Licensed travel agents and hotels in the UAE can arrange a tourist visa for you provided you purchase the ticket through them and maintain hotel reservation with the specific hotel.

You can also contact travel agencies in your country for any tourist packages available to the UAE in collaboration with a local tour operator.

It is important to check the authenticity of travel agents you are dealing with and refrain from paying or sending copies of your official documents until after you are 100 per cent sure the tour operator is genuine. You can seek the help of the  UAE embassy in your country  for verification.

Note: The UAE embassies do not issue tourist visas. Additionally, if you apply online through the ICP or GRRFAD website, you will get a Dubai visa valid for 30 days. And if you travel to the UAE with GCC citizens or nationals, you can get an entry permit for 60 days.

What Is The Visit Visa For Dubai From Saudi Arabia Price

The cost of a Tourist Visa for Dubai depends on which Tourist Visa you apply for. For example, a 30-day Single-Entry Dubai Tourist Visa costs SAR 255 (AED 250), and a 90-day Single-Entry Visa for Dubai costs SAR 612 (AED 600)*.

However, these costs are subject to change, so I recommend you check the Tourist Visa fees before you apply. OR apply with Atlys , where there are no hidden fees.

If My Visa Is Not Approved, Will I Get A Refund?

No, unfortunately, you will not. Please be clear the UAE government does not offer a refund for rejected visa applications, be it for any reason. Similarly, airlines or agencies might have their own policies. However, they usually do not offer a refund.

How Long Does It Take To Process A Dubai Tourist Visa?

You must be wondering how long the Dubai Tourist visa application processing will take. The visa processing time may differ, but it takes approximately 3-4 working days for them to process your Visa.

Next, you must fill out the application form (provide all the necessary details) and attach the required documents like your passport, passport photo, and flight ticket. Lastly, you must pay the application fees through the secure online portal and wait for your visa.

How To Apply For Your Dubai Tourist Visa Through Emirates

You can apply for your Dubai Tourist Visa through Emarites .

Suppose you're traveling to Dubai or stopping over in Dubai with Emirates. In that case, you can apply for and receive your UAE visa entirely online without submitting your passport for stamping. You can apply for your UAE visa through Manage your booking after booking your Emirates flight.

The online visa application service is available for residents and nationals worldwide.

This service is only available to passengers with a confirmed Emirates booking where an Emirates ticket has already been issued, and the flight itinerary includes the desired time in Dubai. The itinerary into and out of Dubai should be on one ticket (PNR), which must be an Emirates flight.

A minimum of four international working days before arrival in Dubai is required. However, Emirates recommends that you apply online as early as possible.

Next, you need to click on "Start service." This will take you to a new page where you need to create an account. After you create your account, you can start your application.

You must complete the visa application form, upload the required documents, pay your visa fee, and submit your application.

Please note that the websites aren't in English. You'll need a translator tool or just copy and paste the questions into goog translate.

Can I Extend My Dubai Tourist Visa?

Yes , you can. You can extend all types of visit and tourist visas for 30 days twice upon applying for it and after successful approval by the relevant authority. You can do this without leaving the country.

You can apply for the second renewal before the expiry of the first one against SAR 612 (AED 600) for each time of renewal.

As mentioned above, visa overstayers who do not renew will have to pay SAR 102 (AED 100) fine for each day of their overstay, to be calculated 10 days after the visa expiry.

Additionally, for citizens legible for VOA, if you have fully utilized the 30 or 90 days stay within 6 months , you can still apply for a pre-arranged visa which allows them to stay in the UAE for up to 90 days .

How Can I Extend My Dubai Tourist Visa?

You can apply for a visa extension through the Federal Authority For Identity & Citizenship, Customs & Port Security website . When accessing the website, click on the "Public Visa Service" option. This will take you straight to the page where you can apply for your Dubai Tourist Visa extension.

First, you must provide your passport number, passport type, date of birth, and nationality. Then, at the bottom of the page, you'll see the types of Dubai Tourist Visas you can extend.

