My son said this was better than a Disney cruise...nuff said! The pirates were so engaging and kept the kids entertained for the whole cruise. Parents got to chat with other adults while enjoying drinks and views. Must do in Clearwater area!

Captain Memo is a Fantastic choice for anyone's birthday party! Great crew and entertainment!

I was seriously skeptical about how hokey this would be but these guys have it all figured out. They have an open bar and a deck for adults only. Once you set sail, they get the kids' activities going and encourage you to enjoy yourselves and that we did. We had too much wine and beer and the kids had an absolutely blast. We even got to be part of the character dress up fun. Highly recommend.

WHAT A CANNON FUN!!! Y'ALL GOTTA GET ON THAT SHIP!!! Admission is pretty affordable like $44 but hey, they give you complimentary wine or beer for 2 hours! Thats hella worth of money! Prices is affordable for junior/child age. Staff is totally FRIENDLY. I would recommend y'all to call 'em to check if can rsvp on same day. It is good idea, really. Trust me. Their schedule: 10am, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm & last ride is 8pm (I think). Check their website. Introducing wrenches & buccaneers to families are really coolest. Ship is pretty cool & big enough for like 10 families. Staff makes sure kids get tons of fun like water gun fight, chair music, dance, and games so they can let their parents to chill/laugh, watch 'em, & drink beer or wine. Thats totally rad. Everything is so CLEAN. Yes, even restrooms are CLEAN. They keep everything so sparky clean. They do sell chips, candies, snacks & drinks. Umm, oh, they give free book about Cap Memo history. Thats cool. I took it & plan to read. 2 HOURS OF FUN TIME.

Worth the money!! This was the most fun we had as a family on our trip- the kids were below deck doing pirate games and hunting treasure, and we were up top sipping drinks and enjoying the scene- simple fun!

Absolutely fantastic! If you have young kids, this is a must. The staff was engaging and there were activities the whole time for the kids. My son left, exhausted and smiling. thumbs up for this salty crew!

This was a great time! Beer and wine were included. Stafc was lively and great entertainment for kids and families. You go out to the gulf and back and forth in the causeway. For the money, it was well worth it for a 2 hour cruise.

We did the sunset cruise and let me tell you this cruise NEVER disappoints. I have done this cruise many different times. Captain Memo's is just straight up fun! My families favorite thing to do when we visit CWB. The crew really keeps the kids entertained and engaged the whole cruise. I can't say enough about the crew...those guys/gals are awesome. Face painting, water gun fights, games, and dancing. It's a good time! Not to mention unlimited wine, beer, and soft drinks. Music playing the whole time you're on the water. Sunset views and dolphin views are also an added bonus. Don't sleep on this!

I don't know how anyone could go on this pirate cruise and not give it five stars. Our party consisted of myself, my husband, our 20 year old daughter, my 73 year old sister, my 70 year old sister, my niece, who is 36 and her two little children who were six and three. We had the best time. They entertain your kids for the whole to our cruise and they cruise around. We saw dolphins, jumping out of the water. The breeze felt fantastic. Everybody on board that worked. There were super super nice. The bar was amazing. We went on the 9 o'clock cruise and we had the best rum punch I've ever had in my life. It's like a babysitting job they do for you while you can get drunk or feel good about yourself for a while. Or you can drink soda or water they have freebies on board. You're allowed all the way up where the captain drives the boat and it's just really really cool. I would tell anyone to do this. The Pirates are amazingly funny and keep you entertained adults and children alike. We will definitely be doing this again the next time we visit Clearwater we had so much fun on the ship even if we didn't have kids with us but the kids had a blast and they got to dress up even us adults all got tattoos on our arms. It was just a fun time had by all I would highly highly recommend this!!!!

Know before you book

• ID is required for adults aged 21+ in order to receive beer and wine onboard the Pirate Cruise. Otherwise soft drinks will be served.
• Please be ready at the chosen pick up location 10 minutes prior to the scheduled pick up time.
• Pick ups are scheduled on a route starting at 8am until 9am around Orlando, Disney and Kissimmee.
• For the least time on the tour vehicle, be sure to schedule your pick up at the Maingate Lakeside Resort as that's the last pick up location.

