Best Experience Ever

"It was a birthday gift to remember. Awesome choices, plenty of time to explore and enjoy the other options available. Our guide was very knowledgeable and I have made changes in what we look for in beers as well as how we drink it - always in a glass. Fun and cool"

Excellent Time Had By All

"The tour was great from beginning to end. Mark was an awesome guide. Perfect man for our group. We really enjoyed his knowledge of beer and history. All the brewery stops were good, but Bantam Cider was my favorite. Will definitely be back!"

History Meets Beer

"This tour was a great way to experience the city of Boston and see what various types of beer it has to offer. The tour guide was very informative and made the overall experience fun and enjoyable. Plus, who doesn't like to sample 15-18 beers in under 6 hours? Will definitely recommend this tour to friends!"

The Samuel Adams Brewery in Jamaica Plain is the smallest of the company’s now-national breweries, but its small size allows it to retain a but of its grass-roots charm, including its popular brewery tour.

Short Walk from Cruise Ship Terminal - Harpoon Brewery & Beer Hall

Short Walk from Cruise Ship Terminal

Walked over for the Monday 12pm tour. Not busy so walked in at 11:55 got $5 ticket upstairs inside and joined the tour of maybe dozen others. There is an elevator if the 20-some steps are a ptronlem. It was over 90 degrees outside and the tour of the brewing operation was even hotter in the unairconditioned brewery. I think the tour group appreciated the rapid delivery of the tour guides. Less talk till sample tasting time. The tasting was done via 2 ounce pours of your choices of dozen or so brands available that day. Lasted maybe 20 minutes. Following tour you can stay in the 2nd floor beer hall and drink pints for $5. I did not but bought some 16oz cans for $2 each to take back to our Oceania cruise ship (they let you bring alcohol back on board.)

Harpoon is a Boston institution. The only food is pretzels, but they're made right there to order and are delicious! The beer selection is great and includes ones not available in retail or pub outlets. The parking lot is right out front, but is not large. Most people park in the garage across the street. There are many special events, so check their website beforehand to see whether a tasting is going on or upcoming so you can coordinate. My only complaint is that when it gets busy, the staff seems hard to hail and it gets super noisy. The beers make up for most of that.

I'd say you should do the tour before start drinking... The experience is pretty cool and if you're not a beer expert, you'd get out of there with a very good idea of the beer making process. Back at the big hall, definitely enjoy the great beer variety they serve.

For the anti macro beer experience, visit the spacious beer hall adjacent to the brewery. Parking little confusing ( Street side or parking garage in an industrial park area). Weiss style, IPS and dark, great food pairings. Great job on set up.

Boyfriend and I wanted to do a local adventure and since we both graduated right next to the Harpoon factory, it's been on our list for a while. Overall, I'm not a huge beer drinker but I love ciders and more fruity beers. We had so much fun with the sampler, the pretzel options (try them all!!!!!), and the tour. The tour guides were really funny and entertaining. They knew their facts and did a good job keeping everyone interested. The website highly recommends public transportation because you're just going to want to keep drinking and trying new things. Pleasantly surprised by how much I liked UFO beers. Other reviews have mentioned the line and while it is true that there is no cover to shield the sun, the line moves relatively quickly. Awesome date!

We love to try local beer when traveling. We waited in line to get in which was fine but there is no cover so we baked in the sun for about 30 minutes. Once we go in we waited for a bar spot and then waited 10 minutes before we got service. The beer was good and the pretzels smelled amazing. We stayed about an hour. The souvenir shop was expensive. We got a magnet. The line was even longer when we were leaving. Overall good but maybe skip it if it looks busy.

Located in South Boston , the Harpoon Brewery ticks all the boxes on the beer lover’s wish list. There’s a detailed, unhurried tour of a working brewing operation and the chance to sample nearly the entire line of Harpoon’s beers (well, as much as you can quaff during 15 minutes at the tasting bar, which is decorated with vintage beer cans from around the world). You can also pick up rarities and limited-run brews at the gift shop (we grabbed the Interrobang Imperial Stout, which has a delirious 18 percent ABV, on our last visit). Once your tour concludes, you can keep the party going at the lively beer hall. The brewery is open daily and pours until till 11 p.m. Thursdays to Saturdays—but be forewarned that long lines often form on weekends.