The visa extension process is very straightforward; you need to provide personal information, attach the required documents (the same documents as for your visa), and then pay the service fee.

GCC citizens and residents

Citizens of GCC countries can travel to Dubai without a visa. Travellers from other countries can apply for a visa depending on the purpose and duration of their travel.

From 29 April 2016, if you’re a GCC resident (passenger holding a resident visa of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, or Oman) travelling to the United Arab Emirates, you will need to obtain an e-visa before you travel . You will not be eligible for a visa on arrival.

You can apply for an e-visa through select flydubai Travel Shops or by visiting the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs Dubai website .

30-day visit visa on arrival eligibility

Passport holders of the below countries do not require any pre-arranged visas. Your passport will be stamped with a free-of-charge, 30-day visit visa on arrival at the Dubai International Airport.

90-day visit visa on arrival eligibility

Passport holders of the below countries will be stamped with a multiple entry 90-day visit visa which will be valid for 6 months from the date of issue and for a total stay of 90 days.

*Citizens of the below European countries will also be eligible to apply for a pre-arranged visit visa if their 90-day visa on arrival has been fully utilised.

180-day visit visa on arrival eligibility

If you hold a Mexican passport, you’re eligible for a multiple entry 180-day visit visa that's valid for 6 months from the date of issue and for a stay of 180 days in total.

Pre-arranged visa entry requirement

Passport holders of all other countries need to have pre-arranged visas. There are various types of visa options available as per your choice. Visa validity varies from 30 days to 60 days with single and multiple entry options.

Important information

Before you travel to the UAE, please check your visa requirements and make sure you have a valid visa if needed or if your passport needs to be valid for a minimum period. Holders of non-standard passports and travel documents may also have different entry requirements.

As of 1 May 2017, Indian nationals holding a normal passport valid for a minimum of six months from the arrival date, and a visit visa or green card issued by the USA, which is valid for a minimum of six months, or holding a UK or EU residence, can obtain a visa on arrival for a maximum stay of 14 days for a certain fee. They can also apply to extend their stay for an additional 14 days for a certain fee.

Types of UAE visas

Based on your requirement, we facilitate these types of UAE visa services via flydubai:

*Visas can be extended twice. Each extension permits the holder to stay for an additional 30 days without exiting the country. Renewal should be processed before visa/first extension expiry.

Criteria for UAE visa

In order to apply for your UAE visa with flydubai prior to your travel, please note the below general rules:

• A colour photograph of the applicant is required.
• A colour copy of the applicant's passport is required to be submitted along with the application.
• Your passport should be valid for a minimum period of 6 months on the date of travel.
• You must complete the Visa Application Form (available at all flydubai ticketing offices), which can be accessed in Arabic or English, depending on the applicant’s nationality.
• The passport should be machine readable and in good condition
• If you are applying for a visa on behalf of your family, you must have a valid UAE residence with minimum 6 months of validity at the time of application
• Dependents such as spouse, children below 23 years of age and parents above 60 years of age will need to provide details and other supporting documents to get a UAE visa
• Additional documents may be required, depending on your country of residence.

You must have a confirmed and paid round trip booking with flydubai to collect your visa. You can make this booking after your visa is processed. Please note that the acceptance of a visa application is subject to immigration.

You don't need a visa to travel to the UAE if you're a citizen of the GCC countries of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

You'll automatically be issued with a free 30-day visa upon arrival in the UAE if you're a national of:

If you're a national of one of the below mentioned countries, you'll automatically be issued with a free 90-day multiple entry visa upon arrival in the UAE.

If your country is not in the above lists, then you will need to apply for a visa before you travel to the UAE.

Visa requirements sometimes change without prior notice, so it's a good idea to check whether you need a UAE visa with the UAE Embassy in your home country or with the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs Dubai (GDRFA-D).

