The adventure continues to Makole, a pristine snorkeling spot along the base of the Na Pali Coast, where you will experience a wonderful blue ocean snorkel complete with Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles and a vast array of beautiful reef fish. What to Expect

Our morning Coast Power Catamaran tour checks-in at the Kikiaola Boat Harbor. As we begin our journey toward the beautiful Na Pali Coast, you will have the opportunity to experience Hawaii’s amazing marine wildlife including dolphins, sea turtles, and in the right season – Humpback Whales!

Once we reach the coastline, our captains will amaze you as they take you up close to waterfalls and sea caves atthe base of Kauai’s 3,500 ft tall sea cliffs. You will hear about the amazing history of the Na Pali Coast, stopping at the best possible photo spots to capture this once in a lifetime experience. Once we have journeyed to the end of the 17 mile Na Pali Coast in our state of the art Power Catamaran, our adventure will continue to Makole, our pristine snorkeling spot along the base of the Na Pali Coast. You will experience a wonderful blue ocean snorkel complete with Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles (Honu) and a vast array of beautiful reef fish.

We provide drinks and light snacks along with quality snorkeling gear.

“Marina A” is the Fastest “Large Scale” Catamaran that departs from Kikiaola Boat Harbor, The closest boat harbor to the Na Pali Coast. Measuring 48 feet in length, with 4 monstrous Yamaha Engines, our vessel provides 1,000 horsepower and cruising speeds of 30 knots. Our Vessel features two FULL sized restrooms, a fresh water shower, padded seats with handle bars, a shade canopy, a front bow viewing deck and Kaua’i’s best Captains & Crew.

The Captains are Coast Guard certified, local and practice a strict safety protocol. They have over 20 years experience and unsurpassed knowledge of the Na Pali Coast including the best boating routes to get our passengers to the snorkel site.

Cancellation Policy

Customers will receive a full refund with 48 hours notice of cancellation and private charters will receive a full refund with at least 72 hours notice of cancellation. Customers will also receive a full refund in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Contact us by phone to cancel or inquire about a cancellation. No shows will be charged the full price. We require a minimum number of participants and we will contact you within 24 hours if we need to reschedule.

"The 35’ Deluxe Catamaran “Cadillac of the Caves” was AMAZING! Do not miss this when you’re in Kauai. Brian and Capt. Nate were fun, kind, knowledgeable, patient…all the things. They personally made sure every single person was comfortable and having fun the whole time. They shared tons of knowledge about Kauai and the Napali coast, played music, made us laugh, and were obviously capable and at ease on the ocean. The deluxe catamaran was big enough to be comfortable, but small enough to fit in caves and be an exciting ride. My husband and 7 year old sat in bench seats in the middle of the boat, while my 10 year old and I rode up front for a more exciting ride. We stopped to snorkel and they provided good equipment. They also put out snacks and drinks while we were in the water. They made sure everyone had enough time in the water and didn’t feel rushed back. Our family all took Dramamine the night before and again about an hour before we got on the boat, and we all felt fine the whole time. Do take similar precautions if you’re at all worried about sea sickness. I cannot recommend this company and experience highly enough. It was one of my favorite days ever! It was the experience of a lifetime to take in the gorgeous scenery in such a fun and exciting way. The experience and memories are worth the price. Book it!

This tour is also called our “Photo Favorite Tour” due to the tremendous photo opportunities during this time of the day, with the Na Pali Coast facing west into the sunlight.

Our catamaran boat tours take you along the Na Pali coast with ease! 

The Afternoon Na Pali Tour starts with Check-in is from 12:00-12:30pm for tours departing at 12:45pm. Check-in is from 12:30-1:00pm for tours departing at 1:15pm.

Snorkeling equipment and floatation devices are provided, as well as a waterproof dry-bag.

Please note that we do not guarantee snorkeling or entrance into sea caves. Our goal is always to provide the best tour possible, given the day’s weather and ocean conditions. Safety is priority #1.

This tour is not suited for Expecting Mothers, those with bad backs, shoulders, knees, or hips, anyone who has recently undergone any surgeries, and those with mobility limitations. All passengers must be suited for possible rough waters and able to hold on and move about the vessel without concern. Children must be over the age of 3 years old. Sorry, no smoking is permitted on the vessel, on the pier or near the office per state law.

Ren was an amazing captain and we had a blast on this trip. We had everything from pouring rain, wind, fog and sun. The crew made the entire trip fun and comfortable. The Ná Pali Coast was magical and because we were in a zodiac with a skilled captain, we were able to get in close, even tucking into one of the caves (quite a feat in January!). We did not get to snorkel due to the wind but we did get up close to dolphins and humpback whales. I would highly recommend Ren and her mate if you want adventure along the Na’ Pali Coast. If you do book this excursion, don’t forget to tip the captain! These are highly skilled people.

