Nationals of these countries do not require a prior visa when visiting Qatar , and can obtain a visa waiver on arrival to Qatar, upon presenting a valid passport with a minimum validity of six months and a confirmed onward or return ticket.

In the year 2020, Qatar made a series of reforms to its employment regulations eversince it was chosen to host the 2022 World Cup. Qatar has scrapped the mandatory exit permits otherwise required for migrant domestic staff and other groups, as part of its efforts to boost rights for guest workers.  Earlier, all foreigners working in Qatar had to obtain authorization from bosses to leave, but now only military people will routinely require such a dispensation.

Qatar has also done away with exit visa requirements for foreign workers including oil and gas workers, civil servants and employees of government bodies including Qatar Airways.

Currently, a domestic worker can enter and exit the country without having to submit their employer’s permission.

It is now possible for nationals and residents to purchase an e-gate card prior to going on vacation. This can help avoid normal immigration hassles. The e-gate card can be inserted at the e-gate and you can place your finger on a biometric scanner. These cards can be obtained at the airport immigration office, located opposite the airport. However, make sure that you carry your ID card with you. The use of e-gate is free. There is no need to pre-register before you use the e-gate. It can be used when arriving or departing from Qatar. ID card holders over the age of 18 can use this.

Kindly note: Visa rules are subject to sudden change without warning. Kindly contact the embassy in your country or the relevant authority in Qatar, as that is the only source of information that can be relied upon. The validity period of a free visit visa on arrival is also subjected to change often. ;

21 Beautiful Places in Qatar

Picture this: a place where futuristic skylines meet awe-inspiring landscapes and ancient souqs. Welcome to Qatar, a country that has emerged as a vibrant blend of modernity and tradition in the Middle East. While it’s bursting at the seams with ancient heritage, the country has self-identified as an architectural wonderland against the stark Arabian desert landscape.

Qatar is a haven for luxury-seekers. One look at the cars that line the roads, and you’ll see what I mean. Travelers flock to visit its world-class museums, taste the incredible food, marvel at the city’s architecture, and visit the islands of the Persian Gulf.

It’s safe to say that there is a lot to see here. A quick Google image search will show you that the most beautiful places in Qatar showcase the ever-evolving natural landscapes mingling with innovative modernity. And oh my, is it uniquely beautiful!

We’ve put together a list of twenty-two beautiful places in Qatar:

1. Brouq Nature Reserve

2. national museum of qatar, 3. al zubarah fort, 4. banana island, 5. state grand mosque, 6. al thakira beach and mangrove forest, 7. fuwairit beach, 8. al karaana lagoon, 9. the doha desert, 10. khor al adaid, 11. porto arabia, 12. souq waqif, 13. mia park, 14. barzan towers, 15. museum of islamic art, 16. al safliya island, 17. al wakrah beach, 18. katara cultural village, 19. qanat quartier, 20. dahl al misfir cave, 21. ras abrouq rock formations, how to see beautiful places in qatar, final thoughts on beautiful places in qatar.

Brouq Nature Reserve

At the tip of the Zekreet Peninsula, just a short drive from the capital of Doha, you can find yourself in a nature reserve characterized by a coastline of sandstone cliffs. In Arabic, the name Brouq translates to ‘head,’ which in English would refer to the ‘Cape’ of a peninsula.

As you might expect, the park is also home to its fair share of archaeological sites. In fact, you’ll find one of the most extensive Neolithic sites in the world here, where plenty of Ubaid pottery, tools, and chambered burial monuments have been excavated.

Ras Brouq’s white cliffs are no doubt the most impressive geographic attraction in the park. Made from soft white limestone, these iconic rock formations sculpted by the erosion of centuries of wind offer a glimpse into what the area would have looked like millions of years ago. You can just imagine the nomadic tribes that might have made their way through the region.

While in the park, make sure you pay a visit to the East-West/West-East sculpture. It’s a magnificent structure commissioned by Sheikha al-Mayassa al-Thani of Qatar and designed by Richard Serra. It is made up of multiple steel plate sculptures that span over a kilometre to showcase the vast and desolate space of the desert.

As I’ve mentioned, Qatar is famous for its incredible architecture and modern building techniques in a harsh desert environment.

It might not be the most traditionally beautiful place in Qatar, but there is no denying the magnificence of the building housing the National Museum of Qatar. Built in 2019, the complex was built by a famous French architect to look like a desert rose. It was built around the centrepiece of Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani’s original palace, his family home, and the seat of the Qatari government.

