A RELAXED TOUR THROUGH HISTORIC SCOTTSDALE

Our comprehensive Scottsdale city tour covers over 50 miles of historical and cultural sites. In addition to major landmarks, your Tour Guide will take you to sites where historical events occurred, such as the site where German soldiers dug a tunnel to escape a WWII prisoner of war camp. Guests will be entertained with the History of the Area along with notable current events.

WHAT TO WEAR

Closed-toe shoes are required for when we venture out on foot at our designated stopping points. During the fall and winter months, be sure to bring a jacket. Temperatures in the desert drop ~30 degrees after sunset. We recommend wearing comfortable outdoor clothing that will show up well in your photographs (there will be plenty!)

The Scottsdale Tours is a special recreation permit-holder through the U.S. Department of Agriculture: Cave Creek Ranger District and the U.S. Department of the Interior: Bureau of Land Management. Our Scottsdale departure off-road tours occur northwest of Rio Verde, northeast of Scottsdale, west of the Verde River, and southeast of Cave Creek. Our Table Mesa off-road tours occur northwest of New River and southwest of Black Canyon City.

Health restrictions: Off-road tours are rough, bumpy rides through rigorous terrain. Our off-road tours are not suitable for guests with back problems, neck problems, motion sickness, pregnancy, major medical conditions, or any other health condition that can be aggravated by a bumpy ride through rough terrain. Maximum weight per seat: 275 pounds. Call our office at least 24 hours in advance to make special arrangements.

Head out for a day of travel including 18 miles of high desert terrain. Learn of the incredible wildlife and native plants and how they were used by Native Americans for food and medicine. Visit Mud Springs before reaching the highest point of Four Peaks where the Ponderosa Pine Forest stretches as far as the eye can see offering endless photo opportunities.

Tour Details

Experience a unique journey through the American West. Ride through the Verde Valley with a local guide, each with their own unique personality, and learn all about the Yavapai Nation and the great American West. Flora, Fauna, Geology and Native American way of life are all included on this awesome 1.5-hour tour. The trail is not too bumpy but is definitely full of adventure. Our capable Jeeps are built to handle the terrain and load. All tours include a nature walk where you can get out, stretch your legs, and enjoy the views.

Ever wondered what the names of all those crazy desert plants are, like the Jumping Cholla, or what they’re used for? Your guide knows! You will be able to spot wild animals or find their tracks and guess what kind of critter made them.
