While you are near Hadimba Temple, you might also want to check out Southern Souls , if you are craving some delicious South Indian food.
You can call it a day, whenever you feel tired, or when it starts to get dark.
Day 3 of this One Week Trip to Manali is reserved for a Road Trip to Lahul Valley via Atal Tunnel . Atal Tunnel aka Rohtang Tunnel, built under the Rohtang Pass, that took around 10 years to be fully operational, has become the most famous attraction for everyone who is visiting Manali.
At a length of 9.02 kms, Atal Tunnel is the longest tunnel above 10,000 feet , and cuts the travel time between Manali and Leh by around 3-4 hours. You enter the tunnel in Manali and end up in the Lahul Valley . And the very fact that you can travel from Manali to Sissu in 15-20 minutes via the Atal Tunnel is what has turned Atal Tunnel into the most talked about attraction in and around Manali.
Under ideal conditions, one can go all the way till Baralacha La Pass and come back to Manali on the same day, however if you take your time, there are plenty of nooks and corners enroute Darcha, where you can spend time just enjoying the moment and the scenery.
One can always take a cab, however to truly experience the thrill of riding through the Atal Tunnel and immersing yourself in the surroundings, go on a bike / scooty.
PS – There are plenty of places from where you can rent a 2 wheeler in Manali.
Deemed to be the prettiest grassland trek in Himachal, the Bhrigu Lake Trek is something that should definitely be on your radar, which is why I have added the Bhrigu Lake Trek in this 7 Day Manali Travel Itinerary.
While the best time to do the trek is definitely between May and September , when it’s all green and the clouds are at your level, one can trek up to Bhrigu Lake practically any time of the year, subject to the weather conditions.
Please note that the temperature during summers hovers around 20-25 C in the daytime and falls to 5-7 C at night. In winter the temperature gets lower with 10-15 C around daytime and nearly 0 to -7 C at night. Almost half a year the lake remains frozen, and one can enjoy the sight of snow even during the early summer time.
Bhrigu Lake Trek is a Easy – Moderate level trek, and can be easily done in 2 days, provided it hasn’t snowed yet , as snow makes the trail more tricky and you need to be cautious and you ultimately end up taking more time
On Day 1 you trek for roughly 4-5 hours covering a distance of 6 kms from the starting point at Gulaba at an altitude of 9000 feet until the campsite at Rola Kholi, which is at an altitude of 12,500 feet.
On Day 2 you start early in the morning and start the 4-5 kms trek uphill to reach Bhrigu Lake from Rola Kholi. Ideally it should take you around 3-4 hours to reach Bhrigu Lake, which is at an altitude of 14,000 feet , while taking intermediate breaks enroute to snack on and to enjoy the mesmerising views of the mighty Himalayan Peaks including Deo Tibba and Hanuman Tibba.
A 30 – 45 minute stoppage at Bhrigu Lake should be more than enough for you to take it all in !
On the way down, it shouldn’t take you more than 2 hours to reach back to the campsite Rola Kholi, where you have your brunch / lunch.
If you happen to go with any trek company, chances are that you’ll stay back at the campsite for the night, but we recommend you to start heading back to Gulaba by 2 – 3 PM max.
As it’s all downhill, you should be back to Gulaba by 6 PM, and you can go back to your hotel/hostel – take a relaxing hot shower, have a hearty meal, and have a good night’s sleep.
Yes, you will be stretching it out on Day 2 and will be walking for almost 16 kms, but trust me, it’s better than staying an extra night in the tents, and walking down on the 3rd day.
Alternatively, you can also check out the Lama Dugh Trek, if Bhrigu Lake Trek is not feasible.
A 45 minute – 1 hour drive from Old Manali is Hallan Village – A quaint hamlet in the lap of Himalayas, away from the chaos of Manali. And in this quaint hamlet, you will find a couple of rustic home-stays and hostels, with unparalleled views of the majestic Himalayas, that can be your new Workstation with a view .
If you are lucky and there are clouds in the sky, you will fall in love with the setting, as the skies in front of you will be a canvas dotted with clouds, and numerous colours during sunrise and sunset.
The best thing about spending the day in Hallan – 1 , is that there are no distractions, and you don’t have to go anywhere looking for food, meaning you can be at peace, and have your creative juices flowing.
Being away from the hustle bustle of city life and the crowd that Manali attracts , Hallan – 1 is without a doubt, one of the best places to be based out of during your Workation in Manali as you can easily Disconnect wIth the World and Re-Connect with yourself.