More Recommendations

Seasonal brews from the source.

Twenty-five years ago, Harpoon Brewery was issued the very first permit to brew and package beer commercially in Boston . Originally surrounded by fish companies on the docks of South Boston , the brewery reflects the energy and spirit of what is now a revitalized and hip area of the city. Seasonal ingredients make their way into the changing labels of this craft beer company, and a tour of the brewery is a perfect way to sample and learn more about the process. The Beer Hall serves pints of over a dozen flavors, and soft pretzels for noshing. Note that tickets are only available for purchase on the day of the tour.

The Best Brewery & Taproom Tours in Boston, Massachusetts

The local Massachusetts beer scene has taken off during the last decade, along with everywhere else in America. Here are some guided and self-guided tours you can take in The Hub, as well as the rest of the Bay State.

Written by CraftJack | Updated 11/20/21 | 7 min read

About to take a brewery tour of Night Shift Brewing in Everett, MA

Sometimes all you want is to casually tour a brewery on your own. Low key, accessible, highly informal, just showing up to a brewery at the tour time is always a fun time. The downside is that sometimes tours fill up. Here are a few Massachusetts breweries that offer in-person tours.

Tours Given By Boston Breweries

Sam adams brewery tour (boston, ma).

Ahh, the Sam Adams brewery tour, an hour long journey through the craft brewing process and the craft beer drinking experience. Sam offers private tours for 20 or more, and, they have private event space for rental, if you say, wanted to do a private tour straight into a birthday or engagement party.

Though the tour is free, they ask that you make a charitable donation to a local charity. Be generous. There are paid tours available if you're looking for something a bit more private. As for food, the brewery brings in food trucks to go along with the local eateries and food establishments nearby.

The pandemic has shut down the Sam Adams Brewery Tour for the foreseeable future. Check back with the brewery in the Spring/Summer of 2021 to see if things have changed.

Tour the Sam Adams Taproom

Harpoon Brewery Tour (Boston, MA)

Harpoon is currently hosting Virtual Tastings in lieu of in-person brewery tours, given the current state of the pandemic. Harpoon Virtual Tastings are 45-minute private sessions that cover Harpoon Brewing's history, a guided tasting, and a back-and-forth Q&A with the good folks at the brewery. This is available to Massachusetts residents only.

Somerville Brewing Company (Somerville, MA)

2pm tours are available at Slumbrew on Saturdays. They are free, which is great, but they are limited to 24 guests. The public tours run for approximately 15 minutes. If you want to arrange for a private tour, you should reach out to the brewery. Corporate outings and birthdays are a great excuse for a private tour.

Dorchester Brewing Company

Learn about Dot Brewing's history every Sunday from 12-2pm. First 10 people to sign up receive an educational tour around the facility where you learn about the brewing process, the ingredients, and the history of the DBco brewery.

Amherst Brewing Company (Amherst, MA)

ABC offers tours by appointment. Though, you may want a tour of how they make those world famous wings while you're there.

Cape Cod Beer (Hyannis, MA)

Cape Cod Beer offers tastings all day. Mini Tours are conducted Monday through Friday at 11am. Full, guided tours are given at 11am on Saturday (only). What's more, cider & wine tastings are available at the brewery.

Greater Good Imperial Brewing Company (Worcester, MA)

Touring Greater Good and sampling the beer is akin to drinking full pints elsewhere, since everything is super boozy. Check in with them for tour times.

Multi-Stop Guided Brew Tours

Sometimes you just want to be along for the ride. That's why it's best to sign up for a guided tour or contract a brew bus, as consuming multiple bevvies and getting behind the wheel is a mistake. Doubly true if Greater Good Imperial Brewing is part of your brewery tour.