• You have to complete the flydubai Visa Application Form
• Your passport should be valid for a minimum period of 6 months on the date of travel
• You will need proof of travel to the UAE if you have travelled in the past. Please enclose the latest entry/exit stamp pages on your passport

• If you are applying for a visa on behalf of your family, you must have a valid UAE residence with minimum 6 months validity at the time of application

A GCC resident or Saudi Iqama holder can apply for a UAE visa online from the Dubai GDRFAD website. Here is the detailed process;

Requirements

The following are the requirements to apply for a Dubai Visit Visa for a GCC resident or a Saudi Iqama holder;

• Original Iqama with at least 3 months validity. – Check Iqama Expiry Date
• Suitable Profession .
• Passport with at least 6 months validity.
• Iqama is issued at least 12 months before the travel. It means that only those people who have been in Saudi Arabia for at least 12 months are eligible for this visa.
• A personal Photo.
• ID Card issued from your home country.
• The profession must not be changed after getting the visa.
• Credit Card to make online Payment
• The expat sponsor must be traveling with the dependents.

Register with GDRFA Website

Every GCC resident or Saudi Iqama holder has to register with the Dubai GDRFA website to apply for a UAE visit visa;

• Open GDRFA Website https://smart.gdrfad.gov.ae/
• Register New User with Email .
• Enter your details and then click on the “ Send OTP ” button.
• Enter the OTP and click on the “ Register ” button.  
• First name: same as per passport.
• Middle name: Father name as per passport.
• Last name: Surname.

Apply for the UAE Visit Visa

After the successful registration;

• Log in to your account https://smart.gdrfad.gov.ae/
• Click on the “ New Application “.
• MySelf: New GCC Entry Permit .
• Dependents: New GCC Entry Permit .

On the next page, you must fill out a long application to apply for a UAE Visit Visa as a GCC resident or Saudi Iqama Holder.

• Residence Number: Iqama Number .
• Issuing Country: Saudi Arabia .
• Issue Date: Iqama Issue Date .

• Port of Arrival: Hatta Border (traveling by road from Saudi).

• Booking Reference: Leave it blank if traveling by road.

GCC Sponsor Details

• GCC Sponsor Type: Establishment .
• Enter the name and address of the employer.

If applying for one of the dependents;

• GCC Sponsor Type: GCC Resident .
• Sponsor Nationality: Select the nationality.

Passport Details

• Passport Type: Normal .
• After entering details, click on “ Search Data .”
• If no data is found, you will have to enter the data manually .

Applicant Details

• Relationship with Sponsor: Write “ Not related” while applying for yourself.
• Profession: Select the profession as per Iqama .

Contact Details

• Enter Contact Details.
• No need to Validate the Mobile Number .

Upload Documents

At this stage of applying for a Dubai Visit Visa, a GCC resident or Saudi Iqama holder needs to upload the following documents with a maximum size of each document to be 100KB ;

• ID Card/Birth Certificate Issued from the Home Country.
• Personal Photo.
• Sponsored GCC Residency: Iqama .
• Passport Page.
• Flight Ticket if traveling by Air.

Pay the UAE Visit Visa fee

On the last page, you are required to pay the fee for the UAE Visit Visa. 

• Dubai Visit Visa Fee: AED 260.
• The Fee is Non-Refundable.
• Once the fee is paid, the application will be submitted.
• The visa will be issued within one business day .

Dubai Visit Visa for Dependents

Once you have received a Dubai visa for the head of the family, you can  apply for the UAE Visit Visa for the dependents of GCC residents or Saudi iqama holders; 

• Go to Dashboard .
• MySelf: Existing Application.

Follow the same process with the only difference in GCC Sponsor Details, where you are required to enter them;

• Attach all the documents as explained above + plus the UAE visit visa for the head of the family. 

UAE-KSA Border

Experience:   The immigration process at the KSA-UAE border was very smooth. Nobody asked me which port of entry I chose, which was my main concern before traveling. I chose the Hatta border, as mentioned in the article above.

At the time of entry to the UAE, you have to pay AED 200 for car insurance within Saudi Arabia. If your car insurance covers the GCC region, print the insurance policy before you travel.

Validity of the UAE Visit Visa

The Dubai visit visa for GCC Residents is valid for;

• Valid Until: You can enter the UAE until this date.
• After the entry , it is valid for a stay of 30 days.
• It can be extended for a period of stay of 30 days only once.