As it’s the last day of this 7 Day Manali Travel Itinerary , you can either wake up early and catch one last sunrise in paradise or can take it slow and wake up whenever you do without having to worry about the alarm.
Take in the last few moments of the bliss, soak it all in, and post lunch head back to the bus stop and take the bus to Chandigarh / Delhi.

#1 If you don’t want to do a long trek such as Bhrigu Lake Trek or Lama Dugh, you can opt for shorter hikes around Manali. And the ones that I’ll recommend are a hike up to Jogni Waterfalls , and a hike to Manali Wildlife Sanctuary , which is one of Manali’s Hidden Wonders.
#2 If you are a solo traveller, I highly recommend you to check into one of the hostels in Old Manali such as The Hosteller Manali | YOLO Backpackers – Manali | Alt Life Manali | Zostel Manali , so that you can interact and meet fellow travellers and plan for the activities listed in this 7 Day Manali Travel Itinerary, together. It’ll end up being more economical.
#3 If time permits, and you can extend your stay, you might also want to check out some of these Boutique Home-stays in and around Manali such Zostel Homes Shuru | Mid Orchard Cottage | Zostel Homes Rumsu from where you can Work from Mountains as well.
Day 4 and 5 – Go on a Trek – Bhrigu Lake / Lama Dugh
Day 6 – Head to Hallan – 1 Village | Disconnect with the World

Manali is one of India’s most popular tourist destinations. Everyone, from trekkers to couples and families, likes to travel to Manali at least once in their lives. It has been a top-rated tourist destination amongst Indians for as long as one can remember. So, it makes for an excellent choice to visit this beautiful town in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh . Plan your budget trip to Manali.
It is located in the Kullu Valley, also known as the “ Valley of the Gods .” It is at the northern end of the Kullu Valley, formed by the Beas River.
This article provides a perfect guide to planning a Manali trip budget so that this trip will never go hard on your pocket; in the end, you will get a complete idea of all the places, activities, stays, etc., which are budget-friendly.
Due to their proximity, Kullu and Manali are frequently used together. However, Manali is approximately 50 kilometres from Kullu, and both are breathtakingly beautiful. So, when one visits there, they pass through Kullu, as both are on the same tourism circuit. More specifically, it is merged from a tourism standpoint.
By Air: The nearest airport is Bhuntar, about 50 kilometres from Manali. Domestic flights from Bhuntar connect many cities, and you can also take a pre-paid taxi from the airport. However, due to weather conditions, flights might not be the most dependable way to get to or from Manali.
By Taking the Bus: Manali connects to significant tourist destinations such as Leh, Shimla, Kullu, Dharamshala, and New Delhi via state-run and private buses. You should book your tickets mostly in AC Volvo coaches for affordable travel to Manali . They are also more comfortable than regular buses, especially when you know how far Manali is from most Indian cities.
By Road/Self Drive: The drive up to Manali is phenomenal! Almost every turn on the twisty uphill road provides a scenic view of the surrounding hills and valleys. Though many tourists prefer to drive up to Manali, it is best to hire a taxi if you are uncomfortable going in mountainous areas.
By Train: The nearest railway station to Manali is Jogindernagar, connecting the hill station to several important cities. Trains from Chandigarh and Ambala can also take you to Manali. Taxis and buses are available as well at reasonable prices from the railheads.

Every Manali trip budget travel guide will tell you to stay in hostels if you’re travelling alone, and you will have a fantastic time. The hostel will cost you approximately INR 1800 – Rs.2500 ($25 – $35) per person for 3-5 nights.
You can stay in Manali, both hostels and hotels; such a room is less expensive than two bunk beds in a hostel/hotel. Regarding pricing, two bunk beds must cost around Rs.3600 – Rs.5000 ($50 – $56) for 5 nights, while a private room might also cost about Rs.4000 – Rs.5000 ($56 – $70). Booking a private room instead of two hostel bunk beds makes much more sense. The five-night per-person cost would be Rs.2000 – Rs.2500 ($28 – $35). You can calculate the prices accordingly if you want to take a shorter trip.
Hostels are a big no-no for the groups. Most hostels do not allow groups; if they do, they will not offer you 5 bunk beds in the same room. When going to travel in a group, always stay in a hostel. If you have a group of 5, two rooms will cost you around Rs.9000 – Rs.12000 ($126 – $168) for five nights. The cost per person would be approximately Rs.1800 – Rs.2400 ($25 – $33) for an affordable stay in Manali for groups.

