UK Tourist Visa Requirements for Filipino Citizens

Today, I’m sharing here the UK tourist visa requirements for Filipino citizens or Philippine passport-holders.

I successfully got my UK multiple entry visa for the first time, and someone asked me to share in this blog the list of requirements for applicants applying in the Philippines.

The VFS Global (in Makati and Cebu) handles the visa application for the UK embassy. I got mine after 15 days after I attended the appointment.

Remember, the earliest you can apply for your UK tourist visa is three months before you travel . For example, if you plan to visit the UK on August 30, you can apply for your tourist visa as early as May 30.

Table of Contents:

UK Tourist Visa Requirements for Filipinos :

  • Application Form (this will be filled out and printed out via your online appointment)
  • PSA Birth Certificate (I recommend you submit the latest one)
  • Old Passport with visa and travel stamps
  • Bank Statement (latest 6 months)
  • Bank Certificate
  • Income Tax Return
  • Certificate of Employment
  • DTI Permit (with name and date the business started trading) – for self-employed
  • Mayor’s Permit (latest one) – for self-employed
  • Travel Itinerary
  • Hotel Reservations (you can book hotel reservations at this link without payment)
  • Roundtrip Flight Reservation
  • Certificate of Stocks Investment (optional supporting document)

The UK embassy requires the original documents for verification. In my experience, they returned my original PSA Birth Certificate when they delivered my passport with my visa.

For old passports and visa stamps, you can submit colored photocopies. You can pay for their Certification service to keep hold of your original documents.

The list of documents above is for the Standard Visitor visa, and it follows the checklist below:

UK Tourist Visa Requirements Checklist:

When you apply for a UK tourist visa, VFS Global will hand you a checklist you need to accomplish as you submit your UK tourist visa requirements. The checklist is for you to identify the documents you are submitting.

You can print out a copy of the checklist from the UK embassy website so that you can already fill it out before you attend your visa processing appointment at VFS Global.

UK Tourist Visa Application Form

You need to fill out the application form generated through your visa4uk account, which can be found when you set up an online appointment. As mentioned, you need an online appointment before attending it at the VFS Global office (visa application center).

I am British national with filipino, GF applying tourist visa to visit uk.   is it possible that I can use my UK bank statements as proof of income? to demonstrate proof that her living expenses are covered?  would it be recommended to open a joint account to show that she has access to funds in the UK? Any advice would be wonderful – thank you so much

Hi mate make sure your lady has a bank account, slowly help her build it up to around 60,000 pesos by telling her to put the money in you can send her ,put it in stages and not one lump sum i.e. 3 or 4 stages , build your UK bank account up also in the UK , once she has the Visa she can withdraw most of the money and give it back to you if this is what you decide on….I know all this is such BS but the UK government do not trust the FILIPINO people as this amount of bureaucracy self-evident , they think the Filipino will over stay and hide, this is what this is really all about mate, this is a sad fact, if she was Chinese or Japanese or Singaporean it is a simple 3 forms to fill in for a UK visa.. no one wants to really here this TRUTH but there you have it….also write an affidavit letter stating your going to also support your llady while she stays in the UK..

Hello to every one is there any one knows how to applying visa to go to the UK from philippines. .because me and my boyfriend decide I going visit him in his country. .what documents needed? Please help us :(we will appreciate it so much if there’s any one could help us..I will very thank I do much in advance 🙂

Hi! for the proof of financial support, can I just show ITR & Business Permit (self-employed)?

Hi 🙂 Also submit bank statement and bank certificate

Is it really necessary to show the GF has 60000 pesos in her account to be considered for a 2 week visa to UK. is it possible if the I can show that she has same equivalent in a UK bank account ?

Hi, as you mention above. “Remember the earliest you can apply for your UK tourist visa is 3 months before you travel.” — Im planning to travel on April 25. And im currently arranging it this month. Should I declare April 25 as target date in application? Is it possible on April 25? Does it have impact if earlier than 3 months?

Hi 🙂 Make your travel date May 25 if you want to apply on Feb. 20ish. You can make your travel date April 25 but it’s not following the before-3-months rule. The decision is yours 🙂

it is necessary to submit ITR kun ang sahod ay tax free?

Yes, if you have one, it is recommended to attach it to support your proof of financial income

Hi, I became an online tutor last October 2019 and I’m listed as an independent contractor. I don’t have a Certificate of Registration from the BIR or a Mayor’s permit but I do have my payroll bank account statement of account. I also have my 2307 from the agency I work for. Is that okay?

Yes, 2307 will be considered and you bank statement that shows your regular payroll.

Here is the BIG problem, 90% of Pinays have not got a business and “IF” they have a job the payment in the Philippines is so low, so never enough to save in a bank account, as for paying TAX in the Phils that is very rare also, having lived there on and off for 30 years, here is the tragedy, if you are Chinese or Japanese or Singaporean your UK visa will be easy to complete just a few pages, but the UK government have made it very difficult for Filipinos, as they basically do not trust you, and they think you will over-stay and go into hiding, sorry to be blunt, yes it is very unfair..Ray in the UK

I have to say you have moderated my letter when it was accurate this is censorship by the back door, I work for the British government, and I am not to happy about you doctoring my letter, the letter stated basically if a government give special privilege to different countries and make it extra difficult for some countries that is in respect belittling a race of people and giving other countries races privilege this is tantamount to being discriminatory and prejudice about a said country i.e the Philippines, political correctness is not needed on factual comments. I would expect hat from states like North Korea.