Their high abv beers cut to the chase.

Boston Brew Tours & Greater Boston Metro Brewery Tours

Boston brew tours (city brew tours boston).

You drink, we drive. That's the motto of City Brew Tours (Boston). This multi-city business is interested in taking you on a craft beer journey where you will learn about the local craft scene while enjoying it's delicious beer. The breweries that they visit in Boston include Samuel Adams Boston Brewery in Jamaica Plain, Night Shift Brewing in Everett, Dorchester Brewing in Dorchester (makes sense, right?), and the Downeast Cider House in Eastie.

Beyond some of the top breweries of Boston mentioned prior, City Brew Tours is generally well reviewed Tripadvisor.com . And with 719 strong reviews, you can feel rather confident that they will take you to some of the best beer halls and taprooms in the Hub.

City Brew Tours also offers a Metrowest tour in the Natick/Framingham area. This would include stops at Exhibit A , The Kells Beer Company , and Jack's Abby .

Touring the Exhibit A Brewery in Framingham, MA

Mass Brew Bus

The Mass Brew Bus, in conjunction with the Maine Brew Bus (New England's Original Brew Bus), caters to Beer Lovers up and down the Northern New England coast. Covering ground from Providence, RI to the NH border, the Mass Brew Bus offers patrons a local snack/meal, craft beer trivia, and, experiences that get behind the scenes at breweries, cideries, and distilleries.

Hops and Stops

Not to be confused with Hops N' Scotch in Brookline, Hops and Stops toured the greater Boston area breweries and cideries. Starting in 2013, Hops and Stops was created by two guys who sought to create an inefficient and affordable way to tour and sample the local Boston beer scene, not to mention cider houses and distilleries.

It would be wild if you're brewery tour snack was some a handful of real hops .

New England Brewery Tours

NEBT has been serving the Greater Boston area since 2012. Their tours bring you to world-class breweries in and around the city, where you learn about beer styles, the brewing process, and craft beer history. You may just pick up a thing or two about how to pair beer with food. They do their best to keep the tour groups on the smaller side. This gives New England Brewery Tours a chance to have you connect with the brewmasters themselves. They also host corporate events.

Craft Beer Lovers of Boston

Another brewery tour company that hosts tours beyond Boston, traveling across other New England craft beer scenes in Connecticut , Maine , New Hampshire , and Vermont . The owner of Craft Beer Lovers, Jeremy Schmidt, insists that CBL is, "built on a true passion for craft beer" and that they, "organized the brewery tours with high level of professionalism and high quality and world-class customer services". A strong amount of their business comes from referrals.

North Shore Brewery Tours

Conducting public and private tours on the North Shore of Massachusetts, this brew tours biz offers gluten-free and gluten-reduced tours, which is quite interesting. Those tours are private only, but it's still a strong nod toward accessibility. Their tours stretch from Salem to Newburyport.

Brewery Tours in Worcester, Massachusetts

Touring the Greater Good Imperial Brewing Company taproom in Worcester, MA

Brew Bus + Bites Tour

The Brew Bus + Bites (tour) is put on by Mass Foodies. Attendees are treated to a wonderful night of pub crawling around the various Worcester breweries . Guests depart from Wormtown Brewery down on Shrewsbury Street and get immediately handed a can of beer from 3cross Fermentation Coop as they travel en route to destination 1: Greater Good Imperial Brewing Company . Redemption Rock Brewing (also Shrewsbury Street) is stop number two. After RRBC, attendees will be rounded up and whisked back down the street to Wormtown where they wll enjoy another pull off the tap. The tour concludes with a custom pop-up dinner from Chef Jay Powell.

This sounds like it's worth every dollar.

Brew Practitioners Craft Beer Brewery Bus Tour

Fantastic is what Brew Practitioners' Brew Bus is. Just a great idea for a brewery to put on their own craft beer tour. Brew Practitioners is a microbrewery that is moving form NoHo to Agawam shortly, so best to keep that in mind if you live in the Amherst/NoHo area and you want to schedule up a custom tour with them.

