With a quarter of a century’s experience, your Skipper, Chris Lowe, knows the perfect places to down anchor for deep sea fishing from the deck of his purpose-built boat, the Atlantic Diver, and with his wife, Annabelle, he also offers amazing sea safari adventures. Newquay Fishing Trips : deep sea – cruising for congers – wreck & reef – private charters

Fishing off Cornwall’s coast is an amazing experience. The semi-tropical climate, its remote location and deep Atlantic waters attract an incredible array of species. We believe in sustaining fish stocks and are expert in the art of line-caught fish. Our experienced Skippers know where wrecks from all eras lay and where the fish are biting.

• Seal Cove Safari: 2-hour trips, daily –  Adult £20 and Children £15

The popular sea safari starts with identifying the friendly seals which frequent the Harbour. Then cruises along the rugged Cornish coastline, with stops to view birds, marine wildlife and crabbing boats with an interesting commentary about Newquay’s maritime history and modern day habitat. At Seal Cove watch the seals in their natural environment before speeding out to deeper waters for more offshore wildlife encounters. Stay alert for dolphins, swimming in the boat’s wake, basking sharks, sunfish, harbour porpoise and a wonderful array of sea birds.

• Snorkel Safari: 2-hour trips – £30 each

A glimpse into the underwater world of kelp forests and parks, packed with fish, crustacean, sea anemones, sponges, muscles and limpets. The on-board diver-recovery lift allows effortless entrance and exit to the water. Learn about marine ecology, plankton and human impacts whilst you enjoy snorkelling a Cornish cove or rocky outcrop. Snorkel kit, wet suit and hot drinks included in the price.

• Basking Shark Encounter: 3-hour trips – Adults £50 and children £40 (viewing only £45)

Don’t miss a rare opportunity to experience the world’s second largest shark. Steam out to the last location where basking sharks have been spotted and search for the huge dorsal fin, breaking the water’s surface, as they feed. If the conditions are favourable you get to snorkel with this magnificent creature of the deep – which eats … only plankton! Snorkelling kit, wetsuit, hot drinks and biscuits are included in the price.

On the waves

• Sea safaris to Seal Cove - their most popular trip lasting 2 hours, leaving from picturesque Newquay harbour, famous for its visiting grey seals and azure sea. Cruise along stunning Cornish coastline to spot dolphins, seals, basking sharks, sunfish, harbour porpoise and a multitude of sea birds. Watch crabbing boats hauling their catch or listen for cetacean communication with their on board hydrophone. Marine wildlife guides teach you along the way, and as they are an eco boat, help you to send off your photos for research/conservation info. They are WiSe (wildlife safe) acredited operators and take care not to disturb the wildlife you are watching.

• Swimming with basking sharks for the more adventurous

• Cage diving with blue sharks, an up close and personal adventure with no previous diving experience necessary.

• Snorkelling trips to view the diverse underwater flora and fauna using Atlantic Diver with her easy diver lift to enter and exit the water with ease.

Then chill out and enjoy the boat, plenty of space to relax and enjoy the view.

• Fishing trips - sustainable rod and line, catch fish under the expert tuition of frindly skippers, keep all you catch for the barbecue and learn about the Good Fish Guide. These trips start from 2 hours, half day, all day or chat to them and make a bespoke private charter.

• Diving - half day or all day wreck or reef diving for qualified divers ranging from sport diver to technical, over 300 wrecks to choose from. Accomodation, air/nitrox available at the dive centre.

Both boats are MCA licenced/carry full safety equipment/hot drinks/flushing toilet.

Newquay Sea Safaris and Fishing are located in Newquay, Cornwall. They offer wildlife coastal cruises for all the family and they are guided by the only marine conservationist skipper in Newquay.

You will cruise the hidden coves and secret beaches, around Newquay and meet Cornwall’s wildlife up front and close in their natural habitats. There is the chance to spot Cornish grey seals, Newquay’s infamous dolphins and if you are lucky, sharks.

On their sea safari trips from Newquay harbour, you will learn all about the fascinating marine Ecology. They are very family-friendly and you can even bring your dog along for the ride. You can also book one of the fishing trips with deep sea fishing, private charters, wreck and reef fishing, conger fishing and mackerel fishing on offer.

As well as their popular sea safari trips you can also book a snorkel safari, a basking shark encounter, shark cage diving and sea safari with fishing combination. Some of these extra activities have age restrictions for those taking part.