The architect wanted to emphasize the important connection between the desert and the people of Qatar. After all, this landscape really has shaped the nation. He was inspired by the salt and mineral formations commonly found in the desert in the Gulf region, known here as a crystalized ‘desert rose.’

National Museum of Qatar

The building was built using steel truss discs and then clad with over 76 thousand reinforced concrete panels. It’s a magnificent structure to check out.

Seriously, you’re going to want to dedicate a day to this museum – stay in Doha for at least one night to check this and the other inner-city bits out.

The gallery spaces are designed to engage all the senses while telling stories of the Qatari nation. There is also a park, which includes playgrounds, artwork, and a garden for a breath of fresh air.

Located on the northwestern coastline of the Qatar Peninsula in the ancient town of Zubarah is Al Zubarah Fort. This place is actually Qatar’s largest archaeological heritage site. It’s known for being the best-preserved example of 18th to 19th-century trading and pearl farming in the Gulf Region.

Centuries ago, the fort was founded and ruled by the Al Khalifa branch of the Utub tribe. Their plan was to build a thriving town with a safe harbour. Safe to say, their plan worked. The fort and port became one of the central pearl trading centres of the time.

Al Zubarah Fort

Unfortunately, its prosperity drew negative attention, and after a few attacks, the town was burnt to the ground in 1811. Today, the remains include various mosques, madabis (date presses), a market, and the Al Zubarah Fort.

While many towns of similar heritage have been buried under moving sand dunes or modern metropoles, Al Zubarah stands tall and proud as one of the most unique places to visit in Qatar. No wonder it’s registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

A simple stroll through the complex, marvelling at the one-meter-thick walls of traditional Arabian architecture and the central courtyard where soldiers would assemble, is enough to take you back to a time of armies and Arabian princesses.

I bet you didn’t think Qatar had its own version of the Maldives along its shoreline. Located just off the shoreline of the capital of Doha, Banana Island is Qatar’s answer to Dubai’s The World. However, instead of offering permanent housing in the city, the island is a resort dedicated to all things relaxation and thrill.

Banana Island

Just twenty minutes from the mainland, Banana Island Resort Doha is an Anantara property that offers a taste of traditional Qatari hospitality in an incredible resort setting. Here, you can stay in Qatar ‘s first and (so far) only overwater villas. No wonder people call this the Maldives of Qatar.

It might not be the most affordable place to stay, but it certainly is one of the top ten places to visit in Qatar. Also, let’s be honest: this isn’t really the destination for a budget holiday in the first place. But if it really isn’t in the budget, there are options to purchase a day pass and enjoy the tropical sensory overload for a day.

Spend a day on the lavish beachfront as the waves lap against the soft golden sand and enjoy a meal at one of the five-star restaurants dimly lit by lanterns as the sun sets below the horizon. Talk about paradise!

Welcome to the State Grand Mosque. Located in the Jubailat district of Doha, overlooking the city from a hill, it’s the biggest, most impressive, and easily the most beautiful mosque in the country.

Also known as the Imam Abdul Wahhab Mosque, this exquisite religious complex is one of the best examples of modern Qatari architecture. Architects designed the building to blend tradition and modernity. It features aspects of ancient Arabic influence meeting modern simplicity and building techniques.

Inside the mosque, there are three libraries, separate prayer halls for men and women, and special halls dedicated to the memorization of the Quran. All in all, a whopping thirty thousand worshippers can fit in the mosque at one time.

State Grand Mosque

It’s a beautiful structure to admire, whether you have any religious connection or not. Just make sure to dress conservatively, remove your shoes in prayer halls, and respect any worshippers during your visit.

Built from local sandstone, the mosque features a succession of arches and domes, coloured marble floors, and impressive corridors, all lit by dim, warm lamps when the sun goes down. Fun fact: there are exactly 93 domes in the mosque.

One of Qatar’s oldest and largest nature reserves, Al Thakira Mangrove Forest is one of the most exquisite natural landscapes in the country. It’s a huge contrast from the rest of the country, which is predominantly made up of baron deserts. So, it’s a real welcome to find a thriving forest of salty tree branches and skinny root systems.

To make things more dramatic in this beautiful place in Qatar, the forest is just a short drive from the industrial sector of Al Khor.

