovskiy
  • How I Met Your Mother alum Alyson Hannigan with partner Sasha Farber
  • Reality TV star Harry Jowsey with partner Rylee Arnold
  • The Bachelorette star Charity Lawson with partner Artem Chigvintsev
  • Vanderpump Rules ' Ariana Madix with partner Pasha Pashkov
  • Grammy-winning singer Jason Mraz with partner Daniella Karagach
  • NFL star Adrian Peterson with partner Britt Stewart
  • Social media star Lele Pons with partner Brandon Armstrong
  • Oscar-winning actress Mira Sorvino with partner Gleb Savchenko
  • Actress Jamie Lynn Spears with partner Alan Bersten
  • Real estate mogul and TV star Mauricio Umansky with partner Emma Slater
  • Comedian and actor Matt Walsh with partner Koko Iwasaki
  • The Brady Bunch star Barry Williams with partner Peta Murgatroyd

It all rides on the heels of life-changing years for some of the cast mates. On July 7, Derek appeared on Good Morning America to announce Vanderpump Rules star Ariana Madix as the first cast member for Dancing With the Stars season 32.

“This season on Dancing With the Stars , we are going absolutely mad, mad for Madix ... Say goodbye to the drama, and say hello to the dance floor." Derek said in a clip , filmed from her sandwich shop called Something About Her .

The news comes after reports that Ariana was eyeing the competition show following a tumultuous season 10 of Vanderpump Rules , in which the reality star was involved in " Scandoval ." As for her skills in the ballroom, viewers may be excited to hear that she has won two dance national competitions before, according to her website . So, she's sure to make season 32 a memorable one.

Among the fixtures who announced their departure was dance pro C heryl Burke , whose run spans 26 seasons. Ahead of the Dancing With the Stars season 31 finale on November 21, she wrote on Instagram that it "has been one of the absolute hardest decisions of my life, and I am also confident that it is the right one."

'dancing with the stars' 2023

Other pros didn't have much say in the matter: Shana Burgess , who won season 27, revealed on her podcast that she wasn't asked back for the upcoming season. "It was such a shock, because I wasn’t expecting it, it was tough," she said. "It’s not the first time. My last five years on the show have been rocky — not because of the show."

Despite making a triumphant return, reigning Mirrorball champion Mark Ballas also revealed that he was retiring. On March 13, while performing in the Dancing with the Stars Live 2023 tour, he made the career announcement alongside his winning partner Charli.

“I’ve done 20 seasons now,” he said onstage to a crowd, per Deadline . “I started this journey when I was 21, 22 and honestly being able to dance and perform for you fans — you guys are the best fans ... I just want to finish by saying, this will be the last time you see me dance in this capacity. I’m coming to a close tonight. This is going to be my last dance.”

For the first time in Dancing With the Stars history, Len Goodman will not be part of the judge's panel. After the head judge announced that he was retiring at the end of season 31 in November, he died from bone cancer at the age of 78 on April 22. His agent revealed his death to BBC , sharing that he was "surrounded by his family" when he died in hospice in Kent, England.

Before his departure though, Len voiced how appreciative he was of his time on the air.

"I've been with the show since it started in 2005, and it’s been a huge pleasure to be a huge part of such a wonderful show. But I've decided I'd like to spend more time with my grandchildren and family back in Britain," he said on the Disney+ show. "I cannot thank you enough, the Dancing With the Stars family. It has been such a wonderful experience for me."

On March 20, Variety also confirmed that Carrie Ann Inaba , Bruno Turniolo and Derek Hough will return as judges for the 2023 season. According to the outlet, there will not a fourth person replacing Len's place, so we'll be back to the traditional panel size.

What's more, Derek opened up to TVInsider about his hope to have familiar famous faces join the trio every now and then. "I really envision that the three of us [Carrie Ann, Bruno, and myself] will have some guest judges, which will be nice," he told the outlet . "Sometimes having that outside perspective can be fun. It’ll make it feel different. We’ll see what happens."

Dance pro Cheryl Burke, who has appeared for 26 seasons, will not come back to the show. Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough are slated to return as judges, following the death of retired judge Len Goodman in April 2023.

Ready to find out who made the cut for the latest season? Read on!

