Located in the depths of Pike Place Market since 1961, Golden Age Collectables is thought to be the oldest comic book shop in the world. Georgetown Trailer Park Mall

Georgetown  .

Down in Georgetown, far from the business districts and centers of consumerism, lies an eccentric marketplace where weekend vendors peddle throwback threads, folk art, and a plethora of wonderfully bizarre ephemera that has helped Seattleites change their mall rat ways for the better.

Scarecrow Video

University district  .

To step foot in Scarecrow is to time travel to a recent past ,  one with  far less   streaming  and far more Cookie Dough Bites. Capitol hill  .

Perhaps the most serene of Seattle’s clothing boutiques ,  Glasswing  is all earth tones, canvas, and greenery—outfit yourself in wear-forever pieces from designers like Jan-Jan Van  Essche  and Evan  Kinori  while you outfit your home garden (yes, even at the shop’s clothing-centric Melrose Market–adjacent location).

Archie McPhee

Wallingford  .

The Madison Square Garden of Seattle novelty shops boasts an impressive collection of inspired creations, like a squishable “stress tardigrade,” “handerpants” (yes, hand underpants), and an Edvard Munch–inspired electronic noisemaker that emits your pent-up screams for you.

South lake union  .

More than just a pile of goose feathers, the down sleeping bags, coats, and vests nesting inside this flagship store are world-class .

Throwbacks NW

Capitol hill .

Throwbacks NW is the city's go-to stop for old-school jerseys , pristine snapbacks, and comfy crewnecks in the fonts, colorways, and teams (we miss you, Sonics) of a bygone era.

It’s a fitting name for a boutique that brings a much-needed dose of color to a city of blues and grays. But don’t mistake playfulness for trend-chasing. From Girlfriend Collective’s brightest leggings to a rainbow of Rains jackets to shelves of equally beautiful home goods, Prism makes the case for statement pieces that cut through the gloom.

Something Silver

With three decades of experience selling unique and frequently local pieces at prices ranging from “engagement ring” to “I’ll buy two,” Something Silver is your cool friend in the jewelry business .

Lander Street Vintage

Pacific Galleries left a warehouse-sized hole in Seattle’s antiquing scene, but local vintage buff Tom Gorz—who got his start as a vendor there— quickly filled it , reopening as Lander Street just over a month later. Plenty of the original booth-runners stuck around, but don’t expect same-old, same-old: Gorz’s eye for furniture extends to setting up shop.

Hitchcock  Madrona

Like pictures, treasures from this accessories shop are worth a thousand words. Instead, here are just three: bold, refined, essential. Whether it’s something delightfully understated like a simple 18-karat  gold bar necklace or  distinctive like a custom sweatshirt,  it most definitely lives here.

Two Big Blondes

Central district  .

Founded in Georgetown in 1997, this sweeping consignment shop offers an unprecedented selection of plus-size clothing , from 25-cent sale items to $800 designer consignment in styles and sizes that reflect the diversity of its customer base.

Table of Contents

1. Glass-Blown Souvenirs

Chihuly Museum Gardens Glass

Where to Buy: Chihuly Museum, Garden and Glass, or Seattle Glassblowing Studio

A popular Seattle gift idea that I’ve always gotten an enthusiastic reaction to is authentic hand-blown glass art, which you can find at various places throughout the city. Home to the world-renowned glassmaker Dale Chihuly, Seattle has become an epicenter for glass blowing. Today, the artist’s work is showcased in the Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum (a perfect place to spend a rainy day in Seattle ).

While authentic Chihuly pieces will cost you thousands of dollars, the famous artist’s original style still shines through the glass art found throughout the city. Affordable pieces, like ornaments, figurines, and small globes, are made by other local artists and can be purchased for as little as $20.

For glassblowing enthusiasts – enroll in the Seattle Glassblowing Studios glass-blowing classes and bring back a truly authentic Seattle souvenir idea that you made with your own two hands!

If you’re interested in a guided tour of the Chihuly Garden and Glass and the rest of Seattle, check out this private half-day tour . You’ll love this activity if you’re spending 4 days in Seattle .

Make sure to buy a CityPass if you’re visiting Chihuly Garden and Glass, as you’ll save money visiting these and other popular attractions in the city!

2. Smoked Salmon

Pikes Place Market Fish

Where to buy: Alaska Smokehouse or Pike Place Market

Wild-caught Pacific Northwest salmon is a classic and affordable Seattle gift idea that dates back centuries. While you can purchase salmon almost anywhere in the world, Seattle’s is most certainly among the best. Soft, rich, and tasty, you cannot go wrong with one of the most popular Seattle gift ideas, and this is a treat that I never grow sick of, even as a local.

Smoked salmon is a popular option as it doesn’t need to be refrigerated and has a shelf-life of up to 5 years. Sold both fresh (packed in airline-approved coolers) and in shelf-stable boxes, salmon products can be easily delivered throughout the country.

For the perfect Washington State souvenir, the Alaska Smokehouse offers lovely wooden gift boxes. Each box contains a treasure of mouth-watering salmon – sustainably caught off the coast of Alaska, hand-filleted, marinated, and slow-smoked over proper alder wood fires. The classic, uniquely designed cedar boxes also make for lovely keepsakes, so make sure to pick this up when spending a weekend in Seattle .

If you’re visiting during summer in Seattle , make sure to check out fresh salmon at the local seafood restaurants as well! The Crab Pot and Ivar’s are two of my favorite ones to visit when I’m by the waterfront.

You can buy online from companies like Goldbelly or Amazon .

3. Starbucks Pike Place Market Coffee Mug

souvenirs from seattle pike place market

Where to buy: Original Starbucks store at Pike Place Market

I used to be addicted to collecting Starbucks mugs from wherever I traveled, especially when I was traveling all over the world when I started this website eight years ago. However, the Seattle Pike Place Market mug is easily one of the most special ones that I have in my collection.

This is not just any Seattle coffee mug, but one from the city’s very first Starbucks store. Established in 1971 at the ever-popular Pike Place Market , the original store has managed to uphold its classic and authentic appearance. For any Starbucks lover, there is no better Seattle souvenir than this, especially if you have already collected these mugs.

While Starbucks branded mugs can be found at pretty much any regional store, you can only buy this mug at this one location. The classic Pike Place Market mug is as authentic as it gets (and it’s just fun to drink coffee out of).

Just be aware that there will be a long line to get in, as it’s a popular tourist attraction. Take my locals tip and go right when it opens to avoid waiting, and then get coffee somewhere else to support a local cafe.

You can also buy this online if you can’t make it to the store in person.

Before you visit, make sure to understand how to get from the Seattle airport to downtown .

4. Local Coffee Beans

seattle coffee beans

Where to buy: Any local coffee shop that’s not Starbucks

Seattle and coffee are said to go hand-in-hand. With its deep, rich coffee culture, there is no shortage of small, independent coffee roasters and shops in this city. Most coffee shops and cafés offer their own gift items and special Seattle coffee blends, so pick your favorite one and bring home some freshly roasted beans.

I’ve gone to dozens of Seattle coffee shops over the years, and it’s impossible for me to name my favorite one. However, for an authentic Seattle coffee gift, Fonté Café is among the best. Committed to producing the highest quality coffee, their local roasters earned the reputation as the “best micro-roasters in the Northwest” by Northwest Palate Magazine.

At this lovely café, you’ll find a rich selection of single-origin, signature blends, hand-roasted, and freshly roasted coffee beans. You can purchase bags of these high-quality, sustainably produced beans for as little as $14.

However, it’s hard to pick just one coffee roaster with how many amazing ones we have in Seattle, so you can’t go wrong with most local shops (just don’t pick up beans from Starbucks, as there’s nothing original about them!).

Here is a list of some of my favorite local coffee shops:

  • Herkimer Coffee
  • Zoka Coffee Roaster
  • Caffe Ladro
  • Fulcrum Cafe
  • Victrola Cafe

If you can’t visit in person, you can order from a variety of local roasters online at Seattle Coffee Gear .

While you’re in Seattle, take a look at these unique things to do in the Pacific Northwest .

5. Theo’s Chocolate

theos chocolate

Where to buy: Theo Chocolate Factory at 3400 Phinney Avenue North

Of all the things to buy in Seattle, chocolate is among the best. Theo’s Chocolate is one of the city’s chocolate darlings and is the first organic, fair-trade chocolatier in America. Their sustainably produced chocolates boast a deep, rich flavor and are a local favorite.  I buy at least one bar a month when I’m at the grocery store, plus they always make unique gifts from Seattle

Beautifully packaged, with its hip and creative logo on the front, Theo’s Chocolates has become a trendy souvenir from Seattle. You can purchase Theo’s wide range of light, dark, and flavored chocolates for as low as $2 a bar or $8 and up for a gift pack. I love the huge range of chocolates they have, such as unique ones like bread and chocolate bars and dark chocolate-covered marshmallows.

While these delicious, award-winning chocolates can be purchased at most local stores, it is best to get them from the source – Theo’s Chocolate Factory. Book a one-hour tour as a cheap activity in Seattle and get an up-close look at how the tasty chocolate treats are produced (no Golden Ticket required!).

Theo’s is available online as well if you aren’t able to find them in person.