Al Thakira Mangrove Forest

Considering the harsh environment characteristic of the region, the diversity of mangroves, flora, and fauna is still pretty limited compared with other parts of the world. That said, this particular forest is known for the Avicennia Marina. This is a white or greyish mangrove species native to the Persian Gulf area.

The ecosystem includes underground roots covered by salt and seaweed, known as pencil roots. They work a bit like a snorkel and attract a bunch of interesting birds, including herons and even flamingoes.

The best way to explore the mangroves and appreciate the flora and fauna is by kayak. There are a few tours that operate around sunrise, including all the equipment, safety training, and guides you might need. Just make sure you don’t walk through the forests since stepping on pencil roots can completely destroy a tree’s root system!

Perched on the northeast coastline of Qatar in the al Ghariya municipality, Fuwairit Beach is one of the top ten best places to visit in Qatar . It is famous for its abundant turtle population, which lays eggs between April and July. These incredible creatures, which are as big an attraction as the azure blue water and soft sand, return to the beach for up to 30 years to lay their own eggs.

As of February 2021, this popular tourist beach become a conservation area and sanctuary for turtles and birds. So it’s good to keep in mind that the beach is closed during breeding months.

Fuwairit Beach

The sandy bay dotted with rocks is just a couple of hours’ drive from Doha and offers all the normal beach activities you might expect. The water is calm and shallow, making it a great place for families to swim and kids to play around in the water.

Sunrise and sunset are the most spectacular hours on the beach when the entire landscape is painted a hue of pastel watercolours. If you’re lucky, you could even spot dolphins making their way down the coastline.

The beach has no washroom or restaurant facilities, so come prepared for a self-sustained beach day. Beach bats, balls, and volleyball nets are welcome! Just a few meters from the main beach, Jebel Fuwairit Beach is a quieter and arguably even more beautiful beach.

If you’re a fan of nature conservation and green spaces, you’re in for a real treat. One of the few naturally green areas in the desert country, Al Karaaka Lagoon is easily one of the most unique places to visit in Qatar.

Unique why? Well, not only is it an oasis in a desert, but the origins of the lagoon are pretty wild, too. It’s just a short distance from Doha and was once home to ten separate lagoons that were used to receive industrial wastewater. Yuck! After years of this, the lagoon became contaminated and layered with a sludge of dirty soil that was harmful to the local wildlife. More yuck!

Al Karaana Lagoon

Fast forward ten years and an extensive restoration project, and the area contains three lagoons of clean, treated water, home to an abundance of wildlife and fish. It’s surrounded by a ring of healthy soil that fertilizes reeds and plants. Much better!

It might be artificial and come with a dirty background, but today, the lagoons are an oasis of birds, fish, local wildlife, and flora in the middle of the desert. It’s a hotspot for photographers and bird watchers in particular, but it is well worth a visit for anyone with a passion for nature rehabilitation.

There is no place more quintessentially Qatari than the desert. The undulating sand dunes that stretch seemingly neverending into the distance offer one of the most beautiful views in the Middle East.

Not only are the dunes damn pretty to look at, but they’re also a hotspot for plenty of recreational activities. Of them, you can enjoy dune buggy tours for a spot of adrenaline, hike over the hot sand for a bit of exercise, or even sandboard down the steepest dunes.

The Doha Desert

Joining a desert safari to Khor Al Adaid, which is only accessible by 4×4, is an experience not to be missed. Heck, you could even parasail in some areas.

One of the most magnificent ways to experience this vast desert landscape is to spend a night in and amongst it. The tradition of Bedouin tribes, who would move across the landscape following animal feed and water, is heavily embedded in Qatari culture today. There are plenty of Bedouin camps where you can spend time in the desert, ranging from ultra-luxurious camps to budget-friendly ones. Not only beautiful, but the experience of a lifetime!

tbbteam-gear-MSR-Hubba-tent

Here at The Broke Backpacker , we love freedom! And there’s no freedom as sweet (and CHEAP) as camping around the world.

We’ve been camping on our adventures for over 10 years, so take it from us: the MSR HUBBA HUBBA is the best damn tent for adventuring…

I know I mentioned it above, but Khor Al Adaid is totally worth its own mention as one of the most beautiful places in Qatar . The beach is pretty much a lake in the middle of the desert. One glance at this beach, and you might think you’re in the tropics. Soft honey-coloured sand from the desert merges with turquoise blue water and is honestly one of the most tranquil and relaxing environments in the country.

