Our planners collaborate with you to understand your goals, preferences, and budget, ensuring that every aspect of your trip aligns with your band’s mission. Band Trip Ideas: Musical Adventures Await

Band trips are an opportunity for musical adventures that transcend the confines of a rehearsal room. Here are some band trip ideas to inspire your ensemble:

  • Local Music Immersion : Explore the rich music heritage of your destination by attending local performances, visiting music museums, and engaging with musicians from the area.
  • Collaborative Workshops : Arrange workshops with local or international musicians to learn new techniques, styles, and musical perspectives.
  • Performance Opportunities : Showcase your band’s talent through live performances at iconic venues, festivals, or community events.
  • Cultural Exploration : Immerse in the local culture through guided tours, culinary experiences, and historical excursions to deepen your understanding of the music’s context.
  • Cross-Curricular Learning : Integrate music with other subjects by incorporating visits to historical sites, science centers, or art museums that complement your band’s educational journey.

Band Trip Budget: Crafting Musical Adventures within Your Means

Crafting a budget for your band trip is a critical aspect of planning. While some band trips may have generous funding, others may need to operate on a tighter budget. Here are some band trip budget considerations to help you make the most of your resources:

  • Fundraising Ideas : Explore creative fundraising ideas to offset trip costs. Consider hosting benefit concerts, bake sales, or partnering with local businesses.
  • Scholarships : Investigate scholarship opportunities for band members, especially those with financial constraints, to ensure inclusivity in your musical journey.
  • Budget-Friendly Accommodations : Opt for affordable accommodations that provide comfort without straining your budget.
  • Travel Grants : Research travel grants or sponsorships available for music education and performance travel to ease financial burdens.

Band Trip Logistics: Harmonizing the Journey

Band trip logistics encompass a wide range of considerations, from transportation and accommodations to instrument handling and meal arrangements. A comprehensive band trip logistics checklist can ensure a seamless journey for your musicians. Here are some key logistics to address:

  • Instrument Handling : Plan for the safe transportation of musical instruments, including securing instrument cases and considering instrument rental options at the destination.
  • Accommodations : Select accommodations that cater to the needs of your ensemble, such as secure storage for instruments and convenient rehearsal spaces.
  • Transportation : Arrange reliable transportation options, whether by bus, plane, or other means, that accommodate both your band members and their instruments.
  • Meals : Plan nutritious meals that fuel your musicians’ energy throughout the trip and accommodate dietary restrictions.

Band Trip Safety: Striking the Right Chord

Safety is paramount when planning a band trip. Implementing band trip safety tips for students ensures that your musicians have a secure and worry-free experience. Here are some safety considerations:

  • Emergency Contacts : Provide students with emergency contact information and establish communication protocols in case of unforeseen events.
  • Medical Preparedness : Carry necessary medical supplies and ensure that students have access to medical care if needed.
  • Travel Insurance : Consider travel insurance to cover unexpected situations such as trip cancellations, medical emergencies, or lost belongings.
  • Supervision : Maintain adequate adult supervision to oversee students’ well-being throughout the trip.

Band Trip Ideas for Different Budgets: Music Knows No Bounds

Band trips can be tailored to accommodate different budgets without compromising the quality of the experience. Here are some band trip ideas for different budgets:

  • Budget-Friendly Destinations : Choose destinations with affordable accommodations, dining options, and activities.
  • Local Performances : Focus on local performances and workshops that reduce travel expenses while providing valuable musical experiences.
  • Collaborative Partnerships : Partner with local schools, music organizations, or community groups to share costs and resources for joint musical endeavors.

Musical Mastery

Revitalize your students’ passion for music and avoid the dreaded mid year plateau. Band trips expose your students to local and international talents at your destination. In doing so, they are encouraged to practice harder and play better while also gathering additional musical knowledge and education that refines their own skills and techniques.

Dynamic Learning

Escape the four walls of your band room and discover a vast world of musical knowledge. Embracing the freedom band trips give, your students will be able to learn independent living skills, as well as adding creativity and deeper appreciation for band. Let the world leave them curious, and continue to inspire your rising artists through band trips – locally and internationally. AND if your colleagues at home are concerned about students losing time in their other classrooms, Peak can assist with cross-curricular itinerary items to complete the student educational experience.