"Kasol is a second home for a traveler in India! Green, chill, smoke & lost"
Kasol is a small town on the banks of Parvati River in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. It is situated at roughly 35 KMs from Bhuntar on the Manikaran road. It is famous as one of the coolest tourist destination among young travellers, hikers, nature and photography lovers. Once a sleepy village lying on the way to Manikaran, Kasol is now a huge destination for backpackers and travellers from around the globe. Kasol is also known as mini-Israel and the Amsterdam of India because of a great number of foreigners and Israel visitors. After months of immaculate planning by a group of childhood friends, we finally set out to experience the enigma of Kasol in one of the most epic road-trips ever. Being the perfect holiday destinations for groups of close friends, the trip to Kasol has been one of the best times we've spent together. Kasol is paradise for photography lovers and, the nearby town of Manikaran is a famous destination for family trips. Also, trekking and mountain lovers will definitely fall in love with Kasol, as it acts as a base camp for a variety of treks. Thus, this place offers something to almost every type of traveller.
The journey kick-started with Delhi chosen as the point of origination towards the Himalayan village of Kasol. Couple of friends flew down from KIA Bangalore while the rest took the help of the Indian railways to reach the point of meet-up. The journey from Delhi/Noida to Kasol is a 500+ km drive on NH44 via Kurukshetra – Ambala – Bilaspur – Mandi – Bhuntar. The arduous 12 hour+ drive across hilly terrains was both exciting as well as nerve wracking to say the least. With our enthusiasm bubbling over, JBL speakers bursting Nucleya songs and euphoria towards reaching our destination, we initiated our journey at 5:30 PM in the evening. After having successfully crawled our way out of the Delhi traffic, we stopped for dinner at a dhaba for some sumptuous food before continuing our overnight journey.
The nearest airport to Kasol is Bhuntar Airport, which is 35 Kms from Kasol. From Bhuntar, one can either board a Bus towards Manikaran and get off at Kasol which is 5 kms before Manikaran. Another option is to take a Taxi from Bhuntar.
The nearest Railway Station to Kasol is Joginder Nagar railway station, which is 144 kms away.
The most recommended way to reach Kasol from Delhi or Chandigarh would be to go by road in taxi or a personal vehicle. This way you would enjoy the complete sightseeing on the way, including the AUT Tunnel which is approx 2.8 KMs long.
We chose option 3 of a personal hired vehicle from Delhi. Wading through the night skies, inching closer to the Himalayas with enough caution and prejudice, I must admit the skill of the person behind the wheels of our Innova was immaculate. With breaks in between, time flew and before we knew it we were staring right at sunrise. It had been almost 11 hours we were travelling and making our way towards our destination. At the first light of the sun showed its face over the hills, we were mesmerized by the beauty of the landscape surrounding us.
There is only one ATM in Kasol, which is mostly out of cash. Apart from Kasol there is one ATM in Manikaran and one in Jari also. However, it is advisable to withdraw all the cash you might need in Bhuntar itself.
The budget stay options provides a better connection to nature than Luxury Hotels in Kasol. No doubt the few available Luxury Hotels in Kasol have good rooms, but there are some small properties that are way closer to nature.
Try not to possess any illegal drugs, weed or hash as that might get you in trouble with the authorities.
Please do not litter and help keeping the Himalayas clean.
Respect the loving locals and have fun!
A 12 hour journey had indeed worn us out but the enchanting views of river Parvati, lush greenery and the ever narrowing roads leading to Kasol village had brightened our spirits. We had chosen to stay at a nature resort, “ Parvati Kuteer ” and make it the base of all our travels. A quaint home-stay with log huts and wooden cottages hidden away close to the banks of the river Parvati and amidst dense Deoder forests. A pathway to the banks of the river gushing below was our favorite escapade. The home-stay was located just 7 km from the famous pilgrimage site of Manikaran and a mere walking distance from the Kasol village. Having checked in, we treated ourselves to some piping hot maggi and settled in. The end of Day 2 was spent exploring the Kasol market and the various Israeli joints, German bakeries and the cafes. A sumptuous dinner later, we retired for the night in the comfort of our homestay!
Spending your holiday in Kasol village is also a journey in itself. These are some of the things to do in Kasol:
Try Israeli food in Kasol: There are a lot of restaurants/Café in Kasol like the Jim morrison café, Stone garden Café, Evergreen Café, Sunshine Cafe (just to name a few)
Shopping: For all the shopaholics Kasol presents a little different experience than the rest of Himachal. The local market is full of winter clothing having a hippy flavour.