6. Fran’s Caramel Sauce

Caramel Sauce Running

Where to buy : Fran’s Chocolate Outlet or any Whole Foods

Another one of Seattle’s chocolate darlings is Fran’s, which is well-known for its decadent, creamy taste. Their most outstanding offering, however, is a rich caramel sauce . Slow-cooked caramelized sugar and cream create a topping that will have your taste buds dancing.

Warm it up and use it as a dressing for pancakes, waffles, and other desserts or dip for various snacks. Spoon it straight from the jar or add it to your coffee. No matter how you choose to use it, it is sure to be delicious and one of the easiest things to buy from Seattle.

You can also buy this online if it’s more convenient.

7. Marionberry Jam

Blackberries On Farm

Where to buy: Many Seattle gift shops or via the Seattle Gourmet Foods website

Another tasty Seattle souvenir that boasts an authentic Pacific Northwestern flavor is marionberry jam. Made from a locally grown blackberry and often referred to as the “Cabernet of blackberries,” these gourmet jams offer a unique taste that very few will get to experience. My parents always get me a jar of this when they go up to visit Anacortes , and my family loves putting it on our toast.

While many jams are stuffed with sugar, these lovely jams get their deliciousness from the fruit itself. One of the top producers of this jam is Seattle Gourmet Foods which acquired the Maury Island brand. These flavor-packed jars of marionberry jam are available in many retail stores around the city and through the Seattle Gourmet Foods website.  You’ll consider this one of the best Seattle gifts for the jam-lover in your life.

8. Pike Place Market Apron & Towels

Pikes Place Market Sign

Where to buy: Pike Place Market

The ever-popular Pike Place Market is most commonly known for its fresh fish, fruit, vegetables, and flowers. While some of these items may not keep long enough to be bought as a souvenir, the market has some lovely alternatives for unique Seattle gifts when spending one day in Seattle .

Colorful, hand-silk-screened towels and matching aprons are popular Seattle souvenirs, and I’ve gotten these for several out-of-town friends before. Showcasing Pacific Northwest artist Christine Vaughan’s designs, these lovely flour sack kitchen accessories have become a Seattle kitchen staple.

Embroidered on the towels and aprons are stunning images of fruits, vegetables, fish, and some indigenous Northwest animals. Other colorful accessories and kitchenware are sold throughout the market, but these vintage towels and aprons are genuinely authentic and are the perfect Seattle souvenirs.

While you’re at Pike Place Market, make sure to check out this list of the famous food in Seattle that you should try!

You can buy them online if you’re not able to make the trip in person.

9. Raw Honey

local seattle honey

Where to buy: Gourmet boutiques or farmers’ markets

There are many places you can buy raw honey from, thanks to the many beekeepers in the area. You’ll often see this sold at the many farmers’ markets in the area throughout the week (such as in Edmonds ), and I always have at least a few jars of honey on hand during the year.

One particular company to get honey from when looking for Seattle gifts is Ballard Bee Company . Through responsible urban beekeeping, the owner – Corky Luster – and the award-winning beekeepers at Ballard Bee Company have produced a blend of honey that is simply one-of-a-kind.

Honey always makes for a truly unique Seattle gift, and you’ll find plenty of other local companies as well. Some of my favorites include Shipwreck Honey, Sunny Honey Company , and Woodland Bee Company , and you’ll likely see at least one of these brands at the popular Seattle gift shops around town.

10. Seattle Space Needle Souvenirs

Space Needle Tower In Seattle City

Where to buy: Bronze Space Needle or Simply Seattle online

A fun fact about Seattle is that an observation tower known as the Space Needle was built in Seattle Center for the 1962 World’s Fair and now serves as an icon for the city. The detailed design of the tower was inspired by the Stuttgart Tower in Germany and the La Ronde revolving tower restaurant in Hawaii.

While I know this is a more touristy gift from Seattle than the other items on this list, you can only get Space Needle souvenirs in Seattle, so it’s one of the most popular Seattle souvenirs. As one of the city’s most famous landmarks, you can find Space Needle souvenirs in several nearby gift shops.

Whether you purchase a detailed etched model, fridge magnet, or key chain, they all make for a fun Seattle souvenir.

You can also buy Space Needle gifts online if you’re in a pinch.

11. Handmade Cheese

beechers cheese

Where to buy: Beecher’s Handmade Cheese

Across from Pike Place Market is Seattle’s well-renowned specialty cheese factory – Beecher’s Handmade Cheese , an amazing place for gifts from Seattle. I love getting lunch here and being able to watch how some of the best cheese in the Pacific Northwest is made while I wait for my meal.

You can also sample the cheese, purchase recipe books, and learn about cheese in-depth. Their cafe is especially tasty during winter in Seattle , where you can get grilled cheese and tomato soup (my favorite).

Still practicing the centuries-old craft of open-vat cheese making, the factory produces some of the best cheese products imaginable. A local favorite is an award-winning meal kit known as the “World’s Best Mac & Cheese Kit” that you’ll want to get as an idea of what to buy from Seattle. The notorious Mac & Cheese, which even featured on Oprah’s favorite things, makes for a hearty gift and can be purchased for about $55.

Need somewhere to stay? Here are the best places to stay in Seattle .

12. Hand-Carved Totem Poles

Totem Pole With Eagle

Where to buy: Ye Olde Curiosity Shop

Another fun idea for souvenirs from Seattle are these locally-made totem poles. Originally made by natives of the Pacific Northwest and often passed down through families, these authentic pieces are a beautiful symbol of the region’s rich history. Today, the original totems are found in museums throughout the city, and talented artists continue to carve their own.

While you may not want to purchase a full-size totem as a gift when looking for what souvenirs to buy in Seattle, a smaller hand-size one will do just the trick and can be found in many Seattle souvenir shops. For a hand-carved and locally-made totem pole, visit the Ye Olde Curiosity Shop located on the Central Waterfront of Seattle. You’ll also find some along the waterfront for Instagram spots in Seattle .

13. Northwest Designer Jewelry

native jewelry

Where to buy: Steinbrueck Gallery, Raven’s Nest Treasure, Eighth Generation

Another one of the best Seattle souvenirs that is unique to the Pacific Northwest is handcrafted designer jewelry. A prime example of the exquisite designer jewelry found in Seattle is renowned artist Erich Glendale of the Kwakwaka’wakw Nation. Erich Glendale and other local artists like Lorene Hanlon have designed a range of handcrafted, one-of-a-kind pieces.

Necklaces, bracelets, earrings, broaches, and talismans are some of the beautiful pieces sold and are some of the best gifts from Seattle. I’m always adding new bracelets or earrings to my collection, as they have such a beautiful look not often found in other designs. It’s also a great idea for a gift if you’re on a romantic date in Seattle .

Didn’t rent a car? Here’s how to get around Seattle without a car .

14. Craft Beer

pike brewing sampler

Where to buy: Pike’s Brewing Company or any local brewery

For beer enthusiasts, get a taste of some of the area’s finest craft beers at one of the best breweries in Seattle . The city’s booming craft beer culture came about due to pioneering craft breweries that experimented with unconventional flavors and new fermentation methods.

Today, you will find a wide variety of Seattl e microbreweries and nanobreweries throughout the city, each offering a truly authentic taste. That’s why it’s the perfect option when looking for what to bring home from Seattle if you’re a beer lover.

To sample or purchase from a broad selection of year-round and seasonal craft beers, head to the famous Pike Brewing Company . In addition to tasting and buying, the brewery also offers daily tours, where you can enjoy a first-hand look at the processes behind Seattle’s world-class beverage.

However, there are so many breweries in the area that I love, and while I can’t name them all, here are a few others that I often visit:

  • Old Stove Brewing
  • Optimism Brewing Company
  • Cloudburst Brewing

Check out this Old Ballard brewery tour and visit some of Seattle’s best breweries.

15. MarketSpice Tea

market spice tea

Where to buy: MarketSpice Tea, Made in Washington

When looking for what to buy in Seattle, look no further than one of the best teas I’ve ever had. I’ve been drinking MarketSpice Tea since high school, when my mom used to buy it, and I’d have it on cold, rainy days. I now buy it myself to stock up on, as this cinnamon-orange tea has a flavor unlike anything else I’ve tasted before (and I’m picky about tea).

If you have a tea-lover in your life or you’re the one that can’t get enough of tea, buy a few boxes of this to try out. I also love the old picture of Pike Place Market on the box, so it makes a classic Seattle souvenir.

While you’re now able to buy this at pretty much any grocery store around Seattle, you can also visit their Pike Place Market storefront when you’re there. That way, you can see the whole selection they have and find a new one you haven’t heard of before.

You can buy this tea online if you missed out in person.

16. Aplets and Cotlets

Aplets & Cotlets

Where to buy: Local grocery stores

Did you know that one of the most unique and delicious souvenirs you can get from Seattle is actually a local sweet treat known as Aplets & Cotlets? Made by Liberty Orchards in nearby Cashmere, Washington, these scrumptious little candies have been a Pacific Northwest tradition for over a century and make for one of the best souvenirs from Seattle.

The perfect blend of sweet and tart, Aplets & Cotlets are made from Washington apples and apricots, combined with walnuts and a dusting of powdered sugar. Once you’ve tried them, you’ll understand why they’ve been a favorite for generations among locals.