Around the water, the dunes can reach incredible heights of up to 40 meters. The best way to experience these dizzying dunes is by 4×4, where you can literally roll and slide over the ever-changing hills.

Khor Al Adaid

Khor Al Adaid is a UNESCO Natural Reserve, regionally referred to simply as the ‘inland sea.’ It’s an incredible landscape formed by a unique geological process that creates a type of salt lake that experiences tide-like water level fluctuations. It’s a whole story, but it is certainly worth learning a bit about if geography interests you.

The entire area is uninhibited and wild, home only to the odd oryx, gazelle, flamingo, and waterfowl. Keep a keen eye out if wildlife spotting is your thing!

Porto Arabia

Porto Arabia is the beating heart of The Pearl Island. It’s a beautiful man-made neighbourhood with a mix of indoor and outdoor shopping centres, resorts, hotels, and upscale residential apartments. Why is it beautiful? Well, it’s designed to look like a Mediterranean village. Enough said!

Souq Waqif

This marketplace would top the list of just about every Qatari bucket list, and for good reason. The souq was once a trading place for Bedouin tribes, who would bring sheep, goats, and wool to sell. Today, the market is an intricate network of streets and alleyways with traditional mud-rendered shops and exposed wooden beams amongst beautifully restored Qatari buildings.

Mia Park

One of the most beautiful places in Qatar to spend with friends, Mia Park is a family-friendly outdoor park that hosts plenty of year-round activities, from movie screenings to sports events to markets. As you sit on the well-kept lawns, you’ll be able to admire wonderful views of the waterfront and the impressive Museum of Islamic Art.

Barzan Towers

Part of a 19th-century defensive system to protect the region, the Barzan Towers are two beautiful examples of Qatari architecture. The watch towers may even have been built near the sea to watch over pearl divers and keep an eye on any approaching ships.

They were originally built using coral rock and limestone, with a wooden draining system characteristic of the local architecture.

Museum of Islamic Art

I know, I know, another building. But truth be told, Qatar’s buildings are one of the country’s most beautiful assets. The Museum of Islamic Art is located on an artificial island in the Persian Gulf and is exquisitely designed and influenced by traditional Islamic architecture – clean lines and geometric patterns.

Al Safliya Island

Just off the coast of Doha, the uninhabited island of Al Safliya is a natural paradise with pretty much nothing but beautiful nature to enjoy. Walk the length of the sandy beach, swim, paddle board, jet ski, or lounge around as the turquoise gulf water laps against the sand. It’s also an epic place to view the skyline of Doha.

Al Wakrah Beach

If it’s tranquillity that you seek, Al Wakrah Beach is the place to be. This beach and cafe-lined promenade offers some of the most picturesque coastal views in the country. It’s a beautiful place in Qatar for families, couples, and friends.

Active Roots Security Belt

Stash your cash safely with this money belt. It will keep your valuables safely concealed, no matter where you go.

It looks exactly like a normal belt  except for a SECRET interior pocket perfectly designed to hide a wad of cash, a passport photocopy or anything else you may wish to hide. Never get caught with your pants down again! (Unless you want to…)

Katara Cultural Village

Built to showcase Qatar’s cultural significance, the Katara Cultural Village is a manmade attraction that is just as beautiful as it is educational. Sure, you can learn about local art, theatre, literature, and music, but how about you admire the exquisite architecture and intricate mosaic work?

Qanat Quartier

Venice fans, this one is for you. Built as a replica of the Venetian canals, Qanat Quartier on Pearl Island is where Italy meets Arabia. Hop on a water taxi and cruise through the canals, admiring the Italian-inspired buildings and bridges.

Dahl Al Misfir Cave

A natural landmark of the Rawdat Rasid area, this cave structure is just a short drive from Doha. The natural cavernous structure was formed as long as 500 thousand years ago and is packed with fibrous gypsum crystals that hang overhead. It’s the largest and deepest cave in the country, not to mention one of the most unique places to visit in Qatar.

Ras Abrouq Rock Formations

White limestone cliffs descend into crystal clear water at the Ras Abrouq Rock Formations. Wind and erosion have created this stunning and unusual landscape, made famous for its mushroom-shaped hills and caverns.

It’s surprisingly smooth sailing getting around Qatar. Getting around Doha (the capital city) is super easy using the metro system. Doha Metro connects key spots in the city and costs less than $1 for a single trip. Convenient and budget-friendly – just our luck!

