Dates Follow Upcoming October – November 2023 North America Tour

Already lined up for a spectacular North America 22-date concert run this fall, Sir Brian May, Roger Taylor and their exceptional front man, Grammy nominated Adam Lambert today announced  further Rhapsody Tour shows for 2024 with the news today of five mega dome concerts in Japan lined up for early February next year.

Promising an even more ambitious and  enhanced production of their universally acclaimed Rhapsody show,  the band will open a series of giant Japan show dates February 4 in Nagoya before going on to perform its reimagined Rhapsody show in Osaka (Feb 7), Sapporo (Feb 10) and concluding with two shows at the Tokyo Dome, (February 13 and 14) performing in all to over 200,000 concert-goers. The Sapporo show is a particularly historic one, marking the band’s first return to the city in over 42 years, last played by Queen on its Hot Space tour, October 29, 1982.

On making the announcement, Roger Taylor speaking alongside Brian May, said: “We are so excited to be returning to Japan, the country that has always held a special and most honoured place in our hearts.”  Taylor continues: “This may be the last time…who knows?  We promise to bring a very real spectacular for you to enjoy!”    Since their first arrival in Japan in April 1975 to scenes of fan mob mania, the bond between Queen and Japan has been richly woven into band history. Despite their absence on the touring circuit, Queen’s music continued to be treasured in Japan throughout the 90s and into the 21st Century, thanks in part to their inclusion in TV commercials and television dramas. Featured in a beer commercial, the band’s “I Was Born To Love You” reached No.1 on the singles chart.  Invited to return in 2014 – now fronted by Adam Lambert – to headline at Japan’s largest rock festival, Summer Sonic, Queen’s status as Japan’s favourite foreign band was reconfirmed.   Japan is now once again a regular feature on the touring schedule, Queen and Adam Lambert having returned as recently as 2020 to perform four massive sold-out shows playing to a combined audience of over 132,000 people across the country, clearly evident that the bond between Queen and Japan continues to remain as strong as ever.  An enthusiastic Adam Lambert says:  “The Japan shows back in 2020 were so much fun, the audience were incredible!  I am thrilled to have the opportunity to come back. Can’t wait!”

Queen + Adam Lambert’s career-spanning Rhapsody Tour setlist celebrates the band’s extraordinary back catalogue, lining up wall-to-wall immortal anthems like “We Will Rock You”, “Don’t Stop Me Now”, “Radio Ga Ga”, and “Somebody To Love” alongside classic deep cuts and vintage fan favourites. 映画「ボヘミアン・ラプソディ」(2018年)の世界的ヒットを受けて、2019年から続く“THE RHAPSODY TOUR”のアンコール公演的に、1年3か月ぶりに装いも新たにスタートした昨年秋の北米ツアー(10月から11月)に続いて実現したクイーン+アダム・ランバートの４年ぶりの来日公演。すでに名古屋、大阪のドームを回り、さる2月10日(土)の札幌公演では、今年でデビュー30周年を迎えた地元北海道出身の日本を代表するロック・バンド、GLAYをスペシャル・ゲストに迎え、2組のスーパーバンドの夢の競演が実現!!　そして、クイーンにとっては初の４大ドーム・ツアーのラストを飾る最後の東京ドーム2デイズ公演が13日(火)夜、開幕した。 クイーンにとっては初の東京ドーム公演となったこの日のステージも、伝説的なライヴ・エイドのステージでもおなじみの「RADIO GA GA」「ハマー・トゥ・フォール」を立て続けに演奏し、会場を埋め尽くした4万5千人の観客は総立ち。会場を埋め尽くした超満員のファンの熱狂的な声援にメンバーも発奮。最初の曲を終えたところで、アダムが「ハロー・トーキョー!!　ロックン・ロールする準備はいいか？」と観客をあおると、会場に集まった大観衆から大歓声が沸き起こり、その後、世界中で爆発的ヒットを記録した映画「ボヘミアン・ラプソディ」でも印象的に使われていた1978年のヒット曲「ファット・ボトムド・ガールズ」、全米NO.1に輝いた「地獄へ道づれ」、ロジャーが激しくドラムを叩きながら歌う「アイム・イン・ラヴ・ウィズ・マイ・カー」など、おなじみのヒット曲を連発。ギタリストのブライアン・メイが日本語で「一緒に歌ってください」と呼び掛けて、バック・スクリーンに映し出される今は亡きフレディ・マーキュリーと疑似共演するバラードの名曲「ラヴ・オブ・マイ・ライフ」のあと、再びブライアンが「次はみなさんのために若いころに書いた曲です」と紹介して、歌詞の一部が日本語で歌われる名曲「手をとりあって」、2004年の日本のテレビドラマ「プライド」の主題歌に使われて爆発的ヒットを記録した「ボーン・トゥ・ラヴ・ユー」といった、日本以外のステージでは演奏されない、クイーンが日本のファンの為だけに演奏してくれるお馴染みのヒット曲では、超満員の観客の大合唱が沸き起こりました。 その後も「リヴ・フォーエヴァー」、昨年の大みそかの紅白歌合戦に出場して披露した「ドント・ストップ・ミー・ナウ」、「ショウ・マスト・ゴー・オン」といったおなじみの名曲の数々を繰り出し、最後は映画のタイトルにもなった「ボヘミアン・ラプソディ」で、一度、メンバーはステージを去り、続いて在りし日のフレディのトレードマークとなったファンとのコール・アンド・レスポンスの映像による「AYO'S」のあと、名曲「ウィ・ウィル・ロック・ユー」が演奏され、さらに今回の日本公演のオープニング・ナンバーとなった1984年のアルバム『ザ・ワークス』からの「マシーン・ワールド」「RADIO GA GA」のメドレー形式のフィナーレ・ヴァージョンを挟んで、最後はクイーンの代名詞的な1977年のヒット曲「伝説のチャンピオン」でコンサートは終了。エンディングでおなじみの「ゴッド・セイヴ・ザ・クイーン」が流れ、この日も2時間を超える白熱のライヴの幕が降ろされた。 前日の12日(月)には完全オフで、ブライアンは富士山を訪れるなど、メンバーそれぞれがプライベートな時間を楽しんで臨んだこの日の初の東京ドーム公演、明日の最終公演後、現時点では今回の日本公演後のツアーの予定は発表されておらず、「これがクイーン最後のツアー」、「これがクイーン最後のステージ」とも噂されていますが、もしもそれが現実になったとしても、この日のライヴはまさに有終の美を飾るにふさわしい、実に圧巻の感動的なステージだった。

