This was such a great show!! I would definitely see him live again.

-great light display/props/theatrics

-he sang music from all his albums which was well appreciated!

-he interacted with the crowd

-he sings AMAZING live

-chill atmosphere

-performers/musicians were smoking weed on stage

-Abel took a longgg time to get on stage, we were there for almost two hours before he did

-crowd was very drunk & rude (not his fault)

-merchandise was very expensive (I payed $40 for a t-shirt)

This review might not be completely objective as Abel has been my favourite singer for a few years now. However, I can definitely admit the Starboy tour date in Paris was the best pop concert I've been to this year. Even though some songs could have been put out of the tracklist, he mostly sang his catchiest songs of his career, no matter the era. He has great, or should I say, tremendous energy as he continuously sang twenty-something songs with no pause in between. He has no trouble reaching high notes live, his voice sounding even more heavenly in real life. That night, he invited Travis Scott on stage who pumped up the crowd more than him, which is a shame and showcases very well his lack of success and recognition in France, yet, in a sold out stadium. Most people actually didn't even know his real name or the lyrics of his songs ! I would recommend any "real fan" who has known him for a while or who likes his last album a lot to go to a Starboy tour date. I promise you, you won't regret it.

The concert was absolutely stunning. A starship was used and the lights were coordinated very well. Abel sang amazingly in person and I loved jumping up and down screaming with other members of the audience while he sang. The concert was truly magical and I enjoyed every second Abel stood on stage.

As for the other singers who appeared on stage, I was very satisfied with their singing as well. They did an amazing job and captured the entire audience. In between Abel's music, the other singers such as Lil Uzi and 6lack played their hits on stage and the whole crowd became even more alive. If I the concert played out any other way, I'm sure I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as this concert.

The Weeknd will be supported by special guests Mike Dean and Chxrry22 on the upcoming tour.

Before reaching Australia and New Zealand, The Weeknd’s global stadium run has regularly been shattering records. The tour recently broke London Stadium’s attendance record thanks to 160,000 fans attending across two nights.

In France, The Weeknd’s shows in Nice, which sold 70,000 tickets across two shows, became the highest in the city’s history, while he became the first artist to sell out two nights at Milan’s Ippodromo La Maura in Italy.

A United Nations World Food Programme Goodwill Ambassador, The Weeknd – real name Abel Tesfaye – will again contribute funds from this new leg of his tour to the XO Humanitarian Fund, which supports the organisation’s response to the unprecedented global food crisis.

The Weeknd’s tour belatedly celebrates his 2020 album, After Hours , as well as his 2022 album, Dawn FM , both of which topped the albums charts in Australia and New Zealand.

The Weeknd is bringing his ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ tour to Australia in late November and early December 2023. The Canadian musician will perform at stadium venues in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne on his first visit to Australia in six years.

The tour gets its name from The Weeknd’s two most recent albums, 2020’s After Hours and 2022’s Dawn FM . The former included the single ‘Blinding Lights’, which US publication Billboard deemed the “top Billboard Hot 100 song of all time”.

The Weeknd – ‘Blinding Lights’

Earlier this year, The Weeknd’s Abel Tesfaye suggested he’s ready to abandon his professional alias . “The album I’m working on now is probably my last hurrah as The Weeknd,” he told  W Magazine . “This is something that I have to do. As The Weeknd, I’ve said everything I can say.”

“I’ll still make music, maybe as Abel, maybe as The Weeknd,” he added. “But I still want to kill The Weeknd. And I will. Eventually. I’m definitely trying to shed that skin and be reborn.”

Tesfaye recently starred as Tedros in the HBO series The Idol , alongside Lily-Rose Depp and Troye Sivan. He also co-created the show with Euphoria ‘s Sam Levinson and producer Reza Fahim. According to Forbes , the five-episode series was “by far” the “worst reviewed show” in HBO history.

The After Hours Til Dawn Tour , if you guessed it, celebrates The Weeknd’s latest two albums, 2020’s After Hours and his January 2022 release, Dawn FM . So far on this tour, The Weeknd has broken attendance records in London and Milan, selling hundreds of thousands of tickets all across Europe.

The tour announcement arrives three months after Tesfaye revealed that he’d no longer make music as The Weeknd . “The visuals are vital to my career,” he told W Magazine in May before admitting, “The album I’m working on now is probably my last hurrah as The Weeknd.