Across the country, the primary way to get from A to B is by car, and since roads are new and well-maintained, this is a breeze. Taxis are more expensive, costing around $5 to $10 for a short trip within Doha and more for longer trips.

Renting a car is your best bet for venturing beyond city limits. Car rental prices range from $20 for a compact vehicle to $40 for a luxury SUV.

Alternatively, why not splurge and book an all-inclusive tour where transport is included? While it might not be the most adventurous or affordable option, it’s no doubt the safest and most convenient.

Beautiful Travels Stay That Way Insured

Traveling without good travel insurance is extremely risky. If you can afford life in Qatar, you can afford travel insurance! Stay protected.

ALWAYS sort out your backpacker insurance before your trip. There’s plenty to choose from in that department, but a good place to start is Safety Wing .

They offer month-to-month payments, no lock-in contracts, and require absolutely no itineraries: that’s the exact kind of insurance long-term travellers and digital nomads need.

There’s no doubt about it: Qatar’s beauty hinges on its unique juxtaposition between history and modernity. With ultra-modern skyscrapers nestled between ancient souqs, set against a backdrop of an ever-changing desert landscape, this dynamic country is a whirlwind of beauty and innovation.

But futuristic buildings and architecture aren’t all it has to offer. There are also some incredible natural spaces and reserves to explore, ranging from near-tropical islands of the Persian Gulf, mangrove forests, and, of course, sweeping deserts. In fact, the mangrove forest of Al Thakhira might just be the most beautiful place in Qatar.

Don’t count this destination out as a transit stop. Spend some time exploring the wonder of this Middle Eastern gem, and thank us later…

Qatar Visa On Arrival: Requirements & Updates (2024)

Doha Guides Team regularly reviews this article to ensure the content is up-to-date and accurate. The last editorial review and update were on 02 February 2024.

Since August 2017, the State of Qatar has been allowing visa-free entry for citizens of more than 80 countries, making it the most open country in the Middle East.

After it was briefly suspended in 2020 due to COVID-19, Qatar’s visa-on-arrival service has resumed with some conditions. As of 2024, citizens of 90+ countries are eligible for a free Qatar Visa On Arrival.

This article explains all the requirements, eligible nationalities, application procedures, and visa renewal procedures, and answers the frequently asked questions about the free visa on arrival in Qatar .

Visa-Free Entry

Qatar visa on arrival new rules & updates, requirements for qatar visa on arrival, nationalities eligible for visa-free entry to qatar, special conditions for some nationalities, visa waiver for gcc citizens, documents checklist for visa on arrival passengers, qatar visa on arrival cost, procedure at the immigration counter, how to extend qatar visa on arrival, faq on qatar visa on arrival.

Visa-free entry is now the new term defining previously “visa on arrival”. According to Qatar Tourism, nothing changed except the name.

Staying with a Qatar resident or booking directly with a hotel is not accepted for these nationalities (to avail visa on arrival).

A minimum of 2 nights should be booked through the Discover Qatar website. Cancellations within 48 hours of arrival are subject to a 100% cancellation fee.

Please note that even if you book the hotel for a longer duration, the initial visa issued will be for 30 days only. You need to extend that by visiting any MOI Service Center or the Airport Immigration office. The online extension may not be possible for these nationalities.

Hi there I am holding a Kosovo passport with a Swiss Perminent Residenz status and will be in transit in Doha for 2,5 hours coming from Zuerich going to Male. Do I need a transit visa for this period of time in Transit or not at all? Thank you for your answer. Claudia

Hi Claudia, You don’t need Transit Visa is you are not leaving the airport.

can visit visa holder of Qatar exit by road ??? or should be return by air only ???

Hi Shahnawaz, They can exit by road also.

I have a 5 month old, he was born outside of Qatar. I want to return to my job with him but my husband is not a resident of Qatar. What do I do?

Hi Roseline, If your profession and salary is good enough (normally you would need QR 10,000 or Qr 6,000 with family accommodation), you can sponsor your baby. But you can apply for that only after reaching Qatar and will take few weeks. If your nationality is eligible, you can try visa on arrival for baby or Hayya A1 Tourist Visa.

I have a Canadian passport and I am planning to visit Qatar via land border from Saudi Arabia and then will drive back. Will I still be able eligible for visa on arrival? I am also not a resident in Saudi but I am here on a tourist visa and will have a flight from Saudi to Canada after visiting Qatar

Hi Sasa, Usually this is allowed. However, you may double-check with the Qatar Government Helpline at +974 44069999 to ensure the policy hasn’t changed.