Buying a Salik tag

Once you enter the UAE in your car, you must buy a Salik tag and register your vehicle within 10 days of entry.

• Buy a Salik tag from any petrol pump in the UAE.
• Cost: AED 100 (AED 50 for tag + AED 50 for balance).
• Activate the Salik tag by calling 80072545 .
• Stick the Salik sticker on the windshield of your car.
• AED 4 is deducted each time you pass a Salik toll gate.

If you don’t place Salik sticker on your car within 10 days of arrival, there will be a fine of;

• AED 100 on the first instance.
• AED 200 on the second instance.
• AED 400 on each subsequent instance.

Yas Island Theme Parks

If you plan to book Yas Island theme parks with your children, remember this.

• Yas Island has 4 theme parks: Ferrari World, Warner Bros, Sea World, and Yas Water World.
• Better visit these theme parks when all your children are above 130 cm .
• The minimum height for 70% of rides is 130 cm .
• If your child is below 110 cm , only 10% of rides are available.

Importantly, Saudi Arabia also offers e-visa to GCC residents to boost tourism. It allows residents of Dubai or any other UAE emirate to seek an e-visa instead of applying for a visa through VFS or the consulate. Therefore, getting a Saudi tourist visa from Dubai takes minimal time.

The Saudi e-visa is valid for 1 year, allowing you to stay in the country for up to 90 days (3 months).

• A completed Saudi Visa application form
• Proof of medical insurance
• Proof of accommodation (Hotel booking)

While applying, keep in consideration that your passport photo must meet certain criteria levied by the Saudi government. The picture should be 200 x 200 in width and height, while the image size must be 5 to 100 Kb. Your face should be visible, including your forehead, ears and chin.

How to Apply for a Saudi Visit Visa from the UAE

Now that you have all the documents ready, you can apply for the Saudi visit visa online. Follow the steps below for a successful online Saudi visa application:

• Visit the Saudi e-Visa Website .
• Click on ‘Apply Now’.
• If you have an existing account, click on the ‘Sign in’ button; proceed by typing in your email address, password and the captcha, and then log in.
• If you are creating your account for the first time, select your passport type, country or nationality, enter the captcha and select ‘Next’
• Once the form opens, insert the photo – make sure you meet the photo requirements.
• Input your details, such as type, number, expiry date, purpose of visit and address in KSA. If you’re staying at a hotel, click ‘Commercial Accommodation’ and enter the hotel address and contact number.
• Submit your medical insurance that covers the stay of your trip. Please ensure that you fill in the relevant information correctly.
• Read the terms and conditions and proceed to ‘agree/next’.
• Before paying via your credit or debit card, ensure all the details are correct, otherwise you risk getting your visa rejected.

Once the application is sent, the government will process the visa within 3 to 4 business days. In case your application is successful, you’ll receive your Saudi e-visa via email.

If you are 75 years old and above, and applying for this visa, you will have to pay additional money for insurance because the regular insurance does not cover people aged 75 years and above.

Validity Period for Saudi Visa

The Saudi Arabia visa for UAE residents is a multiple entry type of visa and is valid for one year after the date you enter Saudi. You can enter and exit Saudi multiple times in that one year when using this visa. The total number of days you stay in Saudi should however not exceed 90 days.

Process to Get the Saudi Visa for UAE Residents

A Saudi Arabia visa for UAE residents is only applied online and not at the embassy. Contact an authorized visa agency like Arabiers, who will easily apply for the visa on your behalf.

Below is the process to apply for a Saudi visa in the UAE :

• 01   Contact Arabiers UAE and inform us the reason you want to travel to Saudi, whether for tourism or you are going to perform Umrah
• 02   Also inform us the airport you want to land at in Saudi
• 03   Tell us the date you intend to travel to Saudi and how long you will stay there
• 04   We will then send you a double-secured payment link where you can pay the visa fees
• 05   The Arabiers team will proceed to apply for your Saudi visa and also apply for an insurance
• 08   Once the visa and insurance are approved, the Arabiers team will contact you
• 06   Your visa will be ready in 2 to 3 working days
• 07   After that, we will send you the visa in PDF format either in WhatsApp or email
• 08   After receiving the visa, you can then book a flight to Saudi Arabia and book a hotel
• 09   We will then double check the insurance to ensure that it is active

Insurance for Saudi Visa

Every visitor entering the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including UAE residents must have a valid travel insurance to be allowed into the country.

