LEGENDÄRE BRAUEREI Die Geschichte des weltweit bekannten Beck's Biers begann bereits 1873 an seinem Standort in Bremen an der Weser. Schon damals als "Kaiserbier" wurde es in den markanten grünen Flaschen abgefüllt.

Während der etwa dreistündigen Besichtigung der Brauerei, die heute zum Konzern Anheuser-Busch InBev gehört, erhalten Sie interessante Informationen rund um die Kunst des Brauens, die Geschichte der Brauerei sowie die Marken Beck's und Haake-Beck. Der Rundgang führt durch das Museum, den Rohstoffraum und das Sudhaus, vorbei an Malzsilos, den Gär- und Lagertanks und der Abfüllung (Hinweis: Eine Besichtigung der Abfüllung kann nicht garantiert werden). Zum Ende Ihrer Brauereitour nehmen Sie im Gästeraum Platz und es findet eine Bierverkostung statt. Ihnen werden drei verschiedene Biere aus dem Sortiment serviert. Treffpunkt Beck's und Haake-Beck Besucherzentrum (ca. 20 Gehminuten vom Marktplatz entfernt)  Hinweise Die Teilnahme an der Brauereitour ist nur mit einem Mindestalter von 16 Jahren und mit festem Schuhwerk erlaubt. Sollte die Mindestteilnehmerzahl von 20 Personen nicht erreicht werden, kann die Führung kurzfristig abgesagt werden. Es wird Ihnen dann eine alternative Uhrzeit am selben Tag vorgeschlagen. Das Fotografieren ist auf dem Brauereigelände nicht gestattet. Rollstuhlfahrer bitte nur nach vorheriger Anmeldung. Eine Besichtigung des Sudhauses ist für Rollstuhlfahrer leider nicht möglich, da der Zugang nicht barrierefrei ist.

Very nice tour, super guide and fun beer tasting :-). Remember to book in advance, as there is a limited number of places.

I was expecting a little more from a tour which was advertised as two hours long. There was the initial museum area where the tour started which had lots of exhibits and interesting stuff however the guide (who was very good) gave a very high level talk but did not give any time to read or take in the exhibits. Due to strict hygiene laws there was very little of the brewing process to see so we were subjected to a very dated video of what we couldn't see! After what seemed a whistlestop flit around some buildings we were then subject to a marketing & corporate video about Becks and its parent company which signalled the end of the tour as such.... ....then the drinking started! Fair play to Becks - they did make up for a poor tour by pouring beers down our necks. A masterstroke! I enjoyed the tasting and the guide was interesting & engaging but I was left feeling a little short changed.

A nice two-hour brewery tour. You'll hear an interesting story about history of beer brewing, you'll see a 12 minutes movie and listen to short presentation about Beck's brewery. You'll find out what OBK abbr. stands for, where and why does the Purity-Law comes from, what is Lupulin, you'll have a taste (or few tastes) of Beck's (green bottle) and Haake-Beck (brown bottle). Probably the best part of the tour was the tasting where we all could mingle, explore beer tastes and make friends. The tour starts in front of the factory, it will take you around 20 minutes of walking to get there from Info center in Altstadt or around 10 minutes of walking from tram station on Am Brill. The tour costs around 10 EUR, but you can taste beers for around15 EUR, so... cheers, prost, uzdravlje, salud! p.s. don't forget the colors of the bottles and what comes firs bitter or soft...

Very interesting tour covering the history and production of all the varieties of Becks Beer. Tasting at the end of the tour.

We went with some friends to do the guided tour at Beck´s Brewery. The excellent guide gave us a very interesting tour in the brewery and finally the tasting in the bar they have. A must do!

I wanted to do the tour however I could only fit in the 1pm tour before the football. I was advised that it was a German speaking tour but I elected to go on it since I wouldn't get another chance to do the tour. I was able to read all of the details about the exhibits as in English as well as German. The beer at the end was exceptional with two draft beers and three bottled beers. Superb value at equivalent of £8 entrance fee

While world-famous brands have their origins in Bremen and are on everyone's lips, a lively craft beer scene with handcrafted delights also delights the palates. Art of Brewing Made by Beck's

Founded in Bremen in 1873, today's Beck & Co. brewery is world-famous. Exported to around 120 countries, the brewery from the Weser is best known for its popular Pilsner from the green bottle. With the pioneering spirit of their founding fathers, the company's brewmasters are also constantly creating new beers, mixed beer drinks and non-alcoholic variants. Lots of interesting information about the art of brewing, the brewery and the Beck's and Haake-Beck brands, presented in a varied way, are the centrepiece of the brewery tour in Bremen.