Hi po, I am not employed, I don’t go to work at all no business or anything like that will the bank statements be enough? TIA po

Hi, you need to prove financial capacity and financial status. Bank certificate is also required. If you have properties, it may support your application, too but only the embassy knows if they would approve your visa

If yoiu have a boyfriend UK open a bank account in the Phils, tell your BF to send you money but put the monery in, in stages and not one lump-load make it maye 4 or five stages to be up to 60,000 Pesos then copy it on A4 for the paper work needed…be wise …one big lump sum into your account they will not grant you a visa…Ray in the UK

Hi Ray, I want to know more information or idea in applying tourist visa in UK before I’m going to start my application next month. Plan to visit in UK by MAY 2020. Maybe you can help me in providing some details. Please send me email I would be glad hearing from you soon.

Hello, you never left your name/. anyway, I am Ray now back in Beautiful Norwich UK…there is a lot you must get correct, and it has to be done very accurately, this will be a team effort with you and your boyfriend, one BIG thing have you any pictures of you and your BF in the Philippines?…this is one of many items you need to have…e mail me on [email protected]

Mani, just see your name sorry..

the embassy confuses me..i am self-employed (sole prop), i provided all to them, itr, complete business registration and even business bank docs (copy of passbook). now they refused me for reason na hindi padin daw sila satisfied that i am earning kasi di daw ako ng provide ng pay receipts-i assume this is pay slips, why kasi need ko mag provide those, they had my business bank docs. they can see that there is in and out ng money..upon reading your blog and other blog pag self-employed yun na yung papers na need nila…huhuhu nakakaloka na si embassy..di ko na alam anong i provide ko.

Hi, I’m self employed. I submitted business docs (DTI and Mayor’s permit), latest ITR, bank certificate and bank statement (with the same balance). Bank statement shows the regular income I receive. I also attached latest 3-month payslip as proof where those income came from.

I’m just a filipino citizen, but if both of my parents are US citizens…will it be easier for me to get the tourist visa to England??

Hi, ELi 🙂 If you are a Philippine-passport holder, you still need a tourist visa to visit England and every visa applicant are equally required to apply. 🙂 God bless!

Hi. planning to visit my boyfriend in uk this dec wth my baby(his son). I dnt hve bank acct. Is it ok f i only show his bank statement as my sponsor? Its only 41 days vacation… do i really to pay full for my ticket reservation or only half ok coz its only reservation.tnk u and Godbless

Hi Cath, Is it ok to submit bank statement and bank certificate from my sponsor?

Do I need to buy travel insurance to apply for a visa? Also, I will be with a group tour, can I just present my deposit receipt from the travel agency in lieu of flight/ hotel reservation?

Hi! I am going to file for 3 application including mine…We are all seniors…can I samely declare that we are retired thus, we cannot produce ITR? Also, are the docs required need to be submitted online or during the interview itself? Thank u for your early reply

I have a boyfriend in london, but we dont meet yet personally, he wants me to go there, what we should do? What visa we need to apply for? Thnx

Tell him to visit you first in the Philippines, they wil not give you a visa on a dating and never met him policy I am Ray in the UK, just come back from Cebu, me and my mahal have a house there ..be dam careful okay.

Black n white ok for photocopy?

Hi, I have travel to Rome Italy next year but I’ll be travelling to London for one day only before heading back to Manila. Do i need to get a Tourist VISA as well to enter London? I already have a schengen visa approved. Thank you.

Yes, you do need it as UK is not in a Schengen area.

Do you submit colored photocopies or white n black? TIA!

I submitted colored

Hi its my first time to apply a Tourist visa and IM confuse, because i manage our own company but its a single prop and named to my husband, what should I do to prove them that I can sustain my stay in London Pls Help bit of confuse

Hi, you may submit latest ITR (Income Tax Return), bank statement, payslips, bank certificate and certificate of stocks investment if you have any

Is there a show money like in other country? Like for example my bank account should have at least a certain amount like 50k for few months. I’m planning to go there hopefully next year to visit my bf. But I don’t earn that much.

Hi, I am a Uk citizen so can I sponsor my girlfriends visit visa incase she can’t meet the income threshold etc?

Hi, Laz. Yes, follow the requirements for fiance visa

do you need a financial requirement to bring spouse to UK Filipino

I am a little confused as it states travel itinerary in supporting documents. However my flight to the UK is 40,000pesos. I have not booked a flight yet incase i do not receive approval ? Should i book the flight before my appointment ? If i do not get approved it means i have lost 40,000pesos ? Any advice ?

Hi, what I did was I made flight reservation (roundtrip), that way I did not have to pay for the full price of the flight. When my UK visa was approved, I booked and paid for my flight. You can do that from any travel agency you know

You can book without paying as a reservation booking, that way your name will be on a dated ticket and you can print it out…never pay before you get a visa okay …Ray in the UK

what kind of documents i will provide? planning to go in uk just to visit my friend, i am a plain housewife.

i think it is not necessary to provide a return flight reservation. it was mention on UK website that you should not send unless it is specifically requested. this is similar to Japan visa application ive made and i was approved.

