Altitude is defined as 300m/1000ft above sea level. This includes going to the Atherton Tablelands (a popular local scenic attraction), so please be aware if booking tours to follow your dive trip. Under normal circumstances, you should be out of the water on your last dive at 12pm (midday).

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

  • Every day each car in  Moscow metro passes  more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
  • Moscow subway system is the  5th in the intensity  of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).

Miles Russell bogeys final hole to fall below the cut line in Korn Ferry Tour event in Texas

Miles Russell appears to have missed the chance to make his second Korn Ferry Tour cut in a row.

Russell, the 15-year-old Jacksonville Beach native, shot 70 on Friday in the second round of the Veritex Bank Championship at the Texas Rangers Golf Club but bogeyed the par-5 ninth hole to slip one shot below the cut line of 5-under. He finished at 4-under 138 and shot his sixth under-par round in a row in a professional tournament.

Russell, who birdied Nos. 7 and 8 on putts of 3 and 34 feet to get inside the cut line, hit his second shot into a water hazard on the right-front of the green, dropped, hit his fourth shot to within 10 feet and missed the par attempt.

Thunderstorms suspended play

Play was suspended for two hours because of a storm cell passing through the area. At the time of the suspension, Russell was 1-over through six holes and 10 shots behind leader Frankie Capan III, who shot 58 in the first round.

The cut won't be official until the second round concludes on Saturday morning. The final group wasn't able to tee off until 5:43 p.m. local time.

When play resumed following the delay, Russell bogeyed No. 16 after hitting his tee shot into a penalty area and he made two pars to turn at 1-over for the day and 2-under for the tournament.

However, he rebounded with birdies at Nos. 1 and 3 (wrapped around a bogey at No. 3) and gave himself a chance with his birdies at Nos. 7 and 8.

Russell was spot-in with ball striking in first round

In Thursday’s first round, Russell was near top form with his ball striking. He tied for first in the field by hitting 13 of 14 fairways and hit 16 of 18 greens to tie for eighth in the field.

He parred his first eight holes before breaking the ice with a 7-foot birdie putt at No. 9. Russell followed with a 29-foot birdie putt at No. 11, a 13-footer for birdie at No. 12 and a 7-footer for birdie at No. 16 after coming up just short and right of the driveable par-4 with a 323-yard clout off the tee.

He chipped onto the green from 68 feet away to set up his birdie.

Russell became the youngest player in history to make the cut at a Korn Ferry Tour event in last week’s LECOM Suncoast Open in Lakewood Ranch, then became the youngest in a PGA Tour-sanctioned event to finish among the top-20.

That earned him a spot in the Veritex Championship under the Korn Ferry rule of giving players who finish among the top-25 a spot in the next week’s tournament.

Russell shot his sixth consecutive under-par round in professional events over the past two months, a streak that began when he had a 67 in a Monday qualifier for the PGA Tour's Puerto Rico Open. Russell lost in a four-for-one playoff to get into the main draw of the tournament.

In last week's LECOM Suncoast Open, he shot 14-under 270, with rounds of 68-66-70-66.

Russell's scoring average in those pro tournaments is 67.85.

BYD teases bold Ocean-M electric car powered by its new EV platform

Avatar for Peter Johnson

Another fully electric BYD vehicle is set to debut this week. Ahead of its official reveal, BYD is teasing the upcoming Ocean-M electric car, which will be based on its new EV platform.

BYD previews new Ocean-M EV ahead of its debut

BYD is on a roll lately. Although Tesla took back its title as the top-selling EV maker in Q1, BYD is launching new models at lightning speed.

Best known for its low-cost EVs like the Dolphin and Seagull, with updated models starting at $13,900 (99,800 yuan) and $9,700 (69,800 yuan), respectively, BYD is expanding into new territory.

BYD is launching new luxury models, mid-size electric EVs, and don’t forget all-electric supercars. Although many pin BYD against Tesla, the automaker sees gas-powered vehicles as its main competitor.

China’s EV leader declared a “liberation battle” against ICE vehicles earlier this year, launching a series of lower-price versions of its best-selling EVs.

BYD believes new energy vehicles (EVs and PHEVs) have already entered the “knockout round” but expects the momentum to accelerate over the next few years with better tech and lower prices.

BYD-Ocean-M

Its latest EV, the Ocean-M, is being previewed as a cornerstone for the design of future EV models.

BYD announced the Ocean-M on social media, saying it would be based on a new pure electric platform.

According to BYD, it will be the first electric performance hatchback with rear-wheel drive. It will officially debut at the Beijing Auto Show starting April 25.

BYD-Ocean-M

BYD also revealed the luxurious interior of its new Sea Lion 07 mid-size electric SUV. It’s expected to compete in Tesla’s best-selling Model Y segment.

China’s largest EV maker sold 300,114 fully electric vehicles in the first three months of 2024, up 13.4% YOY. Meanwhile, NEV sales (including PHEVs) reached 626,263, up 13.4% compared to last year as BYD expands into new markets.

Check back tomorrow for more details on BYD’s Ocean-M and new EV platform. Update: You can see the new BYD Ocean-M here .
