El Mundial de Qatar 2022 representa una de los eventos más esperados por los fanáticos que se encuentran en diferentes rincones del planeta. La máxima cita del fútbol internacional reúne a selecciones de primer nivel y a las principales estrellas de este deporte, pero sobre todo ofrece la posibilidad de unir la pasión que comparten millones de simpatizantes.

En esta ocasión, la Copa del Mundo afronta un escenario inédito. Esto se debe a que por primera vez no se disputa a mediados de año, sino que se celebrará desde el 20 de noviembre hasta el 18 de diciembre para que los futbolistas, entrenadores e hinchas no tengan que exponerse a las elevadas temperaturas que caracterizan al país anfitrión en junio y julio.

La fase de grupos tendrá una duración de 13 días y se pondrá en marcha a partir del domingo 20 de noviembre, cuando el local Qatar se enfrente con Ecuador. Luego, se jugarán cuatro compromisos por jornada hasta culminar la primera fase el viernes 2 de diciembre. Desde entonces, se llevarán a cabo las rondas eliminatorias, que serán a partido único .

En un período repleto de actividad, solo habrá seis días de descanso , en los cuales los equipos que continúan en carrera podrán prepararse para los siguientes desafíos. Las jornadas sin duelos serán después de los octavos de final (el miércoles 7 y jueves 8 de diciembre), tras los cuartos (domingo 11 y lunes 12 de diciembre) y una vez concluidas las semifinales (jueves 15 y viernes 16 de diciembre).

Un accidente de tranvía en Universal Studios Hollywood en Los Ángeles hirió a 15 personas el sábado por la noche, dijeron las autoridades y la compañía.

Unidades de bomberos fueron enviadas al parque temático en Lankershim Boulevard poco después de las 9 de la noche, informó el departamento en redes sociales.

Las víctimas trasladadas a hospitales del área sufrieron heridas leves, dijo el departamento.

Un portavoz de Universal Studios Hollywood envió un comunicado por correo electrónico a The Associated Press confirmando que hubo “múltiples lesiones menores” en un accidente que involucró a un tranvía en el parque temático.

Los detalles del accidente no estuvieron disponibles de inmediato.

La Patrulla de Caminos de California dirigirá la investigación, dijo el departamento de bomberos.