“This is something that I have to do. As The Weeknd, I’ve said everything I can say.” You can read the full interview  here .

The Weeknd Adds Three More Shows to 2023 Australian Tour

By Music Feeds

Tickets aren’t officially on sale yet, but demand for The Weeknd’s first Australian tour in six years has been sufficient to lead to the announcement of three more shows. The original announcement included one show apiece in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne – The Weekend will now spend an extra night in each city.

The tour begins at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on Monday, 20th and Tuesday, 21st November. The Weeknd will perform at Accor Stadium in Sydney on Friday, 24th and Saturday, 25th November, before wrapping up at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on Friday, 1st and Saturday, 2nd December.

The Weeknd – ‘Out of Time’

The Australian visit is part of the Canadian musician’s international ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ tour. The tour – which recently visited London’s Wembley Stadium – gets its name from The Weeknd’s two most recent albums, 2020’s  After Hours  and 2022’s  Dawn FM .

It’s possible Abel Tesfaye will never tour Australian again as The Weeknd, based on comments he made in an interview with W Magazine earlier this year. “The album I’m working on now is probably my last hurrah as The Weeknd,” he said. “This is something that I have to do. As The Weeknd, I’ve said everything I can say.”

He tempered the comments somewhat by adding, “I’ll still make music, maybe as Abel, maybe as The Weeknd. But I still want to kill The Weeknd. And I will. Eventually. I’m definitely trying to shed that skin and be reborn.”

Concrete Playground

Food & Drink

Arts & entertainment, design & style, travel & leisure, search concrete playground, the weeknd has added extra dates to his 2023 tour down under before general tickets even go on sale.

'The Idol' star will play second dates in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Auckland on his huge 'After Hours Til Dawn' tour.

The Weeknd Has Added Extra Dates to His 2023 Tour Down Under Before General Tickets Even Go on Sale

In a year already filled with huge tour news Down Under, Abel 'The Weeknd' Tesfaye dropping plans to hit both Australia and New Zealand before 2023 is out is up there with the biggest — and concertgoers clearly agree. The Canadian singer-songwriter and The Idol star only announced his Aussie and Aotearoa dates on Tuesday, August 22, and general tickets aren't due to go on sale until Friday, September 1, but he's already doubled the number of shows that he'll be playing in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Auckland.

This arena spectacular will now play two nights apiece in each of the four cities across November and December, with the second dates immediately after the first in every spot. The extra gigs will join a tour that's been notching up soldout shows far and wide. In the UK, The Weekend saw 160,000 folks head to London Stadium across two nights, smashing the venue's attendance record. And in Milan, he became the first artist to sell out the Ippodromo La Maura for two nights.

weeknd tour aus 2023

Those feats are just the beginning. In Paris, he scored Stade de France's biggest sales this year — and in Nice, the 70,000 tickets sold across his two shows are the most in the city's history. Will his Down Under dates add to his record-breaking run? Australia in particular has been loving the return of huge international tours. See: the Taylor Swift frenzy . And, if more shows are already being added to the 'Starboy', 'I Feel It Coming', 'Can't Feel My Face', 'The Hills' and 'Blinding Lights' artist's visit before the general on-sale date, fans are obviously mighty excited.

The reason for the extra Aussie and Aotearoa gigs is the massive demand during the Vodafone pre-sale. And the reason for the whole tour, other than just because, is to celebrate The Weeknd's 2020 record After Hours and its 2022 followup Dawn FM . Obviously, he'll be playing tracks from 2013's Kiss Land , 2015's Beauty Behind the Madness and 2016's Starboy as well.

weeknd tour aus 2023

In support across The Weeknd's four Down Under shows: Mike Dean and Chxrry22.

The tour will help a good cause, too, other than your need to see The Weeknd live. The artist has been contributing funds for his shows to the United Nations World Food Programme's XO Humanitarian Fund, as one of the organisation's Goodwill Ambassador, raising over $1 million from his Europe run alone.

The Weeknd Cancels Highly Anticipated Australian and New Zealand Tour

F ans of The Weeknd received disappointing news as the highly anticipated Australian and New Zealand tour has been officially canceled. The decision comes after the tour was initially postponed indefinitely in 2023, leaving many wondering about the fate of the concerts.

Scheduled to begin in Brisbane, the tour’s abrupt halt disappointed fans who were eagerly awaiting the chance to see the multi-Grammy award winner and Super Bowl halftime legend perform live.