I wanted to surprise my fiance but i dont know what visa im getting. I dont have any relatives living in uk. Pls help.. thank you

Hi My partner is living in China and she is suggesting to use travel agency to help her process the visa but they are insisting on top of the application fee of £93 that she has to pay for a medical certificate costing $230, a police check clearance document costing $180 , and pay for the flight in advance.

This doesn’t make sense. She’s a Filipino working in China why does she need to pay fir medical for Uk visa and if so why so much plus why does she need a police check? I’ve never heard of this before for visit visa?

Can you advise of all requirements and suggested fees if any?

Thanks Nick

Hello! 🙂 You mentioned on your blog you got your visa 15 days after you applied in VFS? Is this business days or like 15 days including holidays and weekends? 🙂

Hi its my first time to join a blog. id like to ask if would it bear a higher percentage of approval as a tourist for 10days in london when i included in my application the invitation to attend a convention for my husband in london come march 2019. thanks

the 6 month visa is that for 6 months from the date of approval or is it to allow you to stay upto 6 months over a few years in multiple trips?

Hi, it depends upon what was issued on your visa. The date of validity is written on the visa. You can stay in the UK within those dates. You can go to the UK multiple times if your visa type is MULT (Multiple entry) otherwise you can only go one time if it is a SINGLE ENTRY

UK Visa Application Guide For Filipinos

uk visa

Way back in 2016, I remembered there was a fake news circulating in the social media that Filipinos no longer need a visa when entering the UK. Some happy, some hesitant– that article caused confusion most especially to our “not-so-keen” Filipino travellers. Who wouldn’t jump out of happiness with this news? However, just like other countries, the UK also (and still) requires a visa for Filipino travellers whether we like it or not. So here’s our UK visa application guide to help you with your application.

UK visa vs Schengen visa

“I have a Schengen visa but why can’t I use it in the UK?”

I have heard stories of travellers not permitted to enter the UK even with a Schengen visa. This is also one of the misconceptions that some Filipinos need to know. UK visa and Schengen visa are two different visas. For starters, Schengen visa can only be used in countries that are members of the Schengen zone and the United Kingdom is not part of it. The same goes for the UK visa where it can only be used in the UK– England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.

Standard visitor visa

We are all aware that the UK has different types of visa and different terms and conditions apply to each of these visa types. The Standard Visitor visa is issued to applicants with the following purpose:

  • For travellers who want to explore the UK for a holiday or to visit family members and/or friends.
  • To attend business-related activities like conference, meeting,  and training.
  • To participate in sports or other creative events
  • To conduct or accompany a student for a  research or study abroad program.
  • To receive medical treatment
  • To take the Professional and Linguistic Assessment Board (PLAB) test or the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE)
  • To apply as an organ donor

How to apply for a UK Standard visitor visa

Applying for a visa to enter the UK is easy. So to give you an idea of the process, here’s a step by step guide on how to apply for a tourist visa in the Philippines.

  • Apply for a visa online
  • Book an appointment
  • Pay the visa fee
  • Appear personally and hand in your documents
  • Enrol your biometrics information

Wait for your visa

After you have completed the steps above, you can select whether to have your passport delivered to your home address or pick up the passport from the application center. The processing time usually takes 3 weeks or earlier.

Priority processing

If you want to get your passport faster than 3 weeks, you can avail the priority processing service for a special fee of PHP 12,328. With it, you’ll only have to wait for 5 working days to get the result of your application.

Passport Passback

There is also a special service that allows you to get your passport within the 15 days application processing period and hold on to it for a maximum of 10 days. This service is applicable for cases when you have an upcoming trip and you need to get your passport from the embassy. Within 10 days, you have to return it to the embassy to resume the processing of your visa. This service costs PHP 3417.

Status update via SMS

The Application center can also send you the status of your application through SMS with a fee of PHP 150.00. This can be availed on the day you submitted your documents.

Courier service

This is another type of service offered. For PHP 500.00, your passports can be delivered straight to your chosen address using VFA’s trusted courier, 2GO Courier services. You can also easily track down your passport using 2Go’s online tracking service.

UK Visa fee cost

For a standard visitor visa, you’ll have to pay  £ 87. With this visa, you can stay in the UK for up to 6 months. You can also apply for a longer validity of your standard visa:

  • 2 years – £ 337
  • 5 years – £ 612
  • 10 years – £ 767

Primary and Supporting documents to prepare

To give you a smooth and hassle-free application, be sure to prepare the following documents. For the supporting documents, make sure to have the necessary documents based on your situation. This is a case to case basis.

Note: If your documents are not in English or Welsh, you have to provide a translated copy of it.

