★★★★★ "I really liked the idea of the competition with the orange coins! The girls were very engaged. Really nice terrace with the camping tables, the roof, fridges, the sunbeds. – Mario Baez (Teacher) The place was so cute and cosy!! The kitchen place is really nice and the rooftop was so comfy to relax and enjoy the weather. It was all very cute – Teni Adesanya (Student) It was amazing! Muchas gracias!! – Helena Emery (Student) I would like to thank everyone who works at Spark. They all made the trip extremely enjoyable – Georgie O’Brien (Student) We are so pleased that Benenden School enjoyed themselves at Spark! Want to read more school trip reviews? "
★★★★★ "This is the second time that I have taken a group of Upper 4 to Spark and I can’t recommend it enough! For us being all in the same building means that students could enjoy being together and sharing dorms whilst us teachers could check on them and could benefit from having spacious rooms with an ensuite bathroom. Inge’s and Doug’s organisation and hosting was impeccable: they took account of all our students’ medical and dietary requirements, including the last minute ones and they checked in with us on a regular basis. The beauty of this trip was that we had a local Chaperone available 24/7, who knew the area really well, and that took some pressure off from me as a trip leader. Our Chaperone was also one of the teachers, which meant our students got really attached to him by the end of the stay. They were also motivated to speak in Spanish as much as possible as they knew they would be rewarded with tokens and there would be a prize at the end for the best team. There was a nice variety of activities: in the morning our pupils had lessons, which meant us teachers were able to relax and explore El Puerto, and in the afternoon we did something different everyday, being it visiting Cádiz, Sevilla or making paella. There was something for everyone! This is the fifth year we have run this trip and even students who came five years ago and are now in their final year at Headington still ask if they can go back to El Puerto! -Diana Bonifaci (Teacher/Trip Leader) We had a great time and our stay was very comfortable. -Anna Bellera (Teacher) My school trip was even more enjoyable with all of the people who helped out so thank you!!! – Sophie Tyler (Student) It was a really good trip, we’d definitely come again! -Phoebe Potter (Student) Really enjoyed it, learned a lot more than expected. – Mia Vedral (Student) It was very good, interesting and fun – Maia Johansen (Student) "
★★★★★ "Tom enjoyed the Spanish trip so much, he wants to take us to see El Puerto de Santa Maria. Tom really enjoyed his trip out – his host family were lovely. (Parent of student)) "
★★★★★ "The trip in all was magnificent we had a terrific time. Everyone of the staff was very generous and thoughtful. I adored the beach. – Sophie (Student) The tour to the castle in Spanish was a challenge for the kids but the guide did really well. Children got the information easily. – Ms.Diaz (Teacher) The building is very bright which is good and the meals are delicious – Neslihan( Student) It was a wonderful trip and I want to come back next year! – Ms.Nugent (Teacher) The class was fun and enjoyable- Abby (Student) It was fun I liked the activities and I would definitely come back – Luke (Student) I had so much fun it was one of my favourite trips- Amelia (Student) The meals were nice so was the building and the residence was fabulous – Nia (Student) "

7 places for fantastic school trips in England
2020-03-13T16:34:00+00:00
With the Coronavirus affecting school visits abroad for now, there’s plenty of top attractions closer to home for future planning towards the end of this year and into the next.
1. Woburn Safari Park, Bedfordshire
Celebrating its 50th year in 2020, Woburn Safari Park offers pupils a space to learn about and get closer than ever to animals. With a dedicated education team and strong links to different aspects of the National Curriculum, there’s always something to see on a visit. Schools can take a drive around the road safari, with tour guides also available to point out animals on your way around if pre-booked. Afterwards, there’s still plenty to see on the foot safari including sea lions, lemurs and penguins. Bespoke teaching sessions or special talks are also available.
2. We The Curious, Bristol
Ever wondered what the planet Mars is really like? The team at We The Curious can bring to life those thoughts, on one of its Earth to Mars workshops which sees pupils design their own robot ‘rovers’ to be deployed on a replica Martian landscape. These robots will collect scientific data, such as methane levels and temperature readings that will then be analysed by the group to determine where the best conditions for life are located. School groups can also opt for other sessions and take in the two floors of hands-on exhibits.

Pupils can use their specially-built rovers to record scientific information at We The Curious.
3. Jane Austen’s House Museum, Hampshire
Education visits to Jane Austen’s House Museum in Chawton help pupils see the only place where one of England’s most famous writers lived and wrote. It is widely considered the most treasured Austen site in the world, as it was in this country cottage that Jane produced all of her novels including the iconic Pride and Pejudice. Pupils visiting the house can make use of trips that are directly tailored to suit their needs. Exhibitions and displays can be found alongside in-depth information panels and family objects, housed in the rooms that Jane would have known.
4. Warner Bros. Studio Tour - The Making of Harry Potter, Hertfordshire
For a magical experience the whole class will never forget, not many attractions compare to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour - The Making of Harry Potter in Leavesden. School visits include a complimentary 45 minute lesson, planned and taught by qualified teachers in a purpose-built classroom, as well as entry to the tour, a free green screen broomstick experience and teaching resources. New for this year is the Celebration of Slytherin event, that will see the Great Hall decorated in the house’s colours for the first time and a new set recreated. You can see what to expect on a school visit below.
5. Hampton Court Palace, London
The imposing Hampton Court Palace in Richmond has stood alongside the River Thames for centuries and is probably best-known as the home of Henry VIII. History is brought to life at the palace, with visiting schools able to take part in hands-on learning sessions that have been designed with the help of teachers. The historic site also offers SEND programmes of study, whether it be in the Tudor kitchens to learn about how great feasts were prepared or the artwork within the palace.
6. National Space Centre, Leicestershire
To make the most of a visit to the National Space centre in Leicester, teachers can organise a fun and informative workshop which includes activities linked to the National Curriculum guidelines. Whether it be understanding forces through its rockets workshop or planet Earth in its dedicated session, there’s lots on offer linking to Key Stages 1-4. Even the building itself is an impressive sight, shaped like rocket and standing well over 100ft in the air.

Students can see a whole host of objects at the National Space Centre.
7. National Football Museum, Manchester
Six interactive games at the National Football Museum are included in the admission price, whether it be testing your reflexes as a goal keeper or taking part in a commentary challenge. Guided tours and special sessions help bring pupils understand the vast collection in front of them which tells the story of the sport.