With shows planned in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Auckland, the ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ stadium tour promised an unforgettable experience for music enthusiasts across the region.

Despite the setback, fans remain hopeful for future opportunities to catch The Weeknd in action.

While no reason for the postponement and now cancellation has been given, logistical challenges and ongoing uncertainties stemming from the global pandemic are likely factors.

Ticketek said in a statement that ticket holders will be receiving full refunds. They also expressed their desire to “work through the rescheduling process with the artist.”

For fans who had eagerly awaited the chance to see The Weeknd live in concert, the disappointment is palpable.

The Australian and New Zealand leg of the tour promised unforgettable performances, amplifying the impact of the cancellation.

The only silver lining for those who retained their tickets since the 2023 postponement is the promise of special priority purchase eligibility for any future tour dates announced by The Weeknd.

Amid the music industry’s ongoing struggle with the global pandemic, cancellations and postponements have unfortunately become commonplace.

The Weeknd’s cancellation serves as a poignant reminder of the persistent uncertainty confronting artists and fans alike in these unprecedented times.

For now, fans are left to cherish memories of past performances and eagerly await the day when The Weeknd will once again light up stages across Australia and New Zealand. Until then, the anticipation and excitement for his eventual return remain unwavering.

The Weeknd

The Weeknd’s postponed tour of Australia is now canceled and ticket owners will be refunded.

The Canadian R&B superstar had initially scheduled an 11-date stadium tour of Australia and New Zealand, winding its way across both countries last November and December.

“The Weeknd ‘After Hours Til Dawn Tour’ for Australia & New Zealand is still in process of being rescheduled,” reads a statement from LN, seen by Billboard . “Whilst we continue to work through the rescheduling process with the artist, tickets for the existing 2023 tour will be cancelled with all ticket holders receiving a full refund accordingly.”

Ticket holders of the The Weeknd’s ‘After Hours Til Dawn Tour’ shows who previously held on to their tickets will be able to access a priority purchase window for the new tour in Australia and New Zealand when announced, the message reads, linking to a priority waitlist . All current ticket holders will receive an automatic refund.

The tour was originally announced last August with just four shows, visiting each of Australia’s big three east coast cities — Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane — and including a single date in Auckland, NZ.

Additional dates were added last September , boosting the itinerary to 11 across both markets.

The Weeknd’s tour is scrapped as Australia’s festivals market navigates turbulent waters. In recent weeks, the 2024 editions of Splendour in the Grass, Mona Foma, and Groovin The Moo, with soft ticket sales playing a part in each story.

The inaugural Soundcheck report, published by Creative Australia, found the climate for operating a festival was a “highly complex” one, with event organizers challenged with myriad issues, from rapidly increasing costs, changing ticket buying behavior and more.

In the U.S., he has landed seven No. 1s on the Billboard Hot 100 and four No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200.

On Australia’s ARIA Albums Chart, published last Friday, April 19 , the Weeknd’s hits collection The Highlights lifts 8-4 in its 167th week on the tally. It’s triple-platinum certified in Australia.

The Weeknd’s Postponed Stadium Tour of Australia Canceled

Fans Down Under will have to wait a little longer to see The Weeknd on tour this year.

The “Blinding Lights” star’s postponed “After Hours Til Dawn Tour” throughout Australia and New Zealand has officially been called-off. Originally, the trek was slated to take place for 11 shows from November and December 2023, stopping in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Auckland. However, two weeks before the tour began, it was postponed “due to unforeseen circumstances.” At the time, organizers said the new dates would be announced for 2024, and new tickets would be valid for the new gigs.

However, a statement now confirms that although replacement dates were never announced, the 2023 tour will be cancelled while Live Nation works to reschedule the show. Ticketholders will receive an automatic refund.

Breaking: The Weeknd has cancelled his Australian tour

After postponing due to “unforeseen circumstances”, the Starboy has officially scrapped all of his sold-out shows

Leah Glynn

Nooo! After months of confusion following the announcement in November last year that the Weeknd’s After Hours Til Dawn tour was postponed due to “unforeseen circumstances”, it has just been revealed that the entire run of sold-out Aussie gigs have been cancelled.