Jamie Lynn Spears — the younger sister of Britney Spears and an actress best known for starrng in shows like Zoey 101 and Sweet Magnolias — was announced as an official contestant on Dancing With the Stars Season 32 on Good Morning America on September 12, 2023. She was paired with professional dancer Alan Bersten.

“I don’t know if one can ever be 100% ready to take on something this big; I didn’t realize what a commitment it is, but it definitely is. I’m ready to challenge myself,” Spears told Good Morning America  at the time of her announcement.

Spears also revealed on Good Morning America that she plannd to donate her weekly earnings from Dancing with the Stars to the SAG-AFTRA and AGA amid their ongoing strikes. “While everybody else in my community is on strike, I have this unique opportunity where I was offered a chance to work when my community cannot work. So I figured I’ll do this and I will donate my weekly salary… to just give back to them at a time where they can’t give back to themselves,” she said.

“Jamie Lynn is so hard-working and so dedicated and it’s actually so much fun. We get along so well,” Bersten said of Spears. Spears added, “He’s been wonderful. My family got to meet him and he’s been great. I wouldn’t want to do it with anyone else.”

Spears — who is a mother to two daughters Maddie, 15, and Ivey Joan, 5 — also told Good Morning America about how her kids reacted to her joining Dancing With the Stars. “My 15 year old actually was very motivated for me to do this, which was actually very surprising,” she said. “My 15-year-old was like, ‘You’re going to dance on TV? What are you doing mom?’ But she was like, ‘Mom, you have to do it.’ She’s an athlete so I think she wants to see me kind of push myself.”

She continued, “Typically I’d be working on different ventures but I think it’s just important that I have this opportunity. And if I get up there and even if I embarrass myself, I’m doing it for a good reason and hopefully giving back to the community that’s literally given back to me since I was a little girl.”

Charity Lawson

The Bachelorette  star Charity Lawson will also be joining the Season 32 cast of Dancing With the Stars ! ABC revealed the exciting news during Monday’s (Aug. 21) episode of The Bachelorette: After the Final Rose .

Bachelor Nation has made a few appearances in the dancing competition over the years. Lawson follows Gabby Windey, who came in second place last season. Former Bachelorette stars Kaitlyn Bristowe and Hannah Brown also won their respective  DWTS  seasons.

Ariana Madix

dancing with the stars cast tour 2023

Professional partner: Pasha Pashkov

The first confirmed Dancing With the Stars contestant was Vanderpump Rules star Ariana Madix! The 38-year-old reality TV personality is joining the cast amid her very public split from her boyfriend of nine years, Tom Sandoval, who had an affair (dubbed “Scandoval”) with their co-star Raquel Leviss. Derek Hough announced the news on Good Morning America on July 7, 2023. “This season on  Dancing with the Star s, we are going absolutely mad — mad for Madix!” Hough said. “Say goodbye to the drama and hello to the dance floor!”

Paige Six first reported in April 2023 that the Bravo star was in talks to join the cast of  Dancing With the Stars,  although nothing was confirmed. At the time, sources said that Madix had” already received all of the approvals and sign-offs from NBC Universal,” which is the parent company of Bravo.

‘That’s right, I’m Vanderpump Rules’ Ariana Madix, and I will be joining the cast of Dancing with the Stars this season,” she said before doing a little dance with Hough, who is returning as a judge. Since leaving Sandovol, Vanderpump  star has appeared in ads for companies like Bloomingdale’s, Duracell, Bic razors and Lays. Her and her castmember Katie Maloney also own a sandwhich shop together, and they revealed that they’ve sold more than $200,000 in sandwich shop merchandise.

Mauricio Umansky

Mauricio Umansky

Professional partner: Emma Slater

Mauricio Umansky, husband of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills ‘ Kyle Richards and star of Netflix’s Selling Beverly Hills , sparked rumors he was joining Dancing With the Stars Season 32 on September 6, 2023, when the cast was photographed arriving at the show’s studio in Los Angeles, California, with masks on. Dancing With the Stars fans identified one of the contestants as Mauricio based on a set of bracelets a contestant was wearing. “The streets are saying Mauricio Umansky is doing Dancing with the Stars . Check out the bracelets!” a user wrote on Instagram .