Primary documents

  • Passport – must be unexpired and valid within the entire duration of your stay in the UK
  • Other travel documents

Secondary documents

  • Old passport or travel documents
  • Bank statement
  • Building society books
  • Employment certificate
  • Payslips for the last 6 months
  • Proof of sponsorship
  • Income Tax Return (ITR)
  • Leave of absence signed by employer
  • Letter from education provider confirming your enrolment and leave of absence
  • Business registration
  • Flight reservation
  • Hotel reservation/ Proof of accommodation from host
  • Detailed day to day itinerary

The embassy might also ask for the following information so better yet prepare these too:

  • Details of previous travel history for the past 10 years

  • Details (name, address, and passport number) of partner (if applicable)
  • Details (name, address, and passport number) of a family member in UK

How to Apply for UK Tourist Visa Online for Filipinos

The UK Tourist Visa is a requirement before a Filipino can enter the United Kingdom (England, Northern Ireland, Wales, and Scotland) and its territories.

The UK Visa that you can get may allow you to stay in the UK for a maximum of 6 months which you can use for a holiday, business trip, transit, or study a 6 months short course.

You can apply for your standard visitor visa 3 months prior to your planned travel schedule. The standard UK visa fee is 100 pound sterling or 6782.42 pesos per person. This is applicable if the exchange rate is 1 pound sterling equivalent to 67.82 Philippine pesos.

In this article, I will show you the steps on how I apply online for my UK tourist Visa with multiple-entry and 6 months validity. You will also know in this post the required documents that I upload online. Moreover, you will see here the actual sticker of my UK visa.

how to apply for uk tourist visa for filipinos

Step 1: Select your Visa Type and Visa Application Center

a. Go to https://visas-immigration.service.gov.uk/apply-uk-visa to select your visa type.

There are different visa types you can choose. As a Filipino tourist who plans to tour around the UK, you need to select between Transit or Visit Visa in the choices . Then hit the green“Next” button. Since you want to tour around the UK then you have to select Visit Visa.

b. On the next, page you will be asked to select the country to provide your biometrics

These are your photographs and fingerprints. In the given space, type “Philippines” as your location then hit the green “Next” button.

c. Identify your preferred Visa Application Center branch in the Philippines

UK has an official commercial partner in the Philippines which is VFS Global. For the UK Visa application, the aforementioned website will redirect you to VFS Global’s two branches which are located in Makati Metro Manila, and Cebu City.

If you are in Luzon, your option is to visit the VFS Global Makati branch, whereas if you are from Visayas or Mindanao, your option is to visit the Cebu branch.

Step 2: Start your UK Visa Application

a. Register your Email Address and create a password

In the given space, input your valid email address and create at least 10 characters long password. The latter must contain an upper case letter, a lower case letter, a symbol, and a number.

Make sure that you can access your email anytime because the UK visa immigration service will send a link to your email which you need to access every time you will sign in to your application.

b. Input your personal details in the given space which include but are not limited to the following:

  • First name and middle name (together in one box)
  • Contact details
  • Relationship / civil status
  • Home Address, Town/City, Province / Region / State
  • Postal Code (if applicable)
  • Country: Philippines

c. Upload your Supporting Documents

The documents that you will upload depend on what is requested of you by the UK.gov visa and immigration website. Moreover, this also depends on the information that you encode on your online application form. You can upload them either in JPEG or PDF format.

There are 3 types of documents that you need to upload to the visas-immigration.service.gov.uk website.

The first is the “Mandatory Document” which is your Philippine Passport. The latter should be valid, in good condition, and have at least one blank page.

The second is your “Other Documents” which the website strongly recommends that you provide along with your application. This depends on what is requested of you by the website.

The third is your “Other Supporting Documents” which you think are necessary to support your UK visa application.

To give you an idea here are the documents that I upload to the website during my UK visa application:

Mandatory Document

  • Philippine Passport

Other Document for Main Applicant

  • Evidence of Funds which is my bank statements
  • Employment Certificate from my employer

For the secondary applicant which is your family member (if they will travel with you and you will sponsor them)

  • Evidence of Support, for example, a bank statement
  • Evidence of Relationship, for example, a marriage certificate
  • Evidence that your sponsor is not, or will not be, in breach of UK Immigration laws at the time of your visit, for example, a certificate of employment.

Other Supporting Documents

  • Hotel Reservation in London
  • 3 consecutive months’ payslip

Note: Bring all the original copies of the documents as well as photocopies. All your documents must be in English, and the passport that you will provide must be original. If you will bring a document in Tagalog language, it must be certified.

d. Declaration form

Basically, signing the declaration mean that the information you provide and the documents that you upload to the UK.gov visa and immigration website are accurate and genuine to the best of your knowledge. You have to sign the form in front of the VFS staff when you visit VFS Global Philippines office.

Step 3: Pay the Visa Fee Online

For a standard UK visitor visa, the fee is 100 pounds or equivalent to 6782.42 pesos per person depending on the currency exchange rate.

Payment is done online. You can pay using your credit card/debit card (Visa or Mastercard). Once done, you will receive a reference number that starts with GWF.

You will use it to track your visa application. You also will use this reference number to collect your Philippine passport with the attached UK visa sticker on it.

Step 4: Book an appointment with VFS Global for Biometrics Collection

Once done with step 3, the website will redirect you to the VFS Global Philippines website to book an appointment online. Afterward, select your appointment date.