Aplets & Cotlets be on your Seattle souvenir list because not only do they taste amazing, but they truly represent the flavors and traditions of the Pacific Northwest. Buying them supports local businesses and gives you a chance to taste a bit of Washington’s agricultural bounty. Plus, they’re pretty easy to pack and make a great gift for folks back home who weren’t lucky enough to come along on your Seattle adventure.

You can also purchase them online .

17. Washington State Wine

washington wines seattle souvenirs

Where to buy: Pike and Western Wine Shop, local grocery stores

While we’re known for our beer production in Seattle, the state also makes some amazing wine. If you’re searching for a sophisticated and distinctly local souvenir from Seattle, look no further than a bottle of Washington wine.

Why wine, you ask? Well, Washington State is the second-largest wine producer in the United States, renowned for its diverse and high-quality wines. With over 1,000 wineries scattered across the region’s unique climates and landscapes, Washington wines truly capture the essence of the Pacific Northwest.

Among the vast selection, a few names stand out, making them the perfect additions to your Seattle souvenir list. Chateau Ste. Michelle , located in Woodinville (and a perfect Seattle day trip idea ), is Washington’s oldest winery and is celebrated for its award-winning Rieslings and Cabernet Sauvignons. Their wines encapsulate the regional flavors and reflect the rich history of Washington’s wine-making journey.

Then there’s Genoa Cellars , a boutique winery in Woodinville that specializes in Super-Tuscan-style blends. They expertly marry the fruit-forward style of Washington grapes with the structure of traditional Italian wine, resulting in a uniquely satisfying sip. Grabbing a bottle from either winery lets you take home a piece of Seattle’s surrounding wine country, offering a refined, sensory reminder of your time in this vibrant city.

18. Local Sports Merchandise

seahawks scarf

Where to buy: Mariners Team Store, Pro Shop at Lumen Field

One of the best ways to bring a piece of Seattle back home with you? Rep some of our city’s sports pride! We Seattleites are really into our sports teams, and we have the gear to prove it (I dare you to look in my closet; I have a whole section of jerseys and sweatshirts).

Whether you’ve caught the football fever with the Seahawks, cheered on the Sounders at a riveting soccer match, or joined the Kraken’s crew for some ice hockey action, grabbing a piece of sportswear is a fun and exciting way to remember your time in Seattle.

You’ll find a wide range of team gear all around the city – from jerseys that make you feel part of the squad to scarves that’ll keep you cozy while you cheer or hats that are as practical as they are stylish. You can share your Seattle story whenever you wear your jersey, wrap up in your scarf, or don your team hat.

And who knows? You might even inspire someone else to come and experience the magic of Seattle for themselves!

Grab your Seahawks swag on NFL.com , Kraken jersey on NHL.com , or Sounders gear on MLSstore.com .

19. Anything Nautical

nautical souvenirs from seattle

Where to buy: The Seattle Shop at 56, Essentially Seattle

Being nestled between Puget Sound and Lake Washington, Seattle is a city with deep ties to the water. It’s hard not to fall in love with the nautical vibes that flow through the city, reflecting its maritime history and the natural beauty that surrounds it. If you, like me, have a soft spot for the ocean, then nautical-themed souvenirs from Seattle are an absolute must-have.

There’s a certain charm in collecting sea-themed items from your travels, especially from a city as steeped in maritime culture as Seattle. From intricate glass-blown pieces inspired by marine life to beautifully designed jewelry with nautical motifs to home decor items like pillows or wall art with sea-themed prints, you’ll find a treasure trove of oceanic offerings in the Emerald City.

Each piece serves as a gorgeous reminder of your Seattle journey and allows you to carry a piece of the city’s maritime soul. So, go ahead and expand your sea-themed collection with unique pieces from Seattle – it’s a fantastic way to remember the salty breeze, the ferry rides, and the glorious ocean views that make this city so unique.

Best Shopping in Seattle

Corinne Whiting

LAST UPDATED BY Corinne Whiting February 25, 2022

Seattle’ s renowned Pike Place Market is just a starting point for unique Northwest shopping finds. Here, local vendors sell beautiful, varied goods amongst the hustle and bustle of this invigorating bazaar. The region's global influence is on display at enticing shops in the International District, while progressive neighborhoods promote local arts and crafts.

Weekend markets prove a great way to check out some of the local talent; vendors' merchandise ranges from clothing and accessories to wall hangings, furniture (often made from the area's luscious wood) and eclectic art pieces for the home or office. Both Fremont and Ballard host Sunday markets that are well worth a visit (think delicious food and coffee plus exotic wares and wears to take with you).

Luxury goods are showcased in tony shopping gallerias both urban and suburban. Find luxurious malls downtown (Pacific Place and its surrounding streets) or out east in Bellevue. (Travel even farther to the suburbs to find more traditional malls offering a cornucopia of shopping choices.)

Whichever type of shopping scene you happen to fancy—sleek megastores or intimate boutiques, this town surely promises to deliver.

Shopping in Seattle

Seattle’s iconic Pike Place Market is the first stop for any shopping in the city and a great place to find unique and special local souvenirs, but there are a few other options out there.

Seattle’s most famous and popular tourist attraction, the Pike Place Market, still operates as a working market for the city, which makes it an excellent place to shop for just about anything, including souvenirs to remind visitors of their trip here. But elsewhere in the city, local brands and small boutiques gather in little groups, making for excellent shopping and offering less obvious souvenirs to bring home.

Explore more articles

Pike place market.

As much a part of daily city life today as it was when it opened in 1907, it gathers crowds looking to see the famous fish throwers, the oldest Starbucks store, and so much more. The main level shops, on either side of Pike Place , sell meat, produce, flowers, and, of course, seafood – which they will ship home for you if you’re just visiting. Behind them, to the west and north, local artists fill their booths with jewelry, paintings, and other crafts.

Avoid the crowds and see a special time at the market by showing up as it opens in the morning. Some of the best bites are breakfasts (Ellenos Greek Yogurt and hom bow from Mee Sum Pastry), and you can actually get up close to the fish counter and see what they are unloading.

The lower floors feature permanent shops, including Ventures Marketplace , which sells food, beauty, and craft products from local entrepreneurs with limited resources that participated in Ventures’ business incubation program. Down First Avenue in the Atrium building, additional shops include Eighth Generation , owned by the Snoqualmie Tribe, which sells Native-designed products and art of all sorts.

Address: Pike Place Market covers a huge amount of Downtown, but is centered on the intersection of Pike Street and First Avenue.

Ballard Avenue

Local boutiques and shops selling handmade goods pepper the entire city, but few areas have as many in such a pleasant and walkable space as Ballard Avenue. The jewelry at Begin is mostly made by the owner, but includes a few other designers, and ranges from simple and affordable to expensive and ornate. Local outdoor outfitter Filson sells their signature flannels and also a few Ballard-specific items from their neighborhood shop here, and national outdoor brand Kavu sticks to its local roots, too, with a Ballard Avenue storefront. Standard Goods is the standard for souvenirs, with all sorts of shirts, hats, stickers, housewares, and more emblazoned with Seattle-centric names and messages. At nearby Venue , the same sorts of things plus jewelry and art say Seattle in more subtle ways, but everything there is made by local artists.

Address: The best shopping on Ballard Avenue sits in the area between 17th Avenue NW and NW Market Street.

Pioneer Square

Seattle’s oldest neighborhood never goes out of style, and that means it perennially holds excellent shopping in a series of local boutiques. Flannel brand Ebbets Field ’s flagship shop makes an excellent place to purchase a high-quality flannel shirt, or one of their old-school baseball caps featuring a team that no longer exists. Support teams that still play – and nearby – at the neighborhood’s many shops catering to the crowds of Seahawks, Sounders, Mariners, and OL Reign fans on their way to the adjacent stadiums. For elegance over athletics, look to the headquarters of local clothing rental company Armoire , where they also sell their wares. Across the street, Fruitsuper sells homewares, including many ceramics and woodcrafts by local artists. A series of boutiques and a few local wineries, as well as an excellent toy store ( Magic Mouse Toys ) round out the neighborhood’s many options.

Address: Pioneer Square runs along 1st and 2nd Avenue, and Occidental, mostly, between Cherry Street and the Stadiums.

Great Souvenirs from Seattle

Coffee beans.

Seattle famously loves its coffee, and while Starbucks enjoys a worldwide reputation, the true treasure comes in the dozens of small local roasters like Elm , Seven , Boon Boona , Vivace , Victrola , and more. Most shops sell beans – either their own or from a local partner – making it about the easiest souvenir to source. Even Starbucks has a special roast that superfans can look for only at the Pike Place and Reserve stores.

Native American Art or Crafts

The art of the Indigenous people of the Pacific Northwest features many local animals and motifs, making it a great way to support the tribes and bring home a meaningful souvenir. Look for shops with Native ownership to ensure authenticity: Eighth Generation in Pike Place Market, the Duwamish Longhouse in West Seattle, and Sacred Circle Gift Shops , at Discovery Park and SeaTac Airport.