Now we know that those rumors were true!

Barry Williams

Barry Williams

Professional partner: Peta Murgatroyd

Barry Williams, an actor best known for starring as Greg Brady on The Brady Bunch , sparked rumors he was joining Dancing With the Stars Season 32 on September 6, 2023, when a contestant who looked like him was photographed arriving at the show’s studio in Los Angeles, California. Though the contestant was wearing a mask, fans believed that the star was Williams based on his hair and visible features. “Second pic is apparently Barry Williams who played Greg Brady from the Brady Bunch,” wrote a Reddit user.

And yes, it was confirmed that Williams will be putting on his dancing shoes and hitting the floor to compete!

Mira Sorvino

dancing with the stars cast tour 2023

Professional partner: Gleb Savchenko

Oscar-winner Mira Sorvino will be in the Season 32 cast when it premieres this fall. Sorvino is best known for her Oscar-winning role as Linda Ash in the 1995 comedy, Mighty Aphrodite . She was also nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in 1996’s  Norma Jean & Marilyn .

The actress hasn’t given any indication on her social media accounts that she’ll be joining next season. Her last post was on Wednesday, August 28, 2023, when she posted photos with her family, including husband Christopher Backus and their four children, enjoying a day at Disneyland.

Alyson Hannigan

THE KELLY CLARKSON SHOW -- Episode 4100 -- Pictured: Alyson Hannigan -- (Photo by: Weiss Eubanks/NBCUniversal/NBCU Photo Bank)

Professional partner: Sasha Farber

Although she’s gone on to many other successful projects, for many of us, Hannigan will always be known as Buffy The Vampire Slayer ’s BFF, Willow Rosenberg. Others will site her role as Lily Aldrin on the long-running sitcom How I Met Your Mother as their favorite of her past parts. Heck, your kids probably know her as the voice of Claire Clancy in the Disney Junior animated series Fancy Nancy . Here’s a fun fact you probably didn’t know: The house she shares with hubby Alexis Denisof (who played the haughtily named Wesley Wyndam-Pryce on Buffy ) was used as one of the sets for the wildly popular NBC series This Is Us !

Tyson Beckford

Professional partner: Jenna Johnson

We probably don’t have to tell you who Beckford is, but given that that’s the whole reason we’re here, we’ll go ahead anyway. Beckford is a stunningly handsome model and occasional actor who is best known as being the face (and abs) of Ralph Lauren’s Polo line. Should one of the hosts find themselves needing a day off, Beckford could easily step in, given that he filled that role on the Bravo series Make Me a Supermodel . He as also a judge on the United Kingdom’s version of the reality show America’s Next Top Model .

Harry Jowsey

HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA - AUGUST 10: Harry Jowsey attends Variety Power of Young Hollywood at NeueHouse Los Angeles on August 10, 2023 in Hollywood, California. (Photo by Rodin Eckenroth/FilmMagic)

Professional partner: Rylee Arnold

If you don’t recognize the name, you’re probably not a fan of the Netflix reality series Too Hot To Handle . But his Instagram followers — over 4 million of them and counting — will definitely be able to pick his handsome face out of a crowd.

During the first season of the series — in which contestants live in paradise but are forbidden from any type of sexual activity, including kissing — Jowsey and nine others wound up splitting the $75,000 grand prize. Translation: They wound up with $7,500 each. And while that may not seem like much, the far greater prize was the fame which their antics brought about.

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - APRIL 20: Lele Pons attends the 2023 Latin American Music Awards at MGM Grand Garden Arena on April 20, 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Gabe Ginsberg/FilmMagic)

Professional partner: Brandon Armstrong

Now, if we had told you that Eleonora Pons Maronese was joining the show, we suspect you’d collectively ask, “Who?” And while many probably don’t recognize the name Lele Pons either, she’s an undeniable force in the social media world. The Venezuelan-born beauty rose to fame on Vines back when Vines was still a thing. (For those unaware, it was basically the precursor to TikTok.) With over 18 million subscribers on YouTube, the 27-year-old sensation hosts the podcast Best Kept Secrets and stars in a YouTube series called The Secret Life of Lele Pons .