What better way to see Marine Wildlife than to get out on the water with them, and once a month that is exactly what you can do with Cornwall Wildlife Trust’s Restormel Group and their Newquay Boat Sea-Safari event.

The first Safari of the yeart akes place on Tuesday 8th May. The boat, the Atlantic Diver, will leave from Newquay Harbour at 7pm. You need to be there at 6.45pm and booking is essential, so please phone Chris Lowe on01637 850930 or 07860 927833 . The cost is £20 for adults and £15 for children up to 12 years.  There are a maximum of 12 places.

The boat  cruises slowly along the coastline where seabirds are nesting, around the headlands and out to sea.to spot for Pelagic ceatacean.The trip lasts for 2 hours and there is a chance to look for Kittiwakes,Fulmars, Gannets, Cormorants, Terns, as well as Seals and Basking Sharks. Lasty year the boat was joined by a pod of around 15 Bottlenose Dolphins, leaping out of the water!

The superfast power Catamaran  has both outsideand inside areas and plenty of space  but you are advised to take waterproofs and a warm drink– and don’t forget your binoculars and cameras.

2 Hour Sealife Safari Boat Trip

Perfect for:

A 2 hour adventure out of the Camel Estuary to the wild Atlantic Ocean, in search of an array of marine wildlife. During your safari you will have the opportunity explore the coastline hoping to spot some of the amazing wildlife that inhabits our waters on board our custom-built RIBs.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the nature of the boat and the unpredictability of sea conditions we do not permit pregnant women, children under the age of 2 or anyone with current or historic back, neck or bone problems. If you need further advice about if our trips are suitable for you, please contact us .

What to expect

Your skilfully skippered RIB will travel out of the Camel Estuary out to the Atlantic Ocean, covering approximately 25 miles of beautiful coastline in search of an array of marine life that inhabits our waters and coastline, slowing down in areas where we are likely to spot wildlife. Where we go may depend on the conditions and sightings on the day.

What we're looking for

You may be able to spot seals , dolphins , porpoises , whales , and even sunfish.

The Cornish coastline also hosts a myriad of seabirds including gannets, shearwaters, fulmars, oystercatchers, shags, cormorants and more. From the months of April to July, the cliffs are teeming with nesting guillemots and razorbills and you will visit “Puffin Island” – one of the last places puffins can be found nesting in Cornwall – with hope of spotting these beautiful birds.

Professionally guided

Our trips are professionally guided, offering you the chance to learn a little about the wildlife we see as well as local points of interest and our rich local heritage. We may also visit Port Isaac, home of ‘Doc Martin’, or Trevose Head, where you can get a unique view of the ‘new’ Padstow Lifeboat Station – you may even be lucky enough to see a dramatic lifeboat launch. You will have ample opportunity to snap some great photos of exciting wildlife and rugged coastline. Every trip is a non-stop mixture of sensitive wildlife observation and exploring the wild North Cornish waters.

2 hour sealife safari boat trip faqs.

We take from ages 2 and up (babies are not permitted). Please be advised that our boats travel at speed and can be very bouncy which some young children enjoy but others are not so keen on. Individual children’s suitability is at your discretion.

Our trips still run on rainy days. Rain does not deter the marine life (they are wet anyway!) so we simply wrap up in waterproofs and go for it! Please dress extra warm on rainy days with lots of layers to avoid getting cold. If you would prefer not to go out on a rainy day, please keep an eye on the weather and you may cancel your booking yourself. As long as we receive at least 24 hours notice, we can issue you with a full refund.

If we cancel your trip due to rough sea conditions or minimum passenger numbers (5) not being met, we will contact you as soon as possible to offer to reschedule you to a later date. If this is not possible, we can issue you with a full refund. Please note: If you cancel a booking yourself, we require at least 24 hours notice to be able to issue a refund.

Due to the bouncy nature of the boat and the unpredictability of sea conditions, our tours are not suitable for pregnant women.

All of our trips travel at speed and can be very bouncy in places so are not suitable for those with back/spine/bone problems.

Well behaved, small to medium sized dogs are permitted on our boats, however, often dogs do not like the sensation of being on a bouncy boat so please take this into consideration. If you can make other arrangements for your dog, it might be best to play it safe and leave them on land.
