Tradewinds Sail

Experience a classic sailing adventure along Waikiki Beach. This tradewinds sail shows you what the modern and ultra-sleek Maita'i catamaran can do! The wind and waves rush by while you enjoy the spectacular views of Waikiki and Diamond Head. Unwind with a tropical drink, enjoy the ocean breeze and look out for marine life, including turtles and humpback whales during the winter whale watch season.

Sunset Sail

Looking for something a bit more romantic? Then come aboard for Maita'i Catamaran's sunset sail. Leave your shoes behind, barefoot board right on Waikiki Beach, sail out through the surf line and leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind. Sit back and enjoy the island's beauty and watch the sun dip below the horizon coloring the ocean and sky in a rainbow of colors. Sip a beer, wine or tropical cocktail while marveling at Oahu's scenic south shore.

Friday Fireworks Sail

Sail by the light of the moon while the stars guide your way on this romantic evening sail along Waikiki Beach. Enjoy the views of the city night lights in the distance as you glide across the deep blue sea with Mahina (Hawaiian for "moon"). It's a feeling unlike any other! This sail comes complete with the usual beverages, but with the magical night sky as the backdrop. Mai Tais. Sunsets. Waikiki, Hawaii. | This sunset sail was an absolutely DELIGHT! They offer a few different times throughout the day. The sunset sail is open-bar. That's right – OPEN BAR.

There's also a few non-alcoholic options too! It's about 1.5 hours on the water, with check-in 30-minutes prior to the sail . We check in at their kiosk right on the beach.

Beach Catamaran

So much fun! I absolutely love beach catamarans. They are casual and relaxed. This boat did not disappoint. The crew was friendly and we had a few mai tais. Check it out!

Accessibility

Boarding for the Mai Tai catamaran is on the beach. There is no dock or pier. You will need to walk in the water to board the boat. If you prefer a sunset sail with a dock, Port Hilton is the only docked catamaran in Waikiki.

This is one Mai Tai you’ll remember. You’ll board barefoot from Waikiki Beach, then sail into the sunset sipping a fruity Mai Tai. (Great name, don’t you think?) We’ll also be serving beer, wine, juices, and soft drinks if you prefer. And, of course, plenty of water. This romantic journey offers golden views of Diamond Head, Waikiki and Honolulu’s cityscape, as the sun paints the sky and melts into the sea.

Sunset Sail on the Mai Tai Catamaran

Going on a sunset cruise is a must during your visit to Waikiki. Stunning views of Diamond Head, the Honolulu skyline, and the ocean await. There are quite a few companies to choose from but this is why we loved the Mai Tai Catamaran .

Mai Tai Catamaran Sheraton Waikiki 2255 Kalakaua Ave Honolulu, HI 96815 You can book your sail on the Mai Tai Catamaran on their website. They have various different sails available including day sails, sunset sails, moonlight sails, and private charters. We went on a sunset sail which included an open bar. You’ll check in 30 minutes prior to your sail at the kiosk located on the beachfront area of the Sheraton Waikiki. There are port-o-potty type bathrooms on the boat but I’d recommend going at the Sheraton before your sail. Also make sure to book early, sunset sails get booked up first since they are so popular. Prices vary per type of sail and children are cheaper than adults. You can read more info and book online on the Mai Tai Catamaran’s Website HERE .

Your sail on the Mai Tai will be barefoot! It may also be a little wet getting on and off so I highly suggest wearing your swimsuit and a cover up or some clothes you don’t mind getting a little wet. They do have places on the boat to store your shoes and bags.

One thing about the Mai Tai is your ticket includes an open bar for the entire cruise! They have beers, mai tai’s juice and water available for your unlimited enjoyment (so more than just alcoholic beverages). This is where we were introduced to Hawaiian Sun juices, and we fell in love!

The entire cruise you will have the most beautiful view of Diamond Head. You’ll sail out towards it and then turn around and head back into Waikiki Beach during the sunset.

There were lots of other sails also out at the same time, we enjoyed waving at the other boats.

You do have an opportunity to stand on the edge of the front of the boat. Keep in mind it gets pretty wet up there! It makes a great spot to feel the wind in your hair and snap some photos.

