Ska-P (Spanish pronunciation: [esˈkape]) is a Spanish ska punk band formed in 1994 in Vallecas, a district of Madrid, by a group of friends from Madrid, Navarre and Euskadi

The band can be categorized, politically, as an anti-establishment musical group, sometimes even considered anarcho-communist.[citation needed]

Musically, despite their fun image, Ska-P has well-rehearsed and tight arrangements, and as of 2002, includes among its members a brass section.

At the end of 2004, they announced work on a new album. After voting 4 against 2, in February 2005, the sudden and unexpected announcement was made that the band would take a break to allow the members to work on side projects, though some considered the band to have dissolved. Their farewell concert on September 24, 2005, filled the 10,000-seat La Cubierta in Spain. The band's worldwide farewell tour of 2005 ended in Buenos Aires, Argentina in October of that year.

In October 2007 the band confirmed they were getting back together and in September 2008 released the single "Crimen sollicitationis". This was followed in October by a new album, Lágrimas y Gozos (Tears and Joys). The release of the album was followed by a brief tour.

Ska-P returned to La Cubierta Stadium on 27 December 2008 to perform their only concert in Spain of that tour. Today the band still tours in the US, Mexico, and Europe. In 2010 and 2011 Ska-P held their first tour in Japan.

Ska-P goes to Jera On Air 2022

The Jera On Air lineup was still missing one more name. In 2022 Ska-P will play at the festival. A nice announcement for many fans. With this name the line up is complete. The only thing left for us is to look forward to the end of June!

Jera On Air will take place for three full days next year, from the 23rd to the 25th of June, and tickets for this finest hardcore, punk and metalcore festival are for sale via www.jeraonair.nl .

Ska-P is a ska punk band formed in Vallecas, Spain in 1994 and currently consists of Roberto Gañán, Roberto Gañán and seven other musicians.

Ska-P is known partly as being one of the most popular ska bands in Spain, Europe, and Latin America but they also have a huge reputation as an anti-establishment group and their music is deeply political.

They gained a commercial break in 2002 when 'Que Corra La Voz' appeared on a number of European charts and by 2004 the band announced they were planning a follow up. However, abruptly at the beginning of the next year they decided to take a break as a band from Ska-P and progressed other musical side projects, the band had basically dissolved at this point.

However just two years later, Ska-P confirmed their return and released 'Lágrimas y Gozos' in 2008 which peaked at #6 in their native Spain and they accompanied this with a brief tour, playing just one date in their home country. Their next album '99%' remains their highest chart position in Spain to date, debuting at #3. Their energetic live show and political ska music has taken them on tours all over the world including the US, Canada and Japan. In 2013 they released their only compilation album to date titled 'TODO Ska-P' which features a selection of their best selling work and the band's favourite tracks from their long career.

Ska-P are a Spanish ska-punk outfit skunking their way out from Madrid, bringing forth their firebrand style that can be one moment biting political commentary and the next full off-kilter wit. Whilst Ska-P may have called a hiatus back in 2005, they have returned intermittently over the years and there is every chance they will return to a stage near you in the foreseeable future. Since 1994, they have released seven albums, with the last being 2013's "99%," which proved they are still full of ideas.

Live, they are as tight and well-rehearsed as a military parade, accompanied by a small brass section that still manages to create the power of a herd of 60,000 elephants roaring their trumpets Guns of Navarone. It is always an unhinged affair, reflecting the energy of their music. As a 9-piece, they create a full, raucous sound, projecting their lively brand of ska that could be described as anti-establishment.

Ska-P still tour globally, finding great success in Spanish speaking countries. Yet regardless of the language difference, the vivacity and infectious nature of their music will instantly get the audience jumping wildly in appreciation. With mohicans and checkered kilts, Ska-P just scream fun and that is exactly what they offer in their live show, yet the music is still of the highest quality. They have been going for a while, but in n way has the veracity of their performance being dampened by age.

PGA Tour players learn how much loyalty is worth in new equity program

Players who stayed loyal to the PGA Tour amid lucrative recruitment by Saudi-funded LIV Golf are starting to find out how much that loyalty could be worth.

The PGA Tour on Wednesday began contacting the 193 players eligible for the $930 million from a “Player Equity Program” under the new PGA Tour Enterprises .

The bulk of that money — $750 million — went to 36 players based on their career performance, the last five years and how they fared in a recent program that measured their star power.

How much they received was not immediately known. Emails were going out Wednesday afternoon and Thursday informing players of what they would get. One person who saw a list of how the equity shares were doled out said the names had been redacted. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because many details of the program were not made public.

The Telegraph reported Tiger Woods was to receive $100 million in equity and Rory McIlroy could get $50 million, without saying how it came up with those numbers.

Commissioner Jay Monahan outlined the first-of-its-kind equity ownership program in a Feb. 7 memo to players, a week after Strategic Sports Group became a minority investor in the new commercial PGA Tour Enterprises.

The private equity group, a consortium of professional sports owners led by the Fenway Sports Group, made an initial investment of $1.5 billion that could be worth $3 billion. The tour is still negotiating with the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia — the financial muscle behind the rival LIV Golf league — as an investor.

Any deal with PIF would most certainly increase the value of the equity shares.

Another person with knowledge of the Player Equity Program, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the private nature of the dealings, said the equity money is not part of the SSG investment. That money was geared toward growth capital.

Golf.com received a series of informational videos on the Player Equity Program that was sent to players and reported only 50% of the equity would vest after four years, 25% more after six years and the rest of it after eight years.

It also reported how the 36 players from the top tier were judged on “career points,” such as how long they were full members, victories, how often they reached the Tour Championship and extra points for significant victories.

Jason Gore, the tour’s chief player officer, said in one of the videos, “It’s really about making sure that our players know the PGA Tour is the best place to compete and showing them how much the Tour appreciates them being loyal.”

Emails also were sent to 64 players who would share $75 million in aggregate equity based on the past three years, and $30 million to 57 players who are PGA Tour members. Also, $75 million in equity shares was set aside for 36 past players instrumental in building the tour.

The program has an additional $600 million in equity grants that are recurring for future PGA Tour players. Those would be awarded in amounts of $100 million annually started in 2025.

Players only get equity shares from one of the four tiers now, although everyone would be eligible for the recurring grants.

Even with equity ownership geared toward making the PGA Tour better, the concern was players questioning who got how much and whether they received their fair share.

LIV Golf lured away seven major champions dating to 2018 since it launched in 2022, all with guaranteed contracts and most of them believed to have topped $100 million.

McIlroy, playing this week in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, was asked how much would make players feel validated for their decision to stay with the PGA Tour.

“I think the one thing we’ve learned in golf over the last two years is there’s never enough,” McIlroy replied.