Smoked Salmon

The best way to bring home Seattle’s seafood without splurging for overnight shipping is smoked salmon, which is shelf stable. Locals tend to buy theirs at the farmer’s markets, from smaller brands like Native Candies, but if you’re shopping at Pike Place Market, most of the fish shops will offer you a sample to help choose the perfect one

Flannel Shirt

If your trip convinced you that the classic flannel shirt really is as versatile and stylish as Seattleites insist, get your own high-quality plaid to bring home. Look for local brands like Ebbet’s Field or Filson, or do as the locals do and scour a few of the vintage and thrift stores for a pre-loved one.

Local Music

Assuming you did as every Seattle visitor should and went out to see a little local live music, then the best souvenir you can bring home with you is more local music. Whether you grab up a vinyl record at the show or ask an employee for help picking a winner at one of the city’s excellent music stores (Sonic Boom and Easy Street , to start), something with Seattle sound will help you remember the trip every time you listen.

Pike Place Market Food Tour: The Best Shops in Pike Place Market

' src=

Pike Place Market is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Seattle. Thousands of people flock to the market daily for the fresh food stands, local goods, outstanding restaurants, and sightseeing. The best way to explore is with a Pike Place Market food tour – either guided or self-led.

Seattle is such a foodie city, and Pike Place Market is the perfect representation of that. From the best mac and cheese to fresh local seafood, there is so much amazing food at the market.

There are also great sit down restaurants for a special occasion or date night. In fact, one of my favorite restaurants in the world is in Pike Place market.

Growing up in Seattle, I visited the market at least once a year. I look forward to returning every time I visit home.

This guide to Pike Place Market showcases the ultimate food tour that I recommend for first timers. Learn what shops to visit in the market and other fun things to do in Pike Place.

Some links on this blog are affiliate links, meaning I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you if you make a purchase through them. All opinions are my own, and I only recommend products and services I personally use and believe in. Thanks for your support!

The Best Pike Place Market Food Tours

My favorite way to visit Pike Place Market is doing a food tour to try small bites from all the best shops in Pike Place.

Pike Place Market Chef-Guided Food Tour

✅Led by a local chef

✅ Visit 9 vendors

This food tour is the #1 way to visit Pike Place market. It’s led by a skilled local chef and visits the best food vendors in the market.

The chef guided food tour includes stops at nine different vendors with the opportunity to try around 15 bites. The stops are focused on showcasing local ingredients and popular small businesses.

Some of the stops include Beecher’s cheese, Chukar cherries, and homemade chocolate.

In addition to tasting the delicious food, you will have the unique opportunity to interact with the small business owners and learn about their stories.

“We had a great time! The food samples were delicious and a great variety (cheese/cheese curds, pizza, taco, truffle salt, chocolate, chowder), and they easily accommodated diet restrictions (I don’t eat pork or shellfish and some members of our tour were vegetarian).” -Elizabeth (read more reviews )

Pike Place Market Seafood Tasting Tour

✅ For seafood-lovers

✅ 6 tastings

One of the best things to eat in Seattle is seafood. Since Seattle is located on Puget Sound, connected to the Pacific Ocean, there’s some of the freshest seafood in the world.

At Pike Place Market, there are entire sections dedicated to fresh fish, crabs, and other seafood. This food tour of Pike Place Market is focused solely on tasting all of this amazing seafood.

Some of the foods you will sample on this tour are clam chowder, salmon jerky, and yellowfin tuna. If you are a seafood lover, this tour is the best option for you.

The Best Food Shops in Pike Place Market – DIY Food Tour

One of my favorite ways to visit Pike Place Market in Seattle is with a DIY market food tour. I visited all of the best shops in Pike Place Market and get 1-2 food items to sample.

If you share everything with a partner or small group, it’s possible to try all of the best foods without getting too full.

Visit during lunch time and use all of these small bites to add up to the tastiest meal! Below I list all of the best shops at Pike Place Market.

Beecher’s Handmade Cheese – Worlds Best Macaroni and Cheese

Beechers Mac and Cheese in Pike Place Market

As a cheese-lover, mac and cheese is once of my favorite foods. The Beecher’s version truly is the best I have ever tried.

In addition to macaroni and cheese, Beecher’s serves paninis, lasagna and cheese plates featuring their cheeses handmade on site.

Piroshky Piroshky – Beef and Cheese Piroskhy

Piroshky Piroshky

Piroshky is one of the most popular shops in the market. Their Russian pastries offering something for everyone, but my favorite is the beef and cheese. They also offer vegetarian and dessert pastries.

Pike Place Chowder – New England Clam Chowder

Pike Place Chowder’s award-winning Chowders live up to the hype. My favorite is their classic new England, but you cannot go wrong with any of the varieties. This Pacific Northwest staple cannot be missed.

Rachel’s Ginger Beer – Pineapple Ginger Beer

Rachel's Ginger Beer Seattle

I typically do not like ginger beer. However, Rachel’s Ginger Beer is an exception to that feeling. The inventive flavors go beyond the typical spicy-ginger flavor.

Additionally, they offer great cocktails, floats and growlers to go.

Ellenos Real Greek Yogurt – Passion Fruit Yogurt

Ellenos makes the best yogurt I have ever tried. It is thick, creamy and the flavors are amazing. My personal favorite is the passion fruit. Ellenos can be ordered in a snack portion or a to-go container.

Daily Dozen Doughnuts – Cinnamon and Sugar Doughnuts

Doughnut in Pike Place Market

To wrap up your visit to Pike Place, get some daily dozen doughnuts. This small cart churns out fresh doughnuts in plain, powdered sugar and cinnamon sugar flavors. Enjoy them now or save them for later if you are full.

The Best Restaurants in Pike Place Market

In addition to the above food tour, this Pike Place Market guide will share other ways to take advantage of the market. The following restaurants are some of my favorites in all of Seattle.

Enjoy them for lunch or dinner during your Seattle vacation.

The Pink Door

Post Alley area of Pike Place

The Pink Door is my favorite restaurant of all time, found in Pike Place’s Post Alley. Their Italian food rival’s meals I have had in Italy. The atmosphere is romantic and unique. To top it off, aerial performers make for an unforgettable experience.

You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu at the Pink Door. My personal favorite is the Aperol Spritz and homemade lasagna.

Check out the Pink Door website for their calendar of aerial performances for an even better outing. Note, reservations are basically required to get a seat at this coveted restaurant.

seattle tourist shops

Maximilien is a romantic, French restaurant with stunning views from the market. Their outdoor igloos or intimate dining room make for a great date night or girl’s night out.

The menu features French favorites such as steak frites, mussels, and crème brulee. Unlike some fancy French restaurants that serve adventurous ingredients, Maximilien features approachable entrees with exceptional preparation.

Old Stove Brewing

For a casual meal in Pike Place Market, visit Old Stove Brewing . This large brewery is located on the edge of the Market, giving it amazing views of Puget Sound.

Old Stove features fantastic Seattle beers (calling all IPA lovers) and tasty bar food. Visit Old Stove before dark to take advantage of the view or visit at sunset to soak in the beatify of the setting sun.

Other Great Things to do in Pike Place Market

seattle tourist shops

While most of this Pike Place Market guide focuses on food, be sure to check out these other great tourist sites.

The Original Starbucks – The very first Starbucks store is in Pike Place Public Market. The line is always atrocious, so I recommend getting a photo from the outside then getting your coffee fix at the Starbucks a block away.

Flying Fish – One of the reasons the market is so popular, the Pike Place fish counter is a must see. When anyone orders a fish from the counter, they will throw the order across the room, with theatrics included.

Market Stands – If you have a kitchen, visit the farmers market stand for fresh ingredients. Otherwise, be sure to walk past and check out the amazing produce, flowers, and local goods.

Local Artists – Many local artists have stand selling clothing, jewelry, paintings and other crafts.

Gum Wall – The famous gum wall is equal parts interesting and disgusting. It is worth stopping by to take a couple pictures or even add our own wad of gum.

Seattle Great Wheel – At the pier below the market, take a ride on the Seattle Great Wheel that offers panoramic views of the city and sound.

Pike Place Market Map – The Best Shops and Restaurants

Getting to pike place market.

Since Pike Place Market is in downtown Seattle, getting to it can be a bit tricky. Seattle is notorious for bad traffic and confusing roads.

To easily get to Pike Place Market, I recommend walking or utilizing public transport. Pike Place Market is walkable from anywhere in the downtown neighborhood.

If you are coming from further in the city, take the link light rail train. It can be accessed from various points in Seattle and drops off a few blocks from the Market.

To drive to Pike Place Market, find parking in nearby pay lots. A day of parking can cost between $10 and $40 depending on time of year.

I didn’t realize how large Pike Place Market is. I knew about the fish tossing – which is one thing I would like to see. But the food – dang! There are a lot of places to eat.