Socialization and Inspiration

A band trip is one of the best ways to give your students something to look forward to as part of their total band experience. It not only adds to your students’ musical knowledge and education but also helps them strengthen their bond with each other, resulting in better cooperation and greater performances for your ensembles. Revive your students’ spirits with Peak Group Travel and reignite excitement in them. From the start to the end of your trip, we have you covered.

” Peak Performance Tours is the best thing going in group travel. The planning is fabulous. The tour guides are responsive, helpful and flexible. On a Peak Performance Trip I can do two things I never could before: spend the majority of my time actually being a teacher for my students AND I can actually enjoy the trip myself. “

Holly High School Band Serenades Hawaii During Summer Trip

Holly high school, holly, mi — june 16, 2020.

The award-winning Holly High School Band graced the island of Oahu, Hawaii, last month with a musical aloha. The band trip, May 22-27, was part of the district’s ongoing commitment to making fine arts central to a well-rounded education that prepares Bronchos for success and careers.

hawaii band trip

“I want to congratulate our student musicians, who embraced this unique opportunity to display their talents in such a beautiful and scenic backdrop that has provided memories to last a lifetime,” said  Ben Baldwin , Holly High School Band director. “Our Hawaii trip was the latest example of the ability of fine arts to provide key life skills that help prepare our Bronchos for the real world.”

Guest Performances

The students performed twice on the island, first with a 30-minute concert at the Pearl Harbor National Memorial on May 23. During the performance, the band was situated across from the World War II submarine USS Bowfin, and within sight of the retired battleship Missouri and the resting place of the sunken Battleship Arizona. The band performed patriotic selections for the audience. Following the performance, the band was presented with an American flag that flew on the USS Bowfin and an engraved wooden Hawaiian bowl commemorating the performance. On May 25, the band performed at the Ala Moana shopping center, the largest outdoor mall in the United States.

The student musicians also had the opportunity to enjoy the local culture, including a trip to the Oahu Polynesian Cultural Center where they learned about the traditions and music of the six main Pacific islands of Hawaii, Fiji, Samoa, Tahiti, Aotearoa, and Tonga. The band also traveled to the base of the Diamondhead volcano and hiked to the summit, providing an up-close view of the Pacific Ocean and the cities of Waikiki and Honolulu from an elevation of 762 feet.

Military Send-Off

On the final day of the trip, the band visited U.S. Marine Corps Base Hawaii to witness the Marine Corps Band perform as part of the 1st Battalion, 12 th  Marines Artillery Unit change of command. The Marine Band later performed for the Broncho band members. That evening, the students enjoyed a dinner cruise on the Star of Honolulu.

“I’d like to thank our Holly High School staff and parent chaperones who made this extraordinary trip possible for our Broncho musicians,” said Scott Roper , Holly Area Schools superintendent. “I’d also like to thank our community for its continued investment in a world-class fine arts program in our schools that helps prepare our students for bright futures.”

I have been using Music Travel Consultants since 2004 and have always been pleased with their organization, professionalism and their ‘can do’ attitude. In 2007 while at BOA Grand Nationals our charter jet broke down just before we were to load to fly home Saturday night.  MTC was able to get all 287 of us in a hotel within two hours and set up flights for us the next day. I can’t imagine another agency being able to do that so MTC will always take my group to Indiana!

Music Travel Consultants Client Mark Stone

Mark Stone Director Emeritus, Ayala HS

Orlando 2018 was a wonderful experience for our students, ensembles, and adult travelers! The tour was designed to provide opportunities for each of the four facets of the music department, the group as a whole, and unique opportunities that would set this trip apart. Our Orlando trip, prepared and presented by Music Travel Consultants, was well organized, creative, and presented in person. MTC's online portal for registeration, payments, and organization. Working with the trip details of rooms, bus lists, payments, and trip documents was a tremendous organizational tool and time saver as a director. The team at Music Travel Consultants delivered an outstanding tour of Disney performances and clinic opportunities for our students. The students enjoyed fun at many of the Disney Parks, great accommodations at Flamingo Crossings, and special events including a final ride on Soarin' and the private party at Test Track. All were a hit and success with the students! Most importantly, the knowledge, expertise, and flexibility of the MTC staff in adjusting meal stops and schedules to accommodate the group made the trip. Thank you to our MTC Orlando Team and everyone at Music Travel Consultants!