2024.2.5 Mon クイーン＋アダム・ランバートザ・ラプソディ・ツアー開幕！ 名古屋公演のライブ写真とレポートが到着！

ザ・ラプソディ・ツアーと題したクイーン＋アダム・ランバートのニュー・ツアーが、2月4日のバンテリンドーム ナゴヤを皮切りにスタート。初日となる名古屋公演のパフォーマンスは、まさにリヴィング・レジェンドによる壮大なロック美学を、余すことなく表現した2時間半(正確には2時間13分)だった。「マシーン・ワールド」からメドレー風にリンクさせて冒頭やショーの締めくくりで演奏されたおなじみの「RADIO GA GA」や、紅白歌合戦でも披露されて話題になった「ドント・ストップ・ミー・ナウ」を筆頭に、名曲やヒット曲30曲あまりを機関銃の如く披露して、これが夢なら醒めてほしくないぐらい楽しくて、時には涙が出てくるぐらいの感動的なステージだった。 バンテリンドーム ナゴヤは名古屋以外ではまだなじみが薄い呼称と思うが、元々親しまれていたナゴヤドームを命名権の関係で2021年から5年契約で新しい呼称にしたものである。前回のクイーンの名古屋公演(2020年1月30日)実施時はまだナゴヤドームと呼ばれていた。あれから丸4年ぶりの名古屋のステージとなるが、この間は世界を震撼させたコロナ禍の時期と重なる。その予兆を感じさせた前回の客席には嵐の前兆のようなピリピリした緊張感があったが、今回はコロナを克服してやっと我らのヒーローたちの凱旋が実現したようなホッとたような空気感があった。それだけに、4年ぶりのクイーン＋アダムの演奏や熱唱を目の前にしてオーディエンスの感情移入も半端ではなかった。地震で揺れるのは困るが、ずっとトーム内が人々の熱狂で揺れていた感じだった。 クイーンの音楽はハード・ロックを基軸にしながらファンクやR&B、ロカビリー、オペラなど様々な音楽表現を貪欲に取り入れているのが特徴で、そのヴァリエーションがロック・ミュージカル『ウィ・ウィル・ロック・ユー』誕生のヒントにもなったが、前回同様今回のツアーもドームという巨大なスペースを異次元の空間に仕立てて、一種の壮大なロック・オペラもしくはロック・ミュージカル的なショーに仕立てていた。「RADIO GA GA」のミュージック・ビデオにも映像が使用された伝説のSF映画『メトロポリス』(1927年)に登場するロボット、マリアがヴィジュアルの核になっていて、アルバム『世界に捧ぐ』(1977年)のジャケットを飾ったイラストのロボットや、『スター・ウォーズ』シリーズのC-3PO、『ターミネーター』のターミネーターなど映画でおなじみのキャラクターのイメージもシンクロさせ、さらにマルチスクリーンとレザーによるライティングを駆使してまさに一大ページェントになっていたのである。それは『シルク・ドゥ・ソレイユ』のようなアート的エンターテインメントともリンクする表現だ。宇宙空間に浮かんだ巨大な惑星に立ってギター・ソロを奏でるブライアン・メイは、まさに音楽の神様の如く神々しかった。ブライアンとロジャー・テイラーという天才的ミュージシャンがメンバーだったという幸運と情熱が、フレディ・マーキュリーという不世出のアーティストを失いながらも、悲劇を克服して長い歴史を積んだクイーンのキャリアの基礎になっているのだと思う。 