Brew tour details: $75-85 per person. 3 Breweries or Wineries (for the non beer folk). A casual lunch. One drink token per venue. And, most important, a driver. "Ale Aboard!"

Get a Plum Island White @ Newburyport. Get something named after a video game at Riverwalk Brewing . Be your own tour guide.

DIY Brew Tours of Craft Beer Bars around Boston

Boston is no slouch when it comes to accommodating the denizens of the local craft beer scene. Though closed now, The Lower Depths in Kenmore, Sunset Grill & Tap in Allston, and Bukowski's Tavern in Cambridge were popular craft brew haunts. Meadhall in Kendall Sq. has an excellent selection of Massachusetts-brewed beer. Stoddard's near the Common and The Publick House in Brookline are a few other excellent bars with wide selections.

Boston’s Best Breweries

We wanted to check out a local brewery on our trip to Boston and luckily, a tour at Harpoon Brewery fit into our schedule!

C likes beer a lot, I prefer cider and Harpoon is our go to cider in the winter so it seemed like the perfect choice to suit us both.

Here’s a look at the visitor tour of Harpoon Brewery and Beer Hall!

Harpoon Brewery Boston

Harpoon Brewery is located in Boston’s Seaport District. After lunch at Oak + Rowan , we made our way to the wharf and immediately spotted all the silver beer kegs of Harpoon. It took a little work to find the entrance but once we were inside, we knew we made it!

There’s a beer hall with a huge selection of Harpoon beers… straight from the source. They also make their own pretzels using their malted barley, so you can pair that with your pint! Luckily for us, the afternoon tour was starting soon so we grabbed a pair of safety goggles and joined in.

The Harpoon Brewery Tour

Funny enough, even though I’m not a huge beer drinker, I somehow have been to quite a number of breweries!

Harpoon’s Boston flagship is their largest manufacturing site and two guides gave us an inside look at the history of the company as well as the brewing process.

Beer Tasting

After a walk around the gang planks and factory, it was tasting time! They had a whopping 12 types on tap for the group to try and were generous about letting you taste as many beers as you wanted.

I think the beer lineup does change, but we tried the seasonal variety, the pineapple beer, raspberry beer, craft cider and golden ale. We both loved the pineapple and raspberry flavors! And of course, I could drink Harpoon craft cider anytime.

How to Visit Harpoon

If you’d like to tour Harpoon Brewery, they run tours every day but you have to purchase tickets the day of, in person. All guests have to be at least 21 or accompanied by an adult during the tour.

Apparently on weekends, the Beer Hall gets packed! It’s a great place in Boston for excellent craft beer.

Planning a Trip to Boston – Travel Checklist

Boston makes for a great weekend trip from New York City . We hopped on a bus ride from midtown which took about 3.5 hours one way, or 5 hours in traffic.

We thought about renting a car but Boston is a very walk-able city and parking can be a nightmare, so the bus ended up being a great option! If you're decide you do want a car to get around, you can check car rental rates here .

Getting around is easy on foot, via the subway or with the Hop-On, Hop-Off trolley . We opted to stay on Public Garden square, but you can browse current Boston hotel deals here .

Lastly, don't forget to get travel insurance for your trip. Whether you get injured and need to be hospitalized, your luggage is delayed or your phone gets stolen, travel insurance will help when you need it most. Get a  quote for your trip here .

5 Top Breweries to Visit in Boston

Check out Boston’s lively brewery scene at these classic and new establishments.

Cambridge Brewing Company

Courtesy of Nina Gallant

The Cambridge Brewing Co., which opened in 1989, serves at least 10 styles of beer on tap, and the options are constantly changing.

The Samuel Adams Brewery is a top destination for beer lovers who visit Boston , but by no means should it be the only one. With brand-new spots and established favorites, the Hub has something brewing for everyone. Here are some of the best places to sample a local beer.