Please update visa requirements. You are posting old information!

Hi Jana, We regularly confirm this information with the official websites (Ministry of Interior, Qatar Airways and Qatar Tourism) and we believe they are all up-to-date. Please specify which part you think is wrong and we can check again.

Can I apply ‘on arrival visa’ 2 months before the visit.

Hi Paul, Visa On Arrival cannot be applied in advance. You can apply for Hayya Tourist Visa (A1) in advance. Here is how: https://www.dohaguides.com/how-to-apply-qatar-tourist-visa-online/

as per your guide- south africans get a 30 day visa on arrival however latelythey have been receiving a 90 day visa on arrival? could you clarify if this is a multi entry visa and will this 90 day visa on arrival be permannently applicable to south africans?

Hi Khadija, We are not sure if there is a recent change in policy. According to official Visit Qatar website , South African citizens are eligible for 30 days visa free entry (not 90 days). There is another group of countries with 90 days visa, but SA is not include in that. For clarification, please contact the Qatar Government Helpline at +974-44069999 or [email protected] .

I am an RP holder and I would like to book a hotel through Discover Qatar for my wife, daughter, and myself. However, the hotels listed on Discover Qatar only mention ‘room only for VOA (visa on arrival)’. Can I still book a hotel for three guests, including myself, even though I am an RP holder?

Hi Khan, Usually if a family is coming on visa on arrival, RP holder can add himself as a guest and stay with them. However there is a clause on DQ website that says “If anybody books these hotels who do not require them for these purposes, the hotels may charge an additional supplement at check-in.” So it is better to confirm with the hotel before booking.

Top 5: The Longest Airbus A350 Routes From The USA This Year

  • The Airbus A350 has one ultra-long-range (ULR) version, the A350-900ULR, which can carry more fuel than the regular A350-900.
  • The A350-1000 operates none of the routes on the list.
  • Singapore and Philippine Airlines dominate the list.

With Airbus and Boeing developing their flagship widebody aircraft, the A350 and 787, both manufacturers unlocked endless possibilities for their airline customers, including ultra-long-haul flights. While such itineraries have become synonymous with Qantas and its Project Sunrise adventure, there are some very long routes where the Airbus A350 enables carriers to operate flights without stopping for fuel anywhere.

Typically, long-range routes are operated by the Airbus A350-900, with the manufacturer certifying a modification of the type with additional usable fuel. According to type certificate (TC) data provided by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the basic A350-900 can have up to 110,523 kilograms (243,661.5 pounds) of fuel. At the same time, the modification of the A350-900-110211, marketed as the A350-900ULR, can carry up to 130,693 kg (288,128.7 lbs) of usable fuel onboard.

According to data from the aviation analytics company Cirium , whose data will also be used henceforth, the longest Airbus A350-1000 flight originating in the United States is between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Doha Hamad International Airport (DOH). The itinerary is operated by Qatar Airways, with the distance separating the two airports being 13,359 kilometers (7,213 nautical miles) per Cirium. However, despite its long distance, it was too short to break into the list.

Flight Review: Qatar Airways Airbus A350 Qsuites Business Class Los Angeles To Doha

San francisco international airport (sfo) – singapore changi airport (sin), airlines serving the route: singapore airlines.

  • Distance between the two airports: 7334.2 nautical miles (13,583 kilometers)
  • Weekly one-way flights: 14

First on the list is the connection between San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Singapore Changi Airport (SIN), an itinerary operated only by Singapore Airlines. The airline uses its Airbus A350-900 aircraft to operate SQ31/SQ32 and SQ33/SQ34 return journeys, with 14 weekly flights scheduled.

No other carrier is present on flights between SFO and SIN, which will be all too familiar with the other four routes on this list. While the weekly itineraries remain stable with 14 during 2024, during the first four months of the year, the airline has deployed fewer seats on the route.

Between January and April, the 14 weekly one-way flights amounted to 2,898 seats since one of the daily flights Singapore Airlines has scheduled to be operated is a 161-seat A350-900, which has 67 business class and 94 premium economy seats. From May, the weekly seats on the route amount to 3,542.

Singapore Airlines' Airbus A350 Business Class: What You Get For Your Money

New york john f. kennedy international airport (jfk) – manila ninoy aquino international airport (mnl), airlines serving the route: philippine airlines.

