an ever-changing landscape

Your experience begins by cruising under the Sydney Harbour Bridge and past the Sydney Opera House – two of Australia’s most iconic attractions. Heading east, pass by the Royal Australian Navy Base located on Garden Island, towards Watson’s Bay. On the return journey, via the north side of the harbour, pass by Clifton Gardens, Bradleys Head, Taronga Zoo, Kirribilli House (home of the Prime Minister) and Luna Park before returning to Darling Harbour.

We took the 3 hour tour and saw soooo many sites. We would have easily paid a lot more for this tour for the exceptional service and experience we received.

I had a fantastic afternoon with Ellie and Zain. They gave a us lovely personalised tour. The highlight was being able to step of the boat onto a secluded beach that was only accessible by boat, for a while we were the only ones on the beach. The tea and cake provided was extra nice touch too.

My husband and I and our two daughters, ages 10 and 12, really enjoyed our afternoon tour of Sydney Harbor with SHBT! It was a great introduction to all of the Sydney Harbor sights, a tour of some of the bays (homes of the rich and famous and a naval base), and a few beach stops at beautiful national park beaches.

We had a great 3 hour boat trip with the brand new Axopar boat named Spectre. A beautiful, fast and very comfortable boat. Perfect for 8 people. The crew was very professional and serviceminded. Great service also from the office. I highly recommend this company.

The best time i’ve ever had in Sydney. I got a chance to learn more about the Australian history. Overall my experience was phenomenal

Besides a fantastic time on the water, you can expect to see all the beautiful sights on Sydney Harbour. Most boat cruises will head past the Sydney Opera house and Harbour bridge, so make sure you have your camera ready for that incredible photo with these landmarks in the background. In addition, boat cruises that include food and drinks will typically find a calm area so you can enjoy your menu of delights. Sailing past Taronga Zoo, Luna Park, and even some of the historical forts are other sights you can expect to see on your Sydney Harbour boat tour.

What happens to my boat cruise in bad weather?

In bad weather, boats still tend to go out. Boat cruise cancellations don’t occur in rainy weather unless deemed unsafe. For a complete list of cancellation policies, please read each boat cruise’s terms and conditions carefully.

Can I swim on my boat cruise?

Many people ask, can I swim in Sydney Harbour? The answer is yes, you can!

Some of our boat tours allow you to go for a swim. The ‘Sydney icons, bays & beaches cruise’ and’ Sydney Harbour Secrets cruise’ do have beach stops and allow for a quick swim. Some of our other lunch and dinner cruises do not allow swimming as they are on a tighter schedule. Please read the boat cruise description for more information.

What’s included in my boat tour?

The boat tours we have selected offer a variety of experiences. You can choose from lunch, dinner, sunset or sightseeing cruises. For each boat cruise, what comes included will be different. Please read the tour description carefully to ensure what to expect on the water.

Are there bathrooms on my boat cruise?

The boat cruises will have a bathroom on board or have a stop in the tour where you can find restroom facilities.

Please remember that these are marine toilets for boats with bathrooms on board. Only put what comes out of you into the toilet. Make sure you read any instructions in the bathroom for how to properly operate the restroom or check with the crew on board.

What should I bring on my boat cruise?

Each cruise is different, so read the what to bring section in the boat cruise description.

Your boat cruise will be on the harbour. Dress appropriately for the weather. On sunny days, bring a hat, sunnies, and sunscreen. For cooler days, make sure you have something warm. Most boats will have an area inside for cover. Bring comfortable shoes and heels are typically not allowed on the ship for safety reasons and to make sure it doesn’t damage the floor.

If your boat cruise allows for swimming, bring a towel and swimwear.

Wonderful, leisurely sail around sydney harbour.

A thoroughly enjoyable jaunt, and so quintessentially ‘Sydney’.Much more relaxed and easy going than expected, with great laughs and plenty of history with host Howard and Captain (?) Awesome Sunset Cruise

What a great afternoon/evening. Keegan (the M.C.) was great as were the rest of the crew. Really friendly & helpful AND the “deck girls” – fearless. (climbing up the rigging & setting the sails) Sydney harbour was as always – magnificent. Food was great as were the people we met on board. The mast climb is an ABSOLUTE MUST and the views of Sydney Harbour from the Crows Nest are out of this world. Hardest part is getting the world to hold still whilst you try to take pictures up the mast. !!! Summary…. MUST DO.

Mast Climb Was Amazing!

Coming from Sydney I was not sure I would enjoy. How wrong can you be! It was great, Sydney turned on a gorgeous day and I would highly recommend the mast climb, it was a little hard work for us over 50’s but I got there in the finish.

A Must-do Experience

I thought this trip was excellent with all the activities available, when it is over you want more! An awesome day on the harbour.