The Weeknd (aka Abel Tesfaye) had been scheduled to play four epic shows at Marvel Stadium on December 1, 2, 4 and 5, 2023, with performances also confirmed in both Sydney and Brisbane. None of these will go ahead now, with Ticketek confirming that full refunds will be issued to all ticketholders

“Whilst we continue to work through the rescheduling process with the artist, tickets for the existing 2023 tour will be cancelled. All purchased tickets will receive a full refund,” reads a statement on the ticketing company’s website.

It’s expected that refunds will take approximately 30 days to appear in the accounts of ticketholders. And if the Weeknd does indeed decide to head Down Under again (c’mon, we gotta hold out hope), those people will be able to access a priority pre-sale purchase window for new tickets. If sitting in that stressful Ticketek waiting room is something you’d do all over again just to see the Starboy in real life, there’s a waitlist you can join here .

There’s been no word from the Weeknd himself regarding the Aussie cancellations, and he didn’t publicly comment on the initial postponement – so we’re not holding out hope for statement (or apology!).

All those tears you were saving for another day? Yep, it’s time to shed ‘em. We’ll keep you updated with new info as it comes in.

The Australian leg of a superstar North American artist’s world tour was in doubt but has now officially been canned. See what it means for ticketholders.

Canadian singer The Weeknd has officially cancelled his Australian tour.

The shows were originally set to begin in November last year and were indefinitely postponed at short notice but have now been canned and fans offered refunds.

Ticketek has told ticketholders that refunds would be issued however also said it would “work through the rescheduling process with the artist”.

Anyone who held onto their ticket from six months ago can get a priority purchase if or when a new tour is announced, but otherwise anyone hoping to see the singer will have to join the ticket queue all over again.

The multiple Grammy winner was due to play two shows in each of Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland as part of a global After Hours Til Dawn stadium tour from November 2023.

The show run was postponed two weeks before the first concert in Queensland.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, we must reschedule the Australia/New Zealand tour … Deeply disappointed but can’t wait to be there with you!,” the artist said in a statement at the time.

There has been no official statements explaining the postponement or now cancellation, but a host of Australian festivals have been cancelled in recent months because of costs and/or low attendance.

Regional touring festival Groovin’ The Moo, Splendour in the Grass and Mona Foma at the Museum of Old and New Art in Tasmania have all succumbed.

The Weeknd starred in fictitious HBO series The Idol, which was released in mid-2023. The show was led by Lily-Rose Depp as a troubled musician and was widely poorly received by critics.

The musician has revealed what he really thinks after becoming the subject of Taylor’s latest wrath.

Megan Thee Stallion’s former cameraman is suing the rap superstar, claiming she forced him to witness her having sex and other scandalous claims.

A British music icon has touched down on Australian shores just a few days after reuniting with her former bandmates.

The Weeknd Cancels Australian Leg of ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ Stadium Tour

The Weeknd has canceled the Australia & New Zealand leg of his tour

Last year in November, The Weeknd announced he was postponing the Australia & New Zealand leg of his ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ tour. Now that leg has been cancelled entirely with full refunds offered.

The original postponement was describes as ‘unforeseen circumstances’ and the cancellation email received by ticket holders does not give an official reason for cancellation. Instead, it offers to make all ticket holders whole and to continue working “through the rescheduling process with the artist.”

“The Weeknd ‘After Hours Til Dawn Tour’ for Australia & New Zealand is still in the process of being rescheduled,” the email to ticket holders begins. “Whilst we continue to work through the rescheduling process with the artist, tickets for the existing 2023 tour will be cancelled. All purchased tickets will receive a full refund.”

“Ticket holders of the [cancelled tour] shows who previously held on to their tickets will be able to access a priority purchase window for the new tour in Australia and New Zealand when announced. In order to gain access to the priority pre-sale, please make sure you opt-in and join the waitlist.”

“Tickets will be automatically refunded in full (including refundable ticket purchases, if applicable) to the original payment method used for purchase and patrons do not need to take any action. Patrons should allow 30 business days for the refund to appear in their account.”

Prior to this cancellation, The Weeknd has not visited Australia in six years while touring. A peek at the official site for The Weeknd’s tour reveals there are no upcoming events—so Australian fans are out in the cold on this one yet again. Despite the cancellation, Abel Tesfaye has yet to post about the cancelled dates on social media. His most recent post is an Instagram post from April 13, insinuating that a new album will be dropping soon.

Fans stopped by social media to take their pot shots. “Bro completely forgot about his Australia tour,” one fan writes under the album announcement post.
