The El Tour Series is a collection of long-distance cycling events that take place primarily in the southwestern United States, with the flagship event being El Tour de Tucson in Arizona. These events are organized by Perimeter Bicycling Association of America, Inc. The El Tour Series has gained significant recognition and popularity within the cycling community due to its unique and challenging courses, commitment to promoting cycling, and its philanthropic efforts.

The most well-known event in the series, El Tour de Tucson , typically occurs in November and attracts thousands of cyclists from various skill levels and backgrounds. Riders have the option to participate in different distance categories, ranging from a more manageable 25 miles to an ultra-challenging 100-mile route, known as the “century ride.” The centerpiece of the event is the scenic route that winds through the beautiful desert landscapes of southern Arizona, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and the opportunity to experience the region’s diverse terrain. The team at Strambecco considers it to be one of the Best Road Cycling Event in the Southwest and it was recently rated by USA TODAY as the top road cycling event in the country.

In addition to El Tour de Tucson, the series also includes other rides like El Tour de Mesa  hosted by Holualoa Companies. The 100-kilometer ride, celebrated as the most scenic Metric Century in the world, promises cyclists an unforgettable experience against the backdrop of the region’s iconic landmarks. Recognizing the extraordinary nature of El Tour de Mesa, it proudly secures a coveted spot on Strambecco’s list of best cycling events in Arizona and the Southwest .

El Tour: ‘A Start of a Renewed Passion’ with New Route and Look

All Bobby Verenna had to say about El Tour de Tucson’s unveiling of its new look and feel for 2020 was this to be convinced: “Great new route this year! This is a world class event.”

He had us at the first three words … and the last three.

We’d like to think that too here at Perimeter Bicycling, where riders started to register Monday  afternoon for the Banner – University Medicine 38 th El Tour de Tucson set for Nov. 21, 2020.

“I love the new route. It takes us through beautiful parts of Tucson – Colossal Cave and Pistol Hill (areas) and to some of the surrounding communities of Green Valley and Sahuarita,” said Verenna, a veteran of 15 El Tours through the years. “Then we get to go through some of the historic and important parts of Tucson and all that it has to offer.”

Much planning and effort went into the new route, one that will have a 100-mile event as well as a 57-miler.

The 100-mile ride and parts of the 57-mile ride will go east from downtown and head toward Tucson landmarks such as the boneyard of the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, mountainous and saguaro-lined areas of Old Spanish Trail and Colossal Cave during El Tour’s first ride into southern Pima County in 38 years.  Of course, there will be a 28-mile ride and a Fun Ride event too.

“The new course is not only more scenic, but safer with a great reduction in the number of cyclist/car interactions,” said Gord Fraser, former participant in Tour de France, professional cycling coach as well as current head coach of Team El Grupo.

Fraser, along with El Tour officials, helped create some of the route. It’s been a hit by some of have ridden parts of it.

“It has a nice mix of things for every rider; there’s enough climbing that it makes it a challenging course but it’s not super selective where a regular rider won’t find in intimidating,” Verenna said.

Fraser said he’s looking forward to the ride as he helps Tucson youth get enthused with cycling with El Grupo.

“All of us at El Grupo are excited for the new El Tour cycling routes,” he said. “We sent 50 kids to ride last year and intend to be a big part in 2020. I truly believe this will start a renewed passion into an event that is dear both locally and revered worldwide as THE bucket list road cycling event in Arizona.”

Verenna agreed.

“I love what’s going on at El Tour,” he said. “It needed a facelift and an update. Char and the staff there have done a great job. I’m excited for what the ride is and what it does for Tucson and the community.”

JUNIOR H, one of the most successful artists in the urban Mexican music genre, announces today his $AD BOYZ MANIA – US TOUR 2024 , his return to the road after a wildly successful 2023 run that sold out more than 50% of his tour across North America.

Produced by LIVE NATION and RANCHO HUMILDE, the tour will visit twenty cities across the country, starting on Saturday, July 13th, at the Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, California, and concluding on Tuesday, October 26th, at the UTEP Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas. Notably, the artist from Guanajuato, Mexico, will perform for the first time Los Angeles’ BMO Stadium to a crowd of over 20K fans on Friday, October 11th. The trek will visit other iconic venues nationwide, such as the Toyota Center in Houston, the Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas and the Prudential Center in Newark, to name a few.