Yeah its huge! I could eat there all day

I really enjoyed exploring the market when I visited Seattle a few years ago. I just love the different kinds of smell of food, spices, fruit and baked goods! Your post brought back some great memories 🙂

Okay, yum! I would love to eat my way through Pike’s Place Market immediately. Everything looks delicious! I’ve been wanting to visit Seattle. Maybe this my year! 🙂

You will love it! Come in the summer for the best weather 🙂

I remember visiting the Pike Place market when we were in Seattle a few years ago! It is indeed a huge version of the standard farmers markets in USA and much more. I love the smell of baked goods, cooked food, coffee while walking through. We also peeked into the fish market area and were pleasantly surprised at the variety of seafood! A great place to explore indeed! 🙂

I’m so glad you had a positive experience! It can be a bit crowded but so worth it

The Insider’s Guide to the Best Seattle Gift Shops

best Seattle gift shops

The holidays are a great time to explore the best Seattle gifts shops. Not only are you supporting local, but you’re picking up a thoughtful gift your loved one likely can’t find anywhere else.

Seattle has a ton of gift shops for everything from souvenirs to unique handmade items. I love visiting them in person to browse the shelve and pick the perfect gift. It often results in a more personal touch for the recipient, but it also feels more rewarding for me because it’s an immersive experience that screams “the holidays are here”.

Here are the best Seattle gift shops you have to visit no matter what time of year…even if you only make it to their websites!

Best Seattle Gift Shops

I have a post laying out the best shopping destinations in Seattle and the stores you need to visit in each. Below is my list of absolute favorite shops for picking up unique and thoughtful gifts across every neighborhood. They skew toward gift shops that have a variety or items, so check out my other guide if you’re looking for specific stores, like vintage or women’s clothing.

The Handmade Showroom

website | 600 Pine St (Downtown) | best for: handmade gifts

The Handmade Showroom is in the most unexpected spot: Pacific Place! This shopping mall in downtown Seattle has your typically high street stores, but this gift shop is tucked on an upper floor and sells gift items from makers around the Pacific Northwest.

Their inventory got so big that they actually opened another storefront in Pacific Place called Bezel + Kiln that also has a ton of unique Pacific Northwest gifts . Every time I’m downtown, I make sure to stop here for some interesting finds.

affordable original wall art from one of the best Seattle gift shops

Seattle Art Source

website | 5531 Airport Way S (Georgetown) | best for: affordable original art

If you are original art curious, but intimidated by art galleries, Seattle Art Source is for you. I worked with curator Sarah Hurt to outfit my home with art and she taught me original art doesn’t have to be prohibitively expensive.

She curates items from emerging local artists who are extremely talented. See that beautiful painting above the fireplace in the picture above? That’s my home and a piece I bought from Sarah! Find out more about the artist and other amazing ones Sarah helped me discovered in my article about the best Pacific Northwest artists .

Pro tip: Seattle Art Source shares a space with Adorn , a beautiful home furniture shop that also has some home gift items.

DeCicio Glass

website | 5416 Shilshole Ave NW (Ballard) | best for: handmade home goods

DeCicio Glass is inside Fifty Four Sixteen, a hidden studio down an alley just off the main drag of Ballard Ave NW. On any given day you’ll see owner, Greg, blowing beautiful barware. It’s one of my go-to stops anytime I’m perusing the Ballard Farmers Market, one of Seattle’s best farmers markets .

Made in Washington

website | 1530 Post Alley (Downtown) | best for: food gifts

This spot in Pike Place Market is a mecca for Pacific Northwest food gifts . It’s owned by the same company that owns Seabear Smoked Salmon, who I actually worked with to create this mouth-watering smoked salmon stuffed shells recipe .

Since they’re sister brands, you’ll find a lot of yummy Seabear products at Made in Washington. If salmon isn’t your thing, you’ll also find a ton of other handmade gifts and food items that highlight the type of things Washington is known for, like coffee, apples, cherries, and more.

platter and plates of smoked salmon from Seattle

website | 524 1st Ave S (Pioneer Square) | best for: Scandi-functional gifts

This Seattle gift shop in historic Pioneer Square features modern gift items perfect for the person who likes to make sure everything in their home has a thoughtful use. For example, I just added a chic keyboard duster to my Christmas list after spotting it in this store because it’s the perfect little item I didn’t even know I needed!

Venue Ballard

website | 5408 22nd Ave NW (Ballard) | best for: handmade gifts

Every holiday season I make the rounds at my favorite stores in downtown Ballard. This is one of the best Seattle gift shops always on my list of places to stop. They sell gift items from under-the-radar artists throughout the Pacific Northwest.

You can find all types of items here, but I’d say art is one of their biggest draws. The reason I think this is one of Seattle’s best gift shops is that it includes styles suitable for all tastes and ages. A lot of stores have one demographic in mind, often a younger Millennial, but I find things for my mom here as well.

Woman wearing polymer clay hoop earrings from a gift shop in Seattle

website | 1400 15th Ave E (Capitol Hill) | best for: handmade home and dry goods

I stumbled into this store once when visiting a friend in eastern Capitol Hill. It’s in a historic brick building that I wouldn’t mind calling my home. Inside you’ll find a ton of thoughtful handmade gifts for around the home. I especially like coming here for little trinkets and decor items that I think will make someone smile.

Casa di LaValle

website | 108 S Jackson St Suite 108 (Pioneer Square) | best for: impossibly chic decor and gifts

I’ve been following Cassandra LaValle ever since she started a lifestyle blog called Coco + Kelly. She’s finally made her dream to open a shop a reality and we’re so lucky to have her impeccable eye grace the Seattle shopping scene. You’ll find art, new and vintage home decor items, and a bunch of thoughtful curiosities throughout the historic building she rents.

Pro tip: Hayley Francis of Neon Doves sells her beautifully-curated rugs out of Casa di LaValle!

website | 4130 California Ave SW (West Seattle) | best for: affordable jewelry

And Arlen is dedicated to making jewelry at accessible price points. You’ll find minimalist pieces using interesting gems and metals. For a sample of their work, check out the delicate gold necklace with turquoise

Sweet Mickey’s Candy Shoppe

website | 5338 Ballard Ave NW (Ballard) | best for: candy

This is my go-to shop for picking up candy. They have a great selection of items, including everything from old-school sour belts to artisanal licorices from around the world.

Woodland Mod

website | 5330 Ballard Ave NW (Ballard) | best for: Scandinavian home goods

You can’t help but feel cool when you shop at Woodland Mod. They curate minimalist decor goods that’ll add some hygge to anyone’s home.

Big Whale Consignment

website | 10001 Aurora Ave N (Greenwood) | best for: handmade gifts and antiques

Big Whale is one of my favorite antique shops in Seattle . However, many people don’t realize they also have a pop-up market area full of great gifts at all price points. You’ll find art, pottery, stationary, jewelry, decor, and more.

Big Whale Consignment - one of the best Seattle gift shops

Seattle Art Museum

website | 1300 1st Ave (Downtown) | best for: unique, artistic gifts

How many times have you gone through the gift shop at a museum and cringed at the tchotchke? Yeah, me too. But I promise that SAM has really chic gift items you’d actually want to buy, many from local PNW artists.

In fact, most of the museums in Seattle have great gifts. Check out the Frye Museum Downtown, National Nordic Museum in Ballard, MOHAI in South Lake Union, and Wing Luke Museum in Chinatown-International District for more gift ideas.

Mainstay Provisions

website | 612 NW 65th St (Ballard) | best for: food gifts

Mainstay Provisions pivoted to be a larder during the pandemic. The concept stuck and now they’re one of my go-to shops for picking up pantry staples and wine.

website | 6418 20th Ave NW (Ballard) | best for: jewelry

Baleen is one of the first jewelry makers I fell in love with when I moved to Seattle. They have a range of minimalist and statement pieces all made using recycled materials. So not only will you or your loved one look impossibly cool, you can feel good about your purchase too.

Shop Velouria

website | 145 S King St (Pioneer Square) | best for: modern, women’s gifts

This chic and feminine store has gift items for that person in your life with cool vibes. They sell a lot of clothes from small designers throughout the Pacific Northwest, but they also have jewelry and unique gift items for around the home. It’s rare I go in here and don’t find something I want!

La Dispensa

website | 1424 11th Ave Suite E (Capitol Hill) | best for: Italian food items

Osteria la Spiga, one of the best Italian restaurants in Seattle , has been curating delivery boxes full of imported and homemade goods. My dad actually gets these each month and I’m always surprised by the amount you get for the price.

Now you can pick up their carefully-curated Italian goods in a separate storefront tucked in Chophouse Row. You’ll find items they make in house in addition to hard-to-find goods straight from Italy.

gnocchi dish from one of the best Italian restaurants in Seattle

Rabecca Onassis Boutique

website | 2134 Western Ave unit 118  (Downtown) | best for: women’s fashion

You may recognize the impossibly chic Frilancy for her fashionable posts on Instagram. She’s the owner of Rabecca Onassis Boutique near Pike Place Market. You can expect to find colorful and bold women’s clothing meant to leave an impression.

Pro tip: Her husband, Mike Spade, owns a cool hat shop a few doors down.

Ada’s Technical Books

website | 425 15th Ave E (Capitol Hill) | best for: nerdy books and gifts

Right down the road from Station 7 is Ada’s Technical Books and Cafe. This place has a ton of off-beat books for the nerd in your life. They also have puzzles, board games, and other geeky gifts that are perfect for my boyfriend and his brothers come Chanukah.

Pro tip: Check out my gift guide for nerds and geeks for more ideas!