I can’t say enough for this activity it was FANTASTIC! As well as laser clay shooting they ran mast climbing where two people could climb the mast of the sip and hang out in the wind. Perfect way to enjoy Sydney Harbour

We took a 2.5h sunset cruise on the Soren Larsen for a large group from work.Sydney harbour is a real natural wonder and seeing it from a beautiful period boat was spectacular.The ship itself was wonderful (solid oak, real sails and rigging etc.) and had actually made the voyage from Denmark to Sydney. Plus, you could climb up it :-)The staff were knowledgable, entertaining and couldn’t have done more to look after us. Personally I really enjoyed learning about the history of the boat and it’s voyage around the world to reach Sydney.We also enjoyed food and drinks on board which were pretty varied and very good.Highlights of the trip were mast climbing, cruising back from shark island using wind power only and watching the sun go down to be replaced by the Vivid lights.Overall this was a great team event for us and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

Whether you’re a traveller new to Sydney’s shores, a passenger on a cruise ship or a proud local, time out on the harbour is always memorable. With a wide range of cruises available, there’s no excuse not to climb aboard!

Ask a local and they might tell you to forgo a cruise and take a ferry ride instead. I say do both, while the ferry is great, and you should take as many as you have time for, a harbour cruise is a special experience that allows you to spend more time on the water, see parts the ferry routes don’t cover, and learn more about the history of the city and its iconic waterway.

If the swell is not too high, the boat will stop at Quarantine Station and you can visit the museum there. An alternate stop is the beautiful Parsley Bay. There is also the option to stop at Watsons Bay. Regardless, the stop allows time to visit the local cafes for some morning tea. This cruise is not wheelchair accessible.

If you want to spend a few days exploring the bays and islands of the harbour, then these services are a great idea. They require a bit of planning and some stops can be reached via public ferry, but these HOHO ferries allow you to forget about working out ferry routes and make a day on the harbour easy!

The two HOHO boat services in Sydney are:

• Fantasea Hop on Hop Off ferry

Either of these will give you a great day with some planning.

There are two operators and not a lot of difference between them in service or price. They both stop at Circular Quay, Barangaroo, Taronga Zoo, and Watsons Bay. The Captain Cook service stops at Shark Island and Manly. The Fantsea HOHO does not include these two stops, but it includes access to the Manly Fast Ferry in the price of your ticket.

Which cruise do you think is better and why?

Does the Rocket Sightseeing cruise pass near and close to the Harbour Bridge and Opera House?

As I need to catch the ferry to Manly twice later in the week of my August visit, to visit a national park located in North Sydney . - I wasn't sure if it is worth doing the Rocket Sightseeing Cruise that goes near Manly.

Most advice is to just catch the ferry to Manly - cheaper and you see the same sights eg Opera House, Bradleys Head, main harbour, The Heads. Plus more frequent trips so suits your timing.

RE catching the ferry to Manly, public transport is more the sufficient.

We enjoyed the Captain Cook harbour experience a very gentle tour round the harbour. And also the Manly fast ferry.

If using the fast ferry you can use the Opal travel card that is valid for public buses and trains. The ferry fare is $12 each way but the Opal card is capped at around $18 a day. We found the Opal card very useful.

AFAIK the Opal card is only used for the normal Manly ferry - Not the fast ferry which is privately run Uou can

Certainly use a credit card for the fast ferry though.

You can. Use Opal card to pay for MFF but the coyis not included in any caps.

Traffic was brought to a standstill in a major Sydney tunnel when a mobile crane caught on fire just in time for peak hour.

A crane fire in a major Sydney tunnel that halted traffic at the start of morning peak hour has now been cleared and traffic is flowing.

The mobile crane was on fire on the eastbound side of the Lane Cove Tunnel; diversions had been in place but were lifted just after 9am on Thursday.

Government agency Transport for NSW reported the fire about 6.30am on Thursday.

“Traffic is already heavy, especially towards the city, so motorists are advised to allow plenty of extra travel time,” a government advisory reads.

Transport for NSW spokesman Craig Moran told 2GB that motorists should avoid the area.

“There has been a fire involving a mobile crane which has resulted in the Lane Cove Tunnel being closed in both directions,” he said.

“That’s purely for safety reasons … of course all the traffic is being diverted up onto Epping Rd.

“Our advice for people at this stage if they haven’t headed off on their journey yet, if they can avoid that lane cove tunnel area up there up at lane cove that would be fantastic.

“It’ll help bring congestion down and they’ll probably have a smoother trip.”

A Fire and Rescue NSW spokesman said the internal sprinkler system extinguished the fire.

Four fire trucks were delayed because of the traffic and arrived about 14 minutes after the call came in, he said.

Firefighters donned breathing apparatus but when they arrived at the vehicle the sprinkler “deluge” system had put out the fire.

The Fire and Rescue NSW spokesman had no information about the cause of the fire or how many vehicles were stuck in the tunnel behind the fire.

Police would need to make sure anyone who got out of their vehicles was accounted for, the spokesman said, but there were no reported injuries.

The tunnel would be reopened within a couple of hours, which indicated there was little to no damage to the underpass, he said.

Police will launch road safety operations and motorists in some states will face double demerit points for road offences committed over the Anzac Day period.