When you apply for a Saudi visa, your insurance policy is activated on the date you are expected to travel to Saudi, that is the date registered on MOFAA’s Visa Issuance System (Enjaz).

Immediately the insurance policy gets activated, we will email you with an electronic copy of the insurance and an electronic medial card.

If you want to cancel the insurance, you will also have to cancel your Saudi visit visa from the Saudi Embassy or the consulate office.

Moreover, if the Saudi visit visa is issued after the date you expected to arrive in Saudi, we will activate your travel insurance on the date your visa is issued to you.

UAE Visitors & Visiting Saudi

If you are currently in the UAE with a UAE on -arrival or prepaid visit visa, you can still visit Saudi Arabia by applying for a Saudi Arabia visit visa from the UAE.

There are three categories of UAE visitors looking to apply for a Saudi visa :

• Visa on arrival to Saudi Arabia
• Special country nationals
• Rest of the country nationals

Visa on-arrival to Saudi Arabia

If you are a permanent resident of the UK, US or EU, you can enter Saudi Arabia freely when visiting the UAE. You will be issued with an on-arrival visa to Saudi when you enter the country.

Permanent residents of the above-mentioned countries qualify to get 12 months on arrival visa to Saudi Arabia.

Special Country Nationals

If you are a citizen of the countries mentioned below and has travelled to the UAE, you qualify to apply for a Saudi e-visa in the UAE the same way the UAE residents do. You do not need to have a UAE resident visa to apply for the Saudi Arabia e-visa from the UAE.

Rest of the country Nationals

If your country has not been mentioned in any of the above categories and you also don’t have a UAE residence visa, you need to visit the nearest Saudi Arabia embassy in the UAE and apply for visa.

When going to the embassy you need to carry some documents as they will be asked for :

• Proof of accommodation.
• A return ticket.
• Proof of employment.
• Financial solvency/Bank statement.
• Flight itinerary.
• Your personal information such as your home address.

Condition for Saudi visa from UAE

• A UAE residence visa that is valid for at least 3 months
• A passport valid for at least 6 months
• If also a child is applying, they should wait until the visa of their parent is approved
• You should have an occupation in a profession that is approved

Updates about Saudi Visa for UAE Residents

Saudi Arabia just like many other countries loosened the Covid-19 requirements and tourist no longer have to take a test to enter the country. You also don’t need to quarantine when you enter the country as it was in the past.

When you visit Saudi Arabia , do not be in a hurry to leave without visiting the popular places in the country. Below are some of the places that you can visit when you travel to Saudi Arabia :

1. Eve’s Tomb, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

The Eve’s tomb is an iconic place, is the burial place of Eve who is known to be the first woman on earth and the grandmother of humanity. The tomb is located in the old town of Jeddah, which is the second largest city in Saudi Arabia.

Jeddah is the Arabi name for Eve, meaning that the tomb is so iconic that the whole city is named after it. The burial place has been documented sine the 12th century when Ibn Jubayr wrote about it and it was partly destroyed by Prine Faisal, the viceroy of Hejaz in 1928.

2. Dune Bashing in Qasim, Saudi Arabia

Just like in the UAE, dune bashing is also a popular activity in the Saudi Arabia deserts. Board a dune buggy and explore the Arabian deserts in this challenging yet exciting activity.

Some of the popular dune bashing locations in Saudi Arabia include the deserts of Jeddah and Riyadh.

3. Thee (Zee) Ain Ancient Village, Bidah Valley, Saudi Arabia

The ancient Ain village is found in the Bidah Valley in western Saudi Arabia. The village looks like a paradise with mountains n all three sides surrounding the houses that are made of polished stones.