Passenger safety is our top priority. No Expecting Mothers, those with bad backs, shoulders, knees, or hips, anyone who has recently undergone any surgeries, and those with mobility limitations. All passengers must be suited for possible rough waters and able to hold on and move about the vessel without concern. Children must be over the age of 3 years old. Maximum weight limit of 300 lbs per person may not be exceeded. Sorry, there is no smoking permitted on the vessel, on the pier, or near the office per state law. All activities are conditions permitting with the Captain’s discretion. The Nā Pali Coast is not a guarantee. Tours may reroute due to ocean conditions. If you are prone to seasickness or not sure, PLEASE take something in advance, Bonine or Dramamine.  Everyone is different…Don’t hesitate, medicate!

All snorkeling passengers will be required to have the upper body strength to pull themselves out of the water with a small marine ladder. Passengers who exceed 250 pounds are more at risk if a snorkeling incident occurs. Crew members may have difficulty getting said passengers back onboard.

To modify, reschedule, or cancel ANY tour and receive a full refund, YOU MUST CALL KST at 808-335-5309 within the following timeframes:

• 24 Hours prior to tour check-in for parties of 1-4 passengers;
• 72 Hours prior to tour check-in for parties of 5-9 passengers;
• 7 Days prior to tour check-in for parties of 10 and more passengers;
• 30 Days prior to tour check-in for Exclusive Private Charters.

No shows are charged 100%.  No refunds for non-disclosures of health concerns, re-routes, non-snorkel or sea sickness. Everything is conditions permitting with the Captain’s discretion.

As we begin our journey toward the beautiful Na Pali Coast, you will have the opportunity to experience Hawaii’s amazing marine wildlife including dolphins, sea turtles, and in the right season – Humpback Whales!

Once we reach the coastline, our captains will amaze you as they take you up close to waterfalls and sea caves atthe base of Kauai’s 3,500 ft tall sea cliffs. You will hear about the amazing history of the Na Pali Coast, stopping at the best possible photo spots to capture this once in a lifetime experience. Once we have journeyed to the end of the 17 mile Na Pali Coast in our state of the art Power Catamaran, our adventure will continue to Makole, our pristine snorkeling spot along the base of the Na Pali Coast. You will experience a wonderful blue ocean snorkel complete with Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles (Honu) and a vast array of beautiful reef fish.

Space is Limited as we keep our groups small. Non-snorkelers are welcome on the trip, but there is no reduced ticket price if you choose not to snorkel.

Na Pali Catamaran

This Na Pali Coast Power Catamaran Tour is a high speed vessel that cuts through waves and allows for the most stability for our customers. Our 48-foot Catamaran “Marina A” Is high bridged allowing our guests to feel less motion from waves than catamarans lower to the surface of the ocean.

This is an adventure. Ocean conditions can vary and may turn rough at times. It may not be suitable for some folks (all physically challenged individuals are subject to captain’s discretion). Not recommended for individuals who have/had back problems, recent injuries or surgeries, or suffer from severe motion sickness (no refunds are given for seasickness). Seasickness is best prevented with an over-the-counter remedy. No expectant mothers. Children must be 5 years or older. All tour routes and destinations are subject to change without notice. Ocean conditions can and will sometimes turn rough. Snorkeling depends on ocean conditions. Cancelled tours by Holo Holo Charters are fully refundable or gladly rescheduled. “No shows” or any cancellation within 24-hours of check-in time is subject to a 100% charge of the total fare including tax. We are not responsible for lost, damaged or stolen items. We reserve the right to refuse service. We do not land on shore. Non-swimmers are not allowed in the water. Full-face snorkel masks are not allowed; guests are required to use traditional two-piece snorkel and mask sets. If you do not have your prescribed medication with you, i.e. Inhalers, EpiPens, diabetic medication and/or any other daily medications, you must reschedule your tour for another day. No smoking of any kind, including electronic cigarettes. You should bring your own towels, sunscreen, a light jacket and a camera. We will provide everything else. All tours are “Bare-Foot”. Passengers will remove their shoes prior to boarding. Only orthopedic/diabetic exceptions will be made at captain’s direction. Alcohol will be served only after snorkeling on applicable tours. If passenger will be consuming alcoholic beverages an ID will be required on the vessel. No coolers or drones/unmanned aircraft allowed on-board. Spray-on/aerosol sunscreen is a safety hazard and may not be used on-board the vessel. We encourage using reef-friendly sunscreens. Our vessels are equipped with sensitive marine heads (toilets) that clog easily. Do not flush anything other than what your body produces and the toilet paper we provide. Please use Holo Holo parking lot only or your car will be towed. Hanalei Departures: Due to vessel transfers, guests should be prepared to wade in the water and be able to assist themselves onto vessel. Holo Holo Charters – COVID-19 Guest Policies