さすがだったのは、異次元の空間と化したドームの中で、ダイナミックでありながら時にやさしく囁くかのようなギターで魅了するブライアンと、地球の時間を支配したようなリズムを刻むロジャー、フレディ・マーキュリーのスピリットを継承しながらもさらにクイーンの音楽を進化させたヴォーカリスト、アダム・ランバートの3人が、2時間半ずっとハイテンションをキープしながら演奏し、歌い上げていた点だ。ブライアンやロジャーのようなキャリア派のレジェンドに付きまとう老いのイメージを克服したような、超越した存在のミュージションが持つ天才的な才能があるからだが、そのためにプライベートにおけるストイックな体力作りや入念なリハーサルをしているように思えた。 加えて今回のツアーの大きな収穫は、アダム・ランバートがヴォーカリストとしてさらなる成長を遂げていたことだ。4年前の彼もすごかったが、今の彼は明らかに前進していた。全体のヴォーカル表現にどっしりした重量感が加わり、一方では頭を突き抜けるような高音のパートも素晴らしい。 ブライアンが日本で紹介しながら英語と日本語で弾き語る「手をとりあって」や、彼が会場のオーディエンスのコーラスを伴ってパフォームし、スクリーンに登場するフレディ・マーキュリーとコラボする「ラヴ・オブ・マイ・ライフ」を筆頭に、クイーンの歴史を実感させる外せない名演、名場面は今回もハイライトになっている。今後の公演のためネタバレはそれぐらいで避けるけど、日本人が最も愛した伝説のバンドの現在進行形のライヴは永遠に感動的である。 名古屋初日に続いて、クイーン＋アダム・ランバートはこの後2月7日日に京セラドーム大阪、10日に札幌ドーム、13日と14日に東京ドームと日本のメガドームを制覇する。42年ぶりとなる札幌公演ではGLAYがスペシャルゲストに迎えられるそうだ。どこよりも早く、名古屋でリヴィング・レジェンドの圧巻のパフォーマンスを体験出来てその余韻に浸っているにもかかわらず、大阪や札幌、東京のオーディエンスを羨ましく思っているところである。 文：村岡裕司(音楽評論家)

今秋、22公演に及ぶ壮大な北米ツアーが既に決定している、サー・ブライアン・メイとロジャー・テイラー、そして彼らの素晴らしきフロントマンであり、グラミー賞にもノミネートされたアダム・ランバートが、来年2月、日本で全5公演のメガ・ドーム・コンサートを開催すると本日発表した。これにより〈ラプソディ・ツアー〉は、2024年まで延長されることとなる。 　今回の日本ツアーは、2月4日の名古屋公演を皮切りに、大阪公演（2月7日)、札幌公演（2月10日)、そして締めくくりとなる東京ドームでの二夜連続公演（2月13日、14日）の計5公演で、延べ20万人以上を動員する予定。中でも札幌公演は、1982年10月29日の〈ホット・スペース・ツアー〉以来、クイーンにとって実に42年ぶりに北海道で行う歴史的コンサートだ。 本ツアーの発表に際し、ブライアン・メイと共にコメントを寄せたロジャー・テイラーは、次のように語っている： 「僕らの心の中で常に特別な位置を占め、最も敬意を抱く国であり続けている日本に戻れることになって、すごく胸が躍っているよ」。 ロジャーはさらにこう続ける： 「もしかしてこれが最後かも……なんて、誰にも分からないけどね。どうなんだろう？　 皆さんに楽しんでもらえるような、正真正銘のスペクタクルをお届けすることを約束するよ！」。