Samuel Adams Brewery

There are probably very few bars in Boston that don't serve Samuel Adams beer on tap or by the bottle these days. After all, it's a brand that has become almost synonymous with the city, at least in many beer drinkers' minds. Owner Jim Koch was at the forefront of the craft brewing craze in the 1980s. He started brewing a lager in his kitchen all those years ago and today his company is beyond successful. Nina Senatore, guest experience ambassador at T he Lenox Hotel, says, "Sam Adams provided the momentum for the local craft beer movement in Boston."

[Read: The Best Hotels in Boston .]

Fans can head to Jamaica Plain to take a free one-hour tour at the Samuel Adams Brewery to learn the history of the brand, see how the beer is made, then enjoy samples at the end. Keith Loveless, head concierge at T he Langham, Boston , says it's worth a visit. "They do a good job. It's outside the city, so it's a little work to get to." No food is served at the brewery, but there are restaurants located near the building.

Tours are offered Monday through Saturday, and tickets are handed out on a first-come, first-served basis. A $2 donation, which goes to a local charity, is requested.

Harpoon Brewery

Harpoon Brewery

Courtesy of Harpoon Brewery

Nicholas MacDonald, head concierge at Hotel Commonwealth , says that while Sam Adams is probably the most popular brewery tour in town, visitors shouldn't miss the Harpoon Brewery . "In the summertime, when you're down by the water, drinking a beer, you can't really go wrong with that," he says.

Harpoon was another brewery ahead of the curve when the craft beer craze hit. In the late 1980s, three friends who loved European beers started their brewery in what is now Boston's bustling Seaport District. The venue offers a full selection of fresh Harpoon beers, along with pretzels to snack on with your brew. If you have time, you can also take a tour of the brewery.

The Harpoon Beer Hall is open daily. Brewery tours are offered daily at various hours. Tickets are $5. You'll learn about the brewing process, then taste a range of freshly brewed Harpoon and UFO beers.

Trillium Brewing Co.

Trillium Brewing Co.

Courtesy of Trillium Brewing Co.

This company started out small in 2013 in the Fort Point neighborhood of Boston and has since skyrocketed to beer fame, earning a long list of awards and accolades. It opened a second location in nearby Canton, which is much larger. For summer 2017, the brewery has also been tapped to operate a beer garden at the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway .

[Read: 10 Boston Bars Locals Love .]

The Fort Point spot is tiny and can be easy to miss, even with a sign pointing the way to the entrance. Visitors can't drink here, but they can purchase 32- or 64-ounce growlers, 16-ounce cans and 750-milliliter bottles to go. Since this is where the brewers test new recipes and sell them, a loyal fan base is willing to stand in line to get them. If you can't wait for a taste, Row 34 restaurant next door usually serves Trillium on tap.

For those who want to sit down and enjoy a Trillium beer at the source, the Canton location (about 20 miles outside of Boston) has a taproom where visitors can sample whatever is fresh. No food is served, but food trucks are parked outside on the weekends. While there are no tours, the space has an open-air design, so you can see most areas of the brewery, including the production floor.

Trillium Brewing Co.'s Fort Point location is open Monday through Saturday, while the Canton location is open daily.

Dorchester Brewing Co.

Dorchester Brewing Co.

Courtesy of Dorchester Brewing Company

A newcomer on the scene when it opened in 2016, the Dorchester Brewing Co. has a creative and fun approach to beer and its production. The taproom features a 20-line tap system, with house beers served alongside local brewing partners and regional collaborators. Visitors can order a tasting flight or get a full pint and even take some fresh beer to go. There are games like Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots if you want to goof around, and while the brewery doesn't serve a full menu, it sells snacks and appetizers and partners with food trucks most weekends. Patrons can also bring in their own food or even order delivery if they want.

[Read: The 15 Best Boston Tours .]

The taproom is open Tuesday through Sunday. The brewery plans to start offering tours this summer.

Cambridge Brewing Co.

Cambridge Brewing Co.