Fans can expect JUNIOR H to perform hits from his latest album titled $AD BOYZ 4 LIFE II , which already has 1.4 BILLION streams on platforms just five months after its release.

In the past year, JUNIOR H’s career has seen an impressive surge. On Spotify alone, he holds 26 million monthly listeners and over 3.3 BILLION streams of his top 10 most listened-to songs. These figures have earned him multiple gold and platinum certifications, highlighting the dedicated work of the artist  who is steadily establishing himself as one of the most influential artists of Latin music.

On April 25th, JUNIOR H & Rels B released the single titled “Un Desperdicio”. In her first Eras Tour concert since the release of “The Tortured Poets Department,” Taylor Swift shook up her setlist. At Thursday night’s show at the La Défense Arena in Paris, fans were treated to the inclusion of new songs from the record-breaking album released in April. According to fan videos and news outlets, Swift performed “But Daddy I Love Him,” “So High School,” “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me,” “Down Bad,” “Fortnight,” “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” and “I Can Do It with a Broken Heart” from the new release. She dressed in black and white to match the album’s visuals.

This weekend starts with Mexican Mother's Day on Friday, May 10, and then Mother's Day in the United States on Sunday, May 12.

So, whatever plans you make this weekend, you might want to make sure you include mom. For starters, there are the Chippendale dancers bringing their world tour to Speaking Rock Entertainment Center on Friday, May 10, and Saturday, May 11.

There are also more family-oriented events like plays, art exhibit openings and high tea in fancy hotels.

Later in the month, there are some concerts, including Tanya Tucker, Mon Laferte, Flans and Pandora. There are sure to be a lot of moms who would love to relive their youth at a Flans concert, so it might be good to get her some tickets to that show.

Chippendales to celebrate moms in El Paso

Speaking Rock Entertainment is bringing the Chippendales World Tour with a show at 6 p.m. Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11 at 122 S. Old Pueblo Road. The world-famous male revue show has entertained audiences for over 40 years. Wristbands will be on sale the day of the event for $20 each, cash only. Ladies only. 

Los Actores present drama for Mother's Day weekend

Los Actores will close its 2023-24 season with the drama Una Mujer Para Cada Acto this weekend at Cathedral High School. QUITO, Ecuador – Haciendo su debut en PGA TOUR Americas gracias a una invitación del patrocinador, esta semana el colombiano Ricardo Celia logró un resultado enorme en el Kia Open 2024. Igualar en el tercer lugar, con total de 13-bajo par, le significó ganar 145 puntos que lo impulsaron hasta el puesto 30 del ranking de la Fortinet Cup. En esa posición, con solo un torneo por jugar en el Swing Latino, tiene asegurado su lugar entre los top 60 que tendrán estatus completo para los torneos del Swing Norteamericano que se jugará entre junio y septiembre.

“Yo he estado en el limbo este último año y medio y eso ha sido bastante complicado. Entonces saber que tengo un Tour y un calendario para jugar el resto del año me da una tranquilidad enorme”, agregó con satisfacción el jugador de 32 años que logró dos victorias en su carrera en el PGA TOUR Latinoamérica, en donde ganó el All You Need is Ecuador Open en 2015 y el VISA Argentina Open en 2019.

Aprovechando el buen momento, el jugador originario de Barranquilla no puede esperar a jugar el próximo torneo de la gira: el Inter Rapidísimo Golf Championship que se realizará del 16 al 19 de mayo en El Rincón de Cajicá en las afueras de Bogotá, Colombia. Ese torneo marcará el final del Swing Latino de esta temporada inaugural del Tour.

“Muy contento de jugar en Colombia, en una cancha que me gusta muchísimo. Afortunadamente ya me había dado la invitación y estoy muy agradecido por eso. Seguramente va a ser una semana espectacular con mis amigos, con mi esposa y mucha gente que me irá a ver”, agregó sobre lo que le espera en esa siguiente parada del Tour.

¡Ha vuelto! Taylor Swift sorprendió a sus fans con un nuevo bodysuit de Lover y más en la etapa europea de su Eras Tour .

Swift, de 34 años, inició su serie de conciertos en París con un nuevo bodysuit — y lista de canciones — el jueves 9 de mayo. Su bodysuit personalizado de Versace estaba adornado con cristales naranjas brillantes y lentejuelas rosas fuertes. Al igual que las otras versiones de su bodysuit, tenía un escote redondo y tirantes finos.