Once you are at the VFS Office, their staff will capture your photo and your fingerprint. They will also verify the documents that you upload to the “UK Visas and Immigration website”. So, bring the original copy of all the documents that you have uploaded to your account. You will also have to leave your passport with them.

When everything is done. The next thing you need to do is wait for the UK’s decision about your visa application.

The waiting time for the decision for the visa can take between 3 weeks to up to 6 months. The counting starts from the time you visit VFS. In our case, we got our visa in a matter of 2 weeks.

Step 5: Collect your Passport from VFS Global Philippines

Alright, you will receive an email or text message from VFS Global Philippines regarding updates about your UK visa application. Also, you will get an email when the decision is already made about your visa application, and when to collect your passport in VFS Global.

Here is my Philippine Passport with the attached UK Visa sticker on it:

Properly filled out online application form, original and photocopy of your valid Philippine Passport and your supporting documents.

The other requirements will depend on the information that you encode in your application.

How to Apply for UK Visitor Visa for Family Members in the Philippines?

If a member of your family such as your parents, spouse, or children will travel with you to the UK. Each of them must apply for a UK visa and pay the visa application fee. They also need to go to the visa application center for biometrics collection. But don’t worry because you can apply on their behalf if they cannot do it on their own.

Where are the Application Centers of VFS Global in the Philippines for the UK Visa?

There are two visa application centers. The first center is located in Makati at Chino Roces Avenue Extension, and the second center is located in Cebu in Samar Loop corner Cardinal Rosales Avenue, Cebu Business Park, Cebu City.

Note: These branches are for UK Visa. If you are applying for a visa bound to a different country, the latter’s respective immigration website may redirect you to other branches of VFS in the Philippines.

What to Wear during your Biometrics Collection at VFS Global

For male applicants wear a polo or polo shirt, jeans, and closed shoes. For the female applicants, wear a blouse with a collar, jeans, and closed shoes.

What to bring during your appointment at VFS

  • Printout of your appointment confirmation letter showing the details of your appointment
  • Valid Philippine Passport with 1 blank page on both sides
  • Printout of your checklist coming from the Gov.UK website
  • Original and Photocopy of your supporting documents (the one in the checklist)

Can I cancel my UK Visa Application?

Yes, as long as you haven’t provided your biometrics to UK’s commercial partner in your country. To cancel your application, sign in to your account from the email that UK.gov has sent to you. Go to Section 6 which is the “Further Action” and cancel your application.

Getting a UK visitor visa from the Philippines is straightforward because the filling out of the application form is done online. The difficult and time-consuming part is the collection of your supporting documents and visiting the visa application centers for your biometrics collection.

It would take you a minimum of two weeks to gather all the documents. For example, getting an employment certificate from your employers, and bank statements for your evidence of funds can take you 3 to 5 days.

Furthermore, we can all agree that Not every visa applicant is near Makati or Cebu. So you can not just go to these places on the day of your appointment because you will be late. Most often you need to book a hotel room near these two offices a day prior to your appointment schedule. What I am telling you is to carefully plan your UK Visa Application ahead of time.

How to Apply for UK Visa in the Philippines (Step-by-Step Guide!)

uk tourist visa philippines blog

London is an amazing city that’s full of history, offering visitors thousands of things to do. Here, you’ll find some of the world’s best architecture, galleries and museums. It’s the land of Harry Potter, the Beatles, James Bond and Sherlock Holmes!

To help you plan for the perfect trip to London, I’ve put together a step-by-step guide on how to go about the visa application process.

But before we get started, please note that a UK visa is not a Schengen visa and only covers England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. If you already have a Schengen visa, traveling to the UK will require a separate visa.

1. WHEN TO APPLY FOR A UK VISA

The rule of thumb is to apply 3 months before your intended date of departure to give allowance to iron out details, gather additional documents and, worst-case scenario, apply for another visa should you get rejected but still have time to apply a second time.

2. WHERE TO APPLY FOR A UK VISA

After determining the type of visa you need, you can now apply and create an account on the Visa4UK website that can be found here.

For this UK Visa guide, we’ll be tackling the   Short Term Standard Visitor Visa .

After verifying your email, you may start inputting all necessary information under the “ Apply For Myself ” page.

In applying for a Standard Visit Visa, you need to select the following under “Select Visa Type:”

• Reason for Visit: Visit • Visa Type: Tourism • Visa Sub Type: Visa – Tourism – 6 months

If you aren’t sure about a certain portion of the application, you are given the option to save your progress. Note that once you submit your application, there’s no way to re-do this. I made a mistake in my application and had to do the whole long process from scratch again. 🙁

That said, make sure all information is valid before submission.

Tip: If you have questions or doubts, you can apply with the help of your preferred travel agency. (Thanks Baron Travel  for answering my questions, double-checking my documents and assisting me on interview day.)

For the last part, you choose a date for your VFS appointment and pay via credit card to finalize the transaction. It costs around $126 ( ₱ 6,715.95).

