Slightly Stoopid are an alternative rock band hailing from San Diego, California, USA. The band formed in 1995 and their eclectic brand of summery, genre blending rock & roll has made them one of the biggest cult bands in American rock music.

In a way, this band could only hail from a place called Open Beach. The uniting thing about their music is its sense of carefree abandon; it’s the sound of an endless summer, a spring break that’s everything you could possibly want and more. Needless to say, it’s pretty awesome that way.

One of the most impressive things about the band is that in their nineteen years as a band they’ve been built around the same core duo of founding members, multi-instrumentalists and childhood friends Miles Doughty and Kyle McDonald. Their chemistry and artistry, not to mention their friendship, have been the driving forces behind the band in a way that few bands before or since have replicated.

They formed the band in high school and soon afterwards they were discovered by Sublime frontman Bradley Nowell, who signed them to his label where in 1996, they released their debut album “Slightly $toopid”. They’ve since released a total of seven studio albums but for all their quality and experience as musicians, it’s the bands live show that’s made them the band they are to this day.

Few bands have a more welcoming, inclusive spirit at their shows than Slightly Stoopid, both the founding members of the band credit their fans with making them what they are today. That gratitude is pretty much tangible when they perform, and they give back in turn with every riotous skank, every crowd surfing bass player, and every ounce of positivity they possess.

They may be a cult band, but they’re the kind of cult that welcomes newcomers of all shapes, sizes and colours. Anyone would do very well to be a part of it the next chance they get.

Live reviews

I must admit: Slightly Stoopid isn't the best when performing in front of a live audience. Now I know some of you reading this may disagree, but my personal opinion is that they have a 'not-so-great' sound quality, as it is (at times) difficult to capture the groove, if you will, as well as the lyrics. Seems to me a loud noise is all I can hear in certain songs, situations, venues, etc etc... But hey, I fucking LOVE the band, don't get me wrong. They have some fantastic vibes flowing in their studio albums.

Dirty Heads, on the other hand, put on a great show. Nothing to complain about there.

And Stick Figure... Oh god, where to start...?

Stick Figure has recently become one of my all-time favorite bands, right up there with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin.

Scott Woodruff is an absolute master lyricist, fantasic musical genius, and just an amazing all around artist in the Reggae Dub world. This band has literally saved my life, preventing me from suicide. I saw them live in Magna, UT in 2014 and when they played Hawaii Song, it changed my whole mindset and perspective of life.

Scott, and the rest of the band, if you read this, my heart goes out to you all. Such an inspirational band and life saver for me, and if I had one wish, it would be to spend a day, two days, a week, month, year, shiiiit, if I could I'd live the rest of my life with these guys. There's no better feeling I get than when I listen to Stick Figure and to be able to do the things they get to do on a daily basis, I'd trade anything for that. You guys are awesome. Thank you so much for the music and art you have created. You really have no idea how much I can relate to every lyric and every song ever written by Scott Woodruff and Stick Figure. Thank you again. I'm greatful to be living in the same era as you all do, and I wish you all the happiness and luck in the world, Stick Figure. I've fallen in love with the artistical music and vibes you all have created. Can't wait for more to come...

-Nicholis Scott Johnson

Scott, if you happen to read this, you are my hero. I'd love to jam out with you all at some point in my life. It would truly be an honor, and the greatest dream come to reality.

Soooo, I got introduced to Stoopid in Park City....... these guys are legit and so much fun to see. I was blessed to see them at the Canyons Ski Resort after making turns all day, also...... Skull Candy did their Xmas party at Maxwell’s.... of course I was there helping Mr Maxwell launching his new restaurant..... super fun since they played in front of what? 100 people ish? There were some fun VIPS I won’t mention, lol...Stoopid was very personable and killed it. Then I moved to Texas..... Stubbs, Austin, TX,White Oak, Houston..... these guys are great!!!!!! And now they branch out with Berres Hammond...( maybe I butchered that) but they keep giving respect to the old school Reggae. I feel these guys launched the Stick Figure, The Movement, Tribal Seeds, Rebulation, Fortunate Youth, there are so many other greats playing this music now...... I don’t know about everybody else..... but it’s such a feeling of peace and chillness and happy vibe listening to all these bands. Much respect to the Marleys, Burning Spear, Steel Pulse, Israel Vibrations, Black Uhuru...... I think you get my vibe..... if Stoopid reads this..... hit me up at Riondos.com next time your in Houston.

I’d love to pay you back for influencing my life on the positive. Safe travels to you all........