Just across the Charles River from Boston is the Cambridge Brewing Co. , which opened in 1989, making it the oldest brewpub in the area. Visitors can expect at least 10 styles of beer on tap, and the options are constantly changing. While it offers classic beers made with just water, malt, hop and yeast, the brewers here love to experiment. The brewery is famed for its Belgian-style beer. The brewers also have created wood-aged beers and use microflora to enhance flavors. They even tried a sake-beer hybrid.

The pub's menu has classics like pizzas and burgers, but those burgers are grass-fed and come from local farms, while the pizza dough is made fresh daily using the brewery's spent grain and fresh beer. The kitchen changes the menu seasonally, using as many local ingredients as possible.

The brewpub is open daily.

Drag dinners, dance nights, yoga, and trivia: Taylor Swift-themed events are everywhere

Taylor Swift performs in Sydney in February on her Eras World Tour. Her next album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” is set for release April 19.

Sound Check is the Globe’s weekly guide to concerts, tunes, and trends rooted in Boston and beyond. This column covers April 12-18.

If Taylor Swift thinks it’s exhausting “always rooting for the anti-hero ,” wait until she learns how taxing it is to keep up with every event she’s inspired across Greater Boston.

In the wake of a particularly massive 2023 for the pop star — which included the release of “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version),” a billion-dollar haul from her “Eras” tour, and excessive coverage of her relationship with Super Bowl-winning beau Travis Kelce — cultural hubs in the area are catering to Swift’s feverish fandom with themed events, spanning yoga to candlelight cover concerts . And with the fast-approaching April 19 arrival of her 11th studio album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” in mind, many businesses have doubled down on the trend.

Sipping mimosas to the sound of Swiftian heartbreak? There’s an event for that: the “Rise & Remix Brunch (Taylor’s Version)” at Rail Stop in Brighton on April 20 . Reliving the “Eras” tour by swapping friendship bracelets among fellow fans? There’s an outing for that too, an April 19 listening party and craft night hosted by Time Out Market. The Boston Public Library has even tapped into the trend and organized a tween fan celebration on April 20 at its Adams Street branch.

harpoon brewery tour boston

If you can name a type of event, it’s likely already been spun into a local tribute to Swift, as proven by bingo at Harpoon Brewery ( Wednesday ), a “drag dinner” at Summer Shack ( April 19 ), and dance nights at venues like the House of Blues ( April 20 ) and the Middle East Downstairs ( April 26 ). Swiftie trivia in particular remains popular at taprooms like Night Shift Brewing in Everett, which will welcome casual and ardent fans for some friendly competition on Thursday (April 18).

To say the market has become saturated with Swiftie soirees would be putting it lightly. But for small restaurants, bars, and shops, indulging in a little fanfare can result in a big boost for business.

Alex Skinner, Night Shift’s taproom manager, says that their Taylor Swift trivia nights have been a reliable way to broaden the customer base and pack the brewery on otherwise quiet days. Next Thursday’s trivia night will be Night Shift’s third rendition of the event in roughly a year — more than they’d usually schedule for any other themed trivia night — but the demand has yet to taper. In fact, when these competitions sell out in advance, hopeful guests still call to inquire if there’s room for a few extra fans. It’s not uncommon for customers to request Night Shift’s Swift-inspired cocktails (which aren’t on the standard menu) on regular nights, either.

“During our slow months, it helps us survive,” Skinner explains. “When we first started proposing these events, I was a little skeptical, but after seeing [the success], there’s no denying the force and impact that she has.”

PinkPantheress comes to Royale for a show Friday.

PinkPantheress showcases her dance-pop prowess on Friday at Royale for her “Capable of Love” tour. The English singer and producer has remained one of the most promising rising acts in recent years, bedazzling Ice Spice’s hip-hop on their collaboration “Boy’s a liar Pt. 2″ and streamlining liquid drum and bass on her 2023 record “Heaven knows.”