As viewers know, more than a few toes get stepped on during rehearsals for Dancing With the Stars . Well, should anybody need a creative curse word to go along with the accompanying pain, Walsh would likely to be able to provide one. Why? Because he’s perhaps best known for his years on Veep , which is widely regarded to have been perhaps the most creative series ever when it came to the legendarily dirty insults the characters dropped on one another! His Mike McClintock was often on the receiving end of those insults, although he occasionally got in a good one himself, especially where office punching bag Jonas was concerned.

Many might also recognize the comedian/actor from his stint as a correspondent on The Daily Show or his appearances in movies such as Bad Santa , The Hangover and The Do-Over .

We’ll find out just how light-on-his feet the footballer is as he takes to the dance floor. Peterson is widely regarded to be one of the greatest running backs in the history of football, managing to break records even while dealing with various injuries sustained during play. Operating as a free agent, Peterson has played for a variety of teams over the years.

There is, however, a dark side to Peterson’s story, given that in 2014 he was indicted by a grand jury in Texas on charges of reckless/negligent injury to a child. As a result, he was suspended from the game for the rest of that season. But by 2017, he was operating as a free agent and wound up playing for multiple teams including the Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks.

She may only be 17 years old, but it wouldn’t be wise to discount this young actress. After all, it was Jennifer Lawrence’s performance in The Hunger Games which inspired her to pursue a career in acting! She first hit the stage at the tender age of five (in a school production of The Little Mermaid ), and has since gone on to starring roles on shows such as Raven’s House and The Baby-Sitters Club . But it was her role as America Chavez in the Marvel flick Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness which truly propelled her fame to the next level.

Here’s hoping that at some point during the season, singer/songwriter/guitarist Mraz has an opportunity to put his pipes to good use. While best known for his tuneful melodies, don’t count out his ability to bust a move: This guy was a member of the cheerleading squad back in high school!

Having recently signed a new three-record deal, the troubadour released the tune “I Feel Like Dancing” and his latest album, Mystical Magical Rhythmical Radical Ride in June of this year. As it happened, that was also his 46th birthday!

Dancing with the Stars 2023 release date, cast, and everything we know

By michael weyer | sep 12, 2023.

DANCING WITH THE STARS - Key Art. (ABC)

Updated : Sept. 21, 2023 – Dancing with the Stars season 32 is almost here! Fans of the celebrity dance competition have been anticipating the new season since Vanderpump Rules ‘ Ariana Madix was announced on Good Morning America as the first contestant in the upcoming season.

The show has undergone more than a few changes this past year, from the departure of a host to a shift from ABC to streaming and back. So here’s what we know so far about the new season!

Will Dancing with the Stars be on Disney+?

Fans of the dance competition weren’t happy about Disney’s decision to move the series from ABC to Disney+ which required viewers to have a subscription to the streamer to watch the beloved program. While it streamed live and retained at home voting during season 31, the change wasn’t well received. As such the decision to move the show back to ABC will likely be favorable.

This, however, doesn’t mean Dancing with the Stars won’t stream on Disney+. Deadline reports that season 32 will simulcast on ABC and Disney+ while next day viewing will be available on Hulu.

Dancing with the Stars release date

Instead of airing on Mondays, as previously announced, ABC has shifted the series to Tuesdays. Season 32 premieres Sept. 26, 2023 at 8 p.m. ET. It’ll likely running from September to Thanksgiving.

Currently, ABC’s entire scripted line-up is in limbo due to the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike . The dance competition’s return to the network establishes that ABC has a proven hit on the schedule during this difficult time in the industry.

Will Dancing with the Stars be affected by the strikes?

Prior to the start of Dancing with the Stars season 32 promo rollout, it didn’t look like the series would be impacted by the strikes outside of what industries the celebrities selected to be in the cast work in. This is because game shows, reality series, and variety shows operate under the Network Code which is a different contract from the ones the WGA and SAG-AFTRA are negotiating with the AMPTP.

However, the show does employ one WGA writer has been in the news as of late because union members have been picketing rehearsals and calling for select cast members like Matt Walsh, Mira Sorvino, and Alyson Hannigan to pull out of the competition. The mounting pressure has ABC gearing up for the potential of delaying the season premiere if an agreement isn’t reached between the WGA and the AMPTP on Thursday, Sept. 21. We’ll keep you posted.