The houses still look the same since it was constructed in the 8th century C.E. Zee Ain village has seen many tribal battles before King Abdul Aziz united it and now it is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

4. Al Wahbah Salt Crater

The Al Wahbah crater is one of the most famous places in Saudi Arabia largely because of its resemblance to the moon. If you have seen the Silent Sea movie in Netflix, then you probably have an ideal of how it looks like to go for a space adventure.

The Al Wahbah crater is located 250 kilometers away when walking around from Taif. The crater has a diameter of 6.9 kilometers and was formed as a result of a volcanic activity underground. It is also covered with white sodium phosphate crystals at the bottom.

5. The Edge of the World

The Edge of the World in Jebel Fihrayn is a unique geological wonder in the rocky desert of Riyadh Saudi Arabia. They are actually cliffs that rise high from the desert and stretch towards the sky, making them appear like a natural skyscraper.

Climb the trails around the cliffs and get on the top, from where if you look at the horizon you get an ethereal view of the sky meeting the earth. When hiking here, ensure you look out for the fossils, the sharp rocks and be careful as the gravel here is loose.

6. Tuwaiq Palace Heart Tent

The Tuwaiq Palace in Riyadh was in the past known as the diplomatic club, and is a beautiful structure that looks like a giant tent built with stained glass.

When you enter the palace, it feels like you are entering an oasis which offers you magical views of Riyadh. Many events are usually hosted here, including events for foreigners that are typically considered as taboo in Saudi Arabia like men and women smoking shisha in the same area.

The event area is decorated with Arab-styled finishings, with a comfortable outdoor environments and seating arrangements.

7. The Narrow Corridors of Al ‘Ula

Walking through the narrow corridors of Al ‘Ula in northwest Saudi feels like you are passing through a maze with a historical twist every time you turn. Al ‘Ula was in the past a town with over 800 closely built mud, brick and stone houses which have now become abandoned ruins.

The structures are more than 2000 years old and the city was founded in the 6th century B.C.

8. Lion Tombs of Dadan

There are many tombs in Hegra, Mada’in Saleh, around the Al -Ula region which were built by the Nabateans in the first century. After some archaeological excavations were done, it was discovered that there was an even older civilization in Dadan, also called Lihyan.

9. The Judah Thumb

The city of Judah found between Riyadh and Dammam in the eastern province of Saudi Arabia. In the Judah desert, there is a towering rock formation that looks like a thumb and is often referred to as the ‘Devils Thing’.

10. Al Shinanah Historical Tower

Ar Rass, the Arabic name for Old Well is one of the largest urban centers in Al -Qassim province and the 3rd most populated city in Saudia.

The city is known for being a water source and is a famous trade center with pilgrimage routes that run through it.

The Al Shinanah historical tower is also located in Ar Rass, a distance of 350 kilometers northwest of Riyadh. The tower is conical shaped, 88.5 feet tall and a diameter of 20 feet at the base at 5 feet at the top.

The interior of the tower has 8 floors and each floor has 3 different windows where you an enjoy views of the surrounding areas.

People with a UAE residence visa can apply for a Saudia visa online through the e-visa program.

A Saudi Arabia visa usually takes 2 to 3 working days to be ready.

The Saudi Arabia immigration does not ask you to do a medical checkup when applying for a Saudi visa from the UAE.

If you need to stay for more days in Saudi Arabia due to unforeseen reasons like medical emergencies, unexpected delays or any other valid reason, you can extend your Saudi visa.

You need to contact the nearest Saudi immigration or the relevant authority to avoid have issues with the authorities.

A person with a UAE residence visa can still apply for a Saudi Arabia visa even if they are citizens of another country.

If you apply for a Saudi visa and it gets denied, the Saudi immigration will tell you the reasons why they rejected the visa, and with that you can decide the action to take.

You will not be refunded the fees you paid when applying for visa even if the application gets rejected.