Butter Home

website | 1424 11th Ave, Chophouse Row (Capitol Hill) | best for: functional home goods

I’m hard pressed not to buy stuff for myself every time I visit Butter. It’s a bit hidden inside Chophouse Row, but it always has interesting home decor items. Last time I was here I bought the cutest gold animal magnets for myself because it’s not one of the best Seattle gift shops if you don’t also end up picking up an item for yourself!

Retrofit Home

website | 1103 E Pike St (Capitol Hill) | best for: decor and bobbles

I love popping into Retrofit Home because they have fun decor and furniture for the home. I especially love their planters, so if you’re a plant parent this is one of of the best gift shops in Seattle for you!

website | 1525 Melrose Ave (Capitol Hill) | best for: hipster goods and plants

I instantly feel cooler every time I step inside this store. They sell a lot of clothes from indie designers for both men and women, but you’ll also find interesting home items that look right out of a Kinfolk magazine.

Like any true hip Millennial, they are also a bit obsessed with plants. So much in fact that they also opened Glasswing Greenhouse for gifts every plant parent would lust over.

website | 1716 NW Market St (Ballard) | best for: quirky, artsy gifts

Monster is another store perfect for the artistic and geeky person in your life. They have a ton of fun, quirky socks and craft kits perfect for the person who wants to try their hand at making something themselves.

Mox Boarding House

website | 5105 Leary Ave NW (Ballard) | best for: geeky board games

I used to come here a lot to play board games and hang in their cafe. They sell a ton of board games, from the popular to the obscure. I love how you can try before you buy, since it can be overwhelming to determine if you’ll like a game from the box. If you have someone in your life who loves games, this is the gift shop in Seattle you have to visit.

Pro tip: They also have a location on the Eastside if that’s more convenient for you.

Annie’s Art and Frames

website | 2212 NW Market St (Ballard) | best for: useful stocking stuffers

I come here throughout the year every time I need a piece of art custom framed. But during the holidays I also browse around for quirky items that make perfect stocking stuffers. I’ve yet to come here for some Christmas shopping and not left with something for everyone on my list. That makes it one of the best Seattle gift shops for sure!

Gallery wall featuring Pacific Northwest artists

website | 5208 Ballard Ave NW (Ballard) | best for: modern his & her gifts

This is another one of those hip boutiques fitting of Kinfolk magazine. They have a good selection of women’s and men’s clothing along the perimeter of the store, but in the center they have a ton of beautiful items that could be on display in a museum. You’ll find jewelry, ceramics, books, and unique things like crystals. I always find a gift item here for the person on my list who loves a bit of woo woo.

Valerie Madison Fine Jewelry

website | 1422 34th Ave (Madrona) | best for: jewelry, especially engagement rings

I can’t help but like literally every single one of Valerie’s engagement rings on Instagram. She designs beautiful pieces that are classic, but with a modern and fresh twist. You’ll also find dainty necklaces, rings, earrings, and more at her shop tucked away in the Madrona neighborhood in eastern Seattle. She’s selling some of the best local Seattle jewelry !

Eighth Generation

website | 1406 1st Ave (Downtown) | best for: Indigenous-made goods

Eighth Generation is one of Seattle’s best gift shops because you can purchase Native goods directly from Indigenous makers. The store is owned by the Snoqualmie Tribe, who was instrumental in reclaiming “Native inspired” work, particularly blankets, from non-Indigenous companies profiting off traditional designs. In fact, they were the first company in North America to do, which led the way for more Native-owned businesses to sell their goods.

website | 513 N 36th At (Fremont) | best for: handmade gifts

This spot in Fremont is a fun place to find goodies made from artists around the Pacific Northwest. You’ll find a collection of food items, decor, art, and accessories for all tastes here. If you’re visiting this is also a great spot for Seattle souvenirs.

website | 2002 NW Market St (Ballard) | best for: Scandinavian-style housewares

I love this furniture and decor shop in downtown Ballard. I recently just bought the most comfortable sofa couch here, which had me going into the shop on 4 different trips within the span of a few weeks. While there I couldn’t help myself from also perusing their tables and shelves with modern and functional items I imagine would adorn every home in Sweden.

Sacred Circle Gallery

website | Day Break Star (Magnolia) | best for: Native-made goods

Sacred Circle is another Native-owned company raising awareness and opportunities for Indigenous makers. It’s a nonprofit owned by the United Indians of All Tribes Foundations that works with tribal artists to sell their beautiful work. They also have a location inside the Sea-Tac Airport if you can’t make it to their cultural center in Discovery Park.

Fair Trade Winds

website | 5329 Ballard Ave NW (Ballard) | best for: gifts made by international artisans

I always find beautiful gifts here. They sell items made from artisans across the world who they support through Fair Trade practices. That means every time you buy an item, money goes directly to the maker to help support their livelihood. I love how they also include the story of the makers on the labels so you can learn a bit about where it came from.

The Whale Wins

website | 3506 Stone Way N (Fremont) | best for: foodie gifts

During the pandemic, The Whale Wins pivoted to become a larder selling wine and curated foodie goods from around the world. While they’re open again as a regular restaurant, they kept a portion of their restaurant as a larder. It’s a great spot to stop in for foodie items, particularly from Italy.

dining room with green wall and vintage furniture

Book Larder

website | 4252 Fremont Ave N (Fremont) | best for: cookbooks

This is one of the best Seattle gift shops when you need gifts for chefs . They sell every cookbook you can think of, some signed. They also have little baubles perfect for the home, like tea towels, food journals, and obscure foodie magazines. I volunteer here during their author book talks and can attest to what a gem this spot is!

Glazer’s Camera

website | 811 Republican St (South Lake Union) | best for: camera gear

Any photographer in Seattle will tell you Glazer’s is the best Seattle gift shop for camera nerds. I’ve gotten all my cameras and lens here, plus traded in my old ones. They have everything from unique stocking stuffers to equipment, so you’ll definitely find that obscure item on your photographer’s list.

Pro tip: Check out my gift guide for techies for more camera gift ideas!

website | 3500 Stone Way N (Fremont) | best for: outdoorsy gifts

Evo is my go-to gifts shop for skiing, biking, or other alternative sports gear. I purchased my own snowboard boots there and make sure to stop here anytime my skiing family needs some new gear.

woman holding snowboard overlooking ski resort

website | 120 N 80th St (Greenwood) | best for: kids toys

This is my go-to for getting gifts for my nieces. My favorite thing about this toy store is it has a mix of both thoughtful, educational gifts and characters my nieces recognize. While I like the idea of those chic children’s boutiques like Clover Toys that sell handmade items you’d assume all French parents give their children, my nieces want the colorful characters they see on commercials and in school. So I love how I can find things like Harry Potter legos here as well as a STEM kit that teaches them something.

Flora and Henri

website | 401 1st Ave S (Pioneer Square) | best for: feminine lifestyle and clothing gifts

This boutique is a wonderland for modern women and kids gifts, particularly of the clothing, jewelry, and home decor variety. Every time I walk into this shop it’s like I’m transported into the home of the chicest person I know. Everything is organized and thoughtfully placed to really immerse you in a vibe, which is definitely a characteristic you want in the best Seattle gift shops!

website | 917 Western Ave (Downtown) | best for: hammered metal and gem jewelry

I would have never discovered Stórica (previously called Silver + Salt) if I hadn’t taken a spoon making class with jewelry maker, Christine. Her and her team forge beautiful gold and silver jewelry that look like they should cost way more than they do. For the person who loves that hand-forged look with a pop of vibrant gemstone, this place is for you!

Swansons Nursery

website | 9701 15th Ave NW (Crown Hill) | best for: plant and holiday gifts

I’ve given Swanson’s way too much of my money with the 40+ plants I have around my home. Come spring break in Seattle , I head here to buy new plant babies for the growing season.

They are a mecca for plant parent gifts . I’ve gotten so many cute pots and useful things like fertilizer here. They also have a great gift shop with cute items for around the home.

During the holidays they turn their greenhouse into a holiday wonderland, so it’s also a great spot to pick up unique ornaments and Christmas decor. I go here every year with my nieces to pick out an ornament and am always amazed at the fun ones they have.

website | 1435 1st Ave (Downtown) | best for: Italian foodie items

DeLaurenti is the go-to emporium for all things Italian. They curate sauces, cheeses, olive oils, wines, condiments, and more from all over Italy. They also offer a lot of gift boxes if you are overwhelmed by the idea of choosing what to get!

Big John’s PFI

website | 1608 S Dearborn St (Central District) | best for: Italian foodie items

Big John’s is the other best Seattle gift shop for Italian food goods. Compared to DeLaurenti, I find this spot has a bit more of the old school Italian-American foodie items I remember eating when I grew up. They also have a wide selection of foodie items from other areas in Europe for those who miss hard-to-find snacks and pantry staples from home.

The Cura Co.

website | 2407 E Union St (Central District) | best for: modern jewelry and house wares

This spot is another chic boutique perfect for the modern women in your life. The store is impeccably curated with muted clothing, objects, jewelry, and gifts. The style reminds me of minimalist Japanese design with a dose of Palm Spring desert vibes.

website | 5410 22nd Ave NW (Ballard) | best for: hipster gifts for him and her

This is another one of the best Seattle gift shops for the hip Millennial in your life. They feature items for both men and women, with a healthy amount of clothing and accessories, plus a well-curated section of items for around the home. This is a spot where I always struggle to decide if the item in my hand is for my sister or me.