Visit Manikaran Sahib Gurudwara: Manikaran is just 5 Kms away from Kasol. One can board a bus from Kasol to Manikaran or take a cab/taxi from Kasol market.
A Visit to Malana Village: A visit to Malana is a must if you want to experience multiculturalism at it’s best in Himachal. Titled as the “World’s Oldest Democracy, Malana is the home to the descendants of “Alexander The Great’s” Army (as per the locals).
Chalal Trek Trail: Just 30 Minutes walk from Kasol, Chalal is a beautiful village famous for the trance parties and serene nature. While in Kasol take a walk to Chalal and enjoy a cup of tea there.
Visit the other surrounding villages: You can visit the surrounding villages like Rashol, Tosh, Kalga and many others where you will be welcomed with great hospitality by the sweet local people. A great way to understand a culture is to experience it.
Relax on the Parvati riverbank: A cup of tea, a bowl of maggi, a book in hand and the gushing sound of the Parvati river sound like a perfect holiday in the mountains. While in Kasol you can easily sit near the riverbank and enjoy the beauty of Himalayas.
Kasol, a small village situated 5 km from Manikaran in the Parvati valley is a hub for backpackers who are attracted to the scenic village, untouched hills, low population and great climate throughtout the year. Kasol is also the base for a host of trekking activities to Sar pass, Yanker pass, Pin Parbati pass & the famous Kheerganga trek. Kasol is also home to the herbal drug Charas – which is one of the most significant attractions to draw tourists from far and beyond. Excited about the opportunities that lay ahead, we made our way to Kheerganga. Perched at an altitude of nearly 3000 meters, the trek originates from Barshaini – a small town host to the last motor-able road in the valley. The trekking distance to Kheerganga is around 9-10 kms which takes around 3.5 – 4 hours for a person with average trekking speed. The most relevant route being Barshaini – Nakthan – Kheerganga. However, if you want to do a day trek, it is advisable to reach early to make it in time.
Ineffective time management cost us the trek to Kheerganga. However, we still managed to trek for around 3 hours and make the most out of the serene surroundings while interacting with fellow hikers. The sound of the Parvati river rushing through the gorges is like music to the ears. On our way back, we stopped to pay a visit at Manikaran Sahib – a place of pilgrimage for the Hindus and Sikhs, famous for its hot springs. We returned exhausted from the day outing and decided to satisfy our hunger needs in the cosy cafe nested in Kasol village – Cafe Sunshine! Pro Tip: Have a shot at the 'special cigarette'!
Manali – the high altitude Himalayan resort town in Himachal Pradesh is one of the best tourist destinations. Set on the Beas river, it is the gateway for backpacking & skiing in the Solang valley and jumping-off point for a host of activities like paragliding, rafting and mountaineering in the Pir Panjal mountains. A 75 km drive from our home-stay at Kasol and gate-way to the Rohtang Pass – we decided to head out towards the town of Manali. We headed straight for the Solang valley – one of the most gorgeous and adventurous places to visit in Manali. Lush green valleys surrounded by snow capped mountains welcomed us as we stepped out to welcome the surroundings.
The Solang Nalah – A side valley at the top of the Kullu valley in Himachal is the gateway to the Rohtang pass. Even though the Rohtang pass was officially open to public, the work on clearing the ice and paving out the roads were still ongoing due to which we had to give it a miss. However, we did decide to try the ropeway at the Solang Valley for an unforgettable experience of the surroundings.
Kasol was magical. A walk by the gregarious Parvati river, roaming about the lanes of the village with the mighty Himalayas at the backdrop, the smell of the wild flowers and the winds whistling through the pine woods – it leaves you expecting much more. After a sumptuous breakfast, we started our downward journey towards the capital of Delhi, crossing a select few Hydro-electric plants along the Parvati river.
The 12 hour long journey ended at the IGI airport at Delhi at the wee hours of Day 6. With a bag full of memories and sights to behold, we took our flights back to the humdrum of city life. sure. Visit kasol. Check dm if you don't mind 😊. My 2 Rs. advice. Avoid Manali as it's too touristy anyway and takes a really long travel from Delhi. Out of 4 days you will be traveling for 1 day. Better go for places near Shimla like Chail, Mashobra etc. Travel time will be shorter and has a good connect with Nature.