  • Distance between the two airports: 7397.4 nautical miles (13,700 kilometers)
  • Weekly one-way flights: three

Another route to Southeast Asia is between New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL), operated exclusively by Philippine Airlines. The two airports are separated by 7397.4 NMI (13,700 km).

Similar to Singapore Airlines, the Philippine airline operates its flights with an Airbus A350-900, not the A350-1000, flying only three times per week during the majority of the year. In Q1 2024, the airline scheduled four weekly flights with the type.

Philippine Airlines Faces Major Issues As US Visa Waiver Carrier Agreement Expires

Los angeles international airport (lax) – singapore changi airport (sin).

  • Distance between the two airports: 7,610.6 nautical miles (14,095 kilometers)
  • Weekly one-way flights: ten

Returning to the West Coast of the US, this is another route on the list served exclusively by Singapore Airlines and its Airbus A350-900 aircraft. Unlike the SFO–SIN route, the itinerary between LAX and SIN has fewer weekly one-way seats after April.

However, the flight’ frequency will not change, with the airline scheduling ten weekly flights on the route, which connects two cities separated by 7,610.6 NMI (14,095 km). While there are plenty of flights connecting LAX with Australia and New Zealand, SIN remains the airport’s farthest destination.

5 Reasons Flying Singapore Airlines Is Worth It

Newark liberty international airport (ewr) – singapore changi airport (sin).

  • Distance between the two airports: 8241.3 nautical miles (15,263 kilometers)
  • Weekly one-way flights: seven

Singapore Airlines also connects Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and SIN with a daily flight, which is the second-longest flight globally, competing only against the next entry into the list. Nevertheless, with such a distance and Singapore Airlines deploying its business class and premium economy class-only A350-900 on the route, the seven weekly flights amount to 17.201 million available seat kilometers (ASK).

Previously, the route was operated by an Airbus A340-500, the longest-range variant of the A340 family. However, having discontinued the route between 2013 and 2018, Singapore Airlines again began flying between EWR and SIN until the pandemic largely halted international traffic for a few years.

Singapore Airlines' Non-Stop New York Flights: Just How Long Are They?

New york john f. kennedy international airport (jfk) – singapore changi airport (sin).

  • Distance between the two airports: 8244 nautical miles (15,268 kilometers)

Not only is this the longest route on the Airbus A350 family aircraft that originates in the US, but this Singapore Airlines itinerary is also the longest flight in the world, beating the neighboring EWR–SIN route by several nautical miles or kilometers.

Singapore Airlines entered the JFK–SIN market in November 2020, announcing the route a month earlier. While it was during the early days of the pandemic, at the time, the carrier said that it hoped to make the route with cargo operations as well since it was anticipating “significant cargo demand from a range of industries based in the New York metro area, including pharmaceuticals, e-commerce and technology firms.”

Israel-Gaza latest: Three sons of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh killed in airstrike

Three sons and three grandchildren of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh have been killed in Gaza. Their deaths will not affect the group's ceasefire demands, he has said. Listen to a Daily episode on how the war could be worsening Yemen's humanitarian crisis as you scroll.

  • Date for Rafah offensive is bravado, US officials say
  • Alex Crawford report : Yemeni fishermen face threat of Houthi attack - but on Gaza they are firmly behind the militants

That's it for our coverage today, but we'll be back tomorrow for more live updates.

Air traffic over the Iranian capital was suspended from midnight local time (9.30pm in the UK) for "military drills", the country's defence minister told local media.

The reports are unverified.

It comes following suggestions by Bloomberg and other outlets that Iranian military action against Israel is expected "imminently".

Tehran has threatened to retaliate for an attack it suspects Israel was behind - on a compound in Syria last week - that killed senior Iranian military officials.

Germany's Lufthansa airline said tonight it had suspended flights to and from Tehran from 6 April probably until 11 April, "due to the current situation in the Middle East".

A far-right Israeli politician has warned Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh that he is "next", after his three sons and four grandchildren were killed in Israeli airstrikes.

Reacting to the news in a video shared online, Almog Cohen said: "Ismail Haniyeh, you are next in line".

Mr Cohen serves as an equivalent to an MP in Israel (known as MK - or member of the Knesset, Israel's parliament) representing the Otzma Yehudit far-right political party, which is also known as 'Jewish Power'.