Major Schengen visa update for Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia and India

Under the new arrangement, nationals of Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Bahrain will be eligible for five-year multiple-entry Schengen visas

Passport holders from Bahrain, Oman and Saudi Arabia, are set to benefit from extended travel privileges as the European Union (EU) announced the issuance of five-year multiple-entry Schengen visas.

The announcement was made by Josep Borrell, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, during the High-Level Forum on Regional Security and Cooperation held in Luxembourg.

He said, “I would like to welcome the adoption by the [European] Commission this morning of decisions that will allow to harmonise the rules on the issuing of multiple-entry visas for GCC countries.”

Borrell expressed the EU’s commitment to strengthening relations with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries by harmonising visa rules.

Schengen visa changes

Under the new arrangement, nationals of Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Bahrain will be eligible for five-year multiple-entry Schengen visas, allowing them to make multiple visits to Schengen Area countries within a calendar year.

However, travellers must adhere to the 90/180-day rule, limiting stays to a maximum of three months within any six-month period.

While specific details are yet to be officially released by EU authorities, it is anticipated that first-time applicants and eligible passport holders from the mentioned countries will benefit from the extended visa validity as well.

Notably, citizens of the UAE are currently the only GCC nationals who enjoy a visa-free entry to the Schengen Area, while discussions are ongoing between other GCC nations and the EU to further ease visa requirements.

Earlier this year, talks saw EU countries consider the lifting of visa requirements for nationals of Kuwait and Qatar based on several key criteria, as revealed in a recent report:

• Irregular migration
• Public policy and security
• Economic benefits
• EU relations with the countries

The European Union Commission’s assessment concluded that both Kuwait and Qatar present a low risk in terms of irregular immigration.

Should the European visa requirements for these GCC countries be lifted, travellers would be eligible for the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS).

Indian nationals benefit from new Schengen visa rule change

In addition to the visa changes for Gulf citizens, the EU has also adopted more favorable Schengen visa rules for Indian nationals.

Eligible Indian travellers with an established travel history and prior Schengen visa usage will now be granted multiple-entry visas with extended validity, starting from two years and potentially extending to five years, subject to passport validity.

Previously, the standard rules of the Visa Code applied.

Travelling to Europe has become much more convenient for GCC and Indian visitors. The European Commission has approved new regulations for the issuance of Schengen visas to citizens of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman and India who live in their home countries.

Under the new system, Saudi, Bahraini and Omanis will now have access to multiple-entry visas, allowing them to travel to 29 European countries using the same visa within five years.

This implementation has significantly simplified the process of obtaining a Schengen visa, making it much more convenient for eligible applicants, even first-time applicants. They can now look forward to receiving a multiple-entry visa that remains valid for up to five years, relieving them of the stress of frequent visa applications.

"The European Commission has adopted new rules for the issuance of Schengen visas for Saudi, Bahraini and Omani nationals residing in their home country. It is an important step promoting people-to-people contacts and facilitating exchanges between the EU and GCC citizens," the delegation of the European Union in GCC posted on X.

Kuwaitis can be issued with long-term, multi-entry Schengen visas valid for five years. UAE nationals enjoy visa-free travel to the Schengen nations, permitting stays of up to three months at a time. However, a Schengen visa is a must for UAE residents.

Additionally, the European Commission adopted specific rules on issuing multiple entry visas to Indians. Under the new regulations, Indian travellers are now eligible to obtain a two-year Schengen visa, a significant enhancement compared to the shorter validity periods previously offered.

To qualify for this extended visa, applicants must have obtained and used two Schengen visas within the last three years in accordance with the regulations. Upon successfully utilising the two-year visa, travellers can typically anticipate eligibility for a five-year Schengen visa, subject to the maintenance of sufficient passport validity.

This decision comes in the context of strengthened relations under the EU-India Common Agenda on Migration and Mobility, which seeks comprehensive cooperation on migration policy between the EU and India, with the facilitation of people-to-people contacts being a key aspect due to the importance of India as a partner for the EU.

These changes ease the visa application process and facilitate smoother travel experiences.