Real Craft Brewing at the Freie Brau Union Bremen - Free Brewing Union Bremen

After almost 50 years without brewing any beer, the history of the Freie Brau Union has been written since 2015: In the Walle district , tradition meets the present. In the brewery's historic brick building, Bremen craft beers are brewed with great passion in the modern brewhouse. Guided tours, beer seminars and brew days give you insights and know-how about the art of brewing.

Original Brewing Tradition at Bremer Braumanufaktur

What started as a start-up in 2014 has become an integral part of the heart of Bremen: the Bremer Braumanufaktur brewery on the former Kellogg site. On the rapidly developing Überseeinsel, not only are varied varieties of the Hopfenfänger brand brewed, a beer garden and a brewpub also await you here. The associated vegetable yard, where some of the processed hops are grown, is also only a stone's throw away. Together with the Bremer Braumanufaktur, it won the 2022 Tourism Award in the sustainability category.

In addition, exciting brewery tours, tastings and beer seminars await you on site. And all this right on the Weser - it doesn't get any better than this!

Schüttinger: Bremen's Oldest Pub Brewery

The Schüttinger pub brewery stands for drinkable beer, rustic food and conviviality at long wooden tables. The Bremen tradition of the house brewery was revived in 1990. Exactly two types of beer are served here, namely light and dark. The two drinkable Schüttinger beers are particularly good to try at the so-called brewers' feast, which combines food and drink with an exuberant atmosphere.

Craft beer is literally on everyone's lips and has also long since arrived in Bremen. Old breweries have been revived or new ones opened in various places in the city, pubs serve specialities and entire shops focus on the variety of exquisite beers. Beck’s Brewery Tour

Beer is a staple of any social gathering or meal in Germany but the way it is made is a mystery to many people. The Dickinson in Bremen program recently took a tour of the Beck’s Brewery right here in Bremen to discover more about this important and delicious drink. We first learned that Beck’s is not only the most popular beer here in Bremen but that it is also Germany’s largest export beer. It can be found in every corner of the globe. The next part of the tour took us through the process of beer production; from harvesting the hops to bottling and packaging the product. Finally, we were able to sample various types of beer produced at the Beck’s brewery. They had us guess whether the beer was Beck’s, Alcohol-free Beck’s, or Haake Beck, a beer produced by Beck’s but only served in Northern Germany. The Dickinson crew guessed correctly with only 4+ months of drinking Beck’s and Haake Beck under our belt. To our surprise, we were not rewarded with a lifetime supply of beer.

CHARTER BOAT DETAILS

“Nena” is a comfortable and spacious cruiser that sleeps 4 people and has ample space for guests (up to 12). The generous galley is located up in the shelter. Operational helms and comfortable settees are located both in the shelter and up on the flybridge. 

Fast and Nimble - The Hinckley T40 "Timbuktu" provides a fun boating experience while avoiding the prolific lobster trap lines that populate the Maine coast. Timbuktu is outfitted for day-cruising and/or overnighting, with or without a Captain.

Added to the fleet in 2020, this Wilbur 38 flybridge Cruiser is ready for cruising the Downeast Maine coast. A tender and outboard will be included. This vessel will be fully equipped for overnighting and lengthy cruising. 

2023 Ellis 36 Express Cruiser "All That Jazz". Includes: Ellis Cantilevered seats & Ellis fold-out tables, a Davit system with tender, diesel heating & cooking, solar charging, and a DC-AC inverter. Sleep 2 in the cabin and 2 in the salon. Ample seating for up to twelve people.

The Ellis 36 Bowrider Express "Marengo" is arguably the prettiest boat in Maine's waters. It is a premier yacht - available to clients who are planning to hire a Captain. Custom Designed and built by Ellis Boat Company, this beautiful Ellis 36 Express Cruiser features a custom top design, 465 hp Yanmar diesel engine, Garmin electronics, generator, and more.

