This was by far one of the best days we spent in Buenos Aires. This was a perfect combination of Buenos Aires and Jewish history all covered in a 6 hour window. Ernesto is eloquent and knowledgeable and we particularly enjoyed his humour and enthusiasm. The tour itself started with Ernesto meeting us at our hotel, and during the drive downtown establishing our backgrounds and telling us of his as well. The tour covers landmarks, historical areas and who would ever have found a Holocaust memorial in a cathedral. Thoroughly worth the fee. Thank you Ernesto.
It is a delightful misnomer to call Ernesto Yattah's enthralling performance a Jewish Buenos Aires tour. It is that and much more. This is world history 101 lovingly applied to the Paris of South America. It is a lot of information but the story is so well told I didn't feel overwhelmed, just the opposite, in fact. Tell me more! Tell it all again! I would recommend this tour to anyone, visitor or local. If you are a history buff you will enjoy sharing the day with a kindred spirit and if you are not, you will enjoy the western civilization and philosophy romp. On our tour the historical contributions of José de San Martín, Bismarck, and Potosí silver were highlighted along with the differences between the Dominican, Franciscan, and Jesuit roles in early Buenos Aires. One of the most moving stops was the Holocaust memorial in Pope Francis' former cathedral. Tour lasts 6-7 hours with a morning cafe break for the best croissant in the city and a shared lunch. Not cheap but your brain deserves a treat sometimes, too.

Buenos Aires is home to what was once the most important Jewish community in South America. Join the tour guide, Mariana, virtually in Houssay square, two blocks away from the Asociación Mutual Israelita Argentina (AMIA). Here, attendees talk about how the community arrived in this neighborhood and introduce the tragic attacks on AMIA by showcasing some fantastic murals that pay homage to the victims and the community. Then, travelers will set off to explore the many memorials and synagogues that surround the area. As attendees walk into the garment district of Buenos Aires, they’ll talk about parallels between Buenos Aires and New York City, including the local Jewish deli. Did you know potato knishes are round in Argentina?