He briefly served on the Knesset's foreign affairs and defence committee in 2022, before Itamar Ben-Gvir, a similarly outspoken far-right politician, removed him.

In January last year, Mr Cohen was suspended from X following his calls to "keep killing them" after an IDF raid in the Jenin refugee camp that led to the deaths of nine Palestinians.

Israel Defence Forces (IDF) troops have been manoeuvring and making preparations on the Gaza border despite a mass pull-out of personnel from the territory.

Benjamin Netanyahu has said that he has a date in mind for the planned IDF offensive in Rafah - the only major city in Gaza yet to be assaulted by Israeli ground forces - although that date has not yet been made public.

Israel will open a new land crossing into the Gaza Strip which will facilitate aid deliveries to Palestinians from overseas or neighbouring Jordan, the country's defence minister has said.

Speaking to reporters, Yoav Gallant said a new crossing point would be created on the northern part of the Gaza border to reduce the time taken to truck in aid from Ashdod, which is some 40km away.

An aide to Mr Gallant later said the crossing point would be between the Israeli village of Zikim and the Palestinian village of As Siafa.

"These breakthroughs have a direct impact on the flow of aid - we plan to flood Gaza with aid," Mr Gallant said.

"It will also streamline security checks and strengthen our work with international partners.”

A short time ago, we heard from the US president.

Joe Biden said he has been both blunt and straightforward with Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu in recent conversations, as reports swirl that the US president is getting fed up of dealing with the prime minister.

He said Israeli efforts to get more aid into Gaza were not enough.

When asked what Mr Netanyahu is doing to meet the commitments he has already made to the US, Mr Biden replied: "We will see."

Speaking during a joint press conference with the Japanese prime minister, Mr Biden said that "Hamas must decide whether to move forward towards it", refencing a fresh ceasefire deal currently on the table.

'Ironclad' on Iran

Despite his clear frustration with Mr Netanyahu's recent decisions, the US president doubled down on its commitment to helping Israel defend itself in case of an Iranian attack.

"We also want to address the Iranian threat to launch a significant - they're threatening to launch a significant attack in Israel," he said.

"As I told Prime Minister Netanyahu, our commitment to Israeli security against these threats from Iran and its proxies is ironclad.

"Let me say it again, ironclad - all we can to protect Israel's security."

A statement from Hamas has said that seven members of leader Ismail Haniyeh's family were killed by an Israeli airstrike today - up from the six that had previously been reported.

An IDF statement confirmed that the Israeli air force had struck and killed Haniyeh's sons Hazem, Amir and Mohammed.

This latest Hamas statement also says four of his grandchildren were killed in the same strike.

It said three granddaughters and one grandson had died, but did not provide ages.

Asked about the four grandchildren killed in the airstrike, the Israeli military said there was "no information on that right now".

"This pure blood, these sacrifices and heroism, will be [the] fuel that... ignites resistance against the Zionist enemy, and fuels the resolve of the mujahideen on the ground until the occupation is defeated and eliminated," the Hamas statement read.

Israel's war against Hamas will last so long that boys still in school can expect to fight in Gaza, Israeli war cabinet minister Benny Gantz has said.

"Fighting against Hamas will take time," he said in a statement to the media.

"Boys who are now in middle school will still fight in the Gaza Strip."

However, Mr Gantz said that for the time being, the group's military capabilities had been destroyed.

"From a military point of view, Hamas is defeated," he said.

"Its fighters are eliminated or in hiding" and its capabilities "crippled," he added.

This video shows the moment Ismail Haniyeh is told that six members of his family were killed in Gaza.

His immediate reaction is to say: "May God rest their souls."

You can watch the full video below...

Details of the deaths of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh's sons and grandchildren are beginning to be shared by Hamas-affiliated media.

Al Aqsa TV said Hazem, Amir and Mohammed Haniyeh were killed with family members in the strike near al Shati refugee camp in Gaza City.

The three sons and three grandchildren were making family visits during the first day of the Eid al-Fitr holiday in Shati, their home refugee camp in Gaza City, according to relatives quoted by Reuters.

Ismail Haniyeh is originally from Shati.

The Israel Defence Forces claims his sons were Hamas operatives "on their way to carry out terrorist activities in the central area of the Gaza Strip" (see previous post).

The brothers were travelling with family members in a single vehicle targeted by an Israeli drone, Al Aqsa TV said, adding that a total of six people were killed, including a daughter of Hazem Haniyeh, and a son and daughter of Amir.