Once you’ve successfully accomplished the online application form, you will be asked to choose an appointment date at the nearest visa application center. You can drop by either one of these VFS Global centers:

Manila VFS Global Services Philippines Private Inc., Mezzanine Floor Unit MO1, Ecoplaza Building, 2305 Chino Roces Avenue Extension,
Makati City, Metro Manila 1231

Cebu VFS Global Services Philippines Private Inc., 9th Floor, Keppel Center, Unit 905, Samar Loop
 cor. Cardinal Rosales Avenue,
Cebu Business Park, Cebu City 6000F

3. PREPARE THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Documents to be submitted to VFS Global need to be original copies. In addition, you will also need to present one set of photocopies. Here are the required documents you need—for printing on A4 size bond paper—to present for your application:

(The hard part comes after creating an account and logging in because accomplishing the visa application form is painstakingly long. I suggest you gather the following information before you start typing the details.)

* Passports and other Travel Documents • Current passport (Must be valid 6 months from intended travel date) • Current passport must have at least two pages for the arrival and departure stamps • Previous passports (if any) • Photocopies of: Front and back of current and previous visas, bio page of current visa and valid and expired visas • Travel history (visas, countries you’ve visited, arrival and departure dates and reasons for visiting)

* Proof of Income & Financial Capacity • Certificate of Employment • Original Income Tax Return • Bank Certificate • Original bank statement for 6 months • If self-employed: Original and photocopy of Business Name, Mayor’s Permit and DTI Permit • International credit card (if any)

* Sample Itinerary • Trip expenses (plane tickets, accommodations and daily expenses) and detailed day-to-day itinerary

* Flight Ticket Reservation • Better book a flight but not necessarily buy the ticket.

* Hotel Reservation • Book accommodations for your trip. You can also pre-book some of your accommodations via agoda.com. Just find an accommodation that offers free cancellation and temporarily book it to present as part of your application as we did.

* Leave Letter • This will help prove that you are currently employed and have reason to return to the Philippines.

* VFS Global Appointment Letter • After confirming your appointment, you will be sent a confirmation email. Print this out and include this in your application.

*(If Applicable:) • Invitation letter from Sponsor. • For minor, bring a sponsorship letter, parent’s bank certificate and original bank statement for 6 months.

*Just to be sure, I included these supporting documents in my application (not necessary): • PSA (former NSO) Birth Certificate (original & photocopy) • Parent’s passport and approved UK visas • Travel Insurance • Other investments

*I didn’t use: -Educational Evidence -Tuberculosis Certificate

4. ORGANIZE THE DOCUMENTS USING THE BARCODE SEPARATORS

uk tourist visa philippines blog

5. WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE DAY OF YOUR VFS APPOINTMENT AT VFS Global

*Important reminders on the day of your appointment: • Make sure to arrive 15 minutes before your appointment time. Entry is strict; best to be early. • Have the original documents and one set of photocopies ready to submit during the day of your VFS Global appointment. • Avail of the  ₱150 SMS Service to know the status of your application. • Wait for your turn at the biometrics section (fingerprints and photo to be taken). • Bring Cash! Upon entrance, you may need to leave your personal belongings including your phone in a locker (locker rental starts at ₱75). All you need is your application form and yourself.

*Hacks: -Because this was my second time at VSF, I was smart enough not to bring a bag anymore—just a folder and myself. I was allowed to bring my phone; so maybe ask the guard beforehand if you can bring it in. It can get boring while waiting for your turn.

uk tourist visa philippines blog

6. WHEN TO COLLECT

Once you’re done, you will be given a receipt that you should keep for documents collection later. You can choose to collect the documents in person at the visa application center or have them delivered by courier. I picked the delivery option, an extra cost of  ₱ 575 because I didn’t want the hassle of going back.

Visa processing usually takes 5 to 15 business days. However, you can also opt to avail of the Priority Visa Service that costs  ₱ 10,000 for your visa to be processed within 3-5 business days.

The wait is always daunting! But, thankfully it took only 5 business days for our visas to arrive!

Hello there!! Thank you for this blog post. It will surely help a lot of Filipinos. I applied 3 times already and denied for 3times also. I hope you can help me in understanding about why i always get denied.

Hi Ms. abi Hi po laking tulong po nito. i just want to ask po about sa addressee sa cover letter and sa bank if VFS po or British embassy/British consulate??? I’m planning to pass it in cebu po bci mas closer po kci sa akin.

I’m about to apply for a UK Visa this month and came accross your blog. I was just wondering if the barcode mentioned above needs to be placed in every page of the documents that you will submit? For example, bank certificate needs to have FINBS at the top of the page? as well as for the bank statements?

Hoping for your response. It will be of great help. Cheers! 🙂

Hi! Nope seperate ang barcode from your documents. use tha barcode to seperate by category ng documents mo. 🙂

Hiya. You didn’t mention about the scanning method. I’m wondering how it works. Which is much better DIY or do it at the VFS Centre? Thank you

Hi Abi I would like to ask if i select the option ‘Keep My Passport When Applying‘ service after the Biometrics section. So when have result i will bring my passport to VFS again to stick visa on it?

Hoping for your response. Have a nice day. Thanks in advance!

Yes, you would have to bring it back to stick on the visa when it is ready.

Hi, May I ask if you applied for a regular visa processing time (without priority) and got your visa after 5days? Thank you.

yes! regular visa lng. but it varies for everyone. luckily for us 5 days lng 🙂

Note: Don’t expect 5 days din sayo. It varies talaga.