Who is Ariana Madix on Dancing with the Stars?

Ariana Madix is a Vanderpump Rules star who has been in the news due to a cheating scandal involving her long-time boyfriend, Tom Sandoval, who cheated on her with her Vanderpump co-star Raquel Leviss. The scandal ( nicknamed “Scandoval” on social media ) propelled Vanderpump to record high ratings and should lead to more attention for Madix on this show.

Born in Florida, Madix won two national dance championships which proves she has the goods for the show. An expert rider, she also earned two degrees from Flagler College, worked as a variety of princesses in Disney World, and was a bartender before joining Vanderpump Rules in 2013. Between her various endorsement deals and past entertainment experience, Madix should have the flair to pull this off.

Who is Rylee Arnold on Dancing with the Stars?

Arnold is the newest Pro partner. She’s the youngest sister of Pro partner and Mirrorball Champion Lindsay Arnold (who isn’t in season 32). The new cast member is 18 years old and does have Dancing with the Stars experience as she competed in the Junior version of the series back in 2018. Arnold was 13 at the time and was partnered with black-ish star Miles Brown. Her sister coached them during the competition. They were the runners-up.

Why did Tyra Banks leave Dancing with the Stars?

It was a bit controversial when supermodel Tyra Banks became the show’s new host in 2020. She was criticized as lacking the flair needed for the role, and ratings declined a bit. Banks announced she was leaving the show in May of 2023 .

She stated that she simply wanted to focus on her other businesses, from fashion to other TV hosting gigs. It appears her departure was a mutual decision by Banks and the producers and there’s a chance she might make a return but not in a full-time hosting gig.

Former DWTS pro dancer and judge Julianne Hough has been tapped as her replacement and will co-host with Alfonso Riberio.

Dancing with the Stars 2023 judges

It’s a sad time for Dancing with the Stars fans as veteran judge Len Goodman passed away from cancer in April. The rest of the panel, Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli, will return for the new season, but there’s been no word on who will be Goodman’s replacement.

Matt Walsh “pauses” his involvement with Dancing with the Stars 2023

Walsh, who is a member of SAG-AFTRA and the WGA, has chosen to “pause” his work on Dancing with the Stars amid pressure from fellow union members who are calling for the new season to be delayed. The show employs one WGA writer and is considered to be a struck production by the union. Read Walsh’s statement, per TVLine , below:

"I am taking a pause from Dancing with the Stars until an agreement is made with the WGA. I was excited to join the show and did so under the impression that it was not a WGA show and fell under a different agreement. This morning when I was informed by my union, the WGA, that it is considered struck work I walked out of my rehearsal. I have been and will always stand with my union members of the WGA, SAG and DGA. Beyond our union artists, I am sensitive to the many people impacted by the strike and I hope for a speedy and fair resolution, and to one day work again with all the wonderful people I met at DWTS who tolerated my dancing."

Everything we know about 'Dancing With the Stars' season 32

  • "Dancing With the Stars" season 32 will premiere September 26.
  • Julianne Hough has replaced Tyra Banks as one of the hosts.
  • Three cast members were confirmed ahead of the full cast announcement on "GMA" on September 13.

Insider Today

The "Dancing With the Stars" premiere is just around the corner, and we already know the new season is going to look a lot different from the last.

The beloved competition show is making some exciting changes and simultaneously returning to its roots. As always, a new group of celebrities will put on ballroom dancing shoes and attempt to capture our hearts with their newfound moves.

Here's everything we know so far about "Dancing With the Stars" season 32.

When will 'Dancing With the Stars' season 32 premiere?

ABC confirmed in July that "Dancing With the Stars" would return for its new season in the fall. The full cast was announced on "Good Morning America" on September 13, and according to Deadline , the new season will premiere on Tuesday, September 26.

According to Deadline, "DWTS" was originally expected to air on Monday but was moved amid the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

Where can you watch 'Dancing with the Stars' season 32?

"Dancing With the Stars" season 32 will return to ABC after season 31 was exclusively available on Disney+. The show will also be available to watch live on Disney+ and will stream the next day on Hulu.

