Much improved bus service from airport…

Much improved bus service from airport to Hilton Terminal 5 hotel. The hotel and parking have always been good. What let the package down was the Hoppa bus timetable and reliability when returning in the afternoon or evening. The service is now every 30 minutes and is reliable.

Blue car park at Stansted Airport

We always book with holiday extras for the Blue car park at Stansted. Just 5 min walk to the main terminal, well signposted and easy to find and navigate. The ANPR camera always recognises our car first time and never any issues. We come back again and again and always satisfied.

Date of experience : April 28, 2024

Have used Holiday extra carparks a few times at various airports. My go to when looking for parking. Road markings in Stansted yellow short stay needs updating as if you follow them you end up at the blue car park. Otherwise very easy to use.

No problems whatsoever

No problems whatsoever, arrived a little earlier than scheduled but barriers opened straight away. Same on return, smooth exit from T2 West at Manchester.

I spoke to a lovely lady "Lauren" who was very helpful and added my change in medical condition to my policy, very efficient, polite and helpful. Didn't wait very long in the queue, unlike some companies who keep you waiting for ages, sometimes up to 1 hour recently.

Great company

Great company, have used several times at various airports and always goes to military precision. The thing that has always really stood out to me is how polite all the staff are at the counter, on the buses and in the car park areas, they always greet you with a smile ask where you are off to on holiday and when you return ask if you have had a nice time. Manners are free and this to me makes APH carparking extremely good.

Holiday Extras for all your travel needs

Holiday Extras offer fantastic services. I have used them for many years and not just for Airport Parking, which is effortlessly constructed as a product, I come back time and time again. Holiday Extras also provide amazing package trips to some fantastic events. Being able to book an event and an overnight stay, with ease, one price, one customer service if needed is fantastic. Never had any problems, website and/ or App give explanations that are easy to read and understand. Highly recommend.

Date of experience : April 25, 2024

Effortless Parking

We have used Holidayextras for parking for our last 3 trips and each one has been effortless and worry free. I would recommend them as they are more affordable than going direct.

Poor Customer Service

Beware if you need to cancel. Due to medical emergency we needed to cancel a car parking booking. Accepted this was a non refundable booking but we had travel insurance so this could be claimed (we thought) When we cancelled the booking we were issued with a useless voucher meaning we could not claim on our travel insurance. No telephone support. Tried twice via live chat and was repeatedly told there was no way to reject the voucher. Live chat refused to share the registered business address. All we needed was a note saying it was completely cancelled and that no refund or voucher given. All other companies we had used provided this with complete ease.

Maybelle is a true credit to Holiday…

Maybelle is a true credit to Holiday Extra's! She made the cancellation/refund process simple, and helped me understand what the next steps would be. She was prompt with her responses, kind, attentive, understanding and patient as I had to keep popping away from my desk.

Nice, easy and friendly. Exit at Luton a little confusing. I'd have given 5 star but 2 taken off for the unprofessional driving on the way back from airport. He was on a call via bluetooth, echoing loudly in the bus. Feeling very uncomfortable, I asked if he could not have in a way that we could hear, he responded that it wasn't a personal call. Personal or work, sir, your customers DON'T need to hear it! Finished the 1st, made a 2nd asking for shift for the next day, still loudly echoing all over the bus. DISGRACEFUL! No matter your job title, being on duty means being professional.

Affordable and reliable holiday extras

From booking to completion, this was an excellent experience and value for money. Kept well informed, helpline easily available. Premier inn, a perfect spot for a stay near the airport with easy assess to the airport parking. Drop and go was as explained, perfect timing with departure and return. Highly recommend using this company.

Sales the way it should be

Kelly was friendly, helpful & informative, she checked other options to see if I could get more for less & was clear in everything we spoke about.

Cannot fault Holiday Extras today

Cannot fault Holiday Extras today, had to contact them to notify them if a change to our screening and we travel in less than two weeks. The lady we spoke to was so kind and efficient and called us back as soon as she was able having heard back from the Underwriting team. Fantastic service. Thank you.

Airparks drop off Luton

Great service on Airparks drop off at Luton but a bit of a scrum on the transfer back near midnight on Sunday and car parked close to a water filled pothole.

large carpark very simple to park

large carpark very simple to park, signage to car park is good. carpark is split up into zones so its easy to find your car on return. walk to airport is perhaps 5 to 10 mins. last bit of the walkway is under cover.

On Line Chat

I booked parking at Heathrow airport and I couldn’t change the car details. My husband has his own number plate but the car make and model we’re wrong. I used the online chat and got Lydia who was very helpful and sorted everything straight away.