ブライアン・メイ（ギター）とロジャー・テイラー（ドラム）のバンド、スマイルにフレディ・マーキュリー（ヴォーカル）が1970年、そして最後のメンバーとしてジョン・ディーコン（ベース）が1971年に加わる形で1971年に結成。 74年の「キラー・クイーン」「輝ける7つの海」が初のチャート入りを果たし、75年4月に初来日。その年の後半には「ボヘミアン・ラプソディ」をイギリスで9週連続1位に送り込み、「キラー・クイーン」を収録した『シアー・ハート・アタック』はUKチャート２位のヒットとなった。さらに「ウィ・ウィル・ロック・ユー」「伝説のチャンピオン」を含んだ77年の『世界に捧ぐ』が全米3位を記録して世界的な成功を掴む。次々とヒットを放ち、81年にはイギリス史上最も売れたアルバムとなった『グレイテスト・ヒッツ』を発表。続いて85年にはチャリティー・コンサートの〈ライヴエイド〉に出演し、圧倒的なパフォーマンスは常にベスト・ライブパフォーマンスとして記憶されている。 91年のアルバム『イニュエンドウ』は見事全英1位に輝いたものの、そのわずか10か月後の11月24日、フレディがHIV感染合併症による肺炎で夭逝。92年には〈フレディ・マーキュリー追悼コンサート〉が開かれ、95年にフレディをフィーチャーしたクイーン最後のアルバム『メイド・イン・ヘヴン』がリリースされると全世界で2,000万枚以上を売り上げるベスト・セラーとなった。97年にはジョンが離れたが、ブライアンとロジャーはその後もクイーンの名のもとにポール・ロジャース、現在はアダム・ランバートと活動を継続している。 2018年クイーンは〈グラミー賞生涯業績賞〉を受賞した。2001年には〈ロックの殿堂〉、03年にはオリジナル・メンバー全員が〈ソングライターの殿堂〉入りを果たした。シングル、アルバムの総売り上げは3億枚を突破し、いまもなお数字を伸ばし続ける一方で、18年公開の映画『ボヘミアン・ラプソディ』では、彼らの功績を再認識させるだけでなく、新たなファンを生むことにもなっている。 81年にリリースされた『グレイテスト・ヒッツ』は英国の歴史の中で、今なお最も売れたアルバムとなっている。

北海道出身のロックバンド。 TAKURO(Gt.)とTERU(Vo.) を中心に1988年に結成。1989年にHISASHI(Gt.)、1992年にJIRO(Ba.) が加入し現在の体制となり、1994年にメジャー・デビュー。 30周年を迎える2024〜25年にかけては「GLAY EXPO」というテーマを掲げ、様々な活動を展開。現在公表されているだけでも、2024年2月には「QUEEN+ADAM LAMBERT」札幌ドーム公演にスペシャルゲスト出演、2024年3月に北海道出身のバンド怒髪天との対バンライブ、アニメ「グレンダイザーU」の主題歌を含んだ30周年記念シングルのリリース、2024年6月8日（土）、9日（日）に5年ぶりにベルーナドーム（旧：西武ドーム）また2024年8月にはGLAY初である夏フェスに出演予定など、精力的に活動することが決まっている。 2005年にメンバー主体で個人事務所を設立し、2010年6月に「GLAYがもっと音楽に対して真っすぐである為に」という想いを掲げ、自社レーベル『loversoul music & associates』(2016年に『LSG』と改名)およびECサイト『GLAY Official Store G-DIRECT』を発足、さらに2017年には、GLAYの全ての音楽と映像を配信するサブスクリプション型公式アプリ“GLAY app”を立ち上げるなど、音楽を通してGLAYがあらゆる可能性にチャレンジしていけるよう、常に独自のスタンスで高みを目指し、邁進を続けている。

Already lined up for a spectacular North America 22-date concert run this fall , Sir Brian May, Roger Taylor and their exceptional front man, Grammy nominated Adam Lambert, are extending their “Rhapsody Tour” activity into 2024 with the announcement of five mega dome Japanese concerts in February next year.