The staff was so fun and upbeat, they made the sail a great experience for us. They were also graciously willing to snap photos for everyone.

The sunset is so much more breathtaking when you’re on a boat. It feels so much closer than when you’re watching it from the beach.

Mai tai sunset cruise

Definitely a must for a visit to Waikiki. Cruises are about 1.5-2 hours. During the day cruises I believe it is a cash bar. The sunset cruise is all you can drink included in the price. Stunning views- don't forget your camera! The staff is friendly and will help with pictures and will point out different sites to you.

We were told by some friends who had visited Oahu that the Maitai Catamaran Sunset Cruise was a must and I totally agree!!! We booked the 1 and 1/2 hour cruise while we were already in Oahu. It was one of the best nights on our week long vacation! The sights of the sunset along the beautiful Waikiki Beach were breathtaking, along with Diamond Head on our route! We got to sit back relax and take amazing scenic photos! It was $40 well spent especially since all drinks were included! They had amazing Mai Tai's, beer, wine,and soft drinks!

This was a highlight for all I'm our party. The guides where lovely, friendly and helpful. The teenage children absolutely loved the ride. We sat up the front of the catamaran and when the guides told us we'll get wet they weren't wrong. The ride was smooth the water was Chrystal clear and warm. They serve Maitai's on the boat and they're lovely to. We got a deal on group on and this was the cheapest activity we did and by far the most fun. Well worth taking a ride.

We loved the Mata'i Catamaran. It was a great way to escape the midday heat and enjoy the beautiful blues of the ocean. Sit in the front by the net for the best views. Stand up to avoid extra splashing and wear sunglasses so the salt water doesn't get in your eyes. Be prepared to get your picture taken before boarding. Enjoy!

This was my fifth sailing with them over the past 7 years. It's a wonderful 90-minute open ocean experience. A bit choppy sometimes, but if you're OK with sitting or standing on a less than steady ground, you'll enjoy it.

This was a very cool experience. We did a snorkel excursion and there were tons of fish and turtles on the trip. Several of the people on the boat said that the turtles would surface right next to them. We got served lunch and the fish would swim right next to the boat and fight over anything that was thrown overboard. That was quite entertaining especially for the kids. It is definitely something everyone should do once.

What to know

Sails:  5:00 pm until the sun sets Check in:  30 minutes prior to sail. It is barefoot boarding so you will need to take any footwear off and carry it on the catamaran. Please bring:  towels. Complementary Beverages:  include Mai Tais, beer, wine, champagne, juices, soft drinks and plenty of water.

Children  3 years and under are free. However, due to coast guard regulations, you need to let us know if they are coming.

Best place to park is at the Sheraton Waikiki. Order a meal or a drink from the “Sand Bar” and they will validate for up to 4 hours. Look for the famous green sails  on Waikiki Beach in between the Halekulani Hotel and Sheraton Waikiki Hotel.

If booking in less than 7 days of your event, CALL and check for availability before booking. The Maita’i Sunset Sail is a popular event that usually sells out quickly.

Hands down one of the best happy hours in Waikiki!! Their main drink is the mai tai but they also have wine, beer, seltzers, and non-alcoholic drinks. The 3pm cruise was perfect for us! We went on the 3-4:30pm cruise the ... n headed over to Duke's Waikiki for an early dinner. I'd recommend the afternoon option if you're looking for a nice short activity in the sun. The crew was great and we had a blast!

Being on Maui’s western shore, the crescent-shaped beach couldn’t be in a better spot to watch the sun slowly dip below the horizon. The sunsets can be epic when seen from Wailea Beach, especially if the atmospheric conditions are ideal for the colors to be as vivid and vibrant as possible. You will view sunset from a luxurious waterfront hotel, while a musician serenades you on an acoustic guitar or perhaps a ukulele. Although ukuleles are Hawaii’s most iconic musical instrument, they originated in Portugal and weren’t introduced to Hawaii until the late 19th century. To enhance the beachfront experience, you will be served a couple of Mai Tais and a selection of classic island snacks that may include coconut shrimp, pulled-pork sliders and taro chips.