What you can expect

Leaving Central Florida in the morning we travel over to West Coast of Florida, arriving in Clearwater Beach late morning.

Upon arrival the tour escort will provide you the Pirate Cruise tickets, and show you where in the marina you board the boat.

Before your boat ride you will have time to enjoy the beach!

Clearwater Beach has been voted the USAs top beach as it is has a wide stretch of almost white very fine sand, and the Gulf of Mexico is a unique shade of turquoise blue with conditions that are very often ideal for swimming. Be sure to bring beach wear to relax on the beach, and take a dip in the water. Maybe you would enjoy to take a stroll along Pier 60, this 1000 foot pier jets out into the Gulf and taking a walk along it is a great way to take in some sea air and see beach views.

If you select the option that includes lunch - during the lunch time hours, when you are ready, you can visit the restaurant, situated in the marina with views of the water. A gift card valued at 20 dollars per adult and 10 dollars per child will be provided for you to enjoy lunch at an award winning beach area restaurant.

Then the highlight of your day is the Captain Memo’s Pirate Ship Cruise. As we embark on our journey, soak up the sun and revel in the scenic views of Clearwater as we comb the horizon in search of dolphins. Get lost in the pirate antics during our two hour odyssey including a treasure hunt, face painting, water gun games, stories and dancing for all ages. Set your course with the cool reggae island & steel band music playing throughout the rigging of the Pirate’s Ransom. You will be able to choose from a range of soft drinks, beer, wine, or champagne included in the tour. You can search for dolphins while aboard and relax or get involved with the pirates and the fun games. This boat ride is awesome for families as the children are entertained throughout the entire boat ride.

We leave back to Orlando between 4 - 5pm. (dependent on the time we arrived at the beach) and arrival time back to Orlando is traffic dependent.

If you have ever been to Clearwater Beach, chances are you have seen Captain Memo’s bright red pirate ship sail by.

For the past 40+ years, Captain Memo’s Pirate Ship has been docked at the Clearwater Beach Marina when it is not sailing through the inner coastal waterway to the Gulf of Mexico.

What to Expect on Captain Memo’s Pirate Ship

Clearwater beach marina.

Captain Memo’s Pirate Ship is docked at the Clearwater Beach Marina, off of Coronado Drive. Their official address (25 Causeway Blvd, Clearwater Beach, Florida 33767) leads to parking at the marina.

While parking is available at the marina, it is likely easier for those staying on Clearwater Beach to walk to the marina or take the Jolley Trolley.

From the mainland, visitors can take the ferry to the marina. Parking is free on the mainland.

Lanie’s Pro Tip: Only park at the marina if you need to, and get there with plenty of time to search for a parking spot. Parking spots are limited.

Parking at the Marina

Guests need to check in at Captain Memo’s Pirate Ship counter an hour before their ship is set to sail.

While there is a shop and a few restaurants at the Marina, guests tend to wait near the pirate ship to be there in time for boarding.

Parking is available at the Marina. Ticket holders will be given a special code, which changes daily, to extend their parking time, at the rate of $1 an hour.

Boarding Captain Memo’s Pirate Cruise

Before guests are allowed to board, the crew stands at the front of the ship to announce the rules.

Everyone is given a name tag at check-in so that the crew knows you are on the ship. Kids are given a paper pirate hat right before boarding.

Each group has a photograph taken. The photos can later be purchased on board.

Complimentary soda, beer, and wine are available as you board the boat. Additional drinks and snacks are available for purchase on board. Additional drinks are brought to you throughout the cruise, or you can go back to the bar.

Seating is available in a few different sections, though there are limits on how many people can sit in one area, so if there is somewhere you want to sit, try to be one of the first people in line.

We opted to sit at the front of the ship, which has a limit of 11. Our group filled up the entire section.

There are 4 sections with seating, though the back of the boat is for adults only. That deck is the only place where smoking is allowed.

Lanie’s Pro Tip : If you want a specific seat, be the first to board. Not only does this mean arriving early for check-in, but stand next to the dock entrance.