Georgetown Trailer Park Mall, one of the most unique things to do in Seattle

Georgetown Trailer Mall

website | 5805 Airport Way S (Georgetown) | best for: upcycled and vintage gifts

I love the quirky trailer park shops in Georgetown. They feature fun handmade gifts, both vintage and upcycled into new and quirky gift items. It’s also a perfect excuse for exploring some of the best antique shops located right along the main drag where the mall is located. It’s perfectly located for also doing my Georgetown food tour !

Brother Joe

website | 5629 Airport Way S (Georgetown) | best for: foodie items

Brother Joe is a coffee shop, cafe, and convenience store all in one. They curate mostly local foodie items and home essentials like pickles, hand soaps, liqueurs, condiments, and more. It’s a great place to stop when perusing the Georgetown neighborhood!

Storied at Home

website | 3829B Edmunds St (Columbia City) | best for: home goods

Mark and Jana Hunter owned a design build firm before deciding to focus on the finishing touches that make a house a home. They started an online retail shop before opening up a gorgeous storefront with a great collection of home gifts that make great conversation starters.

website | 5531 Airport Way S (Georgetown) | best for: leather gifts

Hardmill is one of my go-to spots for handmade leather gifts. You’ll find everything from belts and wallets to kitchen items like aprons, coasters, knife rolls, and more. They have a hipster vibe that reminds me of Austin, Texas, so it’s the perfect gift for the aesthete in your life.

website | 4525 California Ave SW (West Seattle) | best for: home decor

This West Seattle shop is a must visit if you need to outfit your home, but tucked between in the shelves is a treasure trove of fun locally-made gifts.

Mystery Made

website | 4312 SW Oregon St (West Seattle) | best for: men’s gifts

This tiny shop is hidden off the main drag of California Ave in West Seattle. It focuses exclusively on men’s clothing and lifestyle items. The quality is impeccable and the vibe moody and minimal. This is perfect for the person in your life who has an understated but sophisticated style.

website | 1600 Dexter Ave N (South Lake Union) | best for: plants and gifts

This gorgeous plant shop is sure to leave you inspired. Not only does it look like a fairy oasis as you shop, but there is a great selection of hard-to-kill and tropical plants sure to make any plant parent happy.

website | 2332 California Ave SW (West Seattle) | best for: home goods

This hip shop has a great collection of everyday staples and irreverent conversation starters. For example, you’ll find sweaters that will never go out of style along side magnets shaped like a picnic.

5 Top Shopping Spots in Seattle

Seattle's high-end retailers, malls and specialty stores cater to a range of tastes.

Nordstrom Downtown Seattle

Seattle's downtown Nordstrom flagship store is nestled within the Pine Street corridor, so other shopping options abound nearby.

If you're itching for a retail fix, Seattle 's shopping scene is for you. The metro area is headquarters to several global brands – Nordstrom, REI, Eddie Bauer and Sur La Table – as well as an abundance of locally owned boutiques. Sure, downtown shopping is a big draw for out-of-town visitors, but venture into nearby neighborhoods for a taste of vintage, eclectic and quintessentially Pacific Northwest shopping options.

Ballard Neighborhood

Horseshoe [Boutique]

Ballard is a bit of a detour from downtown Seattle (7 miles). But the neighborhood, originally a fishing town settled by Scandinavian immigrants, is well worth the effort it takes to visit – especially when it comes to boutique shopping.

[Read: The Best Hotels in Seattle .]

Ballard and nearby Fremont are shopping go-tos for Lara Dennis, concierge at the Kimpton Alexis Hotel Seattle . "The two neighborhoods are pretty close together and that's where I think you're going to find our most local Seattle boutiques," Dennis says. She also notes they tout a good mix of Northwest style and locally crafted items, as well as vintage and high-end merchandise. "All of them are pretty centrally located, so you can just spend an afternoon bouncing from boutique to boutique. Some of my favorite spots are Show Pony [Boutique] , Horseshoe [Boutique] and Trove [Vintage Boutique] – they're all fantastic."

Capitol Hill Neighborhood

Standard Goods in Seattle

Standard Goods

Just east of downtown, the always-lively neighborhood of Capitol Hill is a quick one-stop hop from the Westlake Link light rail station or a short 30-minute walk.

The neighborhood is home to a ton of boutiques, so strap on your sneakers and prepare to stroll – there's no shortage of retail eye candy in Capitol Hill. Tracie Kahikina, head concierge at the Four Seasons Hotel Seattle , thinks shopping is more hip and friendly in Capitol Hill. " Le Frock is a great spot for vintage clothing and accessories," she says.

Meanwhile, Kyle Poirier, W insider at the W Seattle , vouches for Standard Goods . "They only make shirts that say Pacific Northwest or Seattle, that kind of thing," he says. "Not super touristy, but representative of where you're from, so [it's] definitely where locals like to shop."

Pine Street Corridor

If you're staying downtown, you don't need to go far to explore the vibrant Pine Street retail corridor. From Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, it's roughly a 20-minute drive or 40-minute Link light rail ride.

[Read: The Best Seattle Boat Tours .]

"There's the sort of obvious downtown Pine Street corridor that has Pacific Place mall and they have some high fashion as well," says Jessica Gomes, VIP coordinator at Hotel 1000 .

Not only does the mall have outposts of international fashion houses like Gucci and Louis Vuitton, it's also home to local shops. One of Gomes' favorites is The Finerie . "It's run by a gentleman named Michael Deocampo and this poor gentleman has the task every year of traveling to Milan, Paris and New York and picking up last season's goodies that didn't go anywhere." He'll bring these high-end garments back and sell them at his store, she says. "The size categories aren't so flexible, but it's amazing. I use him often for men's and women's."

Nordstrom Downtown Seattle

Yes, we get it. Seattle's downtown Nordstrom flagship store is a sexy retail destination. Especially after its 2015 remodel.

Isaac Tarin, lead concierge at Hotel Andra , recommends the newly renovated Nordstrom store. "It's high-end shopping and customer service at its finest," he says.

The flagship store is also nestled within the Pine Street corridor, so other shopping options abound nearby. If you're a budget-minded fashionista, you can go next door to Westlake Center, where you can stop by Nordstrom Rack to shop the retailer's brands at a discount.

Georgetown Trailer Park Mall

The under-the-radar Georgetown neighborhood just south of downtown is fast gaining popularity. A quick 10-minute drive from downtown, this quirky neighborhood packs lots of historic brick buildings and character. Grab a beer at one of the many nearby breweries, then get your shop on.

[Read: The Best Seattle Tours .]

"For a truly unique shopping adventure, check out the Georgetown Trailer Park Mall ," says Chuck Watts, head concierge at Hyatt at Olive 8 . "That's where eight vintage trailers run by independent designers, makers and collectors sell their goods direct in a one-of-a-kind venue."

The semihidden concrete park features a handful of retro shops catering to collectible-minded shoppers. Be on the lookout for local art and lots of vintage goodies.

23 Seattle Souvenirs: Ideas From a Seattle Native

' src=

Seattle is a beautiful city on the Puget Sound with plenty of tourist attractions to keep visitors busy. But no doubt you’ll want a memento of your trip to the Emerald City. If you’re looking for the perfect Seattle souvenirs, you’re in luck!

In this blog post, I will discuss some of the best souvenirs to remember your trip to Seattle . From Pike Place Market to the Space Needle, we will cover all of the bases. I’ll also mention some other great Seattle-themed gifts, like…well, you’ll need to just keep reading to find out what.

Plan the perfect trip to Seattle with this FREE travel planner.

Seattle coffee souvenirs

Starbucks coffee mug.

My favorite Seattle souvenir is the classic Starbucks coffee mug . If you’re looking for a Seattle-themed souvenir, then Starbucks is one of the best places to buy one. The coffee giant was founded in Seattle and has become one of my favorite places to buy a souvenir from almost all of my U.S. trips.

So next time you’re in Seattle, be sure to stop by one of the many Starbucks stores around the city and pick up a coffee mug as a keepsake of your trip.

Something from the oldest Starbucks Store

The oldest Starbucks store is located at 1912 Pike Place. Yes, I know it isn’t the original. That’s OK. It’s a fantastic photo opportunity and you can buy some great souvenirs there. However, you should prepare to wait in line; it is particularly popular with tourists.

Pike Place Market Starbucks mug sitting on a wood table

Starbucks Reserve coffee or other local coffee

If you appreciate coffee and you haven’t yet tried Starbucks Reserve coffee then all I have to say is “What are you waiting for?”

It won’t be cheap, but it is so worth it. I once paid $25 for half a pound of Starbucks Kona (not a blend, mind you) and it was without a doubt the best coffee I had ever tried in my entire life. Worth every last penny. You won’t be sorry.

Grab some amazing Reserve coffee at the Seattle Roastery at 1124 Pike St. You can find Reserve at other Starbucks stores too, but the Roastery is an experience in and of itself. And grabbing a unique drink at the Roastery is one of my favorite cheap things to do in Seattle .

If Starbucks isn’t your thing you’ll certainly find a coffee shop you do like that will offer its coffee for sale.

