I enjoyed all of the holiday, the coach driver Carol made it more special she was nice and very funny. We were blessed with great weather, from start to finish fantastic

Currently suffering on a glenton coach tour. Herefordshire Gems. If you haven’t booked yet, cancel!!! On a good companions tour, no host on the bus. Very important if travelling alone, phoned glento to complain and found out they knew about this 3 days before start of tour but passengers not told until 2 hours in to journey. Not a glenton coach, not a glenton driver. I admit Scott our driver was superb and tried everything to help us. The hotel Aubrey Park Hotlel is awful. Supposed 4 star, nearer 2 star. No toiletries other than tiny soap bar and a phial of Argan oil ? No shampoo, conditioner, bubbles even suppplied. All meals buffet style. Food cold, not even a fried egg at breakfast. Fish in evening was inedible. Hotel very tired and needing fresh paint. I will never book with Glenton again and will tell all my friends and social media. When I spoke to glento about the host situation the person I spoke to, Liz Bennet, was very rude and told me to write in. I will do this on my return as will many other passengers.

My husband and I were on a coach trip to the Isle of man recently. It was too long a journey, 10 hours. Stopped at Wakefield. Had to pick 4 people up from their homes after us in bradford. They lived in Huddersfield at 3 different addresses. It was a large travel taxi and the driver was good but...it took about 3 hours. Then from Wakefield to heysham ferry port for the boat along the M6. Horrendously long journey . 3 and a half hour journey across the Irish Sea to the Isle of Man. The ferry was on a go slow because of rising ⛽ costs. The coach journeys in the Isle of Man were pretty boring. The driver, Brynn didn't know anything at all about the places we visited. I asked him about one place and he said basically they're all the same. Why couldn't he read up about it. We didn't know where to go really, in Ramsay or other small places which had lovely beaches but not enough time there to get to them. We liked Peel. We liked Castletown. That was the most time we spent anywhere. The train up to Ramsay was OK but too long. Little room too, crushed in with other people, knees almost touching. We wouldn't go again with Palmer. Not very well organised. 2 long train journeys and 1 day off at the end. Why not a day off in the middle to explore Douglas? The driver could have told us a little more. I will try another coach company next time.

Amsterdam Bulb Fields Trip First time with Glenton. Our pick up was Glasgow and pick up was an hour late. Driver was most unprofessional - swearing whilst driving, repeatedly told us he knew no more than us as he had not done the trip before. However, he was kind and helpful to an elderly couple who required support. Tour was poorly planned, with travelling times but as advertised. This meant we missed seeing some parts. The boat part of the tour was excellent. The food was lovely and staff were very pleasant (particularly so, on the day we were given envelopes for tipping!). Accommodation was clean and comfortable.

Glenton coaches, found them to be could not care less not our problem we /someone will call you back ? left to fend for ourself when ill on tour Left Bathgate 6.15 am did not arrive at hotel in Carrick on Shannon till almost 7 pm. Only one toilet stop between Bathgate and ferry terminal bus parked on double vellow line Girvan high st, no refreshments at all. In Ireland stoped in Enniskillen at a small garden centre 45 min stop 45 passengers toilet was a 6x6 converted garden shed one toilet bowl one sink for both male/female my wife took ill because of this horrendous journey and had to seek medical attention Glenton did not respond to our calls for assistance the holiday was spent in hotel room. Quote Glenton on our return ( We do not consider that her ill health was in anyway due to the service we provided ) they failed in there duty of care BEWARE using Glentons

We have used glenton holidays a few times, two day trips and once for a cruise. The coaches are very comfortable and door to door service is fantastic. You even get a goody bag which includes things, such as a puzzle book, pen, water, crisps, sweets, etc. It is a little more expensive than other coach companies but it's worth it!

Tour Itinerary

Tour information, tour route map.

Just 40 minutes from Glasgow and we reach our first stop of the day. Here we’ll enjoy morning refreshments on the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond with some wonderful views looking over to Ben Lomond.

As we travel through Rannoch Moor towards Glencoe your driver-guide will point out Buachaille Etive Mor. This is where 007 and M drove to reach ‘Skyfall’. This area was also used in many scenes from the Harry Potter films and you’ll have time here to explore the stunning scenery of Scotland’s most famous glen.

One of Scotland’s darkest periods in Scottish history, the Glencoe massacre, took place here in 1692. 38 men, women and children of the clan MacDonald were murdered by government forces as they slept. You can learn more on this tragic story at the Glencoe visitor centre .

At the Glencoe Turf House, you ‘ll be able to see what life must have been like for the 500-600 strong community that lived here in 17th century Glencoe.

For many the highlight of the journey is Glenfinnan, and our arrival here will give you plenty time to get to the best viewpoints to see the Jacobite Steam Train cross the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct as seen in the Harry Potter movies.

On one side you have views of the Glenfinnan Viaduct curving through the glen in a scene immortalised as the route to Harry Potter’s Hogwarts. On the other side you have stunning views of the Glenfinnan Monument standing at the head of Loch Shiel

Tarbet at Loch Lomond - Glenfinnan, Mallaig & Jacobite Tour

Glenfinnan isn’t only famous for its Harry Potter connection. Bonnie Prince Charlie first raised the Jacobite Standard in his fabled but ultimately doomed attempt to re-take the thrones of Scotland, England & Ireland. Learn more at the excellent exhibition in the visitor centre and be sure to visit the monument on the shores of Loch Shiel that marks the spot.

Loch Shiel (the ’Black Lake’) was also used in many Harry Potter films such as The Prisoner of Azkaban and The Half-Blood Prince. It was also used in a scene from the Triwizard Tournament in The Goblet of Fire.

Take a walk down to the shores of Loch Shiel (Hogwarts Lake aka the Black Lake), we are sure you’ll be safe from any lurking Grindylows.

Our last stop is at the Drovers Inn , a traditional Scottish pub and historic resting point for weary travellers of old. Enjoy an evening refreshment in front of a roaring log fire once enjoyed by the infamous outlaw Rob Roy MacGregor. Please Note: *The Jacobite steam train doesn’t operate during the winter. You will still be able see the Glenfinnan Viaduct & visit Glenfinnan Monument during this time. 2024 * The Jacobite Steam Train will commence operating again from 28 th March to 25 th October 2024. Updated 13th April 2024. The operators of the Jacobite steam train have announced that the train will now run from 15th April.

Tour Highlights

Loch Lomond, Glencoe, Rannoch Moor, Fort William, Loch Shiel (the Black Lake), see the Jacobite Steam Train cross the Glenfinnan Viaduct, Glenfinnan Monument and the Drovers Inn.

Do we see the Jacobite Steam Train cross the viaduct?

The Jacobite Steam Train is scheduled to operate from March 28th 2024 – 25th October 2024. We aim to reach Glenfinnan in time to see the train crossing (subject to the train operating per their timetable). There is a great viewpoint to get photos of the train as it travels across the viaduct.

The train does not operate from 26th October 2024 – March 2025. During this time our tour still visits the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct & Monument