Schengen visas allow the holder to travel freely in the Schengen area for short stays of a maximum of 90 days in any 180-day period. The visas are not purpose-bound, but they do not grant the right to work. The Schengen area consists of 29 European countries (of which 25 are EU states): Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Greece, Spain, France, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Hungary, Malta, Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Finland and Sweden, along with Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.

Would-be pilgrims must meet vaccination criteria and obtain official permits

Dubai: Saudi Arabia has announced updated conditions for performing Hajj in 2024, which include several new requirements aimed at ensuring the health and safety of pilgrims.

The Ministries of Hajj and Umrah, along with the Ministry of Health, specified that all pilgrims must obtain a Hajj permit through the Nusk platform, which is crucial for the legitimacy of their pilgrimage.

Additionally, registration through the Sehaty application is required to verify vaccination status.

Key conditions set forth for the 2024 Hajj include:

• Mandatory registration in the Sehaty app to confirm necessary vaccinations.

• Residents within Saudi Arabia must have received the COVID-19 vaccine, influenza vaccine, and meningitis vaccine within the last five years.

• International pilgrims are required to have the Neisseria meningitidis vaccine administered at least 10 days but not more than five years prior to their arrival, verified by a certificate from their home country. They must also be vaccinated against polio.

Required Documents for Saudi Arabia Tourist (short-term Tourist Visa- 1 year)

Passport:  Home country passport with a minimum of six months validity. The new passport should have a minimum of 3 blank pages and also should submit the old passport if any.

Application Form: Duly filled application form issued by the Embassy of Saudi Arabia. Fully concluded in English or Greek and signed and dated by the applicant himself ( signed by both parents in case of minors, below the age of 18)

Valid UAE Residency:  Emirates ID and Copy of the stamped residency visa (valid at least three months from the date of expiry of the requested visa / intended end of the journey)

Photocopies:

• 1 passport copy of pages containing personal data
• 1 copy of the signature page (signed by the passport holder
• 1 copy of UAE residence permit/visa
• Copies of previous Schengen visa if any
• For GCC Nationals- Copy of valid Emirates ID card

Personal Photograph: 2 recent colour photographs

• Two identical photos. Not older than six months.
• Photo size: 35x45mm.
• In colour. No black and white
• The Head should take 70-80% of the photo.
• Brightly coloured background. Light grey is suggested. No patterns.
• Facing the camera
• Neutral face expression
• Avoid uniforms or colours matching the background.

Medical Insurance- Overseas Travel Insurance

Requirements:  Your insurance should be valid for the entire period of the requested visa and all Schengen countries. Minimum coverage 30,000 € (or equal amount USD) and repatriation. (Medical insurances of credit cards are not accepted).

Letter from local employer/sponsor (NOL)-NOC Letter from the Employer:  The NOC should include name, postal address and telephone number of sponsor/company, with details about applicant’s working position, starting date of employment and salary and expected date to resume duties and purpose of travel. In the case of a partner, NOC should be obtained from other partners and Also valid trade license copy for the investor/partner of the company should be attached with the NOC.

In case of dependents-  Sponsors valid passport copy and UAE residence visa to be attached with the cover letter.

If minors below the age of 18 (if applicable) – establishing legal parenthood: Copy of either birth certificate/proof of adoption/custody decree, if parents are divorced / death certificate of parent (The Saudi Consulate may request to submit the original document at a later stage).

Documents, need to be translated into English. “Letter of consent” (Authorization of Minors) from parents, including passport copies and valid UAE residence visa copies of both parents/ legal guardians in case the children are travelling with others.

• Confirmed return flight tickets
• Hotel Reservation
• Day wise travel plan (Itinerary)

Proof of sufficient financial means:

• Three months original stamped and signed personal bank statement showing regular income, no deposits. Company owners can submit the bank statement of the company with a letter from the bank proving he is a signatory on this bank account.
• Bank statements should not be “credit card statements”. If not enough balance on the current account, The applicant can also submit the personal saving account (cash is not accepted as proof of funds).
• For retired persons: proof of pension or other regular income.
• Please highlight your regular income (salary, pension, etc…) on the bank statement.