Slightly Stoopid is a band known for their southern California sound. Though you don't need to be a surfer to enjoy their great live concerts. With songs ranging from ska, reggae, rock and even the surprising hip-hop inspired tunes it's no surprise the band have accumulated such a diverse audience.

There is no shortage of variety at a Slightly Stoopid concert. Whether the song has clean guitars, or dirty punk rock distorted guitars. Even the occasional saxophone, bongos or keyboards. The vibe is always consistent. Amazingly the band's shows feel like a fun backyard party even when there are hundreds of die hard fans rocking out. Everyone in the crowd feel like friends rather than crazed fans. Perhaps it's because the band doesn't have the outrageous "Rock Star" look. They're just guys wearing shorts and t-shirts.Dancing along to their chill "Sublime-esq" music, or moshing to their early 90's inspired punk rock jams. The crowd at a Slightly Stoopied concert always seem to be having nothing short of an amazing time.

So if you're sick of the cliche rock band and want to see something with a little bit more flavor check these guys out! Who knows? Maybe you'll end up finding yourself in the crowd dancing along with everyone else having the time of your life.

Miles Doughty and Kyle McDonald remain at the core of Slightly Stoopid, shaping and evolving the band to greater and greater heights over the many years that they have been performing. The childhood friends are to thank for the strong solidarity the band members share and the musical talent that the band displays live. Both multi instrumentalists, they have kept Slightly Stoopid going strong for twenty years now, to great success. Despite the name, there is nothing to be ridiculed about this band. Their rock and roll swagger and genre blending genius has made them one of the biggest cult rock bands in America over the past decades and their fan base continues to expand today. The fans turned up in the plenty to watch Slightly Stoopid perform, waving their hands and whooping appreciatively. The band was great on stage, playing a range of instruments from guitars to bongos. Despite their Californian origins, the crowd contained a whole mix of people, only a few of which were surfer types, who had come to enjoy the rock, reggae and at times even hip hop elements to the band.

Slightly Stoopid has now been performing and recording as a band for 20 years and although the band crosses various genres including rock, reggae, hip hop and blues, there is an undeniably Californian vibe to their show.

You can almost smell the salt sea in the venue and the band appears with a small slice of Cali sunshine for the audience in the form of openers 'Till it Gets Wet' and 'Somebody'. As the crowd dances below the stage, the seven strong live band goes about making their undeniably difficult genre hopping sound. They never take themselves too seriously though and there is a huge emphasis on fun as frontman Miles Doughty encourages the band to really jump for early single '2 A.M'.

One of their elusive releases, the rest of the setlist has been made up from a selection of their seven albums. The sounds appear to sit back to back together well and a blistering rendition of '5 Piece Fried Chicken Jam' followed by a cover of Charles Wright's 'Express Yourself' brings an incredibly enjoyable gig to a close.

Another awesome reggae show at the Cocoa Amphitheater! Pepper, Stick Figure and Slightly Stoopid was an awesome lineup. All three acts were great. All three bands featured their old hits and new songs. Members of each band made appearances with the other bands throughout the night which made it quite special. The crowd was great, with everyone sharing in the music and vibe. One thing to remember about this venue is that the July/August concerts are quite hot so drink plenty of water!!

Can't wait to see more bands in Cocoa!!

The concert was amazing, they sounded great. Put on an great show. Especially with that sunset and that rainbow as a backdrop, WOW! Third time seeing them and always worth it! Only down side the venue needs stricter controls on alcohol consumption. WAY too many stupid drunk people. Puking all over, stumbling all over everyone. Stumbling stupidly through the street, made the show not as enjoyable as it could have been.

The line up for this tour is great. I did the meet n greet. It was so much fun. After the pics with the whole band were done. They hung out with us,signed stuff, took selfies and partyed some. I highly recommend the meet n greet with SS.Can't wait to do it again next time they come back.......1Love

Awesome show!! Great energy, sound and overall performances were fantastic from start to finish for sure. I would most definitely check them out again and also recommend others to do the same. Who doesn't love a night of sweet tunes to jam out to on the dance floor all night long!!!

The boys put on an amazing show! They showed how thankful they are for their fans and even stopped the show to ensure a girl in the front that was passing out received help. They played a good mixture of old hits and new songs. I will definitely go see them again!