Music Travel Consultants Client Thad Driskell

Thad Driskell Director of Bands, Jefferson HS

Chris Forsythe and the MTC team were super in dealing with the postponement of the trip due to the pandemic. The staff's professionalism and accessibility was outstanding as they worked with the numerous questions, concerns, itinerary adjustments and personalities of adult travelers. Chris was always concerned with our safety, happiness in the experiences and comfort for both performances and sight-seeing adventures. Mirjam, our guide, was phenomenal in taking charge, accommodating requests and managing needy travelers, all while loving on us as individuals and as a group. She was funny, direct, strong, compassionate and her heart made us fall in love with her as a person. Tonya and the charter bus were great as well. She kept the coach clean, drove on tiny streets and was flexible with her schedule and time to help us as visitors to her country/city. The performance venues and contacts were unbelievable. Each were unique, friendly and acoustically and musically a blessing to perform in. The participation in the mass at the Basilica de Estrella was a special addition to the concert offerings. The large crowds were welcoming and seemed to love our repertoire. The overall tour way exceeded my expectations. The ENTIRE ensemble, guest travelers and staff were nothing but pleased by our trip and tour experience. - Thanks to all involved.

Music Travel Consultants Client Scott Bradford

The attention to details, combined with the technology of cutting-edge travel tools, and topped off with their incredible and caring staff, has long made MTC one of the VERY BEST choices for student music travel in the country. They have always been a national “go to” with bands and orchestras, and for good reason. Now with the addition of Heart of America (HOA) and other upcoming choir events to their roster, MTC has positioned themselves not only as the best in the industry for instrumental ensembles, but for choral ensembles as well. As the creator and (former) owner of Heart of America, I was absolutely thrilled and knew immediately upon meeting Mark and Ryan that HOA would not only survive, but THRIVE with the leadership, vision, technology and staff that MTC brings to the table.

This allows our students and families to enjoy the experience and focus on delivering excellent performances when we travel. I would highly recommend MTC to any ensemble considering travel!

Taking the band to Atlanta for the Peach Bowl was a once in a lifetime experience and one that the students will remember for the rest of their lives. Performing our halftime show in Mercedes-Benz stadium for the Field Competition, as well as marching the parade and performing in the mass band for the bowl game, was incredibly exciting and something that I will never forget. Using Music Travel to put this trip together was the best decision that we could have made. For every major trip, from here on out, we will be in contact with Emily and Music Travel Consultants to make it happen.

The entire Music Travel Consultants Team is to be commended for an absolutely wonderful experience for my students. From our initial parent meeting to the last handshake after boarding the bus to go home, Music Travel Consultants worked hard to make our students’ experience the best it could be. MTC’s easy accessibility proved to be invaluable, and throughout the planning process MTC provided guidance, offered helpful suggestions, and made the daunting task of putting a trip like this together much less intimidating. I would recommend Music Travel Consultants to anyone interested in traveling with their school music groups, and I wish them nothing but continued success in the future!

We were so glad to use Music Travel for our first trip out of state to WGI in California. Our guide was so very helpful and took a ton of pressure off of me during the trip. Not having to deal with bus transportation, where to go for meals and checking in and out of hotels and airports was invaluable to me since I was already in charge of about 30 people. I wouldn't hesitate to use Music Travel again! Thank you for all the help, organization and attention to details!

they get it!

MTC will be my only call when planning student travel in the future. Customer service is one of their greatest attributes. They have gotten our groups out of many travel jams. I don’t know how they do it but, holding a plane at the gate for an hour and a half for our students to make their connection on one trip, to rebooking with a new charter airline only days before takeoff are some amazing things this great group of professionals can do. Their tour directors become someone on our team who meet or exceed the standard of excellence I have within my own band program. I know I don’t need to worry about the details because MTC ensures everything is taken care of.

Music Travel Consultants friend David Lesser

David Lesser Director of Bands, Clovis North HS

It was easy to work with Emily to plan our trip. When she visited the school for parent meetings, she was well spoken and presented Music Travel and the trip well. The tour directors were great. Very helpful and professional. We enjoyed our trip and will use Music Travel again for future tours.

I can’t begin to explain how refreshing it is, as a band director who has to worry about every last detail, to not have to be concerned with these logistics. We appreciate your staff on every level: design, implementation, working with some of our parents, problem solving, etc. To top it off, you present yourselves to the band each and every day with such positivity and energy. We truly are left to believe that we are the only band you’ve ever worked with! Thank you for the detail and the care – it is not unnoticed! MTC is the real deal