Date of experience : April 27, 2024

Premiair edinburgh

Premiair edinburgh, lacked terminal signs and no bus transport available. Very disappointing. The car park also is very untidy and dusty leaving our car covered in thick dust and grime after 4 days

This was our second time of booking…

This was our second time of booking through holiday extras and both times we were well impressed. We stayed at the airport Inn both times along with parking and we cannot find fault. The reception staff, bar staff and restaurant staff are so friendly and helpful. We will definitely be using holiday extras again..

Always A Pleasure To Deal With.

I have used Holiday Extras for several years and have always been easy to deal with. i tried buying a new policy through a comparison website but my payment would not go through. I decided to contact Holiday Extras direct and spoke to Yvette who was friendly, polite and extremely helpful. Everything got sorted and i now have a new policy - bring on the travel.

Common travel insurance questions

How do i make claim on my travel insurance.

The easiest way to make a claim on your Post Office Travel Insurance policy is online. Or, if you prefer to talk to one of our team, you can make a claim by phone

Our  how to make a claim page walks you through the steps for both routes.

Does Post Office Travel Insurance include cover for Covid-19?

All Post Office Travel Insurance include a level of cover for disruption resulting from Covid-19 in some circumstances. You can also add our trip disruption option , which provides additional cover for others set out in the policy wording.

For more information, visit our page on travel insurance covid-19 cover .

I’m on my trip and need emergency medical assistance. What should I do?

Call our emergency medical assistance line 0208 865 3074 any time, 24/7. If you’re calling from outside the UK, dial 44 first and leave out the first zero

How do I renew or cancel the renewal of my travel insurance policy?

When you buy an annual multi-trip policy, it can be renewed automatically or manually. Or, if you prefer it doesn’t renew, you can turn off the auto-renewal. Whatever your choice, we’ll write to you around 28 days before the date your current policy is due to end. We’ll detail any changes we’ll make should you wish to renew the policy. And we’ll give you a quote for the next year’s cover.

Automatic renewal:  if you buy an annual multi-trip policy, it will be set to renew automatically at the end of its term to keep you covered. If you prefer to opt out of this, you can do so then or any time during the policy. You can also turn auto renewal on later. Just call our contact centre. If you’ve declared medical conditions for anyone listed on the policy, it can’t be set to auto renew.

Manual renewal:  If you’ve opted out of auto renewal, it’s easy to set this up later or renew manually. You can do this in your online account. Or just call our contact centre. If you miss the renewal date, you can still take out a new policy later. You’ll need to start a new quote, as the renewal quote is only valid until your current policy’s expiry date. This may also mean a gap in your cover until the new policy starts.

Turning off auto-renewal:   If your existing policy is set to auto renew but you change your mind later, you can turn it off any time during the policy term. Again, just do this in your online account or call our contact centre. If you’re within the last 8 days of your policy, you’ll need to call our contact centre to do so. The later you do this the higher the chance a renewal payment will be taken by the bank. If this happens before your renewal cancellation is processed, we’ll make sure your payment is refunded.

My policy includes Flight Delay Assistance. How do I register a flight?

If you bought a Post Office Travel Insurance policy with our premier level of cover, it includes Flight Delay Assistance. You should have received an email from us with details of how to register for this service. If you can’t find the email, arranged your policy in a Post Office branch or don't have an email address, all the information you need will be in your policy confirmation pack. You can register your flights using our self-service centre. Log into your account

Can I book travel insurance through Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines?

Search frequently asked questions

Help topics

Having appropriate cruise insurance cover is a requirement for booking your holiday with us. Knowing you have comprehensive cover means you can relax and concentrate on planning the rest of your holiday. To help, we’ve provided three top tips for organising your cover.

TIP ONE: Ensure you have the right cover. To avoid any pitfalls it’s best to ensure your cover is specific to cruise holidays. Also, declaring all pre-existing medical conditions to your insurer will reduce your potential for financial consequences.

TIP TWO : Avoid potential loopholes It is tempting to save money and opt for the cheapest holiday insurance. However, many policies have loopholes that will not provide cover for the exact circumstance in the claim. Be sure to investigate what’s covered in your policy.

TIP THREE : Purchase your cover early We advise you to get insurance organised for your forthcoming cruise as soon as you have booked. This will give you peace of mind that you are covered and protect your non-refundable deposit.

Understanding travel insurance for seniors

Before diving into the specifics, it's essential to understand what travel insurance is and why it's particularly important for senior travelers. The best travel insurance offers financial protection against unexpected events affecting your trip, such as trip cancellations, medical emergencies, or lost luggage.