• WE ARE OPEN!!! 2023 SEASON IS MAY 15 –  SEPTEMBER 30, Year-Round Office Hrs 9AM  –  4:00PM Mon-Fri. Deliveries are 7 days a week.
• RESERVATIONS START JANUARY 1ST EVERY YEAR: Can’t find a boat? That’s because you can reserve as early as January 1st every year.
• MINIMUM RENTAL DAYS:  Boats are each labeled with their minimums.  If less days are open between existing reservations,  please call in your request  –only available within 25 miles of 1117 China Rd, Winslow, ME, 04901. Please note we only offer MINIMUM RENTAL DAY pricing online, even if choosing less days (each calendar day is a rental day–not a 24 hr period). MAKE SURE TO CHOOSE LENGTH OF RENTAL, NOT ONLY START DATE. GREEN DENOTES AVAILABLE FOR THAT DAY.
• Read “Agreement” in footer prior to reserving.
• Security is required by check for first time renters at launch (checks will be deposited) plus credit card on file. All security monies and credit card on file must be under renter’s name that signs agreement at reservation time and dropoff. Securities issued under other names will become co-renters and must also be present at boat launch. Security is to secure the reservation and boat, and will be held during rental period and is refundable with completed reservations less gas refill, surcharges, and any damages. Security is separate from rental amount due and is returned by mail to your billing address post-inspection. Drivers cannot return security upon vessel return.
• Security for repeat renters in good standing is credit card on file only.
• Cancellations: If cancelling within 2 days of making reservation, cancellation fee is full rental amount less 10% for admin/merchant fees. Rental amount is 50% non-refundable if over 45 days from original or earliest start date, and non-refundable 45 days and under from original or earliest start date.  If using card pre-authorization as security, the card will be charged the full rental amount upon cancellation. MBR reserves the right to cancel order or raise security amount required. $50 Change fee applies to all boat changes and date changes. MBR will use earliest reservation dates to determine cancellation fees.
• AT DROPOFF AND PICKUP, Renter or Co-Renter must be present, at least 25 years old with valid ID, complete Agreement, providing a major credit card for any costs exceeding vessel security.
• Your boat will not be launched without security.
• Launches listed in ‘Delivery Pricing’ incorporate known expenses as of Jan 1st for 2 round trips to your launch, and includes pickup of vessel. Known expenses have tolls, state launch fees, labor adjustments due to lake location. ‘Delivery Pricing’ button is in footer of each page and may have an added ‘Delivery Surcharge’ to adjust for gas price increases from Jan 1st posting.
• Vessel Gas refills and Delivery Surcharge (if applicable) are paid post-rental by credit card on file or security. Deliveries this year are based on 3.30/gal, gas price fluctuations over 3.30/gal will determine delivery surcharge.

Before Arriving: Bring to Launch

• ARRIVE ON TIME AND AT THE RIGHT LAUNCH.  Late fee is $100/hr or partial hour starting at 15 minutes, no exceptions.  Due to driver’s tight and demanding schedule, this is non-negotiable.
• RENTAL START TIMES are “preferred times” subject to schedule.
• RENTAL RETURN TIMES are between 3-6pm. Lead driver will call during your rental to set return time subject to schedule.
• AS A CONDITION OF YOUR RENTAL, YOU MUST BE FLEXIBLE FOR START AND RETURN TIMES WITH CELL SERVICE AND VOICEMAIL ABLE TO RECEIVE MESSAGES FOR SCHEDULING AND TIME-SENSITIVE COMMUNICATIONS. To change your time, re-schedule with Office at 207.313.6248 by phone 9am – 4pm, not thru Drivers. Texts/messages/emails/voicemails sent to Office the evening before your scheduled time will not be heard until following business day between 9-4 Mon-Fri.
• Renters must also follow safety and boat instruction given at launch and prepare before arrival by accessing  RENTALBOATSAFETY.COM ,  reading the  Maine Boaters Handbook , and Coast Guard Checklists:  Pontoons ,  Ski Boats ,  Tiller-Steered Fishing  or  Wheel Steered Fishing  Boats.  A free demo ride is available upon request for deliveries!
• Maine Boat Rental is not responsible for loss of use due to weather or renter error. Renters to familiarize before renting to their lake, provide safe boat dock or mooring for rental duration, know lake and it’s restrictions, laws, boating.
• RETURN BOAT CLEANED. No dogs on boats, staining lotions or bronzers nor docking under sapping trees. Clay dirt, tree & lake debri, food & beverages, along with unwashed new fabrics will always stain seats and flooring and result in cleaning fees and/or upholstery replacement. Protect and maintain a clean boat.
• MANDATORY. All boat drivers must attend ‘boat & safety review’ at launch. We practice social distancing, but require anyone who is driving your rental to attend.
• Know your lake, No damage! Lake depths rise and fall. Before renting, view your lowest depths at the public launch, at your dock, throughout lake. Our vessels require 3′ of clear water to navigate, weed and rock free.