Photo of yourself at the Gum Wall

the author posing by the gum wall in Seattle

Sometimes the most meaningful souvenirs are free. The entire point of a souvenir is to have a visual reminder of an experience, right? And Seattle just happens to have some unique photo spots.

You’ll find the Gum Wall at 1428 Post Alley . Yes, it’s weird. But it’s also kind of amazing.

The Gum Wall might not be for everyone, but it makes for a great photo souvenir. And if you can stomach it, you can even contribute to the wall!

In November 2015, the wall was cleaned of 2000 pounds of gum. The sugars in the gum had been damaging the bricks. More gum was added immediately after the cleaning was completed, of course.

Photo with the Fremont Troll

The Fremont Troll is one of Seattle’s most popular tourist attractions. No doubt you’ve images of it all over Instagram. You’ll find him clutching a Volkswagen Beetle on N. 36th Street at Troll Avenue N.

Theo Chocolate

Getting back to food…Theo chocolate makes a great Seattle trip souvenir or gift. It’s made in Seattle, and you can even do a tasting experience. And most importantly it’s quite delicious. So, make sure you grab some at the flagship store . Theo also offers vegan chocolate varieties.

Seattle skyline with the Space Needle

Fran’s Chocolates

Fran’s chocolates make a great gift…for others or just a treat for yourself. My father loves Fran’s so much that my mother has ordered them to be shipped from Seattle as a Christmas gift after they moved away from Seattle.

I love their classic salted caramels. You can pick some up for yourself at their boutique on 1st Avenue in downtown Seattle. Fran’s is also well known for its caramel sauce. You have to try it.

If you or someone in your life loves candles then consider getting a unique souvenir from glassybaby. They make hand-blown glass candle holders and drinkware. Each one is different.

Since Seattle is known for its glass art, these make a beautiful and very Seattle souvenir.

My sister owns several of these, some of them purchased directly from their Seattle hot shop where they make these items and offer them for sale. And they are just stunning.

A glassbaby would be a little more pricey than your average souvenir, but they’re perfect for a more splurge-y memento (that you can use). They make beautiful gifts.

Pick up a Seattle souvenir from Pike Place Market

No doubt Pike Place Market is near the top of your Seattle bucket list . It’s one of my favorite things to do in Washington State and a great place to pick up some souvenirs like…

Fresh seafood

You read that right. If you’re into seafood, why not buy some from the famous Pike Place Fish Market? They’re the guys who throw fish. They’ll package it for travel and you can have a delicious Seattle souvenir to bring home with you. They also advertise that they ship nationwide.

fish market stall at the Pike Place Market in Seattle

Smoked salmon

If you’re at all concerned about your getting fresh seafood home, try a Pacific Northwest delicacy, smoked salmon.

You can buy it at Pike Place Market or just about a thousand other places in Seattle. No joke. I think it’s everywhere, even the airport. You’ll be tripping over it.

MarketSpice Tea

I’d wager that cinnamon-orange is probably their best-known variety, but you can find much more than that in the MarketSpice Pike Place Market shop. It’s just steps from the Pike Place Fish Market.

And they don’t offer just tea, they also have a lot of spices. Of course.

Grab a bouquet of beautiful and local fresh flowers to brighten up your hotel room. Or buy a potted plant as a Seattle souvenir that will last longer. You can find beautiful flowers at Pike Place Market.

colorful bouquets of flowers for sale at Pike Place Market

Grab a souvenir from Ye Olde Curiosity Shop

Ye Olde Curiosity Shop is a Seattle landmark, and it’s the perfect place to pick up a Seattle souvenir…or a creepy curio. It’s kind of the souvenir shop that beats all souvenir shops.

You can find everything from standard souvenirs to Northwest Coast Native art in the shop. If you’re looking for something unique or perhaps a little oddball, this is the place to go.

Seattle is home to a thriving art scene, and you can find local artists’ work all over the city. The Pike Place Market is a great place to start, but you can also find local art in Seattle’s many galleries.

Buy a piece of art as a Seattle souvenir for your home or as a thoughtful gift for a loved one. Just make sure it’s packed well for travel!

Seattle is a great place to buy handcrafted jewelry. There are several stores in the city that sell unique and beautiful items. If you’re looking for something special to remember your trip by, be sure to check out the local jewelry stores.

Seattle Mariners jersey

If you want to show your Mariners team spirit when you’re not in Seattle, the Mariners Team Store at T-Mobile Park is the place to go. You can buy a jersey to let everyone know who your favorite player is.

Seattle Seahawks memento

If you’re a Seattle Seahawks fan, you’ll want to buy a souvenir from the Lumen Field Pro Shop. They’ve got everything a fan could want, from jerseys to hats to T-shirts.

General Seattle souvenirs

view of the Space Needle in Seattle from below against a clear blue sky

Space Needle statue

Is there any more iconic site in Seattle than the Space Needle? Of course not.

You can remember your trip forever with a Space Needle figurine or mini Space Needle . You can find them all over Seattle, but the SpaceBase gift shop at the Space Needle is a great place to start.

Seattle T-shirt or sweatshirt

If you’re looking for a classic Seattle souvenir, consider picking up a T-shirt or sweatshirt at one of the city’s many gift shops. You’ll be able to find something to show off that you were in Seattle, no matter where you are in the world.

Seattle Christmas tree ornament

Hubby and I buy Christmas tree ornaments as souvenirs of our trips whenever we can. Our Christmas tree is almost entirely decorated each year with ornaments we’ve picked up on our travels, including the one I picked up on my most recent visit to Seattle.

Seattle refrigerator magnet

Refrigerator magnets make a great and inexpensive souvenir. You can find them in just about every gift shop or souvenir shop. Anytime you’re in your kitchen, you’ll be reminded of your trip to Seattle.

Seattle postcards

If you’re not a great photographer, buy some beautiful postcards of Seattle as a way to remember your trip. Or go old school and mail a postcard to a friend or family member while you’re traveling.

Snow globes

If you want to bring a little Seattle with you wherever you go, buy a snow globe. You can find them at just about any gift shop in Seattle, and they make a great memento of your trip.

TIP: Keep track of all of your important travel details with a digital travel planner like this .

Final thoughts on Seattle souvenirs

Seattle is a great city to visit, and it’s also a great place to pick up some souvenirs. You can find everything from local art to jewelry to smoked salmon (seriously, it’s everywhere) at the Pike Place Market.

If you’re looking for something special to remember your trip by, be sure to check out glassybaby and other local artisans.

No matter where you are in the world, you’ll have your souvenirs to remember your visit to this beautiful city.

PRO TIP: If you have flexible travel dates you need to check out Going (formerly Scott’s Cheap Flights). You get amazing flight deals sent straight to your inbox with instructions on how to book directly with the airlines. Check out Going here. Going is my favorite way to find great travel deals.

12 things to do around the Seattle area this weekend

Welcome to the weekend! From our new guide to Seattle’s Vietnamese cuisine to where to admire spring flowers during May, here’s our latest on local things to do.

Eats and drinks

  • Explore Seattle’s vibrant Vietnamese food scene with these Top 10 dishes picked by our food team. You can also check out the city’s buzziest Vietnamese restaurant debut in recent memory or this tried-and-true 25-year-old gem . (For something you may not tasted before, our critic recommends a secret menu item .)
  • Head to Bellevue for a delicious (and entertaining) meal. From a blowtorched cheesy beef stew that’s drawing long lines to a freshly griddled Turkish pide, these Eastside spots both play on an open-kitchen concept.
  • Be the star of your next picnic or barbecue with this bright, flavorful and quick-to-make corn salad from our recipe writer.

Outdoors and travel

  • Try one of these five Seattle-area outings to admire late spring flowers, from rhododendrons to peonies.
  • Go on an adventure to find some of the best big trees in Western Washington. Not all of them stand at the end of hiking trails, but these areas are worthy of pilgrimages to see the cedar, spruce, firs and more.

Movies and TV

  • Heading to the theaters? Check out what our reviewers thought of Bill Skarsgård’s “Boy Kills World,” the steamy love triangle “Challengers” featuring Zendaya, the bloody horror movie “Abigail” and other recent releases .

Performance arts

  • “Fat Ham” at Seattle Rep , running through May 12, is a must-see, our reviewer says. The tragicomic, Pulitzer Prize-winning play isn’t a typical re-imagining of Shakespeare. It’s witty, raunchy — and also opens up some raw, honest truths.
  • Two concerts inspired by nature play at Benaroya Hall this week. Northwest Symphony Orchestra teams up with Washington Trails Association to celebrate the state’s landscapes on Friday, while Seattle Symphony performs “Antarctic Symphony” tonight, Saturday and Sunday.
  • The new book “Truly, Madly, Deeply” by Alexandria Bellefleur is an enemies-to-lovers story that takes place in Seattle.
  • Here are four new cozy mysteries and eerie thrillers to get lost in. They’ll take you trudging around a peculiar forest or second-guessing a trip to an isolated, historic castle.
  • Seattle author and illustrator Haley Weaver’s new memoir explores her unlikely friendship with her own anxiety.
  • If you haven’t yet explored our guide to Seattle’s books scene, check out local, independent bookstores, book groups and more here .