Types of coverage

  • Medical Coverage: Ensures your medical expenses are covered in case of illness or injury.
  • Trip Cancellation/Interruption Coverage: Provides reimbursement if your trip is canceled or cut short due to unforeseen events.
  • Baggage Coverage: Covers loss, damage, or theft of personal items during your trip.

Benefits of travel insurance for seniors

  • Peace of Mind: Knowing you're covered in case of emergencies can make your travel stress-free.
  • Financial Protection: Shields you from potentially overwhelming medical costs and trip cancellations fees.
  • Assistance Services: Many plans offer 24/7 assistance services, providing help whenever and wherever you need it.

Making the most of your plan

After choosing a plan, it's crucial to understand your policy fully and know what services are available to you in case of an emergency.

Understanding your policy

  • Read the fine print and understand the claims process to avoid surprises.

Emergency assistance services

  • Familiarize yourself with the emergency assistance services offered by your plan and keep all necessary contact information handy.

How to pick senior travel insurance

It's wise to compare several different travel insurance policies for the best coverage and pricing, as premiums vary widely between insurers and depend on factors like your age and travel destination.

That said, some of the more essential coverages to look for if you're a senior citizen include:

  • Travel medical coverage - This coverage will pay for your medical bills outside the US.
  • Medical evacuation coverage - If you're injured or become sick while traveling, this coverage will transport you to the nearest hospital or even back home if your condition necessitates it.
  • Preexisting conditions - Coverage for known health conditions. You'll need to purchase travel insurance within a certain time period from when you book your trip to qualify for a preexisting condition waiver .
  • Cancel for any reason (CFAR) - The name says it all! It'll cost extra and you'll need to purchase insurance early, but it's the most comprehensive trip cancellation coverage you can get. Note that CFAR insurance usually only covers up to 75% of your trip fees.
  • Trip cancellation insurance - This coverage provides reimbursement for your prepaid and nonrefundable costs if you cannot make your trip due to an unforeseen event.
  • Baggage delay insurance - This coverage will reimburse you for essentials like toiletries and clothes if your bags are delayed.
  • Lost luggage insurance - This coverage will reimburse you up to a specified amount if your bags get lost en route.

Of these, the most critical to note are whether or not your policy covers preexisting conditions and the limits for travel medical insurance and emergency medical evacuation.

Some insurance companies offer a waiver that will cover preexisting conditions. You'll have to follow the requirements for adding a waiver to your policy, like insuring the entire cost of your trip. Or purchase the policy within a specific time after making your first trip deposit payments.

You'll also want to find a policy with high maximum limits for travel medical and emergency medical evacuation coverage. These types of expenses can be substantial, so you want to have appropriate coverage.

When comparing senior travel insurance options, we looked at the following factors to evaluate each travel insurance provider:

  • Coverage limits: We looked at each travel insurance company's coverage amounts for benefits like medical emergencies and trip cancellation.
  • Flexibility: We looked at how customizable a policy is, so you can choose what your travel insurance policy covers .
  • Coverage for preexisting conditions: Preexisting conditions are one of the more critical factors for travel insurance for senior citizens, so we looked at travel insurance companies that offer the best coverage for preexisting conditions.
  • Price: We compared travel insurance providers offering reasonable basic and comprehensive coverage rates.
  • Benefits geared towards seniors: We compared travel insurance companies that offer solid coverage for senior citizens, like medical evacuation, COVID-19 coverage, and trip cancellation.

You can read more about our insurance rating methodology here.

Seniors should look for travel insurance policies that offer comprehensive medical coverage, including for preexisting conditions and emergency medical evacuation. They should also consider policies with higher coverage limits to ensure adequate protection. Additionally, seniors should seek travel insurance plans that provide 24/7 assistance services, as well as coverage for trip cancellations, interruptions, and baggage protection.

The cost of senior travel insurance coverage can vary depending on your age, overall health, state of residence, travel destination, and length of your trip. However, assuming all other factors are the same, you'll pay more for travel insurance at 70 than at 30.

All travel insurance companies, except World Nomads, included in this guide offer coverage for pre-existing medical conditions as long as you buy your policy within the qualifying period from when you placed your trip deposit.

Allianz is the best travel insurance for seniors due to its wide array of medical coverages and emergency medical transport. Allianz also offers multi-trip insurance policies , which could make sense for seniors who travel frequently.

In some instances, travel insurance companies will have age eligibility restrictions, often only insuring people 80 years old and younger.