Hi, I’m an online tutor. I’m independent contractor so I don’t have an employer. What documents can I provide as proof of income?

Hi, this is very informative! Thank you! There’s something that I am confused of. I am applying for UK visa, submitted application online and paid USD128. Then I was required to create an account with VFS to make appointment so I did. But when I reached the payment page, there’s this fee of around 3800 pesos that I have to pay. I checked if there’s any service offered by VFS that I added but there was none. Is this fee different from visa fee? Thank you for helping me clarify this.

You just need to pay the visa fee and use normal process. If you want to expedite there’s an additional handling fee.

Hi, so I’m having my application soon and I just realized that I made one careless mistake. I stated that I traveled previously to South Korea from April 12 – April 16 but in Reality I left South Korea a day later on the 17th of April. It’s shown as well in my visa that I left April 17th. Any tips you can give me? Do you think i should tell my mistake during my interview day?

I don’t think it does not really matters because they evaluate it in totality. But you get points for honestly.

I have a question since visa4uk is not available for application, the new website is “gov.uk” na for filling an application then after that you’ll be directed to “vfsglobal.co.uk” for appointment schedule, is this right?

and once your on” vfsglobal.co.uk” you’ll need to upload your required documents.. what I I’m having trouble is uploading all the documents… I’ve compressed everything total to 1.5mb from their required mb but I can’t still attach all my files. can I just skip the upload documents and just bring it there so I can book my appointment?

I’ve been compressing and attaching documents but they’re saying its still too big.. if I compress it some more writing on the document won’t be legible anymore. pls help me with this. thanks!

can I contact the embassy here in the philippines?

Usually, there’s no way to contact the embassy.

I don’t think it does not really matters because they evaluate it in totality. But you get points for honesty.

Hi Rafael! there is no interview for UK visa. 🙂 Just give papers, watch them scan, photo taking and taking your finger prints.

How much cost for visa phillippines to london??? Asnd the all requirements and need to have visa

Hello how did you get sample itinerary in your flight bookings?

Hi may i know how long does it take for it to be delivered? Like when they texted you ba that a decision has been made regarding your visa they delivered it immediately? Thank you in advance for the response!

Beware: DON’T FALL TO VFS GLOBAL TRAP WHERE THEY OFFER YOU THEIR UNNECESSARY SERVICES on their website.

Hi. Will apply for UK visa this month. Does the embassy require a print out of the appl form or just submit the form online?

Hello that barcode you put on, is that the one people have to use over and over again, the same one ?

Hello, may I know kung ano dapat ilagay under accomodation – permanent/temporary tska sa appendix II dun sa bar code separator?

Tanong ko lang po sana kung i-ho-hold po ba nila yung passport after visa application or i mean during visa processing? Thanks po in advance

Yes, but there’s an option where you hold on to your passport for a fee. Ibabalik na lang when the visa is ready.

Sir di ba it was mentioned above particularly in the item No. 4 – “ORGANIZE THE DOCUMENTS USING THE BAR CODE SEPARATORS” , correct me if am wrong, the purpose of this procedure base on what I understand is that they will not hold your documents whether photocopied or original during visa processing, is that right?

What makes this procedure significant is that once your documents are scanned using the bar code separator before turning at the counter for payment, then you can get your documents back with you because only scanned copies they will need for visa processing, am I right?

Hi po Can anyone answer my question Curious lang, Sa mga naka apply and approved na ang visa pano po yung sample itinerary? Like sa flight tickets without paying pano makakuha ng itinerary?

hello! this is so helpful. im planning to work in london and its gonna be my first time (if hired)

I’d like to ask , is their gooing to be an interview if u apply for work visa? and, how much would be the show money?or how much money is need for bank deposit?

your answers will be really helpful.. thank you so much!

We are not sure about work visa procedures po, just tourist visa.

Hi, Good day! Thank you for your informative details. Ask ko lang po if really necessary to have travel history to grant uk visa? and if okay to change the no. days ng stay once na sakaling ma-grant ang visa? Thank you in advance. 🙂

Travel history will of course be considered. On the number of days, as long as pasok sa visa duration that has been given to you.

Ibig sabihin po pag walang travel history hindi po maapprove sa Uk tourist visa? Tama po ba?

Hindi naman, depends pa rin and it would be the embassy who will decide.

Hi Anton/Abi, Just want to ask, do we need to bring print outs of the uploaded documents to VFS when we go there? Thanks!

Yes, you have to bring.

I’m actually at the uploading documents part of VFS now and I am confused as to where to upload the passport and travel histories because there is no option. Can you check where did you upload yours? This is the screenshot – https://imgur.com/a/BP99Suk

I don’t see an answer to this question. Can you share how you uploaded a copy of your passport and travel histories?

Please be careful. Not sure with this.

hi, if you will only stay in UK for a week or two, the Tuberculosis test is not required right? well just like to confirm.

Not sure, and it depends on what visa

Hi Sir, Ano po yung tinatawag na barcode separator? and paano po makapagbook na appointment sa VFS. Kailangan ko po ba magcreate ng account sa VFS?

Yes you have to create an account depending on the agency

How much should I have in the account and should it be there for A MINIMUM NUMBER OF months?