Alisa Bowen, the president of Disney+, told Deadline in May that adding the competition show to the streamer was a chance to introduce it to a "new generation of fans," but now all generations can watch it on the platform of their choice.

Who will host 'Dancing With the Stars' season 32?

In March 2023, Tyra Banks revealed to TMZ that she was stepping away from "Dancing With the Stars" after three seasons as a host.

"I feel it's really time for me to focus on my business and my entrepreneurship. And also, producing more TV, but behind the scenes," she said of her exit. "I think it's time to graduate from the dance floor to the stock market floor."

Banks added that she wanted to be creating content, not "just hosting" shows.

Three days after Banks' announcement, Variety and Deadline reported that former "DWTS" pro dancer and guest judge Julianne Hough would be joining "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" star Alfonso Ribeiro as cohost of the show.

Related stories

Ribeiro joined "DWTS" in season 31 as Banks' cohost, interviewing couples in the Sky Box after their performances. For season 32, he'll take Banks' place as emcee and Hough will take over the Sky Box.

Who are the 'Dancing With the Stars' season 32 judges?

Former "Dancing With the Stars" head judge Len Goodman died in April 2023. Before his death, he announced that he was retiring from the show during season 31. In March, Variety confirmed that Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and Derek Hough would return to the judging table for season 32.

Who are the celebrities competing on 'Dancing With the Stars' season 32?

In July, " Vanderpump Rules " star Ariana Madix announced via an Instagram video with Derek Hough that she'd be taking to the dance floor. Madix was propelled to the spotlight this year after winding up in the middle of a very public cheating scandal when her ex-partner and costar Tom Sandoval had an affair with their friend, Rachel "Raquel" Leviss.

Then in August, on the "After The Final Rose" finale special wrapping up her quest for love, "Bachelorette" lead Charity Lawson announced that she would also be joining the cast of "DWTS" season 32 this fall. Lawson joins a long line of "Bachelorette" leads who have gone on to compete on "DWTS" like Gabby Windey, Kaitlyn Bristowe, Hannah Brown, and Trista Sutter.

On September 12, actor and country singer Jamie Lynn Spears announced she was joining the cast via Instagram . She was also the first celebrity to reveal her dance partner, Alan Bersten. (Bersten previously won season 28 of "Dancing With the Stars" with his celebrity partner, former "Bachelorette" star Hannah Brown.)

While making the announcement on "Good Morning America," Spears said she'd be donating her weekly salary to SAG-AFTRA and WGA.

The full "Dancing With the Stars" season 32 cast list was revealed September 13 on "Good Morning America."

Which pro dancers will be on 'Dancing With the Stars' season 32?

Along with Bersten, new dad Val Chmerkovskiy recently told Us Weekly that he and his wife Jenna Johnson would both be returning to the ballroom for season 32. Johnson sat out season 31 because she was pregnant with their son, Rome.

We also know a few pros who won't be returning for the new season.

Fan-favorite Mark Ballas, who won season 31 with Charli D'Amelio, announced his retirement from "DWTS" at a March 2023 live show for the tour, per People .

"So, I just wanna finish by saying this will be the last time you see me dance in this capacity. I'm coming to a close tonight. This is gonna be my last dance," he said at the show, according to People.

In a video shared to TikTok on Sunday, Witney Carson McAllister announced that she wouldn't be returning to the ballroom for season 32.

@witneycarsonofficial Love you guys 💔 #dwts #witneycarson #dancingwiththestars ♬ original sound - Witney Carson

According to her Instagram , McAllister moved with her husband and two young sons to Florida in March. She said she made the decision because she wanted some stability for her family and she also didn't think she was physically or mentally ready for the demanding schedule of the show. The dancer welcomed her son Jet in May.

"I definitely think this is just a break, I hope it's not goodbye," she said toward the end of the video. McAllister won her only mirrorball trophy when she competed with Ribeiro on season 19 in 2014.

On September 12, Sharna Burgess confirmed on the premiere episode of "Old·ish" — the new iHeartRadio podcast she cohosts with her partner Brian Austin Green and Randy Spelling — that she wasn't asked to return to "Dancing With the Stars" this season. Burgess, who last appeared on season 30 when she was paired with Green, said the last five seasons of "DWTS" were rocky for her and that she was sad she wouldn't have the show to return to after having her baby .