Regarding Tipping:

Have you ever had great service lasting longer than 1/2 day? Well, our drivers do way more! Here’s the process: Normal tipping is at launch .

• Driver’s start your vacation by foregoing their Summer and Weekends, frequently arriving at our yard at 4am depending upon your lake location.
• At the yard, they prepare and secure your rental for the road with your selected life jackets, safety gear, loading add-ons such as tubes and skis, paperwork.
• Drivers travel hours before & after each leg of trip under tight schedules to accomodate vacation plans.
• When arriving at launch your driver will wipe down your boat from it’s trip and call or text you to let you know they’ve arrived if you aren’t there, then begin to prepare boat to launch.
• Upon launching boat, a 20 minute boat and safety review is given to your designated drivers (demo rides upon request), and final paperwork is completed.
• All gear and using the vessel is reviewed for your safety as well as docking the vessel. Each driver will spend as much time as needed so you are comfortable with the vessel.
• You may have 2 different drivers: 1 for dropoff and another for pickup, depending upon scheduling. 
• We champion our drivers for giving up their Summer with long hours in service to vacationers. Please show your appreciation! Tipping is optional, usually between $40 to $200 depending upon your stay as an educational benefit. Our driver’s are aiming to please.

Review: In new play ‘Dominion,’ a faith-based event brings out intense debate about beliefs

As the country has become increasingly polarized over a variety of issues, many people in the middle of it all don’t know which way to turn. Playwrights have taken notice by creating works that attempt to present a closer look at what the options are. These often unsettling plays can provide much food for thought while hopefully offering more than just imaginative civics lessons.

Last month, Mad Horse Theatre presented Will Arbery’s “Heroes of the Fourth Turning,”  a play that offered a glimpse of youthful, far-right conservatives gathered around a small Catholic school in Wyoming. Now, the Footlights Theatre has opened a production of Maine author Hal J Cohen’s new play “Dominion” in a powerful, heartfelt and very well-acted world premiere run that follows a group of five individuals interacting at a faith-based event in the Midwest.

We begin with an introduction to a semi-goofy actor (Sean Farrelly) who has been hired by a creepy, self-proclaimed “rogue” minister (Zack Handlen) to play Jesus in a theatrical production geared toward reinforcing Christian beliefs and confirming the value of the minister’s services. This “Jesus” has problems staying on script and, though he offers few answers, he soon gets into highly emotional and empathetic conversations with visitors Ruth (Justine Wiesinger) and Miriam (Victoria Machado).

Ruth’s a bit of a tortured soul who has lost a loved one and blames the purported representatives of God for her fraught state of mind. Miriam, a seemingly more together professional person, reveals her own very personal grudge against the minister and the money-seeking corruption of faith that he appears to represent.

Conversations between various combinations of these four characters feature some very strong, even fierce, acting, no doubt a bit heightened for the audience by the proximity provided by the intimate theater space in Falmouth. Threats and minor acts of violence do startle.

Rounding out the cast is Daniel Rennie as The Man in the Shadows, a sort of reliable local guy who happens to be surrounded by people on the edge. His guitar and song performance opens the play with a gentle touch that he continues to give to his role throughout.

There is a passage in the play where one character outlines Dominion theology, the goal of which is to establish Christian control over all aspects of society, including government, family, education and the arts. Playwright Cohen may not have gone as deeply as he could have in unraveling all the forces at work in such religious/political movements. The focus of this 90-minute play, as directed by Michael J. Tobin, is more on the personal issues for those who are made to feel insecure and vulnerable as they confront intense confusion surrounding the question of what to believe. At that, it’s very good.