You should have funds in the account for months.

I applied for a UK tourist visa about a week ago. This week, I received a call that I was not able to answer. I tried to dial the number again and lo and behold, it was the British Embassy. Unfortunately, there was no way for them to check on my application for the reason for the call, nor was there any way for them to trace who called.

Any idea why they would have called? Can I expect to receive another call from them?

Good evening. Just wanted to ask something po, since I completed and submitted the application form already and paid for the 5 days priority service. Next step is to set an appointment but we are planning to just walk-in and pay the fee as needed. Question is, when I set my appointment as the next step po ba, am I required to upload all the documents , main and supporting documents? Can I just pay the service for scanning para sila nadin maglagay nung barcode separators? Masyado madami supporting documents kasi and first time to apply for the UK VISA pero madami po kami travels pero within Asia lang. I did visit Europe way back in the 90s. Now I applied with my wife for a tourist visa sa UK because I have an invitation po from a Football Team sa Premier League and they are covering all the expenses, including airfare, hotel and VIP tickets to the event.

Sila na po ba ang mag scan and separate ng documents nun?

Just submit the copies as support for your application.

Good afternoon po sir. I just got the email and text that my visa application was processed na daw, pero wala nakalagay na decision. since I opted for pickup, bukas pickupin ko po. Nakaka kaba naman. Pero let me share lang po, may naka book kasi kami trip na biz class tickets direct to London sa Feb 27 and return flight tickets nadin. Also hotels booked nadin and itinerary set forth and invitations po from a football team sa premier league.

Nakakatuwa at nakakapagtaka at the same time lang po kasi na binayaran namin ng misis ko was for priority service lang (5 business days processing). Submitted po all documents and application nung Monday (February 17) tapos now may decision agad February 19.

Medyo nakaka excite na nakaka kaba. Pero I think positive results naman siguro kasi wala naman kami bad history or records.

Just picked up our passports at VFS Manila kanina 2pm. VISAs granted! Yahoo!

What if It’s my first time to travel there? And I don’t have any income and don’t have a bank account cause my boyfriend is just the one who will sponsor my visit in there? Is there a possibility I can’t get a visa?

Travel together and take a chance

How to apply UK Visa? Please need your assistance. Thank you in advance for your reply.

Philippines

Entry requirements.

This advice reflects the UK government’s understanding of current rules for people travelling on a full ‘British citizen’ passport from the UK, for the most common types of travel.

The authorities in the Philippines set and enforce entry rules. If you’re not sure how these requirements apply to you, contact the Embassy of the Philippines in the UK .

To enter the Philippines as a visitor, you must have a ticket for your departure. Most airlines will not carry you if you cannot produce your departure ticket.

You must also register with the ‘e-travel’ system 72 hours or less prior to your arrival.

COVID-19 rules

There are no COVID-19 testing or vaccination requirements for travellers entering the Philippines.

Passport validity requirements

Your passport must have an ‘expiry date’ at least 6 months after the date you arrive.

Check with your travel provider that your passport and other travel documents meet requirements. Renew your passport if you need to.

You will be denied entry if you do not have a valid travel document or try to use a passport that has been reported lost or stolen.

Visa requirements

UK passport holders do not need a visa to visit the Philippines for 30 days.

If you overstay your visa-free 30 days without getting an extension , or if you overstay any visa without authority, it is a serious matter. You could face fees and fines, and detention if you cannot pay them, or you could be deported at your own expense.

If you want a visa to live, work, or study in the Philippines, you’ll need to meet the requirements of the Philippine immigration regulations . This includes having certain UK documents (birth certificates, marriage certificates, UK police certificates, school documents) legalised by the Legalisation Office (not by the Philippine Embassy in London).

Children travelling without their parents

If your non-Filipino children aged 14 or under are travelling without either parent, you must apply for a waiver of exclusion ground for entry into the Philippines .

Vaccination requirements

At least 8 weeks before your trip, check the vaccinations and certificates you need in TravelHealthPro’s Philippines guide .

Depending on your circumstances this may include:

  • a yellow fever vaccination certificate
  • a polio vaccination certificate

Customs rules

There are strict rules about goods you can take into or out of the Philippines . You must declare anything that may be prohibited or subject to tax or duty.

Taking money into the Philippines

You cannot bring in more than 50,000 Philippine pesos. If you are bringing in foreign currency (cash or cheques) worth more than 10,000 US dollars, you must complete a foreign currency declaration form on arrival.

Exit requirements

If you have stayed in the Philippines for 6 months or more on a tourist visa, you must get an emigration clearance certificate ( ECC ) during the 72 hours before you leave the country.

If you were in the Philippines on a visa issued by the Department of Justice ( DoJ ), the Board of Investments ( BoI ), the Philippine Retirement Authority ( PRA ) or the Philippine Economic Zone Authority ( PEZA ), you will need a travel pass from the department that issued your visa to leave the Philippines. If you have  an ECC , you do not need a travel pass.

Airport tax

If you’re leaving the country from Cebu Mactan airport you must pay a departure tax of 850 Philippine pesos in local currency or the equivalent in US dollars. There’s no longer a departure tax at Manila airport. This information can change and you should check with local authorities before you travel.