San Diego, CA-based  Slightly Stoopid  and Sublime With Rome  announced today the first round of dates for their  Summertime 2023  tour. Produced by Live Nation, the tour will hit outdoor amphitheaters and select festivals across the country.  Joining Slightly Stoopid and Sublime With Rome are special guests Atmosphere and The Movement.   The historical significance of this package is extraordinary as Slightly Stoopid joins forces with Sublime With Rome on tour for the first time ever. It all traces back to legend Bradley Nowell (Sublime’s original frontman)  and Sublime’s early influence on the career of Slightly Stoopid. After initially hearing Miles and Kyle practicing while they were teenagers, Nowell signed them to his indie label imprint Skunk Records while the band members were still in high school.  Nowell later produced and released their debut studio album Slightly $toopid in 1996 on Skunk, and appeared on the hidden track “Prophet,” now a staple in the Slightly Stoopid live repertoire nearly 25 years after its original recording. Together these groups became the forerunners of a genre of music and lifestyle movement that will be reflected through the deep catalogs of songs about to be performed across the country.   “We couldn’t be more excited for the Summertime 2023 tour,” says Miles Doughty. “We haven’t toured with Sublime since the early years of Stoopid and we are really excited to be back with our brothers on what we like to call the ultimate summer band camp. We’re stoked to debut some new songs and play new venues and cities we haven’t hit for a while. And most importantly we can’t wait to be playing music for all of you this summer… between the on-stage collabs and the backstage hangs it’s gonna be insane! The Stoopidheads are what fuels Slightly Stoopid. Should be an epic summer of madness!!!”   Fans gain first access to the artist presale beginning Tuesday, March  7 at 10 AM local time, where a very limited amount of “early bird” tickets will be available in each market for $30. Tickets will be available at SlightlyStoopid.com/tour. Local presales will start on Thursday, March 9 at 10 AM local time, and the general on-sale will then take place on Friday, March 10 at 10 AM local time.   Pioneering hip-hop duo Atmosphere joins the Summertime 2023 tour, marking this the first tour with Slightly Stoopid in 10 years. Slug of Atmosphere adds, “We are absolutely excited to have this opportunity to go on tour with Slightly Stoopid, Sublime with Rome, and The Movement. Do not miss your opportunity to come make party with us.” The news comes on the heels of their new single “Okay,” off their forthcoming album So Many Other Realities Exist Simultaneously (out May 5th via Rhymesayers Entertainment).   The Summertime 2023 tour kicks off in Auburn, WA on July 6. It routes the beloved So-Cal bands throughout North America with stops at legendary venues such as Shoreline Amphitheatre, Walnut Creek, Jones Beach, and PNC Arts Center, ending in West Palm Beach, FL at iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre on September 3. All dates can be found below with more to be added.

The band previously toured in support of their hit 2019 album Blessings with singles “Wicked Heart” and “Light On” making a splash at alternative radio. Blessings is the band’s third studio album, and it was helmed by Rob Cavallo, the producer behind Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Linkin Park, and more. Article contributed by the syndicate | published on tuesday, february 22, 2022.

slightly stoopid tour songs

Today, San Diego, CA-based Slightly Stoopid announce the first round of dates for their Summer Traditions 2022  tour — a nod to the summer outdoor amphitheater circuit the band has performed annually since 2007 but hasn’t taken place for the last two years due to the pandemic.

Fans gain first access to the artist presale beginning Wednesday, February 23rd at 10 AM local time, where a very limited amount of "early bird" tickets will be available in each market for $24.99 + fees. Tickets will be available at SlightlyStoopid.com/tour. Slightly Stoopid's top fans will be notified via email for Spotify presale. Local presales will run on Wednesday, February 23, and Thursday, February 24, and the general public on-sale will then take place on Friday, February 25 at 10 AM local time (except Santa Barbara on sale is 12pm PT).

Joining Slightly Stoopid for their Summer Traditions 2022 tour are special guests Pepper, Common Kings, and Fortunate Youth. Summer Traditions was originally intended as the 2020 tour package, later canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. After a consistent two decades on the road came to a halt in 2020, Slightly Stoopid has committed to deliver the same line-up and same experience, amongst many of the same venues in 2022! In an abbreviated 2021, Slightly Stoopid performed a handful of shows including Petco Park in their hometown San Diego, and a landmark two-night sold-out Red Rocks "Double On The Rocks” weekend, which also streamed worldwide on FANS/Relix/Twitch channel to over three million viewers. Summer Traditions 2022 is sure to remain an annual rite of passage for the group’s diehard fanbase known as “Stoopidheads”, as they travel the states, sharing good times with one another through music and community, as they have done since the band’s inception 25 years ago.

The 2022 edition of Summer Traditions kicks off in Bonner, MT on July 7, and routes the beloved So-Cal band throughout North America, including stops at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, Santa Barbara Bowl, Mann Center in Philadelphia, the Stone Pony Summerstage in Asbury Park, NJ ending with a massive hometown show at Petco Park in San Diego. All currently announced dates are listed below, with additional dates to be announced soon.