Activities for Kids on Captain Memo’s Pirate Ship

Though adults also have fun on board Captain Memo’s Pirate Ship, the activities are aimed at kids.

Everyone sits with their family at the beginning of the cruise, though quickly the children’s activities begin. Adults are welcome to stay with their kids, though they do not have to.

I have no idea what the kids do first as both times that I have ridden on Captain Memo’s Pirate Ship I have remained seated while they take the kids.

All I know is a few minutes later, the kids come out to the main deck with water guns.

Scavenger Hunt and Finding Treasure

The kids go straight from the water guns to learning about a scavenger hunt that will lead to the treasure.

The crew leads the kids around the boat and they find gold coins on the ground.

While the kids were playing, one of the crew members came around and offered to paint faces. The kids also have an opportunity to get their faces painted.

Anyone who does not want their face painted can have their hand painted, or nothing at all.

Cannon Shot

The kids are told a story about Black Beard, and then a tiny cannon is shot and aimed at Black Beard’s ghost.

Musical Chairs

A game of musical chairs is played and the winner receives a temporary tattoo and a keychain.

At the end of the cruise, there is dancing. Both kids and adults can participate in the dancing.

Music is played throughout the cruise, but it is turned up at the end and the main deck is cleared for dancing.

Captain Memo’s Pirate Cruise is approximately 2 hours long.

Complimentary beer, wine, and soda are available on board. Additional drinks can be purchased at the bar. Snacks, such as chips are available to purchase at the bar.

It really depends on your kid, but I have been there with a kid as young as 5 and a kid up to 10 who enjoyed participating in most of the kid-friendly events onboard the cruise. While some tweens and teens love participating, it is not always the case. The tween in our group seemed to enjoy the boat ride but did not join in on any of the pirate fun.

Captain Memo’s Pirate Cruise Review

Though I grew up in Clearwater and was well aware of Captain Memo’s Pirate Ship (as is everyone who visits Clearwater), I never climbed aboard until my oldest was born.

We first rode on Captain Memo’s Pirate Cruise when friends visited us while we lived in Clearwater. My daughter was a baby, but they had kids who were 5 and 6.

This year, my parents gifted all of their kids and grandkids a ride on the pirate ship.

Though Captain Memo’s Pirate Cruise is more popular during spring break and the summer months, my family was in town over the holidays and after our cruise was postponed for maintenance, we rode in January.

We originally wanted to go on the day tour but had to change to the sunset cruise. While it was a bit chilly as the sun went down, we loved watching the sunset from the water.

Dolphins are often spotted near Clearwater Beach, though none were seen during our time on the Gulf of Mexico.

My kids were entertained throughout the family-friendly cruise and we appreciated the free drinks, though none of us had more than one.

The staff made an effort to include us in everything, from offering drinks to face paint, even though we were not in the main area of the boat. The crew is fantastic with the kids.

Whether you are visiting Clearwater Beach for the first time or have lived in the area your whole life, Captain Memo’s Pirate Ship is a fun way to spend a couple of hours.

Located at the end of the marina, Crabby’s Dockside is a family-friendly restaurant that specialized in seafood. The multi-level restaurant has lots of seating and offers beautiful sunset views.

On the second floor of the building on Clearwater Marina, Marina Cantina is a Mexican restaurant open for brunch on the weekends and dinner daily.

Marina Cantina has an indoor restaurant and a rooftop lounge.

Salt Cracker Fish Camp

Open for breakfast on the weekends and lunch and dinner daily, Salt Cracker Fish Camp is located on the ground level of the building on Clearwater Marina.

For those who have gone fishing, Salt Cracker Fish Camp will clean and cook your fish and serve it with fries and cole slaw.

Both indoor and outdoor seating is available at Salt Cracker Fish Camp.

Located at the far end of the dock, Bait House is open Tuesday through Sunday for lunch and dinner.

Can I change or cancel my order?

If you would like to book a trip for someone and you will not be present on the day of the activity, you must submit a Credit Card Authorization Form and a copy of your valid photo ID and credit card for verification.