Guests are required to complete a digital health waiver as well as a COVID-19 health screening prior to proceeding on tour. If you or any member of your party have had symptoms related to COVID-19 including sore throat, cough, fever, shortness of breath, etc. we request that you stay home and seek medical care. Please sanitize your hands prior to entering our office and prior to boarding our vessel. Wash or sanitize your hands frequently. Please follow social distancing guidelines at all times. Maintain a distance of 6 feet between yourself and other guests who are not a part of your family/group whenever possible. Please cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing.

Cancellation Policy

If you do not show up for your tour you forfeit your money and there are no refunds.

If you call 48 hours in advance and need to cancel or move your tour we will do our best to reschedule your tour date and time. If we are unable to find a date or time that works we will refund your money within 90 days.

If the minimum number of passengers (which is 6) are not registered within 24 of the tour it could be canceled. You will be contacted at that time and either attempt to rescheduled, if the tour cannot be rescheduled you will be given a full refund (within 90 days).

Weather Policy: Activity may be cancelled due to severe weather. The activity usually runs in light rain and other moderate weather conditions, we may cancel the activity up to an hour before the start time in the event of severe or unsafe weather conditions. If we cancel the event, ticket-holders will be allowed to reschedule tickets (subject to availability) if no reschedule tour is available the funds will be refunded within 3-10 business days.

What is the South Shore reroute?

The south shore is home to beautiful reefs that provide a home for some 200 or so indigenous Hawaiian marine species. You will have the opportunity to spot wonderful coral reefs, colorful reef fish, sea turtles, dolphins, and much more!

What types of marine life will we see?

Can we touch the animals.

We maintain a respectful distance from humpback whales and follow all state and federal requirements. All other marine life we get you as close as possible and in the water with them when it makes sense. Our goal is to allow you to be as close as possible. We let tourists swim with them ... the only thing you are not allowed to do is harass them via chasing them, cornering them, or touching them. Our captain's put you in the direct path of the sea life and were they are swimming and having you get in the water is common place and very exciting because more often then not the spinners will interact with the snorkelers and swim under and around them.

Is the snorkeling gear provided? Can I bring my own?

Yes, all of the gear is included in the price of your ticket. You are welcome to bring your own equipment, but there will be no discount on the ticket price. If you would like to bring your own gear, Blue Ocean Adventure Tours can supplement what you may need and we always carry on board spare masks and snorkels.

How long will we be in the water?

We spend more time in the water than other boats on the island. Again we let nature rule the show, but will often spend 45 minutes or more at each snorkel site.

What should I wear/bring?

We recommend wearing a bathing suit with a couple of extra layers on for the ride over to the snorkeling or whale watching sites. We provide a dry bag for your personal belongings; just bring whatever you would need at the beach! Don’t forget a towel, sunglasses, a hat and sunscreen!

Do I need to know how to swim?

It is recommended that you have the desire to float and view marine life, we cannot create the desire to snorkel. Relaxing is the most important snorkel tip of all time!   You will also have personalized instruction in the water.

Is there public parking available at the meeting place?

Yes, parking is available at the meeting location, on the right hand side of the main road by the coconut trees.

Captain Steve and his co-captain (blanking on her name but she was awesome) were fantastic tour guides. He took us through sea caves and gave us a taste of the Na Pali "Rollercoaster Ride." The snorkeling was awesome too! We went during a time when Kuhio highway to Hanalei was under construction due to a landslide a few months prior and there was a limited amount of time to get into the area. Overall rating

Our Makana tour with Capt Mike, Lionel and his brother was AMAZING. The crew was friendly, energetic, full of historical facts and catered to every person's needs. The boat was sturdy and powered across the Pacific with ... ease and no one got seasick In fact, it was almost like a roller coaster ride at times and so much fun. We had the perfect "winter summer day" with great conditions for snorkeling, going inside a sea cave and heading close to shore. We highly recommend this tour and will absolutely do it again when we return. It was the best part of our vacation and we loved every minute!

The boat was one of the best we saw out on the water and made us very happy with our choice of charter. The views were spectacular and the snorkeling was an added cherry on top. Will definitely recommend to others.