Miles Doughty exclaimed, “We're super pumped to hit the road this summer and finally bring the Summer Traditions Tour around the country!! Always a blessing to share the stage with our good friends Pepper, Common Kings, and Fortunate Youth. We’re looking forward to some epic collaborations on stage and are stoked to keep our summertime tradition going! See you soon Party People!”

Since 1995, Slightly Stoopid continues to be a musical brotherhood. Founded by Doughty and Kyle McDonald, two musicians determined to succeed on their own terms, the pair of long-time childhood friends, has created a multi-genre fusion of rock, reggae, and blues with hip-hop, funk, American folk, metal, and punk. Love, the Marley family, Snoop Dogg, and more.

Slightly Stoopid is currently riding high on their latest single “Everyday People (Headhunter remix)” featuring hip-hop legend B-Real of Cypress Hill, and long-time collaborator and friend G. Love (G. Love & Special Sauce). The track was produced by Miguel Happoldt (Sublime/Skunk Records) and George Spits (Llama Beats). The foundation of the remix is built upon a drum sample from Herbie Hancock’s Headhunters’ 1975 anthem, "God Make Me Funky,'' lending a brilliant jazz fusion and funk vibe elevated by B-Real’s (of Cypress Hill) fresh bars and coupled with G. Love’s original lyrics.

On June 24, Round Records & ATO Records will release GarciaLive Volume Six: July 5, 1973 – Jerry Garcia & Merl Saunders, the latest installment of the celebrated GarciaLive archival series. The three-CD set was recorded at the 200 capacity Lion’s Share club formerly located in the small town of San Anselmo, CA, just 20 miles north of San Francisco. The performance features Jerry Garcia performing with friend, mentor and legendary keyboardist/vocalist Merl Saunders. The duo is joined by drummer Bill Vitt and bassist John Kahn, who soon became a lifelong Garcia collaborator.

slightly stoopid tour songs

The first round of concerts for this summer's season at Oklahoma City's legendary Zoo Amphitheatre has been revealed.

With the historic venue under new management and undergoing renovations, its team announced Tuesday morning a diverse lineup of five shows for August and September.

On Aug. 2, the 90-year-old outdoor stage will host Rock and Roll Hall of Fame rapper Ice Cube and his "Legends of Hip Hop Tour" featuring E-40 and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony .

Grammy Award winners Blues Traveler and platinum-selling rockers Big Head Todd and the Monsters will perform Aug. 3 at Zoo Amp.

British New Wave stalwarts Howard Jones and ABC , along with platinum-selling Brit-funk band Haircut One Hundred , will turn Aug. 24 into '80s night.

On Sept. 1 , Dirty Heads and Slightly Stoopid will bring reggae-rock to the Zoo Amphitheatre .

“The Distance" hitmakers Cake will perform at the revamped OKC venue on Sept. 8.

More summer concerts at the Zoo Amphitheatre are expected to be announced soon.

OKC's Zoo Amphitheatre undergoing infrastructure updates

The venerable venue at the Oklahoma City Zoo is undergoing infrastructure and facilities updates before this year's outdoor concert season begins, with a focus on retaining the amphitheater's history and integrity.

Last month, it was revealed that the Zoo Amp has brought on a seasoned local management team with the backing of national partners SaveLive to produce the 2024 concert season and beyond. SaveLive also manages the OKC venues The Criterion, Tower Theatre, Beer City Music Hall and Ponyboy.

The Zoo Amphitheatre's storied history dates back to 1933, when construction started on the venue as part of the Civilian Conservation Corps , an economic recovery program established to provide jobs during the Great Depression.

Over the past nine decades, the amphitheater has hosted concerts by some of the top names in music, including Marvin Gaye, Willie Nelson, Chicago, ZZ Top, Grateful Dead, Sting, Dire Straits, the Steve Miller Band, Santana, Judas Priest, Joni Mitchell, Heart, Lynyrd Skynyrd and iconic Oklahomans the late JJ Cale, Vince Gill , the late Toby Keith and The Flaming Lips .

The newly announced shows will be the first concerts at the legendary venue since Oklahoma pop-punk band The All-American Rejects performed there last October.

When will tickets go on sale to this summer's Zoo Amphitheatre shows?

Tickets for the newly announced August and September shows at Zoo Amp go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, April 12.

A venue presale will launch at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 11.

To buy tickets, register for the presale and get more information, go to http://www.okczooamp.com .

Fans also can follow the venue on Facebook at facebook.com/okczooamp and on Instagram at instagram.com/okczooamp .