Nashville indie rock act WILLIS tout their just-released debut record “I Can’t Thank You Enough” at Brighton Music Hall on Friday ; the following week at the venue, lovelytheband revive their late-2010s earworm “broken” alongside tracks from their 2023 release “if we’re being honest” on Thursday .

Fans of pop icons can head to the Berklee Performance Center on Friday and Saturday for the Michael Jackson Ensemble: Human Nature , the latest addition to the college’s “Signature Series” lineup. Meanwhile, the Contemporary Music Department at the New England Conservatory reinterprets the music of David Bowie with a free show at Jordan Hall on Wednesday .

Bad Bunny brings his Most Wanted Tour to TD Garden April 17.

Rapper Waka Flocka Flame visits Big Night Live on Saturday with his new single “Foreva,” followed by a seductive rotation of R&B from Boston DJs including Real P and Baby Indiglo at the ever-popular “Silk” dance night on Sunday .

Movements and Tigers Jaw bring echoes of emo and indie rock to Roadrunner on Saturday with the “RUCKUS!” tour, while Cypress Hill blends ‘90s hip-hop gold and more modern cuts — perhaps the Barron Ricks collab “Tequila Sunrise” — at the group’s show on Thursday .

Bad Bunny ’s Most Wanted Tour springs into TD Garden on Wednesday . Mayor Michelle Wu feted the Puerto Rican star’s last Boston performance by declaring Aug. 18, 2022, “Bad Bunny Day” in the city, which Newbury Street shop Concepts commemorated last summer with a special model of Adidas sneakers .

NOW SPINNING

Nia Archives , “Silence Is Loud.” On her first studio album, the British singer and producer professes her loneliness — then promptly drowns it out — with spasms of frantic electronica. “Without you, the silence is loud,” she admits on the title track, before stuffing the void with 13 songs’ worth of skittering beats and wisdom gleaned from her mid-20s.

Bad Bad Hats , “Bad Bad Hats.” It pays to be a Patreon supporter of Bad Bad Hats, who used the platform to accept fan-made songwriting prompts and gear up for their first self-produced record. Effortlessly cool yet peppered with whimsy (like Talking Heads-esque speech-singing on “TPA”), the Minneapolis band accessorizes their pop-rock with quirky hooks that’ll knock around noggins for days.

The Ballroom Thieves , “Sundust.” With vocals that melt into an unhurried backdrop of folksy instrumentals, the Massachusetts-born group sing, strum, and pluck their way toward a gentler world on the follow-up to their 2022 record “Clouds.” Languid as a Sunday afternoon, the album’s singles — “Tender” and “Casual” — spell out the band’s apparent mindset when assembling their latest project.

BONUS TRACK

Hours before this week’s solar eclipse, Missy Elliott announced the intergalactic-themed “Out of This World” tour featuring Busta Rhymes , Ciara , and Timbaland . The 24-date journey across North America — which stops at TD Garden on Aug. 10 – marks the rapper’s first headlining tour in her decades-spanning career. Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday at 10 a.m.

Harpoon was started in 1986 by Dan Kenary, Rich Doyle, and George Ligeti. They were three friends who loved beer and loved drinking beer together but found the beer choices at the time to be limited. Traveling through Europe and experiencing the rich traditions of European brewing and beer drinking enhanced their love of beer and opened their eyes to the rich beer culture they wanted back home. They decided to build a brewery so that they could brew the beers that they wanted to drink, and invite their friends to the brewery to drink it with them.

In June of 1987, a warehouse space on the Boston waterfront was transformed into a brewery and the first Harpoon Ale was brewed. Fresh, local craft beer began making its way out to Boston beer drinkers. It was hard to imagine that craft brewing would become what it has today. Though many   things have changed since the early days of Harpoon, much has stayed the same. We still love brewing beer and enjoying it with friends. One thing that has changed: in August 2014 Harpoon became an employee owned company!

Our motto, “Love Beer. Love Life.” embodies our pride in not only brewing great beer but enjoying the experiences that get paired with it. It’s meant to be open to interpretation because we know that “Love Beer. Love Life” possibilities are endless.
