Led by frontman Justin Furstenfelf, Blue October released its debut album "The Answers" back in '98. The band started gaining local attention for their alt-rock sound. They started making bigger waves as their following records "Consent to Treatment" and "History for Sale" reached more listeners. With a growing fanbase and a roster of alt-rock anthems, the band found its massive breakthrough in 2006 with "Hate Me" off of their third studio album "Foiled". With a loyal fanbase and a certified-Platinum radio hit, Blue October rocked on.

Since the band's big break, they released seven studio albums, the latest of which, "Spinning the Truth Around, released in October of 2022. Lone Star State rockers Blue October emerged during the mid-'90s, delivering an emotionally charged amalgam of heart-heavy post-grunge and slick modern rock. The band’s discography reflects the arc brought on by age. Over the course of nearly two decades and seven studio albums, frontman Justin Furstenfeld has channeled his own emotional battles and life lessons into anthemic hit songs like “Hate Me” and “Into The Ocean." They built on that success via a string of albums that saw them go from radio-ready, post-grunge act (2011's Any Man inAmerica) to stadium-sized synth rockers with an unabashed flair for the melodramatic (2016's Home). The Texas outfit, which earned the honor of opening for the Rolling Stones in the height of their 2006 platinum-selling “Foiled” push, have since managed everything from sold-out theater concerts to an intimate acoustic tour. Alt-rock fans are devoted to the group's smart combination of indie rock and orchestral melancholy.

House of Blue Shows/Orlando 5/3 & 5/4 were absolutely amazing. I actually think this was one of the best concerts I've been to, seeing as I had an obstructed view and was forced to just listen and be in the music.

Not a huge fan of the venue, but for the group, willing to make the sacrifice.

I've been following the group since 2008 and love that they bring people together for various reasons. For me it was the realness of life and their experiences at first. Recently its been my personal life changes, sorta a shifting as I call it. For others I know its because of addiction to drugs/alcohol. I guess in some way I can relate to that as well, my ex was an alcoholic. I was mentally challenged and it did take its toll on me. Although that was years ago, the scars still remain.

All I can do is THANK Blue October for bringing a great group of people into my life who I can now call friends, BLUE Family forever...

Look forward to many years to come with these boys..

Ok so ... Blue October are the best band I’ve ever seen live . I normally attend a live gig weekly . I was incredibly excited to attend four Blue October concerts in the UK part of their tour . I did two meet & greets & the band were so nice , down to earth & genuine . I will definitely try to go to more of their concerts in the future (as many as possible) . After or before shows all band members were beyond amazing, always stopping for selfies or to sign stuff . Justin never got cranky even though there was always a line of people awaiting his attention. Matt is so genuine & such a nice guy ( my personal favorite as I really feel his music) . Ryan so willing to offer up violin lessons (randomly ) & Will (who we still class as a Blue Newbie ) has really settled in & is definitely there to stay . As for the show ... outstanding would be an understatement. I love Blue October, the music , the anecdotal stories Justin tells ... it all comes together as the greatest experience of my life !!! Also Chad was a dote & was so good to fans especially ones he recognized as being regulars at this stage . Ella on the merch desk is just about the nicest girl I’ve met & always had ‘the chat’ with us . All of these things really made our trip extra enjoyable (we travelled from Ireland to see them ) . They are just that good !

I am 51 years old and I have never loved a band like I love these five guys!!! My birthday is November 23 and my daughter bought me tickets to see them in Cleveland Ohio, it was amazing. I have listened to Justin and Blue October from the beginning. When they came out I was fighting a serious Illness and their music helped me through the most difficult time in my life, my husband and I suffered a miscarriage due to my illness and I thought I would never recover physically, emotionally, or mentally. Justin spoke to me through his music and brought me into the light. I will forever be grateful for their talent and love of their fans. After the show I got to cross off number one of my bucket list and that was to meet him and tell him thank you for saving me. He was so kind and sweet, I told him he was my birthday present and #1 on my bucket list, he smiled and kissed my hand. My heart was so full. I hope he knows how much he is appreciated and helps his fans. He connects with each one of us in the crowd and its like he is personally talking to us,and lets us know we are not alone. It doesn't matter whats going on in my life all I have to do is listen to him and I feel better and like I can go on. He is truly amazing!

Lone Star State rockers Blue October deliver an emotionally charged amalgam of heart-heavy post-grunge and slick modern rock. They found favor in 2006 with their platinum-selling fourth long-player Foiled, which featured the chart-topping singles "Hate Me" and "Into the Ocean," and built on that success with a series of albums that saw them go from a radio-ready, post-grunge act (2011's Any Man in America) to stadium-sized synth rockers with an unabashed flair for the dramatic (2016's Home). In 2022, they issued Spinning the Truth Around, the first installment of a double-LP that concluded in 2023 with Volume 2.

The band was formed in 1995 in Houston by vocalist/guitarist Justin Furstenfeld, who had begun penning angst-ridden rock songs with the help of his brother, drummer Jeremy Furstenfeld, and violinist Ryan Delahoussaye. Bassist Liz Mullally completed the group's initial lineup, and Blue October released an independent debut album, The Answers, in 1998. The band's emotive brand of post-grunge led to the sale of 5,000 copies in their native Houston alone. Two years later, Blue October made their major-label debut on Universal with Consent to Treatment, with Matt Noveskey replacing Mullally.

By the time Blue October began prepping for their third long-player, 2003's History for Sale, C.B. Hudson (guitar/vocals) had been added to the lineup. The album's first single, "Calling You," became a Top 40 hit thanks to its inclusion on the American Wedding soundtrack. The live outing Argue with a Tree was released in 2004, following 18 months of touring. Noveskey had briefly left the band for health reasons in 2002, but he returned in time to record Blue October's first studio album in three years, Foiled, which was issued in April 2006 and went platinum one year later on the strength of a pair of powerhouse singles. Before the group went on tour with Yellowcard in September 2007, Universal/Motown released Foiled for the Last Time, a two-disc set consisting of a full version of Foiled, 14 newly recorded songs performed live, and several alternative remixes.

Recording sessions for the band's fifth studio album, Approaching Normal, commenced in mid-2008 with producer Steve Lillywhite, and the finished product appeared early the following year. The tour in support of the record was cut short due to the (eventually openly discussed) mental health issues of their frontman. They returned with two albums in 2011, Ugly Side: An Acoustic Evening with Blue October (recorded live in Austin, Dallas, and Houston) and the darker Any Man in America, made during Justin Furstenfeld's divorce and loss of child custodial rights. After his seeking treatment, including rehab, the group's seventh studio album, the more positive, PledgeMusic-funded Sway, followed in 2013. The next year, Furstenfeld recorded and released a solo voice-and-guitar album titled Songs from an Open Book, which included his versions of songs by either Blue October or the Last Wish (his first group). The full band reassembled for Blue October's second concert film, Things We Do at Night (Live from Texas), which was recorded at the Dallas House of Blues in November 2014 and released a year later.

Blue October appeared to be back on track as their well-received eighth studio album, Home, arrived in the spring of 2016. However, it was soon revealed that Hudson had been injured in a biking accident. Matthew Ostrander took over lead guitar on the supporting tour. The band returned in early 2018 with their ninth full-length effort, I Hope You're Happy, followed in 2019 by the concert LP Live from Manchester. 2020 saw the release of the singles "Completely" and "Moving On (So Long)" ahead of the arrival of This Is What I Live For, which arrived in 2021. 2022's Spinning the Truth Around marked the first volume in an ambitious double-album arc, with the second installment arriving in 2023. ~ MacKenzie Wilson