Opening their Japanese dates February 4 in Nagoya, the band will additionally perform it’s lauded “Rhapsody” show in Osaka (Feb 7), Sapporo (Feb 10) and conclude with two shows at the Tokyo Dome, (February 13 and 14) performing in all to over 200,000 concert-goers. The Sapporo show is a particularly historic one, marking the band’s first return to the city in over 42 years, last played by Queen on its “Hot Space” tour, October 29, 1982.

Queen + Adam Lambert To Tour Japan In February 2024

Queen and Adam Lambert are returning to Japan in February 2024 for their first shows their since 2020.

Sir Brian May, Roger Taylor and Adam – who sings in the place of late frontman Freddie Mercury – will return to East Asia to play a series of Dome concerts, kicking off at Vantelin Dome in Nagoya on February 4, before heading to Osaka and Sapporo, and wrapping with two consecutive nights at Tokyo Dome, beginning on February 13.

Queen admitted it “may be the last time” they get to perform in the country.

Drummer Roger and guitarist Brian said: “We are so excited to be returning to Japan, the country that has always held a special and most honoured place in our hearts. This may be the last time…who knows? We promise to bring a very real spectacular for you to enjoy!” The guitarist almost emphasised that this will be an even more ambitious version of the Rhapsody tour show and among the biggest concerts they’ve ever played in Japan.”

Adam said: “The Japan shows back in 2020 were so much fun, the audiences were incredible! I am thrilled to have the opportunity to come back. Can’t wait!”

Rock supergroup Queen + Adam Lambert have announced a handful of 2024 Japanese tour dates.

Following their North America 22-date concert run this fall, Brian May , Roger Taylor and frontman Adam Lambert will travel to Japan to continue their Rhapsody Tour with five mega dome concerts scheduled for early February.

The band will open a series of giant Japanese show dates on February 4 in Nagoya before going on to perform its reimagined Rhapsody show in Osaka on February 7, in Sapporo on February 10 and concluding with two shows at the Tokyo Dome on February 13 and 14.

The Sapporo show will mark the band’s return to the city after 42 years, last played by Queen on its Hot Space tour, on October 29, 1982.

King Charles and Queen Camilla to Host Japan State Visit in June

Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako's planned state visit to the UK in spring 2020 was postponed due to the pandemic.

"Their Majesties The Emperor and Empress of Japan have accepted an invitation from His Majesty The King to pay a State Visit to the United Kingdom in late June 2024," Buckingham Palace today, sharing that King Charles and Queen Camilla will host the visit.

Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako attended the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth in September 2022 , their first overseas trip since Naruhito's enthronement ceremony in 2019. They did not attend Charles and Camilla's coronation; instead, Crown Prince Akishino and Crown Princess Kiko attended on their behalf .

King Charles has a long history with the Japanese Imperial Family ; he's visited the country five times—the most recent trip occuring in October 2019, for the enthronement ceremony . This will be the third state visit he's hosted during his reign; the first, in honor of South Africa's President Ramaphosa , took place in November 2022, and the second, in honor of South Korea's President Yoon Suk Yeol , was in November 2023.

State visits typically include a state dinner on the first night, attended by senior members of the royal family. Per the royal family's website, the state banquet "is a very grand formal occasion held in the Buckingham Palace Ballroom. Around 150 guests are usually invited on the basis of their cultural, diplomatic or economic links to the country being hosted." (For example, South Korean girl band Blackpink attended the last state banquet. ) Typically, the royal women wear tiaras—at the last state banquet, Kate Middleton debuted the Strathmore Rose tiara and Queen Camilla wore the Burmese Ruby Tiara .

No specific date for the Japan state visit has been set yet, but we'll update this as soon as we learn more.

Travis Japan is a formidable 7-member dance and performance pop group from Tokyo, named in honor of award-winning American choreographer Travis Payne (Michael Jackson’s This is It, Lady Gaga’s The Monster Ball Tour, etc.), who helped audition them in 2012. Their performance style is a captivating mix of modern, jazz, and hip hop. In their native country, Travis Japan has headlined numerous performances including their annual Japanesque stage show TORA JA -NINJAPAN-. The group has sold out 3 consecutive shows in the fall of 2020 at the 17,000 capacity Yokohama Arena, before going on to host their 12-city IMAGE NATION national tour in the spring and summer of 2021.