The full "Dancing With the Stars" season 32 pros list was revealed September 13 on "Good Morning America" when the celebrity cast was announced.

Travis Kelce Dances to Taylor Swift's 'Shake It Off' During Live Taping of New Heights Podcast

The Super Bowl Champion shared that the 2014 hit song is one of his "favorites”

Travis Kelce can't stop moving!

In a TikTok video published on Thursday, April 11, the Super Bowl champion, 34, is seen dancing on stage to one of his girlfriend Taylor Swift 's hit songs.

Kelce showed off his dance moves at the recent live taping of the podcast he hosts with his brother  Jason Kelce , 36, New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce , at the University of Cincinnati's Fifth Third Arena. Both NFL stars played college football at the university.

As the Chiefs tight end stands beside his older brother on stage, he’s seen nonchalantly dancing, by shaking his hips and arms, to what appears to be a marching band playing the 2014 hit  "Shake It Off” for the crowd.

But quickly, the song stops — as does Travis — and one fan is heard shouting to the Kelces that the song playing is “Shake It Off.”

Travis then shouts the song title back at the crowd, confirming she’s correct, and then laughs directly into the microphone. As the TikTok video concludes, Travis adds, “That’s one of my favorites.”

Ahead of the live taping, Travis shared with Jason and Lil Dicky  on the April 10 episode of New Heights that he’s still not sure how he ended up dating the pop superstar.

The comedian, 36, then told Travis that his relationship with the Grammy winner, 34, is “the best thing ever.”

“I appreciate it, man,” Travis responded. “I don’t know how I did it because she wasn’t into sports, so I don’t know how the f--- I did it.”

Lil Dicky, 36, interjected, “Well you did because you called her out on…"

"No, I know exactly how I did it," Travis continued with a laugh.

The pair first sparked dating rumors in September 2023 after the musician attended a handful of Kelce's games .

While appearing on The Pat McAfee Show podcast that same month, the NFL star revealed that he invited the Red singer to attend one of his games and " threw the ball in her court " after seeing her perform at Arrowhead Stadium during her Eras Tour in July 2023.

The next month, the couple confirmed their romance when they stepped out holding hands at a Saturday Night Live afterparty in New York City.

2024 women's NCAA Tournament Final Four dates, game times, TV, location, teams and more

The stars will be out on Friday night in the women's Final Four.

Iowa's Caitlin Clark , South Carolina's Kamilla Cardoso, UConn's Paige Bueckers and NC State's Aziaha James will all take the court in Cleveland with a trip to the national championship game on the line, and each has their own calling card as they enter the championship rounds.

Clark's story is well-documented at this point , but endlessly impressive nonetheless: She put together a Her-culean effort in Iowa's win over LSU in the Elite Eight, with a 41-point game (and a bit of revenge). Cardoso has been a force in the paint for the Gamecocks, and she'll look to take her game to the next level at the conclusion of the women's tournament.

J ames has exploded in the tournament , capping off brilliant performance after brilliant performance with a 7-for-9 night from 3-point land in the Wolfpack's win over Texas in the Elite Eight. Last, and certainly not least, Bueckers wants to cap off this UConn run with that elusive championship – but she plans to run it back with the Huskies next season should things go south between now and then.

Women's Final Four bracket

Here's how the women's Final Four bracket shapes up entering the final weekend of the tourney:

  • (1) South Carolina vs. (3) North Carolina State
  • (1) Iowa vs. (3) UConn

Who is in the women's Final Four?

In one matchup, the South Carolina Gamecocks take on the North Carolina State Wolfpack in a battle of Carolina supremacy. South Carolina, led by 6-foot-7 senior Kamilla Cardoso, looks to keep its undefeated season rolling against the Wolfpack. Aziaha James has been on a tear in the tournament, last exploding for seven 3-pointers in NC State's win over the Longhorns.

In the other showdown, Caitlin Clark looks to keep her historic 2023-24 season alive when she and the Hawkeyes face off against Paige Bueckers and UConn in the semifinal. Clark put up a masterful performance in their regional final vs. LSU, scoring 41 points in 40 minutes and exacting revenge against the Tigers.
